Anon said: [Spoilers for non-manga readers] opinion on Baku's hero name?
Very Bakugou, honestly don’t mind it at all! Mostly just surprised it’s, like, legal in the bnha universe for heroes to call themselves stuff like explodo-kills (and also that there isn’t a character limit for hero names??) but that Bakugou would stick with it is pretty damn in character for him so I like it xD still, I’ll probably just call him Dynamight if I’ll ever need to use his hero name lmao
Anon said: not to be the most romantic sap but uh just a kiss by lady a is killin me
Nothing sappy about letting romantic songs get to you!!!! I say, as I’m constantly crying over romantic songs so this mindset benefits me as well lol
Anon said: i may or may not have stumbled across some of your older kiribaku art, the stuff with akane, and she's the best child oc tbh. i actually like her and i tend to not be a fan of child ocs but she's just the cutest darn thing 🥰
I’m so glad you like her!!!!! She was a lot of fun, what a good gremlin ;;;
Anon said: uve heard of dragon!kiri w his hair spikes up, now get ready for dragon!kiri w his hair dowm lookin like the softest boy
AW HECK I think I’ve drawn him in the past, actually!!!! Spike-haired Kiri will forever be my fav Kiri, but there’s just something about hair down Kiri isn’t it!! What a cute boy ;;;; all sharp edges and soft curves, what a lovely sight
Anon said: can i just say your itafushi art is so cute? these two already make me feel and then your art just (つω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)
THANK YOU SO MUCH I really need to draw them more, don’t I! goge kinda monopolized my attention there, but the way itafushi makes me feel..........boy the way they make me feel ;;;;
Anon said: good day, poké au thought: 12 y/o bakugo somehow catches a dreepy as like his 2nd pokemon and never questions it
WHY NOT WHY NOT I have a whole team in my mind for the boy tbh but dreepy is so cute ;;;; and anyway, I like my poke!bakugou with as many dragon types as he could possibly get his hands on hahaha
Anon said: Please know that, amongst other factors, you were one of the maon reasons I stsrted Jujutsu Kaisen two days ago and there isnothing more to say except thank you and I'm absolutely in debt with you for that, thank you so much 😍
I’m so so SO glad you’re liking it!!!!!! It can get kinda heavy but it’s such a great story.... honestly I’d been wanting to start it since I saw the first pv for the anime all the way back last year but I was like, you know it’s a mappa anime! so I wanted to watch the anime as a new thing, cause I love mappa, but three episodes in I couldn’t hold back and just binged it. It’s kind of story that just makes you wanna drink it all in one go, isn’t it? so good so good
Anon said: makeup artist kirishima and model bakugo or makeup artist bakugo and model kirishima? :0c
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm can’t say I see either of them much into fashion tbh, but if I had to pick probably model Kiri and artist Baku? I just don’t think Baku would be able to stay still enough to get photographed, and he wouldn’t like the photographer bossing him around anyway, and catwalks would be impossible for him to stomach imho, he’s too restless for it! At least it’s the way I see it haha
Anon said: fdgdhdkfhdafs i had a thought, what if bakugo prefers dogs and kirishima prefers cats and when they meet each other and become friends it's like, "oh." because they have some striking similarities to their fave animals
That’s been my headcanon for a while now, actually!! I think for me it came from two characters in a manga I like that are a lot like a dog and a cat but have inverted fav animals and when I read about that I was like “oh, right, makes sense since they like each other” and then my brain turned it krbk because when does it not lmao
Anon said: your art is the soothing balm to my soul recently, thank you for posting so much beautiful content. i hope you have a lovely week. ♡
sob thank you so much, I’m glad my doodling can help you feel better ;; <3
Anon said: Friendly reminder anon from last time: that post I left last time I had only eaten 7 gingersnaps that day and hadn’t drank any water. So that encouraged me to actually self care. Thank you.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well I hope you’re taking care of yourself today too! And as fair trade, I’ll do the same myself! <3
Anon said: Hi! I'm an artist and I'm thinking of making a sideblog for my art. Do you have any tips?
Ah man, I’m sorry but I’m not the best person to ask this to! I started this sideblog cause I had too many followers on my main and I didn’t want my stuff to be seen by that many people at first, so whatever I did probably isn’t what you’re looking for :( but really there isn’t much to it, just post whatever you like to draw, tag it as best as you can (but remember that only the first five tags appear in the search page) and be patient, since whatever you do at first you won’t get much attention anyway - the only real advice I can give is to draw something that makes you happy and that you’d draw anyway even if no one were to see it, it’ll make keep posting despite a possible lack of activity a lot easier!
Anon said: Your goge art🥺🥺
I just love them so much ( TT’’’TT)9
Anon said: how the fuck have i not been following you? I remember seeing your bakushima art in the bnha tag and always thinking it's so cute. Now you're into JJK too??? and the satosugu art??? fuckin, diabetes incarnate. I love it. I love you. Your art 10/10. I'm tired lmao.
WELL thank you for the follow!! And for thinking my stuff is cute!!!!! I do my best with that, I want all the soft things for my favs 😌
Anon said: Are you gonna draw Gojou/Getou comic?? 👉🏻👈🏻 WOULD LOVE TO READ IT
you mean an actual doujin? I don’t think I will, sorry! I’m really no good at long projects orz but thank you so much for wishing to read something like that from me!!! ;A;
Anon said: Hello! YOUR ART IS SO FREAKING GORGEOUSSSS!!! I love them so much!! If I may ask you one question. Between Getou amd Gojou, who do you see as top/bottom? Just curious
THANK YOU!!!!! And I honestly don’t care as long as they’re happy and together!!! please let them be happy and together 🙏🙏🙏
Anon said: i want you to know!!! i followed you for your kiribaku art but!!! i love your art so much that idc what you post because it's all just!!!! incredible and wonderful and stunning!!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! this means a lot to me so seriously thank you so much!!!!
Anon said: d'you think bakugo has like headaches or migraines after training or battles because of how loud his quirk is? like, i listen to music slightly too loud and my head is sending me to hell. (unless you go with the hoh hc which is also 👌)
I like to think Baku’s body is attuned enough to his own quirk that he wouldn’t get drawbacks of the kind tbh, though that wouldn’t be a bad thought for when he just starts to increase the output/width and strength of his explosions............ well, I myself suffer from chronic headaches and migraines so I’m always up for projecting on my favs ngl lmao
Anon said:  so like... dragon kirishima's eyes glow right? like, if we equate his dragon-ness to unbreakable his eyes glow? they also glow when he's half shifted? honestly i just live glowing eyes
Oh hell yeah I’m all for that, definitely definitely, I love glowing eyes with my whole heart and Kiri’s eyes in unbreakable are just so!!!!!! NGH *chef kiss* the more of unbreakable there is in his dragon form the happier I am ( TT^TT)9
Anon said: me, scrolling through your blog: ah shit guess im gonna have to start watching jjk
!!!!! hope it won’t hurt you too much, anon!!
Anon said: dragon!kiri and bakugo having a tug-of-war match over a piece of meat. both have it in their mouths. both are determined to win.
Kiri is turned into his dragon form and Baku still wins, hell yeah
Anon said: your satosugu is top tier!! it's hard to find stuff for them that isn't straight up angst so your art has been super cool and also very very cute!! (tho if you went with angst, it wouldn't be a bad thing obviously)
AH I’m so happy to hear you like them!!!! but also happy you wouldn’t mind angst, as I do like them the best happy and soft but my brain, my brain has been throwing sads my way for a while now 👀 I got some ideas
Anon said: What program/device do you use??
Easy Paint Tool SAI and a wacom intuos!! Though I got myself an ipad+procreate just yesterday and I’ve been messing around with it, let’s see how that one goes!
Anon said: *inahles* i am simping for mohawk man please tell me everything about your ocs immediately or i will detonate
THANK YOU FOR LIKING HIM HE’S CALLED DAVIDE Dav for short, he’s a cat of a man and a music instrument enthusiast (mostly string ones, but he’s very good with the piano as well) - he works in a music instruments store, and he’s a uni student majoring in philosphy! He doesn’t like bothersome things, he isn’t very good at taking anything seriously or putting effort in stuff, but he’s very chill to spend time with and generally a nice chat both if you want mindless thoughts or deep conversations (he’s a philosophy major after all). He can’t sing for shit, he’s got two cats (tago and schelly!), and he just wants a quiet life to laze around but all his friends are hurricanes in human bodies, but then again, he picked them himself so he can’t complain. He’s a good boy!! I’m planning a comic for him and his boy Ross >:]

yo nadia <3333 i'm bored in my online classes and u reblogged the questions thingy at the right time lmao, so get ready: 1, 4, 5, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, 28, 30!!!, 34, 38, 39, 40 (the intimacy of being understood) (imma stop here lol) (also i'm sorry u're not feeling well, ily and hope u'll feel better soon!! <33333)
ELE ILY. (and thank you, i’m stayin home today cause,,, yeah. i appreciate you sm.) you’re the literal best, i adore you.
1. How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?
The first fanfiction i read was for The Lunar Chronicles when I was like 11?? and it was 100% on accident and it scarred me because it was a hardcore porn one with a period kink and i was like WHAT IS THIS??? OH MY GOD???? LMAOOOOO i didn’t pick it back up until i was 13-14 and really got into the Fairy Tail fandom. I still reread my favorites on ff.net cause i love them.
As for writing, I wrote a horrible, terrible x-men fanfiction when I was twelve. (my friend still brings it up and REFUSES to delete it so it still gets comments and views, that shit HAUNTS ME ELE.) then tried again for Fairy Tail, posted like two chapters before taking it down cause i wasn’t really feeling it. And then I posted The Intimacy Of Being Understood and here we are.
4. Link your three favorite fics right now.
OMGG okok
@murd3rm1ttens ‘s The Problem How Time Works IF YOU HAVENT READ THIS YOU GUYS NEED TO HOP ON IT ASAP. MITTEN’S WRITING SO SO SO SO GOOD. SAKURA AND INO ARE TOTAL BADASSES. KAKASHI IS A SIMPPPP. ITS SO FUCKING GOOD.
@mouseymightymarvellous ‘s We Were Screaming In Color (Only A Possibility) yes, yes I KNOW. i always point into mousey’s direction but i WILL always advocate that everyone reads her fics, they’re literally so beautiful???? i just happen to be rereading WWSIN rn
@safelycapricious ‘s Shaking Up And Breaking Down series. I found this like?? idfk but i’ve been raving about it ever since. ALSO CHECK OUT THEIR FICS IN GENERAL.
fuck i have more than three but also check out @ambivalens999 ‘s Masks
i do wanna make a fic rec thing where i just rav about my favs,,, might do that later or sum
5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?
Omniscient third person. I don’t like it. Like I can understand that it can be a little hard to stay in one person’s perspective but, in my opinion, if you can, it shows how disciplined you are as a writer. Plus, i just get so confused when I go from A’s thoughts to suddenly what B is thinking about A.
When writers use ‘ ‘ instead of “ “. When writers put thoughts in ‘ ‘ instead of just italicizing them. It’s small things but like they just bother me sO MUCH. most of the time i can ignore it and try to enjoy but other times i just dip.
9. Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community.
@espoir-et-reves !!!!! THEIR SHISAKU FICS ARE SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. And they have a warring states one going on THAT I AM SO OBSESSED WITH.
@writer168 idk if they’re really “underrated” but THEY HAVE SUCH GREAT FICS ON AO3. Like theres an AU with sakura, kiba, and shino that i reread constantly because it just. is. so. fucking. GOOD. and they posted a new one that i’m YELLING about.
@eggtoasties okay they only have 2 in the naruto fandom (one shisaku which is still ongoing) BUT THEIR WRITING STYLE IS SO NICE?? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I still go back and reread their shikasaku one cause UGH i can’t get enough. I love it.
10. What’s your favorite fandom, pairing, or character to read fic for?
Fandoms: Naruto, Soul Eater, The Old Guard, ATLA
Parings: KakaSaku/ShikaSaku/ShiSaku/MultiSaku, SoMa, Joe X Nicky, Zukka
Character: SAKURA. I will read anything with Sakura as the main character and her being a fuckin badass or becoming a badass. I love her.
17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?
aha.. haha.. well. I check my email like three times an hour. its the first thing i check in the mornings too. I’m literally a whore for praise and literally eat up feedback like its going out of style. I also reread a lot of my stuff because i make so many mistakes and spelling errors, or the spacing is weird oR SOMETHING. plus, literally any and all comments make my day, i go back and reread them cause they just make me feel so tingly and warm like “wow. this person enjoyed the fic/my writing enough to tell me. thats HUGE!”
23. What’s your absolute favorite trope to write?
Angry, feral, bloodied, morally gray women. They aren’t bad guys, they’re probably the good guy, but that doesn’t mean they cant be fucking raging at the world with raw knuckles and blood on their teeth. I just love an angry woman who struggles with her emotions and just has so much inner conflict but that doesn’t take away from her character or badassery, it adds to it.
24. What’s a trope that you’d like to never hear about as long as you live, let alone write?
The fake dating or miscommunication troupe. LIKE GUYS JUST TALK. AND TELL EACH OTHER OMFG. the entire like obliviousness of “nah they dont like me” while the They holds their hand and kisses their cheek. MOFO WHAT. it makes me so impatient and like mad HAAHHAHA. its probably because i’m a pretty confrontational person so seeing stuff like that just “cmon bro, USE YO HEAD.”
28. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie: pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc)?
I have yet to receive a negative comment! Which i was really surprised about tbh. As for deadlines or pressure to update, i just kind of do whatever. I do set goals, but i set them flexible enough that hey, if i can’t do it, that’s okay.
I have a lot of mini goals, like “i want to write this chapter and get it done this week” and then the large goal is “FINISH BY END OF MAY” so i have time.
Actually, now that I think on it, the entire pressure to update thing is probably why i’m waiting until I have all of OL&W written to post it weekly,, cause well. I wouldn’t wanna leave you guys waiting as I tried to write and work out the next chapters and stuff, you know?
30. Post a snippet from your current WIP without context - no more than 300 words.
AAAAAA YOU KNOW I LOVE THESE AHAHAHAH
Have you seen the way the dead dance, World Breaker? They roar, half mad and starving. Do you not wish, do you not hope to see them twist and bend and dance to your will?
Shikamaru snarls, looking behind his shoulders to where his Shadows lay. “Patience.” He spits. “Is of the essence, Things of Ancient. Know your place as the dark you are.”
34. How much of yourself and your life experiences do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is?
None of my experiences match up to anything I write tbh,,, probably the only thing that is me in my writing is maybe the emotional turmoil? I’m pretty emotionally and mentally mature because from a pretty young age i started forming my own opinions, started looking into the world around us and being like “dude what the fuck this is not what disney advertised”. Then i started talking (read: arguing and debating) with my dad about a lot of it. So, like emotions are kind of hard for me. Like i’m pretty good at controlling them or understanding them, but still. idk its hard to explain ig.
Like the weight of stress, the anger, the sadness. It’s kind of therapeutic to write. Cause i don’t know how to put those feelings to verbal words so writing them really helps.
As for my readers’ image? Probably like some kind of hunched over figure typing away in the dark with a maniacal grin on their face. I honestly don’t know AHHAHAHA but it is fun to think about. I think they’d see me as someone with potential but a lot of room to grow and someone who is imperfect but in a charming way LMAOOOO
38. What does your writing process look like? How chaotic is it on a scale of 1 (very tame) to 10 (you can’t handle this kind of chaos)?
I’m gonna be real honest. Its probably like a 2. I’m a bit of a control freak so I almost always go in chronological order, my writing is pretty linear. Unless, i get bored and jump to one of my fav parts. It's pretty much i sit down, i open the doc, read over my notes and just start writing.
It’s a little boring to explain AHAHAHA but once i get into the groove of things its really fucking great, I can like feel myself in the world, I can feel what i want the characters to, i love it. I catch myself mouthing the words as i type too, which i find hilarious.
39. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
I rather like how raw my writing is sometimes. Which might sound really vain, but i do like the way i word things or describe things. I love juxtaposition and repetition, or making a good ole circle back to some minute detail that wouldn’t stand out until i repeat it at the end and you’re like “omg” AHAHAHAHA.
Like those little poetic snippets or certain wording i just sit back and go “damn thats kinda good nadia! go you!’ HAHAHA
40. How did you come up with the idea for The Intimacy Of Being Understood?
AAAAA this fic is like my first child, my pride and joy LMAO
so the idea initially came when i was reading some fic, idk if it was even naruto, but i was like “i don't like this, but i do like the rain symbolism.” And I knew i wanted to write something kind of slow paced, something a little sad and angsty, but would show KakaSaku slowly but surely falling in love.
Idk if you’ve noticed but a lot of my fics, the pairings don’t change each other dramatically. They accept each other as they are and then they grow with together. Like that acceptance is something i just love writing, its so subtle, it isn’t something you declare. Its simply “I am going to love you. I am going to love you despite your flaws and faults. I am going to love you unconditionally because I know you, I understand you, and there is nothing you could do to drive me away.”
The fic kind of wrote itself after that first scene. I kept going back to the rain, go being ghosts, and resurrection, and the small epiphanies one gets. I wanted to focus on each character’s growth with each other. They didn’t find light in life because of each other, but with each other. And i think that’s my favorite thing about that fic.
I wanted something raw and real and just something beautiful. I’m actually really proud of it tbh. Would i go back and rewrite/edit it? Oh of course! I’d do that with every single one of my fics, but i’m not gonna cause i think its in its rawest form right now. :))))
ask me shit plz

