I had big dreams for my life when I was young. The possibilities seemed wide open, the options limitless. I was excited to leave a mark in the world, one way or another. As adulthood has dragged on, however, I find my life becoming more and more defined. The chains of capitalism and material reality have continued to strangle me, and while at times I writhe in resistance to it, as time goes on I surrender more and more to the soulless minions of orthodoxy. . Every day is the same goddamn thing. Part of that is covid, but part of it too is my own fault for surrendering. . Genesis P-Orridge never surrendered . Pioneer of industrial music, prolific artist, nonbinary before there was a term for it, Genesis P-Orridge dedicated their life to short circuiting control, to reclaim their - and, by extension, our - right to build our own identities, to be the writer of our own lives, to be the person we were meant to be, systems of control be damned. . A chapter in, and this book has already brought me to tears. Genesis P-Orridge has already reminded me, a few hundred words in, of that ember of self determination I've done my best to tamp out in the name of living a simple, predictable life. I wanted more than this. Thank you for waking me back up, Genesis. . Genesis died last year, and their autobiography is their final work. Trans Artists and Writers wanted!

We're looking for transgender individuals of all ages, races, nationalities and walks of life to submit art/writing that will be collected to create an online zine focused around trans artwork and experience. This can be an artwork related to your experience as a transgender person or simply something you're proud of doing. This is part of a Minerva Schools initiative on promoting trans visibility and building solidarity between the trans community and the larger LGBQ+ community.

Everyone knows I’m pretty vocal and unapologetic about my trans identity. For me every month is Trans awareness month, being that I’m not only trans but a trans person who’s disadvantaged in many different ways. That being said I’ve remained strong and have powered through most of my challenges since coming out a little over two years ago and starting hormones a little over 15 months ago. I know that despite my disadvantages I also have privileges to match. With that privilege I’d like to use my voice to say please never forget about trans folks out here who are trying hard to stay alive and find our place in a world that says we need to not exist. Please keep in mind the businesses who openly work to exclude us. Help us in the fight to gain basic human rights and equality.
