Oh yeah, so I’ve been actually coloring my stylized versions. This is just what I have so far on the page, but I still felt like sharing

First we have Dark Cacao and Choco, obviously, since they were what started it and they’re my faves

I feel like I should mention, I said previously that they were gonna be monochromatic, specifically greyscale, with the eyes (and probably gems) being the only pop of color. I did that, and then sent it to a Discord group I’m in, but then someone there told me “hey maybe don’t color them as grey”. To be fully honest, I’m still not entirely sure why (note that I’m white and also tend to live under a rock when it comes to real world stuff), but I do vaguely recall some people being upset that Fettuccine when she came out had a somewhat grey dough color, so I assume there’s some sort of negative connotation around coloring black people with grey skin. Yeah I’d say this was a case of me not thinking before I do something, which is pretty common for me tbh. So I decided to instead make their colors purple and red monochromatic (outside of the hair), and that person on Discord said it looked a lot better

I probably didn’t need to tell you all that, I could have just said I decided to make them purple and red and avoided saying that I did that, but I don’t know, I felt like I should? I don’t like being dishonest (unless it’s my parents)

Also Dark Cacao and Choco’s eyes are white as a partial reference to the Shadow Milk puppets

Anyways, so on to Golden Cheese and Black Raisin

I mostly drew them because on Twitter, there’s someone who ships the two of them and she’s been liking my art, so I thought to draw them. Well I was already drawing Golden Cheese, but I drew Black Raisin too because of that

They’re triangles because birds, and also because Golden Cheese has the triangle Soul Jam

To be perfectly honest, I feel like Golden Cheese didn’t turn out that well. Or at the very least, she looked better in the rough sketches. Maybe it’s because I don’t draw her that much

Golden Cheese was the one I probably took the most liberties with design wise, but color wise she stayed mostly the same. It’s mostly because how her face is drawn, meaning you only see one side of it, and her colors kind of just work as is with the stylization

Golden Cheese is probably going to be the only Ancient to keep her normal dough color, other than maybe Pure Vanilla

Black Raisin turned out better I think. She has sharper angles mostly because I didn’t realize until later that I should make GC sharper, but it didn’t look right. And also I think it fits with Black Raisin’s character to be sharper

Black Raisin has a lot less colors, mostly because I didn’t think she needs that many, she’s relatively simple color wise

Really enjoyed it, will be checking out the rest. Some spoilery, rambly thoughts:

I wonder how much of this was preplanned. Because there's a definite thematic resonance to the first thing we learn about Brockton Bay being that it sucks because the Ferry is broken, cutting off the two parts of the city, and then Taylor's essentially last act being to punch a bunch of holes between realities so that everyone can unite, and I have to wonder if Wildbow intended that from the start.

Taylor's characterization bugged me by the end. Not that it was unrealistic or anything(there's a reason 16-18 year olds shouldn't have unimaginable power), but someone at some point really needed to sit her down and dig some of her issues out of her psyche with a fork. Like, she has both a shrink and mandatory ethics classes as part of the Wards, did NONE of that take?

(which is also why I think I'm falling on the side of NOT shipping Lisa and Taylor, despite it basically being written for me. Lisa deserves better and she's smart enough to know it, even if she definitely loves her.)

But Taylor starting it off by getting tortured and refusing to ask for help because she knows no one will help her, and then how she ends it? That tracks, but also that sucks to a degree I don't love in my fiction. I saw her described as the hero of a Greek Tragedy once and yeah, I don't love those.

BTW, do we ever see Imp vs Regent's Dad? Because of the timeskip, that's probably the thing I was upset about missing most.

The mandatory no-homo started being funny at some point. It's partially an inverse Supernatural(and maybe the only one of those I've seen), in that there's so few male chars that you have to ship femslash just to make your fic functional. And Wildbow choosing to do that, to write a bunch of really good female chars and then be offended that people ship them, is just hilariously bad.

Anyways, yeah, was good. Will be reading the rest, but also wow there's a lot of words to all this.

I’m still certain zim is physically a child (and prob mentally he acts like one) but age wise and by the speed at which their planet spins is technically sixteen in Irken years.

so he’s been alive for 160+ years but it’s possible considering how weird Irken growth his that he barely grew or even got older that entire time. another couple of giveaways is that he

a) sounds like a pre pubescent child and in the first episode we hear an Irken with a deeper voice who also appears to be taller. this figure, while partially hidden, looks similar to the tallest but obviously is not as high up as they are. The tallest have higher pitched voices than him but Yknow. Men can have high pitched voices. b) he (attempts) to flirt with tak, who at the time was only confirmed to be human and about 11 years old.

It’d be kind of weird if he was an adult.

c) zim acts sounds and Yknow, looks like a child through the entire series. Maybe you can just chalk this down to he’s short but from the pov of me who’s less than five feet and in high school, your face structure can be a dead giveaway about your age. Most people just don’t bother to look down long enough to see.

d) alright let’s talk biology. As we know humans start getting acne around 10-13 years old. now staring again, zim is an ALIEN and they definitely have different skin than humans do but the fact that zim can get acne and from the same source a human can might suggest a bit of a ballpark we can make.

e) “oh um zim is an invader though he’s probably an adult-“ do you see that planet? You think they wouldn’t use child soldiers for sweet, sweet conquest? Have you watched the show?

f) Jhonen Vasquez likes to fuck with the fans. I think we might be taking some statements a little too serious. Also leave the guy alone he made this beautiful show let’s stop harassing him so you can draw your weird yaoi stuff.

ok conclusion?

my main theory is that:

If you get taller you grow. Irkens could have a completely fucked up growth pattern that relies completely on growing. Who knows. Maybe some Irkens stay children forever (see child soldier note) and maybe some of them grow fast as fuck. this also supports the fact that the tallest went to class with zim but ended up in power. I assume at some point they grew taller, essentially got too old for school, were taken out and treated like royalty (thus explaining why they’re less serious than all the other Irken we’ve seen.)

of course I could be wrong. Whatever you headcanon is your opinion and it’d be unfair of me to push that on you. This is mostly for myself to get my thoughts out cuz I was going so insane I remember what tree bark tasted like (don’t ask.)

i'm oddly partial to a bit of draco/dudley - entirely because the idea of vernon trying to out-pompous lucius is funny to me, as is the fact that they'd clearly both think harry would care and harry's actual response would be 'who's draco?' - and i have to confess myself partial to this too.

narcissa's narrative mirror is molly weasley - both of these women share a certain fierceness [and, especially, a fierceness and strength one might not expect of them at first glance], but they also share a certain disconnection from the rest of their family, and an undercurrent of loneliness can be detected in their characterisation.

this is present in the way petunia is written too - the implication of canon is both that she's married "up" in terms of social class and that vernon is quite a bit older than her.

