Chat, help, I'm in love with this silly comic maker so I made these comic based on some head canons I have:

(The Afton and Alf comic) Afton ran away from home at a young age and got adopted by a better family

(The Henry comic) Henry was put down after finding out about the Trojan Horse project

(The Angus and Roman comic) Angus just...Eats things he's not supposed to and can bring it back up like nothing happened

“Hello, I’ve been meaning to see you both for a while now and I feel like now would be the perfect opportunity to carry out my curiosities. Have you ever wondered what would happen if blood of a dopplegänger were to get mixed into a humans body? If anything were to change the individual if said blood was to course through their body… Is it fine if I were to find out for myself?”

*As I spoke I pull out two empty syringes from my pocket in a none threatening manner of course*

Hoon Man: "Uhhhhh...I'm not actually sure?"

Gnaw: "Hold on, I have god's number, he'll answer it."

Gnaws pulls out her phone and dials "god"'s number into it. It only rings two times before he pick it up.

Keppler: "Hello, you've reached the general director of the D.D.D, Oswald Keppler. How may I help you?"

Gnaws: "Hey, technically dad! It's me, Gnaws. Uh- Quick question, what would happen if Doppel blood got into a human?"

Keppler: "Sw- sweetie, they'd probably be dead...You're blood's basically just embalming fluid. Yo- you guys are technically advanced undead corpses...Would that make me and Afton necromancers- I- I'm sorry, someone else is needing me, I'll probably talk to you again soon, Bye."

Oswald hung up the phone.

Gnaws: "Sooooo...It'd probably not end well."

Hoon Man: "Well, that answers that, I guess. As for the needle thing: Don't even think about it, buddy."

LORE TIME!!!

Soo, i have new interesting theories and headcanons about these three neighbor, they're Mia, Dr. Afton, and.. Anastacha.

1. Theory: Mia probably have higher role than Afton if she's also involved in Trojan Horse Project.

I've made this theory in my Twitter before, but then i just noticed this detail. Most of married couple in the data files are that the men always listed first (top) and the ladies are listed second (bottom), such as Roman and Lois, Arnold and Gloria, Alf and Rafttellyn. But when i saw Mia and Afton, i just noticed that their data position is the opposite which it's kinda weird in some way, considering that we already see Afton has more authority, i even made silly jokes about this detail first and you probably know what it is LMAO 💀 but the more i look at this detail, this might be a hint that Mia is probably a woman that is not really as sweet and innocent as we thought.

In my theory, if Mia involved with T.H.P, i have two wild theory about this. First, Afton probably didn't expect his fiancee was also involved and in the end, they probably end up as enemies instead of lovers and tried to manipulate each other to survive. Second theory, i think Mia might be the daughter of Oswald D. Keppler because that would totally tell why she has higher position than Afton. She also probably the "Teacher" who taught everything to Afton's creation, the doppelgangers, and she's like his most trusted supervisor. They probably met since Afton got recruited there in 1945 and they eventually got engaged not because they only love each other, but they're basically lunatic partner that already did so many terrible things but ended up as lovers anyway, but they might still try to protect or betray each other in the end.

2. Theory: The "I Married a Doppelganger" might imply that Afton and Mia just got married.

Since they're the only engaged couple in the original Itch.io version, i think this news in 4th day of Campaign Mode of the remake tells about Mia's POV of being ignored by Afton after they got married. Since Afton got too busy with his dirty work in T.H.P., he probably decided to make a very perfect doppelganger of himself to live with her while he stays in T.H.P. headquarters because he still genuinely want to keep her safe despite he already got too far with the project. Maybe she doesn't really know what he is up to, OR MAYBE, this is just a made up story by both of them because who knows? Maybe Mia and Afton that we see in the apartment were just doppelgangers all this time because i think they wouldn't be that dumb to risk their life by living in a place that literally surrounded with their own creations.

