- i write/ draw w my left, but hold food utensils incl chopsticks w my right. and i use a right-handed mouse. but when i chop veggies or sth for meal prep i hold the knife in my left

- bilingual: i know russian and english fluently. my parents had a "no english at home" rule when my sister and i were growing up, which i found annoying at the time but now im pretty grateful to not forget my mother tongue, and be able to communicate w the extended fam back home

- im extremely near-sighted, im talkin i could hold out my own hand in front of my face and itll be blurry

- idk if this is dating me too much, but i played a lot of neopets when i was young. i had like 4 or 5 accts, and even got my sis into em. i remember sneaking onto the family pc to play, and then sneak away when i heard my parents approaching

- i currently have short hair. i started cutting it myself since covid cuz salons were closed and it was getting too long, i was startin to look like that aLiEnS guy 😂 and now it saves me time and money, and as a bonus i dont have to leave the house for it which is always a win (id prob be a complete shut-in if i didnt have to work lol)

- ive got 16mm gauges in my ears, i think thats 00G? currently wearing silver tunnels atm. i miss my grumpy cat plugs, but alas theyre only 10mm iirc

- ive got 7 piercings i think, lets count: 1️⃣ tongue, 2️⃣ left side lip, 3️⃣ right nostril, 4️⃣-5️⃣both earlobes (stretched), and 6️⃣-7️⃣ a double-helix (intentional for the pun lol) on my left ear. i used to have a second row on my lobes but when my gauges got too big i had to take em out. kinda wanna get em repierced at some point and put the little cuffs back. debating an industrial in my right ear too (goin for some as.symetry) also wanna get a second piercing beside my current lip one (apparently thats called a spider bite 😳)

- never learned to drive cuz either got driven everywhere by fam/ friends, or relied on public transit. plus idk if i trust myself behind the wheel, it feels like itd be too overwhelming x_x

- i enjoy me some vaping. in classic meiko fashion, prefer the *fruity* flavours. tho ive had a couple good menthol ones. not a fan of dessert flavours, theyre nice for a few hits but vaping it for an extended time gets too sweet. ive dabbled w a bit of cigarettes too tho not a fan due to the nasty aftertaste. i also enjoy me some hookah, tho ive not indulged in years

“Your birthday is coming up? Are you going to do anything?”

You picked the wrong person to say it to. Jaehyuk had been sitting next to you in your home, textbooks open and assignments mostly finished in front of you. Despite the fact that he always seemed busy, you had plucked up the courage to ask him to work with you for assignments--and he seemed to happily accept, remarking something about how he noticed your work ethic and felt comfortable working alongside you. He’d noticed the date on your calendar, lovingly circled by one of your housemates when you accidentally let it slip that your birthday was soon. All of them were busy (fortunately for you: one of them loved parties and you knew that you wouldn’t have gotten away with nothing had she not had both school and work taking up all her time that day), and you were fully prepared to spend another birthday on your own.

You shook your head, continuing to type away. “Nope. Never have, probably never will.”

He frowned at you, leaning forward just enough to try and get a better look at your face. “Don’t... Don’t Americans usually have big parties?”

“Never did,” you rattled off, not ceasing. The tip-taps of your keyboard came in a steady rhythm at this point, thankful that you could speak your first language for this assignment in particular. “School ended in early May for me, so everyone was gone.”

In your school-focused haze, you didn’t notice the way his gaze had gone completely soft while looking at you. “And your family...?”

“Not important,” you said. Jaehyuk knew your relationship with them wasn’t perfect, but it still hurt to hear that things always sounded worse than he thought. He didn’t like to dwell on it, actually. “Does it matter? Yoshinori had a birthday a few days ago. Did you guys do anything for him?”

They did, since Yoshi was their friend, and Jaehyuk reluctantly rattled off his answer. “But what about you?”

“You’re busy. All of your friends are busy.” He wanted to correct you with an ‘our’  since he introduced you to them a while back and pretty much all of them accepted you since you looked after everyone you shared classes with (and, at times, the ones you didn’t since you still knew them). “All my housemates are busy,” you said a beat later, “I’ll probably just get takeout and watch a movie if I’m not busy.”

If you hadn’t been staring at your screen, you would have noticed that he had reached for his phone, already texting the others if they were down for a movie night with you to celebrate your birthday this upcoming weekend. Despite the initial texts not knowing that your birthday was soon, there were a few concerns regarding their free time. He quickly said something about how they absolutely didn’t have to decorate or anything special: just you, some takeout, and maybe a cake for all of them if they could all pitch in for one. Just to give you some company since you never had it before.

That had been what changed all opinions to a resounding yes after Jaehyuk promised to give more details later with a promise that no one told you that he had spilled them. They were fairly busy, sure, but surely they’d have at least half a day to themselves this weekend. They’d spend part of it working on their own things (Jaehyuk knew that everyone would be trying to get through their homework as best as fast as they could just to keep up with class), and eventually invite you over for a movie night. It’d be a little surprise, and Jaehyuk had offered up his own room just to keep you from traveling back home late at night.

Maybe some of it had been born from sympathy for you, a foreigner mostly on your own now. While none of the others were as aware of your situation as Jaehyuk had been, they knew it had to be rough to be mostly alone in a foreign country--some more than others. One night together would be fine. They could make it work. It’d mean they’d have to give up free time to pursue hobbies, sure, but they could afford that if it’d give you a good birthday this year.

So they decided to leave it as a surprise. From nights studying hard together, Jihoon was the one who knew your go-to takeout order. You’d always order the same thing, and he’d sometimes tease you about being so predictable before insisting he’d pay since you were kind enough to help him in areas he was struggling. Only half the time you’d actually listen, but he’d try at the very least. The others vaguely knew of your favorite movies enough to find copies or find them on streaming services. In-between the homework and their other duties, they found time to get you a store-bought cake.

