i'm rewatching tron uprising again for the first time in a while and I'd forgotten just how... graphic??? some of the violence is

holes punched in chests (multiple occasions)! a bisected guard dragging themself across the floor & trailing digital gore! a (failed) public execution where the prisioners are being pulled apart by lightcycles! dyson's caved-in skull! tron's entire fucking torture scene that was genuinely harrowing to watch! let's carve out his eye! let's carve out tron's fucking eye!

So my bright mind at 3am came up w an au for LMK which is *DRUMROLLLLL*

A Tron au bc that movie is a banger, atleast to me- and I found some things I liked

So for starters I had a whole idea where in this Macaque lost the side of his face in a disc fight against Wukong

Then I thought abt maybe MK uncovering the virtual universe somehow (bc Tron takes place in a virtual universe-) and meeting Wukong there

The biggest thing I'm iffy abt is the other characters roles in it but this is just an au I'm making on the whim SOOO-

And w Clu, thinking abt it he kinda had the same ideals as LBD in a way, both wanting to create the perfect world/system so there's that

Tron (name of the movie ik, but he is a character-) was taken captive by Clu so in this, bam we have our LBD and Macaque dynamic

ANNNND I think finally ofc a good au needs angst SO- Macaque would end up dying (again-) after becoming self aware, bc in the movie its when Tron realizes who he really is annnnd Clu kindly takes him out w his jet and they fight in the air for abit before Tron gets kicked into the virtual ocean and gets his jet stolen by Clu PFPFKFF-

But I mean it was hinted instead of dying Tron just got uncorrupted by Clu but either way everyone dies bc the virtual world is destroyed- ik cowabummer-

It's his way of saying he loves and appreciates you!

You two will also have mini competitions to see who could do the most tricks in the water

When Donnie first met you he double- no, triple checked his scanners because he couldn't believe his eyes

Worst Tron 3 thoughts I’ve had so far: I bet the arcade won’t even be in it. I bet there won’t even be a Journey song.

first thoughts...

the trailer had all the vibes of a darker bladerunner/cyberpunk 2077 landscape, which tron has deserved since its brilliance with uprising. i loved what i heard of the dialogue. personally, i dont want more lightcycle games and disc wars. we were presented with huge existential concepts in legacy that were mostly left shadowed by the flashy scenes (albeit they were awesome). i love legacy and its my everything, don't get me wrong. but i also love the idea of departing from that exact vibe to explore a new space, the Dillinger Grid, and show the consequences of trying to play God, citing back to Lora as the true breakthrough scientist at Encom to play with organic matter in a digital space (see, the orange tree). I think Greta's character (I bet she's a Flynn or a Bradley but I digress) is following in Lora's footsteps in that way, working with Dillinger but going too far. and nine inch nails is going to make the sexiest, grittiest soundtrack that fits perfectly to this movie. this isn't to say im being a toxic optimist, where nothing can go wrong here, but what i saw scratched the gears in my brain of what tron has desperately needed, making these fantasy-like concepts of users and programs into a concrete sci-fi set of laws that finally puts it on the shelf where it belongs.

time to watch it another twenty times and see what else i can dissect, but i'm seated for the ride ahead.
