Hadn't realised this yet, but It's Amazing To Be Young coming right after Favourite is an insane move from Fontaines D.C. A beautiful song about loving your friends and then a beautiful song about being happy in the moment creates a sense of being happy with what you've got because, just for a moment, you don't ignore your troubles, but, instead, they are overshadowed by the beauty of the world. Which is why I love Romance, especially after an album as depressing (and rightfully so, I mean, fuck colonizers and greed) as Skinty Fia. What I mean is that it creates a feeling of nostalgia but without that sadness, but rather, the acceptance of the fact that you can't go back. What's done is done, and all we have is what's in front of us. But maybe I am indeed a pragmatic romantic (in the wider sense of the word) that's supposed to be living those years due to their age. It comes at a time of acceptance and slight numbness, at least for me, during which I've just let my brain float around. I guess that's why Romance sort of resonates with me despite never having been involved in romance. I am angry about the state of the world, but it's still a beautiful place.
