BREAKFAST WITH BRETTE
Tumblr media
TODAY:
I love a clean, healthy, fresh breakfast. It helps me think straight and jump into my creative flow of the day!
Today I was craving yogurt, (a regular). Mixed frozen berries that I heat up and pour on top and sliced bananas all from Trader Joes of course because like where else would you shop haha.
Fun fact: I've literally had Trader Joes all my life. My parents raised us on it. I always shop there so this might as well be a TJ's sponsored blog. But it's not... yet... lol.

From the horny discord chat today, someone posted a picture of Trader Joe's trail mix, branded the "Omega Trek" mix. It snowballed from there.
Scheduled subscription boxes for omegas in heat! All the most cutting edge nutritious and tasty snacks and over the counter remedies to make the process more bearable for unpartnered omegas. But what happens if your heat comes early and your goodies aren't there yet?
So. Dream is a loner alpha who runs a company that makes products for these boxes, and omega Hob has signed up to be one of his product testers, but his heat comes and the shipment has gotten lost (or whatever we like.) Fortunately Hob happens to be in the same city as Dream and he could just drop by with the items he really needs tested! It's just... there's a deadline, right? And he really needs this data. Very important data! He can't wait another 3 months or whatever or take the time to have new volunteers do the legal paperwork needed to be his product testers or he won't make the production deadline.
So he'll just drive the snacks over to this guy himself, no problem! What could possibly go wrong?
Actively yelling over the idea of Startup Company Guy Dream. His siblings laugh at him because what does he do for a living?! Put nuts and seaweed and chocolate into boxes?? Spend hours calculating the vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy heat?? Even his kinder family members think it won't last a month.
But Hob saw the product advertised on tiktok or something and thought it was a great idea!! So he signs up to test it about 6 months before the product is launched, and agrees to fill out a bunch of questionnaires and do an interview.
...and the data really IS important, which is how Dream ends up standing on Hob’s porch, waiting for him to answer the door. He should probably just drop the box there and leave but... it seems polite to at least check in with this guy who has agreed to help him out!
Unfortunately when Hob cracks open the door, he gets a whiff of yummy snacks AND yummy alpha. His mouth starts watering, and he accidentally swings the door wide open. It all goes a bit downhill from there.
Well, not downhill. But Hob’s experience of taste testing the snacks mostly involves him sitting on Dream’s knot and being lovingly fed in the brief periods when they're not fucking hard. So Hob probably can't give an entirely objective review of Dream’s project, but he can say with absolute certainty that everything Dream has given him tastes absolutely divine. Not just the snacks 😉
The snacks give Dream and Hob a great opportunity to stay in touch, because Hob does genuinely want to help because the product was yummy and left him feeling much better than usual after his heat. Every time they meet up to discuss the product though, it inevitably turns into another excuse to fall into bed together!
When the snacks finally launch to be sold on the open market, they're obviously a total success! At the launch party Hob finally, timidly suggests that maybe he and Dream should start seeing each other like... normal people? Not just under the guise of business stuff?
And Dream shyly hands him a personally curated box of snacks with all his favourites, and asks if Hob would consider sharing his next heat with Dream? As boyfriends this time?
And then they fuck in the bathroom, and Dream is late to give his speech, but it's totally worth it <3

what foods would violet like?
Thank you for asking! I really appreciate it.
Mostly everything on this list is a little healthy, since Vivien is an organic, don't drink of out plastic bottles, Trader Joe's-type mom lol.
Almonds
Popcorn
Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches
Veggie Straws
Goldfish & other crackers
Dr. Pepper
Chicken Noodle Soup
Trail Mix
Baby Carrots
Hummus
Celery + Peanut Butter
Any fruit; mostly strawberries & raspberries
Mac & Cheese
Salads (with boiled egg in it)
Cheese Cubes
Tomatoes by themselves
Bananas
Greek yogurt and strawberry yogurt
Granola Bars
Here are some small food-related head cannons:
I see her as being a little bit of a picky eater.
The kind of person to have a spoon-full of peanut butter for a snack.
Loves fruit.
Loves soup.
Eats at random times throughout the day.
Eats a bunch of snacks instead of making a meal.
Asks for extra cherries on top of her ice cream whenever she orders it.
