@jegulus-microfic jan 22 - cry - 873 words
sapphic jegulus feat. pregnant!jamie (and the wonders/horrors of hormones)
“Mh,” James makes around the mouthful of pretzels she keeps dipping into the Nutella, “He’s kicking again!”
Regulus is already off the step ladder, overalls clad knees hitting the plastic covered floor next to where James is slouched in their camping deck chair.
They’re painting the nursery today. Or, Regulus is, while James is putting up her feet as ordered (not by the midwife but by her god damn fiancé so she better listen) and dipping pickled cucumbers into the chocolate cream as well whenever she thinks Regulus isn’t paying attention.
Which she is never not, and especially since James came back to bed out of their en-suite bathroom with a positive pregnancy test that fateful day a few months ago.
James licks her lips off crumbs and takes Regulus’ hand to where Harry is pedaling away inside her stomach, placing her palm over Regulus’ pale fingers.
It doesn’t take too long for Regulus to feel the skin move under her own palm, James’ skin warm where her shirt has ridden up over the bump.
For a woman that’s refusing to put on anything pregnancy wear related she’s been pretty keen on the idea of Regulus in an old crop top and overalls for her painting get-up.
James chuckles above her when Harry goes a little wild at Regulus’ proximity—she’s convinced he can already differentiate between his two moms.
Regulus less so, since he’s barely the size of an eggplant and all.
Still, she indulges her fiancé, and it’s true nonetheless that speaking to the baby firms the connection even as it’s still inside the womb.
Regulus hums happily, lips tugging at the corners and out of the corner of her eye she sees James’ nose scrunching in delight.
“Hello, babyboy,” she speaks at the belly, “Already training for your first triathlon in there, huh?”
James shakes the shaggy hair out of her doe eyes, grinning cockily, “Of course! He’s gonna place first on his very first go, too.”
Regulus rolls her grey eyes, “Not to already put any pressure on him or anything.”
James rolls hers in return, smile not fading as she brushes some of Regulus’ long, wavy hair behind her shoulder, caressing her cheek with her fingertips. “Love, you know damn well I’ll support him in whatever he chooses to like spending his time doing. But to be honest, between the two of us? I’d bet a Turning he’s on a balance bike before he can even run properly.”
Regulus scowls a little, James unperturbed as she looks back at her before arching a brow.
Regulus bends down over her belly again, cupping a hand around her mouth and whispering at their little baby, “She’s right, y’know. But don’t tell her I said that.”
Her fiancé cackles, throwing her head back and Regulus sets her lips down against the belly in a gentle kiss.
There’s a little sore spot in her chest suddenly and she blows out a breath through her nose, still so close to James’ belly Regulus feels the air hit her back.
“Harry,” she starts, “I know I’m probably not a naturally good mommy. There’s still lots of what I have to learn, and unlearn, especially. But I’m doing the work, I promise. I’m reading the books, and talking to my therapist on a set schedule because I love you. You’re not even here for me to hold but I already love you so much I feel like I could pulverize a whole fleet of ships if it meant nothing bad ever happens to you.”
She kisses the bronze skin again, thumb swiping back and forth over the small spot that keeps being pushed at, “I also know that I’ll mess up eventually but that’s okay because that’s normal. And I promise you—I promise, ok?—that I’ll love you so much it’ll make up for all of it.”
Suddenly there’s a sniffle from above and Regulus head whips around alarmed to see James lips in a quivering pout, chin wrinkling and tears welling impossibly high in her bloodshot eyes.
“Baby,” Regulus makes a cooing noise, moving one hand to cup James’ jaw, “Why are you crying, what’s wrong?”
James gives a little hiccup, aggressively gasping up the snot, “That was so sweet, what the fuck.”
Regulus tucks her lips in to keep from breaking into a small laugh and nods understandingly. James’ hormones have been rollercoastering a little the past few weeks.
“And also hot,” she adds, gaze dipping to Regulus’ lips and then lower where she knows the metal of her pierced nipples is peeking through the cotton. James pulls her lower lip between her teeth, gnawing on it before shrugging slightly, distracted by the view, “Talking about raising hell for his well-being and stuff.”
“And stuff,” Regulus parrots, sliding her hand around to James’ waist and licking the corner of her lips, knowing exactly what the best approach is to get James out of her headspace here now.