[and her fandom reception is a victim, i think, of the aging up of the adult cast of the films - petunia is, at most, twenty-four when lily dies. like her sister, she marries and has children young, even by the social standards of 1970s/1980s britain, and having to take on harry changes the trajectory of her life when it's only just started - i am absolutely wedded to the idea, for example, that harry being placed in her care means that she gives up a plan to have a second biological child.]

she is, of course, also confined in a prison which is directly of her own making - the bland domesticity of her perfect little house, all of which is an artifice constructed so she doesn't have to admit how deeply she once longed to be magic. narcissa experiences the same - i always read her as someone who leans heavily on the gendered conventions of the wizarding world as a way of coping with how utterly both of her sisters defied them, and as being someone who is very concerned with keeping up appearances [hence why her wildness and desperation when she goes to see snape in half-blood prince is so shocking]. i think you can imagine that she runs malfoy manor to have the same nothing-wrong-here vibe as number four privet drive, and i think you can do something very interesting indeed with the idea of two women who live behind masks being forced to drop them when they find each other.

lord voldemort/molly weasley

does, in fact, exist, in the form of a story i will recommend to everyone - come slowly, eden by paimpont - which, like all the best rare-pair fics, takes two implausible characters and creates a genuinely meaningful love story between them, through a lovely character study of molly and her ability to notice when people [and, especially, when people who are very much in want of a mother] are hungry.

nagini/crookshanks

i had to look up crookshanks' gender for this - which is a wild thing to say on a weekday afternoon - so that i could confirm... flopping. nagini's a lesbian, crookshanks misunderstood when she said she liked pussy.

it's fine in the end, though. nagini's got something happening with one of the malfoys' peahens, and crookshanks can go back either to the enemies-to-lovers thing he's got going on with mrs norris or to the soulmates thing he's got going on with sirius.

It’s so interesting how spot-on you were with the thoughts about toxic Beaujes folxs fleeing to D20. The same person who’s been starting shit on twitter just found out that CR doesn’t allow mass-produced zines, and used that fact to make some batshit generalization about how “that’s why the fandom is corporatized and violent and racist towards any canon-contradicting fanon like all my beaujester friends told me and now I’m parroting it uncritically”.

So I think this might be my last post on this unless some more wild shit goes down (very possible) not because I disagree but just because I am also trying to be conscious of overshadowing my genuine excitement for The Ravening War. But yeah...like, I followed a few people who were CR fanartists until Beauyasha started happening and unfollowed them once that went down; it was extremely exhausting watching a bunch of (mostly white) people in their early 20s suddenly claim a show they'd watched over 200 episodes of was hopelessly problematic simply because their ship didn't happen. It was a truly vile combination of normal shipping drama plus appropriated social justice language about said shipping drama plus, as others have noted, middle-class white queer people [a demographic I fit into myself] shoving aside narratives about POC or working class people because they aren't explicitly queer narratives (or even narratives about queer people that aren't to their exact specifications of what queerness looks like; see people who refuse to respect Molly's pronouns or who erase Vax's bisexuality because he was primarily romantically involved with a woman).

The zine thing is fucking wild in particular for the following reasons:

The two CR-centric zines that person has mentioned as not ultimately moving forward were both zines that intended to pay the artists, ie, at least partially for profit rather than charity zines.

I am not personally in a creative industry but I've been reliably told by basically everyone who is that CR's policy is boilerplate.

CR has a pretty extensive history of showcasing and hiring fanartists; this is not opposition to fan content, which is how this wack job is attempting to portray it.

Similarly no one is devaluing fan content; they're just saying "you are throwing a big old hissy fit in public about the hypothetical scenario of The Ravening War not honoring a ship that has, and I am not joking here, six fics on Ao3 in total." (For reference: Lapin/Theo, a ship that person actively dislikes, has 56 works, which, idk I feel that's almost ten times as widely accepted fanlore.)

Their twitter currently is bragging about their cookbook zine (which as far as I know wasn't based in fanon but was just a cookbook with fanart in it) and not about their currently active charity zine (which is the one about Belizabeth and Citrina). Also that charity zine is available for free which really undercuts the "for charity" aspect. Anyway a cool thing to do is to not buy it, but just donate directly to the International Rescue Committee or your refugee-supporting charity of choice.

Anyway. This was an opportunity to rant a lot but I will leave you with this: I am not the right person, obviously, to enumerate every possible issue with CR's portrayal of characters of color nor the lack of diversity of the cast. I think discussions of racism and lack of representation in actual play are important to have. But it's telling that fanartists, specifically, who left CR over Beau and Jester not getting together but pretended this was about social justice, always seem to go to D20. Or NADDPod. Or Friends at the Table. Or have their art featured in the TAZ graphic novels. All majority white or entirely white main casts.

They rarely seem to go to, say, Rivals of Waterdeep, or Into the Motherlands, or Three Black Halflings (and those are still some of the better known examples, frankly). People complaining that Critical Role hates lesbians for having a lesbian relationship they didn't like never seem to check out The Broadswords, or use resources like this to find women-led actual play. It's about getting clicks; they want to find an existing fandom to adore them rather than use the power they claim to wield to popularize something underrated.

Anyway that's the last reason why I think I'm done for now: I think the best and most satisfying thing is to starve them of attention, and to enjoy the Ravening War and art and fic about it from fans who are happy to be here.