There was slight discomfort in feeling you deserved more. That you deserved a real party, with decorations and more food and music--but there was reassurance in knowing you. In knowing that you’d understand to begin with, but also in knowing you as someone more lowkey. Someone who would prefer just a quiet night, even if it was with twelve occasionally rowdy guys, where you could have takeout and watch your favorite movies alongside them. Asahi knew that you’d point out your favorite moments when you could, because he’d seen the way your eyes sparkled from the other end of the couch on a movie night Jaehyuk had arranged for you all during a rare relaxed day. It hadn’t been your favorite movie that day, but it’d been one of the ones he knew you enjoyed because of every little moment of pointing out details that came with rewatch after rewatch. He listened from their dining table as Yoshi came in with the comfiest blankets he could find, a quiet caring shining through as he straightened up. Or the way that Haruto had texted the group chat earlier, asking if it’d be fine to run and get your favorite drinks in another subtle gesture of caring.

There was an unspoken agreement to make tonight as cozy as they could for you. If you couldn’t celebrate your birthday with anyone the day-of, then you deserved to at least feel like it was celebrated somehow. If that was a movie night with some good friends, then so be it. All of them did harbor some affection for you (it was sweet to see that you started looking after the younger part of their circle, like Jeongwoo and Junghwan, with the occasional text to take care of themselves and that you were always happy to help if they needed someone), and it hadn’t been much of a surprise that Jaehyuk brought up your birthday when you had little good experience with birthdays. Pretty much everyone there could recount being kids and celebrating their birthdays with friends and family while growing up--it felt... wrong to go on knowing that you didn’t have the same experience without doing anything when everything fell into place like it did.

Jihoon had been the one to text you, asking if you had finished work for one of the classes the two of you had in common. While he was in the online portion, he had met you through coincidence: he’d gone to the library to find something, and you had gently asked if he could reach a book for you since he’d been standing right where you needed to be. He recognized it as one of the ones he’d been looking for, and the two of you had realized you were in the same class but in different sections. So he brought it up as casually as he could, and asked if he could see your lecture notes too late in the evening. He made up something about how you could just bring a change of clothes and stay with them for the night, that if you didn’t want him to give up his room, that someone else would since (in his words) everyone liked you.

You had batted off the idea a bit, saying that “not everyone there liked you” and he just told you to come over because he had your favorite takeout already ordered and on the way. Bribing you with food always seemed to work, and this had been no exception as you texted him back that he played dirty and that you’d meet him outside with your dumb bag packed.

By the time you’d arrived, everyone had gathered for a cozy night in, already changed into pajamas with blankets slightly strewn around and plushies left lying about. Jihoon guided you up, thanking you a thousand times for coming over on such short notice.

You had merely shrugged. “Of course,” you said, hands gripping the straps of your bag. “I like seeing you guys.”

Something about the way you said it made his heart swell a little. It was nice to have a friend like you. Jihoon just smiled, taking slower steps toward the door with a “Oh, really? I’ll have to tell them that.”

He punched in the code, the door unlocking and a chime ringing out. Jihoon was a step ahead of you, motioning to his friends to keep it relatively down as you filed in behind him. He took his time slipping out of his shoes, watching you round the corner and stepping out of your own while saying something about how you had brought your lecture notes and things you had from class. Not all of them were in Korean, but you were happy to work with him until he understood it.

Then you got hit with a very happy “surprise!” from the rest of his friends, and you jolted a little. Jihoon chuckled as he watched you look at everyone and then back at him, mouth agape as you processed what just happened.

“Oh my god. He told you, didn’t he.”

It hadn’t been a question in the slightest, but you whirled around to look at Jaehyuk after Jihoon nodded. There was no point in lying, honestly, since the only person you had said that to was Jaehyuk. He watched you take a breath, slowly exhale, and then grow a little flustered as realization sank in that all of them were there and ready to spend celebrating your birthday with you.

Jaehyuk had spoken up to apologize when you waved him off. “No, this is sweet--” You had said quickly, stumbling slightly over your words. “Really! I was just... surprised?”

“Go get changed,” Jihoon nudged you forward, pointing out the way to the bathroom. “You can pick sit next to anyone you want.”

He watched you grow more embarrassed, thanking them all again as you made your way to the bathroom. As you changed, the takeout was spread out with your own specific order set mostly aside for you. Plates and chopsticks were handed out, drinks set aside with a cold can of your favorite set to be handed off whenever you decided where you’d like to be. By the time you returned in cozy sweats, things were ready for a night of watching movies.

Unfortunately for some of them, they were big cowards and you enjoyed the occasional horror movie. You settled in next to Hyunsuk, fully aware of what you were committing to with that, with Yoshi on your other side.

“Are you going to be okay with this?” You asked Hyunsuk as the movie started, as if the plushie in his lap wasn’t about to be used to hide his face.

He nodded with a smile. “It’s for your birthday! I’ll be fine,” he said.

“We can skip this one if you want--”

“No, I’ll be fine!” He insisted further.

Thirty minutes into it, he had buried his face in the plushie he’d been clinging to, one arm wrapped around your own. You fought back a laugh, reaching up to nudge him closer to your side while the others teased him for clinging to you so hard. You waved them off, saying something about how half of them had just shrieked moments before. Despite the situation, you could feel Hyunsuk laugh into your shoulder a little at the way you defended him. Just something about your tone was cute and momentarily distracted him from the movie at hand.

Almost ten minutes later, you called it and stopped the movie. “You guys aren’t having fun,” you said. “I know you said you’d deal with it for my birthday, but I want you guys to enjoy this, too.”

No one argued with you over that, mainly because you had given them a look daring them to challenge you. The movie was changed, you settled back into Hyunsuk who silently gave you a thankful look after noticing how relieved some of the others were. He was certain that everyone else there would have put up with it if it made you happy, but this did make it more fun for everyone.

Plus it gave him the chance to dote on you and the others a little more. Yoshi had already made sure the others were getting their fair share of food when he could. Making sure you were getting enough to eat, warding the others away when he noticed they were picking a little too often at your favorite: just the little things he could do in turn for caring enough about them all to turn off one of your favorite movies.

The cake was brought out soon after Mashiho and a few others cleared the table in-between movies. Despite your playful protests, they sang to you and watched you blow out the candle. Haruto had asked what you wished for, leaning forward with his elbows resting on his knees.

