Mariette Pathy Allen Chronicles of Gender Diversity
Today, gender is increasingly understood as a construct open to the interpretation of the individual. A Pantone of possibility rather than a brick-block binary. Such openness is a relatively new state of affairs. Not so long ago, exploring and expressing one’s non-binary psyche was something that must be kept totally hidden or run the risk of public ridicule, ostracism, and physical abuse.
It was in the context of this necessarily secretive world of non-conformist gender expression that the photographer Mariette Pathy Allen first became aware of men who dressed as women. It was to change the direction of her artmaking and, equally, to change the way male-to-female crossdressers were represented in the USA. Over the years she became an unofficial chronicler of the transgender and non-binary community and an activist ally. Her approach has remained constant: the caring and sensitive representation of all gender-diverse identities as part of a human continuum to which we all belong. A triumph of self-actualisation over simplistic convention.
Mariette Pathy Allen discusses her remarkable chronicle of gender diversity at Talking Pictures.

How do we short circuit control? . How do we push back against the expectations the world has of us? How do we live our lives peacefully but while following what we know our purpose to be? . And what's more, how do we honour that journey in others, even when we don't understand their path ourselves? . I don't understand xenogenders. I don't understand people who consider themselves to be transgender, nonbinary, or both but who choose not to medically or physically transition. But I don't have to in order to honour the fact that they're pushing back against the oppressive and hateful realities we all deal with. They're creating space for themselves in a world that demands they conform. . They're short circuiting control. And it's beautiful. . If you see people who don't present in a traditional binary way and find yourself shaking your head, ask yourself what your goal is. Do you want greater freedom and respect for all who stand outside the traditional gender binary, or do you just want it for people who look like you? . (Link in my bio for more of my work) . . . . . #nonbinarypplaretranstoo #nonbinarypals #transgenderrightsarehumanrights #transrights #nonbinarybabes #transgendergirl #transgenderpower #transgenderlife #nonbinaryyoutuber #transgenderstories #transgenderfamily #TransgenderQueen #transition #transgendered #nonbinarygender #transgenders #transgenderartist #nonbinarycutie #trans #transpride #nonbinarybody #transgenderrus #transgenderequality #transgendermaletofemale #TransgenderMentor #transgenderteacher #transgendermtf #transgenderasfuck #transgenderprotections #transgendercommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CWBXS32Lksz/?utm_medium=tumblr

Misceflux
I’m here to add a new addition to the -flux group, Misceflux!
Misceflux is a gender that feels as though it has two or more "parts", "energies," "facets," or "states." One part may be eternally static, parts may fluctuate one at a time, multiple can be fluctuating at varying levels of intensity, parts may fluctuate in groups, or all may fluctuate, though it's never multiple genders, it's parts of one.
For example, you may have a xenic gender with male features and both parts may fluctuate without ever being entirely separate entities, you may have a gender of both masculine and feminine parts where only one fluctuates, or you may be pangender where a few, but not all fluctuate! Things like that!
It could be considered a subset of demiflux, as demiflux is a broad term, but I wanted to make it more specific for my experience as demiflux doesn’t have a solid definition.
Edit: I redesigned the flag, though I’ll still include the originals below because why not.
Here is the new design! :D

I couldn’t choose between which flag design, so tell me which seems better, use both, or I’d love to see your own designs! QwQ

Today is Bi Visibility Day which is a chance to be visible and raise awareness about bisexual people. I am openly bisexual+ (bi+) and because I am it can create invisible barriers when out and about in society or in the workplace. Being bi+ means I am attracted to men, women and those who are non-binary, trans, gender fluid, queer or identify as such. This is often not talked about or thought of and often misunderstood by some. My hope is that one day people will be more aware of gender diverse people, treat us like people recognising that being bi+ is ok and seperate to our identity as a person. #2021bivisibilityday #bisexual #bisexualawarenessweek #genderdiversity #transgender #lgbtqia #LGBTI #nonbinarygender #bisexualityday https://www.instagram.com/p/CUJbSUxJjNI/?utm_medium=tumblr