🤩 Obviously, since it's me, this has to be about FireSky! 😅 I have two that I'm not, like, overly attached to, but that I find interesting/cute.

One is at least partially supported by a couple of very tiny canon details (there's a post I've been meaning to make for ages), and it's that Nathan and Keith might have actually joined the Hero TV roster at the same time (if so, probably, five years before the start of the show). They would have been the most unlikely pair of rookies ever (with neither of them having true rookie energy, to boot) and I live for the cute shenanigans that probably occurred in this scenario as they got to know each other and everyone else 🤭

The other, quite simply, is that since the cooking class was Keith's idea, he was also the one who signed them up for it... and he inadvertently picked a couples' class for them and just never realized 😂

Mh. The people and pets I love are in good enough health, and so am I. I have some really awesome friends who make me feel cared about. And my writing energy and inspiration are coming back and I think I'll be putting words to (digital) paper again very soon.

I've already answered this (in a most conceited way, admittedly), so I'll go for another dream fic concept that isn't one of those I want to write myself (and which I've only just come up with, but that I already love): Tiger & Bunny, with of course a focus on FireSky, in space. Probably a Star Trek fusion? I can just see Keith being the too-selfless captain of a ship, and Nathan as the officer who worries about him and doesn't quite fit perfectly in the rigid structure of Starfleet, and... and I'm now headcanoning Trek races for half the cast and I think I should stop here, lol.

As for who would write it best... anyone who has the patience to, really. Which is definitely not me, alas 😂

I used to do ballet and got to perform in a huge theatre once. I remember hanging out backstage, watching the older dancers, getting to see what the lighting crew was doing… It was a brilliant time, though the hassle to get hair and make-up done had a lot of people yelling and losing the plot. (I learned how to do stage make-up myself when I was a lil older, partially because that’s how you roll in drama classes but also because of that experience hahaha!)

Least favorite ship in a fandom you’re in:

At the risk of getting utterly disowned by a good number of folks that follow me: Webgott. I have gone for an outing or two in this ship, if memory serves me correctly, and I think I understand why people like it. I love banter in a ship as much as the next person, and the push-pull of opposites can be fun. But I also think Lieb deserves a lot more than someone who’s fundamentally at odds with his life and his POV. I think that the discussion they have in that final ep is indicative of something so major that it is a dealbreaker in that ship. (Plus, Web is just… not my fave character. Putting this mildly.)

What’s the most toxic fandom you’ve been in?

Vikings. Hands down, no contest. Absolute toxic cesspool of lies, backstabbing, and badmouthing. There are a few very good reasons why I’m no longer on speaking terms with people I used to call friends (at least one of whom was also in our lovely little war fandom back in the day) and why I’ve all but given up on doing any new gifsets or writing in that fandom for the foreseeable future.

Borrowed Time (WIP Ask game)

ohhh boy this behemoth will never see the light of day but I'm so happy you asked about this one bc as complicated as it is I love thinking and talking about it lol

so this was meant to be a fix-it for the ending of the star trek novelverse. some important background info: the coda trilogy wrapped up the novelverse basically by retroactively wiping that timeline from existence to avert a threat to the entire multiverse, because apparently with all the new shows and tie-in novels people thought it would be too confusing to also keep the novelverse books going. well that made me pissed as hell so I wrote this short fic, The Forgotten Splinter, bringing back one of my favorite and criminally underused characters, Riker and Troi's daughter Tasha, and Borrowed Time was meant to be a follow up to that.

I have a partial outline complete with chapter titles and extensive notes on what I wanted to happen, but at some point the idea just got too complicated and overwhelming for me to contemplate lol. the short of it is that Tasha gets her memories back from the First Splinter Timeline as well as the other timeline branches that were erased, and she and the gang work together to restore that timeline while also eliminating the threat from the Devidians.

I ended up not writing very much of it except for a list of chapter titles (in rough chronological order) and one passage:

Your version of the Federation literally banned an entire class of life-forms, and didn’t even bother to make an exception when the child of two Starfleet heroes’ life was at stake!” The Troi-Rikers visibly blanched. “And you!” Tasha exclaimed, swiveling toward Picard. “You’re a bloody admiral! Whatever happened to ‘don’t let them promote you, don’t let them transfer you, don’t let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you’re there, you can make a difference’?” She paused to take a deep breath. “And why didn’t you tell Beverly you love her? She wanted you to go after her, fight for her, not let her go!” Picard was stunned speechless. Tasha continued her rant unabated. “Our timeline wasn’t perfect, but it was better than this! What kind of multiverse is this, where the timeline in which things go mostly right has to be erased from causation, while this shit timeline with all the unnecessary angst and dramatic tension gets to live on? It’s not fair, dammit!” By this point Tasha was nearly hysterical, and the tears poured in a seemingly endless flood down her cheeks. The multiple timelines’ worth of trauma she had been suppressing for six years had finally burst forth from the dam of her subconscious. Deanna’s soul cried out in pure and complete empathy. She had entertained similar thoughts ever since Thad’s diagnosis. Why did their timeline have to be the one where he died? The whole thing had made absolutely no sense, as if whoever was writing the story of their lives got a kick out of torturing their characters.

I came up with this after Picard season one aired but before two and three, so I didn't incorporate any of that into this idea lol, anyway I had some vague notion that this would be the first installment of an epic trilogy, but almost no one read my novelverse fic when I was actively writing and posting about it so I don't really have much motivation to make it happen

And, of course, I can't leave out my beloved Auntie Dot. I get all in my feels about her because of how much emotion she shows for a "dumb" AI at times. It's not much, and it's very subtle wherever it *can* be seen - outside of her Firefight voicelines, anyway - but it's there, and it matters to me a lot. In a world where your class is severely stunted in the Having Feelings Of Any Kind department, especially when compared to your "smart" peers, imagine being the one urging your commander to get help despite not being... *wired* to do so. One warning is sufficient, yet you warn multiple times. Sorry, in this house we love Auntie Dot. Her firefight voicelines are also quaint and full of charm and I implore anyone reading this to give those a listen if they haven't.

🚢 - favourite UNSC ship?