3. Headcanon: Anastacha sees Mia and Afton as her kindest parents figure.

So in the game, Anastacha is a Student while Mia is a Teacher. Mia probably is a normal teacher for once and she's teaching in the same school as Ana. Anastacha has the "i'm tired with you all" vibes, but in reality, she's probably tired because she's too stressed living with her mother Nacha and having no father figure at all since Francis doesn't really care about her, so Mia might noticed Ana being lonely in the class and she decided to talk with her until to the point Ana got comfortable with Mia. Later, Ana constantly visits Mia's apartment but she also started seeing Afton as a nice father figure because both of them somehow care about her more, but at some point, Francis could notice that because their apartment are next to each other. If Ana really sees Afton as a father figure while not knowing that he's the reason of all of this doppels chaos and disaster, this would be so ironic. In the end, Francis will still try to protect her from him despite he knows that he's not the best father for Ana, but it's because he's the real father of Ana and he still doesn't want to lose his daughter no matter what.

⚠️SPOILERS FOR TNMN NIGHTMARE MODE!⚠️

So someone on reddit sloved tnmn nightmare mode letter the Clown dude but trying to be mysterious gives the player

So you are going to hear me yap about the doppelgangers

So I was right about the doppelgangers being created in my guesses of what anti D.D.D note means.

So the doppelgangers was created by in universe unnamed military company of the government (again also unnamed of where this government is)

The doppelgangers are apart of a project called the "The Trojan Horse project" (Named after The Greek mythology)

They were created around 1945 (Meaning they been around 10 years in the events of Tnmn)

They were two main people behind this a new character called "Oswald d keppler" and an old character "DR.W.AFTON"

My theory is doppelgangers were created to be spies for a fictional war then a real life war that happened in the past

But at some point the doppelgangers got loose.

Either the doppelgangers think people in the apartments are soilders/nurses for the rival of this unknown fictional war aka being the "goal" or they know they are man made creatures causing them to have a hatred for humanity and want to end humanity for that reason or they were exposed to the violence nature of war and they started to mimic it or if they are human experiments they might want revenge on the people who wronged them.

We still don't know if the doppelgangers were human experiments or actual man made creations.

But that just a theory

I'm honestly surprised by the lack of fics that explore the actual lore of tnmn, especially surrounding Afton. As the only character so far with direct ties to the lore he has so much potential

What are his relationships with Mia, Keppler, and the other neighbors like? Is he a villain? A sympathetic antagonist under Keppler's thumb? Why did he choose this line of work? Did he even have a choice? Does anyone suspect him being involved?

Don't get me wrong I see a good amount of this stuff on tumblr, but fanfiction is severely lacking

There are no other fics I've seen that are tagged with Keppler as a character. Most of the fics for this fandom are ship fics, which I'm not saying to condemn them especially since mine are also ship fics, but to say that you can still explore those things in a ship fic

One of my favorite ship fics was a Franzaack one that hasn't been updated in a while, and it had Izaack actively investigating the origins of doppelgangers and explaining to Francis what he's discovered

Angus and Steven are also popular to ship with our fan favorite milkman, and both could also provide great avenues into the lore since one is commonly headcanoned to have ties to the mafia and the other is in the military

Hell the player character literally works for the DDD so reader inserts and doorman centric fics are already a good starting point

And doppelgangers as characters have so much potential when it comes to exploring their perspectives on humanity and each other and what life is like for them

But I was thinking of this whole thing about the Trojan Horse Project and how it might be like a sub-project related to the real life "Operation Paperclip".

Hell, even the dates of beginning and conclusion of said project match with the tnmn universe timeline and the THP.

And it also wouldn't surprise me if Oswald D. Keppler was a... y'know... nazi scientist.

That's Not My Neighbor Timeline

This timeline will show some tidbits of what would be the story of my ocs before the events of the game itself because I have my brain working late at night and I want to share this with you guys :3. This will contain some spoilers about the formation of the D.D.D. and the beginning of the Trojan Horse Project.

1945

Oswald D. Keppler founded the Department of Doppelganger Detection as the General Director of the said department.

The Trojan Horse Project was funded by the Military Department of the Government with Keppler as the General Director of the project and Dr. W. Afton as the Lead Scientist of the said project. 

Some of the prominent employees of the department are Dr. Stanford Abelforth and Dr. Aditha Gulliver who have contributed their expertise in their specialized fields. Both are dedicated to the experiments being conducted in the lab and were praised by many.