In the end, all it takes is Regulus leaning in closer, voice husky and telling James she’d kill for their little family without batting an eye for James to ask her to fuck her on the sofa from behind with the mirror in the hallway facing them.

I am so obsessed with girl!nico and jense!! So more rambles cos nnggg my babies and I'm trying hard to finish the fic I am writing soon!
Nico being really nervous when she agrees with Jenson to tell some of the other drivers that they are together? She is normally so confident and determined but now she is blushing and doesn't know what to say so Jenson tells them (probably mark first). Nico being so nervous because she thinks some will react badly? Tell jenson he can do better? She is so relieved when they are happy for them!
Nico and Jenson often going training together for triathlons. Jenson runs faster, but Nico is insanely fast when swimming
Jenson taking Nico camping and at first she isn't sure about it but she surprisingly likes it. It's quiet, she doesn't have to pretend to be her media perfect self because it's her and jenson, and it's cosy and romantic to cuddle up with jenson in the tent!
After they get engaged, jenson shows off the ring so proudly and tells everyone how nico proposed to him!
Jenson loathing Danica Patrick even more than usual lol. Full on rolls his eyes and explains her in detail how wrong she is wrong if she even TRIES to insinuate women don't belong in f1 and nico was just lucky to become champion
Nico giving Jenson a massage? He tries so hard not to squirm having those little warm hands rubbing over his shoulders and back
They become official to the public when Nico kisses Jenson before a race, a deep, sweet kiss for good luck to both!
They break up for a few weeks at soke point, maybe around the point where they both retire. It's too much pressure, too much going on for both and they unfairly take it out on each other. They never stop loving each other tho and get back together!

Blog 1: My Relationship With Nature and Sense of Place Within it
Week 1 Prompt: Describe your current relationship with nature. How has this developed/evolved? Who offered you “a sense of place,” as described in our textbook?
I grew up amongst the rolling hills, creeks forests and farms of Caledon Ontario. Since I was young I have always felt connected to nature, and I account this largely to the setting in which I grew up. Instead of street names, malls, houses, shops and recreation centers, my neighborhood was instead conservation areas, farms and undeveloped land. My friends and I would go for long bike rides and hikes and play in the woods growing up. I think this is where my current relationship with nature has had its roots.
As time went on I became busy, I trained 22hrs a week as a competitive swimmer, went to a highschool in the city and eventually made my way to the university of guelph. Nature and my time in it got further away. I missed it and have since realized the profound impact it has on my well being, so I started to find my way back. I got into triathlons after quitting swimming and started to trail run and bike. To me there is no greater feeling of freedom than moving through outdoor space, particularly one of nature, running and biking re introduced this to me. I then had the chance to work at a mountain top tea house in Banff where I lived without electricity and amenities for a summer. I truly felt I knew the place. By the time I left, I could name every mountain, valley, river, identify countless trees, birds, plants and, having just completed a geomorphology course, understand the topography of the landscape. The friendships I made that summer were unmeasurable in their meaning, and I would say these came about from the full immersion in time, place and nature as well as from the lack of modern distractions and amenities. The level of understanding I gained for that place really intensified my relationship with nature.
The following summer I worked as a park ranger in Terrace British Columbia, we worked 8 days on and 6 days off. During our shifts we would do a combination of backcountry maintenance, public outreach and communication as well as ecological monitoring. Spending days camping in the backcountry at first was scary to me. I feared the large wildlife, moose, bears, cougars etc. However by the end of the summer that fear was replaced by respect, understanding and a sense of security and belonging. To be able to walk through the old growth rainforest, see endangered species, learn cultural histories, and understand the ecology and relationships between species of plants, animals and fungi was eye opening. I feel more at risk in cities and suburbs than I ever have in the great outdoors. When doing public outreach I got to address people's concerns and curiosities about the parks I was working in. There were so many people who had no clue about bear safety or the vital role of predators in our ecosystems. Being able to help explain ecosystems and their importance, as well as, how to take safety precautions to enjoy the outdoors without fear and instead respect, further evolved my relationship with nature and my sense of place in it.
On a different note, I have always had a fear of death, I myself am not religious, and it was in my immersion with nature that I found a healthy peace and respect for it instead. To respond to who offered me a sense of place, I would say it was all the people who helped to shape my understanding of nature as well as those who provided me with the opportunities to explore on my own; there are a lot of people and places that deserve credit. My family when I was young, those I met in the jobs I worked, and the opportunities that came my way present a brief summary.