Secret Santa for @petri808 !
I’m soooo sorry this is late! I was really trying to cram a lot in, and I bit off a bit more than I could chew. So, I really put my heart and soul into this fic! It’s Christmas related and really fun. It is a modern AU, but I suppose you can interpret some things differently and make it in their time. I hope you like it!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Christmas Cuddles 🥰
Natsu promised! He promised to be home by Christmas. But low-and-behold, he’s not here. Ughh...I’m sure you’re confused, maybe just a bit, but let me take you back to the beginning of the week, the 21st, when all this drama started...
I quickly shot open my eyes at the sudden loud noise that arouse from behind me. I’m generally not a light sleeper, I don’t wake up easily at all, but this noise freaked. me. out. Even though my eyes had shot open, they were still heavy and droopy. I sat up almost immediately and grabbed whatever was in my reach.
“Who’s there!” I yelled, but in a mildly croaky, I-just-woke-up, voice. I had grabbed the big, fluffy pillow I was sleeping on and pointed it at the window behind me. It was silent for a moment and I thought ‘well, maybe it was just a dream’ as I was about to reset my pillow in its rightful position, I heard a stifled noise.
“Pffffftttttt!!” The noise sounded. I squinted at the figure that had opened my window and was sitting on the window sill. Only ONE person would do that, well, him, and his crazy blue cat.
“Wha- Natsu! What are you- It’s 1:00 in the morning!” I yelled at him, his voice finally breaking out into high pitched laughter. He clung onto the window above him with his hands, laughing hard enough to which he had to. I groaned and rolled my eyes, laying back down and covering my face with my fluffy pillow. Once he calmed down, he finally spoke.
“C’mon, Luce! It’s all just fun and games!”
“Not when someones braking in!” I yelled at him through my pillow. He stood, more like sat, in silence for a while - as did I. I quietly stared at the pillow covering my face, waiting for him to do something. I waited a few more minutes, still in complete silence. Then I heard him moving. I could feel him staring at the pillow above my face, as he did this often. W-well, I don’t cover my face w-with pillows like, all the time, he just stares at my face a lot while I’m sleeping! Now that just makes him sound like a stalker..! Well, back to reality. I then felt the pillow move, just slightly, before it was lifted from my face. My hands were like noodles, they slid off the pillow quite easily. He threw the pillow from his hands onto the floor. We were staring at one another, eyes agape. I was laying down on my bed, and he was hanging on my bed frame - like a child, might I add - in front of the window he was just hanging on. He began to lean down, - I have no idea how, but he did - as I began to lean upward, propping up my elbows on my bed. We became close enough, close enough to feel each others mild breath on each others skin. In a boldly fast, yet, hot, move, he kissed me. Of course, who was I to oppose. It was a light and gentle kiss, but full of passion. It was just one kiss, then we pulled away. He did some weird maneuver, then plopped down next to me on my bed. He let out this big, disgusting, yawn, I scoffed at his boyishness.
“So, what’s up Luce?” Natsu spoke grinning at me.
     “Ugh your disgusting.”
“Tell that to the cute smile on your face.” Natsu backed talked, making me realize my ginormous smile that had crept up on my face. I blushed momentarily, but when I saw him blushing, I laughed, I realized what he said.
“Did you...Did you just say that I was cute..?” I smiled, teasing him.
“Ummmmm...No? Yeah, no. No. No no no no-”
     “Yes you did!”
     “No I didn’t!”
“Yes you did, and don't you say you didn’t!” We bantered back and forth, laughing when we were done. He gave me a peck on the cheek, and we both settled down a bit.
“So, where’s happy? You’re always, like, walking him or carrying him around in a matching backpack.” I spoke as I laughed.
“Oh, he’s sleeping. I want him rested in the car ride for the trip, or else he's gonna be a cranky kitty!” Natsu spoke in a little baby voice - more like kitty voice. I was a little confused, however.
“Trip? What trip?” I asked Natsu, confused.
“Oh, yeah. That’s what I was coming to talk to you about...” Natsu spoke, losing the happiness in his voice, sounding very lets-get-to-buisness.
“Uh, ok?” I said, kinda weirded out.
“So, work called. They said I need to check out some business thingy over in Clover. It’ll be a ton of meetings and it’s very urgent, apparently.” Natsu spoke. I suddenly had this feeling of dread and sadness crawl up my spine and into my shoulders.
“Clover?! B-but Clover is 9 hours away! Natsuuuu!” I yelled in annoyance. He very rarely has work complications, and especially not during the holidays. He’s even off on Christmas!
     “Luce, I know your upset-”
“No! You can’t call me “Luce” right now! You’re being a...a...a butt-head!!” I yelled at Natsu. He looked at me a caressed my cheek with his soft palm. I calmed down instantly. Damn that ass knows how to push my buttons!
“Luce, I know your upset, and we have plans for Christmas, but I promise, I promise promise promise I’ll be back for Christmas Eve. At the absolute latest, 12:00 on Christmas morning. We’ll have Christmas cuddles on Christmas! Lucy, I promise...” Natsu spoke softly. I tried to keep it together. I wouldn't meet his eyes.
“S-so, w-when do you leave...?” I asked, obvious sadness in my voice.
“My plane leaves early tomorrow morning. I can stay the night if you want.” Natsu spoke, still in his soft, calming voice. I finally met his eyes and pulled out a tiny smile.
“O-ok” I spoke. He hugged my waist and we laid down together, cuddling.
“You promise?” I asked, my eyelids becoming heavy again against his hot torso.
“Yeah, Luce. I promise it’ll be the best Christmas ever-” I fell asleep, as he paused his speech. I heard a light chuckle.
     “Night, Luce. Love you.”
‘Love you too.’ I spoke in my head.
Early Morning - Dec. 22nd
I woke up the next morning at 8:00, and hour later than usual. Damn Natsu, probably kept me awake too long.
“Natsu! You kept me up-” I paused. He wasn’t there. My eyes made their way into a frown. He was gone. He had left. Without saying goodbye, well, at least to my conscious mind. I rubbed my eyes and glanced over to where he had been sleeping. I saw a slightly crumbled piece of paper, he probably got it from my notebook. I turned it over and read his note. It was simple. The usual “I’m sorry, Goodbye, Love you” thing that guys - and girls - do in movies when their leaving. Usually, they don’t come back. I decided to text Levy, to see if we could hang out, maybe do some late Christmas shopping. She agreed, and we were off about an hour later. We ran into a lot of the other girls there, and we started hanging out with them too. It was a great way to occupy my time. I even got Natsu a little something, I know he’ll love it.
Afternoon - Dec. 23rd
Today is present wrapping day. I thought I would invite the girls over again and make a day of it, they were a great distraction last time, but today their all spending time with their boyfriends. Soooo...It’s just me and Plue, he’s the cutest dog ever! I tried texting and calling Natsu this morning, but it didn’t deliver, he’s most likely in a rural part of Clover, they have NO service there whatsoever. All I just keep thinking about is Natsu! He leaves occasionally for longer periods of time and I do just fine! So, why am I like this now?
     “Ugghhhhh!!” I sighed.
     “Boys are so stupid!”
Late Afternoon - Dec. 24th
I scrummaged through my closet to find the dress I had bought two days ago. It was perfect for this Christmas party Gramps was hosting at his giant academy. Gramps made this great academy for training of certain talents, that’s where all my girlfriends - and Natsu - and I all met! They’re my closest and best friends. We’ve been there for years, well, our studies actually ended there a while ago, but Gramps actually shut down the place because he liked us so much. Gramps is the best. It sucks that Natsu isn't here, he and gramps have a great connection. He’d also gets hella crazy and rambunctious, his specialty. I was in the middle of changing in my bedroom when I heard a knock at the door. Levy said she’d be coming to pick me up so I assumed it was her.
“Come in! I’m almost ready!” I yelled. I heard the door open and close.
“Good, cuz we’re- OH MY GOD!!” A voice yelled, an almost masculine voice. I looked up.
“OH MY GOD! Gray!! Turn around!!” I yelled at Gray, who was really embarrassed. Hell, I have the right to be more embarrassed than him! He’s the one who saw me in my bra and underwear.
“Gray! I am so so so so so so sorry!! I thought you were Levy!”
“U-um I-It’s ok...I should’ve...announced myself.” Gray said. I was trying to zip up my gorgeous red dress, but it wasn't working.
     “shit...” I mumbled.
“What’s wrong?” Gray asked with concern.
“Nothing...It’s just... I can’t zip up my dress. Could you...maybe...help?” I asked awkwardly.
“U-um are you dressed?” Gray asked, also awkwardly. I sat in silence for a moment, dumbfounded by his stupidity.
“Well, if I’m asking you to zip up my dress, then what the hell do you think?” I asked Gray. He cautiously turned around and walked towards me. I turned around and moved my hair. He was still awkward. Boys are so bizarre. Gray also went to Gramp’s academy.
“A-alright. You’re all zipped up!” Gray spoke. I turned around and looked at Gray. He looked surprisingly nice, and he hadn’t stripped yet! Although, he was missing his tie. I chuckled.
“Gray? Where’s your tie?” I asked, still laughing a bit.
“Uhh yeah. Juvia...sort of...tried to tie me- she just took it.” I laughed more at Grays predicament.
“Levy’s here, by the way. She’s driving. She just asked me to get you.” Gray spoke as he lead me out of my apartment. I glanced at my phone; I felt a buzz in my hand. I looked at it with hope in my eyes, wishing it to me Natsu. However, it wasn’t. It was some notification from the local library. My eyes became filled with disappointment.
     “Hey, Gray?” I spoke.
     “Whats up?”
“Have you...Have you heard from Natsu at all?” I asked with hope streaming through my voice.
“W-well um no n-not really...?” Gray spoke, but in a jittery sort of way.
“Wait! Has he reached out to you?! Is he on his way? Will he be here in time? Is he o-”
“Lucy! He will be here. Just...trust me.” Gray interrupted me. We moved in silence until we reached Levys car. Gray opened the door for me.
“Hey Lev!” I yelled to her.
“Hey Lu!” She yelled back. My question to her was the same as my question to Gray.
“Soooo...Any word from Natsu? Has Gajeel heard anything?” I asked, again, with way too much hope in my voice.
“I’m sorry Lu, but neither of us have. He’ll show up though! I just know it!” Levy spoke to me in her usual bubbly voice. But if he’s not here yet, and no one’s heard from him, then chances aren’t likely that he’ll be here intimate for Christmas.
“If he’s not at the party by 11:00, then you can come crash with me. Maybe the girls would like to join!” Levy spoke with excitement. I smiled, a Christmas sleepover with the girls sounded awesome.
     “Ok, thanks Lev”
_______________________________________________________
“So...that’s the story. And now it’s 10:45, still no word from Natsu, and I’m depressed...” Lucy spoke with sadness. All the girls looked at her with sadness in their eyes, but also with a consoling touch to make Lucy feel better.
“Awwwee...I’m so sorry Lu. At least we can have an awesome sleepover tonight at my place!” Levy spoke with excitement, again. All the girls loved the idea, and as did Lucy. That being said, all Lucy wanted to do was spend Christmas with Natsu.
“Ah, what the hell. If he’s not here for Christmas, screw em’! I don’t need that jerk! I’ve got you guys! Now, let’s get drunk and have the best Christmas hangover ever!” Lucy yelled with promise, snatching a beer from a waiter strolling through the party. All the girls looked at her with surprise.
“Hell ya! Now you’re talking my language, Lucy! WoooooHoooo!!” Cana yelled, drinking out of her huge barrel of beer.
“Cana! Don’t encourage her!” Mira yelled at Cana.
“And you know why...she can’t be hungover on Christmas. EEEHHHH It’s so exciting!!!!” Mira whispered at first, out of Lucys range of hearing, then yelled loudly, much to Lucy’s range of hearing. Everyone shhhed Mira.
“What’s exciting?” Lucy spoke, intrigued. All of the other girls facepalmed at Mira.
“O-oh just the epic sleepover we’re gonna have! Yay!” Mira spoke, saving the surprise. Lucy nodded at her good excuse, believing it.
“As excited as I am about about the sleepover, don't you guys all have boyfriends to cuddle with on Christmas?” Lucy asked, taking large sips of her beer. Cana took Lucys bottle of beer mid-sip.
     “Hey!” Lucy yelled at Cana.
“You’re too much of a lightweight to be drinking on Christmas Eve, plus, we could be Christmas cuddling with our boyfriends, but trust me, it’ll all be worthwhile when tomorrow comes. And no one wants you drunk on Christmas, Lucy. That would suck!” Cana spoke to Lucy. Lucy smiled. Lucy was about to speak, to say a ‘Thank you’ but then Cana started chugging the beer Lucy had once been sipping on. Lucy decided not to pipe up. Just to relax, and spend time with the girls. They laughed and talked until 12:00, and then decided to start their sleepover. The girls said goodbye to their boyfriends, and went over to Levy’s place. They played weird Christmas games and laughed for hours. at 2:00 in the morning, Lucy was handed a glass of water from Mira.
“Have a sip!” Mira spoke. Lucy felt as though everyone was watching her take a drink. She grabbed the cup of water and took a sip, next thing she knew, she was out cold.
_______________________________________________________
Lucy yawned loudly as she slowly opened her eyes. She looked around where she was, and came to a realization.
“I’m in my house?! On my bed!?” Lucy yelled, very confused.
“Did my friends drug me?” She asked sarcastically. She knew her friends would never drug her, much less drug her then bring her back to her apartment, but it sure as hell felt like it. She sat up and looked around some more. She didn't see her friends. She was incredibly confused. She got up and decided to keep on her cute Christmas PJ’s. She walked around a bit, testing the waters to make sure she and the girls didn’t do some crazy shit. She sat back down on her bed, seeing that everything was ok. She grabbed her book from her nightstand and started reading. Only then did she realize...
“IT’S CHRISTMAS!!” She yelled, completely forgetting the date. Right as she was about to run into the living room, the heard a-
“Meooowwww~” Lucy turned her head to see a “happy” blue cat rubbing up against her leg.
“Happy!!!” She grabbed Happy and hugged him so tight against her face. Another realization hit.
“Wait a sec. If you’re here Happy, then-” Lucy stopped. She began running down the hall of her apartment, Happy cuddling up against her. She began to notice rose petals on the ground as she ran, however, the only thought on her mind was seeing Natsu.
“Natsu! Natsu are you there!?” She shouted as she ran. She was coming up on the living room.
“Natsu! Nat-” She paused. She stopped. Her whole world had stopped. She lightly dropped down Happy and covered her mouth with both hands. She started to tear up. In front of her, was all of her girlfriends, and all of her awesome guy friends standing around looking at her. And there was Natsu. Down on one knee, with a tiny red velvet box in his hand. Lucy fell to her knees. She started to cry.
“Lucy” Natsu spoke, with the absolute sweetest, calmest voice imaginable. Lucy was shaking, shivering, exhilarated.
“U-Um, I’ve...for” Natsu spoke, nervous and stuttering, Lucy chuckled at his nervousness. Gajeel and Gray kicked Natsu in the back to get him in the right headspace. Natsu used all his strength to keep from hitting them back, well, almost all his strength. He used a lot of it to get up the courage to actually propose. Natsu breathed in.
“Lucy, I’ve...I’ve loved you for my whole life. Well, not my whole life. I’ve only known you for a few years...b-but I’ve loved you ever since. First as a best friend, then quickly after, as a girlfriend. And now I-I hope I can love you...as my wife.” Natsu spoke, blushing and happy. Gray and Gajeel facepalmed. They had basically helped Natsu develop this big, sweet, speech(with the help of the girls), and he just skipped to the end. All the girls were teary eyed, though, especially Levy. Eventually the guys even smiled, happy for their friends. Lucy was crying along with the girls too. She couldn’t believe this was reality. She pinched her hand to see if it really was, and she was so so so so happy it was.
“Lucy...” Natsu spoke. Lucy was anticipating the big moment.
“Will you...marry me...?” It was silent for a moment. All that was in the air was the suspension affecting those whom were watching the proposal, and Natsu and Lucys eyes staring at each other for the longest time. Lucy arose to her feet, and walked close to Natsu. She then got back on her knees and caressed his cheeks, he was still holding the ring out.
“...yes...Yes! Yes yes yes yes!!!” Lucy screamed as she hugged Natsu. He hugged her back. Along with everyone else in the room, Natsu’s eyes started watering too. The pair started to kiss, everyone watching was just staring at them. After a few moments of them kissing, - with everyone still staring - someone spoke.
“Ummm we should probably leave them be.” Gray and Gajeel said in unison. Levys eyes watered magnificently.
“You ok, Lev?” Gajeel asked Levy.
“*sniff* yeah, just *sniff* happy for her.” Levy spoke. Gajeel lead her out of the apartment, hand on her back.
“Love you, Lu!” Levy spoke, before the two left the apartment. Just as they were about to leave, Gajeel and Levy heard Natsu mumble something in Lucys ear, then Lucy laughing, then them making out again. Gajeel shut the door. He put his arm around Levy.
“C’mon, shrimp. Let’s spend some time together.” Gajeel spoke. Levy nodded happily.
__________________________________________________
Lucy laid in bed, being cuddled and hugged by Natsu. She was staring at her hand, more so the gorgeous diamond that sat upon it. Natsu, noticing this decided to speak.
“You like it, huh?” Natsu asked snuggling Lucy even more and resting his head upon her shoulder.
“It’s beautiful...When did you get it? I never saw it. And I’m always snooping around your stuff.” Lucy smiled. Natsu chuckled at her cuteness.
“Well, I got it on that “business trip”.” Natsu put in quotations. Lucy turned her attention to Natsu, looking confused at him. Lucy had it written on her face: Natsu, explain.
“So, when was on the plane, it was announced that the meetings were cancelled, well, more so postponed. But since I was on the plane, I never got the notification. Once I got off, I tried to find another flight back to Magnolia, but they were all booked, so I couldn't fly out until the time in which the ticket I had bought said, which was late the 23rd. So I decided that I should wait it out. I was resting in my hotel that morning, and I fell asleep. Then I woke up from a dream. I quickly got out of bed and got dressed and headed to the ring store thingy. You see, I had been planning to propose to you for a few months, but I just didn’t know how to go about it or when to do it. My dream, crazy as it sounds, told me everything I needed to know. So I bought the perfect ring, that I knew you'd love, called the boys and told them to spread the plan, then the plan was to get on the plane and spend Christmas Eve with you, then propose. But my flight got delayed, and I didn't end up leaving until late the 24th. Luce, I’m sorry I wasn’t here. But, hey. At least you got one hell of a Christmas present.” Natsu explained. Lucy chuckled at his .
“Speaking of Christmas presents, I got you a little something.” Lucy spoke. She released herself from Natsu arms and pulled out a perfectly wrapped gift from under her, their, bed, and handed it to him. He opened it, smiling. Without finishing unwrapping it, he looked at it, and smiled more. It was a picture of the first time they met. They met outside of Gramp’s academy on their first day there, and back then, Levy was a vivid photographer, and she took pictures of everything. She took that picture of when they first, and gave it to Lucy for her to throw away, or keep, and Lucy kept it. She decided to Give it to Natsu since he never saw it before. He stared at the picture for a moment, then looked back at Lucy, who was looking at him. He kissed her, vigorously, for a while. They then cuddled for the rest of the night eventually falling asleep.
     “See, Christmas cuddles...Luce...”

