Just found out my former boss has apparently told multiple people (including recently) that she wants to beat me up for leaving the firm back in January.
And I hope she does! Suing her for assault & battery would be so much fun for me.

Signs of a toxic boss
1. They always complain about any work you do, no matter how you do it or how well you did it etc.
2. They call you names or crack ignorant/racist/sexist etc jokes about you.
3. They do not understand boundaries. They expect you to be available and working whenever they want you to. Funeral? Wedding? Why even attend those? Why do you need time for grief?
4. They take credit for all of your work.
5. They use you as an emotional punching bag. When they are unhappy they dump their unhappiness towards you. Ie they had a fight with their partner so somehow you get pulled into a two hour meeting talking about how inadequate you are.
6. They make you fearful, unhappy, and frustrated with or about work most of the time.
7. They micromanage or they refuse to manage or make decisions at all. Even worse they say you should make the call but then when you make the decision they then say you shouldn’t have done it that way.
8. They don’t take responsibility for their own mistakes and blame all mistakes on you.
9. They don’t give you opportunities to grow. Somehow you are always stuck doing the same things and can’t move forward.
10. There is no mentorship. You are all by yourself in this game of work.
11. They expect you to work, work, work yet they just don’t do anything and complain they have no work.

If you have to leave a toxic job without notice or without finding a new job first, it can be really scary.
But, just remember, the world is your oyster right now. You have a newfound freedom and time to yourself. So, just enjoy, and ride that wave.

I’m panicking in a very bad way rn… yesterday I called my boss to present her my two week notice and she said No. To which I immediately started to think on how could I make it work, but after after talking to my family, I realized how insane this answer is, so I just quitted on the spot by sms. I really don’t want to keep working there and I don’t see the reason why I should, even if I’d like to help my boss, this has become a very toxic environment. I don’t even have a contract signed with her… but I’m panicking y’all… I’m scared and I don’t know hoe to calm down…

Normally I'm not so sensitive, but after crying for almost thirty minutes straight after a six hour shift, I think my boss has finally broke me.
Fuck her.

I don’t know what it is about me. Right now, I’m doubting my decision to leave my previous firm. Things are good at my new job; less stressful, less toxic. But I keep wondering if I made the wrong decision, or if I somehow betrayed my former boss and that’s why she was so mad. I think maybe some of it is that I really wanted to like it there? I was working at the same firm as my best friend, I loved the paralegal, and if it weren’t for Boss, maybe everything would’ve been fine, if not exactly good. But my best friend says it’s toxic, too, and she’s looking for other jobs, too, so maybe it’s not just me after all. But idk.

Lost it at work today. I didn't do it directly to anyones face but my body language spoke volumes and my *attitude/reaction* made the aggressor go red. I'm so tired. Why do people act so selfishly? I also work lates, no need to punish me because its your turn this week. Gave everyone a chuckle though apparently, I was furious and raging but my friends calmed me down, listened and laughed. Went home to warm apple crumble and custard. Just what I needed.

Toxic boss things that still affect me:
-paranoid about going off the floor to grab something or go to the bathroom without announcing it to everyone. This happens even when I'm alone.
-the click of a door in her office area giving me a flight or fight response.
-recurring nightmares where she's back. Dream me is starting to call out her bullshit though that's been great
-a twinge everytime I make my own decisions without consulting my boss first (getting better at this).
-glancing at her office while I'm not 200% productive to make sure she's busy and not monitoring me (lol new boss doesn't care)
One year and four months out, ughhhhhh still.