“My secret,” you had teased. But you leaned back into the couch, paper plate lowering slightly--and you noticed the way Junkyu had reached out across Hyunsuk, bracing it for you. “I think it already came true.”

Junghwan looked up from his own slice. “Huh?”

“I’m glad,” Jaehyuk said from his spot on the couch behind you.

You reached up to swat at him gently. “It came true because of you. Take credit later.”

The next movie started, and they all noticed the way you seemed to light up. The way you sang along to one of your favorite songs, eyes glimmering as you relived childhood joy. Yedam made a comment about how he’d have to write something for you sometime, smiling when you laughed and claimed you weren’t that good. You’d rather hear his pretty voice anyway. Maybe one day he’d write lyrics and get your thoughts on them, hoping to hear you sing them a little for him.

It was somewhere into the fourth movie that you started to drift off. When prodded, you denied it--insisting that you could stay up if they all could. But Hyunsuk felt the way your head had began to droop against his shoulder, and nudged you awake with a promise that they’d try to do this again sometime with you--even if all of them couldn’t partake next time. If you were tired, then you should sleep. It wasn’t good to neglect yourself too much. You relented as you struggled to stay awake any longer, Jaehyuk happily giving up his room to let you get a comfortable night’s rest. It was cute to watch you hug every single person, thanking them individually for making sure you had a good memory for this year’s birthday--even if the celebration was ahead of the day--and that you were happy to do anything for them all in the future.

There was something tender about cleaning everything up afterward, sleepiness settling in as the excitement of the night wore off. Yet there was comfort in knowing that you were falling asleep happy, a warm feeling in your chest as you hugged a plushie close to your chest. It was nice to feel wanted after so many years of feeling like an obligation. You’d thank them all again for that as best as you could through future support for each and every one. No matter what the future brought, you were confident that you could do that.

hi miss cat sooooo i feel abit queasy rn?? idk so sTORY TIME :D i have this guy friend,,,, let's call him 'beer' (idk what to call him oKAy OHMYGOD) LMAO. his family and my family are pretty close but we only met personally in the beginning of last year since they moved here to my city and they didn't know anybody else in the area except me n my fam so not only did we helped them move in to their new place but we also helped them familiarize the area. and they would constantly go to our house and vice versa. me being anti social and introverted, i never really interacted with them much?? after eating i would just walk straight back to my room and lock myself up there until they're gone OR.... i would wait for them to leave so i could eat JKGFDJSDKS (i have social anxiety n interactions seem draining at times so i just avoid ppl i'm unfamiliar or uncomfy with ;-;). tURns out,,, we were the same age???? JDFKDKV me and 'beer' got close during my sister's bday party. it was just a small n intimate gathering (only like 5 ppl,, including me n my sis) nd he was invited. my sis was so drunk, we had to bring her up to her room and tuck her into bed,,, my sis friend was in the bathroom puking the night away JDFKSSJNK and the others were just either passed out drunk or just didnt wanna drink anymore. but there was so much drinks left and we didnt want to waste it, so me and 'beer' ended up tryna finish the cocktails that was made since it was such a waste to throw them out and since i was under the consumption of alcohol i became more outspoken and confident than i usually am JFVDSJKVDJK we had a couple drinks earlier so while we were abit tipsy and we looked like crazed people talking and giggling n shit,, we became close after that night. and from there, we became each other's designated "drinking buddies". IDK IF THATS AN ACTUAL THING BUT YEA :D LIEK, EVERYTIME WE DRINK LIKE WE'RE JUST ALWAYS TOGETHER, KINDA LIKE A DUO,, DRUNK PARTNERS IN CRIME OR WHATNOT JKDSKFFJV and we would even make bets on who's had more drinks or sumn. and as time went by, i noticed how he got alittle comfortable with me?? he'd try to like make advances or do some gentlemanly stuff (which he doesn't normally do around me??) at first i didn't rlly mind since he prob was tipsy or something. and then during new year’s,, as in when the clock struck 12 am,, he messaged me and confessed that he started harboring a crush on me and that he had feelings for me ;-; IDK WHAT TO REPLY SO I WAS LIKE: "HAHA U'RE PROB SHITFACED DRUNK RN,, GO TO SLEEP :)" and he was like: "nO IM SERIOUS, IHAVE FEELINGS 4 U, AND NO I DIDNT DRINK ANYTHING TODAY" KJFNXCSKJDVF I JUST LEFT HIM ON READ AFTER THAT CUS IDK WHAT TO DO?? HJSDNDFSKF ++ i'm not rlly into these kind of things and i just dont see him that way,,,, i'm the type wherein if i just don't see anything even just a teeny-tiny spark, it's just NO. + commitment scares me :( i just felt so scared n weirded out so after that i just started avoiding him :// there were times where his fam n him would stop by at our place so i literally just lock myself up in my room whenever they're there and wait til they left. but today, they came again and we all ate dinner together. i sat across him and he greeted me saying "hi". i can only offer him the most awkward smile cus i didn't wanna be rude to him infront of everybody. his sister literally squealed HJFDVKSJK and i think she knew what was going on LMAO. after eating, i went to the kitchen and i was just washing the dishes and he suddenly came in, he seemed so nervous i honestly felt bad :( and he was like tryna bring up the 'confession thing' but the tension was just so bad n awkward. and he was like,, "let me just wash the dishes" and i was like "nO, u're a guest just leave the dishes here and i'll wash) and we were just bickering back and fort having a banter of who's washing the dishes, but i just was so fed up i grabbed his plate and i washed it myself FJBKDNVSJF and he was like,, "we good?" im like"yea?? ig" KFDJNSS idk now it just feels weird, he's cool but i just dont rlly like

him that way and although i admire him for being honest with his feelings abt me, i just dont think we can hangout anymore like we used to. so yea im srry if this is so long holy shit im so sorry. i hope life been treating u well bub!! <33

bdudidkdnfjjdjd oh god, lovebug, this all sounds really awkward, and I totally get how you feel 🤧🤧 like when they say “we’re good?” it’s like that when you say that you’re fine but you’re not really fine meme fjjfkdkffkck 😀😀 because the friendship gets so awkward after that, and it sucks because you see him as a really good friend and really liked hanging out with each other but now feelings made everything weird and you’re never gonna be able to go back to how it was before because those feelings will always be on the back of your mind and the friendship is not the same and you eventually drift apart and god, it just really sucks to lose a friend /: it’s basically the eventual slow death of a friendship and it’s just so complicated and I’m sorry you have to go through that, honey bee ): I hope you’re able to work things out with him tho 💗 and thank you, honey bee !!!! Spooktober Day 24: Shadows

so when are we gonna tell em?