Daminette December Day 9: 'Soulmate AU'
@daminette-december2019
(More of the Minuit AU, but now we're back in present time. Master Fu had given it to Damian before he moved to Paris, and Damian and Marinette / Minuit and Ladybug have never met)
---
Honestly, what did he expect.
Paris. The City of Love.
---
Damian had long given up on finding his soulmate. Ever since young, his mother had enforced the idea that soulmates were useless and only a liability- And he had grown to think that he didn’t have a soulmate. Even if he did have one, what kind of soulmate would want him back?
He’d always ignored his soul mark. In fact, he had been ashamed of it. He’d always hidden it from his mother, not wanting to know what she’d think of it.
The print on his ankle, where his soulmate was supposed to touch him the first time. A hand mark, where her hand clamps around his ankle. He honestly can’t picture a scenario where his soulmate would just lie down and grasp his ankle, which just made the entire thing even more ridiculous.
Even when he was living with Bruce, he didn’t care about his mark, and since none of his siblings ever asked, he never bothered to mention it.
He’d given up on all hope of a soulmate- But who knew that she was waiting in the City of Love for him.
---
It was Alfred’s idea.
An old friend of Alfred, a man named Fu, had came to visit the Wayne manor, and the moment Fu’s eyes landed on him, he could feel the amount of chaos radiating off the boy.
While Damian appeared calm and composed on the outside, in the inside... He wasn’t that much calm and composed. More chaotic. His thoughts, whenever he let them free- Would rocket off the walls of his mind, echoing in doubts and all the memories in which he wasn’t good enough. There was always the ‘What if’, and Damian tried his very best to restrain his inner chaos.
The moment Plagg set eyes on him, the god of destruction claimed his new kitten. Agreste was deemed unfit by Plagg himself, and Ladybug had only aided in taking the cat miraculous away and setting the cat god free.
And now Fu was looking for a new holder.
And Damian just happened to be that holder.
And so, thanks to Alfred’s wonderful suggestion, Damian was shipped off to Paris.
---
‘Annoying’ would be the one word that Damian would use to describe Plagg.
First of all, the tiny black thing wouldn’t stop calling him ‘Kid’.
Second, the thing kept insisting for cheese. And Damian had to explain that ‘No, there isn’t any camembert on the plane, you stupid little-’
And there was also the problem of the fact that no matter how hard he tried, Damian couldn't force the ring off his finger. In all the hurry of shipping him to Paris to aid Ladybug, no one paused to think about the fact that perhaps, Damian didn't want to be the next Chat Noir.
The moment he landed in Paris, he had dragged himself to the toilet to begin an intense conversation with Plagg.
“Take it back.” Damian hissed. “I’ve told you, I don’t want to be the cat holder.”
Plagg hissed right back. “Ladybug needs a partner!”
“And why must I be the candidate?” Damian was really fed up at this point.
“Because Agreste was an abusive cat and he was unfit! He was putting the lady in danger! She needs a competent cat!”
Damian paused at this, gritting his teeth.
“Fine.”
---
He had imagined that he would meet his spotted partner on a calm night where he would convince her to ask Plagg to unclaim him. He did not, absolutely did not imagine that it would be a life-or-death situation.
The Akuma bell rang, and he ran out of the school, glancing at the sky where the victim was laughing maniacally. Running back in, against the outflow of frantic students, he darted into a toilet stall, hurrying the god to tell him the magic words.
I’m going to regret this, he thought as he uttered the words: “Plagg, claws out!”
He ran out into the open, catching the surprised and somewhat offended glare of a blonde. Anger flashed across his mind as it occurred to him that the certain blonde was Agreste- The abusive Chat who wouldn’t take no from the spotted lady. According to Plagg, even though the lady had told him multiple times, Chat kept insisting that they were soul mates even though they weren’t, and he even tried to force a soulmate bond in between them. He bit back a growl at the boy, but continued on his track to where he could already spot the lone red superhero fending off the akuma.
Pulling out the baton from his back, he slashed the akuma in the stomach, jumping over two rooftops as he did so, landing on his feet lightly. Ladybug didn’t spare him a second glance and continued to push the akuma back with swinging her yoyo back and forth, stopping the victim’s advance. He could see her eyes calculating the entire fight, and she was- Oh. She was eyeing the pouch on the victim- Which must be where the akuma was, Damian figured.
Jumping forward, he slashed at the belt holding the pouch, grabbing it as he darted away, an impressed glance shining from the bluebell eyes belonging to the superhero.
“Catch!” He yelled, tossing it to her as the akuma chased him angrily, watching with a questioning expression as she broke the object and caught the butterfly with her yoyo.
But before she could utter the magic words, the akuma swiped at his legs angrily, causing him to lose his balance as he cried out in pain, slipping down the roof as he began to fall towards the ground head-first.
“No!” He heard her scream just as a hand caught his left ankle- Right where his mark was. Even under the leather material, he could feel the colours bloom where she’d touched him. Grunting a little, she pulled him back up, purifying the akuma after she did so.
“You okay?” She asked, panting a little. He was quite impressed- He wasn’t light, but she still managed to drag him up from the roof edge all on her own. She wasn’t a girl to be messed with.
He was quiet for a bit, because after the initial shock faded, he suddenly realised OH she was his soulmate.
“Thanks.” He said quietly, contemplating on what to say next.
She shot him a friendly smile.
She didn’t know that they were soulmates yet. She would only realise when he touched her mark-
He panicked internally, because where was her mark? What if he touched the wrong part and missed her mark?
“Well, I’ll get going now. My transformation is almost over. I’ll meet you tonight for patrol?” She didn’t give him time to answer, and he supposed she was in quite a hurry as she was on her last spot on her earrings.
Tonight, then.
---
Plagg was feeling very triumphant.
“Ha! Would you look at that! She’s your soulmate!”
He rolled his eyes, swatting the god aside as he headed for his first class- Well, it wasn’t supposed to be his first class, but the actual first class had been taken up by akuma fighting time.
The teacher had shot him a friendly smile and asked him to introduce himself.
“I’m Damian Fu, nice to meet you.” They had agreed that he went as Fu’s adopted son.
“Marinette, as the class president, could you please take care of our new student?”
‘Marinette’ nodded and gave him a small smile as he headed to the empty seat next to her at the back of the class.
“Hey, did you hear about that new Cat that fought with Ladybug today?” He heard one of the students say. Glancing at the first row, he noticed that the blonde flinched upon the question.
“Yeah, I wonder what’s his name.” Another student added. Huh, he hadn’t thought of that yet.
“My name’s Marinette Dupain-Cheng.” The dark-haired girl introduced herself. “It’s nice to meet you, Damian.” She smiled sweetly.
“And you too.” He replied, already thinking about the night’s patrol.
---
“Plagg, claws out!”
Once he was on the rooftops, he realised there was a problem. Where would he find Ladybug? But it wouldn’t be that hard, right? She was running around in a red suit. Probably easy to spot.
But the thing he never thought of was that she was sensible and she was wearing a black jacket and black tights above her suit.
It took him more than an hour to find her. And when he did finally find her, she was resting at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
“I looked for you for an hour.” He panted.
“I waited for an hour.” She replied with a cocky smirk. “We’ll meet here everynight from now on?”
“Sure.” He panted, still trying to catch his breath.
“See you, then.” She smiled, already swinging off her yoyo to leave.
“W-Wait!”
He rushed towards her, touching the tip of one of her pigtails before it blossomed into a million colours. She swung off, because, well, physics- But he chuckled a little as she swung back, cheeks blushing and eyes shining.
“I- Wha- I thought I didn’t have a soulmate.” She gasped, forcing the words out. “And all this time-” She stopped herself, flushed. “Well, I suppose since we’re soulmates- I’m Marinette Dupain-Cheng.”
He was surprised, honestly. The class president?
“Damian Wayne.”

Chapter 9: Fallout of nightmares
Chapter titles are hard to come up with sometimes. Come read on AO3!
**********
Ronan hated the feeling of being frozen. He hated laying there in fear, watching the night horror moving for his throat. He struggled to fight, to defend himself, to not be helpless - but it was in vain. This may be the end for him, today. One bad dream where the old guilt resurfaced, bringing the night horrors in waves. Here, off the leyline, more drunk than he really ought to be, it was harder to control what he brought back with him.
The night horror dragged a claw down his face.
Suddenly, Sargent sprang to life beside him. He'd forgotten she was there. He'd griped about having her in the bed with him but in that moment he could have kissed her, girl or not. She kicked with both feet, knocking the thing off the bed. With a cry she jumped after it and drove a knife into its chest, kicking it in the gut for good measure. It collapsed. She approached it, raising the knife one more time, The door opened to reveal the two shady boys. Ronan didn't trust a single person from this whole fucking team, but these two were the worst. Sargent drove her knife into the eye of the beast, but Ronan couldn't relax with the midget's eyes on him.
He knew this could end in only a few ways, and he wasn't happy about any of them.
**********
Renee was just about to go back to sleep when her phone started to ring. She'd been awake for several hours in the night, bad memories stealing away her precious sleep, but she'd been listening to Allison breathing beside her and it had brought some calm back to her soul. Of course she would be getting a phone call now, and from Andrew no less. She gently reached past Allison and hit the silence button before her Andrew-specific heavy metal ringtone could wake her up. "Hello, Andrew. It's early."
"I need to talk to Natalie."
Shit. Renee eased out of the bed and went into the kitchen. "What happened."
"Where in Columbia would you hide a body?"
Natalie hummed. "Lake Murray, probably. It's got 500 miles of coastline so there's bound to be a few nooks and crannies that could work."
Andrew hummed. "How do we get blood out of the carpet?"
"Andrew, did you kill someone?"
"Nicky had it coming," he deadpanned. "Actually, Sargent here produced the body."
"Who was it?"
"You'll have to ask her yourself. How do we get blood out of the carpet?"
Renee sighed. "Okay, he'es where you start..."
**********
Blue tried to wipe up the blood as best as she could while Andrew talked on the phone. He seemed to be doing a lot of listening. She wasn't sure who this Natalie was, but hopefully she'd be able to help them out. And keep her mouth shut.
Neil had, surprisingly, been fairly useless. "What do you mean, you don't know how to dispose of a body? Wasn't your father a serial killer?"
"That was Lola's job - his favorite," he explained. "I was too young to help out with cleanup before we were on the run. Plus, I think she preferred acid. Where would we even buy that?"
Ronan wasn't helpful either. "Either I bury them in the field or I make Declan deal with it," he snarled. "I never fucking leave home, maggot. How should I have expected this?"
Andrew stomped back at that moment, having hung up the phone without a word. "You two have a lot of explaining to do. But first, we're taking this thing to Lake Murray."
Neil nodded. "And the others?"
Blue shuddered before Ronan spat, "Nobody else gets to know. It's bad enough with you two." Blue nodded in fierce agreement.
She watched as Andrew and Neil looked at each other for a minute, silently conversing, before Andrew sighed. "Nicky can drive the others home."
"I'll tell him Ronan barfed in his room and that we will clean it up before coming home." When Ronan spluttered, he added, "It's the only way I can think of to keep him out of the room long enough. Got a better idea?"
"We could throw him in the lake, too," Ronan muttered, drawing a laugh from Neil and a minute twitch of the lips from Andrew.
"Tempting," was all Andrew said before he turned and left the room. Blue noticed that Neil was watching him go.
Neil produced a long knife and started grinning in a very unsettling way. "This thing will be easier to move in smaller pieces," he said. "You two go clean up." Blue and Ronan left him there, knife spinning, a serial-killer grin splitting his face.
They headed to the bathroom. Blue shoved Ronan in first, then locked the door behind them. "Why the absolute fuck did you invite yourself?" she demanded. "I had this in hand. All I had to do was answer a few questions and not be suspicious and now here we are, night horror dead in the other room and suspicious as fuck."
Ronan glared at her. "I don't fucking trust them," he growled. "Matt told me some things about what they've done in Columbia. They drug people. Matt was an addict. They sent him into relapse and you were stupid enough to go with them? By yourself?"
Blue softened. "I don't trust them, but I didn't know those things. Thanks for looking out for me." She gave him a quick hug.
"Get off me maggot." He pushed her away. "Go get me some clothes, now I have to wash your foul stench off of me." She laughed and ducked out of the room in search of their stuff.
**********
Ronan finally started to relax as they drove to this Lake Murray place. They were following the GPS on the phone he'd dreamed up for Blue on her last birthday, as none of them had actually been there before. He always felt powerful behind the wheel of a car. The speed, the control, the impending danger: they were soothing.
He looked over at Sargent, curled up in the front seat next to him. She was shaking. He groaned a bit; she had seen worse than this. He turned on his music and "SQUASH ONE, SQUASH TWO" started to ring through the car. She groaned and reached for the power button just as they both heard a "the fuck is this?" from the backseat. Ronan batted away her hand with a grin and turned the song up even louder. He knew it was only a matter of time before he had to spill his secrets, so he may as well start getting his revenge proactively.
**********
Blue hated this.
They were standing in the sand at the edge of the lake, crowds swirling around them. The lake was a popular place on Saturday in late June, which meant that they looked like just another group of college students with their backpacks. Never mind that their backpacks contained pieces of night horror.
Neil stared out toward the center of the lake, eyes almost unseeing, breathing hard. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and tried to light one, but his hands were shaking too hard. Andrew reached out and put a hand on the back of his neck, pulling him down slightly. "You are Neil Josten," he said softly. "You are a Fox. She is dead."
"I am a Fox," Neil replied, leaning into Andrew. Blue looked away, terribly lonely for Gansey in that moment. It was too much. She was already falling apart, already on edge from killing a living creature - even a night horror - and the fear and adrenaline of possibly losing one of her Raven boys again, and then, seeing Andrew and Neil together in that moment, she wished she had Gansey beside her.
Ronan elbowed her. "No time for tears, maggot. We've got a body to dump." Blue wiped her eyes as best as she could and took a few deep breaths. It would have to do. Once all of them were composed, they started to walk down the beach. Soon enough they came on a dock with a boat rental booth. After talking to the owner, they learned that they could, in fact, rent a speedboat for a few hours, but they needed to be at least 23 to do it.
"That's alright," Ronan said, slapping an ID down on the counter. "As you can see here, I am 25." The cashier raised an eyebrow and clearly didn't believe it, but shrugged and pulled out the paperwork. Soon they were throwing their bags into a slightly beat up speedboat.
"So why do you have a fake ID that says you're 25?" Blue asked.
"One of Kavinsky's pranks."
They hopped in the boat and Blue drove it out. She definitely didn't trust any of these boys to drive, and with how often she had watched Orla do it she felt fairly confident. They poked around a few inlets for an hour before they decided to just dump them into a distant, quiet part of the lake. Dream objects were heavy. The night horror would sink.
Andrew finally dropped the question as they headed back to the docks. "So what was that thing?" Rather than respond, Blue hit the gas, speeding up until it was much too loud and bumpy to hold any kind of conversation. Ronan laughed and tried to fist bump her, but they hit a wave and he cursed as he reached for the nearest handhold. Blue laughed. Andrew was glaring at her and Neil was looking kind of green, but Ronan looked the happiest he'd been all day, wind in his face.
Eventually they got back to the dock and returned the keys to the boat. They climbed back into the car and Ronan paused for a moment.
"That was a night horror. I pulled it from my dreams."
There was a long silence in the backseat. "So magic is real, then?" Neil asked.
"Yes," Blue replied, "but not like, wizard magic. Psychics, tarot cards, leylines, those sort of things. Those are real magic."
"And dreams."
"And dreams, yes."
"Are the dreams always this dangerous?" Andrew asked.
Ronan growled under his breath. Blue forestalled the venom she knew he'd spit out. "Night horrors, like those things, are rare these days. Usually he brings cool things back. Magic things. Things that shouldn't work, but do."
"And the occasional annoying bird," Ronan said almost fondly. He'd left Chainsaw at the house, not trusting her to not attack Andrew and Neil in the backseat.
Andrew seemed satisfied, but Neil continued to ask questions as Ronan started the car and headed back to the house. "Are any of the rest of you magic?"
Ronan laughed wickedly. "I'm the only living dreamer I know."
"That wasn't my question." Shit, he's clever, Blue thought.
At that moment all four of their phones went off simultaneously. Ronan never answered his phone, Blue didn't recognize the number, and Neil only laughed when he saw who was calling him, so it was Andrew who answered. He listened for a few seconds, gave a terse "they're alive," and hung up before turning his phone off. Blue's phone started to ring again.
"It's probably someone from the team," Neil said. "Renee called Andrew and Matt tried to call me. You should probably answer. Five bucks that they ask if we tried to murder you."
"I'll take you on that," Blue replied. "Hello?"
"Oh, thank god," Dan said. "Are y'all alright? They didn't kidnap you or anything?"
Blue laughed. "We kidnapped them, actually." Neil laughed.
"Where are you guys? The other monsters got home ages ago."
"Don't call them monsters," Blue snapped.
"But-"
"Don't." Neil gave her an appreciative nod.
Dan sighed. "Fine. Where are you guys at?"
"Almost back to their house. We need to grab our stuff and then we will be right back. Should be about an hour and a half, right?" she directed to the backseat.
"Around that, yes," Neil replied.
"Then we will expect you around then." Blue hung up the phone.
"Speaking of teammates," Blue said, "was anyone going to inform me that Columbia with y'all had potential to be hazardous to my health?
Neil snorted. "You two are the most dangerous thing that's ever happened on a trip to Eden's," he said with a grin.
Ronan cackled. "Damn straight."