Doesn't really like chips except sea salt and vinegar flavor.
Really likes Shirley Temples.
I hope this helps! 🖤

Gos, what would you say are the Top 5 items to buy at Trader Joe’s? [ will be shopping there for the first time and am looking for refs from you and anons]
In the list of things I love the most / not healthy, necessarily:
buffalo chicken dip, naan crackers to eat with it, pizza dough to make homemade pizza, chicken or pork frozen gyoza, crunchy chili onion (amazing sauce I eat on like everything), everything snack mix, you gotta try the legendary mandarin orange chicken if you've never had it, pesto, i love a lot of the ravioli flavors that you can cook for a quick meal, mini stroopwafels, sea salt caramels
this was way more than 5 but everything I could think of off the top of my head
also if you're a wine drinker they have a lot of good options of wine for very good prices. You can get a really good $7-$10 bottle that tastes like a $25-$30 bottle.

The Death of a Keyword, and the Re-Shuffling of $500B in US eCommerce Sales
Tumblr media
By Justin Leigh | CEO, Workflow Labs | Article Link
Search is really important.  It’s so much faster than browsing.  In fact, it’s so much better that over 80% of Amazon’s sales are driven by customers going to the search bar, entering some keywords and buying one of the top five products of the thousands that the search query returns.
Keyword Search Sucks
As great as it is, keyword search sucks.  We just don’t know it yet.  We don’t know it yet in the same way we didn’t realize that stopping at a gas station to buy a paper map sucked compared to using GPS navigation.  Or having to wait in the rain at a designated meeting spot after a concert sucked compared to just texting your friends to ask where they are.
Objectively, it’s an odd process.  Customers must first think of words they believe a computer will understand.  The customer is then rewarded with an overwhelming amount of somewhat relevant products.  When the customer searches again, the search engine forgets they’ve ever talked with this customer before and returns a pile of new, unrelated products.  It’s like walking into a grocery store and yelling, “Peanut Butter,” and an army of clerks bring you all the cereal, dog treats and sandwich spread that contain the words “Peanut” and/or “Butter.”  You then yell, “Organic,” and get a bunch of bananas, flour, and healthy snacks.
This is not how we’ve evolved to think or communicate, but we accept it because the alternative - browsing through thousands of products - is much worse.
Then the World Changed
Search is about to get a lot better.  Generative search, natural language processing and AI will replace keyword matching and the results are incredible.  Unfortunately, that’s terrible news for everyone who has built a successful business based on keyword search.
To understand the difference, consider the following product search in this new world:
Me:
“please recommend a peanut butter that is healthy and comes in a large container because I make a lot of sandwiches”
ChatGPT:
“When choosing a peanut butter, look for one that is made with only a few ingredients, such as peanuts and salt, and avoid those with added sugars or oils. Here are some recommendations for healthy peanut butter options that come in large containers:
Crazy Richard's 100% Peanuts All-Natural Peanut Butter: This peanut butter is made with only one ingredient: roasted peanuts. It's also gluten-free, vegan, and non-GMO, and comes in a 48-ounce jar.
Kirkland Signature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter: This peanut butter is made with only organic roasted peanuts and salt. It comes in a 28-ounce jar and is certified USDA organic.
Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter: This peanut butter is made with only two ingredients: peanuts and salt. It's also non-GMO and gluten-free and comes in a 26.5-ounce jar.
Remember that peanut butter is high in calories and fat, so be mindful of your portion sizes to maintain a healthy diet.”
Great, now I’d like to know what I should spend on these:
“How much do those items cost on Amazon?”
ChatGPT:
“The prices of these items on Amazon may vary depending on the time of purchase and location, but here are the current prices (as of my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021) for each peanut butter option:
Crazy Richard's 100% Peanuts All-Natural Peanut Butter (48 oz): $13.97
Kirkland Signature Organic Creamy Peanut Butter (28 oz): $9.86
Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter (26.5 oz): $5.64
Jif Natural Creamy Peanut Butter (40 oz): $9.99
Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter (40 oz): $7.67
Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Peanut Butter (16 oz): $7.95
Keep in mind that prices may vary, and there may be other retailers that offer these products at different prices.”
