as much fun as we have, i think most if not all of us know roy+jamie having romantic confirmation in series (as otp or ot3 in royjamiekeeley) was never on the table or written on the page. the cast enjoy the spontaneity of teetering between comedy / intimacy in their chemistry, and the writers leave silly trails for the audience to either follow or ignore. i did however, take some excerpts from phil dunster’s interviews that convinced me s3 ending will truly leave it all wide open for ted lasso viewers to decide where things lead for the characters.

exhibit a, we’ll likely see more implications and suggestive dialogue that indicate something deeper than just friends brewing to the point that even phil admits it’s quite blatant, and not dismissive of the concept. but again, even in a reality where going past platonic is in a later script, they’re taking baby steps and only just achieved official friendship. not to mention how difficult it still is for both to give words to any range of feelings. they are nottt ready.

exhibit b, many people are used to shows tying up loose ends in a neat little bow, that is not the case here. idk if that’s bc of a possible 4th season? or genuinely just that it’s a nice echoed motif where the future is unwritten and the potential should remain endless to our imagination. i have no idea what jamie’s last stop for us to witness will be but i trust that phil actually loves it for him. since the characters apparently will have many paths available at their feet, and he’s a self proclaimed royjamie, i think we can connect the dots in that he would choose one of the options that lead him there lol!

but yeah they’re honestly just pressed for time when it comes down to it, it already feels rushed and paced abruptly in some areas, my guess is that if there was a s4/s5 or even a spinoff this wouldn’t be out of reach at alllll. based on how much lgbt rep caught me offguard it’s not an untouchable topic in the slightest. especially with a dynamic so unplanned.

we’ll have to see what the last two episodes bring. madness. that’s what. but imma have a good time regardless <3 jason feel free to prove me wrong btw

Hi there! How are we doing on this fine sunday? I spent the day at the beach and of course, that gave me some ideas so ahem ahem ✨beach day with carmy bear✨

First let’s talk about the most obvious thing ever but…this man looks HAWT okay?!!? He already does on a daily basis, doing the most regular things ever but at the beach????? 74 dead, 192 injured.

anyway yeah he looks really good but also:

You manage to whisk him away for a few days, just the two of you to relax and you rent a small house by the beach. Your goal is basically to get him to slow down a bit, catch up on some sleep and have fun, you know?That in itself is tough because he!!cannot!!relax!!!!!!!!! But he’s also very very in love so he agrees for a weekend away.

He carries all the bags because he was raised a gentleman and there’s no way you lift one pretty finger of yours k?

You insist on putting sunscreen on his back and face and okay maybe it’s just an excuse to give him a nice massage and maybe he knows that but plays along too

But he’s just as protective, always making sure you’re hydrated and you’re wearing your hat if you’re seating in the sun.

i might be almost 21 but playing in the waves!!!!!! and making sand castles!!!!! at first he might think it’s a little silly but not in a mean way, just the kind of thing he doesn’t think of to have fun because he just doesn’t have fun yk? but he helps you and realizes it is actually fun. it definitely turns into a competition btw and you end up both winning and eating ice cream as a reward.

Playing cards too!! i feel like he knows one or two great cars games that he’d teach you, something he got from Mickey or Cousin maybe?

also napping on the beach. he lays his head on your belly while you read and you’re playing with his hair and the weather is nice and it’s actually pretty good to feel the sun on his skin and—when you notice he’s sleeping, you don’t move, just let him take whatever he needs.

you 100% make sure to take a billion pictures of him, of the two of you (you send one of him sleeping to nat <3) and he tries to take aesthetic pictures of you, he snaps a few more just to keep for himself.

a lot of talking too!!! he’s been working a lot, you too, life got in the way so you take the time to catch up—you tell him about the new show you want to start with him, he tells you about a flea market he’d like to check out. It feels nice to catch up and somehow it reassures him? Like his anxiety gets too much and he’s scared you might be unhappy but then you talk and you tell him you love him and you want to do things with him and his chest feels less heavy.

who says day at the beach, says watching the sunset together. of course it’s beautiful but carmy keeps looking at you and the way the light seems to hit your features so perfectly well because he’s a sap.