Waddup I wanna fuel your harringrove addition w a prompt. Can you do No. 9 the "I've seen you in my dreams" but have it be a nightmare and the one having the nightmares always thought the other was the evil behind his dreams, but then he discovers hes meant to help stop the nightmares.? Idk if that made sense but I'll love anything you write. 🤗
OMG OMG IM EXCITED.
9. “I’ve been dreaming of you, every day, for as long as I can remember.”
Dream of Me
Billy was still dreaming. He knew he was. He looked down at his hands to see he was missing a finger on one hand, as if he never had one to begin with. As disconcerting as it was, he was able to breathe a sigh of relief. Knowing he was dreaming made his spine relax just enough for him to find his nerve.
He stepped through the threshold of his bedroom door, eyes shifting down the dark hallway. The silence made his hair stand on end, forcing him to swallow so hard over the lump in his throat. He just had to make it outside, to the light of day, to freedom. Maybe he would this time.
His thoughts were interrupted by a force, slamming against his right cheekbone, throwing him off balance and landing on his ass inside the bedroom.
“Where the fuck you think you’re going, boy?” Billy cradled his face, eyes already stinging out of instinct. He pressed them shut tight, doing his best to force his subconscious to just cut him a fucking break. He was tired of this dream, this fucking nightmare. He was tired of the same song and dance he dealt with every time he closed his eyes.
As always, Neil stood over him, eyes red and piercing into him. Billy could almost feel how sharp the words rolling off his tongue were.
“Always knew you were a faggot, William.” A hot glob of spit hit Billy’s face, causing him to flinch hard. “You never could do one fucking thing right.”
Another fist landed, this time against his left eye socket, making him think his eye may actually pop out of his skull. The blow had him laying on his back, stars swirling around his vision. His head lulled to the side, blood rolling down his upper lip, when he caught sight of it.
It was always just there. Mocking him. The wooden bat, bare handle, a slew of nails coming out of the end covered in some kind of dried blood. It was always there, had always been there. It perched under his bed, just out of his reach. He wanted to grab it. Wanted to swing it on Neil and end this fucking dream, but he never could. His hands were too heavy in this place. It didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try.
The blows kept coming, one after another after another, until he was lying back and just taking them. He could hear his heartbeat in his ears. In his real life, Neil had never beat him quite this badly, never wanting the bruises to be too obvious. But in this dream, he didn't intend to let Billy leave; intended to end him one punch at a time.
Billy’s arms finally started to move, reaching for the bat. His fingers came within centimeters of the wood.
Billy’s eyes popped open, chest rising and falling like it did every morning. He shrugged off the feeling, same as always. Although his heart rate was elevated, the adrenaline was wearing off fast. He was used to the dreams now. Since he was a boy, the nightmares about Neil finding out he was gay haunted him.
Billy was very good at hiding it in his daily life, always keeping a girl around, bringing her to dinner sometimes. The facade was believable to everyone around him, and he took pride in that. Steve didn’t even mind his flashy behavior, knowing full well that Billy was his and always would be.
Their relationship was so easy, and Steve was so understanding of his fears. They didn’t even speak outside of their private, intimate moments, keeping the illusion alive. He really couldn't have asked for anyone better to love him, so he cherished Steve in every way he knew how.
Billy pulled himself out of bed, sweat still clinging to the back of his neck. He pulled on his clothes in the dim light of his bedroom, readying himself for the day. Slinging his backpack over his shoulder, he made his way out into the hall, moving to Max’s door and giving a short rap on it.
Voice hushed, he asked, “Max, you ready?” He could hear shuffling on the other side.
“Yeah, just putting my shoes on.”
The ride to the schools were mostly silent, no music pumping through the speakers. Billy’s left arm was hanging out of the window nonchalantly, cigarette balancing between two fingers. He was slumped down in the seat, lazily trailing through back roads.
“Did you have another nightmare?” Billy rolled his eyes behind his sunglasses, sighing.
“How’d you know?” She chewed on her lower lip, side-eyeing him.
“I heard you talking. Sounded like you were crying.” He flicked his cigarette and rolled his window up, sitting up straighter.
“Is what it is.” She turned her head to look at him now. Her voice was small, so quiet.
“Are you going to Steve’s today?” His head whipped around to look straight at her, neck cracking in response. The look on his face made her shrink down in her seat.
“What?” Her expression hardened, in no mood for his attitude apparently.
“Fucking please, Billy. Don’t act like I don’t know about you two.” He was genuinely confused. He had kept his secret so well, he thought.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” He was working hard to keep his voice aggressive, but he was faltering, fear seeping into his soul. She scoffed and sat back, looking out the windshield.
“Whatever, play dumb. I don’t care. I just need to know if you’re picking me up or if I need to cover for your ass. Again.” His jaw was hanging, his head briefly checking the road. His mind was soaring, a burning sensation crawling from the base of his skull down to his tailbone.
“How do you know?” She smirked and rolled her eyes.
“Billy, you’re sneaky, but you’re not that sneaky.” She looked down and began picking at her fingers. “Neil has no idea.”
Billy let out a long exhale he didn’t realize he was holding. The air in his lungs felt like nails going down.
“Better fucking not find out either.”
“I’m not going to tell.” He scowled out the windshield.
“In exchange for what?” Her eyebrows lifted, shocked at the question. She shook her head.
“I don’t want anything Billy.” He rolled his head toward her, disbelieving. “Man, I’ve known for months. I haven’t told anyone yet, why would I start blackmailing you now?” He pursed his lips, considering.
All the nights he had fallen asleep at Steve’s and not realized until daybreak. Every time he skipped school to go to the quarry with him, forgetting to pick her up from school. She covered, every time, and they never talked about why.
“Thanks, shitbird.” She smiled.
“Whatever.”
The car went quiet again, almost to Hawkins Middle School, where they would part ways. When he pulled into the parking space, she didn’t immediately get out, hand resting on the door.
“Hey, Billy?” He didn’t respond, just jerked his head to acknowledge her. “You should tell Steve about the nightmares. He can probably help.” He pulled off his sunglasses, eyes glaring at her. She threw her hands up defensively, not saying another word and exiting the vehicle. He watched her bounce up the sidewalk toward the Party, joining them easily.
Steve’s lips were hot against Billy’s, slow kisses smothering him in the best way. His body molded under the brunette, hand slowly brushing through his hair. They both laid on the bed, only boxers on, making out in a lazy way until they were breathless. The darkness of night had fallen over Hawkins, leaving Billy and Steve alone for the night.
It was a Friday night, which meant Billy would be calling home shortly, to let them know he wouldn’t be home until the next day. Maybe. If Steve would ever let him leave. His eyes were closed, breathing in Steve’s air, other hand pulling at his leg to hook his thigh over his own hip.
Steve pulled back first, looking at Billy with a sort of warmth in his eyes. His smile was tired.
“Again? We just finished.” Billy returned it with a devilish grin, all teeth.
“Never enough of you, pretty boy.” Steve chuckled and leaned back, away from Billy.
“I’m tired.” Steve was being whiny, and it made Billy only want him that much more.
“That sucks. Cause I’m not done with you.” Steve curled up, snuggling his face into Billy’s neck. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around Steve, pulling his as close as he could.
“Let me just have, like, ten minutes.” Billy’s body shook with silent laughter.
“Goodnight Princess.” He held Steve there, feeling his breathing even out. He knew he would wake up around two, as he usually did, and beg Billy to cook him some eggs or macaroni and cheese. This was their routine. Billy didn’t mean to fall asleep, but Steve was so warm. So familiar. It didn’t take long before his eyes were fluttering closed.
The room was completely black, no walls or floor, no doors, nothing. All that was around was the usual inch of water on the floor like there always was. He turned his head from side to side, trying to make out where he was. He looked down at his hands, all ten fingers firmly in place. This confused him. He had to be dreaming if he was in this place?
Then he heard it, the roaring voice of his Dad echoing through nothingness. The problem was, he couldn’t see him. He spun around anxiously, an entirely new wave of horror washing over him.
“Billy-boy.” His dad’s voice sang. His eyes were blown out, straining to see in the darkness.
“Dad?” But then he was on the ground, nose bleeding. his hand came up to touch it, shying away at the searing pain and crunch of the cartilage. His head began pounding.
Billy tried to lift himself up before a sharp pin hit his ribs, knocking the air from his lungs. He gasped, trying to hold his side.
“You think you can hide from me, son?” Another kick from a foot that wasn’t there. “You’re such a fucking pussy, William.” Kick. “And you don’t fucking deserve this life I’ve given you.” Kick. “So you don’t get to run.” Kick.
Billy was struggling to breathe, choking and spitting. He still couldn’t see anything. He glanced around frantically, looking for the bat. Where was it? It was always there. But this time it wasn’t. He was alone, he was all alone.
He heard another voice, which sounded like it was at least one hundred yards away.
“Billy?” It was Steve. He was coming. And Neil would kill him. Neil would kill them both.
“Steve!” He screamed, his voice hoarse. “Don’t!” He felt a hand wrap around his throat, pinning him to the wet floor. He squirmed, clawing at nothingness over him, gasping as hard as he could.
“Billy!” Steve was getting closer, and Billy was stuck. He kicked his legs and shook his body in an attempt to free himself, but failed.
“Billy, wake up!”
His body shot up, hands flailing in front of him, making contact with skin. He looked over, seeing Steve’s hands still trying to steady him.
“Billy! It’s okay! You were having a bad dream.” Steve looked absolutely wrecked, hair a mess and staring wildly at Billy, absolutely terrified. It took him a moment to right himself, realizing he was fine. His nose wasn’t broken, he wasn’t choking, and Steve was safe.
Billy tucked his knees up, burying his face in his arms and sobbing. It was too real. It didn’t feel like a dream. Steve’s arms wrapped around him, shushing in his ear.
“S’okay babe. I’m here.” Billy felt like he couldn’t breathe. “What were you dreaming about?”
Billy took a minute to steady his breathing, lifting his head to look at Steve.
“I don’t know. It wasn’t like my other dreams.” He had never told Steve about his nightmares, never having any while in the safety of the Harrington house before. The thought infuriated him. He didn’t have nightmares with Steve. Steve was his safe place.
“What made it different?” Billy was scowling at the comforter, the anger burning hot in his veins.
“The bat. I didn’t have the stupid fucking bat.” Steve raised an eyebrow in apprehension?
“A bat? Like, the animal?” Billy snorted, shaking his head.
“No, a baseball bat.” He wiped his face and shrugged. “It’s always there. I can never grab the fucking thing, but it helps me remember I’m dreaming.” Steve nodded, understanding.
“So, you didn’t know you were dreaming?”
“I kind of figured, but it felt so real.” Steve gave him a small smile.
“I’m sorry, Billy. But hey,” Steve leaned back on the bed, arm reaching down toward the floor. “you can borrow mine if you want. It's pretty deadly.”
His hand came up, and Billy went white. There was a long handled bat in his hands, old and darkened with something that looked like blood. On the head of the bat, at least ten nails stuck out, bent and rusted. His heart fell about twenty stories.
The bat was identical to the one from his dreams, and something inside of Billy told him it was the bat from his dreams. It was always there, untouchable. He felt like he may fall over, the stunning realization knocking him completely off kilter.
The look on Billy’s face and him failing to respond sent Steve into a flurry of explanation, ears turning pink. “I’m sorry, I know it’s a bit much for home protection. But, I mean, you never know when shit’s going to go do-“
“Where did you get that?” His eyes were still bugging out, fixed on the wood in Steve’s hands.
“Oh,” Steve lifted it gently, offering it to Billy. “It was Nancy’s. I guess I kind of stole it from her about a year ago.” Billy picked it up, examining every splinter and nail.
“Why?” He looked up at Steve from under his lashes. “Why do you have it?” Steve chewed on his lip.
“It’s a really long story.” He scratched the back of his head. Billy couldn’t help but crack a smile, moving the bat back to the floor behind Steve.
His arms gently pulled around his boyfriend, pulling him close. His eyes welled with tears again, struggling to hold himself together.
The realization was dawning on him. When he was dreaming, Steve was there. When he was hurting, bleeding, dying, Steve was there. He had always been. Before they met, when Billy was a boy, Steve was there. Protecting him. Reminding him, there’s a way out. There’s a solution just out of reach, and still safe. Steve was his protection. His safe space.
“Billy? What’s wrong?” Steve pulled back to look at him. Billy couldn’t help but break out into a cackle, shaking his head.
“Harrington, you son of a bitch.” Steve’s eyebrows raised, a pout playing on his lips.
“The fuck?” Billy sat back on his ass, laughter turning hysterical.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it’s just so fucking nuts!” Steve clearly wasn’t following. His face told Billy he was confused, and slightly off-put somehow. It made Billy sober enough to look at him with a fond smile.
“Steve,” He looked up at the ceiling, still forcing his laughter down. “You’re probably not going to believe me.”
Growing impatient, Steve snapped. “What the fuck won’t I believe, Billy?” It made Billy stop laughing and realize he needed to explain himself. He cleared his throat and looked right at Steve, working to form the words. He felt embarrassment, but he pushed passed it.
Billy finally looked directly at Steve.
“Harrington, I’ve been dreaming of you, every day, for as long as I can remember.” Steve’s eyes were hyper-focused on Billy, staring in disbelief. This was what Billy needed to say?
“Come again?” Billy shrugged and turned his entire body to the brunette.
“Look,”
He began explaining his nightmares. All of them. From when he was ten and realized he was gay, to the night before when he was home in bed. He explained that they always had the same plot line; his Dad found out he was gay and was going to beat him to death for it. That he wanted to fight back, and there was the bat.
He told Steve that the bat had always been there, looking the same as Steve’s, perched somewhere only a fraction of an inch out of his reach. How he was always so close to reaching it before he woke up.
Billy told Steve that he was certain that was why he always woke up. It was Steve who was waking him up. Steve who was watching over him, never letting his Dad take it too far. He told Steve he understood now that the bat wasn’t there to mock him, but to save him and end the dream.
Steve’s expression was crumbling, flashing between confusion and understanding.
“So...now you know l, I guess.”
And then Steve was laughing, completely out of control. He fell onto his side on the bed and his laugh echoed through the room.
“That’s…” He was struggling to speak between breaths. “So…” He had tears from laughing so hard. “Fucking…” Billy was getting a little offended. “Crazy!”
A strike of something that resembled rejection and shame hit Billy all at once. Steve called him crazy, and that’s just fucked up. He slapped the skin on Steve’s shoulder hard.
“Fuck off! I’m not crazy!” Steve waved a hand at him, still chuckling.
“You’re not crazy. The fact that you’ve been dreaming about my fucking baseball bat is crazy.” He sat up on his elbow and smiled up at Billy. “This last year has been the most psychotic, fucking mental year of my life, and what you just said? It’s crazy. But I’ve definitely heard crazier. You don’t even know the half of it.” Billy quirked a small smile.
“I don’t?” Steve shook his head, coughing out the rest of his giggles.
“It’s a long story.” Steve was smirking, eyeing Billy. “I could tell you,” He let his voice fall low. “over some eggs.”

