so i found a new blorbo CHARLES SUN and…
you would have to sedate me i’m sorry
*feral* the show is so good, excellently paced and well-acted…. plus, it has all the stuff we enjoy the most:
whump, crime family, family drama, daddy issues (MAJOR!), mommy issues (MAJOR!), well-done action sequences, trauma, “protect the family” sense of duty mindset, lots of baking (by my poor blorbo charles as a coping mechanism), sibling issues, oldest son vs youngest son dynamic (- two brothers, who have both spent their lives competing for attention, approval, and freedom; in their own different ways -), conflicted tortured oldest son, did i mention major daddy/mommy issues and PLENTY OF THE GOOD OL’ EMOTIONAL WHUMP.
and oh their troubled mother is played by THEE MICHELLE YEOH !!!!!!! ✨MOTHER✨
ahhhh charles, his father brainwashed him, turned him into a ruthless killer and put him through so much trauma. my man just wants to have a normal life, bake pastries etc and reconnect with his mother and brother. like look at him (HE NEEDS A HUG AND SEVERAL CHURROS)
i am a sucker for this type of genre. 10/10 no notes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MY FRIENDS, GO WATCH IT 🎉.

I love the murder/suicide scene (and I've watched it far too many times), but I'm realizing more and more how incredibly cruel it is.
Izzy is always looking at Ed and Ed knows this (I saw ya - Course ya did), but Ed only grants Izzy those little glances, not more. When they are directly interacting, Izzy's eyes are on Ed's every expression like a laser beam - and Ed is distractedly looking out to the sea, turning his back to Izzy or looking at other things/people.
And then, in the middle of Izzy's worst nightmare, Ed comes in and really looks Izzy in the eyes for an eternity, soft light, so close, over the barrel of a gun. Looking more beautiful than ever, not the Kraken anymore. This is Ed, finally there with Izzy, totally in the moment - he's even holding his hand for a bit.
After all this time, Izzy finally gets Ed's undivided attention - but only because he wants Izzy to do something for him. The worst thing he's ever asked of him. The ultimate act of cruelty.
No wonder Izzy tries to kill himself.
(the only other time Izzy gets Ed's full attention is when Izzy is dying - those two really are closest in death, aren't they)

If I ever don’t cry at Ylfa’s scene in The Trials of the Baba Yaga, somebody needs to come beat me over the head with a stick until I get my humanity back

honestly a big fan of the combination of Classic High-Concept Sci-Fi Horror Idea combined with shitty, unsettling ass CGI body horror
that's a 10/10 from me folks

Love in the Air: Sky’s Ex is Watching
I’m sorry, this is incredibly telling that I’ve over-analysed every Prapaisky scene like I’m in the goddamn FBI. But something has occurred to me and I am SHOOK.
In the very quick glimpse we get of Prapaisky’s one night stand (at a hotel), it looks strikingly similar to the hotel featured in the scene where Sky’s ex ambushes him. Similar mirror, same sheets, similar headboard.
Now.... (holy moses--). The ex knows that Sky contacted him to find out about the race, but he wouldn’t know that this was a favour Sky called in for Rain. What if asshole ex thinks it was Sky trying to get in, and worse still if he actually was at the race and saw Sky & Prapai’s encounter, and them subsequently head to the hotel together? What if seeing them together triggers him (because I’m completely imagining this guy to be the absolute worst piece of shit with no rational drive behind his actions). Like the type to see their ex with another person and be like ‘you’re not allowed to be with anyone else even if you’re no longer with me, guess this is my cue to try to ruin your life’.
If so, that could be what leads Sky’s ex to act out of jealousy - ambushing Sky in the same hotel to enact some form of sick and twisted revenge? I’ve had a bad feeling that the ex might (at some point) catch Sky and Prapai together from afar. But I never considered the possibility that the ex might actually see them from the get go.
When this all lined up in my head, I went cold. Literally my heart dropped.
(Because we all need another reason to cry) - another heartbreaking detail I’ve just clocked. If you zoom in on the screencap above, Prapai’s knuckles are scraped and bloody. He must have done a real number on Sky’s ex.

another thing i love about the scene where nancy, steve and robin take on vecna is that you know they were thinking about max.
yes, all of hawkins and all of their friends are in danger (some, like eddie and dustin, more than others). but vecna was gunning specifically for max. max, one of steve’s beloved children. max, determined as nancy and silly as robin, an irreplaceable member of their family. their teenage friend who fought beside them, who has already been through hell and back, who was sacrificing herself to give them time to kill him.
they had a ton of reasons to kill vecna. but in that moment, max mayfield was responsible for their fire & was at the front of nancy’s, steve’s, and robin’s minds as they fought him.
so imagine how they felt when they couldn’t find vecna’s body. when they heard the clock strike 4 times. yes, it meant a huge reckoning for hawkins. but nancy immediately whispered “Max”, and they knew.