Enjoy this gif of a bear scratching its back:

Are Triathlon Training Camps Beginner-Friendly?
If you think about starting triathlons but aren't really sure where to get started, you may consider joining a triathlon training camp. With all the intensive swimming, cycling, and running, though, are the camps even beginner-friendly?
Triathlon training camps are structured programs catering to building up one's competencies in the three core triathlon sports: swimming, biking, and running. These usually last from a couple of days to a full week, with expert coaches leading them. Do not be concerned; Mallorca Triathlon Training Camp will address every level of athletes, including complete beginners.
Do the camps cater to all fitness levels?
You won't be thrown into the deep end literally or figuratively at the triathlon training camps. If you are still mastering the basics or building up your endurance, the camp will adjust its approach to meet you where you are. More importantly, you will be surrounded by other participants learning themselves, so really, there isn't an intimidation factor.
Tumblr media
Technique and fundamentals
Perhaps one of the best things that happens in the Mallorca triathlon training for beginners is how the technique is nailed down. One won't simply be told to swim, bike, and run but rather how to perform each component with greater ease. These foundational skills prove to be priceless when one is just starting out.
Group support and motivation
One sure positive about triathlon training camps is camaraderie. You'll be training with people who are also learning, and the coaches and other participants can make all the difference. It is supportive, and team-like, which may perhaps be just what a newbie needs to keep them on track.
Customization for first-timers
With customized workouts and hands-on coaching provided within a supportive community, the above-mentioned details would have otherwise served to ease nerves and get you race-ready. If you think of dipping your toes into the world of the triathlon, well, Mallorca triathlon training may be the way to kick off your journey.

How Melissa Stockwell Is Balancing Parenting and Paralympic Training
Melissa Stockwell has always been about defying the odds. While serving in the US Army as a second lieutenant, she lost a limb in active combat after her vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in 2004. She later set her sights on sports, becoming the first Iraq War veteran to qualify for the Paralympic Games, competing for Team USA in swimming at Beijing 2008. She then upped the ante with triathlons, earning bronze at Rio 2016 and also competing at Tokyo in 2021. But her fourth Paralympic Games at Paris 2024 next month might be her most meaningful yet because for the first time, she'll have her kids by her side. "They know that mommy swims, bikes, and runs all the time, and they've seen me compete once or twice a year, but I want them to see me on the world's biggest stage and see what I actually do," Stockwell tells PS. "I'm sure it'll be more of a challenge at times but it'll be worth it. I can't have them miss it." After all, she wasn't able to bring her children - 9-year-old Dallas and 6-year-old Millie - to the Tokyo Games because of COVID restrictions, and her eldest was just a baby when she competed at Rio. In fact, the Olympic and Paralympic Games have been making it easier for athletes to share their experiences with their families, with P&G even sponsoring an on-site nursery in the Olympic Village. Though her kids are older, Stockwell is grateful for the services. "They really try to make it a family affair and make it as uncomplicated for families as possible," she says. Stockwell will have plenty of support, with about 30 family and friends joining her in the French capital, including her husband, dad, and in-laws. They'll also be traveling over with several other families, also with kids. "We have an incredible village of friends in our network, so there will be plenty of people to help if we need it," she says. More than anything, she wants her kids to see the grit and determination that has earned her everything from a Purple Heart to a Paralympic medal. "It's really important that my kids are seeing me with this definitive goal," says the athlete who's based in Colorado Springs, CO. "We've been counting down the days, and they know it's coming. They see me working toward it. That's huge for not just my kids, but for any kids to see that." With her family at the forefront of Paris 2024, her goal this time around is simple. "I hope to wear that Team USA uniform and represent as best I can - and enjoy myself, race well, and have my training pay off," she says. "I would love to be on that podium." PS: How's your mindset different now that you're a three-time Paralympian already? Melissa Stockwell: I know what to expect. I'm older - I'm one of the older ones competing. That veteran athlete mentality is beneficial because you can manage your stress a little bit more. PS: Is there a certain mantra you're taking with you to this game?I MS: There's a lot of them, like the quote, "I haven't come this far to only get this far." But also my family is just such a huge motivator, and they're going to be on the sidelines. I'm going to be able to race with Team USA and some of my greatest friends. I do this because I enjoy it and I'm really trying to take that to heart. PS: How do you balance training with motherhood? MS: I definitely can't do it alone, that is for sure! I live by the calendar. Every night my husband and I go over our calendar for the next day. Every hour and every minute is filled: who's picking up the kids and who's bringing them to camps, baseball, or whatever it may be. I get all my training in when the kids are at school or at camp, so it's back-to-back-to-back. I don't really have the luxury of recovery in between, but I thrive on that. After I pick up the kids, put my mom hat on: dinner time, bath time, everything that comes with that. It's busy, but I can't complain. PS: How do you deal with those moments when the schedule gets thrown off track? MS:… https://www.popsugar.com/family/melissa-stockwell-2024-paralympics-interview-49379232?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr

“Running has in some sense come back to me in a full circle. It’s the places it takes me and the people I’ve met along the way. I’ve been inspired by many and am so grateful to still have the ability and drive to still run.