I’m easily influenced by famous people, so naturally:
“Are there any endorsed by celebrities?”
ChatGPT:
“There may be peanut butter brands that are endorsed by celebrities, but it's important to remember that celebrity endorsements do not necessarily mean that a product is healthier or of better quality. It's always a good idea to focus on the ingredients and nutritional value of a product rather than relying solely on celebrity endorsements.
That being said, here are a few peanut butter brands that have been endorsed by celebrities:
Justin's Nut Butter: Justin's is a natural nut butter company that has been endorsed by several celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Winfrey. Their products are made with high-quality ingredients and come in a variety of flavors.
PBfit: PBfit is a brand of powdered peanut butter that has been endorsed by actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens. Their powdered peanut butter is made with only roasted peanuts, salt, and sugar, and has 87% less fat than traditional peanut butter.
NuttZo: NuttZo is a nut butter brand that has been endorsed by Olympic athlete Lindsey Vonn. Their products are made with a blend of organic nuts and seeds and come in several different varieties.
Again, it's important to do your own research and read ingredient labels to make an informed decision about the peanut butter you choose to purchase.”
So, there you have it.  In addition to being endorsed by Vanessa Hudgens, PBFit was an early client at my last company so it’s the obvious winner.  If you conduct the same search, you will get different results.  The system is constantly learning and improving in ways no human can truly understand.
It makes the old keyword way seem so…old.
Who Will Mourn the Keyword?
There is no world in which keyword search wins.  It’s like bringing keywords to a natural language processing fight.  AI wins, Customers win, big time.  Shoppers will not mourn keywords.
Those who will mourn keywords are the owners of the products that have spent millions or billions of dollars on advertising, content, strategy, and execution to have the coveted top placement on the keywords that drive their business.  The ad platforms that generate billions of dollars selling keyword targeted ads will also mourn.  How will advertisers target consumers?  Other than just trusting AI, how do advertisers make decisions about how and where to invest?  How will brands know what content to develop? Companies that built entire businesses on keyword matching processes will mourn them.
AI in the Driver's Seat Means Different Products Win
As generative search based on natural language processing rolls out $500B+ of US retail sales will be completely reshuffled.  Ad tools and tactics will shift seemingly overnight.
Some products will just accidentally win.  They were always more relevant, but no one knew.  With AI in the driver seat, these products will steal share from others that had carefully, and expensively, mastered the now useless keywords.  Brands will be forced to learn to understand how the retailers’ different flavors of generative search work.  They will need to know a lot more about their customers.  Keyword stuffing into titles or bullets will not work anymore.  Brands will have to be strategic and highly engaged in actively managing the data that trains the AI models.
Saying Goodbye is Hard
Having been there for the birth of the keyword and now standing here so close to the end, I’d like to say a few words:
Keyword, you were a good friend.  You led us out of the darkness of browse.  You exposed all the knowledge of the world so I could settle minor disputes with my friends in real time.  You changed our lives in unimaginable ways.  Born just thirty years ago in 1993 on Aliweb, you were so young.  But change is life’s only constant, and I need more, better ways to find the right peanut butter for me.  So, it’s time to say goodbye.
But you never know!  Just like the acid-washed jeans I wore to your birthday party, maybe, one day, you’ll come back into style.

friday - saturday
i got out early.
i wanted to cook and stuff tonight, since i got out early but my gf went out fsr, so i couldn't really, because i know she won't eat leftovers.
thinking that i do need to draw again soon, stuff i have not finished that i want to and getting into daily doodling will just help me i think. but too tired. i am working 7 days in a row now cuz i worked weds, thurs, fri, and next i work sat, sun, mon, tues, which is a great way to schedule people to destroy anything but their interiority. reading at work is nice, leaving early was still really nice for me because it cut a whole 3 hours off my shift.
here are some quotations:
"and i am haunted by my ghosts, by all that is mythic, fantastic, and gigantic: life is supernatural. i walk holding an open umbrella upon a tightrope. i walk to the limit of my great dream. i see the fury of the visceral impulses: tortured viscera guide me. i don't like what i just wrote -- but i'm duty bound to accept the whole section because it happened to me. and i have much respect for what i happen to myself. my essence is unconscious of itself and that's why i obey myself blindly."