Parked on the street in front of Izayoi’s school, Inuyasha whiled away the time on his phone while he waited for his daughter to emerge from the building. He’d gotten out of work early enough that he’d had time to go home and change before driving the short trip to pick her up from school. Usually Kagome drove both of them home since it made more sense; Tai would either walk to her classroom after his lessons or she’d go to him, and usually Izayoi waited outside for her mom to pick her up.

This time he figured he’d save her the trouble since he had the time anyway, and he always loved the look of pleased surprise on his babygirl’s face when she spotted his truck waiting outside for her. A daddy’s girl through and through, Inuyasha wasn’t ashamed to admit that part of the reason he’d wanted to pick her up himself was to selfishly spend time together, just the two of them, even if it was only ten minutes on the way home.

His phone chimed with a new text and Inuyasha tapped the notification to open it up.

Mmm I think it’s best to wait until after Iz’s birthday. Don’t wanna steal her thunder.

She’s turning 13 Inuyasha. That’s sort of a big deal and it wouldn’t be fair.

Chuckling, Inuyasha sent a brief “love you wench” and put his phone away with a sigh before glancing out the window toward the school. It was just before 3 pm, so Iz should be coming out any time now—

Inuyasha froze, sat up straight in his seat, and then leaned forward amber eyes narrowed dangerously. His lip curled and a low growl rumbled in his throat as his hand clenched tightly on the steering wheel, claws digging into the black leather, but he didn’t notice.

Some punk was chatting up his babygirl and standing way too fucking close. Inuyasha was out of the truck and storming toward them before he even realized what he was doing, murder on his face and golden eyes boring a hole through the punk’s head that dared flirt with his daughter. She was too good, too pure for the likes of him, for anybody, and he’d be damn sure to let the little asswipe know that in no uncertain terms.

“...And the skirt is going to be layered brown lace with some white ruffles—ugh, I’m sorry, this would be a lot easier if I had a phone so I can just show you a picture. Sorry I don’t have one yet.”

Izayoi blushed and gave an awkward smile, embarrassed that she lacked something most kids her age already had. Heck, even Rin had a phone. Granted, she was a year older, but she’d gotten it months before she turned thirteen. If it weren’t for her overprotective father and worrywart of a mother, she’d probably have one by now. Or at least she liked to think so.

Ugh, her life sucked.

Raiden smiled. “Nah, it’s cool,” he assured with a one-shouldered shrug, blue-green eyes warm as gave a lazy grin. “Mine was a gift for my fifteenth birthday so I haven’t had it long. Couple months, tops.”

He shrugged and laughed and oh well would ya look at that, her life suddenly sucked a lot less. Who knew a one Raiden Mashimo was the solution to a sucky life?

“That’s awesome!” she gushed, perhaps a bit too excitedly, and Izayoi flushed again before clearing her throat and saying much more calmly, “I’m hoping I’ll get one for my birthday too in a few days. I feel so left out, you know?”

She shrugged helplessly and smiled and gosh darn it he was just so freakin’ good-looking.

Raiden visibly perked up, his head tilting a little to the side as he queried, “Your birthday’s soon?”

Dear god why was she blushing again? “Um, y-yeah. Next week, actually. Monday.”

The dark-haired teenager grinned. “Wicked. And I have an idea now: how about after school, we can go the Halloween store and you can help me pick out my costume to match yours? Then afterward, if-if you want to, that is, we can maybe...I dunno, go somewhere and get some celebratory hot chocolate, or somethin’.”

Raiden offered a shy smile and rubbed the back of his neck. Izayoi wanted to gape because it was the first time she’d ever seen him anything other than his usual confident, easy-going self and she found this shy, sweet side of him made her heart race in her chest as butterflies erupted in her belly.

“Oh,” she breathed, her eyes widening as she realized what that meant. A smile slowly bloomed across her face and she bit down on her lip, fighting against the urge to hop around in excitement like an idiot. A date! He’d asked her out on a date!

“I—I mean,” he continued, wincing a little as pink dusted the bridge of his nose and cheeks. “If you’re doing something with your family or whatever I completely understand, we can do it the next day or—”

“No!” Izayoi hurriedly interjected, waving her hands and shaking her head vigorously. At his startled look, she blushed and elaborated, “Er, I mean no, I don’t have anything planned, and yes I’d love to go with you.”

Visibly relieved, Raiden’s lazy grin reappeared and he nodded. “O-okay. Good. Cool. I mean—” He coughed and tried again. “Sounds like a plan. So should I wait for you or—uh...”

Raiden’s eyes suddenly went very wide as his gaze shifted behind her and Izayoi frowned.

“Raiden? Are you ok—”

The deep, dangerous growl that reverberated from behind her was very familiar and the sound, filled with lethal warning, had the bottom dropping out of her stomach and her heart jumping up into her throat. She stiffened and sucked in a sharp breath, ears pinning into her silver hair as horror seized her every thought.

No, she thought, even as she watched Raiden take a tentative step backward, noting how he kept shooting her nervous glances. Belatedly Izayoi noticed the shadow that had fallen over her and never before had she wanted so much to crawl under a rock and die. No, no, no, no nononononooooo...

Despite his obvious trepidation, however, Raiden – bless his heart – swallowed his nervousness and offered a wavering smile.

“A-ah, um, M-Mister Taisho,” the younger dog demon began, recovering from the initial shock of the imposing and slightly frightening figure the half-demon made. He cleared his throat and though still clearly nervous, he dipped into a shallow bow of respect.

