ive been reading the old transformers collectors club magazines! love this guy! (im not done reading alas)
kinda obsessed with combiner teams (steven universe phase is shining through). theyre so much fun from a character design perspective, having to design a robot mode, a vehicle mode, and a limb AND how they all fit together and still look cool in action.
expect some menasor/stunticon art >:)
i also have a solus prime design coming soon!

Lucky number 15!
"Look alive, Blades." Heatwave shakes the helicopter's shoulder roughly as he drops a cube in front of him.
Blades smacks him with a rotor, not even bothering to lift his head off the table.
Heatwave smacks his shoulder in retaliation, then slips into the seat next to him. Thankfully the slap fight stops there.
Chase fidgets with his hands, trying to suppress the happy trill of his doorwings. Cohort! Cohort is here! his coding sings.
Which is precisely why he needs to bring this up this morning. It's fairly rare that all four of them get breakfast together- most of Heatwave and Chase's classes are morning classes, and it's rare to see Blades out of bed before midday. But it seems the stars have aligned today, and everyone's in a good mood, so why is he so nervous?
"Have you started thinking about your classes for next semester?" Boulder asks, taking a sip of their cube.
"Oh, Primus, don't remind me," Heatwave bemoans, pressing the palm of his hand to his face. "I have too much to do already to think about that."
Blades gives a noncommittal groan.
"Actually, I wanted to discuss that with you all," Chase blurts, his cohort coding overriding any anxiety he had. "We should take the team classes."
Heatwave raises an eyebrow. "'Team classes'?"
Boulder claps their hands. "I love that idea," they say, optics shining. "The four of us? A team?"
"Yes, this is the year we would have to sign up for it," he continues, scratching at the peeling paint on his wrist. "And we would continue to learn as a team, we would graduate as such, and eventually work as one."
"Yeah, I can get on board with that," Heatwave says, shockingly agreeing without any arguing. "Can't stand my classmates. You guys are alright." He chuckles to himself. "I can at least stand to look at your ugly mugs for more than an hour."
Chase can't suppress the flapping of his doorwings at that. Cohort, cohort, cohort! his coding sings even louder, to the point where his finials start to flick in time to his wings. Cohort together! Cohort stay!
Blades doesn't raise his helm, but his pede gives Chase's a love tap. .:Chase, I love you:. crackles over their internal comms, and Chase has to suppress an embarrassingly happy noise. .:I'm in, I'm so in:.
"I will do all of our registering," Chase tells them, voice tight. He's smiling, it feels a little weird. He feels like he's floating. Cohort stay!! Cohort good, cohort safe, cohort stay!!! "For both the team itself and our classes. You won't have to worry about it."
"Well, you're not gonna hear any arguing from me," Heatwave tells him with a grin, knocking back the rest of his cube. "Alright, I gotta go to class. Thanks, Chase."
He flicks a finial as he walks by, but Chase is too excited to care.
He and the rest of his cohort (his cohort!!!) say their goodbyes and go their separate ways- except for Blades, who is still plastered to the table, cube untouched.
It's going to work this time, Chase tells himself as he heads to the registration office, pre-signed datapad held like precious metal in his hands. They're going to stay. They're cohort. My cohort.
His doorwings don't stop flapping for the rest of the day.

We see in the issue where Bruticus combines that Swindle- despite being comatose? Deadish? Is still present in the shared headspace, and they reference it later on as being pretty traumatic in some ways.
Ambulon is dead when he combines with Defensor. He’s been tended to for months, but he’s still a dead body. And I wonder- how did it feel to combine with him?
Tumblr media
It’s not touched on aside from the “Ambulon is used once more as a plot device”, and quite literally in this moment, but I really do wonder. If combining with Swindle was traumatic even for the Combaticons, what about the Protectobots? What about First Aid? The same First Aid who was so stricken by grief that he spent the past 6 months in his room and workshop, obsessively putting Ambulon back together. Grief-stricken First Aid.

I really really like the headcanon that Breakdown is very lacking in his facial expressions, but the other Stunticons understand him entirely. He gets asked why he's frowning, says he's smiling, and the others back him up because he is smiling. That's how he smiles. How could that person not see that?? Gosh.