Oof, this is a hard one. I'll be answering these by subclasses since that's the only way I can start singling out stuff - if you told me to pick an Ultimate Favorite Ship, we'd be here forever. Let's start with the dropships, for example. I *adore* the Albatross' design, and- oh, wait, this is about *singular* ships, isn't it. Oh, well, I won't be erasing my previous words. I am partial to the Spirit Of Fire due to it being a retrofitted colony ship. Reminds me of the Titans in Titanfall, who were used to help with terraforming planets and gathering vast amounts of crops and such before they were turned into war machines.

🥊 - who are you beating the shit out of?

Huh. Another difficult one, but in a different way. If you asked me at the very beginning of my Halo journey, my answer would've been Dr. Halsey. I've seen the light since, though. Halo is a bit of a strange case for me because if we ignore the obvious answer of Captain Ingridson and non-answers like everyone who has ever worked at ONI, there aren't many people that I can name from the top of my head I'd want to throw hands with. Maybe it's time for a re-read of some books or Halopedia pages. With that said, the final answer is Jun. And that one guy from the latest Flood short story who didn't listen to his ship AI. He's pissed me off so bad I don't even remember his name, but fuck 'im in particular.

I'm grateful I got this question twice because I get to discuss various things. At the risk of it being too broad of an answer, I will say that one of my favorite aspects of Halo lore is the politics of future humanity. I haven't seen a lot of people talk about the Koslovics and Friedens and the Interplanetary War in general - though, granted, before the Mythos came out in 2016, they were only mentioned on Bungie's site and the Halo timeline on Xbox.com. I'm glad Mythos gave us some names to work with, but I can't help but yearn for more pre-Human-Covenant War political lore outside of the "Innies vs the UNSC" struggle. Do not get me started on the Colonial Military Authority and how the UNSC absorbed and dismantled them and the differences in the ways the two organizations operate.

I just wanted to ramble a little and say I really love your writing! I ramble, this ask may seem a little long, but it's all adoration I promise! Please don't be unnerved by the length!

I just found your fic "Pisces Caelestis" today and I caught up to your latest chapter. Honestly I was minutes away from being late to leaving for work, because I was that absorbed in your story and at that point I was only on chapter 8. If it wasn't for my work ethic, honest to the stars above, I would have called out to keep reading uninterrupted 😅 Of course, I couldn't put it down even when I got to work. (Night time security guard here lol) Between taking care of people and reading, the last few chapters took me about two and a half hours to get through. But honestly, I think I've been grinning like a doofus just about 90% of the time. I think the only ten percent left was when you tossed my heart to the fishies when the reader or boys became upset. Veeery good at giving my heart the good ol' squeeze like my heart is being strangled out of me. Very tasteful ✨👌

I love how you've been able to include the other FNAF characters in your story. And like I commented on AO3 the few chapters back, I loved the touch again to hinting at Chica's Latino heritage with the mention of her hair. Again, so many people I think. Play her off as occasion that the idea of it being different is just a stunner, and honestly I think she would look very cute with bleached blonde hair. And again, no way and heck did I expect her to be the crazy dog lady. How you incorporated "Cupcake" with her is just ✨golden✨ I haven't read many DCA fics, but I think this is the first one I've seen with Chica and her cupcake and I loved that touch. Also, I'm with the townspeople in shipping her with Roxy, they sound like an adorable pair together.

You've given our Superstar favorite dad Freddy his little boy which made me smile. I love to be exasperation from the readers playful jab/ threat to helping the boy get a hamster for class. He's a real sweetheart and his words of wisdom are much more appreciated than what YN was given as a child. I get the whole "why worry about it?" motif, but to a child they need better ways to cope. To understand their feelings and when young (especially when young actually) I think it's important for someone to be heard. YN getting that now from Freddy is heartwarming. He really shows attentiveness and makes me wonder if he knew YN when they were younger. Maybe not knowing the full picture of what their life was like as a child. But when you see a child neglected or misbehaved, I know people could probably wish that they could give words of advice. But not wanting to step on a parent's toes just, can't. To think he's wanting to give YN what they couldn't have when younger is really heartwarming, you really show he gives the best advice and hugs. And sometimes a hug or just a willingness to listen as all a person needs. You did really great showing that ❤️

Hearing Roxy have scars and a partial disability was appreciated. You didn't play down her blindness or scars, in actuality you showed that people could be proud for what they've lived through. She doesn't let people minimize her experience and doesn't let her past make up her current personality. And no way are her feelings for Chica just a crush If she's willing to face her trauma of being around six dogs just to see (her crush/girlfriend/ future wife-y) Chica. But dang is that some intense exposure therapy, that's gotta be a bit emotionally taxing. I hope if/when she has the courage to tell Chica about it that it goes well. She doesn't wanna jar Chica or maybe make her feel guilty, and she's obviously doing great if they're spending time together. Unless, when reader had reached out to Chica to get Roxy's number, she was at Roxy's house instead of Chica's. Either way, I hope both girls figure it out.

And Monty? Being a rebel? Who is surprised, but it still makes me smile. I'm curious if he kept the sea glass YN found to trade. Like in a drawer or something. Even when someone seems like a rebel, I feel like for most people if a child gets attached to you and gives you items even if for trade, you still try and hold on to them because I think it would make someone smile when they look back on it. I wouldn't blame him if he got rid of the sea glass, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in his house or around his house he had it. And it makes me smile at the thought of it. I'm curious about when he'll pop up again in the story. Would he'll have a bigger frame like security breach Monty, or if he would be more on the linky side. I could see him riding dirt bikes, yet can still find a way to make it rebellious. Even if the town turns a blind eye, it still made me laugh.