Izayoi wanted to give him a big kiss for standing his ground and not running away. She knew from personal experience how intimidating her stupid dad could be sometimes and she knew he was purposely laying it on thick right now in an attempt to scare Raiden away. She knew she liked him for a reason and she may have just fallen a little harder for him right then.

“It’s…nice to meet you, sir,” Raiden said a little haltingly, however not once did he look away from the half-demon’s intimidating glare. “Uh, my name is Raiden Mashimo. I…go to school with Izayoi.”

When Inuyasha did nothing but continue to glower fiercely at him, arms crossed with a light scowl on his face, Raiden faltered slightly and glanced at Izayoi. She could do nothing but offer a trembling, apologetic smile, face burning in embarrassment while her eyes begged him to forgive her. If Raiden never talked to her again after this, she was never going to forgive her stupid overbearing father.

Raiden returned he smile, though it came across as more of a grimace, and swallowed thickly before focusing his attention back on her silent father. Inuyasha’s jaw tightened but he said nothing.

“We were just, uh, talking about our costumes. For the party. At…your house?”

Inwardly Raiden winced and wanted to kick himself. Oh yeah. Real smooth, idiot.

That finally received a response and the half-demon narrowed his eyes before growling, “Costumes?”

Encouraged, Raiden seemed to breathe a little easier as he nodded eagerly. “Yeah! I mean even though she lives there, we decided we’re gonna go together and, y’know, match up our cost—”

“I don’t think so,” Inuyasha cut him off, his tone cold and his stare hard.

Raiden balked and blinked in surprise. “What—”

“He means okay,” Izayoi hastily interjected in a voice unusually high pitched, her eyes wide and imploring as the stared at the boy in front of her. “Don’t worry, he’s just—”

“I mean,” Inuyasha snapped, shooting his daughter a sharp look to quell any further interruptions while simultaneously demanding her obedience, “that you’re not going anywhere with my daughter and you sure as hell ain’t gonna ‘match costumes.’ I can’t stop you from coming obviously, but I catch you anywhere near her and I will personally escort you off my property.”

Izayoi whimpered and smashed a hand over her mouth as her eyes brimmed with tears.

Raiden gaped incredulously as the half-demon finished with, “We clear, whelp?”

Dropping his gaze to the girl before him, Raiden stared into amber eyes glistening with unshed tears and easily read the desperate plea for him to forgive her for her father’s unfair behavior. She removed her hand and mouthed “I’m so sorry” over and over, shaking her head, and he sucked in a sharp breath.

Nodding once to her, hoping that she understood that he did not blame her at all, Raiden steeled himself and focused his attention back on her father, carefully schooling his expression.

“Understood, sir,” he murmured, gave another short bow, then meeting Izayoi’s teary gaze with an apologetic wince, Raiden turned and walked away, hands in his pockets and posture stiff as a board.

Inuyasha snorted as he watched the kid go, more or less satisfied with how that exchanged had gone. Granted, he’d looked more confused than truly intimidated as that had been what he’d been aiming for, but whatever. Didn’t matter as long as he got the message that his precious babygirl was off limits.

“Least this one seems to have more brains than the wolf’s brat,” he commented before dismissing the boy and heading for the truck. “Let’s go, Iz, it’s cold out and you forgot your jacket again.”

When he didn’t hear light footfalls following after him, Inuyasha paused and looked over his shoulder with a frown. Izayoi hadn’t moved, still standing there staring in the direction that little punk had wandered off to. It appeared she hadn’t even heard him ears completely immobile and face blank.

His frown deepened. “Izayoi,” he called. “Let’s go. Your mom’s probably wondering where we are by now and I’ll have ten missed calls and thirty-seven texts on my phone.”

Once more he went ignored and Inuyasha sighed impatiently. She couldn’t be that hung up on some kid, could she? He opened his mouth to demand she get her butt in gear, unafraid to stalk over and carry her if he had to, but then the salty scent of tears drifted over to him on the breeze and Inuyasha faltered. What the—was she...was she crying? What the hell—

“Iz?” he asked, turning around and crossing the distance between them. “What’s wro—”

“How could you?” Izayoi suddenly hissed and the amount of venom in her voice had Inuyasha stopping in his tracks.

Inuyasha studied her silently for a moment, trying to figure out why she was so upset, but when nothing came to him he shook his head and asked carefully, “How could I wh—”

“How could you?!” his daughter shrieked this time, whirling around to pin him with a fierce, baleful glare it momentarily took Inuyasha aback. Tears were running unchecked down her face, her hands were clenched into tight fists, and her ears were flattened against her head.

Recovering quickly and unwilling to let his child get away with such a show of temper, especially to him, Inuyasha pinned her with a glare of his own and bared his fangs as a warning growl echoed in his throat.

“Watch your tone, pup—”

“No,” Izayoi snapped, glowering at him even more fiercely as the tears continued to spill down her cheeks. “I can’t believe you just—I can’t even—ugh!”

With a wordless cry of fury, the young hanyou growled her aggravation before abruptly spinning on her heel and storming away, back stiff with anger and teeth clenched so tight her jaw ached. She tried to ignore the hallow ache in her chest, tried to swallow the sob of despair that welled up in her throat and fought to escape past her lips as her stomach clenched painfully. She felt cold all over and was vaguely aware that she was shaking, but none of that mattered.

Her mental anguish far outweighed anything that she might have been feeling on the physical plane because Izayoi was positive now that Raiden would never talk to her again and it was all her stupid dad’s fault.

“Hey!” Inuyasha called after her, but she ignored him. “Where the fuck do you think you’re going? Get in the truck, Izayoi. I’m taking you home and we can discuss this—”

“I’m walking,” Izayoi spat back at him without stopping or even looking at him. Like hell she was going to voluntarily be in the same space as him right now. She was too angry, too hurt; she couldn’t even look at him without wanting to break down and weep. Just thinking about it had another sob catching in her throat but she bit it back, pressing her lips together as her eyes burned with more tears.

“The hell you are,” her father snapped and stomped after her. “Quit the attitude and get in the truck, Izayoi. Now.”

Izayoi ignored him and kept walking, a little faster this time.