Maka
Pain bursts through my ribcage as I’m thrown to the side, Soul’s weapon form slipping out of my hand. I see him transform out of the corner of my eye as I fall.
“Maka!” His voice sounds like it’s being ripped from his throat, and I hear him scrambling toward me.
God, I can’t move. I need to get up. We’re so close to defeating that damn witch.
“Maka,” Soul repeats desperately. “Shit. Shit! You’re hurt!”
“I’m okay,” I cough, his frown deepening at my lie. “Help me up.”
He grabs my hand, sliding an arm around my shoulders, but I gasp at the slightest movement, fire searing my lungs.
“Maka!”
“I think my ribs are broken,” I hiss.
He glances over his shoulder, and I know he’s checking for the witch. We’ve been tracking her down for weeks. This is the second time we’ve faced her, but since she disappeared within seconds the first time, we haven’t truly fought her until now.
“She’s weak,” I tell him. “If we use Genie Hunter, we can take her.”
“Genie Hunter? Maka, are you freaking serious?” Soul glares at me. “You can’t even stand. We won’t be able to use Witch Hunter on her, much less Genie Hunter.”
“I can stand,” I snap defiantly. “Just get me on my feet.”
He glowers at me, and I know it’s because watching me in pain is killing him. I know because it’s the same feeling I feel when he’s hurt.
He starts to lift me again, and I clench my teeth, swallowing the groan of agony threatening to tear out of my chest. I cling to him for longer than I want to. I need his strength to keep me upright.
“Maka?”
“I’m okay.”
“You know…” he murmurs in a low voice. “We don’t have to do this.”
“What?” I blink at him.
“I just mean…we’ve tracked her this far. We can find her again.”
“Shut up.” I glare at him. “We’re finishing this today. Right now. You’re gonna eat her stupid soul and become a death scythe. The end.”
“Maka…”
“Don’t argue with me, Soul.”
I move away from him and tug at my gloves, taking quick, shallow breaths to keep my ribs from blinding me with pain.
“If she hurts you again, I’m getting you out of here.”
“What!” I whirl around to face him, throwing a hand out when black spots start appearing in front of me.
“See!” he rumbles, reaching out to steady me. “I’m right. You’re not okay!”
His hands move up to cup my face, and I suddenly want to cry.
“Please, Maka. Let me take you away from here until we can–”
“I can do this!” I cut him off, jerking my head to the side. “I was in way worse shape when I defeated Asura,” I remind him. “This is nothing.”
“Don’t remind me,” he snarls, and I wince.
There’s no casually mentioning what we went through back then—not when one or both of us wake up screaming almost every night. After the first week, we realized it was pointless to go to sleep in separate rooms since I’d either be crawling into his bed or he’d be falling into mine within a few hours.
“I’m sorry,” I whisper.
“And don’t shrug this off,” he continues. “I’m your weapon; you’re my meister. I’m supposed to protect you.”
“Then do it,” I challenge, grabbing his hand. “Help me defeat this witch once and for all, so we can go home!”
He looks down at our fingers, and sighs.
“Fine. If you’re sure you can–”
“Just transform already!”
He rolls his stupidly pretty eyes at me before his weapon form slides familiarly into my hand.
“Oh, have you two decided to keep playing?” I frown, whirling to face the taunting voice.
The witch. She’s sitting sideways on a broom, casually circling us fifty feet in the air.
“You ready?” I yell more loudly than I need to, my adrenaline building.
“Yeah.”
“Okay,” I take a fast breath. “Let’s go! Soul resonance!”
I feel our soul wavelengths connect, my heart pounding as his power meshes with mine, flowing between us. Faintly, I hear Soul playing the piano, the vibrations of the jarring music magnifying our connection.
“Genie Hunter!”
I tighten my grip as Soul transforms, adjusting my stance and taking a deep breath.
I can do this. I’m strong. I’m ready.
The witch’s sudden laughter catches me off guard.
“That’s so cute,” she taunts. “Pulling out your best moves on little old me? I’m flattered.” She tosses her hair over her shoulder as her broom slows to a stop. “Oh, did you think you had the element of surprise? That’s too bad.”
“Just because you know what moves I have doesn’t mean you’ll be able to stop me!”
“I rather think it does,” she sings.
“I will defeat you!” I shout, fire blazing through me.
“We’ll see,” she smirks. “Go ahead and give it your best shot.”
I growl as I start toward her, red tinting the edge of my vision.
“Control it, Maka,” Soul warns in a low voice. “She’s playing games.”
“Well, I’m not here to play,” I snap. “I’m here to feed you her fucking soul!”
I run at the stationary witch, building momentum to swing my scythe with as much force as I can. There’s a flash to my right, and I shift my eyes for a second.
Suddenly, the air changes, and I’m surrounded by a thick purple fog. I can’t breathe. No. I can’t move. My vision blurs, and I gasp for air. I’m frozen, mid-step, my arms raised to strike. I struggle to find the witch in the haze, but it’s impossible.
“Maka, what’s going on? What is this?” Soul’s voice says in my head, his piano playing faltering for a second.
I feel our souls’ connection waver, and I try to hold him tighter in my hands.
“He’s going to leave you.”
The witch’s voice suddenly hisses loudly in my head, her words echoing through the surrounding fog.
“Stop it!” I gasp, fighting to move again.
“You’re too weak to be his meister.”
“Shut up!”
“Maka, what’s wrong?” Soul pipes up again, his voice barely audible over the ringing left behind by the witch.
“Can’t you hear her?” I choke.
The muscles in my arms are starting to burn. I’ve never held Genie Hunter for this long. I don’t know how much more I can last.
“Hear the witch? What is she saying?”
“Of course, he’ll leave you. He is a man after all.”
A growl rises in my throat.
“He probably already has another girl in mind.”
“That’s enough!” I scream as I force my feet to move.
Pain tears through me like knives as I take a single step. The fog lifts suddenly, and I can see the witch clearly to my right. My legs ache, and I stumble. My grip slips, and Soul dips, pulling me down. I catch my balance and stand up tall, breathing heavily.
“I’m going to end you,” I promise the smiling bitch on the broom.
“Maka, we can’t hold out much longer,” Soul reminds me. “We need to do this fast.”
I nod and start for her again, but…I’m in so much pain. I can’t move fast enough. I’m going to fall!
I throw my weight forward, swinging the weapon in my hand with everything I have. I hear it slice through the air, and then…nothing. Our connection is broken, and we have no witch’s soul.
We failed.
I lose my grip, and Soul clatters to the ground as I land on my knees in the dirt.
“I’m sorry, Soul,” I whisper.
He starts to transform, when a boot lands on top of his blade. I jerk and glare up at the witch standing over us, but I’m spent.
“Not so fast,” she says, putting pressure on Soul, keeping him down.
“Let him go!”
“Shh,” she taunts, bending down, her hand reaching out to grab my chin, forcing my eyes to hers. “You put in a good effort,” she says softly. “Not many can get as close as you did. You can be proud of that.”
“Maka!” Soul grunts. “Leave her alone!”
“Today just isn’t your day,” she murmurs with mock sympathy. Or maybe it’s real, but either way it doesn’t matter. “Get some rest. Maybe one day we’ll meet again.”
She stands and starts to move away, turning her back. I fall forward on one hand, which I carefully position right next to Soul’s handle while keeping her in my line of sight. The second she steps off of Soul, he moves to me, and I spin to the side, throwing my body onto the ground.
My eyes are closed, but I hear the familiar sound of Soul slicing through flesh.
“N-no,” the witch gasps, her voice garbled. “This…this c-can’t be.”
I squint in her direction, barely making out her crumpling form as she sinks to the ground a few feet away.
Her soul floats up, and I watch as Soul transforms and reaches for it.
“I’ll take that,” he grins, glancing at me.
He brings it to his lips, and I feel panic flood my chest. What if she was right? What if he leaves me after he becomes a death scythe? What if—
“Soul, wait!” I struggle to sit up.
His head jerks toward me, his lips practically touching the glowing soul.
“Why?” he frowns. “She’s definitely a witch this time. We checked. What’s the problem?”
“I…I… I don’t want you to leave me!”
“Leave you? Why the hell would I leave you?” He gives me a bewildered look.
“B-because…”
My adrenaline must be fading because suddenly my entire body is blasted with pain. I can’t stop the moan from slipping out as I curl into myself.
“Shit!” Soul scrambles to my side, never letting go of the witch’s soul. “Maka?”
“You won’t need me,” I gasp. “After you eat that.”
“I won’t—Are you serious? Maka, you’re my meister. The only meister I want. Do you really think I’d be able to pull off Genie Hunter with anyone else but you?”
“W-well…”
“Lord Death doesn’t count,” he adds quickly.
“The witch…she said…” I hiss in pain, and his arm curls around me.
“Maka, I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.”
Oh, God. I’m gonna cry. I don’t know if it’s the immense physical pain I’m in or what he’s saying, but…I can’t stop it.
“Just eat your damn soul already,” I choke, as the first tears leak out.
He blinks, and I see him shake his head before lifting the glowing orb to his lips and swallowing it whole. He freezes for a second, and I watch to see if he goes through some kind of magical transformation, but after a few seconds, he just reaches for me, and pulls me into his arms.
“That’s it?” I gasp.
“I feel different,” he assures me as he stands, carrying me toward the road. “But I can worry about that after I get you to a hospital.”
“It doesn’t hurt that much,” I murmur even as my entire body starts trembling.
“You’re such a liar.”
“Shut up.”
“Seriously, you look like a torn-apart rag doll,” he goes on. “If your dad sees you like this, he’ll probably kill me before I ever get to try out my new abilities.”
“Don’t even mention him,” I snap before I sigh. “That reminds me. I need to update Lord Death.”
“I’ll do it after I get you taken care of. Just try to relax, okay?”
“Yeah…” I shiver, snuggling closer to his chest. “Thank you, Soul.”
“Don’t mention it.”
I shut my eyes, trying not to feel my body, focusing on Soul’s heartbeat instead. I don’t know how I ever doubted him. Soul is always there for me, which is how I know it’s okay to fall asleep in his arms.
He’ll take care of me, he always does.
He’s my soulmate.

I don’t know if you’ve answered this or not, but what do you think are Brian and Roger’s kinks??
Oh HENNY lets GO! No read more bc I’m on mobile AYEEEEE.
Nasty under this fine ass pic of Mr. Taylor
Tumblr media
So imma start with our fave little blonde bitch.
Roger Meddows Taylor is a SUB and I will not take any criticism, he is, just accept it in your hearts and souls.
Back in the day he might’ve been a TINY bit of a switch? But like TODAY, nahhhh Rog wants to be dommed 25/8
And not like softly dommed, nah, baby boy wants to be R U I N E D
I also feel like he might have a daddy kink but in a kind of mocking and degrading way? Like
“Oh honey does my cock feel good inside of you??? Is my cock stretching you out nice and wide daddy?”
And he is just face first in the mattress, his ass getting DESTROYED by a strap, and all he can do is whimper bc it’s so hot when you call him daddy but you’re just mocking him, bc if anyone is daddy in this relationship?
It’s you.
Is spoiling you a kink? Like not SD but just like
This man will bring you home presents and clothes and jewelry and books and just about ANYTHING that reminds him of you
Like you could GLANCE at something in a store for a fraction of a second and before you can turn around, it’s already purchased and in a bag
You try to admonish him for it bc you’re just like, not used to being treated like that at ALL.
But he refuses to stop, and just keeps buying you more and more things, and soon enough you just give in and accept it, accept that he LOVES doing this for you because he LOVES you...
And also he really fucking likes it when you smile, and boy do you smile when he buys you sentimental shit.
Bc it shows that he LISTENS and he CARES
He definitely also has a praise kink, but it’s the opposite of what you’d think.
Instead of you giving him praise, he wants to give YOU praise and tell YOU how good you’re doing.
That shit gets him off in a Mississippi minute because he knows how much YOU love knowing how much he enjoys what you’re doing to him.
Home boy also definitely L O V E S to be tied up with a vibrating prostate stimulator in his ass and fleshlight on his cock, remote controlled of course.
He loves it when you’re in the next room completely ignoring him, watching TV, scrolling through IG, drinking tea, and he’s just in the bedroom leaking writhing in pleasure that’s dangerously close to pain.
Which leads me into my next point
Roger is so into edging and orgasm denial it’s not even F U N N Y
He would NEVER refuse to give you one, that’s his only goal in everyday life, to make YOU feel good.
But him? Ohhh boy, one time you edged him for a week straight, putting a little chastity lock on his cock, only taking it off to play with him and stimulate him to near orgasm before you lock him back up.
He’d never cum so hard when you finally allowed him to.
Tumblr media
Now for our favorite little space grandpa
Brian May is without a doubt, a sub
But unlike Roger who prefers it to be rough, fast, and intense...
Brian would rather be softy dommed
Butterfly kisses as you fuck him in missionary, your strap so far in his ass you’re worried you’ll hurt him, but he only grabs YOUR ass and pushes you in further.
He NEEDS validation and affection, he has to KNOW that he’s doing a good job, that he’s making you happy.
And because of this, 9/10 times you have sex, he’ll start and end the session between your legs, cleaning up the mess you’d both made, and usually sending you into another orgasm.
He refuses to go to sleep at night unless you’re satisfied.
Brian is also definitely a bit of an exhibitionist.
Like maybe not full blown fucking in a public park at noon, but nothing on this EARTH gets him off quicker than you jacking him off under the table at dinner
Or sucking him off while he drives through rush hour traffic, knowing that anyone could walk by and see his cock down your throat.
2 words
Breeding kink
Brian SO HAS ONE.
Like maybe when he met you, he never thought he would have kids again, was legit just DONE, bc??? He kind of didn’t have a WAY to have any?
But once he meets you, so young and full of life, he’s like... oh yeah buddy imma fuck a baby into her
And it doesn’t take long for it to come to light that that’s what he wants, he lets it slip one of the rare nights when he’s in charge.
He’s just pounding into you, his mouth hot on your neck, his cock reaching places you never thought possible, your legs behind his shoulders...
“F-fuck—Y/N! W-wanna pump y-you so full, wanna g-give you my cum u-until you’re a-swollen with my baby!”
And sure this could be some “oh I want to prove to people that I still have it” which is what people ASSUME, however it couldn’t be further from the truth...
Brian wants to see you pregnant, to feel your belly against his back when you cuddle him, to see you nourishing new life, life he helped create...
You’re more than happy to comply, saying that he should probably start fucking you for breakfast so you can be pregnant by Christmas.
This is also so self indulgent bc I just wanna have his fucking babies

1824 Aug., Sat. 28
6 3/4
3 20/60
From 8 10/60 to 9 10/60 took a stroll along Coventry Street, Halfhide and Co., No. 7. Will cut me a seal with a motto e.g. a violet under a hedge with the motto il faut me chercher, for a guinea. Cutting my arms would be 3 guineas –
Then strolled along the Haymarket Jermyn Street., Regent Street to the end of Pall-Mall, thro’ St. James Square home – Sauntering leisurely turning up and down to look about me – Breakfast at 9 1/2 – went out at 10 10/60 –
Mr. Webb went with me to shew me the Jews’ synagogue (Danemark Court, Exeter Street Strand) – Went thro’ Leicester Square – 1/4 hour at the synagogue – Much disappointed – A dirty shabby place, yet they say, quite as good as that in Duke’s place near Houndsditch – But it seems, their grand place, where the tabernacle is, is in the minories – the Jew do not like to admit strangers – Cordingley met us just come out of the chapel (I had sent her at 9 to Mr. Truefitt to take a lesson in hair dressing) –
Went to the sitting magistrate Hatton garden – Only 2 magistrates there this morning (got there at about 11), the one Mr. Flower, the other (the most gentlemanly) who behaved to me so like a gentleman yesterday – 5 40/60 p.m. Interrupted here by dinner –
Mr. Webb soon brought up a roast leg of mutton and a newspaper asking me if I would like to look at it – I casually answered yes! He said there was business at Hatton Garden in it – He had never thought of its getting into the papers, and now it would be in them all – ‘Ah!’ said I, ‘the thought and fear of it just struck me last night – I am very sorry for it’ – It was the Times newspaper of today –
The whole thing very fairly put in – At the moment I felt mortified and annoyed at the idea of what a quiz it would be against me – Mr. Webbe saw this, which was probably more than he expected – I soon, however, grew reconciled as I always do, and told Mr. Webb when he came in again I could not help laughing at the thing, and did not know before that I was like a foreigner – “a lady whose habiliments and address bespoke her of foreign extraction” –
Told Mr. Webbe, if my uncle saw, it would a laugh against me forever – The truth was, I thought first of the Saltmarshes and that it would be in everybody's mouth at Halifax –
But to return to my this morning’s visit in Hatton garden – I walked in to the magistrates room – It seems, by the newspaper, Mr. Rogers was the 3rd magistrate yesterday and Mr. Laing the gentlemanly man to whom I felt most obliged –
I bowed and told him I had brought Mr. Webb – Mr. Laing appeared to smile, just said if I would give my name and address the permission should be granted – I asked if my name would not be sufficient. On his answering, ‘No!’ They were obliged to be particular whom they admitted – only to admit ladies and gents – Immediately wrote Miss Lister Shibden Hall Yorkshire, and Mr. Laing desired a clerk to write an order for me and my servant Elizabeth Wilkes Cordingley and Mr. Webb to see the tread-mill and the interior – I bowed, said I was much obliged the the gents, and retired –
The order procured us instant admittance, the utmost civility, and a sight of the whole interior – I asked the matron (a very nice woman who shewed the womens’ apartments, if she often shewed them – She said yes! But it required a particular order from the magistrates – And that this order (by which we were admitted), must have been a very particular one –
A most gratifying sight to see the prison so clean, and healthy, and orderly, and altogether in such excellent discipline – About 250 men and women and children – The men and women have 1 1/4 lb. bread a day, a pot (would hold a quart, I think at least) of gruel a day, and 6 oz. of meat every other day, and on the intermediate days, soup made of what the meat (beef, I understood) was boiled thickened with oatmeal and vegetables –
The women far worse to manage then the men – The matron would have less trouble with 500 men than 10 women – The young women (in their teens) the worst – And the man told us, the boys were much worse than the men – He thought there was more vice among them then any set of people –
8 20/60. I have just had Mr. Webb who came with the Courier newspaper (a little different from the Times, not less civil to me) and begged to say, he thought perhaps I had best write something in reply – Had best write a handsome letter to the editor of which paper I chose (I preferred the Courier) – I shall think of this a few minutes –
Began to write some – Buckley came with my pelisse – It does not fit at all – A great deal too large – Then the person from Waller’s brought my stays – Luckily, these do very well – At last, at 10 1/2 sat down and finished (altered the whole style of what I had written before) the following:
“To the editor of the Courier –
Sir – I have this moment read in your paper of today, the account of my applying yesterday to the magistrates of Hatton Garden for permission to see the treadmill at Cold Bath-Fields prison – I am surprised and sorry to find myself so unexpectedly intruded on the valuable space of your paper, having been perfectly thoughtless that so unimportant a circumstance could have been deemed worthy of notice; but since the matter has been made public, I feel desired that my motive should be divested of the “scientific” nature to which it has been attributed, and reduced to the simple wish of examining for myself the merits or demerits of the tread-mill.
I beg to express my thanks to the magistrates for their order of admission, which procured me not only access to the whole interior of the building, but the most obliging civility and attention from the matron and other attendants, on whom the apparent health and civil manners of the prisoners, and the perfect neatness and cleanliness of all the rooms, reflect the highest credit –
I cannot help feeling persuaded from the case with which all the prisoners, male and female, seemed to perform the exercise of the tread-mill, as well as from the short trial I myself made of it, that the labor is not so excessive as it has been represented, nor by any means so great as that daily undergone by a large portion of the lower classes of society –
If this determination never to condemn even in my own mind (for I presume not beyond this) any institution sanctioned by the proper authorities of my country, till I have taken all the pains in my power to procure the best possible information on the subject, –
If such a determination, tho’ however in the present case too hastily or ignorantly pursued, can at all excuse the singularity and perhaps informality of my application to the magistrates, I shall be much obliged to you to insert this letter in your next paper, and am Sir, your honourable servant A. Lister”–
Sent for Mr. Webbe – read him the above – He thought nothing could be better and was for my sending it – But I had determined to let the matter rest, and merely wrote this, that he might not think I could not do it –
Told him I should not like the notoriety of the thing – Should bring John Bull upon myself, etc. etc. and should be absent into the bargain, etc. and Mr. Webbe finished by agreeing I was right, tho’ I plainly saw he would have liked the notice into which I should probably bring myself –
I told [him] I could bring myself into notice any time, but it would not suit me now. John Bull would sift out everything. And my uncle, tho of an old family and good fortune, did not live in that style, would bear me out at present as I should wish –
But to return once more to the morning – After leaving the prison Mr. Webbe walked with us in search of South Crescent (Alfred Place Tottenham Court road) – It seemed a pretty long walk thro’ Brandenburgh, n! Mecklenburgh Squares, and thro’ an abundance of new streets –
Knocked at home 3 in the crescent – Asked for a wrong person, merely to find out that Mr. James Vallance lived there – A dirty woman servant came to the door – A simple house, like all the rest in the crescent – 4 stories high including the cellar kitchens – But I think the V– [Vallance]’s must be a vulgarish set –
Returned by the Soho bazar – Mr. Webbe shewed us all over it – Got home at 2 – Thanked Mr. W– [Webb] for his civility – The poor man had spoken most handsomely of his wife, and seemed to like to talk of her – He seems impressed with a considerable of my talents, and importance, physical strength, walking, riding, etc. etc.
Asked him about the expense of living in London – or of having lodgings or being at an hotel – He thought I could keep myself a maid and 2 men at an hotel very handsomely for 3 guineas a day, and a couple of horses would cost me a guinea a week each at livery –
My cloth boots pinched me – Changed them and went out again directly – Took Cordingley to shew her the Burlington Arcade and Western Exchange bazar – Then sent her home –
Sauntered slowly along myself to 166 Strand, and bought (at Dobson’s) a self-pointing pencil – Did npot much like the manners of the man, but found his pencil 3 /. [shillings] cheaper than in the Exeter change [Exeter Exchange], where I bought a small mariner’s compass in a brass case 4 /. [shillings] –
Then sauntered all along Regent Street and Portland Place, and Park Crescent across the new road a little way into the Park – The entrance paris style portico and steeple of all souls church at the far end of Regent Street very beautiful – The circle not quite finished – Regent Street and the tout ensemble Portland Place, etc. magnificent –
Met with a seal cutter No. 260 who would cut a fancy seal (a violet and il faut me chercher) for about 12 /. [shillings], ladies’ arms 1 1/2 guineas, gentlemans 2 guineas, without a motto, and 2 1/2 with one – Silvester No. 27 Strand would charge 18 /. [shillings] for the fancy seal, 2 guineas for a lady’s arms, and 2 1/2 for a gentlemans – Cheaper than Halfhide –
Got home at 5 20/60 – Washing my hands, etc. Dinner at 5 40/60 – The occupations of the evening are given out of their place – Above – Very fine day – E [one dot, treating venereal complaint] O [no dots, marking discharge].
Settl[ed my accounts (sent Cordingley to bed at 11) and went to my room at 12 40/60. Then packed, which took me till 2 3/4 –
[More About Coldbath Fields Prison]
In the Mount Pleasant area of Clerkenwell, London the prison was originally run by magistrates and housed prisoners on short sentences of up to two years, and also served as a debtor's prison. It took its name from Cold Bath Spring, a medicinal spring discovered in 1697. The prison housed men, women and children until 1850, when the women and children moved to Tothill Fields Bridewell, leaving only male offenders over the age of 17. Despite its aspirations to be more humanitarian, it became notorious for its strict regime of silence and its use of the treadmill.