(no typo in the above, i think frequently about the very odd phrasings in this book, much respect for what i happen to myself. it makes an odd sense. or not odd. it makes non-sense, it is the inconclusive phrase, she illustrates there, the inconstant, the freedom of her heart leading her to where she does not know but she is there at a place, and beyond this, to happen to oneself, what i happen to myself, self-exposing in the oddest ways, this here is becoming in the non-zone she carves out, the cavern and then below:)
"the transcendence inside me is the living and soft "it" and has the thought that an oyster has. could the oyster when torn from its root feel anxiety? it is disturbed in its life without eyes. i used to drip lemon juice onto the living oyster and watched in horror and fascination as it contorted all over. and i was eating the living it. the living it is the god."
"i don't like when they drip lemon upon my depths and make me contort all over. are the facts of life lemon on the oyster? does the oyster sleep?"
the becoming in the oyster's spasms. how lovely and wretched!! i feel the same ways so often. viscera guide, to what i cannot know, i know though, i want to be guided, and to give myself over to glossolalia which speaks something i cannot reason and cannot develop as knowledge, but something i can keep in my veins. the meaninglessness of veins.
i've also uncovered a new and lovely word in this book today: cantabile.
it can mean smooth or flowing, pointed specifically at the voice but she uses it beyond this meaning but to refer back to singing, music is a constant referent in the book. it is also a kind of phrasing in music made to mimic the human voice or what it might do, i think.
i just made edamame to eat. i need to get more of this for snacking instead of...trash like chips.. i do really just like like, those ridge cut chips from trader joe's but these are better in flavor and for me, like, being healthy. plus they are salty whcih i constantly crave.
now i am brushing my teeth, soon i will suh-leep.
one thing, i had a dream about worms destroying the world, again. this one was beneath a mall that used to be a temple or...it was somewhere in the middle-east and it was some pagan deity, revived and now seeking vengeance on the world, i don't know why. i recall having to do something. but i don't remember what. i remember the wall, i remember learning about things in cutscenes, the worm emerging from the sky, a terrible thing.
anyway, i do need to sleep soon so
byebye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Healthy Trader Joes Shopping List
Healthy Trader Joe’s Shopping List https://ift.tt/bnBCMaO Sharing some of my favorite healthy products from Trader Joe’s! Hi friends! How are ya? I hope you’re having an amazing day! I have some calls this morning, and then am getting a massage… can’t.wait. For today’s post, I wanted to share some of my favorite healthy finds from Trader Joe’s! During the time-that-shall-not-be-named, the Pilot did all of our grocery shopping because he was “out in the world” and the girls and I were at home. We also got a lot of grocery delivery from Whole Foods and Thrive Market. It kind of stuck around for years after that, until I realized that I actually love grocery shopping and had missed it. So now, we alternate, since we both like going to the store in person — you find so many more fun things that way! Trader Joe’s has some amazing things, and here are some of my favorite healthier finds. While I believe that ALL foods should fit into your lifestyle, this is a list of things that have less ingredients and offer more on the nutritional front (with a few of the soul-hugging must-haves in here, too). Here’s the list! Healthy Trader Joe’s Shopping List PRODUCE/COLD: – Organic fruit: we go for berries, bananas, grapes, apples, and anything seasonal and exciting, like cherries, melon, stone fruits, or rambutan – Organic veggies: sweet potatoes, zucchini, celery, carrots, bell peppers, squash – Edamame – Root vegetable hash – Cold-pressed green juice – Mirepoix (makes soups and casseroles SO easy) – Onions, garlic, and ginger – Medjool dates – Organic guacamole – Salsa! We love their pico and their Salsa Especial BEANS, SPICES, PANTRY STAPLES: – ALL organic beans: each week, I get white beans, kidney beans, black beans, and garbanzo beans – Organic chicken broth – Organic jasmine rice – Organic pasta from Italy – ALL the spices! We love their oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, and Everything But the Bagel seasoning – Canned tuna, sardines, anchovies – Almond butter – Organic peanut butter – Organic raspberry or strawberry preserves – Chocolate chips – Maple syrup – Oatmeal – Canned tomatoes – Olives – Artichokes BARS + SNACKS: – Date and Chocolate bars – Trail mix – Chomps jerky – Organic dried fruit and fruit leather DAIRY + EGGS: – Kerrygold unsalted butter – Almond milk – Full fat organic Greek yogurt – Organic cheese sticks – Raw or aged cheeses; their parm is amazing – Organic pasture-raised eggs (I prefer the Vital Farms eggs from Whole Foods but these work in a pinch) FROZEN + SWEET TREATS: – Hold the cone! Intermittent fasting day 12
I am writing this 2 days later. I woke up yesterday and I walked my dog, looked for insurance brokers, and built my bed. I was a bit hungry, but I was able to have a productive morning.