I relate to your YN greatly~ When are chores ever fun? Their independence is evident and I think a lotta people can relate to ✨emotional constipation✨ As YN was getting gifts and feeling bad a little bad at the idea that the boys were feeling pressured to give. I was already thinking just give them something in return like an exchange. When they finally did it, it made me laugh and say "Finally! So glad they figured that out!" aloud, and it made me glad I live alone because that would have been embarrassing for someone else to overhear. Only to hear that frustrated Moon, I felt bad, But how are we to know if they didn't tell? I'm glad Sun continued because he was happy seeing YN smile. YN also did better with the shirt slashing in the latest chapter. I think I'd still be deep/close to a PTSD that if he slashed his claws at me I'd probably be fighting emotional/mental barriers that would have gone up in feeling further unwanted. They really do need time to recover. I'm glad they know instinctually their reactions are valid, but their fortitude to press on to keep from stunting themselves or losing precious new seafriends is admirable.

It was rude of Moon to try and (kinda) traumatize Sun for what they had done. I mean, valid, in a way they care for YN enough to where he feels the only logical reaction would be to give them space/ keep them safe from them. But I'm glad/hopeful YN's reaction to Moon literally in a way wagging his finger in their face, showed they can stand on their own/aren't made of glass. His lisp is adorable and I think it would be hard to not just want to hear him talk to hear it again. Being scolded by Sun for emotionally hurting YN was needed. But still a hilarious mental image of Sun wrangling Moon if it meant helping clear up the misunderstanding and help YN be happy again.

And Sun, stars above, Sun. Can he get any more precious (not meant to be a challenge! Cause the stars above know how many times you made my heart melt into a puddle from him)? He's playful, he teases, he understood exaggerating expressions and his delight knowing that playfulness got YN to laugh was just too precious to read. I think I had to reread those chapters about three or four times before I could will myself to move on and keep reading. Sweetest fish, I think I was rolling on my couch a few times when he was just being a sweetpea. He shared his blueberries with YN, he grasped what coins/money was in hopes it would help YN. Also wondering if he understands the value of gold? He didn't just give a single coin, and Having already discussed the value of gold corns with my mom a couple months back. He has an older currency, probably more pure and just being older is something. No kidding that he literally helped provide. His pet names are precious and he just seems so stupidly sweet that repeatedly I wanted to hug him. You made a precious boy and each time there has been fluff you've made my heart melt. I'm so glad YN and the boys are starting to interact, You probably have an idea about it, but I'm still going to say it is such a relief when they finally got to speak to each other/ start to interact. Rocky star with Moon, but I'm glad Sun took things in stride when YN opened up to explaining their insecurities involving Moon. To help mediate and translate, to grasp when YN needed help being grounded and helped give emotional support from the physical contact. So so so so stupidly precious that I was repeatedly at a loss for words.

I loves all of this. My dejected exclamation in finding out I got caught up felt/ was to be expected. Your writing was so great, I really really loved all of this. I'm so glad I found your work and I look forward to how it progresses. You just moved into your own home (CONGRATS! 🎊) So I hope you give yourself a break, take things and stride. Try not to face burnout, It's okay if you have days where you don't do anything. Sometimes just getting to tomorrow is enough. The fact that it keeps bothering me that no one really explained the meaning behind that dream. It seems likely, as I said in my previous run, that this is the curse trying to mess with their brains. Like the little girl in Crossbell who takes care of Coppe, who forgot the SSS, they are supposed to forget their Hero as well. But never actually confirmed or denied my theory. It is just something were they never ever give you an explanation for. Annoying, I tell you.

The Main Campus colors certainly also complement Altina, making it very likely that the Hair-Color really is the deciding factor here. Not sure if noticing that is worth replaying CS4 tho ^^’

That is what Cedric always wanted, right? Being part of Class7. It would have been interesting to see how this would have gone. Tho I certanly would have added Shirley to the mix at some point, if not for shipping reasons, than at least to see how the Sanguin Oger would do in a normal day to day school-life-scenario ^^’ I mean, she must have at least something along the lines like that now that she temporarily joined the main Campus to babysit Cedric, but we never see any of it, nor do we ever hear her saying anything about it. Truly a missed opportunity. But I guess the chance to think about how thing would have gone if this + Shirley would have been the new class 7 at some point is worth replaying this game somewhat. “What if” - situations are always nice to think of, after all.

There is a bit of a plothole in the end of CS3. Millium pushed Altina away, when she tried to protect Rean. The sister actually had a small conversation for a moment shortly before Millium sacrificed herself, but next we saw Altina she was unconscious in Musses Arms. No idea when and how she lost consciousness, because she didn’t react to either Millium dying nor Rean losing his sanity. There is a possibility that she only temporally gained consciousness when Cedric tried to kill her, as her bodies survival-instincts started to kick in, but that she was to weak to stay conscious long enough and upon seeing Millium get hit by the Dragon, it might have been too much for her and she collapsed, just like Alfin did when she found Eugent shot on the ground. But once again, we never get to see if that is what actually happens. Sometimes I wonder if they just put her back into being out cold so suddenly to make sure we get her reaction to what happened in CS4, just in case we weren’t in enough pain from being constantly reminded of Oliverts death or missing Rean XD Tho once again, not sure if you can put that into any category regarding replaying or not replaying the game.

I gett that they needed to explain the small time skip and why non of class7 did anything in that time, but I think it highly unlikely to be in a relatively healthy state after two weeks of not eating or drinking anything. Then again, we can always use magic as an explanation and an excuse, which sadly is not the best way to deal with things. People hate the “a wizard did it” excuse for a reason.

Look at this and the state of mourning that the rest of original class 7 is in right now and then dare to tell me later that Juna was not just an insensitive, arrogant brat when she was reprimanding them for actually feeling sad and lost.