You get a little cold and he’s instantly handing you his sweater. And I just know his heart melts when you nuzzle closer to him <3

I love to think he’d stay up at night to listen to the ocean. He can’t sleep because his mind is too loud so he goes on the little patio and listens to the sounds of the waves on the shore. Maybe you join him, rest your head on his shoulder and enjoy the moment with him. he hasn’t felt this happy in a long time.

hey so something you don't know about me is that i love the beach more than literally any other place on earth!!!!! i went to the OBX a lot as a kid and it shaped me into the woman i am today!!!!! i love the beach!!!!!!!!!!!! i even had a finnpoe beach au that was like. god. it was at minimum 10k words and it wasn't even complete yet. i would just work on it when at the beach house my father took me to cause there was no wifi there- but enough ab me!!!!!

i agree that baby boy canNOT relax, poor thing. but you could talk him into it saying he can try all kinds of new restaurants and get some ideas for a seafood course for the bear menu <33 and ughhh i just. staying in a cutie little beach house with him!!! i used to go to the beach every year and when i got old enough to really appreciate the whole day, my fav thing became evening walks and i know those would sooth his soul sooo much

"there’s no way you lift one pretty finger of yours k?" i will sob??? i will actually cry and scream and roll around on the floor???? god i just. carmen carrying your bags upstairs to the house while you take stock of all the general beach things available in the shed underneath. yall know how beach houses are on stilts? yeah like that. and placing your shampoo and body wash and things in the outdoor shower so it can be used first thing, because once everything is unloaded all you wanna do is walk down to the ocean and once you're there, well, who isn't gonna jump in!

massaging the sunscreen into his back, the way he would sigh a little, and you can press soft kisses to his cheek as you do so. ugh i looveeeee him!!!! he would be so so protective, making sure there's plenty of snacks, and if you're hungry he'll walk the beach with you until you find a little sandwich shop or taco place for whatever you wanna eat. he's confused at first why you're making a sand castle, preferring to sit and read his book, but suddenly he's finished with a chapter and spending time with his girl seems so much more fun, so before he knows it he's packing wet sand into the mould sitting across from you, sandy shins and messy hair, but he's all smiley too

the poor thing would get so exhausted from playing in the waves, probably bc he's not used to it. swimming in the ocean really takes it out of you!! so when you're laid out under the umbrella reading he grumbles like "babe, lemme... c'mere," and tugs you just a little closer to rest his head on your tummy :((( playing with his curls while they dry from the salt water, forming them into perfect little spirals, putting a little braid here and there

just talking to each other and catching up in such a relaxed setting is so sweet im gonna sob. maybe y'all snagged a beachfront place so you can watch the sun set over the water ((i have never seen this... #eastcoast)) while you're sitting on the rlly comfy deck chairs, he's got a beer and you've got a little cocktail he made you, and you're playing cards and chatting about what's been going on lately. just sitting out there together listening to the waves, wrapped up in his sweater from his culinary school i- i genuinely cannot. i love him and i love the beach. I LOVE HIM AND I LOVE THE BEACH!!!!!!!

Somehow Palpatine Returned

Ok I had a hilarious thought and I need to share it with all of you. I don’t normally venture into the Sequels, for all that I have been a FinnPoe and a FinnPoeRey shipper for years, or into anything close to canon,  but I want to share this with you. 

Picture if you will the moment where Poe is telling the audience that ‘Somehow Palpatine has returned’. Ponder for a moment Obi Wan Kenobi, in the Force, at that moment. The look on his face. 

We are going with, somehow, Palpatine managed to hide his real identity from the Force Ghosts so they did not know he was still alive. 

We are also, from my own personal headcanon, going with the idea that Obi Wan severely dislikes (as close to hate as he is capable of) Palpatine and has for almost fifty years at this point.  Like 90% of the horrible things that happened in Obi Wan’s adult life can be traced back to Palpatine (both directly and indirectly).

At the moment that Poe reveals that Palpatine is back, in the Force Obi Wan starts swearing. He starts swearing in every language he knows. He starts mixing languages in his swears. He starts inventing new curses and new languages to be able to express his displeasure at the news. 

Obi Wan Kenobi is about ready to materialize into the mortal plane for the sole purpose of ripping Palpatine’s arm off and beating him with it (in a way that violates all manner of physics and Force). 

Slightly to the Left of Obi Wan, Anakin Skywalker is staring at his grandson in mild horror going ‘why are you…this’. 

