dio’s big list of murder drone theories

so hi. it’s me dio. i’ve been cookin a bunch of theories i think you guys will like so I’m gonna masterlist em here. these range from “serious” to “crack” so be warned (nothing extreme dw)

Nori will be french (Semi-Serious)

Evidence gathered -

1. In episode 2, Khan holds up a manual that has 3 languages; Russian, English, and French. These can be linked to Yeva, Alice, and by proxy, Nori.

2. The colors of the French flag, red, blue and white, make what? Purple.

3. As seen in the 7&8 teasers, there is a secret underground cathedral. Cathedrals are French architecture. Perfect to experiment on a FRENCH drone, don’t you think?

4. The French love pissing off the English. Like how Nori pissed off Alice. Coincidence? I think not.

5. Russia, France and the USA happen to be world superpowers. Hm.. powers.. like the solver.

Foreign Accent Syndrome & The Solver (Not expecting it to be canon)

Evidence gathered/Reasoning -

Alice could suffer from foreign accent syndrome (shortened to FAS) , a condition where it makes the afflicted person speak in a completely different accent in their native language. Linked to brain damage and strokes, the disease is thought to sever connects to the part of the brain that controls your lip movements, thus giving you a different accent.

67% percent of people who suffer from FAS are women, like a majority of the solver users, and we know the solver is notorious for messing with people’s brain. A lot of Russian viewers have pointed out Doll’s bad accent (which I’m well aware is just the VA not natively speaking Russian, but hear me out!) Doll has an American accent due to FAS and the solver messing with her brain.

Thad being the solver’s “spy” (Semi-Serious)

Evidence gathered/Reasoning

1. Consistent purple headlights in episode 4

2. Lack of vocal interactions

3. Eldritch J afflicting him (cannot be good)

With Doll and Uzi down deep under the surface, the solver has no one of the surface in order to do.. whatever. Not sure yet, but it seems like it choose Thad, possibly due to a closeness with N and Uzi. Whatever he has, it cannot result in him being normal in any way whatsoever. I just refuse to believe it. Interestingly, he also happens to be named after a disciple of Jesus who warns of heretics and is literally the patron symbol of hope.

The cross (Serious)

Evidence gathered/Reasoning-

The cross in the episode 7 teaser everyone is going crazy for, I know! But it being upside down will not necessarily represent an evil. Instead-

- A cross upside down is representative of St. Peter, who requested to be crucified upside down because he did not feel worthy of dying the same way as Jesus.

- An upside down crucifix, however does actually represent the devil, and would represent the solver in this case. The key difference is that a crucifix has Jesus’s body on the cross.

Uzi is clearly holding a cross due to the lack of Jesus. This makes me believe that she herself doesn’t feel worthy of something; my top pick is she doesn’t feel worthy of sacrificing herself for the better of Copper-9 and the universe, and gives into the solver as a result.

JCJenson is cover-up business for a cult (Serious)

Evidence gathered/reasoning -

1. Humans are not too concerned with events surrounding the solver- in fact, they seem content being around it. Tessa seems to be the only one to care.

2. JCJenson products and products of Cyn/Solver share a lot of characteristics

3. A very cult like area sitting under JCJenson labs is very suspicious

My best guess here is that JCJenson summoned the solver for money/power in exchange for giving the solver test subjects and sacrifices such as Nori and Yeva so that they can grow. However, the cult slowly began to corrupt the company until they became just a cover up- quickly switching to space travel to help spread the solver while still advancing their robotics. The Elliot’s were possibly a family who disliked this idea and made special leaps to make sure the solver didn’t infect their house; which failed, just look at episode 5.

Final Destination & an actual true important death (Serious)

Evidence Gather/Reasoning -

Final destination is a movie trilogy that is notoriously famous for having gruesome deaths and how attempt to escape death is futile. Since other episodes have been based off other horror flicks/tropes (I.E, episode 2 was based off Alien, episode 3 Carrie, episode 4 any slasher flick ever, etc) I believe someone important will “die” this episode and in a gruesome manner. J? Doll? Uzi? N? Fucking Khan? Who knows!

Teacher affiliated with the solver (Crack)

1. Orange eyes, like Alice had, suggests he was affected by the solver at one point

2. Wayy different from other worker drones, who are at most optimistic about death and at their worst having a panic attack. He simply does not care. About anything.

3. Knew something was up with Uzi before her solver was even revealed

4. Only worker drone who’s seen on screen drinking. Even if it’s just an alcoholic drink, we know drones can’t drink anything other than oil and batteries, so what’s in there?

5. No where to be seen during episode 4, considering he would have been an easy target for Uzi

Completely crack, I just like this theory cause it seems so out of place and different. I reviewed some cursive on the clipboard and apparently, his name might be Lu/Lou or some variant, maybe even Liam? Who knows it’s fucking funny lol

Shuri looked at you, pausing for a second, an amused smile creeping up on her face as she slowly chuckled but then stopped to look at your face again. Once she realized you were serious, her face slowly dropped.

You stepped back slightly, your awkward smile dropping as well once you realized.

"You don't want the baby..?" You ask, your voice lowering into a whisper as she walked towards you, placing a hand on your shoulder.

"No, no I do. Trust me, I do. I just wasn't expecting…especially since it's been our first time in 4 years.." She looked off to the side but you're still staring her dead in the eye before you raised an eyebrow.

"No." You say out as you break free from her hold, walking away from the bathroom and into the bedroom, Shuri following you confused.

"What do you mean no? Do you want the baby?"

"I was stabbed. In my stomach." You turned around to face her. "The baby should not have made it…neither should I.." You paused, doing calculations in your head as your eyebrows furrowed, your eyes on the ground. Then you paused in your tracks, looking up at Shuri. "What did you do?"

Shuri let out an awkward chuckle, looking at you with an eyebrow raised. "What?"

"When you were operating on me, the surgery, you were informed of an internal disturbance in my womb, I know this..I've performed this surgery millions of times." You built the system to help better surgery for pregnant women 8 years back, and it's been the default surgery system used in Wakanda ever since.

"You knew."

Your hands balled into a fist as Shuri looked at you defeated.

"Y/N…let me explain."