I had fun building my bed (the final result was beautiful and was sooooooo comfortable. So was my pillow). I slept very well. My younger dog was a bit confused about it and didn't want to come into my room or jump on my bed. But that's okay.
I ate past 1 because at 1 I was making my bed and was on a roll so I refused to be interrupted. I want to say I ate at around maybe 2.
I had oats and coffee. Then I went up to complete my bed. Around this time I got my period. I was feeling fine and didn't have any cravings.
Afterwards, I had some eggs with gouda cheese, tomatoes, ezekiel and some garlic spread on the toast. I then went to Trader Joes to get some food.
I walked my dog afterwards for a long walk. I was just imagining walking him on a beach in a nice city area with beautiful modern and contemporary-styled apartments. This is my absolute dream place to live. A beach city that is calm, simple, and not too crowded.
I wanted to go on a brisk walk alone, but I wasn't up for it because I'm tired and because of my period. I took a nap in my bed instead in the heat and felt amazing. My cramps weren't that bad.
However I woke up a bit late at 10. So I had to eat quickly. I had my Greek yogurt snack and avocado sandwich. I stopped eating at 11 which means I had a 9 hour eating window. But that's absolutely fine.
Overall is was a great day. I also got my usual healthy foods from Trader Joes and got a frozen cheese pizza that I can cook later this week (we have a ton of mushrooms and arugula I can add on to add some veggies in). And of course I bought dill. It's so delicious and makes a great flavor enhancer along with the chili lime seasoning I always put on everything.

Eating to lower A1C, maintain a healthy weight, and have glowing skin on a vegan diet
Fats. I put that on everything!
Lowering your A1C is much easier when you focus on protein, fiber, and mono- and polyunsaturated fats. Opt preferably for expeller/mechanically pressed, UNREFINED oils and fats. You want to avoid oxidative damage, and refining fats increases their oxidative properties, as well as reduces their health benefits.
Nuts are super nutrient dense, and have mostly fat (but cashews are the highest carb/most hydrated nut, as evidenced by their very creamy texture). Nuts are also excellent sources of protein, fiber, and micronutrients.
In studies, people who include nuts in their diets have lower BMIs. Caveat: fats have the most calories per serving. As long as you don't exceed your caloric requirements, go nuts on nuts and put fat in foods!
My Favorite Proteins:
🌱Almonds
🌱Cashews
🌱Mushrooms (Favorite shroom recipe: thinly chopped portobellos. Sauté garlic in a bit of avocado and a generous amount of toasted sesame oil. You want the avocado oil as it helps prevent sticking to the pan. Once the oil gets some browning of the garlic, add in minced ginger. You may need to add more avocado oil and toasted sesame oil, as you will want to cook a very large volume of shrooms, which love soaking up the oil, and shrink considerably in the cooking process. Usually, I buy a 5-pack of portobello caps and chop them very thinly myself. Or the pre-chopped and cut them thinner. Keep mixing the shrooms around in the oils. Once they are coated, add minced basil. Keep cooking until you get their juices free. Once soft/to desired texture, turn the heat up and keep mixing them around to cook the water off. Do a nice mild char on the mushrooms. Turn off heat and add just a small amount of Kikkoman Teriyaki Baste and Glaze. Eat over black rice, farro, brown rice pasta, quinoa, whole wheat pasta, even on a vegetarian sandwhich!)
🌱Pecans
🌱Peanuts
🌱Pine nuts
🌱Pistachios
🌱Tofu (Preferably superfirm, as this texture has the highest amount of protein per serving.
Tofu scrambles are a good idea for on the go protein. Easier to use extra firm tofu for scrambles.)
