There is such thing as 'dire machine' which I found out a whiiiile back and I love the concept so this is Sniper's Campervan. Her name is probably just Camper or Cameron.
inspired by the great 'dire machine' artist ratbat (18+ content on her blog be warned!!)

I love libraries.
I'm browsing the WWI shelves (as you do) and notice a very old book about the war. I glance at the first pages that talk about how one day the war will be over and we'll look at this place and not see any signs of the battlefield.
Then it hits me. And I check the publishing date.
This book was printed before the war's end. Not written. Printed. The physical object was created in 1918, while the war in question was raging and the end was as yet uncertain.
Now I'm standing on the other side of the apocalypse, with this physical link to that era in my hands. I'm living proof that the war did end and life did go on and we can all look at the end of the world as a long-ago memory.
Reading old books is cool enough, connecting our minds and hearts through the ideas of people who lived long ago, but there's something extra profound about holding a copy of the book that comes from the time that it was written. It's a physical link between the past and the present connecting me to those long-ago people. A piece of the past come into the future that gives me the chance to almost take the hand of some long-ago reader, to hold something they could have held, connecting not just mentally but physically to their era, a moment of connection across more than a century.
Excuse me while I go weep.

Happy [Incredibly late] Valentines Day !!! Decided to do a trio of illustrations as I’ve done in previous years of diff forms of love!! Its only 3 but heres the list:
Sundew & Willow -> Romantic Love [They’re a classic! First queer POV’s and impactful ones for me!! They’re sweet together <3]
Qibli & Ostrich -> Familial Love [they are Cousins to me!!! Adopted family who are very protective of each other]
Turtle & Peril -> Platonic Love [Their friendship is so nice to me!! I don’t ship them at all - the heart motif is just used to symbolize love!!!! Also Turtles scales are canonically “as strong as diamonds” so him & Peril can make physical contact without Turtle getting burnt lmao]

my internet went down for a bit earlier so i decided to draw all of the sprites, with the catch being
i have to use my mouse
the only colours available to me are the default palette from paint
no looking up references for the sprites (because no internet)
additional notes under cut
the order i did these in was light, water, earth, lightning, nature, arcane, shadow, wind, fire, plague then ice
i did the light sprite without realising that you could use the pencil for anti-aliasing, i didn't want to redo it
the nature and plague sprites have somewhat mirrored poses on purpose
my internet did come back up while i was in the middle of these but i continued since i didn't want to leave a set unfinished
the earth sprite has a boulder because... from my recollection they're the least visually interesting one, i also think they'd be pretty strong (poor earth, getting shafted during festivals was there from the start u_u)
wind's my favourite one that i did, followed by arcane
the colours were kind of a struggle...
i did the ice sprite twice since i wasn't satisfied with my first attempt, but i'll still post it anyway because that's what i do
the eeper

Once there was a space cadet who rose through the ranks of a fleet of cosmic conquerors. His unmatched strength and overwhelming charisma quickly landed him a spot among the elites of their crew. One day, however, the cadet's heart of gold caused him to waver before a helpless enemy. Realizing the brutality of his race of conquerors, the cadet refused to partake in any more mindless killing. His crew quickly turned on him, ready to wipe him out of history for his insubordination to the empire. A magical cat oversaw the entire ordeal and used her powers to transport the dashing young man out of harms way. It wouldn't be long before the cat's cloaking magic would wear off and the empire would locate them. The pair knew their lives would be changed forever. With the cadet's legendary combat abilities and the cat's unwavering support, they would go forth as exiles into the cosmos, to build a new crew founded on the virtues of friendship.
Or at least, that's what karkat and nepeta were roleplaying about