Today, I’m sharing a cute androgynous look that pays tribute to the Harajuku fashion scene.
I’ve devoted a huge part of my life to clothes and fashion. Clothes is something many people may treat with contempt, as “rugs” or merely a way to cover their bodies. But I know for sure that clothing doesn’t only influence the way others look at you. It’s also a way for you to express yourself. And this gives you ample opportunities to be creative and present yourself each time you go out. You can use your looks to tell others about your mood, your interests, values and attitudes.
I love Asian culture, as my regular readers might have noticed already. I love Hello Kitty and collect Hello Kitty merchandise. I often get into that sweet, cat-like mood when I want someone to pick me up, stroke me, take care of me. And this is a great way to signal the world about my inner emotions, while not going too far into cosplay or any extremes bound to a certain subculture. That is, of course, if you aren’t a cosplayer or a fan of some edgy fashions. That way you might as well get in character and make older people’s heads spin almost every day)))
Now, let’s throw together our affordable and cute androgynous look. Unisex style is meant to suit people of all genders. Anyone can love cats. There are many Hello Kitty fans on across the gender spectrum. The lines of ‘cuteness’ between the pink and blue factions have long been blurred. Being cute is not a bad thing for anyone, especially with genderless fashion trends in countries like Japan and South Korea. Anyway, it might not be a good idea to overdo it with “girlish” attributes like pretty bows and ruffles.
Here’s a tip for sticking to a low-budget with your looks. Try not to throw away any unique or basic pieces of clothing. I never get rid of such items. They wait in the wings until it’s time they become trendy again with their old-school feel, or until I manage to team them up with some newer items. In this look, I’m using a denim overall I’ve had since school — this way, I didn’t have to buy a new similar model at a rather high price. A casual basic white sweater with a collar in a warmer shade was bought in some dime-store. I’ve had these Timberland boots for years, they’re indestructible. I’ve been vegan for several years now, but I think it’s wasteful and not eco-friendly to throw away things that can still be used. Both the old-school quilted velvet jacket with a leopard collar and a fluffy Hello Kitty beanie were bought in a second-hand store for a total price of about $4. These socks were knitted by my auntie. As for wire-wrapped rings, you can even make them yourself like many Harajuku people do.
And that’s it, nyan. You’re such a cute little star. Especially if you have big eyes and a sweet-looking face.
This is how you can express so many things with a single look. Here I am, sweet, cute, a lover of Japan/Hello Kitty/cats/what else. You can tell at first glance that I might identify as nonbinary or simply like cute unisex clothes. Such a kidult. Lechers go away. That’s how much you can say with your looks if you want to.

It's a day to celebrate those who identify as non-binary. The term non-binary refers to gender identities that are not solely male or female‍—‌identities that are outside the gender binary.

Recently I came out as trans, since they wouldn't understand the terms non-binary/genderqueer, to my dad's friend and his family. Their first reaction was, "you don't look trans." How does someone even look trans? If there was a set format to all this, we wouldn't even be here struggling with our identities. 🤦‍♂️ Their next tactic was to placate me saying, "Most females these days dress tomboyishly, so it might just be that. Nothing much to worry about." In the first place, I don't understand what's even there to worry about. I'm just who I am. It's not like being oneself is a huge deal as long as I don't harm someone else. 🤷‍♂️ Finally, the next reaction of their that I recollect now is, "You'll just forget about it once you interact with more people. Socializing will help you get back to normal." What is this 'normal' even? How am I even supposed to 'get back' anywhere when I have always been the way I am, just that I took a bit longer to realize what exactly one would call that? 😪 Each of their reactions was just getting plain RIDDIKULUS!! I'm too exasperated to even comment anymore on this. What about you? How does this make you feel? What has been some your coming out experiences?