1946

A teenager Ollie was scribbling in his notebook about vehicles, fascinated by the world of motorsports. While engrossed with his hobby, a loud noise can be heard outside of his room. His mother cried from fear as she tried to grab the telephone to contact the police, only for the doppelganger that was in the form of his father to kill her before she could utter a word through the phone. Curious and frightened, Ollie rushes out of his room to get the whole glimpse of the disgruntled form of his father. 

Before the doppelganger can kill Ollie, Lazaro happens to arrive earlier than expected as he quickly grabs Ollie away, causing him to have a scar on his right eye. He then grabs his pistol and shoots the doppelganger 4 times. Despite knowing that it's just the doppelganger of his older brother, he feels guilty for doing it. After the events had happened, Ollie then lived with his nonna and aunt throughout his life before moving in to live with his uncle.

In the same year, Ruslan Gulliver, the husband of Aditha, was hired by the D.D.D. as the first doorman of the apartment building that he would be working on. Throughout his job, he encounters different doppelgangers of the tenants in which he is capable of diminishing the differences between the original and the latter. 

1947

Aditha begins to feel unease with the project as she only tells her concerns about Stanford which he is the only person she could trust. Although she also wants to reveal the purpose and objective of the project to her husband Ruslan while having a dilemma whether to reveal it or not, her life is cut short after finding out that Afton happens to hear her conversation with Stanford. Her death was orchestrated by Afton who sent out a doppelganger that was in the form of her husband to “silence” her before she could even report this to the authorities despite the project being funded by the government as she believes this is considered “immoral” and “dangerous” to humanity.

The real Ruslan finds out about this from Stanford as he goes to save her, only to see her dead by the said doppelganger. Out of pure rage, he grabs a sledgehammer, hitting the doppelganger several times before he is now covered in blood. The next year, he quit his job as a doorman before returning years later as a building janitor to reveal the truth beneath the lies of the department.

1951

Delora is an office clerk who works the 9-to-5 shift at a business company. After her shift, she plans on visiting her parents after a tiring day at work from filing documents to answering phone calls through the telephone. When she arrived at the Steding Residence, she noticed the door was open. Curious, she went inside the house, hearing faint weeping noises from the kitchen. To her surprise, she saw her “aunt” from her mother’s side covered in blood as the cold lifeless body of her parents was lying on the floor.

Her “aunt” told her a fabricated story where a doppelganger got inside the house while she was visiting her parents to bring some apple pie. She also stated that she already called the police and was on the way to the scene. Delora noticed the slight difference between her aunt as she doesn't recall her having amber eyes and her mother has grayish ones as well as a mole on her chin. Not buying the story, she grabs a kitchen knife and stabs the doppelganger that was impersonating her aunt at least 7 times as the police arrived into the scene.

One of the officers tries to arrest her but Lazaro stops them midway from handcuffing Delora. He wants to interrogate her first from the beginning until the end of the story about the death of her parents and her alibi. She was taken to the station and asked several questions, once her alibi was considered valid, Lazaro let her go and ended the case. That day forward, Delora becomes more cautious around her surroundings as she develops mistrust of the people she happens to meet.

1955

The business company Delora worked in suddenly went into bankruptcy, causing her to lose her job as an office clerk. While looking for other job opportunities, a mysterious man who happens to be one of the members of D.D.D. gave her a proposition of working as a doorwoman of the apartment building. He believes that her skills of telling which is the doppelganger could stop the rampant invasion of doppelgangers in the building and would be a vital help towards society. Delora was hesitant at first, but she agreed either way.

In February of the same year started her job as the doorwoman of the building in which she encountered different tenants living in each apartment room of the said resident. There she met Ruslan and Stanford who shared a distrust of the D.D.D. and told her to be mindful of the organization that hired her. Throughout her time as a doorwoman, she begins to feel doubtful of the organization as she wants to find out the truth from the lies that the government fabricated to keep the image of the D.D.D. intact. With her snooping around, Dr. Afton becomes more mindful and observant of her actions as her involvement will cause them gravely.