So wow, this took me all evening to do. I knew it was going to be time consuming, but W O W. I had meant to do the writeup for Y5 19 today. OH WELL. I’d like to say, first off, these aren’t necessarily my top 9 absolute favorite dances in the series. I’d have to do a lot of soul-searching for that. Rather, it’s a few of my favorites (H@ppy Together, Magic a la Domo, and Precure Memory are high up there) and a balance of songs/dances from all over the series that I feel showcase it well. I put EVERY SINGLE DANCE ENDING (including movies) in a playlist and watched through them to make this, that’s over an hour of real time, and then I slowly removed videos until I was satisfied with my nine. Tomorrow I could do this again and probably come up with some other answers but, hey, that’s the fun. Never say I don’t love what I do. I’ll go over a few of my choices chronologically:
Ganbalance de Dance. Obviously Splash Star did it first, and before that there were a few dancing scenes in the Max Heart ending, but I liked Yes 5′s version the most of the three renditions of Ganbalance de Dance. There’s a bit where they’re shown only in silhouette and that’s really cool. Since it’s 2D animation, it’s harder to animate them moving around as you have to draw their new perspective rather than rotating a 3D model, and so the dance is a little stiff, but it’s fun and the song is catchy. These were the formative years of dance endings.
Fresh was the first show to use CG dance endings and they’ve stuck around ever since then. The first ending, “You Make Me Happy”, is a pretty dull song and a dull dance, but “H@ppy Together” is nice. Since FPC is their first time working with CG, the models aren’t great and the rigging and animation are stiff, but H@ppy Together takes advantage of this by making them figurines in a music box, which is good enough to mask their expressionless faces most of the time. Also it’s just a cute theme.
Honorable mention to Heartcatch here for using multiple models for each girl and translating Umakoshi’s designs to 3D. Really catchy songs, I just couldn’t fit them on this list. Instead, you get DX2, which comes up with new dances for each team to dance along with their opening theme, as well as the All Stars theme all mashed together in a medley. Although they technically were shown dancing a little bit in GoGo Dream Live, this is the first time all cures are together in a CG dance, and that’s a technical achievement. They jump all over the place, standing on floating platforms and bouncing off the walls and stage. The models are still kind of stiff but just seeing then-all 17 cures interacting with each other like that is incredible.
Suite managed to improve the animation a little bit, I really like the floating setting for this ending. It’s a fun, poppy, bop of an ending and it features Cure Muse, finally.
Smile features a VAST improvement on the animation, especially in their faces, but I wound up using the New Stage variant of the song because I liked seeing how they made all the older cures dance to the song. There were some great effects with the castle stage.
HappinessCharge. They use assets for each of their three forms, and the texturing on the hilltop at the end is really good, but what makes this ending especially notable to me is the lighting. When they’re dancing in the sunset and they’re cast in shades of orange, it’s really incredible. I HAD to include it. I also wanted to include the movie ending where it’s just the same thing as the second ED but instead of ending they jump out of a fucking blimp and land in a stadium as Lovely transforms into her movie super form and they sing another verse.... but sunset was more visually impressive and commendable.
Princess. Aside from being a good jam, the backgrounds are very ornate. The models used for the girls are very detailed, I think they tweaked the rendering engine again or something. I really love the bit when they transform into Mode Elegant.
Maho Girls is here because, wow that song is a BOP. The lyrics are laughable but the animation is very bouncy and cute and Mofurun even dances as well. I enjoy that it was sung by the actresses. Kirakira is here for a similar reason. I dig the choreography, and that opening bit where Whip is shaking her hips to the beat is cute. Each girl gets a moment in the spotlight and there’s some cool visual effects. It’s not the best song and sometimes I think I like the first ending better but it’s distinct enough to warrant being on this list.
Shout out to Star Twinkle ending 2 for being super duper weird though.

I had some free time today at work and thought I’d jot down the changes/streamlined things from the doctor sleep book to movie. Cause I obviously have nothing better to do! This probably isn’t all of them but I mean...there is a lot in the book haha. This came out so much longer then I thought so I apologize!
Obviously, spoilers ahead for the book and movie! If you have any things I missed, feel free to add on :)
From the start, Dick Hallorann is obviously dead in the movie. He pops up a few times through the movie, helping Dan at the start, again at the hotel in NJ, and then later in NH when he needs a bit of a push to help Abra. In the book, Dick is alive! For the most part, he doesn’t die like in the 1980 Shining movie. He does the same with Dan at the start, helping him with the boxes, but then we don’t see him again. We hear his voice through a patient at the hospice, urging Dan to get the baseball glove I believe. But he does die at some point in the book, I think the late 90s?
The movie cuts out allll the stuff about the True Knot just...just chilling around NYC after 9/11 happens. They also cut out Abra knowing about it, as a baby, and crying until I believe the second plane crashes? Which I mean...I’m good with that, that’s a lot to deal with.
They cut out Momo entirely. There isn’t too much focus on Abra’s family here, maybe her father most of all, but the movie’s main focus is Dan, Abra, and Rose. With no Momo, that means there isn’t the whole scenario at the end with Dan unleashing...I think it’s Momo, her soul? I wasn’t entirely clear the first time I heard it, I believe it was her cause it basically killed the True Knot.
Speaking of the True Knot, there’s only about...7 of them I believe in the movie. There’s about 40ish at the beginning of the book, which I mean is a lot. It makes sense for them to get cut down, and again the focus in that group is mostly Rose, Crow Daddy, and Andi. Speaking of Andi, she’s aged down from the book. She’s 15 in the movie, late 20’s I think in the book? Maybe 30.
They only show Abra once or twice as a child, wherein the book we check back in with her from time to time as she’s growing up. They keep the main bit of her as a kid when at her 5th birthday party she does the spoon trick.
When Dan gets to Frazier, he doesn’t see Tony. In the movie versions, we never see Tony as described in The Shining or Doctor Sleep. I think Tony gets two namedrop’s in the movie.
Billy Freeman has been aged down, good ol Cliff Curtis! Love that dude. But he’s also become Dan’s main friend, wherein the book there was John Dalton (who is also in the movie for 2 scenes) and Casey (who is nowhere to be seeennn) They streamline these characters into Billy, which makes sense. There is only so much time the movie has and it’s already about...2 ½ hours long haha
John Dalton is in the movie, but he’s only in 3 scenes. The most crucial ones are when Dan tells him about the watch and when John offers him an orderly job at the hospice. He never has any scenes with Abra’s family and the movie doesn’t indicate that they know each other, wherein the book the Stone’s interact with John multiple times.
Small thing, but the “steam” that comes from the patients of the hospice in the movie is white whereas in the movie it’s described as red.
The time jumps are different. In the movie, these’s two. There’s one from 1980 (the year the movie The Shining came out) to 2011 when we first see Dan living….a really shitty life. And then there’s the time jump from 2011 to 2019. In the book, there’s a few since we are able to linger with these characters more. You have the one a few months after the events of the Shining book, and then early 2000s then two or three years after that and so on. That way it allows the reader to kinda see how Abra grows up and see how long Dan has been sober.
The baseball boy scene in the book takes place when Abra is...between 8 to 10 if I remember correctly? But it isn’t until a few years later when Abra sees the boys face in one of those “missing kids” things from the papers that she starts to act on it. Where in the movie, the scene takes place when Abra is a teen and within the next few day to a week (I think...I may be wrong but it’s quick!) she’s able to find something online about him going missing and finding out who Rose is and what not. Also when Dan learns about this in the movie, he sees it saying REDRUM in the mirror when it actually says MURDER on the wall. In the book, Abra does send a message but it’s just “They are killing the baseball boy”
When Abra and Dan meet up in the movie, Abra surprised him at tiny town and that’s the first time he figures out her name. He had left a message for her on the board and I assume that was how she kinda tracked him down. In the book, they had emailed once or twice and decided on a place to meet. Dan had known Abra’s name since she was basically unknowingly reaching out to him.
I may be remembering this incorrectly, so correct me if I’m wrong, but Dan in the movie seemed very definitive in that he wanted Abra to keep her head down from the True Knot. For good reason of course, he reiterates if you mess with people or things like this they would never leave you “they come back.” Like the ghosts of the Overlook kept coming back for him. He doesn’t want that to happen to Abra and says to keep her head down. Now I believe in the book, he’s not as much “keep your head down” but he tells her to set up an alarm in case Rose tries to come back. But I also believe he tells her to keep it on the down-low with that group, which I mean of course Abra wouldn’t lol. But I could be wrong on that, I’ve gotta go re-listen to that part.
In the book, we don’t see Dick Hallorann again but we hear his voice through a patient. In the movie, he actually pops back up at the hospice Dan works at! Dan almost locks him in a box, thinking he’s from the Overlook before realizing it’s Dick. It’s one of my favorite scenes because you get to see how at ease Dan is with Dick. He’s got this big smile on his face, talking about how Doris Herwin (or w/e his name is, that’s totally wrong) came back and he locked him in a box. And Dick also mentions to Dan, cause Dan is asking why he has to help Abra, that why did Dick have to help Dan and get killed for it (like in the Kubrick movie). Not in a malicious way of course, but he’s basically telling Dan he can’t run away from Abra. She needs him.
In the book, when Rose goes into Abra’s mind, Abra turns into Daenerys from Game of Thrones. In the movie she becomes...Emerald from RWBY. When I told my brother that he got super hyped, but he’s more into that show then I am hahaha
There is nothing with the measles that Brad Trevor’s steam had in the movie. Just punted that idea right outta there. In the book, they are all slowly being effected and dying from it. In the movie, Grandpa Flick dies because they just haven’t been getting enough steam and disappears. And creepily the rest of the True Knot jump on his steam like no one’s business.
Since Billy is taking over the John Dalton role, he’s the one who goes with Dan to Iowa to get the baseball glove from Brad Trevor. They drive, wherein the book I believe they flew.
In the book, Rose doesn’t insist on coming along with the group of the True Knot going to get Abra. She stays back with the rest of the pack to make sure everyone is all good (or something along those lines). But with the True Knot being smaller in the movie, they are all going but Crow Daddy insists that Rose stays since Abra “tagged her”. Rose isn’t pleased with it but she allows it.
The ambush scene is generally the same, but Dave (Abra’s father) isn’t there. It’s just Billy and Dan. And Dan goes to fire his gun but it’s empty and as he tries to reload, Andi (after a few times) makes him fall asleep for a moment. Abra wakes him up but Andi is standing over Dan, ready to kill him, when Billy shoots her twice. Before Andi dies, she tells Billy to kill himself and before Dan can stop him, Billy does just that. Abra’s father is also killed when Crow Daddy comes to get Abra. In the movie Abra didn’t go to a friend’s house, she stayed at home with her father.
There isn’t a scene like this in the book (but they deal with it when Dan just realllly wants to drink when he’s having inner monologue) but Dan goes back to his apartment in Frazier, tries to call out for Abra and it doesn’t work. He asks for Tony’s help, but there is no answer. He’s holding a bottle of whiskey and he puts it to his lips multiple times before throwing it away.
The scene when Abra and Dan switch places is a little different. In the book, Dan is in the back of a car that John Dalton is driving (with Dave) and they can hear Abra through Dave. In the movie, Dan (in this really awesome effect) slides across his floor as the world tilts and hits the wall and he finds Abra. They switch when they hold up their hands to each other. Dan/Abra crashes the car they are in, causing Crow Daddy to fly out and die. I believe Crow Daddy dies from a gunshot in the book?
One thing that is referenced in the movie but not elaborated on in the movie is that Dan and Abra are actually related! In the book, Lucy (Abra’s mother) is Dan’s half-sister. Lucy’s mother, at some point in time, was together with Jack Torrance for a night or so. Lucy’s mother died and never told her about her father and Momo didn’t know too much about him either. Dan is able to figure it out with some clues...and some other things, it happened a little fast for me in the book if I’m honest. But in the movie, they reference this by having Abra call Dan “Uncle Dan” even tho they aren’t related.
This is the biggest detour from the Doctor Sleep movie and book. Because Kubrick’s The Shining didn’t burn down the Overlook Hotel, it is still standing. Whereas King’s The Shining had the hotel burn down after Jack had forgotten to dump the boiler. The final showdown between Rose, Dan, and Abra happens at the Overlook (in a sense) but in a different fashion.
In the movie, Dan walks around the Overlook and “wakes it up” after being boarded up and left alone for almost 40 years. One of the most crucial scenes (for me anyway) in the movie happens in the Gold Room where Dan meets up with his father, Jack, but he is calling himself “Lloyd” the bartender. Mike Flanagan has said that this was the scene Stephen King wanted when allowing this portion of the movie to take place. In this scene, Dan tries to talk to his father. His “father” insists on Dan to “take his medicine” which is a glass of whiskey that has been poured for him. This is a call back to the King The Shining. By the end of this scene, Jack slaps away the glass once Dan refuses to take the drink (which Jack had done and lost himself to the hotel)
Abra and Dan face Rose on the steps of the Colorado lodge, Dan holding an ax. In the book, Abra isn’t really at this location. She is back at her home in NH and is projecting herself there. In the movie, Dan and Abra attempt to fool Rose by trapping her in one of Dan’s boxes. She is able to see through this, throws Abra from Dan’s mind, and Dan tells her to run. In the book, Dan makes a point to Abra multiple times that if things started to get rough, she had to leave.
Rose and Dan talk, which they did in the book but it was more in Dan’s mind that Rose was messing with, and Rose follows Dan up the stairs like how Jack followed Wendy up the stairs in Kubrick Shining. Dan goes to attack Rose, hits her but she is able to take the ax, hit him in the head, lodge the ax’s blade into his thigh (hitting his femoral artery) and throws him down the steps (like the movie). In the book, Rose tries to get Dan to choke himself and she almost gets him to do it but the ghost of Jack stops her and allows time for Abra to come back.
In the book, Abra and Dan are able to force Rose off the cliffside (is it a cliff side, I was trying to get that too...it’s a big ol ledge and a big ol fall) and she dies. In the movie, Rose is over Dan and, lodging her thumb in the wound she gave him with the ax, begins to take his steam as he cries out. She then realizes that he has boxes in his mind and Dan unleashes them on her. The ghosts of the Overlook come out and kill Rose, standing over her like the True knot had done with Brad Trevor.
To me, because Dan is wounded badly and some of his shine has been taken, the ghosts of the Overlook com after him and take him over. He attempted to close them back in but was unable to do so (because, to me, he was vulnerable)
This is where Mike takes the ending of the Shining book, that didn’t make it into the Shining movie, and uses it. Dan is possessed by the hotel and chases after Abra, who runs around and bumps into a few ghosts before going into 237. In here, Abra confronts “Dan” and calls him a false face. “Masks off then” another reference The Shining. Abra tells “Dan” that the real Dan went to the boiler room before all of this, which would essentially blow up the hotel. “Dan” tries to attack Abra but she stops him and is able to bring the real Dan back. They talk, Abra not wanting to leave him but Dan says “he’s exactly where he’s supposed to be” and jokes that he “has to close the door behind us” The Overlook begins to take him over again and Abra runs away, leaving the hotel behind. “Dan” runs down to the boiler room and tries to turn off the boiler (like the ghosts thought they could in The Shining) but Dan is able to fight them off and take back control. With his leg bleeding out, the boiler begins to blow up and fire builds in the room. There, Dan sees Wendy (the last time he saw her he couldn’t see her at all because of the death flies) and then a younger version of Dan appears and they smile at one another. Dan dies in the hotel and Abra speaks to him in her room sometime after. She says she “knew he would be ok” and Dan apologized for putting her in danger. They talk and Dan tells her to not hide like he had told her once before. “Shine on Abra Stone. You shine on” Abra’s mother comes in at this time and we see that Dan was not there, but a ghost-like Dick Hallorann had been. Abra tells her mother that Dan and her father are ok. The last shot is Abra walking towards the bathroom where Mrs. Massey is and closes the door, mirroring what Dave had done when he locked her away at the beginning of the story.
In the book, as many know, Dan lives! After the big battle with Rose, Dan is able to see from afar his father Jack from where Rose had fallen. They blow each other a kiss, which was something they used to do. The book then skips a few years into the future and Dan is celebrating 15 years of being sober. He tells the group of his hidden truth through the whole book, where he left a young mother and her son without money after a one night stand. It’s a heavyweight he lifts off his shoulders and he shocked to see the people of the AA group don’t become disgusted with him. Sometime later, he goes to the Stone’s home (Dave is still alive too!) and had a talk with Abra, who is having a bit of teenage drama. They talk about their family past and other things before Dan has to leave. The book ends with Dan going back to the hospice and sliding back into his role as “Doctor Sleep”
This is way too long and I put in too much detail but hey there we go! There are probably more things but the book just has SO MUCH going on (tho I do love it) and I feel like a lot had to be streamlined into 2 ½ hours, which is still a long movie! There are many things that are the same, things that are different, but I love both the same way. Mike Flanagan had a huge task and I think he succeeded. And while I know many people don’t like that the book and movie ending are different, I like that we can have both options. And hey, that’s what fanfic is for haha