Cursing a blue streak, Inuyasha stopped, crossed his arms, and barked, “Truck now or you’re grounded.”

His daughter stopped. Straightened her shoulders. Then whirled around to pin him with a withering glare so intense, if looks could kill he’d be six feet under by now.

Unmoved, Inuyasha stared back evenly, not giving an inch, however the slight narrowing of his eyes, a not so subtle warning, suggested she would do well to heed his demand and promptly.

Izayoi glared murderously at him for another minute, no doubt pissed off that he’d used such an unfair threat, then finally did ass he was told and stalked toward the vehicle still sitting on the street.

Inuyasha waited until she was inside with the door shut, not putting it passed her to bolt at the last second, before following suit, jogging the rest of the way just in case she decided to get smart and lock him out. Thankfully she did and when he slid behind the wheel she refused to look at him, arms folded tightly across her chests as she glowered out the window.

She was still shaking and Inuyasha turned up the heat before pulling away and making a U-turn to head home.

“You gonna tell me what the hell all that was or you gonna keep being pissy?” he asked her, flicking a glance at his silent daughter through the review before looking straight again.

Izayoi tightened her jaw but otherwise did not respond, remaining in stony silence.

Inuyasha sighed and hung a right. He hated fighting with her, but sometimes it was the only way to solve the problem at hand. How fortuitous to be blessed with a daughter with a temper that matched his own?

And by fortuitous be meant annoying as fuck.

“I don’t know what the hell you’re so mad about,” Inuyasha growled as he turned onto their street a few minutes later, “but this attitude needs to stop, right now, because if you think I’m gonna let you talk to your mother like you did with me, you got another think comin’, kiddo.”

Izayoi scoffed loudly and grabbed her backpack, getting ready to open the door and bolt the instant they pulled into the driveway. Another wave of tears pricked the back of her eyes and she bit down hard to stifle the whimper that threatened to escape. Her chest ached, her throat tightened, and she squeezed her eyes shut tight.

Glancing at her in the review, Inuyasha frowned but didn’t say anything more since they were just about home anyway. Predictably Kagome’s SUV was already parked in front of the garage and he pulled in next to it, hoping that the brief car ride had cooled her temper somewhat like it had his.

He hadn’t even put the truck in park before Izayoi opened the door and darted out so fast she didn’t even bother to close the door behind her. Inuyasha cursed and hurriedly shifted into park before cutting the engine and hastily following after her, not wanting to spare the extra second to close her door but he did.

Kagome was in the kitchen fixing up an after school snack for her daughter while Tai watched cartoons in the other room when the side door suddenly slammed open and the hanyou in question came tearing through it.

“Iz—” she tried but her daughter didn’t even spare her a glance and Kagome heard what sounded like a muffled sob as Izayoi tore past her and ran toward the stairs, not even bothering to take them one at a time and instead using her hanyou strength to launch herself to the top in two leaps. Seconds later another slam reverberated throughput the house as she closed herself in her room.

“Izayoi!” her husband barked a second later right before he came crashing through the door and Kagome blinked.

“Oh, dear,” she whispered and putting down the peanut butter covered butter knife, Kagome hurriedly moved to intercept the obviously ticked off hanyou intent on following their daughter.

“Dammit—” Inuyasha hissed, scowling as he stormed after his rebellious offspring, but small hands were suddenly pressed against his chest, stopping his warpath, and he turned his glower on his wife.

“Outta the way, Kagome, I need to—”

“No,” Kagome said firmly, her tone brooking no room for argument. “Not like this, you aren’t. I have no idea what happened, but you need to sit down and cool your temper before you go talking to her because you’ll just end up making it worse.”

He snapped his jaw shut and glared at her, offended.

She shrugged because it was true; she knew first hand how her daughter and husband’s arguments could be like because she was often in the middle of them.

“Go sit, drink some cider,” Kagome told him, firmly but gently as she reached up to fondly tweak his ear. “Let me talk to her first, okay? Sometime tells me you’re the last person she wants to see right now, anyway.”

And it was if those words took the wind right out of his sails because Inuyasha deflated, ears lowering as he closed his eyes, shoulders slumping. Dammit, she was right, as usual; his daughter could be just as headstrong as him, and if he went to her now, they’d just end up in another shouting match, getting nowhere fast.

Kagome’s hand on his cheek prompted him to open his eyes to find her smiling gently at him, her caramel colored eyes warm with understanding and his throat tightened as a whine threatened to escape.

“Let me talk to her,” she repeated and leaned up to kiss his jaw. “It’ll be fine, love. Just give it some time. I’ll be back soon.”

With that she patted his cheek and headed for the stairs to get the story from their clearly distraught daughter.

Inuyasha took a steadying breath, pinched his nose, and wandered into the living room to see to their five-year-old. He could hear little sounds of distress coming from him, no doubt wondering what was just happened, and he couldn’t bear to have both of his children upset.

At least this one didn’t want to tear his face off, Inuyasha sourly mused as he hefted Tai into his arms where he immediately burrowed into him and then sank down onto the couch to wait.

He hated waiting.

Mercifully it wasn’t long at all before he heard the sound of a door being closed and light footsteps coming down the stairs a few seconds later. Reclined on the couch with Tai napping against him, Inuyasha’s ears perked up and he turned his head as Kagome entered the living room. Her small smile was encouraging, but he didn’t let his hopes get too high; it was entirely possible Izayoi still didn’t want to talk to him. He didn’t know if it was because she was female, nearly a teenager, or just because she had his blood in her veins, but when his daughter held a grudge, she held a grudge.

Kagome settled beside him and smiled down at their napping son, smoothing back his hair. She was silent as she gathered her thoughts, trying to find a way to explain as best as she can without upsetting him again because she knew he wasn’t gong to like what she had to say.

“Well, she told me what happened,” she remarked with a sigh. “And I know you’re not going to like this, but you shouldn’t have done that.”

Her husband set his jaw and looked away, glaring at the TV that at the moment had brightly colored cartoon characters on it.