I know I alkways say that, but I have to say it again, original class 7 had so muche more going on for them at that point then new class7 had, making it even worse how Juna treated them without any regards towards their feelings and circumstances. Alisa here did not just lose a friend, and liked acquaintances, the person she loves is in the hands of the enemy in goddess knows what state. To blame for this is partially her very own father. The fact that this awful war that was the reason for all this is going to happen so quickly is because of her families companies (especially her mothers) cooperation. And to top that off, her sister-figure and close friend has betrayed her and run back to the enemy, the same enemies that was also partly responsible for their losses and the cause for the upcoming war. Not to mention los of people she cares about are currently missing. Imagine the weight on her shoulders, the pressure in her conscience and the pain in her heart. And the rest of original class 7 is in similar positions. Take Jusis for example. He also lost the person he loved the most and partly responsible for this and all the other bad things that happened and are still currently happening is his very own brother. Gaius as a Grahlsritter failed at his mission and with that endangered his homeland as this place is right between Erebonia and Calvard and will probably will get trampled over in the war. Machias and Elliot both have their fathers in their positions that weights on their shoulders and I could go on and on and on with that list. Aside from temporarily losing Rean and Altina losing Millium, what exactly is it that new class 7 has to endure at this point? The thing with Musse and Ash is a bit concerning for sure, but over all, they seem as carefree and exited as they always ware, like they don’t have a care in the world for everything that was going on. And then they dare to be so darn disrespectful to old class 7 and no one is even telling them how awful they were. That really is one of the biggest reasons to sometimes hate this game and not want to replay it.

And that darn bitch even thinks she has the right to be completely pissed off. That Osborne is Reans father, was his secret to tell and he obviously didn’t wanted people to know, so no one had the right to say anything, aside from Rean himself, who, once again, would have said something if he wanted to. Yes, it can be frustrating that Rean keeps stuff like that to himself instead of relying more on the people he can trust BUT how is that original class sevens fault? How does that spoiled little Crossbell-brat have any right to gather a mourning class 7 and spit at them like this?

And here we go, starting this absolutely bullshit mindset. Throughout the whole of Cold Steel 4, the game keeps pushing New Class 7 on you, forcing you to accept their absolutely stupid explanations for it and all that while nothing of this was making any sense. Rean, without any doubt, has a special connection to his first very own class 7 that he leads as a teacher, not as a unwilling leader. But those damned brats (Altina aside) know the man for half a year have no idea of even half the things that he has been through and most of the time, they were more a burden then a help to him and yet they DARE to not just believe but actually say out loud that they do understand Rean better then his friends and former Classmates that he knows for almost 3 years at this point and has gone through hell and back with them twice... trice, actually.

Right. Because original Class 7 absolutely has no idea that after everything that happened, after everything he has been through, after what he has done at the Grahl, Rean would be suffering. I mean, how should they even just have the slightest idea of what he is feeling after knowing him and the things he has been through for 3 fucking years? Seriously, saying that original class 7 doesn’t understand that Rean is suffering is absolutely stupid. Aside from Rean himself (and possibly his family) no one knows the amount of Reans suffering better then original class 7. And its only Junas pure arrogance that allows her to speak like that who love Rean more then anyone else.

That is literally the only thing this arrogant little bitchy brad is right about. BUT I am pretty sure that is something class 7 was already well aware of, but the game makes it look like Juna is the only one that understood it. If anything she MIGHT have had the strength of mind (because mind you, she lost almost nothing in this mess) to find it in herself to actually move, instead of being in a stupor of pain and grieving and hopelessness. BUT that is a point the others would have reached too, after getting some time to mourn, which is their right that just got trampled on by Juna.

I can not tell you how angry I am at this game whenever I reach this scene. I want to turn the game off and never touch it again because I can take that arrogance and how they treat it like Juna and her pals are all oh-so-great and care oh-so-much-more about Rean. This scene is the absolute worst part of the game. The reason I hate to replay it. And the worst part of it is, that they keep going on like this. Like only new class 7 can actually help Rean and the other are just there for... well... certainly not to help Rean because apparently they aren’t capable of that... or at least that is what the game wants you to think. Which is utter bullshit and Hajimari/Riveri proves just as much.

Look, I know what this scene was for but the way they executed it was awful. It puts Juna in a really bad light and despite the fact that the game wants to push her as new class sevens leader so badly, they already didn’t do her character very good in CS3 either. Instead of acting like class 7 is oh so awful and incapable of seeing Reans suffering, what would have been necessary, was a gentle reminder that yes, we understand that you guys are in pain, you’ve been through hell and lost a lot and still have a heavy burden on your shoulders, but please, let us pull ourselves together so we can save instructor Rean that WE ALL know and care about and want back at our side. Let us be strong for him. Together. THAT is what would have been the right way to get original class 7 out of their stupor and back into gear. Instead, all we had was Juna being arrogant, tactless and mean. Which did not do anyone any good.

And here we have another example for new class sevens arrogance and how their supporters actually fuel that arrogance. Musse thought she knew everything and she was always a step ahead of everyone. But think about it! If she did, how did things end up like this? She could not stop Ash from shooting the Emperor, she could not stop the Courageous from getting blown up, she was useless when Rean was almost eaten by a diving Dragon, she could not prevent Milliums death, nor did she manage to avoid the war. She also did not see the fact coming that Olivert was not just alive, he also already had a new and better ship prepared. She certainly didn’t foresee the Chancellors true reasons and intentions for doing what he was doing. So if she truly would have been so good that she could teach the Chancellor a thing or two, how did she not end up stopping his plans BEFORE the great Twilight started? She has nothing more then a big mouth and her powers or good for nothing but strategizing and even then her strategies only work out IF she is right, which, as we will see in CS4 eventually she not always is.

Everyone keeps saying new class 7 easily became better and stronger as their predecessors in the span of only 6 months, BUT not just is that Reans doing and so he deserves all the credit for it, not them but it is also only halfway the truth. Those kids are arrogant and spoiled and think themselves almighty because Rean that damn fool never stopped them when they were getting ahead of themselves and even encouraged them to believe that they are all so strong and mighty. And now instead of strong fighters, like the original class 7, what we have on our hands is a bunch of arroganz brats that in truth, can’t do shit without the help of other, much more powerful and intelligent people. Musse here for example would be nowhere, without Aurelia, Wallace and Vita and her plan would go down the drain without the support of Cassius and the other Nations. Her keen foresight might be the cause of those people supporting her, but she still would be nothing without them.