The Force starts manifesting people to calm Obi Wan Kenobi down (For fear that Obi Wan will break…everything). First Force Sensitives and Jedi he cared for, then Clones, then non force sensitives, even a few old enemies.  

Note 1: Maul appears at one point and screams ‘Kenobi’ for a really long time, to the point that everyone else (other than Obi Wan) looks at him. He shrugs and goes ‘I just wanted to get your attention’ then goes to sit down next to Satine so they can both score Obi Wan’s curses while splitting a bottle of Force Wine. 

Note 2: Maul and Satine have a weirdly cordial relationship for being a pacifist government official ex girlfriend of a Jedi and the Sith Warlord that murdered her in front of said Jedi, but they have found in the afterlife that they both get joy from the face Obi wan makes when they argue about something inane with him. Also they may be each scoring Obi Wan’s swears (with the occasional addition of Yoda, Dooku, Ventress, and Padme) but they are using different metrics so their scores are vastly different at all time (Maul is scoring on Creativity, Violence, and the number of organs violated; Satine is scoring on creativity, number of languages used, how poetic/rhythmic, and how well it translates into basic).

A battalion's worth of clones are arrayed around Obi Wan, taking notes. Quinlan Vos appears and vanishes in rapid succession as he helps to calm then egg Obi Wan on (at which point the Force yanks him away only to be convinced to put him back). Cody tries to calm Obi Wan down for precisely three minutes, then he realizes what has Obi Wan so steamed. At that point he goes ‘no this reaction is completely valid’ and starts discussing how one would make some of those curses a reality (as they do violate physics, the Force, and human structural integrity. Also Palpatine does not even have some of those organs) with Qui Gonn Jinn, who is deeply amused but happy to bond with his pseudo son in law. 

Plo Koon wanders through and announces that he is adopting all of the new stormtroopers both dead and living (in the mortal plane Finn, Rose, and others suddenly get the feeling that they have been absconded with and have no idea why). 

In one corner Anakin, still despairing over Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and his life choices, is having an ongoing yet supremely awkward family reunion with one or more of the following at any given point and time: his wife, whom he had a hand in killing; his daughters adoptive parents, whom he helped murder; his daughter’s husband, who he tortured, froze in carbonite, and sold to a bounty hunter; and his step brother and step sister in law that rose his son on a planet that Anakin hated, whom he only didn’t torture because he never remembered they existed; Assorted Jedi who he had been close to, whom he might of had a hand in murdering.

That one corner has so much passive aggressiveness that it is insane.  A lot of Anakin asking out loud why Kylo Ren is…like that with one or more of the previously listed people going ‘Maybe if his grandfather didn’t become a Sith, Ben wouldn’t have gotten the idea’. Which is both slightly unfair, as Anakin had been dead by the time Ben Solo was born, but also funny as anything. 

Also no one in that corner was actually discussing their elephant in the room, which was Anakin turned out to be THE PROBLEM for two decades. 

There is an ever growing parade of everyone Obi Wan has ever met being thrown at him by the Force because the Force effectively went: SHIT that is a lot of anger. Deflect.Deflect.

I remember all the handwringing over Reylo, how it would teach young girls that abuse was okay, how it would lead them to accept being mistreated, how liking him was as bad as a girl who thirsts over school shooters, etc. And yet look! Society has yet to become pro-abuse and the fans of the pairing who identify as women have not been murdered by their romantic partners en masse.

But despite this open contempt for the pairing, people also convinced themselves the only reason you could ship Kylo/any guy was hatred of women and not, y'know, trying to avoid the obsessed haters who had devoted anti-Reylo blogs for 5+ years. Also it was totally unhealthy of you to ship Kylo with anyone, said people with a dedicated blog where they discussed their hatred of a fictional man for half a decade, and you should get therapy for your sickness.

My personal least favorite moment of the the new trilogy fandom's plague of antis was them attacking a friend of mine. See, if you don't ship Finnrey, you're an anti-black racist (unless you ship Finnpoe in which case you are of course a misogynist fetishizing Poe, a space Latine). No one told my friend this, so she very obliviously drew some Finnlo, and all hell broke lose. People said it was like shipping a slave with a Nazi, that it demonstrated the dehumanization of black men by fandom, that it was akin to zoophilia since Kylo owned Finn, etc. It hit a peak of ridiculousness when someone self-harmed and sent my friend video of them doing so to show her how 'wrong' it was to ship the two.