"Go on. Explain." Your face was heating up as you looked at Shuri. She purposefully left the baby in you, didn't tell you for HOW many weeks after the surgery, and then had the audacity to act shocked when you informed her of the news.

"During surgery, we were informed of the baby but we didn't know it was a baby, you were 3 weeks at the time and it was an embryo…I also thought that it was the tether…like you told me so I..left it."

"But you were informed of the possibility of a pregnancy yes?" You ask, narrowing your eyes on her.

"Yes but I didn't think you were that fertile. I mean we only had sex one time and I didn't think you'd get pregnant from it…"

"Yea, well neither did I.." You sighed, turning away to face your body mirror in your room, folding your arms. You saw her walk up behind you and wrap her arms around your waist.

"Alright. I'm sorry…do you want the baby?" You felt her breath on your neck as you looked over at her.

"I'm already into my 2nd month anyway…" You muttered under your breath as you felt her smile.

"How about this," She spoke as her hands roamed your body. "I still want you to be my queen Y/N…I promise, I'll do everything right this time." Her hands trailed over to your stomach and you pondered. "I'll protect you…and serve you, and the baby."

You weren't sure, I mean, this is Shuri and you've been in this boat before. You sigh, looking off to the side as she frowned.

"Come on baby, I'll…" She sighed, letting go of you and walking in front of you, placing her finger under your chin to turn your face to face her. "I swear on everything. You and this baby are all I have left.."

"You have Nakia and Okoye…and T'Challa."

Her mood soured for a bit before it softened again once your eyes met. "You know what I mean. I want to do what I should've done 4 years ago. I promise, it's just you and me. No one else."

"Except for the baby."

"What do you say?"

You never expected this mission to turn into a love story but you should've known better. I mean you're coming back home, to the only woman…only person who's ever touched you sexually. You were expecting a hookup, just not a pregnancy.

"Shuri."

"Hm..?" She hummed in response, her face now in the crook of your neck, one of her fingers playing with your curls, the other holding you tightly by the waist.

"If…I stay with you….promise not to do anything stupid." You looked down, your eyes wandering for a minute as you bit your lip. You had a feeling something or someone bad was about to happen. "This is your last chance…our last chance."

"I promise." ▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱

You walked through the hall, your arms folded. You were dressed in all white, your hair pulled back in a slick bun. The events of this morning were just dawning in your head as you looked out of the tall windows.

Suddenly a woman bumped into you harshly, causing you to almost stumble over and fall on your belly. Luckily, you caught yourself just in time. You looked around angrily as the woman kept walking.

"Hey! Were you raised in a barn or what?!"

She suddenly stopped in her tracks and turned around as your face dropped.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

"Malia.." you seethed. You lunged at her but she quickly dodged and grabbed your arm. You got out of her grip, backing away as you remember your pregnancy. "What the hell are you doing here?!"

"Were you not informed? I live here." She smiled cockily as your eyes widened.

"What?!"

"Wakanda and Talokan are now allies, in case you missed that when you know, you blacked out." She giggled at her own joke but she was the only one laughing.

"Get out." You firmly stated as she looked at you with big eyes and then shook her head sharply.

"No, I think I'll stay actually. Shuri offered me a home here and it would probably be in your best interest to keep peace with me, after all, you were the one who cause this."

Your mind raced back to the battlefield where you vividly remember your blow to her stomach causing her miscarriage. She walked closer to you, whispering in your ear.

"I'd watch your back if I were you…and your belly." She walked off as you felt your fists ball up in rage. ▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱

"SHURI! EVERYBODY GET OUT! SHURI!" You stormed into the lab, screaming as the people there scrambled out like your orders. You raced up the stairs as Shuri rushed to you, looking concerned.

"Ay! Baby calm down, why are you screaming?! Stress isn't good for the baby.." She reached out to touch your stomach as you scoffed.

"Don't 'baby' me! When were you planning on telling me that your ex lived here?!"

She sighed, looking at you. "Usana, Wakanda and Talokan are allies now…Namor, he suggested that it'd be best for Malia to live here until the funeral."

You raised an eyebrow, squinting your eyes. "Funeral for what exactly?"

"The…baby of course." She reached a hand to your shoulder. "We also have unsettled wars with the U.S and some eastern countries. She's going to be a valuable asset in battle. I offered her a home here."

"Shuri-"

"I know, but she won't hurt you, I promise."

"You can't assure that." You say under your breath, looking to the side.

"I doubt she's looking for vengeance…I mean, it's not like you killed her baby or anything." She chuckled, looking at you but you slowly turned to her, your eyes widened, your face horrified and in a panic.

"What do you know..?" You sharply voice out, causing her worry, concern and confusion to rise again.

"What?" She asked, confused.

"WHAT DID YOU SEE? WHAT DID YOU HEAR? WHAT DO YOU KNOW?!" You shout at her, terrified she knew something.

"Y/N-"

"WHY ARE YOU ACCUSING ME OF SOMETHING I DIDN'T DO, I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME!" Her hands hold you as she tries to calm you down.

"Baby, calm down, no one is accusing you-"

"NO!" You raise a hand to her, your stress level increasing drastically. "NO!" You walk backwards, the panicked look still on your face, stumbling over a stair.

"Careful! You might hurt yourself!"

You turn around quickly and race down the stairs and out of the lab. ▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱

"And she was panicked, the minute I mentioned the baby…like she knew something.." You heard Shuri talk to Okoye through the walls. You were currently in bed, laying down, a nollywood movie playing on the tv. She made you rest in bed and she got you tea and cookies so decrease your stress. She wasn't lying when she said she was taking this pregnancy more seriously than the last.

"My queen, maybe something happened on the battlefield." Okoye replied.

You turned the volume all the way up so you didn't hear them talking from behind the door. After a few minutes, Shuri walked back into the room, and joined you in bed, wrapping an arm around you.

"Are you alright now baby?" She looked at you but you kept your eyes glued on the screen, only nodding and humming in response.

She used her finger to make you turn to face her and raised an eyebrow. "Use your words entle."

"I'm fine now" You say as she kissed your cheek gently.

"Good…what was that all about in the lab?" She looked at you with concern as you looked away, biting your cheek.

"I just had a threatening encounter with Malia…is all."

The minute you said that, Shuri sat up, alarmed.

"She threatened you?!"

