what you have to keep in mind abt arthur being a dickhead and kind of losing it in s3 is that like. it was right after the prison pits. i'm not even talking about the emotional/mental impact here i'm talking purely abt the fact that the dude's physical body was shutting down for like 80 different unrelated reasons the whole time.
he hasn't eaten in over a day or longer. he hasn't eaten anything besides raw meat and hasn't seen the sun and has been coasting juuuust at the edge of Organ Failure levels of dehydration for roughly Three Months. a significant amount of his blood is currently feeding wolves in the snow outside addison because of the neck wound and compound stab-through-skin fractures in his legs that he had to set by himself. also after the red right hand he's hungover or recovering from being poisoned or maybe both. of course he's having a mental breakdown. every single warning light is going off at the same time here. that's basically the only reasonable reaction.

people actually went on about how game of thrones made it socially acceptable to be a fantasy nerd, as though the lord of the rings movies hadn't been released less than a decade earlier and left far greater cultural ripples and i am just
got may have made the adults feel better about liking fantasy, but lotr got into the kids' heads when they (we) were just young and impressionable enough to be absolutely transported and emotionally rewritten by don't you leave him, samwise gamgee and my brother, my captain, my king and and rohan will answer
lotr was rewriting entire generations' brain chemistry long before asoiaf and so obviously it's not fair to compare any post-lotr fantasy novel to it, and each book series was trying to do different things within their own spheres and so that also is not a fair comparison, but in terms of the cultural impact of the adaptations that came out within a decade of each other, saying that it was game of thrones that made fantasy mainstream is baffling
game of thrones could only run because the lord of the rings movies laid the path, and i will die on this hill

I never thought yesterday would happen.
For years I have theorized in my brain what it what I would do or say if I ever met Jhonen.
And I did yesterday. I met him. Face to face. Had a little conversation to him.
And honestly? It filled me with such a poignant existential dread that I wasn’t prepared for. Which isn’t bad? Just odd. As a fictive there is something to existential about meeting your creator, and it has a distinct edge of irony considering the events of the later JTHM comics. Also no, I mentioned nothing about this I am sure that would have weirded him out beyond comprehension. I was trying to avoid doing that as much as possible.
I have been watching Invader Zim since it aired. I recieved JTHM and Squee! for my 13th birthday and im 27 now.
This series (and by extension, this blog) have been so important to me for years. The JTHM fanbase has been very dear to me for a long time, actually!
I didn’t give him anything. I had planned to do a few art pieces for the event, but frankly I didn’t have the time. I didn’t want him to sign anything (and he doesnt like signing things anyway) so i just asked him about any projects he has planned for the future. He’s not, btw. He’s enjoying doing nothing hah.
It was also nice finally meeting a long-time mutual from here @hyenafan !!
So yeah, if anyone else attended the event, I would love to hear your thoughts! I would love to hear your unanswered questions and anything interesting that happened during your meet & greet with the C&C!
Bonus: the second image is Jhonen asking for the movie to be downvoted.
Bonus 2: my shirt was designed by @devnny !

I am at this moment a little disappointed with this finale. My main issue being that the wrapping of all the storylines was just so rushed, predictable, or underwhelming. And I get it, it was a shortened season, they had less time to write and film than they normally would. But it didn’t hit the way I would have hoped, or in the way press kept hyping it up.
Like it does set up some interesting things for season 8, and I’m still invested to see what happens with the 118. But season 7 came out the gate so strong with the cruise arc, and then week after week it fell flatter and flatter. And I think with the cruise they bit off more than they could chew in order to get it done that the rest of the season and ultimately the finale suffered.
And don’t get me wrong, there were some great moments in season 7, and Bobby’s episode is still one of my favourites. But yeah, just a little let down by this conclusion.
If I could get a rewrite fic for this season that would be great!

i really like soupemporiums videos, theyre the exact pacing and style and vocal delivery i enjoy but the degree to which he keeps purposefully "ironically" riffing on hbomberguy (whom also ticks all the style boxes for me) is getting a little... like i understand that influence + inspiration is probably a big part of Why i like soups videos but i do wish he'd lean into it less. i like what soup's bringing to the table on his own! i dont need him to quote hbombs mannerisms at me for it to be a well-made and engaging video! at the same time i feel like a lot of that isn't entirely purposeful, i get that absorbing the mannerisms of people you admire is so easy to do and so hard to stop doing. but man. again. i wish he would do it less.