My friend responded by contacting the parents of the person who self-harmed. Cue antis saying she was an adult harassing a minor. You know, because if one person is putting cigarettes out on themselves to spite someone on the internet and another person is saying "that's concerning", the latter is in the wrong, obviously.

I'm not even in this fandom but I support Reylo and Finnlo out of sheer spite at this point because I hated the manipulation and massive freakouts from the Finnrey crowd so much.

Sometimes people are going to ship something that's not your OTP and that's okay. It's not worth burning your skin off for.

Right now Star Wars, but I’ve also written for star trek, the witcher, teen wolf, marvel… maybe some others?

I did some round-robin type fics, but I am not a good writing partner since I struggle a lot with schedules and deadlines

I’m a chronic multishipper so it’s honestly the ship I am writing for at the moment (this morning it was RexFoxFives, this afternoon it is TechPhee)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I always plan to finish WIPs, no matter how old they are (stares at across the stars) but there is a codywan fic I started for the 2021 codywan big bang and didn’t finish. I still think about it ALL the time

16. What are your writing strengths?

Hmmm one thing that I've worked on a lot is structuring plot. In long fics I like to include off-hand details that then become relevant later. And I do put a lot of thought into characterization so hopefully that comes through in my writing >.<

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Endings! I sat on trying to find my way home for three weeks before I added like twenty words to the end and just posted it

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

It depends. I used to do it a lot but now that I primarily use screenreaders to edit, I don’t love it.

First published on Ao3? Star Wars (FinnPoe my beloved) But I was definitely writing little epilogues to each of the Chronicles of Narnia books at the age of 8

Finnpoe Week Day 3: Sharing clothes/The jacket

I decided to draw a scene from a Modern AU, lovingly called Hallmark Villains AU, I've started writing some time ago. Sadly I have not written that scene yet 😅. But instead have another excerpt from their first meeting. Maybe I'll manage to finish the parts I have already written in time for Modern AU 🤞���.

"What can I do for you?" The same voice from before addressed him again.

Finn turned back to the reception desk and met a pair of warm brown eyes. In this moment Finn realised two things: He definitely swinged more on the sexual side of bicuriosity than he had previously assumed. And he appearently had a thing for brown eyes, dark curls and dirt streaks in a face. Not that he was that interested in meeting anyone new in the like five first minutes of his spontaneous single status. But Finn had always appreciated beauty in all forms, be it colorful birds nesting in curious places or camp and flamboyant fashion choices or hot bed&breakfast persons.

"I need a room for a night. You are my only hope."

The man laughed.

"We have indeed some rooms left."

Finn released the breath he had not been aware holding.

"Thank fuck. You are a life safer."

During August 19-26, you guys will be given 2 prompts each day with 1 of them being an AU. You can choose either or both or even combine them to make content for FinnPoe. You will also get one free day to do whatever you want. 

Do I have to write or make new content for the event?

While we would encourage new content, it's okay to repurpose old work as long as it hasn't been posted before (unless you are rewriting, redrawing or re-editing said work and will be creating a new and separate post for it.)

How involved do I have to be?

We encourage everyone to be involved every single day of FinnPooe Week however we understand that everyone has lives outside of FinnPoe (unfortunately) so it's entirely okay to participate as little or as much as you want. If you don’t want to create anything but would still like to participate as a spectator, we would encourage you guys to check out our spectator activities.

How can I participate?

Easy! Create a piece of media centring FinnPoe using one or more of the prompts on the bingo and post it using the tags or under the Ao3 collection. 

How can I participate if I don’t want to/am not able to create new content?

Why have themes or prompts?

Themes provide coherence and inspiration. Without them, people will either create whatever they want and there’s no order or purpose to the event OR people get stuck on what they want to do and end up doing nothing. They are meant to help with content creation but we will have a free day to allow for more freedom and flexibility.

Finnpoe one shot. 700 words. Kisses and fluff. AO3 link ~~~ Poe is up late and Finn needs to wrangle him to bed

There’s always work to do, and Poe doesn’t know how to do things in moderation.

It’s well into the night cycle, and the command centre is near-empty. Poe is at a terminal, reading reconnaissance reports on First Order-controlled systems in the Outer Rim. Despite the crushed leadership, the remaining officers hold on tight. Poe pours over the data, examining strategies to free these systems (and then also prevent them from falling into the hands of Outer Rim crime syndicates).