Kagome shook her head, unsurprised at his reaction. “She really likes this boy, Inuyasha. And you embarrassed her by putting on your ‘I’m-so-intimidating’ act and pretty much forbidding her from going near him and vice versa. And threatening to escort him off the property if he gest too close? Inuyasha...”

Said hanyou scowled and refused to comment.

Kagome dropped her gaze to Tai’s sleeping face and tenderly smoothed back his bangs, remembering when her little girl was this small and she was still able to pick her up. She couldn’t believe she was going to be a teenager in just a few short days. How time flies...

“She’s too good for him,” Inuyasha suddenly grumbled, a slight pout of his face. “She’s...she’s innocent, too young to be thinking about boys.”

Kagome smiled. Now she understood.

“Inuyasha,” she began softly, moving her hand to cradle her husband’s jaw and adding gentle pressure to get him to meet her eyes. “Whether you like it or not, she’s going to be thirteen in just a few short days. She’s going to start being more independent, more outspoken and rebellious, and yes, she’s going to start dating, too.”

Inuyasha flinched and looked about ready to argue, but Kagome spoke up before he could get a word in edgewise.

“I know it’s a little hard to accept, but she’s not going to be your little girl forever, Inuyasha.”  

He sucked in a breath and closed his eyes with a wince, the words painful to hear however true they were.

Kagome smiled sadly and continued, “You can’t be her constant shadow, protecting her from everything and essentially stunting her growth. She needs room to grow, to make a few mistakes and learn from them, to become a lovely young woman with a good head on her shoulders. She’s not stupid, Inuyasha, you and I both know that. She’s fully capable of taking care of herself, or do I need to remind you of Daisuke?”

Inuyasha blinked and then a slow grin curved his mouth upward, recalling how she’d broken the brat’s nose for being too forward. Heh. She could take care of herself, couldn’t she?

Kagome suddenly sighed and stood up, leaning down to take Tai from his arms and cradle him against her shoulder; he remained fast asleep.

“I don’t think she’s ready to talk yet,” she said, casting a glance at the ceiling. “Let her come to you, alright? I know you want to fix this, but you won’t get anywhere if only one of you are willing to mend the bridge.”

Sighing in defeat, Inuyasha nodded and thrust a hand through his hair. She was right. Again, goddammit.

Slim fingers caught his ear and rubbed the soft flesh soothingly. Inuyasha closed his eyes and leaned into her touch.

“It’ll be okay,” she whispered before warm lips pressed against his cheek. “Just give it time.”

With one last warm smile, Kagome left, probably to take Tai up to his room to have the rest of his nap in peace.

Inuyasha watched her go and withheld a whine.

Fuck, he really hated waiting.

It was just after 9 pm when Inuyasha padded down the carpeted hallway to her room, steaming cup of hot cocoa in his hand and hopeful mindset. Izayoi had only come out of her room to eat dinner and shower before retreating from whence she came. Though she still wouldn’t look at him – or even acknowledge him, really – his daughter was no longing glaring death at him so he would call that an improvement.

Maybe it still wasn’t the right time, but he couldn’t wait anymore. He’d done nothing but think about what happened and now he wanted to reconcile with his little girl. He wanted to feel one of her hugs, wanted her to smile at him again, and he desperately wanted to hear her say “I love you, daddy.”

Even if his efforts were wasted, he at least wanted to try.

Stopping before her door, Inuyasha took a breath and knocked.

“Iz?” he called out softly, confident she could hear him through the heavy wood. “Can we, uh, talk?”

Nothing.

Ears lowering, he tried again. “I brought you some hot cocoa. The way you like it, with the marshmallows and whipped cream.”

More silence. Not even a rustle of clothing, though he did hear the gentle whistling of the wind outside.

He closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against the door. “Please, babygirl. I just wanna talk. Can you let me in?”

Still nothing, and Inuyasha frowned. “Iz?”

Taking a chance, he turned the knob and cracked open the door enough to peer inside. He wasn’t expecting it to be dark inside his daughter’s room and instantly concerned, he opened the door the rest of the way. When he didn’t see her right away the beginnings of panic started to set in and he whipped his head around, amber eyes searching the shadows of the room for his daughter, and he was just about ready to bellow her name when a he felt crisp wind on his face and something fluttering in his peripheral.

Inuyasha snapped his head toward the window—and relaxed, the breath whooshing but of his lungs as realization dawned.

Heaving a sigh as his ears drooped low – it looked like he wouldn’t be getting that talk tonight – Inuyasha ambled over to the open window where the curtains were gently swaying in the breeze and set the mug of hot cocoa down on the nightstand beside the window.

Hidden within the shadows of the large oak tree in their backyard, Inuyasha caught a flash of silver and gold as Izayoi pretended she hadn’t noticed him at her window and the older half-demon tried very hard to ignore the ache in his chest as he left his daughter’s bedroom without a word.