"No, no…nevermind, let's just enjoy ourselves and watch the movie.." You trace her tattoos, causing her to slightly calm down and lower herself into the bed as you sighed. You had to keep this a secret, meaning you had to get rid of Malia. ▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱

"What do you want?" You ask as a woman appeared out of the trees, smiling at you. It was Malia.

You were currently in one of the jungles in Wakanda where she asked you to meet, at night…the only light being a burning fire.

"I want my life back, my baby back, my wife back." She spat at you, walking closer as you folded your arms, standing your ground.

"And I want my father back but we all can't get what we want."

Malia paused as she thought, looking down on your belly and then at you. "I heard what Shuri said that day, how she'd kill whoever killed my baby."

You froze, remembering it as well.

"My people call me T'aan asesina, killer voice. Siren" She whispered to you as she pulled back, causing your eyes to meet with hers. "Either you hand it over or I will take it from you."

"What are you referring to?"

"You know." And with that, she left, leaving you alone. ▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱

Shuri was placing hot kisses on your neck as she fixed you on her lap. Her hands trailed under your shirt as you moaned, moving your head to the side to give her better access as she sucked on your sweet spot.

"Ohhh…" You moaned into her ear as you moved your hips back and forth against her. She was about to unclip your bra when loud banging on the throne room's door interrupted both of you. You quickly got off her, readjusting your outfit as the door swung open, causing Shuri to sigh and you to sit down.

It was already 1:15 and elders entered the room all sitting down in the throne room. The Dora entered behind them, surrounding the room as everyone turned to you and Shuri.

"So after your first baby failed, you decided to make another one huh? What is this? A make-a-baby factory?!" An elder remarked as Shuri sighed.

"Zami!" Another elder said, reaching out to slap his hand. "Have some respect, this is our queen you are ordering around!"

"No! This is a young woman who does not know how to rule properly. Shuri's romantic life is interfering with Wakanda! She has to understand that she is now a ruler with responsibilities. Now we're supposed to welcome a child who's parents aren't even married? What kind of-"

"I understand your concerns." Shuri cut him off, causing everyone in the room to look at her surprised, even you. "What happened with Malia will never happen again. It was just a minor setback for a major comeback. Talokan and Wakanda, as you all know are allies now and we'll need all the help we can get if we want to win the upcoming war with the white people."

"You know how sneaky they are…" Another elder said as Shuri nodded, continuing.

"Which is why I have arranged for Malia, as well as some other people from Talokan, excluding Namor, to stay here but I can assure you, everything is taken care of, business only. We will need the brightest people in the lab and the strongest on the battlefield, unfortunately, the war is not over yet."

The elders in the room nodded and she continued.

"As for Y/N, I plan on marrying her and making her my queen. You all with treat her and our baby with utmost respect, is that understood?" She says sternly as everyone in the room replied with "yes my queen." Shuri nodded, putting her hand up. "You are all dismissed. I've addressed all your concerns, yes?"

You couldn't help but be caught by surprise when Shuri mentioned marriage. As the room cleared out, you turned to her. "Did you really mean what you said when you said you'd marry me?"

"I meant everything I said Y/N…especially that. I'm just trying to be your everything." She took your hand in hers and kissed it softly. "I love you…and I know I've done things and said even worse but I never meant that, I swear. I would nev-"

You cut her off, planting a soft kiss on her lips. "It's alright. I don't mean what I said too." You pressed your forehead against hers as she hoisted you onto her lap, raising an eyebrow, a smirk forming on her lips.

Garcia stilled, sharing a glance with Reid, both of them panting on the turf. 

“What?” Reid said.

Garcia sat up higher as Morgan continued. “Yeah, Baby Girl, think about it - you’re not even in the field.” 

Morgan nodded over at Reid. “And Pretty Ricky, you already got enough case hours to qualify.” Reid slowly looked over at Garcia, who mirrored his incredulity. 

Morgan chuckled with a grin. “This was just a good time for me,” Morgan said.

“I’m gonna kill him,” Garcia stated quietly.

“If I can manage to lift my arms, I’ll hold him down.”

“I’m regaining strength.”

Morgan, still wearing a shit eating grin, keeps talking. “I told you you should have said something -” Garcia begins to rise up unsteadily to her feet. 

“ - I said - Hey, uh-uh hey -” Morgan moves back, suddenly realizing he’s about to be attacked. “Oh, oh oh,” Morgan bounces back on the turf dodging out of the way of Garcia’s swinging arms, as she charges him, Reid close behind once he stumbles upright. “You’re gettin it now!” Garcia growls at him, but she’s grinning too.

Morgan runs backwards shuffling out of the way again with Garcia in hot pursuit, yelling at him all the while.

Reid runs up, cutting Morgan off from his escape, and Morgan dives to the side to get away. “Get him!”

Morgan rolls between the two of them, misjudging his momentum and ending on his back as the two agents clamber on top of him.

“I’m gonna kill you!” Garcia yells.

Reid hits him in the leg, as Garcia goes straight for his ribs, digging and causing Morgan to flinch with a laugh.

“Oh, you like that,” Reid asks playfully, digging in behind his knees himself.

Morgan guffaws, attempting to shove them off, but to no avail, the two demons beginning their merciless attacks, strength restored.

“AHahaha, Ehehehehe!”

“How about here, huh? Huh?” Garcia scribbles on his stomach through his shirt, and Derek practically yips, before dissolving into giggles.

“Nahahaha Babe- ehehehe baby girl, dohohon’t!”

“Ohhh what the big bad Derek Morgan can’t take some tickling?!” Reid teased.

“Youhuhu’re the one to tahahahalk!”

“Oooo that is it,” Reid pulled himself up closer to Morgan’s hips.

“Get him Reid, make him eat his words!”

“No - nononono - do not, Reid, Reheheid I swear - Dah - DOHOHOHON’T!” 

Reid barely wasted a glance at Morgan, sealing his impending doom with sharp squeezes to his hips, relentless and quick.

Morgan was in hysterics. Garcia, teasing at his neck and collarbones, while Reid switched back and forth from his hips to digging in between his ribs. The Good Doctor sure knew his way around bones.

“Yeild!” Morgan shouted, “I yield, I yield!”

Garcia and Reid slowed their fingers, and got up. “Think he learned his lesson?” Reid asked Garcia, the two looking down at the still panting substitute trainer. 