I enjoy many forms of running, I like to mix it up. Run with the kids, dog, team relays, speed work, chase vert, trails, mountain runs and more recently embrace the wonderful wacky world of ultra running. That sense of adventure, community and connection is what keeps me motivated.
Earlier memories of running through my schooling years include x-country and duathlons/triathlons. Outdoor Ed during my 5th form year (year 11?) was where I learnt to paddle. Applying this new skill, set in conjunction with running and biking, I entered the Geraldine Mountathalon, which consisted in a run up and over my favourite biggest little mountain, Little Mt Peel. This experience sparked my passion for adventure and competition.
Kayaking led me into the white water rafting and canyoning scene and for the next 20 years I dove into the Adventure Tourism industry. With back to back summers guiding internationally on rivers in Australia, Turkey, Italy, USA, Mexico, China, Japan and Africa. Back in 2021 I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to compete as a member of the New Zealand men’s whitewater rafting team in Japan, also on the Zambezi River, Zambia.
Whilst in these countries a lot of my commuting and exploring when not on the rivers was on foot, hiking and running. Living this active, transient lifestyle everyday was an experience - immersing myself into different cultures, exploring rivers, day trips/multi-day expeditions; working in adverse conditions and on occasion having to deal with situations of duress. As I reflect on this lifestyle, I was at the time, living my best life. I found myself connected and surrounded by like minded people, working with people at their best, clients were there to have a good time, making my job easier. To share, entertain, educate to share an experience whilst getting clients down rivers safely; building bonds with strangers turns into friendships quickly. Often we found ourselves in situations outside of comfort zones and often in remote places. Making for some very memorable adventures.
At the end of this era, along with my family, we chose to return from Japan to New Zealand full time, to open up more opportunities for our boys as we’d rather spoil the boys with experiences as opposed to stuff! Our backyard here has so much to offer and family connection to us is very important. We often find ourselves out and about on Team Adventures... hiking, rogaining, camping, hunting, fishing and supporting each other in our chosen interests. - Rio Rugby, Zac Basketball, Hachi Hiking, myself running. By immersing the boys into the outdoors and sports they can explore, develop, learn values, manage emotions and grow, setting themselves up for whichever paths they choose to pursue.
At first, becoming settled in one place, a “Real Job”, “Normal life”, contributing to society, being a part of “the system” blablabla... I was missing something!
With knowledge of my previous background I was approached about paddling in a 3 person team in the Coast to Coast 2day event. I joined our team runner for training runs up and over goats pass too and it was here I rediscovered my spark for running.
After the C2C, having built up a level of fitness, I had a choice... either to maintain the fitness or stop. At the time, to focus on more than one discipline whilst maintaining that work family balance seemed impossible. My kayaks and bikes soon became somewhat neglected, yet my running shoe collection became quite extensive.
I started out participating in 3/5km series, played around with speed work, 10-21kms then onto ‘runventures’, studying maps dreaming up routes along ridgelines, peak bagging, trail and mountain runs. Then after a few years of making excuses I set myself the goal to attempt a 100 miler before I turn 40. I’m coming up 42 and am currently eyeing up my 5th miler. It isn’t the distance, it’s the journey that intrigues me, whether it be a Road, Trail, Mountain or an Ultra run, I’ve found that something.
