Queerness in Indian Media
↳Film: DEDH ISHQIYA (2014, Hindi) dir. ABHISHEK CHAUBEY
Dedh Ishqiya is a dark comedy which follows two criminals, Khalu (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi), who decide to con a widowed noblewoman, Begum Para (Madhuri Dixit). Unbeknownst to them, Begum Para has got a plan of her own: find a rich suitor, swindle him out of his money, then run away with her maid, Muneera (Huma Qureshi), with whom she is in love. The womens' plan takes several alarming turns, but ultimately Begum Para and Muneera are able to trick Khalu and Babban, elope together, and live happily ever after.
The lesbian relationship is loosely based off of Ismat Chughtai's 1942 short story Lihaaf, which was an extremely controversial story in British colonial India for its allusions to sexuality and lesbianism, and which resulted in the author being called for an obscenity trial. The short story includes abusive and pedophilic elements which Dedh Ishqiya does away with; instead, Begum Para and Muneera's relationship is one of mutual love between adults.
Abhishek Chaubey discusses his films, including how he came to include the "lesbian strain" in Dedh Ishqiya and how "learned friends" helped him with coding the relationship, here
The actress Madhuri Dixit has been in multiple gay and gay-coded media, both as a supportive character and as the gay character herself. She has also been supportive in real life of the LGBTQ community.

I've been meaning to make a list of spooky (Thai - because negl that's 99% of what I watch) BL series and movies and what better time to post this than in October?
Spooky BL are my favourite flavour of BL. Turns out, there's actually a lot of them (maybe because Thailand does horror so well). These are only the ones I've watched (and enjoyed) so this list isn't complete.
*On another note: horror doesn't faze me at all so I can't really accurately say how scary some of these are. If you have squicks or triggers like jump scares, gore or bad endings please feel free to ask and I will do my best to give you a heads-up.
✨Spooky Thai BL✨
He's Coming To Me | Probably one of the first series everyone will think of. Not that spooky but a solid ghost(love) story with a murder mystery at its core.
Hidden Love | This is a budget show filmed under serious constraints during the worst of the covid pandemic. It's clichéd. It's over the top. But it's also got its charms. It comes with a tragic ghost (love) story that completely overshadows everything else with its many flashbacks and plot twists. If you manage to get over the camp. I warned you.
Tumblr media
Dear Doctor I'm Coming For Soul | This one has reapers and ghosts and lots of bittersweetness. It's not that creepy since the supernatural elements are very matter-of-fact. It will make you cry though, sorry. :(
Tumblr media
Ghost Host, Ghost House | Spooky with incredible chemistry between the leads and a cast of characters that you will immediately fall in love with.
He She It | A three-episode miniseries with a haunting soundtrack and a nice plot twist. This will make you miss JeffGameplay. :(
Tumblr media
Low Frequency | Not spooky at all, and a bit slow and empty at times, but it has ghosts (in a way) and a sweet enough couple.
Tumblr media
Make a Wish | Unfortunately, this has never had an inter release. There's inofficial subs floating around on grey sites but as of yet the series hasn't been fully translated. Which is a pity because it's a cute show about angels and spirit possession and (some) murder mystery.
Tumblr media
Midnight Museum | I'm stubbornly putting this under BL. This show has everything and everyone. It's genuinely spooky at times but mostly draws on folklore, the mystical and an absolutely stellar cast.
On Cloud Nine | Short and beautiful. An indie production that's more ethereal than genuinely spooky.
🎞️Red Wine in the Dark Night | The oldest entry in this list. Admittedly, not very spooky (and instead rather surreal and sad), but it has one (1) vampire and Fluke Natouch in a role that's more grounded than we're used to nowadays.
Tumblr media
Something in my Room | A spooky show with ghosts, mystery and romance that hides a lot of commentary behind metaphors and allegory. Criminally underrated because it didn't have a wide enough release. If you want to binge something fun and spooky for Halloween then this is the series to go. Prepare tissues.
✨Not a BL but hey, I know that actor!✨
Enigma | Win Metawin (and surprise guest!) in an incredibly well done 4-episode series about the occult with interesting worldbuilding and the promise of a second season.
🎞️Ghost Lab | Tor Thanapob and Ice Paris in a genuinely gruesome, shocking and scary horror movie. You've been warned.
Girl From Nowhere | One of the best things tv has to offer, and genuinely dark as well. Up Poompat, Pepo Nutchapan and James Teeradon feature in some of the loosely-connected episodes.
🎞️Hoon Payon | Phuwin Tangsakyuen, Up Poompat and Bank Nuttawat in a classic spiritual ghost story. More shocking than scary.
🎞️Inhuman Kiss | Oab Oabnithi and Great Sapol (sadly, not as a couple) in a sad and romantic take on a classic Thai legend.
Let's Fight Ghost | A Thai remake of a fun and somewhat spooky kdrama with spiritual themes. And Saint Suppapong.
🎞️Pee Nak 1, 2, 3 (and soon 4) | I'm biased because I really like this movie series. It's spooky but in a fun way. It has queer characters (as comedic relief - but not in a degrading way) and can get surprisingly deep. Watch this if you want to see (baby!) Tar Atiwat grow up on screen (because he's in all four movies). The third movie rewards you with some surprisingly sweet MeanPlan that might continue into the fourth movie.