“Oh yeah, he’s not gonna try anything.” 

Morgan looked at them from his spot on the ground, sitting up. “You… have ten seconds to run.”

“Spoke too soon!” Garcia and Reid raced off, Morgan chuckling at them before pushing himself to his feet. He shook his head with a mirthful huff, jogging after them. He’d catch up eventually.

I have been binging Criminal Minds for the past 3 months, watching it for the first time, and was inspired to write this Drabble, seeing the out scene of that episode. Too perfect of a setup to pass up! 🧡

goslings: I still have yet to see half Nelson but Dan is definitely a character I don't think I would have even looked at if not for sascha and his amazing henry/Dan stuff!

baldurs gate: fandom has taken me from hating gale to being neutral on him tbh. he's. okay I guess

goslings: I love my richard/henry series so much. they're both such weird characters and they go together So Well, I love them, and I have a lot of fun writing them!!

baldurs gate: honestly I love everything I've written for astarion but I Especially love one I'm working on for ascended astarion and my terrible bard guy. it's awful and I'm having a blast

16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate

saltburn: spoilers but. the fact that Felix looks at Oliver's lips in that one close shot in the maze. the fact that Oliver is petting his face with his thumb in the shadow of his cheek. also Oliver baring his teeth when he's silhouetted with farleigh hoooogh

goslings: not technically a character thing but the fact that ryan gosling has called himself 49% woman. I love him. also listen to Dead Man's Bones

24. how has fandom positively impacted your life?

man I could go on forever about how almost all of my friends have been met through fandom, or how I write every day because of it, or how I'm actually like learning and getting better at drawing because I want to draw certain things

fandom has also done a lot of bad for me in the form of being subjected to shitty takes and meeting a few awful people but for the most part like. I would probably not have otherwise found a sense of community anywhere else because I've been so socially reclusive my whole life

this is a random question lol, but what are your thoughts on "Old Dog, New Tricks" and Chris Colfer as a writer (based on it)?

We love random questions around here!

Gonna be honest with you, I haven't seen that episode in full in over two years and it's gonna be another year before I get to it on my rewatch at this rate, so unfortunately I don't think I can go into a ton of detail. As in, a full analysis of Chris as a writer. But dw I won't just leave it at that I do have some thoughts.

I recently heard 5x19 be referred to as a low-rated and badly received episode, which I found curious. I'm not sure by what metric that is but especially by standards of that era of the show I consider it to be quite solid. I don't have strong feelings about the main plots of the nursing home play and the dogs as like, a base concept. Most things depend on execution and it was executed well enough. I wonder what parameters he was given, what could happen what couldn't, but as far as penultimate episodes of seasons go it's pretty much your standard slice of life stakes-wise.

What I can talk about more in-depth and what directly related to Chris as a writer is the character moments he included. At the very least and off the top of my head, there are 3-4 great character moments that tell me Chris paid attention to this cast of characters and took care to keep whatever shred of continuity Glee was still hanging onto at that point. Frankly, Chris seems to have cared more for these characters than the actual writers' room did in these late seasons.

What I'm talking about in particular are these details:

Kurt, obviously. It's understandable that Chris wrote an episode with a major Kurt plot and it was a breath of fresh air to focus on him separate from the main group, even if only for a beat. Two standout moments are a) him standing up to/calling out Rachel, which actually leads somewhere unlike it often does in NYC. See my second bullet point. And b), even more importantly and in a detail that so often lacks from the series, Kurt talking about his mother to Maggie's daughter. Such a small scene in the grand scheme of things but very poignant and the one I remember the most from this episode (sans Santana). That moment really made me go "oh Chris gets Kurt." He cares about this character enough to pay attention to this, imo, crucial detail.

Rachel's is a smaller one but also on two fronts, one on the Kurt of it all and like I said in the way that she actually goes to support him and concedes to be a more supportive friend. This is a lesson Rachel learns a lot but this is among the better executions of it. And the second is her general arc of at least trying to do good things because they're good and not just for optics. Shame this sentiment is limited to this one episode.

Santana! Of course, my beloved. Chris Colfer singlehandedly gave me PR Santana, who I hold onto dearly and fight in the name of, against all the lawyer Santana stuff. It was a great direction for her character to take and I'm grateful Chris gave us this, even if we never hear from PR Santana again. More thoughts on PR Santana here. The Pezberry shenanigans are also great. And we have a detail here, too, with the brilliant Santana line "in high school ... I was voted best shoulder to cry on and most likely to poison someone", which tells me that Chris gets Santana, too. Love that. God the feels I have about that line lol.

I also have to shout out the Sam stuff, maybe not in general because frankly I don't remember but at least one detail. Chris seemed to be the only writer to remember season 2 Sam and the way he was working hard to protect and support his family, and the impact that must have had on him. Later seasons lean into Sam the himbo, but, tbh, not in a way I find particularly charming just because they really emphasize his... carelessness, I guess. His immaturity, that's a better word. So he's not the himbo from season 2 but someone a lot less capable and more of a caricature version than he used to be, and that's not the direction in which it should go. BUT, that said, Chris takes the time to examine this with Sam and takes care to remember how Sam had to grow up too quickly, how he did have to be mature before. I don't think it goes anywhere but that's on Glee much more than it is on one-off episode writer Chris Colfer.

Writing characters well has been my primary focus for as long as I have been looking at media critically and Chris Colfer succeeded on that front for sure. These are the main things I remember from the episode and the main aspects of it that make me look back on Chris' writing fondly.

I've been meaning to check out Chris' books or just anything from him as a writer because I am curious. In interviews, he's always so quick-witted and good with words. The main thing, apart from Old Dogs, that I think about in terms of Chris as a writer is his Variety tribute piece to Naya. It's not only a heartwarming (and -wrenching) piece but damn you can tell the man's a writer. A good one, at that. He just has that instinct, based on this piece. Where the words flow and the arc of what he's saying makes sense on a deeper level. So yeah I'm curious, and maybe I'll rewatch Old Dogs earlier than planned just to view it from that perspective this time around.

