Nobody gets to dictate your gender identity to you. That includes members of the trans community as well. . Certain factions of this community - trans women themselves - will repeatedly insist trans women are "male bodied" and "biological males". They will insist on using outdated terms like "MtF" to refer to the community, and if you push back they will tell you that you're wrong. . Whether you are transgender yourself or not, this is a form of transphobia. . It's also a losing battle. . You can refer to yourself as a biological male as much as you want, but that's not going to endear you to conservatives. They're still going to hate you babe regardless. . But also, what do you think your constant misgendering of yourself is doing to your psyche? ⁣⁣ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝗪𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝⁣ ⁣⁣ On Saturday May 18th, 2019 in Dallas, Texas, Muhlaysia Booker was found fatally shot in the middle of the road around 6:40am. Her death is being investigated with assistance by the FBI as to whether it will be labeled a hate crime. As of now, there are no leads to the death of the 23 year old victim. Assistant Chief Avery Moore announced that they are collaborating to determine if her murder was “motivated by hate or retaliation.” The police department gave no comment when asked if Booker reported receiving death threats before her untimely death.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Last month, April, a video shows Miss Booker being brutally beaten by a group of men that developed after a car accident said to have resulted after she accidentally backed up into another vehicle. Per Booker’s account, the driver held her at gun point and threatened that she pay for the damages on the spot. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ An arrest warrant details that 29 year old, Edward Dominic Thomas, was offered $200 to beat Booker as she was surrounded by a crowd. Female bystanders eventually intervened and pulled Booker to safety. She suffered a concussion, a fracture wrist, and other injuries. A second assailant stomped on her head, but has not been apprehended. Thomas was arrested two days after the assault, but was released on bail soon after.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The Humans Rights Campaign reports that since the start of 2019, at least 5 transgender people are known to have been lost to violence. When somebody tells you that you've misgendered them, the cool guy response is to apologize, move on, and not do it again. . The absolute worst way to respond, on the other hand, is to write a long response explaining why they're Wrong, Actually. . Yeah this is a cis people thing, but it's also something I've noticed truscum - that is, trans people who insist that gender dysphoria and medically transitioning are necessary to be considered transgender - doing quite a bit as well. . It's weird to watch fellow trans folks succumb to their cisnormative biases so much that not only do they misgender me - by directly and repeatedly insisting I have a "male body" - but themselves as well. . But that's not misgendering, they will explain to you. It's just simple biological reality that trans women are biological males, they will explain to you. And you can take hormones but you will always be a biological male, they will explain to you. . Where have I heard that one before? . I wish those of us in the trans community could be kinder to each other. I don't know what truscum hope to accomplish by focusing their ire on their fellow trans people, when there are so much more significant and tangible threats to both them and us. .