I’ll go with a couple vampire academy/bloodlines opinions since it’s you asking :) 

(think we’re in agreement on this) I dislike Rose&Dimitri romantically in the books. In the show they’re fine but still don’t do much for me personally. 

feel like I disagree with a lot of takes I’ve seen on Rose&Adrian’s relationship not the obvious: it was an unhealthy relationship, but different specific arguments about it I’ve seen from other fans. As much as I love Adrian as a character some of the takes I’ve seen on how Rose treats him that villainize her I side eye hard, there are a couple valid points there about how she views his alcoholism and how it effects the way she treats him but there was a lot more about their dynamic that doesn’t paint Adrian in the best light. At the same time though it was definitely the most compelling to me of Rose’s het dynamics (I only fervently ship her with Lissa lol) just for virtue of Adrian is interesting and Dmitri and Mason are not lol, there is something there to me about two passionate/similar people who ultimately aren’t good for each other. Basically I have mixed feelings there vs I think there’s a lot of polarization about it in the fandom. 

I prefer the first three Bloodlines books to any other vaverse books by a lot but I do think VA was a more consistently good series (although both series peak with book 3), and I prefer Sydney to Rose as a protagonist (although I adore them both they’re my #1 and #2 favorite in this verse respectively) but I prefer the ensemble of va to that of bloodlines as much as I like the bl gang. But then I dug the plots and general atmosphere in bl not to mention elements of the world building (the focus on witches) more so they’re pretty balanced for me although I have sgreater emotional attachment to Bl because Sydney <3 and Sydrian <3.

I liked the show better than the movie as an adaptation but neither was great for me. Also fun fact I actually managed to write a paper partially about the show for one of my classes last year (the class was on serialized fiction so linking Victorian novels that were originally published serially to how modern television works and so the paper topic was to make a point about serialization so serialized novels being adapted into tv aligned with that lol). 

Sydney and Miss Terwiliger’s dynamic is one of thee best things about Bloodlines to me and I wish it got discussed more.

And the ship fleets of Tommy F we have several numbers coming in they are still pretty good sized and they do have some teeth that's probably 100 million Black ships some of them are extremely huge is 10 11,000 miles and one 15,000 mi he has a death star that's being constructed is partially capable $45,000 mi across and he has an empire fleet of 200 million all the ships are 5 mi no they're pretty big by comparison it's about 30% bigger than most empire fleets by size and class and he has a stone chip fleet still and that's still strong 300 million so you're fighting and you're up there and people are looking and people are sounding the alarm these things are not true and it's going out all over the world and the max are getting beat up and they're not as small as we said and I'm not getting beat up as much and find what our son is saying to be caustic but it's true everybody's coming back up against the wall and they don't care and they don't get it he's got firepower and we do too both of them are very serious his level of fire powers and tents and he can take care of those two states in a blank you don't think so go in there and infiltrate disable everything and you're gone and they say that's not right but he doesn't want to right now but really he doesn't need the commentary and a lot of people say it it usually not people that might actually do something but now I want to crap the bed like these idiots. Mac daddy says he's still as a job and he works for the max and it's true it's a lot better than it sounds and really tons of people are saying all the stupid stuff and should have shut up and bja is the head one and he's a CIA he's using one of our son's techniques and it probably will have a decent effect but he's an a****** about it and doesn't get what it does to him

We're going to make the H4 but for us and we're going to use four wheel drive pick up chassis and the heavier duty ones with towing packages and we are going to get them going and we're going to start building the H4 our way I'm pretty soon thereafter we're also using pickup trucks for and kits but they're metal and they're real military vehicles and we put in heavy duty suspension and engines and things like that he says not the engine and I do agree and the suspension might have to stay we don't have time or energy or money and we're going to get it out there we need people and so I'm going to have to rewrite my thing and he agrees and what I'm saying is we need power and we need good suspension but he said we're going to do that on the new ones we already have them designed as far as I know and we just have to start production and we need them it's an occupant occupying thing so I get that and we're going to need the H4 which is new they don't have that so we need to test it out and he's asking me to get a competition going and so we're going to do it we have a course and we're going to run it and we're going to see who wins. okay well I Didn’t Want to Say bc idk if it would one day make it into something (y’all know I be… protective of things that might one day be Other Things) but here she is I’ve been thinking about her for… days:

So: college. Mike Hanlon goes to a lot of it in my version of modern no-it au eventually. Bc he decides to be a history/sociology professor.

Specifically, in grad school, I hc him as very popular. Especially in his crime and punishment class, (lots of discussion on the deviance theories, docile bodies, etc.) as ¼ black people in the class, and the only black guy, he has some opinions- and the class is pretty content to listen to him talk.

and one day he’s talking about the impact of institution on individuality in the frame work of public schooling, and a tiny, thus far entirely quiet girl, with pin-straight black hair framing her face and glasses that are slightly too large for a small face that introduces herself as Jane, politely raises her hands and points out every flaw and inconsistency in his theory. Mike is so surprised he doesn’t even begin to have words to bring himself back. But she’s… right. He didn’t even really go to public school. He’d never seen it at that angle.

and mike… is kind of pissed.

to be honest, he hasn’t really been challenged like that since he got passed his junior year of college. The other thing about it is Jane doesn’t even seem… to like him that much. Mike is … popular there. Everyone likes him. It bothers him she doesn’t!

The next time she talks, he listens intently. He’s taking Notes. he’s rEady. He’s gonna Point Out something about it after she Destroyed him like that. But she’s prepared too. They go back and forth so long their professor reminds them about “dialogue” and “class participation” and “stepping up and then stepping back.”

When they get their final project assignments he is 👏🏻 ready 👏🏻. There’s one topic on the sheet that is marked by their professor to see him before embarking. He chooses it.

He finds out, so does Jane.

It’s… a lot. It’s more than he bargained for, trying to frame a sociological argument around a fictional fable about a fictional scenario. the word Omelas has lost its meaning.

He sees Jane in the library, with the big tombs on her desk, the ones no one can even check out. The exact ones he came to read.

He’s upset, but he sits it out, figuring she’ll give them back eventually, and sets out to do his other work. He spares a look for her every few minutes. He can wait her out.

After about two hours, someone taps on his shoulder. “I’m gonna be here all night.” She tells him, “you can sit with me and use them,” she gestures over her shoulder “if you want.” Her hair is piled on top of her head with a giant red scrunchy. He wants to brush all the little hairs falling into her eyes out of her face. He, obviously, doesn’t do that, but he does sit with her. They work in silence for most of the time.