School Tales | A Thai horror anthology centred around students at various schools. This series has Fiat Patchata, Kay Lertsittichai, Pepo Nutchapan, Mark Siwat and, most prominently, Saint Suppapong and Chimon Wachirawit in well-paced 50-minute episodes.
The Stranded | One of my favourite series ever. If you watched LOST then you know what to expect. This has 3 QL couples (Perth Tanapon & Mark Siwat, Win Pawin & Tanthai Tatchapol, Ticha Wongtipkanon & Chaleeda Gilbert) but don't expect any of them to get a happy ending. Sadly, this series ended on a cliffhanger and won't get a second season due to the lead actor's tragic passing and Nadao's dissolution.
✨Upcoming Spooky BL✨
7 Days Before Valentine | Death Note but make it even more of a BL. Patrick Rangsimant originally wrote this so I'm really excited. Plus, it will begin airing in November which is almost as good as October.
Tumblr media
🎞️After Sundown | A period ghost movie that hit Thai cinemas this summer to great success. There's currently no news on an international release.
🎞️Death Is All Around | Saint Suppapong coming through with another spooky production - this one about death and the afterlife. This also has Seng Wichai, Bas Suradej and Dun Romchumpa (presumably as a couple).
The Hell Guards | Chains of Heart but make it spooky. Oh, I am so excited for this!
My Imaginary Boyfriend | Based on another one of Pat Rangsimant's novels (my favourite, atually). This one is more grounded, and spooky in a more psychological sense.
Mystique in the Mirror | Another one of Pat Rangsimant's novels (and psychological horror too, by the looks of it). This one started filming back in early summer so it should be airing soon.
Tumblr media
Shadow | This series will air its first seven episodes on Halloween and that should tell you everything you need to know. It's a suspenseful (ghost?) story set in a Catholic private school.
Tumblr media
Spirit Reborn | This has the potential to be very spooky, with curses and spirits and past lives.
Tumblr media
SunsetxVibes | This is going to be messy and spicy but the short pilot trailer did have spooky undertones and possible spiritual themes.
The Whisperer | More psychological horror but this time not penned by Pat. Apparently, this has been in production for a while so hopefully we'll get some news soon.
Tumblr media
Zomvivor | The only zombie series on this list has entered pre-production and is slated to be released in 2024 (hopefully before October). Will it have BL? I don't know, but it stars pretty much all of domundi's acting couples (and more).
1000 Years Old | Will it be spooky? No idea, but it does have vampires and sometimes that's enough.

What fans say:
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron:
I was a Horse Girl TM, so I watched this movie a million times as a kid. It's honestly the best horse animation I've ever seen, all the backgrounds are gorgeous, and the soundtrack is incredible. Also the plot is anti-colonial/anti "taming of the west". Genuinely cannot pick a favorite scene, but I love the scene where Spirit commits many acts of violence against the US military <3
horsie :) I love how they use actual horse body language instead of just turning them into a dog. Also enjoy how the protags are easily understandable with just body language and neighs. Also the 2d and 3d animation blend seamless.
I cannot begin to tell you what makes this movie so good. It's a corner stone of animated media. The societal commentary. The incredible emotion of not only the story but the animation. The songs. Sound the Bugle makes me cry every time.
This movie was a key part of my childhood and “Sound the Bugle” still makes me tear up.
This is like the greatest horse movie of all time and I will not change my mind. I watched this movie so many times as a kid that both the VHS and first cd I had for it got ruined and we had to replace it with another cd LOL. I once convinced my teacher to let us watch it in class because it had a few scenes with Native Americans and we were learning about them at the time(It's about the old west and the expansion of the United States westward so it has some Native American characters but def not enough to make it a Native American film, but it does have positive representation I think?) The main character is the horse Spirit, a lead stallion for a herd of mustangs. His thoughts are narrated but he doesn't actively talk and the horse behaviors are pretty realistic, also the ART of it all, James Baxter was one of the lead animators for this film and his work is incredible, and hand done. Some of the behind the scenes stuff in the extras makes the animation look 3d its so good, and the camera work is also insane. As a horse obsessed child this movie was a staple for me, and I prefer it even over live action movies with actual horses. ALSO THE SOUNDTRACK OH MY GODDD how can I almost forget, the soundtrack for this movie goes so hard, I used to use some of the songs as hype music not even lying.
The Mitchells vs. the Machines:
It’s in its core about family, how we can drift and argue. Not because of one true fault, but because we are different. It shows how being weird and different don’t make you less of a family while not demonizing people who do have more stereotypical ‘perfect’ families. I think it portrays our humanity and the way we bond and what we do for those we love, what we sacrifice, so well. It’s so funny and so sweet.
It's funny and the family is neurodivergent and it's just really nice v good time it looks like anti technology at first but its clearly more of a criticism on capitalism I just really like that movie its pretty to look at.
It's funky!!! hang on, bullet point list time: - has such a unique and expressive animation style - has a lot of pop culture references that don't really feel overbearing - has honestly one of the best family dynamics in a movie I've seen???? - realistic characters!!! with realistic and interesting character arcs!!! - absolutely hilarious. makes me laugh every time i watch it :) - comedic villain! gotta love me one of those. also she's badass for a smartphone so - tHERE ARE FURBIES - basically it's very chaotic but also heartwarming, and it's honestly my favourite movie :D
Heartwarming story about family! Also kickass animation
Very good stylized animation. Well written and designed characters. Super funny and sooo heart warming. Fucking rad action scenes (again the animation is fantastic). The story comes together well, it's just quite well written. + Protective dad character who's not annoying as hell (that's rare!). I love every part of when they're at the dinosaur museum thing.