BUT getting this thing inserted was supposed to stop and/or reduce my pain and bleeding during ovulation and each period cycle. I got this on the 3rd December. It’s been over a month now. I’ve gotten acne from this also. I’m just sick of waiting for it to ‘settle in’, things just seem to be getting worse if anything. Life continues to be fairly interesting haha. I had a pretty decent weekend overall. I believe on Friday, I went to the fair with my friend Brent, Elizabeth, Kristy, and Jessica. The fair in SB was honestly not bad! I had fun going on rides with my friends, eating fair food, and just walking/chatting. Later that night, we had game night at my friend’s Brents place. Julian put on the project some really fun party game that everyone could just connect and play using the phone! Was really fun and I plan on buying it, so when ppl come to my place, we have idk fun games to play instead of just watching youtube on my chromecast LOL. I think Bryan, Olivia, Elizabeth, Brent, Julian, Kristy, Jessica, and me all played and had a great night. On Saturday, it was a bit more simple. I had a really busy day on Saturday, since I had to get some studying done for my midterm on Monday for minority literature class. I knew my cousin was visiting UCSB this weekend, since she said she was. But I’m surprised she didn’t hit me up to show her around. It would have been actually inconvenient if she did :( since ideally I would have the whole day to show her a ton of stuff. But I had a music appreciation concert at 7 PM that I had to go to at night, and I had to study quite a bit. Surprisingly, she did not hit me up at all, and only ended up snapping me that she was at SB later that night haha. She was in one of the freshmen dorms, so I’m guessing she already had a friend that let her stay in her dorm and showed her around :O. I was a bit worried that if I didn’t show her all the cool stuff about SB, my cousin wouldn’t be too interested in attending and choose UC Merced in the end... ;-;!! Anyways, ended up going to concert that night, was super boring, left during intermission since didn’t have to stay till end just needed to stay long enough to write a paper on it. Then I went to library and studied with Kristy and Jessica until like 1 AM. Went home, knocked out, and idk. Sunday, I think I got lunch with Brent and Elizabeth, then I somehow procrastinated the day away, but pulled a strong all nighter to finish studying for my minority lit class lol. The midterm went okie not bad, and then I studied for my music appreciation class quiz that was at 12 PM today. Think I did pretty good on that, and passed out for a while. Got dinner with Brent, and talked to him. We talked about how it’s already week 5 of our last quarter of our 3rd year... Graduation is coming up and much scary ;-;... I asked him what he’s gonna do after grad, and he immediately answered about Elizabeth. Since Elizabeth lives in Washington, but attends UCSB, and I wonder what she’ll do after graduation. Like would she move to California or find work back in Washington, who knows :O Brent said he doesn’t know what she’ll do, but he does suggest that she’ll prob move to LA, since LA is way cooler than Washington haha. Anyways, I did ask him oh man what if we all drift apart after graduation. Since Bryan lives in Thousand Oaks and is kinda far, Rickie lives in Washington, and etc. Brent said it kinda sucks, but it’ll happen. He did say that we’ll still hang out, since he can always drive down to OC and it’s only like 45 mins. I also said that I could always go up to LA and hang too. Thankfully Kristy and Jessica will be nearby, and Henry lives near Brent. So it’s not like we’ll all drift apart. Just kinda will be diff not being able to hang out with the friends I hang out every week with anymore, but I guess that’s life yo. I’ve gone through it from going from HS to College, and I’m sure the friendships will stay strong. It’ll be those friendships where even tho you don’t see each other every day or maybe even text that often, when you do hangout it’s like no time has passed :) Idk life yo.

Onto another topic, my cousin revealed to me that she actually SIRed to UCSB today!!! Woo, I told her we needed to have a celebration dinner or something together. She told me that she needed a bunch of life advice haha for college. I remember being in the same position worrying the same things like if I’ll make friends, what classes to take, and etc. She was super thankful and kept telling me how much she loved me, when I offered her advice LOL. I just want her to be successful and learn from my mistakes and become a doctor for me, incase I don’t make it LOL! So maybe this weekend if time permits, I’ll meet up with her and talk :D But I’m glad she idk got convinced, will prob have to ask her how did she get convinced lolol. I have a 66.6666% success rate now 2/3!! For the rest of my week, it’ll pretty much just be a bunch of studying for my midterm on Friday. Afterwards, I’ll be going home for the weekend for my mom’s bday and possibly to shoot with Sabrina and Cindy!! Woo :D haven’t seen/shot with either of them in a long time~ They both hit me up to shoot, so I feel special ;-; and wanted! 

Overall, life is going okie can’t complain. Tried to eat slightly more now and work out too, so I build some more muscle. Uhm, I’ve kinda been in a pretty content mood nowadays. Like I’m back to a phase where I’m happy with what I have, not too stressed, have some stuff to look forward to to keep me going, and yeah. 

The idea of relationships and love is something that I contemplate about a lot. I obviously always liked the idea of a SO, and I think that actually this year/4th year would probably be the last best times for a while to date a girl. Since I’ll still be in school and don’t look poorly in the dating scene, if I don’t have a job or idk. I’ll still be supported by my parents, but old enough to do cool things/go on adventures like going to Vegas this summer. I have a nice place and live alone, since I still attend school in SB, and not crazy busy, but have enough free time to spend with a SO. But the problem is, I haven’t really met anyone that really caught my interest... I mean kinda Amandi for a bit, but after finding out about what type of person she is, obv not gonna interact with her too much lmao. Maybe this sounds cocky or whatever, but I COULD date Chloe, if I truly wanted to. I mean Chloe is a decent looking girl, she’s fairly nice, and I could see myself in an okay relationship with her. But the problem is, I like her mostly as a friend, and just not that into her... Like I’m not that physically attracted to her, not that she’s bad looking or anything, and I’m not that idk mentally attracted to her. We just don’t have that much in common, and she prob only likes me for my looks?? Who knows. The thing is, I suppose a lot of ppl my age are kinda dating for fun or maybe some are serious. So it’s not like I have to date someone with the intention of long term commitment, I could just date and have fun with her for a while. Who knows, she might be wanting just the same thing. But the problem is, idk it’s just not me tho. Like let’s say we do date and have fun together spending time together, but what if I meet some cooler girl that I’m more attracted to while I’m dating her. Like I suppose the right answer is to idk keep it professional and stay with Chloe or the other option is to dump Chloe and date the new girl. But idk then I could be potentially hurting her if I did that and I wouldn’t want that. I’d be kinda leading her on, and it’s something I don’t want to do to ppl. Like idk I feel like if I date someone that I’m not totally into, it’s a disservice to them and myself, since they deserve better tbh. I think everyone deserves someone who truly cares about them and wants them, isn’t settling, or etc etc etc. So I don’t wanna date someone if I’m not completely into them, since they deserve someone who truly do and someone who thinks they’re amazing. I would want the same for myself. So I guess that’s a small dilemma that I have. I like the idea of dating someone, now’s probably one of the best possible times to do so, and I could. But I like being serious about someone, I don’t wanna hurt anyone by dating them if I’m not really into them, and I obv want to date someone that I am really into and would be proud of showing them off. So yeah, small dilemma, I guess the right choice is to not lead Chloe on too much, and prob not pursue anything with her. I suppose all I can and should be doing is continue to be chill and content/happy hanging out with my cool friends, keep myself busy with school/hobbies, and eventually I’ll meet someone who I’m truly into and they’ll hopefully be into me too? :O