rereading aftg with my dumbass opinions pt. 2 (tfc chapters 6-10)
pt. 1 | pt. 2 | pt. 3
look guys! its the highly unanticipated continuation of my reread of aftg!
chapter 6 (aka. meet this MESS of a team)
“My mother's family is French." It was a lie that probably had his British mother rolling over in her sandy grave.”
neil really never misses an opportunity to remind readers that he fucking buried his mom on the beach huh?
“A liar who practices occasional honesty. Clever. Keeps people guessing. Very effective. I would know. I do it myself, you see. Come on, then. After you.”
have i mentioned how entertaining high andrew is? because he’s funny as hell
also rereading these are fun because Nora is incredible at foreshadowing just sayin
“Neil automatically reached for his seatbelt, but one of the brothers was sitting on it.”
how neil would be in the back of the cousins’ car if they let him:
Tumblr media
“You?" Neil said. "You can't." Andrew's smile curved wider. "Ohhh, that sounds like a challenge. Mother may I?" "Your mother's dead. I don't think she cares what you do.”
HO HO HOLY SHIT NEIL
“Starting a fight was too out of character for who he portrayed "Neil” to be, though.”
Tumblr media
“Consider this your official invite, you suicidal wretch. I'm bringing you to Columbia with us this Friday.”
awe suicidal wretch... glad they’re starting those pet names early
“I don't drink or dance," Neil said.
Tumblr media
andrew: i kno u can
“Kevin doesn't dance anymore”
anymore? ANYMORE??? release the cursed events that led to him not dancing anymore Nora im begging you
“Are you bleeding anywhere?" Matt asked. "Nowhere vital," Neil said.
gskjgnsak god i stan this little asshole so much
“She said it gently, with the hint of a smile on her face, but Neil still felt the rebuke. It was subtler but somehow deadlier”
have i mentioned how gay i am for renee? because im very gay for renee
“Allison looked ready for a photo shoot with perfect platinum curls, spiked heels, and a skintight dress.”
im also gay for allison ngl
“I can move if you want to sit here," Neil said. "No, this is fine." She smiled, but it had a smug edge to it, probably because Seth was glaring at them like he could kill them with willpower alone. ”
lol remember how neil doesn’t think he’s attractive and yet in 0.1 seconds after meeting him allison is like “yes this idiot is hot enough to piss off the other idiot im dating”
“Personal favorite was when someone told the police we were running a meth lab out of the dorm," Dan said sourly. "Police raids are awesome.”
no offence dan but that’s fucking hilarious omg
that’s kind of like the time my residence floor had to get evacuated bc some kids hotboxed their dorm room
god i love uni
“The death threats were creative, though," Nicky said. "Maybe this time they'll follow through and actually kill one of us. Let's vote. I nominate Seth.”
pfffffttttt i love Nicky omg
also hahahahahah foreshadowing!
“It'll be fine," Andrew said. "I promised, didn't I? Don't you believe me?" It took a while, but at last Kevin visibly relaxed. ”
again this is why i thought they were fucking for like the better part of the first two books
“The dead look Kevin turned on Andrew today was the same look Neil saw in his reflection. When Neil stopped acting, when he stopped worrying about who was watching, when he let go of the lies that kept him alive, that was the only expression he could make.”
it’s fine i didnt need a heart anyways
this kid is 18 hes A BABY
the first time i read this i was 18 too and like jfc i was a BABY at 18 and so i neil
“One of us has to make it, Mom." It wasn't going to be Neil. It was obvious he was too stupid to survive without his mother if he let himself get into messes like this. But maybe Kevin could do it.”
sorry let me just wipe my TEARS off my fucking laptop neil honey what the fuck
“He felt distant as he watched them walk in. Maybe he was already dying, his stupid soul fading from his short body in preparation for a brutal end.”
neil we get it you have depression (me too bitch u aint special)
“Fuck running," Seth said.
now that’s a whole ass mood
“he didn't know how Renee could smile so warmly when she was speaking to Andrew.”
haha bitch just wait
“when he slept, he dreamed of his father waiting for him on the Foxhole Court.”
remember how at the end of the series his father is waiting on the court but neil wins??? god we love good storytelling
this is such a fucking wild chapter
could you imagine? coming back from the summer and your first introduction to this amateur from arizona is this neil josten level of sass? because i’d probably kill him
first years are bad enough but first years who dont care about other people’s opinions? the fucking worst
chapter 7 (aka. neil does NOT have a fun night out)
“It seemed Allison and Seth didn't believe in middle ground: either they were slinging vile insults at each other or they were making out in the locker room regardless of whoever might be around.”
that’s just how the straights are
“It reminded Neil a little of Allison and Seth, except without the desperate sexual undertones.”
i’ll just leave this gem of a line here
“His teammates held so little regard for him he didn't even have the dubious honor of being dead last.”
Tumblr media
neil shading himself is actually hilarious how relatable
“Neil watched him do it, trying to remember the last time someone gave him a gift and coming up blank. That his first one should be from Andrew was unsettling.”
i actually love the fact that andrew bought him clothes so early on like andrew your gay is showing
“Neil debated how much damage the thick heels of his new boots would do against Andrew's face and liked what his mind came up with.”
i thank god everyday that these books are neil’s pov
“Andrew gave Neil another slow once-over and let go. "We're going.”
Tumblr media
^andrew seeing neil w/o contacts (aka. the ‘i can’t think straight’ vine)
“Most of the men wore leather, half the women had corsets, and a good number of both genders were covered in buckles and chains.”
this... is a... gay bar
“Andrew saluted the bouncers on his way by and led the way into the club, bypassing the line entirely.”
i always forget the drinking age in the us is 21 but like this bar really dont care about their liquor license AT ALL lmao
“You think Kevin would risk his future over a night out at the club?" "What future?" Neil asked.”
WOW NEIL WAY TO BE A BITCH
“Neil hadn't seen Aaron get up, but he was waiting behind Neil when Andrew let go. Neil reached for Andrew with lethal intent, but Aaron grabbed the back of his chair and pulled hard enough to topple it over.”
why are the twins literally this gif:
Tumblr media
real talk nicky kissing neil like that is horrible and really reflects poorly on nicky as a character
andrew for this entire chapter:
Tumblr media
chapter 8 (aka. a hitchhiker’s guide to lying about your identity)
“I don't know how your conversation with Andrew went, but it didn't end well. Rumor has it you paid a busboy a hundred bucks to knock you out. Way to cut our night short.”
this is probably my favourite thing neil does in the entire series ngl
“Wymack grabbed his elbow and hauled him inside. He slowed just long enough to slam the door behind Neil. "Are you stupid or just crazy? Do you have any idea what could have happened to you between here and there? What were you thinking?”
Why does Wymack literally sound like my father?
foxes: daddy?
wymack: DO I LOOK LIKE
follow up:
kevin: daddy?
wymack: uh yeah
“I don't know what the beef is between you two, but it ends here and now.”
Wymack @ neil: tell your boyfriend, if he says he’s got beef that your a vegetarian and your not fucking scared of him
“Then correct me." "Give me a reason." "Besides the obvious?" Andrew said. "If I can't get an answer from you, I'll get it wherever I can.”
andrew:
Tumblr media
“I'm—" Neil didn't want to say it, but the word was already there, broken and pathetic between them, "—nothing. I'll always have and be nothing.”
Tumblr media
“He wondered for a moment if Andrew could handle the entire truth so calmly, but that was too dangerous and stupid to consider.”
“Hope was a dangerous, disquieting thing, but he thought perhaps he liked it.”
this is such a good fucking line like i am shooketh
chapter 9 (aka. neil is, like, really horny for exy)
“Are you stupid?" Seth asked. "Yeah," Neil said.”
what a fuckin MOOD
“Neil had almost forgotten why he liked Exy so much. He did his best at practices but these days he worked mostly to keep his teammates off his back. As Neil surveyed Kevin's damage, he finally felt inspired again. On its heels was a hungry, desperate rush.”
Tumblr media
“Seth made as if to throw his beer at Neil. "His life is not more important than mine just because he's more talented.”
sometimes i really wish seth was actually given a chance to have some character development
“ "Maybe you're not as stupid as I thought." "Maybe I am," Neil said”
another big fucking MOOD
chapter 10 (aka. shocking: university is hard :/ )
“It's fun telling Kevin no," Andrew said with a wicked grin.”
why is andrew like this omg
betsy probably was like just looking for a chill job and was like “oh cool uni students? ill have to deal with like a lot of anxiety, sexual tension, depression and like confusion about the future, not to bad” but NOPE welcome to the fucking MAFIA WARS
“That wasn't so bad, was it? Andrew was convinced it would be a disaster. He put money on you hating Betsy." "Did you bet against him?" "Yes," Renee said. "It was a private bet between the two of us.”
“I hope you didn't lose much," Neil said.”
god why is he such an asshole at every opportunity i love him
“I can take care of myself," Neil said. "Watch me beam with pride.”
wymack is the best father in the world and you cant convince me otherwise
“There was one for every fall team with schedules printed on each. Neil kept the Exy one, tossed the rest into the trash, and buried his magnet deep in his pocket where he didn't have to look at the dates.”
neil “i only care about exy” josten strikes again with his great school spirit
“Palmetto State was facing Edgar Allan on Friday, October 13th”
that’s such a cliche and i love it
“He detoured around students toward one of Palmetto State's three dining halls. Two were for the general student body. The third was for athletes only”
lmao my school literally has one dining hall and it couldnt give less of a fuck what type of student they’re selling food too as long as they’ll pay $15 for chicken fingers
what kind of money does palmetto state fuckin have
like i get us tuition is a lot but jesus so’s mine and my school couldn’t be less fucked
“It was only the first day of school and he already had three assignments: a short paper, a fifty-page chapter to read, and a page of questions about said chapter. Neil debated for a minute as to which one sounded least painful. Five minutes later he was still uninspired, so he put his head down on his desk.”
1. MOOD
2. first years are so cute thinking that’s a lot of assignments i remember in first year being like “i have to read 40 pages thats so unfair :(” and now i’m like “ah sick only 200 pgs of readings this week? im gonna have so much free time!”
upper year history sucks ngl
“I'm fine," Neil said.”
neil knows exactly two (2) words and those are it
“You say that an awful lot," Matt said. "I'm starting to think you don't know what it means.”
Tumblr media
overall thoughts:
the plot is pickinnnng upppp
i kind of forget how much world building happens in the first book but like its good
also i love neil literally hating everyone its so funny bc like bby these going to be your best friends just wait
anyways that’s all for now

Word Count: 2.3k
Genre/tags: Oneshot, Barista!Lisa, Ghost!Jisoo, Slight Angst
Pairing: Lisa x Jisoo
Notes: Feel free to give constructive criticism!! This is my first-ever oneshot so it’s not the best but I’m pretty proud of this :) Also I turned this in as a narrative story for my English class lmao
Lisa let out a sigh of relief as the last customer walked outside and she wiped down the counters. 9:00 PM; finally. The workday was finally over, and she was the only one left in the coffee shop. Or, at least, so she thought.
“Hello?” She heard a female voice, not much older than herself, from the other side of the room.
“Oh, sorry, ma’am, we’re closed,” She began in response, turning towards the source of the sound. But, to her disbelief, there was nobody there. ‘That’s weird,’ she thought, ‘I could’ve sworn that I heard somebody.’ After looking around for a few minutes, she concluded that it was probably just her imagination. It’d been a long day, and the overtime she’d worked had probably begun to take its toll on her mind and body.
The young woman finished making sure everything was back in place, grabbed her keys, and left the building, remembering to lock the door behind her. She pulled her long bleached hair out of her ponytail as she walked to her car. It was a long day, but something’s gotta pay for her rent and college tuitions. But something still felt off, particularly with the voice she heard. Lisa had convinced herself that it was her imagination, but still; it felt so real, and present. Was she absolutely sure nobody had just, walked in and walked back out?
She shook off the thought as she unlocked her car. Work was over- it didn’t matter what she heard, because she was going home, anyways. Right?
The next day, Lisa came back in at 11 o’clock in the morning. Today was a Monday; it’d be considerably slower today, which was both a good and a bad thing, in her opinion. She just hoped that everything would go smoothly today. It should- it usually does- but there are some exceptions, and she didn’t want to have to deal with that.
Fortunately, the day went quite smooth. She took her lunch break at 3, grabbed herself a croissant, and walked back to the breakroom. It was a simple room- just a table, a few chairs, and a microwave- but she liked the solitude provided in it. She was the only one working today, but, to be fair, it was a Monday. Chances are, there wouldn’t be any customers during the time she was eating, and even if there were, she would be able to hear them enter.
After a few minutes, she heard the familiar jingle of the door. She quickly rushed back into the service area. “Hello, welcome to-”
“Hi,” the other person smiled. It was another girl, who looked to be in her early twenties, with long, dark hair. She was standing near the counter, but not too close- it seemed as if she was going to order, but not yet. She stared at the menu overhead with great focus and contemplation, her dark eyes shimmering more than a lake at sunset.
“Do you need a minute to choose?” Lisa asked, preparing to take the girl’s order.
“Oh, uh… No, it’s okay,” the other girl shook her head. “I’ll-”
“No, it’s fine, I can give you a minute if you need it.”
“It’s okay, I don’t need it, I know what I want.” The other girl chuckled for a second as Lisa nodded. “I’ll get a Matcha Green Tea Frappé”
“Alright, miss, that’ll be $3.50. Will you be paying with cash or a card?”
“Cash. And you can call me Jisoo.” The girl slid four dollar bills across the counter. “Oh, and keep the change.”
“Oh, thank you!” Lisa smiled as she put the cash in the register, and began making her order. “So, what brings you to our little town?”
“Nothing; I’ve actually been here a while.”
“Oh, really?” exclaimed the blonde-haired girl, amused. “How long?”
“Longer than you’d think,” Jisoo responded, a bit of a somber and mysterious tone lacing the words.
“Ah… Alright.”
Lisa gave her the drink, and the two continued to talk. They actually found that they had a lot in common, despite Jisoo’s occasional peculiarity. She was quite nice, and Lisa found her presence enjoyable- you could even say they were becoming friends. She also noticed that Jisoo felt comforting and familiar in a way- like a protective and nurturing friend. However, after about thirty or forty-five minutes, Lisa heard the phone ringing from the breakroom. “Hold on a second,” she said, rushing back to the room. But as soon as she arrived, the phone stop ringing. “Dang it,” she muttered to herself, walking back to the counter. “Well, they’ll call back.”
Strangely, though, when she returned, Jisoo was nowhere to be seen. ‘She must have left…’ thought Lisa. She felt a twinge of sadness amongst her confusion. For some reason, Jisoo had left behind her drink.
And, strangely, it was completely full.
Jisoo continued to come back, more and more frequently each week- and, eventually, each month. Whenever she showed up, it was always at the same time, too- around 3:15, and only on weekdays. Yeah, she was puzzling sometimes, but Lisa came to know her as one of her best friends. They talked a lot, getting into pretty deep subjects and exchanging personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Eventually, in fact, Jisoo stopped buying drinks and began showing up just to talk to her new best friend.
One Sunday night, a few months later, as Lisa was closing up, she found something in the back room. An old scrapbook. ‘Huh,’ she pondered, ‘I wonder when this is from. Or whose it is.’ She didn’t want to snoop, but something about the scrapbook just pulled her in. It had some sort of energy- energy that she couldn't resist. She couldn’t help but flip through it.
The pictures in there looked to be a few decades old, at least. They were grainy and also a bit worn-out but in otherwise fairly good condition. As she looked through, she saw nothing strange. It was a family scrapbook, with multiple photos which included a father, a mother, and two young daughters. The family looked slightly familiar, though Lisa couldn’t quite put her finger on it. As she watched the daughters grow, though, she gasped. Why did the pictures look so familiar?
One of the daughters looked remarkably like Jisoo, and as she watched them grow up, Lisa realized, she was Jisoo.
And why did Jisoo seem so familiar when they first met?
Well, thirty years ago, in 1989, two young women- sisters- died in a terrible car accident. Lisa remembered reading a book about the event at the library a few years ago. And, well, these photos were undeniably some of the same ones she’d seen.
Lisa vigorously shook her head, continuing to flip through ‘No, this isn’t real. Jisoo is dead. Is Jisoo dead? Is this even her? Or is this… Is this all a dream?’
Alas, it wasn’t- and that was definitely Jisoo. The blond girl didn’t understand this. Were ghosts real? Thoughts, ideas, and overall anxiety raced through her mind. Her vision began to become blurry, and she felt a wave of nausea, but she couldn’t do anything about it before… she blacked out.
“Lisa? Lisa, are you okay?” She groaned as she heard the voice echoing. Her head was pounding, and she had no idea where she was, or what had happened.
“You’re awake?” The voice asked. She groaned, again, in response. “Okay, good. Now, I know you’re confused, but I can explain. At least, once you get up.”
Lisa rubbed her eyes and eventually sat up. As her vision cleared up, she saw a face. An all-too-familiar face. She wanted to say something, but she was too shocked- she didn’t know what she would say, anyways.
“Lisa, I know this might be kind of scary, but please don’t be afraid. It’s okay. I’m not here to hurt you.”
Lisa squirmed in her position “But… A-aren’t you…”
“Yes, I’m dead. But that doesn’t change anything, really.”
“You died thirty years ago, what-”
“We’re still friends, though, aren’t we?” Jisoo stared into her eyes- er, well, more like her soul, to be honest.
“Yeah, but… W-what the heck happened? What’s going on?”
The dark-haired girl sighed. “You found my scrapbook.”
“W-well yeah,” Lisa said,“I did, but-”
“So now you know.”
“Yeah, I do, but what’s going-”
“Please….” she gave Lisa a chilling touch on the shoulder.
“...What?”
“Please set me free.”
“What do you mean?”
“Every night, I relive it. Every night.” Jisoo took a deep breath. “It’s because I’m bound to death. This isn’t hell, but it’s my own personal hell.”
“Bound to death…? J-Jisoo, are you alright? Why didn’t you tell me before?”
“I couldn’t. And, no, I’m not really.” She paused. “The only thing that’s made things worthwhile in the past few months, has been you.”
Lisa’s eyes watered. She had been best friends with Jisoo for months, and not only was she a ghost, but she was ‘bound to death’, whatever that means. And she helped her, and could help her further. “So… What happens if I set you free?”
“Well, right now, I’m in a bit of a purgatory. Something went wrong when I was going to the afterlife, and I became a ghost instead of going where everyone else goes it’s not as uncommon as you might think. But, for some reason… Everything is limited for me. I can only spend a certain amount of time in the ‘real world’, and I’m always connected to the scrapbook.”
“Isn’t that how ghosthood normally works?”
“Well, not really. Most of the time, as a ghost, you can roam free, and do whatever you want. But for some people, like me, things are limited. It’s like the universe wants to torture us, and we keep reliving our deaths. We have no escape. We’re bound to death. But… If a living person sets us free, then we can be free. We can be like normal friends, and I could leave this stupid place. It’s almost like being alive again.”
“What if you went to the other place, though? To the afterlife, or whatever?”
“Well then, I’ll still be free, and at peace. Except… I won’t get to see you.”
Tears began to spill a bit from Lisa’s eyes.
“No! Don’t cry! The chances of something like that are slim to none.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely. If you just follow these instructions, I’ll be able to come to the real world, and we can keep being friends. And I’ll finally get to escape death.”
“Please, set Kim Jisoo’s soul free. So mote it be.”
Lisa finished saying the words, and a powerful wind began to fill the breakroom. Papers flew off of the table, flyers were torn off of the corkboard, and everything seemed to swirl around Jisoo’s figure, which was now glowing a bright blue.
“IT’S…. HAPPENING…” she struggled to get her words out. She knew her soul would be forcefully ripped from the scrapbook, but she thought it would feel refreshing, if anything, rather than draining. She felt physically exhausted, and increasingly detached from this world, too. But… that would subside soon, she was sure of it. You have to lose something to receive something… right?
Right.
“Jisoo, is it working? How do you feel?”
“I….” Jisoo began, but the roar of the circling winds within the room drowned her out. Lisa held onto the table, gazing at the situation in both euphoria and horror. ‘This is scary, but Jisoo’s being set free. Jisoo’s being set free. She’s being set-’
But, then, all at once, everything stopped. The winds relented, the paper all fell to the ground, and the center of the room stopped radiating a bright blue.
But where was Jisoo?
“Are… Are you there?”
No response.
Lisa waited for a few seconds, then repeated herself, louder and more concerned this time.
“Jisoo, please, are you there??”
Still, no answer.
Lisa ran out of the breakroom, searching frantically for Jisoo. 'She has to be here somewhere. She has to be. I did everything right, didn’t I?’
She hurried outside, still looking for her friend. ‘I did everything she said, she has to be here somewhere,’
Break room?
No.
In the shop?
No.
Outside?
No.
She kept looking. Rushing back to the breakroom, she found the scrapbook in the pile of documents, and yanked it out, flipping through the pages once more. Nothing changed, and Jisoo was still nowhere to be found except for in the photos. ‘Please. She has to be here. She has to.’
She checked every possible place, and even drove home in a frenzy, wondering if she could be there. But, still, her best friend was not in the bedroom, the kitchen, living room, bathroom, or any other possible place.
She was gone.
-
It was a week later. Lisa had scoured everywhere for her best friend, but she soon realized that it was all in vain and gave up.
She’d been crying. A lot. Nothing could replace Jisoo. When they met, it was just a nice, seemingly meaningless conversation in a coffee shop; but it grew to be so much more than that. Jisoo was her best friend, her confidant, even- dare I say it- her soulmate. Nothing could replace that.
As she sat next to the lake, Lisa remembered how Jisoo’s eyes looked when they first met. More shimmery than a lake at sunset. Yes, this setting was beautiful, but Jisoo was even more so, physically and intellectually. She felt heartbroken and absolutely terrible; she’d messed up during the ritual, she knew it. Jisoo was sent to the afterlife instead of to this world.
She knew she could never forgive herself. Jisoo had already suffered enough; she deserved to be free, to explore the world as long as she wanted to, to “live”. To be free, in this world. She once again felt the familiar warmth of tears, running down her face in a bitter cascade of sorrow and yearning.
And, as she brooded over her fault and meditated on their friendship, Lisa could have sworn she heard a voice. A familiar voice, that said, ‘It’s okay.’- even though there was nothing there.

