Not to be autistic on main or anything but I think a lot of the people who mock tone indicators and talk about how unhelpful and stupid they are forget that. They are helpful for some people (me) who use them constantly because I cannot for the life of me convey my tone over text and they help me understand the tone of other people as well. Even if you're autistic and you personally don't use them or don't find them helpful there's tons of people in your community who do use them and find them helpful and idk. It just feels very mean spirited and kind of nasty to mock something that people genuinely find helpful just because you don't use them. Like its great that you don't need them but they're an accessibility tool and they help me out a lot. It's weird that you need to go out of your way to talk about how you don't use them so that means they're stupid and don't make any sense. It gets to a point where you're mocking the autistic people who do find them helpful and that's. Not great

I liked the sketch but questioned my life a lot trying to execute the details of the design. And I’m still figuring out what I want to do with colors when I do use them, so until then everyone gets to be in the Gray Void LOL

But despite my complaining nothing is more fun than indulging your own niche interests, highly recommend ❤️💛 I STILL need to do some dance poses though

People joke about ADHD all the time, even swear up and down they totally think they also have it, but then if you ask for an accommodation, to please please please provide things in fucking writing, EXACTLY what they want and need, you will even work it out WITH them, like they promised they would do — repeatedly over and over, and then you don't get it people really will fucking be like:

I am using the incorrect bathroom (TM) to place my shelving and store my things. Homegirl literally removed various sundries and toiletries from a CLOSED CABINET and SHELF because she's interested in boundaries and accountability for my mess.

I said months ago I wanted to improve things for her comfort level and needed a written list of what precisely that fucking looked like in order to achieve it and not miss anything she deemed important. I explained how ADHD works, why I needed a written reference. Why I had to have it laid out, and if something needed changing we needed to write it all out. I would've made the list myself, but they said they would make it for the whole house to hold up their end of things. And, thinking this was a very reasonable adult solution to keeping the house in good shape, I said okay, come up with the list of expectations and what is needed and that way we can update how we handle chores. Awesome. I will do that to uphold my end.

No list ever gets made or drafted or anything despite my bringing it up, knowing we need to do it, but I DO get berated for failing to meet expectations and boundaries that were never fucking provided or delivered and include "don't store toiletries in this particular bathroom because I don't like it."

I can't believe I am a goddamn adult who gets treated like an idiot child for expecting adult communication instead of snide ass passive aggressive bullshit and basic respect for my things.

Because when I fucking get home, my shelving has been removed and a cabinet emptied of my things and placed in the "correct" bathroom.

Ooof. Therapy, probably. To go back and... not so much re-imagine my earlier mistakes so that they don't play out that way, but to play out those memories in order to be able to talk to my younger self with the wisdom of my older self, as she is making those mistakes, and as things are happening to her. I mean, not to get too serious of anything, but I'd like to use it to give her, that younger version of me, support that no one else gave her when she needed it. Forgiveness for the choices she made when things were out of her control; to be the adult in the room.

Alternatively and much more likely, I'd use it to build my dream house (a giant ass treehouse that I'd never have the money for and that would probably defy the laws of physics) and just chill in there. That would be dope af.

random pet peeve of mine: if you're going to write text messages in your story, write them like texts, not dialogue! there is a whole other system of expression and convention and potential characterization that people use while texting, and you're probably very familiar with it, and its so interesting! but if you write it like dialogue, with ellipses for hesitation or interrupting yourself mid sentence bc you regretted what you were saying (rather than either taking the time to edit or sending too quickly and regretting it), you're breaking the realism of your writing and sacrificing the unique interesting things that come with texting.
