Sweet potato eating update!

Beautiful leaves!

From what i could find it's suggested to blanch them before eating to reduce bitterness of the plant so I did.

Blanching for those who don't know what Blanching is~ blanching is just scalding vegetables in boiling water or steam for a short time. Typically followed by quick, thorough cooling in very cold or ice water.

Usually you can tell an items blanched (such as green beans) as they'll usually turn a vibrant soft color within a few seconds.

Blanching the stems

Blanched the leaves and small stems.

I forgot to take a pic of the end product, but I took them and fried them up with a little butter, black pepper, chopped garlic and onion powder (too lazy to chop an onion) and went to town!

The main stems were woody so I didnt like those very much, but the small stems and leaves were excellent. They did taste very similar to spinich! I think next time I'll pick, defoilage and toss the main stems to the girls and keep the leaves & tender peices for us.

Taste? Similar to spinich, not as bitter as expected from reviews (but I like spinich and kale)

Would I continue growing them? Yes

Why? It's hard to get spinich to grow in my climate/area. Even if they don't produce tubers, I'd be happy to supplement with the leaves/stems instead and can likely accommodate quite well in pots or deep raised beds with trellis for upright growing. Especially as they were among the few things to survive the regular 100+*f days we've been having.

Happy one year anniversary ISAT! To celebrate I wanted to share the lil strips I made for my friends when they reached the end of the game! They're all meant to be snippets of life post game and a glimpse into the world I'm making for Loop.

plus a bonus comic cuz a friend suggested that he has a quick and easy way to salvage his clothes since hes constantly getting in situations that could ruin his drip:

on a completely separate note; shizun luo binghe with a disciple shen yuan who fell into the abyss??? *thinks about LBH canonically stealing SQQ's corpse for 5 years* he'd hallucinate i think. like, like visual and audial hallucinations.

Keeps thinking he's seeing SQQ in the corner of his eyes, or wandering between the trees, amongst a group of disciples. Thinks he hears him calling for him, but its just the wind or another disciple.

Gets Xiu Ya reforged but patently fucking refuses to make a sword mound. Because his disciple Is Not Dead :))) There was No Body. He's Not Dead. And If You keep Insisting That He Is, He's Gonna Skewer You :). He's holding onto Xiu Ya so he can return his most favored disciple's sword when he returns. It's on his hip right next to Zheng Yang where it's supposed to be.

Also this motherfucker?? does not sleep btw. He has the image of SQQ, wide eyed and hysterical and standing at the mouth of the abyss burned into his fucking eyelids. Can't use the dreamscape to escape it either because he keeps trying to save him and either he does and it's an incredibly cruel trick to wake up to, or he doesn't and he gets his heart broken in several different pieces again.

There is no convincing this man that Shen Qingqiu is dead. Absolutely nothing at all. He is buried so deep in denial that moles would be jealous of how deep he is. He keeps making tea for two in the bamboo house only to remember that it's just him. SQQ's fans are hiding everywhere, little reminders of his presence. He goes to wake up SQQ on the mornings he sleeps in-- only to find the room empty.

IF THIS HAD BEEN WHERE SQQ WAS THE HALF-HEAVENLY DEMON INSTEAD IT WOULD'VE BEEN SO GREAT.#and by great i mean horribly angsty bc SQQ is NOT doing too hot and has. in very SY-like fashion. convinced himself that LBH will kill him #when he finds out he's a demon. so when it comes out i have this mental image of him lunging at LBH and LBH flinches back. but SQQ wraps hi #hands around the blade of Zheng Yang and yanks it up so the tip of the blade is digging into his chest where is heart is. LBH can't yank th #sword away without risking slicing into SQQ's hands. SQQ's hair has fallen out of its tail/bun and is now messily spilling down his #back and its NO helping the kinda deranged look he has going on. he's visibly shaking and his eyes keep flittering away and back at LBH's #face. SQQ is looking at the messages from the system warning him that he has to go into the abyss or punishment will occur. he's like.#rambling though. talking about how shizun doesn't *like* unclean things and there is nothing more unclean than a demon. like he is #INSISTING. LBH can't?? get a fucking word in. actually. SY isn't listening that much either anyways. too overwhelmed with the system and #the amount of stress he's under and his crumbling mental state and the innate and primal desire to live even when he's standing in front of #his own executioner. it all ends with him sitting on the ground at the lip of the abyss with his hair falling in his face. he looks so #unkempt and fallen apart and so distinctly *non-Shen Qingqiu* that LBH feels physically ill over it. tears are streaming down SQQ's face #and despite everything he is smiling. its not a nice smile. its a very frayed falling apart at the seams about to crack smile.#he tells shizun not to worry about staining his blade with this disciple's filthy blood because this disciple will take care of it himself.#and then he falls into the abyss before luo binghe can so much as grab him. the only reason LBh doesn't literally jump in after him is bc #he was numb with shock and the abyss was already closed before he could feel his legs again :]

Tips for fellow dog therians 🐾🦴🐕

☆ wear fur colors! It probably seems simple and like an obvious one but it can easily get overlooked. I wear lots of black and brown, as well as loose clothes to mimic that dense fur look

☆ peanut butter (and other related foods like red meat) can be nice too. I like getting peanut butter crackers from the vending machine or just anything with peanut butter. Nuts and other small crunchy foods can imitate kibble

☆ cuddle up with fellow pets and people

☆ toys! Plush bones, stuffed animals, balls, ect. Can all make great toys for when you have the zoomies

☆ curling up in bed and doing that big dog sigh

☆ gear that aren’t masks and tails! Don’t get me wrong, masks and tails are cool but not the easiest to go out in public with. Some of my favorite more subtle ones are: bracelets with paws or says dog related things on them, converse with paws on them, attaching a leash to my belt (like those grunge chains), dog bone shaped tag with my name on it that I put on a necklace chain, and stuff like that :)

☆ watching documentaries or dog movies or even just watching videos on YouTube of your breed

☆ similarly, playing video games like wolf simulator, animal jam, or whatever

☆ going onto AKC.com and looking at your breed or other breeds and reading all the cool facts and info on them

☆ scratching behind your ear, shaking your head when disoriented or confused, and other doggy mannerisms

☆ make mood boards and collages! I like using the app called shuffles

☆ CAR RIDES especially with the windows down, making ur fur ruffle in the wind

☆ hiking or walking trails

☆ chewlery or cosplay fangs for chomping (from W1ld-wo1fw4lk3r)

Garden harvest~

So today I have decided is the day I try the sweet potato vines!

From some Google searching I found sweet potato vines and leaves are good sources if vitamin A, vitamin min C, antioxidants, thiamin, riboflavin, fiber potassium, iron, magnesium and calcium.

☆☆I always suggest thoroughly researching any plants/plant parts your not fully certain or familiar with concerning edibility before you eat them☆☆

The plant I took most the vines from. This was from 1 slip. I also took a few portions from the round bed I've shared here before.

Splitting apart the vine from the leaves and washing them.

Washing the vine part.

Drying them. When their dried I'll blanch them and cook them up. (Pictures for final result will be in another post, this is a current going on haha 😄)

In other eggciting news! This lil lady suprised us by starting to lay eggs!

Four over the last few days! 🥳 to be honest we weren't expecting anymore till later September or mid October! So this is eggstra eggciting!! (Pardon the pun!)