romance: untold album review, the koishua way!
moonstruck: track one starting it off SO strong. this darker rnb suits enha SO much it's so atmospheric and intimate i love the melody during the chorus it's so melancholic and you can hear the desperation ugh definitely will abuse the replay button and write pics based off this song
xo: Y'ALL. so happy they went for this vibe this cb bc i have been CRAVING down bad enha it's such a chill song im surprised this was title track but im also very happy. their discography is so good and the variety in their title tracks is AMAZING. headbopper for SURE it's so catchy
your eyes only: DOWNBAD!ENHA scrumptious. not my favourite off the album but it fits the album's theme and vibes and it's SO fun especially the yayayayaya chorus parts hehehe. victim of the 2 minute song epidemic :(
hundred broken hearts: it's giving melancholic love song soundtrack to a drama but chill if you get what i mean. ending credits kind of ugh so so good im absolutely in Love with this album's concept and sonically it's an absolute BANGER
brought the heat back: THE FUNK RIGHT OFF AND THEN BLASTING INTO THE SONG Y'ALL I LOVE!! it's SOOO groovy. absolutely will be a song im blasting while hurrying and strutting down streets oh GOSH the beat is SO ugh the chorus im salivating it's so so so fun i can't i just can't y'all drum pad coming on STRONG such a wonky song in the best way possible i would unironically end up listening to this song the most i feel like ahhhaha and the bridge breakdown??? JAY WOWWW too bad it's still in the 2 minute range 😞😞
paranormal: rock-esque, fast-paced beat, nice vocals in the verse and the background choir coming in briefly i like it hehe probably the song i'll listen to the least bc moonstruck and brought the heat back exist haha
royalty: getting city pop feels i LOVE!! the chorus is SO cute ahahaha baby you're so precious!!!!!! hybr pls give these boys songs longer than 3 mins i beg
highway 1009: now THIS is giving proper end of movie soundtrack haha can imagine a monologue at the end of a n anime movie about coming of age hehe i LOVE the guitar awww the song itself is so cute as well
overall: 8.8/10 it's nothing groundbreaking in terms of sound, but it's done amazingly!! i love how the entire album carries that boy-in-love feel in each of its track :( deffo a comfort album especially with how highway 1009 finishes it off if we're not counting XO's eng version! fav songs are moonstruck, hundred broken hearts and brought the heat back!! not as an in-depth review as usual, going off on vibes mostly

Okay, let's be honest - this comeback is amazing (aside from the fact that Siyeon is not part of the promotions; but I wish her all the best and that she gets better again asap!).
Justice might easily be my new favourite title track, I absolutely love this song. It's super catchy, the melody is great and the rap flows seamlessly with the general vibe without feeling like it's out of place. Since I'm a rock-/metal girl, I'm also very satisfied with the stronger rock sound. The first part of the prechorus that Gahmidong sing is immaculate, then the second part of the prechorus that sounds like marching towards a fight; it really works well to transition into the chorus. Especially the "fighting" prechorus also reminds me of league of legends songs, like warriors. In general, I really like how they worked with dynamics. For example in Maison, it's all pretty much one beat and volume most of the time but in Justice, it builds up and down, there are parts where the instrumental is really light and then others where it's really strong and intense. It feels like a lot of thought went into the creation and elaboration of that song and that makes me very happy.
StΦmp! is also really cool, it reminded me a bit of Shatter in the way that the chorus and the verses are really different. The prechorus flows so sweetly and sounds so nice and then the chorus hits with a nearly metal sound, it's like an invitation to join and sing with them. In case you've heard of them, Amaranthe has a similar "electronic metal" style and StΦmp really made me think of their music. I also had to think about how it could be a great soundtrack for a Barbie movie (in a very positive way), where it provides a really strong "we can do it together" music, like in the 3 Musketeers or something. My sister said she could also see it being played in a club or something.
2 Rings has a bit of a country rock vibe which I really enjoy as well. That was the song where I wasn't really sure if I'd like it after listening to the highlight medley, but damn, it wasn't a disappointment. A good friend said it made her think of a Halestorm album from 2015, and I (as a rock/metal person) think it's great that Dreamcatcher's vibes become rockier again and even remind of rock/metal bands. The part in the (pre)chorus where the melody goes down in steps also sounds a bit Måneskin-ish which I think is great.
Admittedly, I haven't listened to Fireflies that much yet because I'm not usually the type to overly enjoy the ballads, but it's not a bad song at all of course! I might give more of my thought process about this song once I've listened to it a few more times.
What really surprised me is that the Intro is so long - nearly 4 minutes! I think that's the longest intro/outro/skit they ever included in an album and I love it. It's a whole instrumental song that really makes a great prequel for the other songs.

:) If you have the time and would like to, I wondered if you’d share some of your favourite j-pop / anime songs? I think you have excellent taste whenever you share your opinions, so I’d love to listen to your favs.
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for sending this, I love getting asks and you're so sweet. PS your art is super cute, love your colors! (I'm gonna reblog some as soon as I'm done answering this. <3)
...wait. MEG!??!?!?! i THOUGHT I recognized that art style! OH MY GOD how long have you been following me and I didn't know?? ;___;!! Hello how have you been!? AAAAAAH!