It’s never-ending. Poe’s eyes burn and he stops every few minutes to roughly rub his face. He could delegate this role to someone else; he trusts the command team. But if he wasn’t working on this, he’d be throwing himself into something else. He can’t sleep. There are ghosts in his room and echoes in the hallways. Victory was a fleeting sensation, and the adrenaline has long since worn off.

He keeps reading, bouncing one leg to keep himself awake. He considers stims, but that’s a habit he was proud to break; he can’t get caught up in that again.

Someone approaches the terminal. Poe’s stomach curls. At this hour, it must be someone presenting bad news. It’s always bad news.

He turns and Finn is standing there, holding a mug. ‘Oh, man, it’s worse than I thought,’ he says. ‘You look terrible.’

Poe wants to laugh, but it catches in his throat. He coughs. ‘I’m fine.’ He rubs his face again. ‘I mean, I’m not. But, you know.’

‘I have caf,’ Finn says, offering the mug. ‘I still don’t know how you like it, and unsweetened, too.’

Poe waves his hand vaguely. ‘Yeah, thanks, uh, just put it on the desk.’

Finn does so. ‘The caf is only for if I fail to convince you to go to bed.’

‘How’re you gonna do that?’ Poe asks, swallowing a yawn. He can’t prove Finn’s point for him.

‘For starters, sleep is important. Especially for a pilot.’

Poe snorts and returns to the screen. ‘You kidding? I’d kill to be in my ship right now.’

‘No one is stopping you.’

‘I’m stopping me.’ Poe holds up his hand. ‘Which isn’t a good reason, I know. Sleeping comes hard, though. I just. I just gotta keep going.’

‘I thought the point of making me your co-general was so you didn’t have to do this alone.’

Poe’s head jerks up. Finn isn’t upset; in fact, he’s smiling, patient and knowing. Still, Poe cringes and drags his hands down his cheeks. ‘I’m not. I wasn’t trying to—’

Finn leans down and kisses him. It’s very abrupt and more forward than Poe expected. It’s a little awkward but warm and comforting. Poe falls into it, and sighs, weary, wanting. He’s glad Finn initiates kisses now, a sign that the constraint of the First Order had forever washed away. A sign that Finn belongs right here with Poe, with the Resistance.

It’s exhausting work to clean up a galaxy so fractured and Poe doesn’t think he’s going to get a good night’s sleep for a long, long time. But Finn is beside him, his co-general. Finn grew into a leader, selfless and level-headed, the traits Leia was trying to guide out of Poe. Hell, Finn is probably a better leader than him, and he understands moderation.

With some exceptions. When Poe responds to the kiss by opening his mouth and touching Finn’s arm, Finn doubles his efforts. His tongue prods, pushes past Poe’s lips and he cups Poe’s cheeks. The worry melts away, for now, and Poe touches Finn’s waist. He chases Finn’s mouth until they’re both standing, pressed together, panting. For a brief moment, the galaxy is very small and very warm.

They pull apart, but not too far. Finn noses at his cheek, embraces him gently. ‘How do you feel?’

‘Like I just kissed a beautiful guy.’

Finn chuckles quietly. ‘The feeling is mutual, pal.’ He gestures his chin at the desk. ‘You gonna drink the caf I graciously made you?’

‘Unless you’re gonna offer me something better?’

‘Right this way,’ Finn says, nudging Poe’s lower back.

Poe follows, arm around Finn, and allows himself to enjoy this small, warm part of the galaxy.

Most of my first lines are quite brief and simple, establishing a location or a time of day. I often like to start just with dialogue, too, mostly when it's a more lighthearted story. But what really got me is the sheer overuse of parentheses in my titles alkfjadjfkllsk

finnpoe week wrap-up✨

whew! finally had a moment to breathe, so I figured I'd make myself a wrapped post to celebrate/reflect (and brag a little)

when the finnpoe week was announced, I set myself a truly insane goal of posting something for each of the 7 days. in the end I posted 6 fics (5 brand new & 1 finished WIP) totaling 9,601 words (wow!!), and 1 piece of fanart (for the first time ever!). ngl it was a MASSIVE amount of effort and I barely slept😅 but I really enjoyed doing it
