This book was incredibly harrowing to read at times. The crimes are discussed in enough detail to form a very clear picture, but not so much that it’s overly graphic. The coauthors discuss the victims and the crimes, as well as the people affected by the crimes, in a respectful yet knowledgeable way, which makes for a compelling read. The way that the coauthors write the information feels a little bit like a professor lecturing (in a good way!) in which that they often break away from the crime that their discussing to talk about something they want us to think about, or to remind us of other information. This book is well worth picking up if you’re a fan of true crime. Nevertheless, I have always been intrigued by this book but just never got round to actually picking it up. And the shocking revelation that she and her family were in Ted's crosshairs. Do you really know your neighbor? Madman in the Woods was definitely a complex read but it's also beautifully written and an incredible journey! Could you imagine finding out that your neighbor who yeah was odd but kind to you ended up being Ted Kaczynski? I can't imagine the confusion that would have caused as a child. The book gives an indepth look into Ted's life but it also shows Jamie's as well. I found it interesting to read how she felt then and now looking back at some of the events. Jamie does a wonderful job drawing you in and then capturing you till the very last page. With vivid descriptions of the area she grew up in, which sounds absolutely beautiful, to something completely normal childhood event to an event that is beyond creepy. It’s #funkofriday and I was gifted this beauty from a good friend this week. #johnwaters is a director who influenced my teens and early 20’s. #hairspray came out just as I was transitioning from middle to high school, that time in your life when you want to start defining who you are by choosing what teams to try out for, what clubs to join, what dreams you want to chase, and who you should surround yourself with. I remember wishing I knew exactly what I wanted like Tracy Turnblad and that I could be as good a friend. Later when #serialmom came out, I was in the midst of a Psychology degree that I started partially to understand myself, but I had also become interested in what drove killers and was reading every #truecrimebook I could squeeze in between my required #reading.