Okay, I will calm down and. Answer the question asked. XD; Anime music! Here's some tracks I really love, in no particular order and also I'm all over the place style-wise.
youtube
"Blue" from Cowboy Bebop is one of my all-time favorites. Honestly the whole Cowboy Bebop soundtrack is amazing and lives up to the hype for sure with its jazz/Old West style with spacy and harder and more modern vibes.
youtube
"Ashita Kuru Hi" from Kobato. was the next one that popped into my head! This song gets several different versions throughout the anime, because it's a tune the main character sings all the time, different verses for different events. It even gets a Christmassy reprise in one episode! This is the full, basic version of it featuring music box. But this piano-opening version with more sweeping instruments plays over the finale credits... While I'm at it, I WILL plug the entire soundtrack. It is ADORABLE and is nice sweet background music for work and study.
youtube
Gotta give a shoutout to Mob Psycho 100's opening themes for sure. They're all so good and seat-dance provoking. "1" is my favorite of them, it's so intense!
youtube
"Yuzurenai Negai" from Magic Knight Rayearth is really nostalgic for me, being the theme from one of the first anime I ever bought bootleg fansubs of from a shady man at a monthly comics expo. XD It's definitely a "classic anime" kind of song, with that adventurous shoujo feel.
youtube
"Matsuri Uta" from Blue Seed is one I was introduced to without having ever seen the anime it's from and I still like it. It has a slow, quiet start and is just a very pretty piece. (I like to sing along to it, hehe.) Here's another arrangement without the lyrics but with more instruments.
youtube
WHILE I'M ON Megumi Hayashibara...I'll also rec "Give a Reason" from Slayers. It's so punchy and upbeat and really inspires a person to get up and GO! You know what? Here's "Get Along" too.
youtube
I could recommend any of "Cardcaptor Sakura"'s opening and closing themes, but "Hitorijime" sticks out to me as a funky little track that's just extra fun to listen to. In the same vein is "Groovy!" and the video features a hypnotically bouncing Kero-chan so you can't lose.
youtube
I could fill an entire post of its own with Sailor Moon music but instead I will gesture wildly at "Moon Revenge" from the R Movie and yell that it features one of my favorite things in any anime song--vocals by the cast.
youtube
SPEAKING OF...here's another one of my ultimate favorite anime songs of all time, "Yamerarenai Yamerarenai" from Tenchi Muyô! The entire main voice cast going absolutely ham in character singing about all the little pleasures in life. Absolutely delightful!
youtube
Okay last one for this post because this is probably way way too long as it is. "Party Night" from Di Gi Charat! Specifically the Hyper Parapara version. I love this shit so much. This is the music video version because I can't resist, but here's the full song.
Okay! I'm outta here! Thank you again for asking, it was fun to follow my stream of consciousness and just post whatever fun thing popped to mind next. XD

hello :]
i think someone's asked you your favourite daft punk album before, but if you had to rank all of them how would you do it?
have a nice day!
*in columbo voice* Jeez, I dunno.....
Here is my list (from least favourite to favourite) of the Baft Dunks
Tumblr media
Tron Legacy (2010): This is the one Daft Punk album I really don't have much to say about it. I haven't seen the movie itself, and I haven't really listened to this soundtrack either. Derezzed and Son of Flynn are pretty good though.
Tumblr media
Alive 1997 (1997): Contrary to what many believe, Alive '97 isn't that boring. It's a pretty good sampling of what Daft Punk concerts were like pre-robot and as a result it's very raw and primitive. In a good way, of course (it was recorded at the Que Club in Birmingham, one of the great bastions of the UK rave scene so of course it'll sound raw). 10 Minutes of Funk and the Daftendirekt remix are a highlight for me.
Tumblr media
Homework (1997): Move the gun away from your screen, let me talk for a bit. I really like Homework, and I think a lot of the songs on it are perfect French Touch tracks (Around The World, Fresh, Indo Silver Club, the list goes on). But when I look at that album length I think I die a little. Other than that, an absolutely smashing record.
Tumblr media
Human After All (2005): This is the first album on this list that I really love. Maybe it's because I really like repetitiveness, but this album almost acts as a brain massage. Maybe it's because of the robot humming in the title track, or the Madness Mantra style lyrics in Technologic or the calm instrumentations of Make Love, but it calms my nerves down, in a weird way. Give this album a second chance.
Tumblr media
Random Access Memories (2013): This was the first Daft Punk I ever properly listened to, and I've got a very distinct memory of it, being in the back of the car on the way to an Elton John concert. The concert itself was alright, but nothing could compare to when I heard Giorgio by Moroder and Touch for the first time. Although we didn't know it then, I think this album serves as a perfect finale. It's an homage to the robot's heroes (prominent features from Nile Rodgers and Paul Williams), and to the ones they inspired (my boys Julian Casablancas and Pharrell are on two of the biggest songs off this album). Makes me tear up a bit every time.
Tumblr media
Alive 2007 (2007): Ooh yeah baybee. Da reeeal shit. Literally every single song off this album fits like a fucking jigsaw puzzle. It was so good it made critics reconsider HAA. Television / Crescendolls. Prime Time / Brainwasher / Rollin' / Alive. Human After All / Superheroes / Rock'n'Roll. The list goes ON. There isn't a single moment off this record that I don't remember, especially the crowd, who sing Da Funk somehow. Best live show and best live album.