Jane pushes him to do good work. To think more astutely, to speak more succinctly. She never questions him out of pettiness, or to simply prove him wrong. She just doesn’t stand down when he’s either not correct or not fully thought through his words. Plus, when he finally, finally makes her laugh by making a bunny out of their mutual crumpled papers, she snorts. It might be because it’s three am in a fucking desolate library, but it’s truly the sweetest sound Mike has ever heard.

Before the presentation he’s nervous. He knows they’ve both worked hard, but he also knows they’ve chosen the same topic. They’ll be directly compared, and damn does he want to come out on top. He thinks he’s proved himself already in the class, but he just really wants to make the stronger point, here, because he doesn’t know if he has yet that semester.

He and Jane, or Yukawa Jitsuko, as he sees neatly printed on the top of her academic roster for the next semester one day, hit their topic from the exact. Same. Angle. He watches with awe as she makes every point he’s about to.

When it’s his turn to go he says “y’all, I swear we didn’t work together on this-“ but proceeds with his project as planned. His professor, who’s watched this little rivalry they’ve had all semester, laughs her ass off, and fully believes them.

And they both get bold, red B+’s on their projects. For not “fully realizing the nuances in the prompt.” Both are furious, even if they both still have Solid a’s in the class. They /finally/ team up as they /both/ challenge the grade in long, similar yet not identical essays, that they knew some of the aspects that the professor referred too, but mentioning such concepts would create an unfocused assignment.

One night, mike actually falls asleep on their table in the cafe, and he wakes up when a hand smacks the table in between them, startling him. “This B+,” she tells him fiercely, “is going down with or without you, Michael Hanlon.” And she returns to her computer. And mike tries. He triiiies, but for the rest of the night all he can think about is kissing off that frustrated little frown. He doesn’t because, frankly, he knows quite well that she’d kill him.

but he does get her to go out to breakfast with him the next day. And she tells him about her cat that won’t eat food that isn’t on the direct floor and he tells her about his friends from home and she talks about her affinity for headbands because “why would I want my hair in my face when it could. Not be. Why would I want that?” And he tells her “I know, logically I know, buying expensive sneakers is really, really dumb. But I still … want them?” But then Jane takes that and runs with it and talks about conformity within community. And they stay there until the water has separated in their ice coffee and the waitress wants them dead.

And mike?? Has dated, don’t get me wrong. But he’s like… he’s courting her?? He brings her her favorite snack and offers her his jacket and demonstrates his value and he doesn’t know what decade he crawled tf out of but he’s just like GOTTA IMPRESS HER and texting the groupchat and Richie is like “you don’t like her unless you put your jacket over puddles.” and Stan’s like “fuck that put your whole body on the puddle.” And bev is like “shut the actual fuck up guys, just ask her out mike, she will say yes.”

And so they submit their appeal to their professor in the library at a sensible two in the afternoon. Finals are done. Mikes never been so tired. and Jane turns to him and says “so, do you want to get coffee?” And he says “but we’re done the paper?” And she squints at him and is like “I’m aware, Michael.” And he be like oh. OOOHHH. but he’s Pumped and picks up her bag anyway and asks her opinion in puddles and she snorts and flicks his ear but they’re giggling and mike is just so happy to have someone that pushes him and makes him his best self. And wants to kiss him??? DOUBLE WIN.

(But he’s lowkey pretty happy when he finds out her major is bio-ethics. God knows what would happen if they shared a degree path.)

🔥+ benvi because i feel that rant was so personal 👀

This is my favorite thing to talk about ever:

So benvi has become like one of my all time favorite ships. Childhood Academic rivals to reluctant friends to lovers is a god tier trope. They encapsulate everything I love in a ship.

1. They understand each other:

Example of this is in season 1 when Ben gets Fabiola and Eleanor to talk Devi into going to spread her dads ashes and make up with her mom. Ben knew that they were the only people who could get her to go. He also understood just how important it was for her to go.

Another example of this is all the subtle looks they give each other, especially in class.

2. They make each other better:

They do this through many things, one of the things being their academic rivalry. Through their competitiveness they have managed to make each other better and more well rounded students. They push each other to work harder and better.

They also just make each other better people in general. The closer Ben and Devi got the more Ben began to break out of his “asshole” persona and become a more likable person. He also got more confident in himself and his ability to make friends. Also standing up to his parents was huge and that was in large part due to Devi.

Through their relationship/ friendship Devi has been forced to start to grow a little. Ben pushing her to make amends with the people she has wronged (her mom, Aneesa). He has helped her start to heal! Ben has helped her become a less selfish person.

3. They have similar goals and ambitions:

They both want to go to Ivy League schools and plan on having somewhat high powered careers . (I’m partial to them going into a STEM type of career but that’s just me).

4. They are able to be themselves around each other.

The times Devi’s true personality comes through is when she is with Ben. She doesn’t ever have to put up a front to try to “be cool”. She allows her walls to come down and to be vulnerable with him. Something that she has never done with Paxton. She trusts Ben completely and that he is the one person who she feels like she can really talk to.

Same thing with Ben, he is way more comfortable with Devi than he is with anyone else. He is a kind and wonderful person and Devi is one of the only people to always see that side of him. Even before they were friends he expressed concern for her and knew when something was wrong with her. She alone is one of the only people that really knows how his relationship with his parents really is.

They are each other’s best friends!!

Also, the use of this line when Devi kisses Ben kills me, “All my life I’ve been hiding myself, just waiting for a boy like you”

I don’t know if this was intentional or not but this line really solidifies just how vulnerable Devi is with Ben. She hides herself from everyone, except Ben.

5. The banter!!!

The slightly insulty banter with the underlying sexual tension… there truly is nothing else like it.

6. THEIR INSANE CHEMISTRY!!!!!!!

In conclusion, these two are the pure definition of soulmates. This ship is so superior to d*xton is every way. I am incapable of being normal about them and I make zero apologies for it.