OKAY ALRIGHT LET'S DO THIS (in no particular order)

JK ROWLING IS STINKY 🤬🤬🤬

But I love Remus Lupin. And I love the aesthetic of this movie. And I LOVE werewolves. Professor Lupin is one of THE BEST characters in the entire Harry Potter franchise and I just think he deserves more hype and he's really cool and idk I get nostalgic about this movie and it's definitely a comfort movie for me.

Just this entire franchise. And the Hobbit movies. My Dad has always been a BIG Tolkien fan so I was raised on LOTR and went to see the Hobbit movies in theatres when they first came out (I saw the first one 3 or 4 times, I was OBSESSED). BEFORE ANYONE COMES AT ME I'VE ALSO READ THE BOOKS I READ THEM IN GRADE 3 I KNOW THE LORE DW 🙏. I'm a sucker for fantasy (hence my current dnd obsession lol) and the world of these films is just so immersive and breathtakingly beautiful that I can't help but consider them my favourites, even if it's been years since I've watched them cohesively. ALSO THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD. I'LL LISTEN TO THE LOTR SOUNDTRACK ANY DAY.

Again. THE MUSIC.

Andrew Garfield was SO GREAT in this, and I personally connected to it a lot as a songwriter myself. That being said, this movie makes me SOB EVERY SINGLE TIME. Jonathan Larson was truly a talent and it's such a shame his life ended as early as it did. So glad he lives on through his art, and so glad that he was able to make such a huge impact on people with what he created. (Also fun fact I'm going to see Rent in a few weeks)

IT STARTED AS A BIT IT WAS A JOKE

Word of advice: if you ever think to yourself, "Hey. It'd be silly if I kept suggesting to watch that one Adam Sandler Halloween movie whenever my family asks for movie suggestions despite the fact that it isn't Halloween anymore and it's not that good of a movie- DON'T. DO IT.

Hubie Halloween is my comfort movie now. I don't rewatch movies and tv shows a lot, but I've seen this one probably 5 times in the last few months. It's just a silly little Halloween movie, but I sort of started to appreciate it more after realizing "HEY THAT GUY IN THE TIN MAN COSTUME IS WILL BYERS!!!" Although most of the media I find myself drawn to is more complex and explores the intricacies of how humanity functions, this movie somehow grew on me. My family references it constantly, and every time we play Jackbox games, half of the quiplash answers are just "Hubie". Overall I just think this movie is funny, quirky, subverts expectations in silly ways, and is a nice lighthearted watch compared to my other favourites.

My final movie on this list isn't ACTUALLY a movie but I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

MIDNIGHT MASS IS MY FAVOURITE SHOW. EVER. OF ALL TIME.

The music??? Immaculate. THE ACTING??? Immaculate. THE WRITING??? Immaculate (although there are a lot of monologues which can be a lot for some people, but as a theatre kid I REALLY appreciated them).

I've rewatched this show 2 1/2 times now and I'm just so in love with it. It's horror, but it doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares and many of the cheaper tactics some horror movies use nowadays. It's way more focused on its ensemble cast and developing good characters and storytelling. Sure, it starts off a bit slow, but the emotional payoff in the final two episodes is SO. WORTH IT.

Hamish Linklater as Father Paul is just... Awesome. RAHUL KOHLI AS HASSAN??? SO GOOD??? THIS ENTIRE CAST IS SO TALENTED and the way they play their characters is so raw and compelling and human.

Ryan Bergara was so right when he listed Father Paul as a poor little meow meow on Tumblr Top 5 HE SO IS AND I LOVE HIM FOR THAT. Anyway if you wanna see a new take on some classic horror tropes, commentary on the meaning of life and what happens after it, and some really good acting just... Please watch this. It definitely destroys your soul and makes you think but it's so good and the aesthetic is just... Mmmm.

okay but so true bestie 😭 13 is NOT the longest running doctor (counting eps) but yaz IS the longest running companion (counting series) im fine being a hypocrite about this

wait but. shes been there from 13's first until 13's last episode thats like. must be a record. at least in new who. like only rose did that and 9 only had one series. anyway even if it's not a record it still feels special <3 there hasnt been a companion doctor duo who was together the entire time in new who

(note the clara one is stories not episodes, so while yaz has been in 31 episodes that only counts as 25 (? if I counted right) stories, because spyfall 1&2 count as 1 and flux only counts as 1, which is bullshit)

so for calendar time yaz is the undisputed longest, and for modern companions she is the only one with 3 complete seasons (I believe clara would be the runner up here, 2.5 seasons)

In terms of calendar time counting for companions but not doctors, it somehow feels different? idk why, it just Is. vibes

I do believe yaz is the only companion (other than rose&nine) to be with the doctor from first to last episode, and even that is somehow different as we dont know how long 9 was alone between regenerating in the 50th and meeting rose, while yaz is certifiably there from just after one regeneration to just before the next

amy and rory setting out a place for them. "but you didnt know i was coming, why would you set me a place?" "because we always do"

the doctor disappears and you dont know if or when they'll ever be back but i dont know if they expect you to wait for them. so many people throughout time who have told them "i waited for you" and it never seems to sink in that they wait for them. that they miss them.

the doctor quietly removing themself from people's lives bc they only bring chaos and destruction anyway. it's better like this. theyre saving them by leaving.

clara going "i mean it's not like im never gonna see you again" "isnt it?" "is it?" "i thought thats what you wanted" "but youre gonna come around for dinner or something arent you? do you do that? come around peoples houses for dinner?" maybe they do find it boring. or maybe thats an easier sentiment to express, an easier idea to grapple with, than the fact that there are people who care about them enough to spend time with them when nothing particularly exciting is happening, spend time with them just doing human maintenance things, when they dont need them. because theyre not necessary when there is no danger. theyre not needed, just wanted. because theyre not loved by the people who love them for being The Doctor, theyre loved for being the doctor.

Thank you so much for sending this in and distracting me yesterday evening. I very much needed it and even managed to have a lot of fun writing despite my underlying state of worry (I had an exam today and I always stress out A LOT the day before. But it all went well and I passed!)

I have to warn you, I got carried away a little (mostly due to the date being on Darillium; THORS is my second favourite episode ever) and I haven't really proof-read this. Also, I wasn't sure whether you preferred a romantic date or a platonic one, so...it's a bit of a weird mix now.

Anyway, I hope you like it :) I would very much appreciate if you told me what you thought.