Tumblr media
Discovery (2001): Not a single dull moment off this record. The instrumentation. The virtuoso-level sampling. The visuals. My absolute favourite album from Daft Punk, and my favourite album period.
Conclusion: I really like the funky robot boys.

For the ask game: strength, the hanged man, and the tower :)
Thank you so much for your ask, it's greatly appreciated! 💜
•the hanged man: favourite movie soundtrack?
Oh I absolutely love movie soundtracks in general, (along with tv show intros) it might even be one of my fave genres! What first came to mind was the soundtrack of "Das Boot" but I wouldn't listen to the entire thing actually...
Whereas the soundtracks to the Karl May movies (a series of (mostly western) movies based on the (in Germany) famous books by Karl May) are way more sth I always enjoy listening to. [Example below]
But "The Great Escape" also has a pretty nice soundtrack worth mentioning
youtube
•the tower: favourite colours to wear?
Blue. I always end up choosing blue clothes in all kinds of shades because it's just such a nice colour. But other than that I actually really like grey or beige because they're easy to combine and to add colourful accessories to
•strength: what is your dream occupation?
Sorry, this is the one question I can't answer because that exact topic is something I'm struggling with at the moment and I simply don't know right now...

5 Songs Tag - QL Shows Edition
tagged by vi @feralmuskyscentedhoepran ♥ thank you once more for thinking of me with these cool tag games ^^
When you get this, list 5 songs from the Asian QL media that you actually listen to.
🎶They do not have to be custom-made for the series. 🎶Non-western tracks only. Let's support Asian music and languages! 🎶Feel free to tag anyone who may be interested in participating. 🎶Add #5qls tag to your post for others to find the new favourites!
all of these will be from thai shows as i mostly pick up songs from those. i've also been watching mainly thai shows lately so i don't have much else to choose from, sorry...
I. ข้างกัน (City) - Fourth Nattawat and Gemini Norawit (Cover) My School President OST / Original by Three Man Down
Tumblr media
To be honest, I love both the original version and this cover from MSP. The cover just holds double the meaning. It is both part of TinnGun’s story – their first meeting, their beginning, the reason why Tinn fell for Gun and why they fit together now – and PuenTalay's story in their own universe. It connects these two universes too, and that is why I’m so fond of it. Also, Gemini and Fourth make this song sound even softer than it already is. (My other favorites from MSP ost are Healing, Let Me Tell You, and the cover of Just Being Friendly, tho the whole soundtrack is just phenomenal.)
II. ใครคลั่งรักกว่ากัน (Madly in Love) - Jimmy Jitaraphol and Sea Tawinan Our Skyy 2 x Vice Versa OST
Tumblr media
This song is so very PuenTalay but also so JimmySea. It’s extremely soft, romantic, a little playful, cute, and just loving all the way around. It compliments both of their voices and styles, and just makes me super happy. The lyrics are nice too. My favorite part is the one where Jimmy changes the way he sounds in the chorus (Idk what to call it sorry). It’s towards the end of the song. It’s just super cool somehow and very addicting.
III. คลาด (Over the Moon) - Khaotung Thanawat The Eclipse OST
Tumblr media
Absolutely obsessed with this song. One of the best theme songs a BL has ever had, hands down. Truly lived up to the hype I got from hearing this song in the mock up trailer. I love Khaotung’s voice, the visuals in the MV, the lyrics, the instrumental. Overall just a perfect song for me specifically. (To be fair, The Eclipse has had two of my favorite soundtracks with this and their Our Skyy 2 song. Instant hits, no question.)
IV. ก่อน - Pchy Dew The Movie OST
Tumblr media
I don’t think any other piece of media has ever made me feel the way Dew The Movie does. It was, and still is, simply everything to me. And this song. This song. I cannot put into words how perfect, how wonderful, how special this song is. I cry every time I hear it because it’s just so fully packed with all these feelings I cannot describe. I love it. I love it so much. And for the love of god, if you haven’t watched this movie, go do it right now.
V. ร้อยล้านวิว (Million views) - Stamp Last Twilight Pilot Trailer
Tumblr media
I don’t know how well this song fits the criteria for this game but I found this lovely thing bc of the Last Twilight trailer and now I cannot get rid of it. It’s been on my playlist ever since this trailer dropped in November and not a day goes by that I don’t listen to it. It’s just so good and always brings me back to these moments. I keep hoping they would keep this song in the show itself or that they will get an OST that sounds similar, instrumental and lyrical wise. Bc my god did this song hit again once I stopped being lazy and looked up a translation for the lyrics. Now I’m crying even more bc of it thanks.
Bonus: พระเอกจำลอง by Getsunova from the Theory of Love OST. One of my eternal favorites. This song just is the show.  Special mentions: These are western songs so I didn’t want to include them to the list itself but I have to mention that Blueming brought me back to sød ven’s music bc they used the song hollow for the show (the beach scenes to be specific). I am forever grateful. Also, I love the songs both Not Me and Never Let Me Go used in their soundtracks, specifically this one and this one (both are instrumental as these shows have made me appreciate instrumentals a lot more too).
Tagging: @dimpledpran @snimeat @wanderlust-in-my-soul @dragonsareawesome123 @oswlld @leonpob @stormyoceans @ayan-sukkhapisit @nongnaos ♥

For "anonymously message me (3) things you want to know about me":
What's your favourite soundtrack?