Running rivers and running trails to me the processes are very similar... being above a drop, rapid, gorge/canyon. That moment. That feeling of intense focus, nerves, committing to must make moves, fear of the unforeseen, decision making on the go, constant risk assessing, accountability and problem solving, being adaptive and staying present. I love it! Very similar to standing on that start line or the start of a runventure into the hills. Self doubt, self belief, am I ready!? What lies ahead!? How will things unfold!? I’ll never know unless I try... commit, act and react, be adaptive; learning about nutrition, patience, resilience, recovery, putting ya best stroke/foot forward, go with the flow, keep pushing forward and chase that sense of adventure.
Happy Trails. Jog on!"

The Best Couples Therapy That You Have Never Heard Of: Couple Intensives
Relationship Boot Camps or “Couple Intensives” are quickly becoming my favorite approach to treating relationship issues for couples.
These day-long sessions are ground breaking for those seeking to implement changes right away. They also serve as an effective alternative for the many couples who struggle to keep up with the long-term schedule required to attend traditional couple’s therapy.
While traditional couple’s therapy or marriage counseling doesn’t work for everyone, a relationship boot camp is a way to get the benefits of effective couple’s therapy in a hurry and avoid the pitfalls of traditional therapy! This new innovative approach that I, along with a handful of colleagues, are really honing!
For some time, churches and laypeople have offered couples 3 day retreats or a weekend. While these experiences may provide some benefits to couples, they are no match for sessions facilitated by masters of The Couples Institute.
For the last 35 years, the founders, Drs. Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson, have trained therapists in over 50 countries. They’re trusted experts on The Today Show, The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, and more. And they’re sought after guests for the world’s preeminent couples therapy conferences. They are considered pioneers of couples therapy, and they have developed a new intensive apprenticeship program to pass their knowledge off to a few carefully chosen therapists.
Each year, Ellyn and Pete interview and select only 5–10 therapists for their advanced Master Mentoring program. Over the course of a year, we study closely under Drs. Bader and Pearson, learning what they do, why they do it, and how to do it.
There is no other couples therapy training program like it on the planet, and the therapists who graduate are exceptional at identifying couples’ real issues and treating the underlying issues. Many couples who work with therapists from the Master Mentoring program experience massive and lasting relationship transformation and healing, especially after a Couples Intensive experience.
Traditional therapy is time intensive (think weekly meetings for months), involves interruptions (having to get current with therapist about the latest fight and only getting half way through an issue only to wait until the next session to bring it up again), and requires a skilled counseling therapist.
It’s no wonder the average couple doesn’t pursue outside help for healing of their relationship issues.
Couple Intensives provides a welcome alternative.
The term “Couples Intensive” is gaining attention, but the term isn’t widely known among the general population. In my practice, I am still experimenting with the search term and am partial to the term “relationship boot camp” because of my background and time spent in exercise and triathlons.
I am releasing a series of articles where I am going to be providing details on these advantageous sessions. Basically, we set aside a day to work on the relationship.
One couple, one day, with one exceptionally trained therapist!
The couple does some preparation work and then comes in ready to get to work. We establish a laser focus on the agreed upon issue and incorporate interventions that are grounded in many experiences of the Developmental Model approach.
Just last week, I completed one of these marathon sessions with a couple. The couple was able to make a weeks’ worth of progress in one day on an issue they struggled over for the last few years.
In this example, the wife was able to identify and articulate the real reason for her strong desire to save money. She was able to unpack her fear and talk about how scary it was for her to think of not being prepared for the future.
The husband was dealing with his own existential crisis; he didn’t want to have worked so hard only to be told he should be sacrificing more.
Through the session, he was able to express his fear of “dying without living” and his need to be able to experience certain things. The couple was able to understand the other’s desires and they were finally able to negotiate in a way that worked for each of them.
It would have taken at least a month’s worth of traditional therapy to get this far with this issue — that is, if they didn’t have anything else come up in-between counseling sessions.
The above scenario is just one example of a relationship issue that can be quickly and effectively dealt with during a Couple’s Intensive. There is no limit to the potential benefit and healing to couples who participate in these relationship boot camp intensives, provided they are willing to put in the work!
If you are not sure how to go about negotiating difference or there is a real conflict of important values, consider getting personalized Marriage Counseling in Harrisburg with a professional counselor to help you deal with this issue. Schedule your initial therapy session now or inquire about the new Couple Intensives Service available here in Harrisburg PA (completing one of these is like a fast-tracked 3 months of weekly therapy).
