She likes her for her. Pearl's not just thorns #Gem doesnt really care about the “thorns” or the petalless rose stem. she cares about Pearl. She thinks Pearl's cool (thumbs up emoji)#Pearl changes into her scarlet fit like she has many times before with the purpose of scaring people & leaning into her feared witch thing #but Gem's just like “omg slayyy” and its the best. And to Pearl it's like whoag #Gem never saw how she changed. Never saw her be ostracized and the aftermath #But she thought that the Pearl she did see in SL was cool and so easily accepted her when Pearl herself though herself so unacceptable #she got love from the Mounders and BigB and that warms my heart but Gem being a newcomer immediately embracing Pearl is just #it hits different #whoa jimbo way too many tags hghghgh #mcytyuriweekvalentines #at first I thought about smth like “where the others saw thorns you saw a rose” but I thought it was more fitting this way #I guess you guys be the judge of that haha idk what Im saying #tubby art

#idk im just curious because i oftne see posts that are like ''this song/artist can NOT go on this characters playlist #they would never listen to that''#and it confuses me a little because i thought character playlists were just songs that you like that you associate with the character #not necessarily stuff you think they would listen to. like with character playlists i just pick stuff with lyrics that describe them #regardless of whether they would actually like that song or not #when it comes to songs associated with ocs specifically though i tend to go for a mix of all 3 of these #but again. mostly vibes and story #Also what i mean by vibes is like maybe the style of music sounds like something that would be associated with them #but the lyrics dont really fit them all that much. does that make sense #i probably could have worded it better but oh well. cant edit polls

something something guy who is so so unhealthily dependent on these very specific formalized roles & narratives they've been cast into to maintain an ultimately broken relationship & can't handle it when the people around him increasingly start going off script

I think one of the worst moments in buffy history is them framing xander's speech about riley in into the woods as like... correct in any way. it makes you really dislike Xander (even more). Buffy's boyfriend literally cheats on her with vampire prostitutes lol and then tells her that if she doesn't forgive him on the spot he's leaving forever. and then we're supposed to buy that Xander is correct in saying that it's all Buffy's fault and that she should run after Riley to beg him to stay?

It's sooo infuriating how Riley is framed as 'the one who got away' when really he's 'the one who was so cripplingly insecure that he couldn't handle his girlfriend being stronger than him and having her own problems because he's made his entire identity about his girlfriend instead of getting the fuck over himself'

the real reason why xander doesn't want buffy to dump riley's ass as she should is so clearly because he projects onto riley. subconsciously he thinks that if someone 'normal' like riley can be with buffy then he also has a shot. newsflash it wasn't riley being 'normal' it was riley being an insecure condescending freak just like u

#and i actually like xander. s7 xander starts to be better. comics xander is near flawless #xander harris shut up forever about buffy's love life at least until youve gone to therapy challenge #i do think buffy could be with someone normal but they would have to be extremely secure well adjusted and also just a chill person #which neither riley nor xander fits.#i dont think there's any buffyverse human male who fits this though tbf #btvs #btvs thoughts