🌱Walnuts (best nut for omega-3)
Try purchasing different cuts of nuts (I love Trader Joe's for nut shopping) softening slivered almonds, cashews, pine nuts, peanuts by placing them in a bowl of boiled water for 15 minutes or more, and add to stirfried vegetables, rice, gluten-free pastas, salads.
"Protein load." This is where you pair everything, including snacks, with a protein option.
Protein increases your response to insulin without raising your blood glucose. ⬅️ ✅️ This is what you want to do to help lower A1C.
Eat more seeds! But preferably GROUND and/or HULLED. Your body can't access the omega-3 inside the seed if it is not opened first. Good for regulation of bowel movements, though. 💩
Seeds are wicked nutrient dense, and also contain healthy polyunsaturated fats, PROTEIN, and fiber.
Fat, protein, and fiber are the nutrients you want to focus on to lower your A1C and maintain a healthy weight. These 3 nutrients slow how fast glucose is released into your bloodstream, and help you feel full! Poly fats are even BETTER than monos at lowering A1C, and they maintain brain health and skin integrity.
🌱Chia (Look into making chia seed "pudding," as the recipe is extremely versatile. I love it with soy-free vanilla flavored Silk, or Almond Breeze's chocolate almond beverage. NEVER eat them raw/without letting them take on fluid first if you want to eat them whole/unground, as they can absorb fluid in the GI tract and cause a blockage. 😱)
🌱Flax (I put this ground in almost all my smoothies, and in oatmeal. 1-2Tbsp at a time.)
🌱Hemp seeds (Whole Foods has hulled hemp seed. Looks weird, but nice in smoothies and oatmeal. You might even want to experiment with putting it in rice. 1Tbsp at a time, as these ones might make you go more. 💩 Great for constipation management, especially when paired with plenty of water and physical activity.)
🌱Sunflower KERNELS ONLY. NEVER eat the husks of sunflower seeds (probably any seed, honestly), as these are causal in phytobezoar formation. Every piece of evidence I have found on phytobezoars happened to involve ingestion of the husks of sunflower seeds. For eating more volume, I recommend unsalted sunflower kernels. They're good on salads.
Avoid baked goods, candy, sugar sweetened beverages, and opt for fruit instead. Even artificial sweeteners harm the microbiome. 🚫👎🏾🧫
Craving sweet? Use juices that have no added sugar, and preferably not from concentrate. Trader Joe's has a unique selection. Some of my go to smoothies that I pair with nuts for a busy day, and also add ground flax and/or hulled hemp seeds to:
Tropical smoothie ⛱️🌊:
🍎Pineapple juice (4oz)
🍏Mango juice (4oz)
🍎Kale
🍏Frozen banana
🍎A small apple (or 1/2 a medium)
🍏Ground flax and/or hulled hemp seed (1-2Tbsp of each)
Brain smoothie 🧠👁:
🫐Pomegranate juice (bitter, so cut with a sweeter fruit/aged frozen banana)
🍒Blueberries
🫐Blackberries
🍒Raspberries
🫐Banana
🍒Ground flax and/or hemp seed (1-2 Tbsp of each)
Juices. Eat a fat with these 100%, as fat will help you absorb the fat-soluble vitamins in beta-carotene-containing/fat-soluble-vitamin-containing fruits/produce, giving you that skin glow 💋:
🥕Carrots
🍊Oranges/clementines
🥕Mango (fresh blended mango, or the juice)
🍊Turmeric (fresh. For a single serving of juice, you don't need even a full shot worth of turmeric juice. It's *powerful* and may override the taste. You may even get away with just 1/4 shot turmeric juice per 16oz serving of juice. Add a tiny bit of ground black pepper to potentiate any added herbs or spices!)
🥕Lemon (1 lemon worth of juice or so per 16oz serving of juice)
I haven't tried this yet, but would love to juice a cantaloupe as well for this recipe.
OR, if you don't have a juicer/don't want to get one, TJ's has an awesome carrot turmeric juice that tastes really good!
Complex carbs I go for frequently, but try to limit to about 1/2-1cup serving size (about 2oz serving for pastas), and ALWAYS add Earth or Smart Balance to your complex carb. Smart Balance tastes more buttery than Earth Balance, so I would use less if you try it. Smart also has your fat-soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K:
🌱Banza (more fiber here, so I sometimes eat half a box, especially on more active days. But chickpeas can be bloating, so careful with them. Drink a few cups of water beforehand.)