2. What's the most difficult, most rewarding and weirdest part about being a teacher?
3. Do you ever write little asides/scenes that you would love to be in your fic but can't put them in as they don't vibe with your characterisation/storyline? I absolutely adore your writing and I am all for staying in character but sometimes I need some cathartic fluff to cancel out all the agnst! Your Another Life one-shots are so good. I would LIVE/DIE to see Snape being super open and emotional about Lily with Ariel but I'll just have to live in hope that he gets to that place in A&I!
Hope you're having a lovely summer! <3
To a movie? I literally love everyone by Hans Zimmer but it probably has to be all of the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks. I listen to that shit all the time, makes for EXCELLENT battle music while keeping it light.
2. Most difficult is the relationship with other adults, whether that be parents or colleagues. I had a really bad year with a colleague who is the product of never being told "no" as a child, so she is the literal worst. Most rewarding is seeing the growth the kids make in a year. The end of the year culmination always makes me look forward to seeing what they can do the following year and knowing I'm sending up good quality and quantity to the middle school. Weirdest is how much extra stuff there is, apart from the actual content preparation and teaching. Like, this year, I became the therapist for this group of 6th grade girls who were having friend drama. Every day they came to me to ask me what to do and I would literally talk through my lunch period about how to communicate in a kind way that resolved the problem. And when I say weird, I mean weird as in, these kids trust me and that's nice, but it jut adds this whole other layer on that idk, they don't teach you how to respond when a kid comes to you and says their best friend is fat-shaming them - and they're like, 12.
3. I have SO MANY. Most of it is recycled into the "another life" folder but that one is full of so much stuff that has yet to be finished. Unfortunately, right now, a lot of is has some angst (lol). Someone asked me to write the fateful Halloween on '81 with Snape, Lily, and Ariel and that's been - FUN - but it has some fluff prior to it. And then I'm working on the splintering, which has become huge and mentally draining, it scares me at times which is good! but holy shit.
I think I'm still trying to figure out what Snape would be, if he'd been given the chance to be with Lily and Ariel. Happier, definitely, but writing him not being a complete asshole is tricky sometimes. I have a whole bunch of oneshot requests saved up so I'm here for it too!

Get to know you better!
Thank you for the tag @lancedoncrimsonwings!
Do you make your bed? Yep, but somehow my sheets never seem to fit properly. I hate the snappy corners.
Favourite number? 3 or 13, I really like "unlucky" numbers, but I do tend to get good news in 3's so I'm drawn to that number.
What's your job? I work in conservation, but I'm planning to start my PhD soon (employment psychology).
If you could go back to school, would you? Absolutely, and I did! I had some years out when I was younger, and I was scared that I couldn't return after that, but University honestly made who I am today :). If I had infinite money, I would go back and do at least two more degrees (I have a bachelor's in Psychology, but I would 100% go back and do English Lit and History).
Can you parellel park? Uhhh the first time I drove a car (my first and ONLY driving lesson) I drove into another car because I have AWFUL spatial awareness. So no, I cannot parallel park haha.
Do you think aliens are real? I'm kinda undecided on this one. I think I've watched too many horror movies so it's warped my overall view on aliens as a concept, but I would like to think they are real. But it's the psychologist in me that says no. I'm a bit of sceptic (especially with ghosts as well).
Can you drive a manual car? Following my previous car answer, the first car I drove was a Corsa without power-assisted driving and I was yanking the steering wheel like my instructor had suggested, but I crashed. So uhhh...no.
Guilty pleasure?...... I mean, apart from Harry Gilby? Probably not many, but I do like a shortbread (I try not to eat them because they have wayyyy too much sugar).
Tattoos? Unfortunately not, but I will endeavour to get @lancedoncrimsonwings to do a Daniel Sharman tattoo for me one day lmao.
Favourite colour? I used to love yellow when I was younger, but now I really like gold or bronze, almost candle tones.
Favourite type of music? I will listen to just about anything, but currently my playlist consists of Dua Lipa and Sabrina Carpenter. I always put on a good medieval lo-fi soundtrack when I'm writing though.
Do you like puzzles? I am extremely partial to a good sudoku puzzle, but I do like jigsaws as well (I just don't have a lot of time to do them).
Any phobias? I have Hydrophobia, but it's not as severe as it was when I was little. My husband is teaching me how to swim, so it's really nice to be able to get over that fear. I used to be scared of dogs as well, but now I love them :)
Favourite childhood sport? I genuinely don't know if this is a secondary school fever dream, but did anyone ever play benchball? When you stand on a bench and throw a softball at people? If you catch the ball, you get to join those on the bench, but if the ball hits you you're disqualified? It was absolutely hilarious.
Do you talk to yourself? Yeeeep, I think we all do don't we? Although I tend to just kind of speak aloud, normally when I'm writing or reading.
Tea or coffee? I really love coffee flavoured things, but despise coffee itself. Like coffee and walnut cake is my absolute dream. But I have to choose tea, I'm probably the most stereotypical Brit you'll meet, I would carry a box of tea with me if I could lmao. Earl grey is my go to though, especially to enjoy with @waterfallsilverberrywrites TLK fanfics :)
What movies do you adore? I am an absolute horror buff, I'm working my way through every single one. Buuuut my favourite movie is Love, Rosie, so take from that what you will haha.
No pressure tags: (Please do not feel pressured to answer all of the questions, this is purely what you're comfortable with :))

Time to fly!

