if u like listening to music while u work but find urself getting distracted fiddling with queueing stuff/finding The Perfect Playlist/etc my recent hack has been just throwing on youtube videos of dj sets

book club radio is a good channel to start w bc they usually have the overall Vibe of the set in the title (i.e. "dreamy pop mix", "energetic techno mix" etc) so u can pick the general tempo or w/e u want but then it just kind of blends into the bg and u can set it + forget it

any time i put my own playlists on i'm just too familiar w what could be coming up and i end up wasting so much time skipping/scrolling 2 look for specific songs and stuff. dj sets are like putting a post-op doggy cone on me. it;'s out of my hands

#also youtube videos of dj sets are just fun.#it kind of has a similar vibe to sitting in with a streamer while u work? the ones i watch have video feeds of the parties they're at so it #Feels ambiently like hanging out w people. like putting on coffee shop ambient noise.#anyway speaking of streaming + dj sets i've also recently really been enjoying playing risk of rain 2 on easy mode just to loop endlessly #and selecting the perfect dj sets to put on the in bg based on the character i'm playing #(ror2 obviously has an EXCELLENT soundtrack already but i play it so much that sometimes i just want something different)#and anyway i'm excited to come back and do some vibey ror runs w handpicked dj sets in the bg. it's a nice time and i think u'll like it to

#I can tell you one thing #Embroidering while having arthritis is really not a piece of cake. When you hand cramps just by holding it at an angle.#At least I can be grateful for my empty schedule #Makes embroidering till the sun rises back up so much easier #Insomnia also helps with this task #I was listening to the ost while working on it and… Live reaction #Occupied turf is so good actually !? Why wasn’t it shown more often !? IT’S FIRE !?#I forgot I only did a pacifist so I got so confused when neutral Flowey came out…#A mother’s love ? Should’ve called this “I’m gonna fuck you up”#The number of time I got my ass handed back to me in this fight is not even funny #The first time is great. The second I only discern my favorites and the sudden change in style. By the third loop I can’t recognize shit #my brain is melting and my eyes are on fire…#Advantages on doing it during daytime. Eyes hurt less. Good stupid tv to listen to in the background Disadvantages. People #Advantages on doing it at night. Alone. Personally work better at night #Disadvantages. No good TV. Time goes by slower…? I don’t know maybe I’m just loosing it with those freaking petals #For reference one petal took me about 3 and a half hours. So yeah… I thought it would never end… Took out almost all my yellow.#When the line tangles itself in the back and you realize only close to the end of it that half went missing #So you have to go backward to entangle it and loose 30 mins because damn it #Cats are not helpful in any of those scenarios #Why do I feel the need to make the back perfect when nobody else but me will know #This is the last time I do one so big without thinking it through #Note to self. Well, I finished this off the other night, so I figured I might as well get it up this evening -- here's the latest chapter of "Start At The Beginning...Sort Of!" Featuring the group finding themselves in surprise trouble with Duskwall's police after something unexpected is found on Barkis's corpse, and what I feel is the best damn chase sequence I've ever written. trying to lay out my interpretation of why brad and judy are simultaneously awful and really goddamn sad, beyond just having lost their baby under traumatic circumstances as already-traumatized autistic young adults with zero support system left but each other, is wild because it includes in full seriousness the word 'sheepnado'

#sdmi #scooby doo: mystery incorporated #brad chiles #judy reeves #tl;dr they are Like That in large part because pericles fucked them up in a very particular way #that made them dependent on him to give them cues for what to do and validation for the results #and when they suddenly had that ripped away they dealt with it by just making a closed loop where they follow each other in circles #in order to make one semi-functioning adult with a semi-functioning ability to actually choose to set out and do things #nothing else really *matters* to them outside of that fragile closed loop (and christ it is fragile); they set up a steady source of income #and then just fuck off to go effectively be alone together for 20 years; amassing and perfecting a bunch of random skills #because they are both very intelligent in some ways and Need to Stay Occupied; but what else are we gonna do #just aimlessly follow each other in circles and there's no room to actually choose a direction from there #and if anything breaks the closed loop; or doesn't fit into a hesitantly expanded version of it they had in mind #they freak out and they lash out at it even when they're pretending to be cheerful and unaffected #and the only real reason they *did* have to act on caring about something outside that feedback loop before--fred #ended up *being 'sit on your hands and do nothing for 20 years'*; when they are border collies climbing the walls without things to pursue #then suddenly that's gone and they can go care about fred again! except Oops now there is a force influencing them whose entire thing is #'induce artificial craving for Thing.' they try to love fred but they also resent him for being why they spent 20 years with nothing to Do #especially when things are Different now and he's his own person who doesn't really mesh into a closed loop with them; instead of the baby #they could have imagined whatever they wanted about all that time. they are desperately exhausted with caring about fred #and deeply traumatized by having done it; & at this point when a ball is waved in front of them to go fetch that they aren't burned out on #they go 'fuck it sorry kid you come second this time.' and then he *very purposely* cuts ties w/them & therefore any possibility of a loop #and they stop caring completely and lash out instead; especially because the person who fucked them up like this in the first place #has waltzed back into their life and snapped his fingers for them to heel. now they're great tools for his agenda including abusing ricky #'he's a genius right brad' 'my loyal brad and judy' siding w/pericles despite ricky having been a more reliable choice who explicitly treat #them as equals and doesn't constantly insult them and talk to them like pets. and then when something as small as Looking Different breaks #that one last most supposedly dependable loop they had they break down and start lashing out at each other. they 'behave like children.'#there's so much here man. they suck so goddamn bad and they fuck me up. thinking about the oldgang for the rest of my life

Current craving: Ink as a self-aware yandere who becomes fascinated with us.

Platonic, romantic, I don't particularly care which one it is but I need it so desperately. I need it, and yet I can't bring myself to write it. Not because it makes me uncomfortable, but because I am experiencing detrimental writer's block as my mind is being overrun by Kieran from Scarlet/Violet, just the Forces of Nature from Pokémon in general (Tornadus my most beloved of the quartet), and Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" playing on loop 24/7

thinking about finarfin time loop/generally how elves might percieve a time loop fic possibility again

#I don't talk about this one because it's really hard to do a good time loop with a character as generally undefined as he is #but I think elvish time loops would be interesting bc canonically they experience time differently?#so it's like. would they just loop over until some event happens that they can't stop.#and because the ages of the world are somewhat predefined? maybe that's a set point #a loop for a decade versus a day and you'll never know if you got through #and yet so much can happen in a day #it would be more of an investigation of how paradoxically fast and slow time is experienced #and Finarfin in particular because you're putting a side character into a position centred around him somehow #but also where he feels there's little he can do #put him through the horrors more etc.#what would all that cumulative experience do to him. does he reawaken and the feanturi just feel it #does vaire try to keep track of how tangled the threads of time are #anyway the whole “you do something so big and bold and brash and it changes nothing in the end” thing is perfect for him #that's what he feels like every day #finarfin #tolkien

while i am preemptively stressed about how my balcony plants are going to go over the winter, it is rather nice to sit in my little jungle now