Without further ado:

We are so lucky

Pairing: Yaz x Reader

The whole date was just one big, lucky accident. The Doctor brought you to ‘Darillium’, a planet far, far away from your solar system that was best known for its Singing Towers. Or so the Doctor said. It was just that when you landed, it was pitch dark and there were no towers visible, least of all audible.

When Yaz pointed that out, the Doctor just shrugged, scrunched up her face like she often did and answered: “Well, they don’t sing all the time.”

“It’s a bit rubbish then that we have landed now, isn’t it?” Dan asked, joining the three of you at the TARDIS door that was looking onto barren, nightly land and the front of a pretty, richly illuminated restaurant. Behind the building a cute little town stretched towards both sides, lampions and fairy lights everywhere, shining a warm, golden light into the night.

“Shouldn’t we just come back when it’s day?” Dan proposed. “And when the towers are switched on?”

“Can’t” the Doctor said turning towards the TARDIS window and rising to her toes to scrutinize her reflection. “I’ve got some business here. Now.”

She wiped a smudge off her cheek and brushed her hair back behind her ears. Just to immediately mess it all up again and wring her hands. You exchanged a confused glance with Yaz. Now what was this about?

“What kind of business?” you inquired. “The dangerous kind?”

“Nah, don’t worry” the Doctor lied, smiling at you unconvincingly. “Just you know, normal business. Very boring. Anyway, there’s an entertainment mile just behind the restaurant, you can wait there until I’m done.”

“You’re going to leave us here?!” Yaz asked exasperated. “Again?”

You gently grabbed her arm, trying to reassure her.

“I’ll be back in a jiff” the Doctor promised, already walking away at a fast pace without another glance at you. “Don’t wander off.”

“Is she making a habit of this” Dan commented, following Yaz and you out the TARDIS and pulling the door shut. “Wandering off and telling us to stay put. And the towers aren’t even singing.”

“How’s that supposed to work anyway?” you asked while you started towards the restaurant. Yaz offered you her hand and gratefully you intertwined your fingers. Hers were a little cold, so you took her hand in both of yours to warm them up. “Singing towers? Do you think they’re sentient?”

“Maybe it’s just a euphemism?” Yaz proposed, leaning slightly into you while you walked.

“Yeah, or just something the Doctor made up” Dan chuckled. “To convince us this planet was worth the visit.”

He was walking beside you, hands stuffed into his pockets. It really was quite cold on the planet, almost as if the sun hadn’t shone in a very long time.

“What in all of the universe could she need to do here anyway?” Yaz asked. “That was so important we had to come here now, even though she obviously doesn’t want us with her?”

It was always difficult reasoning with the TARDIS. It was especially difficult when you were dying. One should think she would feel pity and for once do what you asked her to, but in the end she always thought she knew better. And, quite frankly, at this point the Doctor was too far out of it to specify that the sunrise was supposed to be on Earth. Still, even in her battered state she recognised immediately where the ship had brought her to. It only took opening the door and having a small shimmer of the rising sun fall onto her face together with an all too familiar smell of home. You did not spend a decade dreading a slowly brightening light and mistake it for another when you saw it again.

Let me try to fix it one last time please. I know there wasn't room for them in the episode but there would have been room for a tiny scene pre-regeneration. Just to have them meet. Just so the Doctor wouldn't be alone when she died. Just so her wife would see the old body and while being confused and concerned remark that oh, now everything makes sense and when asked to clarify answer spoilers. Just so we realise that there is a chance here that it isn't over yet, that they will get a few more adventures as a gift. Just for some hope. For her. For them. For us :)

My #1 post of 2022

Now I want thasmin to be happy as much as the next person, but please consider:

It ends badly because of course it does, when has it ever not ended badly? And then Yaz is gone. And the Doctor is left behind, like they always are in the end. And it's probably even their fault and they blame themselves. But even if it wasn't, the fact that she is gone hurts enough already.

The Doctor can't sleep. They never could very well but they are exhausted, post-regeneration maybe, and they really, really should. They have even pushed the bed out into the console room again but it doesn't feel right when Yaz is not lying next to them.

In a way they wish they could forget the pain, suppress it, because it is too much. But they know they mustn't. They know they need to honor her memory, need to feel the pain. They wish they could talk to someone about it. But the only person they would feel safe to tell is the very person who is gone.

They miss her. Her smile, her hand in her own, her guidance. Yaz always knew what to do.

And so they get up, shuffle over to the fridge, take out the emergency sharpie (and a chocolate chip cookie because they haven't eaten in days and they really need to get something into their system).

And then they sit down on the bed, roll up the sleeves of a coat that belonged to another woman and scribble onto the palm of their hand. Five letters.

Going through the Only Murders in the Building tag and I am reminded of exactly why weekly episodes are so much better than dropping a season all at once. Sure, I’m as impatient as the next person to see the next episode, but discussing theories and questions as the show progresses is an experience that I sorely miss.

Only Murders in the Building 2x09 thoughts (spoilers ahead)

Fucking called it! My “out there theory” turned out to be not that out there after all. Even so, I did not see that Poppy twist coming!

Still not sure if Kreps is all he seems. And the mysterious texter has yet to be identified.

The painting thing seems wrapped up and unrelated to Bunny’s murder... but then why did Bunny say “Savage” while dying?

While I’m on the fence with Oliver lying to Will, I’m glad he realised that Will is still his son even if it isn't biological. Oliver raised him, that’s what makes him his dad.

The elevator scene was great. Poor Howard.

All in all, we got quite a few answers, but there are still many questions and something tells me a couple will carry on to the next season.

Just found the DVD booklet from my Doctor Who: Series 2 DVD and I am reminded just how much effort used to be put into DVDs. These days you’d be lucky to get an episode guide on the back of the DVD cover, let alone a whole booklet with beautiful images, behind the scenes photos, and a message from the producer.