What fans say:
How To Train Your Dragon:
The message was just nice. I have a lot of nostalgia for it. I used to be a huge dragon nerd as a kid and dragons just weren't that prevalent in media here, especially not as friendly figures. I still love HTTYD and it's sequels nowadays.
It was one of my favorite movies as a kid and one of the few movies I watched that wasn't a barbie movie, it's just really cool.
Best movie featuring dragons period. The pure wish fulfillment fantasy of having a highly intelligent fantasy creature companion that can fly and doesn’t mind being ridden like a horse, therefore also the best execution of the dragon rider trope in all of fiction. Extremely funny, adding to the comedy is the fact that only adults have Scottish accents and all the teens have an American accent. So good that even its tv show follow up was decent by extension. The bit where Hiccup is trying to earn Toothless' trust and they start to work together changed me on a fundamental level.
I LOVE IT SO MUCHSHJKBSKHGDK I have a bone dysplasia which causes some bones to be a little bit more hollow and whenever I would feel a pain in my top back, 8 year old me was like ''woah I'm growing wings its my time to fly like toothless'' lol and it was always a dream of mine to fly. Weirdly enough I could relate to toothless because the "not being able to fly but you should be" felt like an allegory to a lot of my life! It gave me hope when he WAS able to after the help of others + the care he always needed + that mechanic wing thing made me feel like with the right ''recipe'' could help me get better too. My favourite scene is the first flight!! I love the animation for it, it makes me feel like im flying through the clouds too! The soundtrack is amazing too, I still cry to the songs.
I could write an entire essay about how much I love this movie, it truly is one of the best films ever made to me. Utterly flawless on both a technical level and a story-telling level. Not to mention the score oh my GOD the score of this movie changed my life. There are too many scenes that are so impactful, but the Forbidden Friendship scene has to be one of the best. Test Drive too.
This is literally my favorite movie of all time. This movie got me through the worst times in my life. It’s about love and friendship and all that lovely goopy stuff and it’s also fucking gorgeous.
THE cinematic masterpiece of our generation. On god.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece, the animation is pretty, the score is perfect, the relationship between Toothless and Hiccup is so sweet, Toothless is absolutely adorable. Definitely one of DreamWork's best films.
It's a beautifully animated movie about an unconventional viking boy named Hiccup finding his place in a world where dragons and vikings are constantly at odds, and how he changes the world around him. The dragon designs are unique and beautiful, and the vikings are larger than life and match the exaggerated setting.
Who on Tumblr DOESN'T want a dragon best friend I ask you. I would kill to have what Hiccup & Toothless have.
It does a brilliant job balancing tropes in a way that subverts and plays into them. There is so much in it for both adults and kids, it doesn't look like other animated films, it feels more grounded and in that realism it becomes so beautiful. The friendship in the film feels very real despite one of the characters being unable to talk! Forbidden Friendship scene is, in my opinion, the greatest scene in the history of cinema. The music, the lighting, the cinematography, the pacing, the emotions, it is practically perfect in every way. I could go on but I think ya get it.
God this movie defined my childhood and it's still so good when I rewatch it now. I'm guessing you'll have had this submitted a good few times bc it goddamn deserves it but. Hiccup is so relatable and !! dragons !! big cute dragons whose animation models are based on cats!! based fr
I have many fond childhood memories of this movie and in particular I loved how my cousin would "talk" for Toothless (cousin was babysitting us when we first watched the movie). Another thing is The SCORE. The music is iconic and awe inspiring to this day. That first time when Hiccup and Toothless fly together and it Works and the score absolutely goes HARD, I loose my breath every time. It's great. Also have you seen Toothless he's an adorable dragon and a badass, what's not to love?
Makes me cry every time because Hiccup and Toothless are such good friends and they love each other and end up as two halves of a boy dragon soulmate sandwich also the music is extremely good who doesn’t like dragons anyway.
It's the story of a beautiful friendship forming between a boy who doesn't fit in and a dragon who is the last of his kind. It's so cute. And it shows positive representation of disability, Hiccup and Toothless become disabled in ways that meaningfully parallel each other. Hiccup makes a prosthetic tail fin! And Toothless is just so cute!
The sound track is amazing
Honestly everything is phenomenal. It has a good use of comedy and an excellent story and character development. There are also countless beautiful and awe-inspiring scenes supported by an amazing score.
Up:
It is a very emotional movie about an old man learning to still enjoy life even though his wife died.
Such a beautiful film about loss

Finally getting around to doing this! Thank you @thelifeinmyshadesofgrey for tagging me ♥♥♥♥♥ I haven't done these in ages so it was fun to feel like we were back in the 'golden era' of tumblr xD
Tag someone you want to know AND/OR some of your besties: I don't wanna pressure anyone to have to do this, so consider this a warm suggestion rather than a I-will-judge-you-if-you-don't kind of situation @heyitszev :) (and if anyone else reading this feels like it, go ahead, the more the merrier lmao)
Favourite colour: This is a tough one because it all just depends on context so much. I'd say typically I veer more towards darker tones in general: really like a nice dark green, or a dark red or crimson. Purple is lovely too :D
Last song: Two Knights and Maidens by Crash Test Dummies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NS2EcHzdYY
Say what you want about the lyrics, but the chord progression in this song is *chefs kiss*
Last movie: 9. A bit of a strange one perhaps, but an interesting take on a post-apocalyptic world brought to life in a style that reminds me of Tim Burton a little bit. Basically, the world has been destroyed in a war between humans and machines, and we're introduced to a group of sentient dolls, each with a number on their backs from 1 to 9, who have had to survive in this strange new world while figuring out why they were made in the first place. I don't wanna spoil this for anyone who hasn't seen it, so I'll leave it at that :)
Currently watching: I'm in-between series atm haha. Waiting for season 4 of the Boys, and just finished watching season 2 of 30 Coins. Might just do a rewatch of Andor or the Punisher to fill this void.