Tempted to do another prompt request
Don’t know why, just curious if anyone wanted to request some prompts. Got a compilation of lists i’ve seen on here before I glance through randomly sometimes for ideas for my other rambles and series.
Mostly do
Hobbit/LotR - Modern au/regular
Marvel - Mostly Loki w/ others thrown in
Celebs - Richard Armitage, Lee Pace w/ Hobbit cast thrown in, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Holland w/ various Marvel actors thrown in
You can add in scenarios or random items or locations if you like too.
It can also be y/n style if you want, otherwise i’ll probably use a variant of my usual oc to put it all together. :D
Prompt List
1 “Fancy seeing you here.” “I work here.”
2 “Can I buy you a drink?”
5 “If I go through with this, I die. If I don’t, we all die.”
6 “No, no, you do NOT want me navigating. I’ll accidentally navigate us off a cliff.”
7 “Is that blood?” “No?” “That’s not a question you’re supposed to answer with another question.”
8 “This is all your fault.” “I hope so.”
9 “I’d rather be pecked to death by a flock of hummingbirds.”
10 “You have no power over me.” “You sure about that?”
11 “Hold on, you died.” “Yeah, well it didn’t stick.”
12 “Excuse me! I was a superhero for ten whole minutes!” “And in that time you got kidnapped and we had to come to the rescue”
13 “I am way too sober for this.”
14 “You’re not as evil as people think you are.” “No. I’m much worse.”
15 “Why do you keep risking your life? To prove a point?” “Yes.”
16 “That’s disgusting. You’re lucky you’re cute.”
17 “This plan of yours is going to get us killed. Of course, I’m in.”
18 “Can you please go be stupid somewhere that’s away from me?”
19 “Stop that!” “Stop what?” “Doing that thing with your face when you’re happy. It’s making me nauseous.”
20 “You can’t just turn into a bat and fly away when you don’t want to deal with things!” “Watch me!”
21 “Wait, you’re a superhero?” “How do you not know? My face is literally on the news on a weekly basis.” “I’m in grad school. I won’t have time to follow popular media until I finish my thesis. You’re lucky I’ve carved out some non-existent free time to date you.”
22 “I’m just really tired of watching you get thrown off the tops of buildings”
23 “Whether you believe in me or not, I will continue to exist.”
24 “I don’t care where I sleep, as long as it’s with you.”
25 “You’re a psychopath.” “I prefer creative.”
26 “I thought you forgot about me.” “Never.”
27 “I want to go home.” “And I want to go to the moon. It ain’t happening sweetheart. Time to accept that.”
29 “You really have no clue who I am?” “You’d think the confused looks and blank stare would have answered that for you.”
30 “Nope. I can’t go to hell. Satan still has a restraining order against me.”
31 “Well, what can I say? I’m a badass.”
32 “Define normal.”
33 “Do I get bonus points if I act like I care?”

37 “I’m listening to you. I’m just not paying attention.”
38 “Were you dropped on your head?”
39 “She’s crazy. And just when you think you’ve reached the bottom of her craziness, there’s a crazy underground garage.”
40 “She may seem like lollipops and rainbows but I bet behind close doors she’s latex and whips.”
41 “My middle finger salutes you.”
42 “This is a whole new level of moronic, even for you.”
43 “I don’t think I could ever stab someone. I mean, let’s be honest. I can barely get the straw in the Capri Sun.”
44 “I don’t have enough middle fingers to let you know how I feel.”
45 “Insanity runs in my family. It practically gallops.”
46 “Oh darling. Go buy a brain.”

49 “All due respect, but that’s a bunch of crap.”
50 “I am one of the few people in the world who can murder you and leave no forensic evidence behind.”
51 “Excuse me. I have to go make a scene.”

57 “I think you’re weird.” “I think you’re boring.”
58 “If history repeats itself, I am so getting a dinosaur.”
59 “You seem somewhat familiar. Have I threatened you before?”
60 “I’m afraid I’ve been thinking…” “A dangerous pastime.”
61 “I’d explain it to you, but you’re brain would explode.”
62 “Wow, there’s a big surprise. I think I’m going to have a heart attack and die from surprise.”
63 “I’m gonna hit you so hard, it’ll make you ancestors dizzy.”

81 “You’re insane, but you might also be brilliant.”
82 “What you call insanity, I call inspiration.”
83 “Sometimes I question my sanity. Occasionally it replies.”
84 “Why should we date?” “Because we are attracted to each other.” “I am attracted to pie, but I do not feel the need to date pie.”

125 “And just like everything else we do around here, it’s about to get weirder.”
126 “Such big evil in such a little thing.”
127 “Why do I still like you, knowing you’re a total asshole?”

251 “You’re never going to be the same after this.”
252 “I just think it’d be best if we never met.”
253 “I can’t believe you would even think to leave me like this.”
254 “You never loved me, did you?”
255 “It didn’t have to be like this, but now you’ve ruined everything.”
256 “I hope you’re happy.”
257 “If you had have kept your mouth shut, then he’d still- he’d still be here!”
258 “What did you want once this was all through? Tell me!”

260 “You could’ve- could’ve stayed. You could’ve helped me fix things.”
261 “I knew she’d never change, she was too stubborn, too similar to me.”

263 “I hope I’m not put in the same part of hell as you.”
264 “When did you think you could hurt me again? Today? Tomorrow?”
265 “You’re back in my life and I want to die again.”

271 “If only you knew what you’d brought upon yourself.”
272 “We’re never going to have a happy ending, just remember that.”
273 “Everytime something goes well, I momentarily forget how much I despise you.”
274 “Don’t pretend like you’re not happy to see me like this.”
275 “There is nothing worse than seeing you get what you want.”
276 “Your mind must be a horrible place.”
277 “You can cut me, bruise me and skin me alive, but you will not take her from me.”
278 “How is it that we always end up in this predicament?”
279 “I want to wipe that grin of your face with my sword, but my mother taught me to play nicely.”
280 “Did anyone ever tell you how pathetic you are? It’s incredible how low my standards are for you.”
281 “Ah, well if you want them back alive, I suggest you lay down your own life.”
282 “Don’t be ‘smart’. The battlefield is no place for Math Scholars.”
283 “You shouldn’t have come. You can’t be-”
284 “Stop talking or tomorrow won’t come.”

289 “I can’t help but think you’re a terrible person.”
290 “Seeing your face has unconventionally made me want to die. I wasn’t quite prepared for this feeling.”
291 “You could have loved me, I’m quite good at seducing, but you’re actually vile.”
292 “I hope I see you in a bodybag sometime.”
293 “Let’s pretend you didn’t cheat on me with my sister and be good people for a few minutes.”
294 “We should probably stop talking forever.”
295 “If I hated you anymore, I think I’d probably be crowned as satan’s right-hand man.”
296 “To say I ‘tolerate you’ is a vast overstatement.”
297 “You broke her heart and came back for more, you bastard.”
298 “This isn’t fifth grade, this is a courtroom, you whore.”
299 “I think you’d be the perfect match for my ex-husband. He loved to sleep with multiple people.”
300 “I’m not coming home, don’t look for me.”
301 “Time was always a measurement of this relationship and we finally ran out.”
302 “Please don’t look at me with such hatred.”
303 “I could’ve died and you couldn’t have cared less.”
304 “Just get out. I- I don’t want you hear, just leave.”
305 “You’re not the same person I married, don’t tell me I’m wrong.”
306 “I wish you wouldn’t beg for forgiveness, it has the opposite effect of what you want.”
307 “Don’t hate me for this. You would’ve done the same.”
308 “This could’ve been the end and you were ready to let me go.”
309 “You should’ve left me, you could never deserve the person I’ve become.”
310 “Hate me all you want. I know I’m right.”
311 “Today you broke my arm, I hope tomorrow it’s not my heart.”

315 “You are everything I hate, don’t ever come back.”
316 “Evil doesn’t come close.”
317 “Your wrongdoings are becoming your pastimes.”
318 “I wish you had of just done it for the thrill of it, but now you’re in deep shit.”
319 “Next time, I won’t be here to salvage your wreckage. This is the last time.”
320 “You should have ruined me when you had the chance.”
321 “No one will keep your name alive. Once you’re gone, everything you once stood for disappears too.”
322 “Don’t pretend you haven’t thought about your life without me.”
323 “This is always how it ends.”
324 “Break my heart once more, I dare you.”
325 “Forget how you loved me once, I mean nothing now.”
326 “This isn’t Romeo and Juliet, this is real life and I can go on without you.”
327 “You don’t own me, I don’t belong to you.”
328 “I should’ve died. That would’ve made you happy.”
329 “Are we going to carry on like this or are you going to give him back to me.”
330 “She drowned and he lost his mind.”
321 “We shouldn’t. You’re married and I’m pregnant.”
332 “You’ve never been loved, I can tell.”
333 “Who told you I needed fixing and what made you believe them?”
334 “You’re almost as far-gone as I am.”
335 “Maybe it’s best that we don’t go home.”
336 “Roaming the streets was never safe for her. What makes you think it’s different for you?”
337 “I think you’re going to ruin me. Am I right?”
338 “Do you remember our last feud? I wouldn’t want someone to lose their life again, would you?”
339 “Kiss me quick and leave them be.”
340 “I hate seeing you so sad. It’s just so dramatic how humans show emotions and being sad is such a boring one.”
341 “Will you ever forget my number? No? Ah, because you still love me.”
342 “After the funeral, let’s surrender.”
343 “What made you think I cared for you?”
344 “It’ll be fun explaining this to your sister. I hope she likes horror stories.”
345 “Don’t act as if we’re friends. I know how much you want to slit my throat.”
346 “Let’s not get angry. Let’s calmly and sensibly take this outside so I can ruin your face.”
347 “Please ruin yourself for me and I’ll watch in adoration as I fall apart as well.”
Already requested – but still requestable
3 “Right now, I don’t know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge” “Can I pick?”
4 “You know what they say, panicking burns a shit-ton of calories.” “Who even says that?” “Me. Just now.”
28 “Sometimes, memories are the worst torture.”
119 “Ah, he’s playing hard-to-get. That’s cute.”
185 “Be with me.”
186 “I’m vulnerable around you, and it only gets worse when you smile.”
190 “I’m surrendering myself to you; body and soul. What more do you want?”
214 “Please, just… touch me.”
348 “Are you SURE I can’t punch him in the face?” “Yes.” “What if I break his nose a little?”
349 “Show me your scars.” “But… why?” “I want to see how many times you needed me and I wasn’t there.”
350 “She’s my best friend. That hasn’t changed.” “It’s clear your feelings for her has.”
351 “Did you just… agree with me?” “Oh, I wish I could take-““Nope! You said it! No take-backs!”
352 “I think I’m having a feeling. How do I make it stop?”
353 “Don’t mind me, I’ll just be in the corner having another existential crisis.”
354 “I’m trying to have a serious conversation with you!” “And I’m trying to subtly avoid it!”
355 “You don’t strike me as a professional criminal.” “That’s what makes me so good at it.”
356 “It’s a good thing you’re cute when you’re angry.”
357 “What are you afraid of?” “You.”
358 “I don’t give a damn.” “You give so many damns they’re visible from SPACE.”
359 “It’s a long story” “You conned me into thinking you were dead for eleven months. I have time.”
360 “Unless I screw this up again, I’m going to marry you.” “Well you better not mess this up”
361 “Hey, I didn’t kill anyone today!” “What do you want? A gold star.”
362 “I feel like I’m being stabbed.” “How do you even know what it feels like to be stabbed?”
363 “What now?” “I don’t know. I thought the jump would kill us.”
364 “I saved your life.” “You pushed me off a building.”
365 “How do we keep getting into these situations?” “Eleven years of friendship and I still don’t know.”
366 “We’re leaving.” “But they have a lobster tank in their basement.”
367 “Take my hand.” “Why?” “I’m trying to ask you to marry me, so take my damn hand!”
368 “You look…” “Beautiful, I know. Can we move on?”
369 “I’m fine.” “You don’t look fine.” “Then stop looking.”
370 “You gotta stop doing that.” “What?” “Saying things that make me wanna kiss you.”
371 “I think that you’re not as dark as you want people to believe.”
372 “I hate you.” “Why? I’m lovely.”
373 “Why are they afraid of you?”
374 “Literally everything about this is illegal.”
375 “You love her don’t you?” “Was it that obvious?”
376 “Why me?” “Because you saw me when I was invisible.”
377 “I was just kind of hoping that you’d, y’know…. fall in love with me.”
378 “It’s okay. You don’t have to love me.”
379 “You know, no one bothered me this much when I was dead.”
380 “Only a fool would fall in love with someone as deadly as me.”
381 “I’d know that smirk anywhere.”
382 “I love you. You enormously stubborn pain in the ass.”
383 “Just remember if we get caught, you’re deaf and I don’t speak English.”
384 “Don’t look for any redeeming qualities. I don’t have any.”
385 “If my day gets any worse, I’m asking hell if they’re having an exchange program.”
386 “If I survive, can I go home?”
387 “That’s a little melodramatic, don’t you think?”
388 “You didn’t get in trouble for lying. You got in trouble for lying badly.”
389 “You’re good. A monster pain in the ass… but you’re good.”
390 “Neither one us is drunk enough for this conversation.”
391 “The universe may not always play fair, but at least it’s got a hell of a sense of humor.”
392 “My advice is much more subtle. Stop being an ass.”