The Demon Bros & Undatables: Comforting a Stressed MC

Lucifer

• He wasn’t sure how to comfort you when you first arrived in the devildom, but after a few weeks spending time together he picked up your comfort activities and items

• So when he heard you crying in your room late one night, a night he knew was the night before a big exam you’d been studying like crazy for, he knew what to do

• He went to the kitchen and grabbed a comfort snack and your favorite drink, stopping by his room to get a blanket that smelled like him before gently opening the door to your room

• You sniffled and wiped your face, turning to see who it was

• “Lucifer, hey. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up”

• “You didn’t, my love. Here” he wrapped the blanket over your shoulders and placed the kitchen Items on your desk, close enough for you to reach them but far enough if you couldn’t eat then you wouldn’t feel forced. He then walked to your bed and grabbed your favorite stuffed animal, placing it in your lap and kissing the top of your head

• “What can I do to help” his voice was soft, and the two of you spent the night cuddled in bed, sitting against the wall as he quizzed you on facts until you both fell asleep (he set an alarm so you wouldn’t miss your exam, don’t worry)

Mammon

• Gift-giving love language, despite his constant urge to sell your things

• So whenever you’re stressed over schoolwork, he picks up an extra shift at Hell’s Kitchen (secretly) and brings you a coffee / your energy drink of choice and a little trinket he saw that made him think of you

• Your desk has accumulated quite a pile of these little gifts, and when you look up at them it fills you with a familiar warmth that only his affection can give you

•  He has the best timing with these too, whenever you feel yourself getting overly frustrated you hear a knock at your door or see your D.D.D. screen light up with a text from him

• He also gives incredible shoulder massages? You had no idea, but when you’re hunched over one night and feel his hands straighten your back and start kneading the sore muscles in your neck you swear your soul left your body

Leviathan

• He’s a great listener and will let you vent to him any time, anywhere

• He doesn't sleep much anyway, so when you text one night that you’re coming over because you need to blow off steam he likes the message and prepares a blanket and stuffed animal for you to squeeze

• Bonus: he got a stuffed animal just for you to take your anger out on, a little bit so you wouldn’t squeeze one of his Ruri-chans, but also because he loves you

• He greets you with a hug, every time. Nights that you were especially fed up you’d collapse in his arms, crying or yelling or anything to just get the frustration out

• He holds you close and once you get it all out he whispers words of affirmation in your ear, always knowing exactly what to say to comfort you

Satan

• If anyone knows how to relax, it’s Satan

• So whenever you need to cool down you head to your favorite brother’s room (or the library. usually the library.) to seek refuge from your work

• The two of you are like soulmates, so whenever he sees you he can instantly tell how you’re feeling and what you need

• And no matter what it was, a hug or space to just be alone or literally anything, this man will get it for you

• He helps you study a lot too, the two of you worked well together so having him quiz you or help you come up with ways to remember things always made you feel more confident about what you were learning

Asmodeus

• Will draw you a warm bath whenever you’re too overworked, filling it with soap of your favorite scent and lighting a few candles for around the tub

• He gives you space if you need it, but if you want to keep studying from the comfort of the bath he’ll help you

• Unless he notices that you’re too overwhelmed and working yourself past exhaustion. Then, he bans you from studying while you’re together (which he promises won’t be long, but he always makes sure it’s long enough for you to rest)

• Pulls out all the stops to make you feel the comfort you need and deserve, even giving you a gentle scalp massage as you fight off falling asleep in the tub

Beelzebub

• Food is the way to his heart, but he understands that isn’t the same for everyone

• So he takes time to learn about what things make you happy, what things to avoid, and more

• When you drag yourself to his room late at night, exhausted from studying late and crawl under the covers with him, he knows what will help you

• He kisses the back of your head while pulling your body softly against his, and hums one of your favorite songs from the human world until you’re asleep

• You wake up the next day together, and he treats you to whatever you want for breakfast, making sure you eat enough to fuel your body for the day

Belphegor

• Knows the power of a nap better than anyone

• So when your head is falling over your textbook, he doesn’t hesitate to pick you up and carry you to bed

• “Belphie! No, I need to study. I’m good I promise” you reassure him, but the yawn that follows instantly negates everything you’d said

• “Sure, MC. Then for me, let’s nap together. It’ll be so nice” he lays you in bed and cuddles you, “all warm and comfy in bed, how can you not love this” but you can’t even respond because you’re already asleep

Diavolo

• mfer would just excuse you from the class /hj

• But if he couldn’t, he’d take you to his office and pamper you with anything you wanted

• Or if you just wanted to collapse in his bed and sleep for more hours than he thought was possible for a human to sleep, he’d absolutely let you

• Anything at all for his favorite human

Barbatos

• Knows how to comfort Diavolo, but when it comes to humans at first he doesn’t know what to do

• So you tell him what you need when you’re drained, and he remembers

• You knock on his door late one night, mid-yawn as he opens the door

• He wraps your tired body in a warm blanket, fresh from the dryer, and pulls up your comfort show. He turns on your favorite episode and snuggles next to you on the couch

• “Let me know if you need anything, MC. I’m here”

• “Thank you, Barbatos”

Solomon

• Like Levi, he’s an amazing listener. So whenever you need him to be there, he’s listening actively and making sure you know your frustrations are heard

• But he’s also good with distracting you from your studies, so sometimes you take a break to watch a movie the two of you had been meaning to watch for a while, or get lunch somewhere

• You get to pick, unless you want him to, and no matter what you do he makes sure you completely forget about the books waiting for you back home

• Lets you sleep in his room whenever you want, and most exam weeks you basically move into his room. It’s a win win situation, he gets to spend time with you and make sure you’re giving your body what it needs, and you get a home away from home to study in (and the company of your favorite human)

Simeon

• When you need a break from your studies, Simeon will read you a bit from whatever writing he’s working on

• His voice is possibly the most comforting thing in the world to you, and hearing him tell stories he’s written just for you gives you a sense of comfort that could cure anything

• If not that, then the two of you hop in bed and turn on whatever you want to watch to take your mind off your studies

• But your favorite thing to do was to tackle him into bed and cuddle, tangled together and just talking about anything and everything that wasn’t school

Luke

• You bake something together or go to the park, or anything really

• As long as it’s fun and lighthearted, and with Luke, you know he’ll bring a smile to your face and help you forget about your stress for a bit

Top 5 episodes of British TV you wish hadn't been lost?

And I was unsure whether to be strict about this being episodes rather than series, but then I thought that we usually talk about DW serials as one thing (I mean, the missing ep of Tenth Planet aside, we generally dream of the story being uncovered if we could have it). So I just mixed it and matched it a bit. XD

But OMG burnination is one of those things that just gets worse and worse the more you get into this stuff. It's just awful, really. Anyhooo...