Other stuff I watched this year: Err… from what I remember (and yes, since we're only in January, I'm counting 2023 into this as well) I'd say Moon Knight, Andor, 30 coins, a rewatch of Supernatural (up to season 12), and the One Piece live action series. Out of all these Andor was perhaps my favourite, but I enjoyed all of them, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the One Piece adaptation remained loyal to the original works :D they obviously had to adjust some things but it still felt true to form. With Andor, I was hesitant to watch it at first because the last SW series I had watched had been declining in quality (weird writing, etc), however… Andor completely blew me away. The way it builds up to the climax was just so well done, the writing is superb, music fantastic, and it's one of those series I wish I could forget about completely so I could experience it for the first time again.
Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: I haven't watched many series I've not finished since I usually watch them to the end anyway, but looks like that new Percy Jackson series may unfortunately fall into this category?
Currently reading: I've been powering through the Harry Potter books. Started during the Christams holidays and I'm now on book 6. So far so good, though I've had to slow down with holidays being over. Might need to reread the Robert Langdon series as well after this as it's still one of my personal favourites.
Currently listening to: This changes daily but I do find myself drifting back to Riot music very often. So, that's music made for League of Legends, Valorant, etc. Not the soundtracks, but songs like Worlds anthems like "GODS" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3GouGa0noM) and 2021's "Burn It All Down" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z6CHioIn3s). I also absolutely love "Breathe" from the official launch video for Legends of Runeterra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNhKAJwlj04). I also like this vid for it heavily featuring Darius, the only champ I ever played when I attempted to get into LoL before the toxicity got to me and I decided it's not for me :3 (didn't take long, but left me with a bit of a soft spot for him lmao)
I absolutely do not play any of these games but man… the music is on point imo. Something again about chord progression, don't ask what my obsession with that is lmao.
If I'm not listening to these and songs like them, I'm listening to heavy metal (industrial or symphonic), movie or game soundtacks, or oldies belonging to various genres from the 70s and 80s, occasionally 90s as well. Here's a couple examples:
Once You've Tasted Love by Take That
Take the Long Way Home by Supertramp
Evil Woman by Electric Light Orchestra
Misplaced by Sonata Arctica
And I will leave it at that as I've already included too many songs lmao
Currently working on: I'm currently making a backend for a gym app I'm working on. I somehow got the GraphQL elements working, now I need to get it saving to a database of somekind. I could do this locally or learn to save data to the cloud but I haven't yet decided which approach to take lmao. Overall, I'm just upskilling in the hopes of eventually landing a job as a full-stack developer. NO LUCK SO FAR aside a couple freelance frontend opportunities :/
Current obsession: Hmm….. good question. I'd say, despite me not playing it as much as I used to, I am slowly getting back to Elder Scrolls Online? Fire Emblem Fates is another, as well as Bleach.

Matilda the Musical at Cambridge Theatre, West End
(Completely off topic from this blog but I thought it was too cute not to share a review)
An absolute lovely production ! Matilda was a Roahl Dahl story I really connected with after watching the 1996 version of the movie, even though I had read the book a long time ago. I had quite enjoyed the Netflix musical, and since I had an extra night in London and they had 20£ tickets available decided to go give it a shot! (Plus I was vaguely roaming around the Donmar area thinking I might give Macbeth another shot but the queue was already so long and it was freezing so decided against it for tonight). Unsurprisingly the room was filled with families and children and I felt a bit out of place squeezing between two groups in my sky high seat in the upper circle, but of course that did not matter one bit once the show started.
Tumblr media
Set and Staging
The set was crazy?? Granted, I have not been to the theatre a lot so I don’t really have a scale for how impressive they can be, but there were so many backgrounds, so many props, entire classrooms and bedrooms rising out of the floors, libraries swinging in and out I genuinely did not expect that level of tech and was happily surprised.
Tumblr media
Favourite Bits
My absolute favourite song was “My House” by Miss Honey. The actress delivered it with so much power and emotion. I teared up a little bit. I knew I liked the song, and I knew it was coming but it is such a welcome and beautiful part of the musical. The Miss Honey character means a lot to me, and seeing her sing this song, then argue with Matilda about what to do with their suspicions of Ms Trunchbull, and then seeing her stand up to Trunchbull at the end? Beautiful, wonderful, cathartic. I was excited to hear “Pathetic” because I knew it had been cut from the Netflix musical, and even though I generally like listening to it as part of the show’s soundtrack on Spotify it did not move me quite as much as “My House” did.
Other thoughts
“Naughty” by Matilda is also very nice, the actress was really good and fun to watch. Ms Trunchbull was a delight to watch, terrifying but also funny because of the caricatural aspect of her character. And the kids were so impressive, the phys-ed scene and the bows were with all of them there and they were so well choreographed. I was just sitting there thinking wow, they really really know what they’re doing. Which yeah, obviously, but it was still wonderful to watch.
It was overall a very nostalgic experience, I kind of wish I had access to something like this when I was a kid, and I am so glad I ended up going to see it.