🍚Black rice
🥣Bob's Red Mill Organic Oats (I usually avoid regular oats/oatmeals. Glyphosate is generally recognized as safe, and is found in almost all oats. They use it to help release the oat during harvesting. Some people think glyphosate is harmful. Wouldn't suprise me if it is. Nutrigenomics is interesting, and what you eat even affects the expression of your genes, which differs by individual. Caveat: organic does not mean "pesticide free." If you want an oatMEAL using Bob's brand, grind the oats in a food processor before adding water, pop them in the microwave, or cook on the stovetop.)
🍚Brown rice
🍝Brown rice pasta
🍞Dave's Killer Bread (Try doing it with tofu scramble, and maybe even add the sautéed portobellos!)
🌾Farro
🥣Quinoa
🍝Whole wheat pasta (love this with Smart Balance, salt, minced basil)
Other protein sources, but these also have more carbs than nuts or tofu. Pair well with your complex carbs:
🌱Black beans (try doing a salsa salad with this. Add your choice of salsa and vegan cheese, pair with a Southwest style kale)
🌱Bush's Vegetarian Baked Beans
🌱Chickpeas (Bloat city, though! Eat more rarely. Pair with lots of water drinking before consuming to deal with the fiber and prevent gas.)
🌱Kidney beans (dark red kidney beans pair well with salads, or on their own!)
🌱Lentils

Soooo some shit went down today and I knew I was emotional eater but I also thought I had more control of how my feelings made me feel and the need to feel better with food. I ended up binging on a bag of Trader Joe’s corn tortilla chips (essentially healthy taxis) a regular serving is 150, I ate the whole bag. 1,350. That’s what I normally eat in a whole fuckin day. Idk I weigh myself before I ate the bag because I just wanted to feel good. Tbh my weight was almost at my regular weight when I started calorie counting last week so I was like fuck it. I ate and I ate and I ate. They weren’t even that good to be like yeah let’s keep going I just wanted to not feel so fucking hungry. Idk if I should keep restricting as much as I had been my milk supply was almost half of what it normally is. If I keep going this way I could lose it or it could stabilize out hard to say. The good thing is the only reason I ate the bag was it was a gift from my friend. I didn’t buy it, I wasn’t even craving eating junk food, I just did it out of convince. Im some ways I feel more calm, but my fucking jaw hurts and my mouth feel almost swollen from piping my mouth so much. Part of me wants to keep eatting right now or if I should just drink some water and go to bed. Idk I feel so conflicted with myself. I let myself down. I let future me down again. I want to go eat another snack. But idk I’m so tired and upset over what happens today.

Those little peanut butter crackers (they have protein, so they are yummy + filming to me!), bananas, a little bag of blueberries+ cut strawberries, a yogurt, trader Joe's honey + sesame cashews. Celery or carrots sticks with hummus. A fun trail mix! And also please remember any snack that is getting you to eat when you are having trouble feeding yourself is healthier than not eating! Granola bars are not the 'healthiest' but they are so quick/easy/relatively filling when you are trying to feed yourself in the office with as little thought as possible. 💗
thank you!!!!!! 💞 i’m not generally super concerned with what’s “healthy” but i figure if i’m putting thought into what i’m eating that might as well be a factor (my usual snack right now when i remember is a starbucks banana bread so there’s only room for improvement)

I wish the Trader Joe’s was closer but I have to drive like 1.5 hours so I only go every 6 weeks or so. I should have bought them last time I was there but I was trying to be extremely healthy and thought I’ll get them next time and they were gone ugh! If anyone wants to drop some more just try’s please do. The chocolate croissants and the cream cheese pastries are 10/10 btw. And obviously the mini peanut butter cups you recommended.
an hour and a half!
Chicken pot stickers, gyro meat and pitas, pizza dough and toppings to make homemade pizza, mini stroopwafels (@xowoso taught me those and I'm now obsessed), buffalo chicken dip, many things snack mix, the mediterranean seasoned chickpeas, fried ravioli, so many things!