Was just trying to collate the Structies between who is an introvert, who could be an extrovert, and was curious your ideas on that with them?
Hook is the only one I solidly am sure on and that is him being introverted.
Scrapper could be either?
Bonecrusher I think would he an introvert?
Just curious your take and why you think which fits which of the boys!
Fun question!
Ok, I'll even do you a good one and try to stay canon-compliant here.
Hook: Like you said, introvert, and the annoying kind too. Completely loathes any form of unnecessary social interaction; if you aren't adding anything to the conversation with your input, please shut up. He would much rather spend time focused on fixing a circuit chip or polishing Megatron's new super weapon. It's kinda funny when you remember his job REQUIRES him to deal with other people (engineer and surgeon). I imagine that at the end of a particularly busy day, he just plops on the bed, his already small social battery completely drained, and if any other Constructicon dares to bug him, they'll probably get verbally berated like never before.
Scrapper: Ambivert. HEAR ME OUT! The group's spokesman, can hold a conversation, and it's the guy we see reporting to superiors. Of course, I also cannot see him as a full extrovert (even if I do think of him as a social butterfly); he has to be at least a little bit of an introvert. I see him enjoying time alone with his... Building materials... Which is bodies, guys, It's bodies.
Bonecrusher: Oof, introvert. If you see him, you might get the impression he does well in socializing, but the truth is he just says what's necessary, does his job, and that's it. Gets more satisfaction doing plans for a Take Down and carrying it out on his own time than in a big gathering with the 'Cons.
Scavenger: Introvert. Takes pleasure in spending time alone in mineshafts and damp holes searching for his next object of interest to show the other 'Cons and Constructicons. Though I do think he pretends to be an extrovert (to disastrous results). His thought process is: "Everyone likes extroverts; they're popular and have lots of friends!" and then he just comes off as an annoying tryhard.
Mixmaster: Unpopular opinion, but this man is an introvert, bruh, no way he isn't. Yes, his personality is bubbly; he talks a lot and interacts with ppl, but I cannot see this man getting energized through social interaction, no. Mainly, his way of recharging his social battery is staying locked in his lab, mixing shit together for his own gratification. Though I guess it depends on how you see him.
Long Haul: Genuinely very hard to decide. On the introverted side, I can see him enjoying time alone and away from construction sites, but isn't this more of a rejection of him being dissatisfied with his function? Hm, I'll say extrovert for him. I feel he does enjoy talking to other people (non-constructicons), and he gets recharged from social interaction (complaining). We can't forget that he's a secret gloryhog, y'all; he wants that sweet recognition so baaad. It can go both ways, tho; I'll leave it ambiguous.

Finally finished my Valentine's Day fanart as much as I'm going to and I just have to say that I love the Technobots and Terrorcons so much even though I like never talk about them.
The Technobots are a bunch of poorly-socialized maniac nerds (shout-out to Strafe's amazing quote, "Shoot everywhere—since that's where the enemies are") who were made from Unicron's brain goop, who combine to turn into a giant guy with a supercomputer for a brain whose calculations are always right... but he takes forever to process anything so by the time he reaches a conclusion it's often too late, and then their rivals the Terrorcons are a bunch of bloodthirsty monsters led by a brilliant strategist who's so hungry all the time his appetite completely eclipses that (relatable), and they combine to turn into a giant guy who just snarls and makes animal noises. And basically every character on both of these teams has some sort of condition that's difficult for them to manage in some way (relatable)! Also this cursed thing happened once

Team goals! (Finally!)
Worked on more photoshoots, but wow, I had to stop after I took this picture. We finally have the band together, and they look good!
It took over four years to finish this set, but I guess patience won out.
Had to take some individual pics before combining, because the individual bots look great together.
Just having them sitting on my stage hits the nostalgia button, since they were the first autobot combiner team to get introduced in the G1 show. I loved my old G1 aerialbots back in the day, but this hits on another level.
Just sharing my thoughts on this set, Primers.😁