1. "Cross That Palm When We Come To It." I mean, I want ALL the missing Public Eye episodes (very little of S1-3 survives), and that loss must surely top the lists of anyone who knows about old Brit TV, but if we're going for specific episodes, then the S3 finale where Frank gets framed and sent to prison, that leads into the whole story arc of the brilliant piece of TV that is S4, and which is written by series creator Roger Marshall... I'll take that! Let us watch Frank suffer. (People at the time were upset enough to try and send Frank Marker cake. Which is funny, but also something Frank might actually have appreciated. I mean, cake. A cup of tea. *nods*. Or is cake a bit much? Should it just be a biscuit?)

2. "Power of the Daleks". Gimme. Please! I mean, all the missing DW episodes, especially Two because he's still so badly hit, but Power is my top pick. Love it even just on audio, but I would give a lot to see it!

3. Haunted (1967-1968) After loving Enemy at the Door and Public Eye, I got curious about script editor/producer Michael Chapman's work (there's an elusive quality of idk, complexity, compassion, humanity to it that I really like) and tried to obtain what was available of his back catalogue. One of these was the 1965 SF TV series Undermind, which was a really interesting alien invasion series (including scripts by David Whittaker and Robert Holmes) - and it spawned a sort of supernatural sequel, which was Haunted. But given how interesting Undermind could be, I would love to see how Chapman approached Haunted! I'm so intrigued, but I'll have to stay that way forever, unless eps turn up.

4. Danton's Death (BBC 1959) I have been good and not just filled this with my Top 5 James Maxwell Eps I Want (and that probably might have been the truest list right now /o\), but I'd be really keen to see the TV version of his adaptation of this play, with him as Camille Desmoulins (and Patrick Wymark as Danton) - it was supposed to have worked better than the stage version, and also it's the only TV performance where he and his wife Avril Elgar played husband and wife. I do have the script book, but still. It'd be cool to see it!

5. I'm loving the recovery of The Hidden Truth! So, on the same JM train, I'd love the other episodes back! If I had to choose one, "The Guinea Pig" just to see if it's shippy. Even though it probably wasn't!

(I would have put Twelfth Night BBC 1957 ahead of Danton, with JM as Feste, which I would adore, thank you; but the odds are high that it was never recorded and so can hardly be called burninated. I mean, if it WAS recorded, then you can put it at no. 4.)

But there are so many things I could put here! As with the others - this is my top 5 for this five minutes, today.

Veronika

Favorite thing about them

Veronika does the same thing I have a habit of doing and that's just completely infodumping everything she knows about her interests, regardless of how socially inappropriate it may be, the second she is given an opportunity to. Honestly, she's just really relatable in that regard and considering this is something I'm extremely self-conscious about, it's really comforting to see characters who are kinda like me in that regard.

Least favorite thing about them

Honestly, I got nothing so far. She's one of my faves, what else can I say.

Favorite line

"Watching someone lose their sanity as they desperately claw towards an ever-dwindling hope for survival... It's so much better than any story I could've ever read."

I think it is a quote that's pretty telling, but also made so much better by the voice acting in that moment

This might be a weird thing to say, but I actually think her and Ace could make a good duo. He's obviously scared shitless of... most things, but I could see Veronika trying to ease him out of his comfort zone and him getting a little less jumpy over time because of that

Man, idk what it was, but I feel like I and every other verturo shipper collectively saw her interaction with Arturo in episode 4 and was like "omg... what if they went on movie dates together" and ran with it. I do really feel like they have a nice dynamic though, what with her being so unrelenting in her high energy and Arturo having big tsundere potential.

Random headcanon

People joke about celebrating holidays too soon, but Veronika literally never puts away her Halloween decorations. You can go to her house in January and there will be giant fuzzy spider animatronics in her front yard wearing scarves and mittens (on all 8 legs, might I add). HOA doesn't find this nearly as entertaining as she does.

Unpopular opinion

I'm pretty sure I got an ask about this previously and I explained it before, but you can't convince me that she's going to kill someone. Or that she's the mastermind. Maybe if she lives past chapter 3, then we can start talking mastermind theories, but outside of that, I seriously don't think she's gonna kill anybody.

Arturo is incredibly entertaining just because his ideals are so out-there to me. He was kind of hard to like at first, but honestly, he’s the kind of person I look at and think “I want to study you.”

His world view honestly makes him difficult to like and impossible to write. Have you tried writing fanfic from his POV? I did and I got about two paragraphs in before I realized what I was working with.

i was twelve! but my parents were never into the show, and we didn't watch much tv anyway, so i didn't even know about doctor who until high school and i didn't actually watch it until it came to netflix when i was in college.

i dressed up as the tardis for halloween one year and my partner dressed up as eleven. we looked very cute and i still have my blue onesie!

11. who is your doctor?

nine. unquestionably nine. i'm pretty sure i saw some episodes out of order—one with eleven first (which got me sort of tentatively interested), and then one with ten (which sparked some early-onset dt thirst), but when i finally decided to go back and start over with nine? that's when i fell in love with the show, and with the doctor, and with rose.

17. best multi-doctor story?

the one that exists in my head, lmao. no, but really, the fiftieth is the only one i've ever really sat down and watched and we all know how i feel about that...

57. in your opinion, what makes a monster good?

this is such a hard question!! for me, monsters are at their best when they have the capacity to really take away your sense of self. possessions and body-snatchers really work for me. the gelth, the flood, the gas-mask people... i mean, it can obviously done in a silly way (see: the slitheen), but even that is just genuinely terrifying. for your body or some part of you to continue while your mind and memories are gone... and that taps into the sort of fundamental fear of the doctor themself, every time they regenerate. the pervasive threat of loss of identity is a core part of the show.

59. best dalek story?

dalek in series one. but then, robert shearman could write anything and i'd probably love it.

60. best one time villain/monster?

i'm a fan of the good old lupine wavelength haemovariform. so scary, and so sad.

73. favourite tardis design?

i am very, very partial to twelve's tardis. all the bookshelves... the sunken console area... the color palette... it's all very good.

does the master count? i want to defeat them purely so they don't come back.
