Is dottore keeping aether in his pockets ?

I feel that his mood would be chiper having his adorable tiny child around and everyone around him including the other fatui would be on edge cause of it.

Dottore definitely does keep Aether with him at most times because he gets a bit paranoid considering all of Aether's nearly successful escape attempts.

(Rambling under the cut)

I would say he's a bit more secretive as well, not wanting other Fatui members to know about Aether once he gets attached (including most of his subordinates). If word gets out that he has the traveler in his lab, the chances that Dottore will be able to just keep him there indefinitely are…low. Since many know the traveler by name and word-of-mouth, rather than appearance, Dottore gives Aether an outfit change and tells him to respond to a different name. Aether refuses to go along with said plan, volunteering the information more often than not in hopes that word of where he is will get out.

Subordinates who are closer to the doctor will see Aether from time to time, mostly during escape attempts or when Aether gets fed up and goes free-range. They have been instructed to not harm him, so they don't really know what to do whenever they see him. No one really wants to risk angering the doctor by disobeying orders, but with Aether’s refusal to stay still, it can be difficult to apprehend him without potentially causing some harm. Overall, the vibe is very tense. Typically, this results in Dottore getting called in to handle it, which he will complain excessively about. The aftermath of events such as this is Dottore putting Aether in a spare bottle that he keeps in his coat. Aether will do anything to avoid this, which usually just means that he tires himself out before he gets caught.

The sound-proof bottle is also implemented during Fatui meetings. As much as Dottore doesn't want any permanent harm to befall Aether at the hands of any other harbingers, he also doesn't want specifically Childe finding out anything about it. Dottore knows he would be less than thrilled about losing his favorite sparring partner, therefore being more inclined to help. The doctor doesn't like bringing Aether to meetings with other harbingers, but ultimately weighed it against leaving Aether to his own devices for hours on end.

Dottore will try to scare Aether into compliance if he believes he's getting too out of control. I haven't decided if Dottore trusts Pantalone enough in this universe to plan out a scare with him. Something along the lines of foisting him onto another harbinger, so Dottore can show up to “save” him and give an ‘it could be so much worse’ type of speech.

Aether will also occasionally sneak out just to break things around the lab out of spite. This provokes the same response in any lab workers where they do their best to stop any serious damage without fully handling Aether. This results in a lot of the lab workers having very mixed feelings about Aether. He slows production and ruins perfectly good work, but it's also such a weird scenario overall, so it can be hard to get too mad at him without feeling absurd. It does certainly break up the monotony of a work day.

Dottore ultimately does like a good chase, so he will let Aether get farther along with any shenanigans before showing up to dash his hopes.

Ok i finished the first page of that disney thing and I'm gonna post it here bc i want feedback (also it's literally fanart of this fanfic, i did not come up with this dialogue lmao)

first off i know this is formatted terribly lol, i have always drawn my self indulgent comics like this bc i normally draw on paper and it saves space, and since I'm not posting them, I'm never worried about readability, so i do apologise for how tiny the top row is (that's why i replaced my handwriting with text)

what i want to know is, are the pictures too small? is it annoying having to zoom in to read each panel? I'll change how i format the rest of the pages so they're easier to read and understand, but should i retroactively change this first page, too? Or is this format completely fine, and im overthinking things as per usual? any other feedback is welcome, too ;^^

You guys don't understand how abnormal this new breed is going to make me. Like even putting aside that they're fat little grubs, which means everything to me for biased reasons (I am an entomologist), this fits my headcanons for Arcane v. Light dynamics so. So hard. I'd always interpreted Arcane and Light as not particularly getting along because their search for knowledge takes them in opposite directions, with Light looking to the past/history and Arcane looking to the future/beyond.

And now. Now the ancients for both reflect that. Arcane's ancient is Aethers, moths that were sent into space to search the cosmos. And now Light's ancients are Everlux, caterpillars still cocooned in old books.

I'm sooo. Normal. I'm so unbelievably normal. I need to make an Aether + Everlux duo that hate each other sooo bad.

I really like the idea of Giant!Aether and normal Lumine, I think it could really effect their dynamic

Maybe before Lumine has the chance to escape through a portal or smth, Aether snatches her up because he wants to talk, but Lumine has more sympathy for him because he's going through being a giant in this new world all alone, contrary to her going through teyvat normal-sized

The chances of me continuing that specific story are, unfortunately, pretty low. I just haven't had the motivation for it, so I don't want to get any hopes up. For now, it'll just be staying as a one-shot. I will post the unfinished snippet of a second chapter that I wrote back when I was still writing that fic below for anyone who wants it, though:

"I hate you"

"mhm", Dottore responded noncommittally, not looking up from his report.

"I mean I really hate you…like a lot"

"Is that so?", the doctor continued to not pay attention.

Aether was currently sitting within an ornate birdcage. Dottore had placed a pillow in the bottom of the fixture while muttering something about "child-proofing", which only managed to anger Aether further. It was almost worse that the doctor was ignoring him now. The man had taunted and practically kidnapped him, tossed him in a cage, and now couldn't even be bothered to pay attention. 'He's too busy writing whatever to even notice–huh. He seems very…preoccupied'. Aether reached out towards the lock of the cage, immediately Dottore stopped writing and looked directly at Aether. Or at least, what Aether could assume was looking at him as he still had that stupid mask on. He slowly pulled his arm back away and raised his hands up in mock defeat. The doctor continued writing as before.

'This sucks'

Aether wouldn't have imagined that being held captive would be this mundane. His throat was already sore from all the yelling he had done when first caged. He was tired. Aether was so tired, it had been such a distressing day, the office was warmer than the lab, the scratching of pen on paper provided some nice white noise, and the pillow felt pretty soft. Aether jolted back up after recognizing what was going on. 'I can't fall asleep here! I already cried in front of the guy, I can't go around passing out too. I'll just have to wait until he leaves.' Internally, Aether knew that there wasn't much he could really do to stop Dottore if he tried something now, but at least he'd be able to see it coming. 'He might be trying to lull me to sleep right now with all the low lighting. What if he's just waiting for me to fall asleep?' Aether's racing thoughts began to slow, 'I'll just pretend to fall asleep to lure him out…yeah…just lay down for..a..second'

Dottore looked over at the slumbering traveler. He knew he'd tire himself out eventually. The boy had been yelling and glaring ever since he was brought here, but now that he was silent, he looked so much…smaller. The doctor monitored Aether's breathing for a moment to ensure he was really sleeping. He then unlocked the cage door and reached inside, carefully scooping the boy into his hands. Aether hardly stirred. 'He must be really knocked out, an idiotic decision when in the proximity of a known enemy'.

Holding Aether felt like holding a baby bird. He felt so little, so easy to break. Dottore wasn't going to let this opportunity be wasted. He wasn't planning on hurting the kid, just running a few tests. He opened a drawer from his desk to retrieve a device to check the boy's vitals.