tf hyperlink vortex lore..
vortex of polyhex used to be a cargo transporter for medical equipment, and hated it. he even had a red and white paintjob! after a couple of centuries, he eventually managed to turn on his boss and escape, going on the run. but soon after, blades was born, a more advanced model of helicopter that was faster than vortex, and took up his place, so no one bothered to look for vortex. his data was overwritten, and vortex was a forgotten mech, meaning he was free.
while on the run he picked up fighting and pickpocketing and mild impersonation here and there. he got a new paint job and helm. he also learned mnemosurgery from another mech, also on the run, and after killing him (they had minor disagreements) took up a job as an assassin. he got a reputation for being able to recieve accurate testimonies and information out of his targets through unorthodox tortue methods.
one day he was recruited by swindle to get rid of his demanding boss for the company he worked at. but after killing the guy, he found swindle had bailed off, and had even snitched to the cops, pulling some sob story about how vortex was the real agressor. vortex spend a while in prison, escaped, and managed to track swindle soon after. once he found the little traitor, he actually brushed off the whole snitching and bailing thing, and instead made himself swindles newest partner, since he claimed to have a liking to the mech (swindle still doesnt know what exactly made vortex like him so much)
so then it was just swindle and vortex as on the road salseman and his bodyguard. they got a plethora of clients, some worse than others, until one day their client was onslaught, who hired them for to help him with obtaining various weaponry. he was impressed by their skills and compatibility with his comrades blast off and brawl that he made them permanent members of the combaticons

Ooh, if you haven’t done 13 for the ask game, that is my favorite number!
"What's that?"
"Hm?"
Blades turns his head to look back over his shoulder, to where Cody is standing on the floor, pointing at his back.
Oh, and he knows what he's pointing at. Tucked innocently under his rotors is an ugly scar, stretching nearly the width of his back at such an angle that he's not surprised it took Cody this long to notice.
Blades remembers getting that scar. But mostly, he remembers the aftermath.
The wound has permanently damaged the nerves and cables in his protofrom, and he remembers First Aid massaging around it in a desperate attempt to sooth the pain for all of them.
"I'm putting in a request for more painblockers," Streetwise had groaned, draped over a chair. Groove makes an affirmative noise from somewhere just outside his vision.
"Can't," First Aid grits out, and both he and Blades wince in time as he presses a little too hard on the welds. "He's had too many already."
Blades is about to make a rebuttal, something about not talking about him as if he isn't there, but whatever words were in his vocalizer are lost as they short out to a staticky whimper, which causes First Aid's servo to slip, and hit him right into center of the weld, prompting a shout from all five of them.
"Shit," Hot Spot grumbles from the floor. "Can you stop?"
"And those painblockers," Streetwise pipes back up. "I never said anything about giving them to Blades-"
"No." First Aid hisses, and Hot Spot makes an affirmative noise.
"We suffer together," he agrees, sounding very much like he doesn't want to. Upon another uncomfortable press of First Aid's digits, he groans. "On second thought, scratch that, this is stupid and I'm putting in the call."
"Seconding that!" Streetwise calls.
"Yup," Groove mumbles. "No one's fault but your own, Blades."
First Aid sighs. "Once you're feeling better we've gotta get back to training bond control, Blades. This can't keep happening. And no, Hotspot, I can't give you guys painblockers, it's really all in your heads-"
"-you in there? Blaaaaaaaaaaades!"
Blades suddenly snaps out of the memory, his vision snapping down to where Cody is knocking against his leg, looking up at him with concern. Blades tries his best at a reassuring smile.
"I'm sorry," he says, phantom pains sending a shiver down his spinal strut. "Just... lost in thought."
"About how you got the scar?" Cody prompts, and Blades gives him a quick shake of his head.
"About after," he says softly. "With my gestalt."
"Your... gestalt?"
Oh boy. Mistake. "Nevermind," Blades mutters, turning away. "Forget I said anything."
"No, no, wait!" Cody follows him best he can, jumping up to try and tug at his rotors, which Blades flicks out of his reach. "I want to know, if you'll tell me-"
I don't need to tell him. I need to forget them. I have a new family now.
...But we're not sparkbonded.
Probably for the best, honestly. I don't think we could handle how often Heatwave hurts himself.
"Blades?"
"I don't want to talk about it," Blades snaps, his rotors flicking angrily.
Cody flinches away at his tone, one hand raised in an aborted gesture.
Blades pushes the gaping hole threatening to reopen in his chest down as far as it'll go. He knows he shouldn't, he hears Hotspot's voice in his processor telling him it's bad for him, but Primus, he's dead. They're all dead.
It doesn't matter anymore.
