Anyway what you're seeing here is that, yes, Kai has a saddle that he uses to connect the prosthetic to. The little glowing yellow things around Kai's leg? They're supposed to represent the straps that Kai fastens around his thigh to connect him to Lloyd's prosthetic (but i grew lazy and did not draw them in properly lmao)

Kai's thigh would be strapped to the radioulnar portion of the prosthetic, and the "stirrup" Kai's foot rests in is bolted into this sliding piston in the carpal portion of the prosthetic (which i also did not draw (forgot to) so you'll have to imagine it).

The main idea behind the self-regulating pistons is actually based on a real-life phenomenon called the perching reflex, which is found in birds! A series of "flexor tendons" are attached from the bird's femur and stretch all the way down to the back of the leg and the underside of the toes. When the bird extends its legs, the toes extend as well because the tendons relax; and when the the bird flexes its legs, the toes curl up because now the tendon is stretched around the bones and prevent free movement. This is actually how birds can sit in trees and sleep all night without falling.

Similar thing is happening with the prosthetic, but instead of tendons it's pistons. When Kai flexes his leg, his thigh draws up the upper portion of the prosthetic and his flexing ankle (dorsiflexion) curls up the prosthetic's fingers, so to speak; and when Kai straightens his leg, his thigh pushes the upper portion downward, and his foot extension (plantarflexion) also extends the fingers.

I know this sounds like an absolute workout for Kai, and it is, and you may think by the time he comes back after numerous test flights everyone is very aware of his bulging quads, but it's not that obvious; it's like riding bicycle, if you think about. a really long bicycle. with one leg. while flying in the air. It's pretty much the same thing.

TLDR: there is a saddle that connects to the prosthetic. Kai sits on the saddle and uses his leg to adjust Lloyd’s prosthetic

i swear no one hates the pale princess and the six pygmies more than anyone that tries to make sense of genshin lore for any extended amount of time

like i am starting to feel at least like 85% confident (among many others) that we might FINALLY have our first fucking semblance of a clue as to what the events depicted in it could even be with the 3rd descender lore reveals bc like. 3rd descender being the light prince just Really clicks with multiple beats in there including but not limited to the specific mention of a "curse" falling the six pygmies from the remnants of the prince like. HUH. when the gnoses made from the 3rd are also described as a curse. and thats genuinely incredibly exciting bc it feels actually plausible.

but. because this book is still the actual worst designed to torture us all. that just also makes everything even more confusing 😭 bc one fairly prevalent thing (that i personally found quite compelling) with pale princess theories was her possible identity as the seelie ancestor who fell in love with a human and led to the downfall of their race. which has always been highkey giving the night mother destroying the moonlight kingdom and cursing the people of the pale princess into an "undead state, lingering at the point between life and death forevermore". like thats Way too on the nose with how the pale princess is literally the light princes lover so. yeah seelie ancestor always a strong contender for that one. but also what the fuck does that mean for the timeline

and dont even get me started with the pygmies like. who the fuck are the pygmies it makes me want to morb. obviously a ton of theories have tried to fit the archons as the pygmies but its always been a little ehhhhhh at least when attempting to fit our current archons as a whole (+ the whole. 6 pygmies 7 archons things). but the pygmies = cursed from the princes remains part is also like. very gnosis aligned after the fontaine AQ reveals so go figure. i hate this shit 😭

i also saw a speculation on the pygmies as the sovereigns given its likely scyllas already kicked the bucket at the point the 3rd descender happened (since he was already dead when the shade of life was creating egeria) so 7 lizards turning into 6 remaining pygmies in the story has no numerical dissonance. but that keeps raising questions still bc of how gnosis coded the princes death and the ensuing curse feels!! i hate this book have i mentioned that already. but i do find it a compelling argument solely on account of how much better the sovereigns would fit the timeline of sth that happened thousands of years ago Especially if the fall of the seelie queen is involved in any form. also read a good point that some of the pygmy descriptions could arguably fit the 2 of the ancient sovereigns slash likely candidates better than any archon, specifically apep for the pygmy only caring for its own garden and azhdaha for the blind one.

but then its like. if the betrayal of the 3rd was by the defeated and remaining sovereigns it kinda makes the gnosis thing another question mark. like we still lack so much info on the connections and the timeline between the stolen thrones of authority, the war of vengeance and ensuing weakening of the POs "functions" leading to the establishment of the vision system and the archon war and where the gnoses fall in all of this. hhhhhhhhhh

so like whether the six pygmies are some assortment of archons or the sovereigns or some other group altogether we are still so utterly clueless its terrible 😭

i think the only real theory that i think ppl should just let die is tsaritsa as the pale princess tho like. lmao aintnoway hoyo will ever make a playable character who has a very good chance of being the obligatory bronya expy be someone with a canon male love interest are you hearing yourselves 💀 its not even that i think itd be like shit writing or sth im just purely asking ppl to be realistic with the unfortunate self imposed limitations of a gacha game developer. though the tsaritsa somehow having a connection to the pale princess and the events of the story (assuming its the 3rd descender debacle) would be very fascinating.

also someone noted that the exiled pygmy taking the princes body to a "tree hollow" may not be literal at all and instead imply the 3rd after being killed and turned into the gnoses being integrated into the irminsul and all ensuing samsara rebirth cycles which.... interesting.

𝐂𝐂𝐗𝐈𝐕. Lately, I've been thinking about people saying that Vedrfolnir has reasons to stop caring about Khaenri'ah after he was blinded by its last king and in what position this would leave Dain for seeking vengeance on his own brother too, despite this fact (one I believe that would make him upset too, even lose his faith not so much in the whole kingdom as in the king which could've led him to be the one committing regicide). Specially when, unlike Lumine who puts the blame on Dain for failing to protect Khaenri'ah, he doesn't blame the Five Sinners including his older brother for the same— but because they didn't even try.

And I think that there is more to this if by some chance, the prophecy that angered king Irmin enough to blind Vedrfolnir and to put him in a dangerous enough situation to need saving from Dain (relevant enough to save Khaenri'ah in the process as a secondary thing, at that) was about the kingdom's fall as a consequence of their king's actions. I firmly believe that if Dain didn't know why Vedrfolnir was put in that situation, that he would know about the prophecy he gave the king and this will be important for what I'm about to say in a bit. Moving on, this continued on having Lumine absorb an unlimited abyssal power (let's remember from Chlothar's words that it was believed in Khaenri'ah that the Abyss can contest the gods and potentially overthrow them, to think of a valid reason why Lumine was being used that way), making of her as it is described in the wind glider "the key to the world's near-annihilation" aka the Cataclysm.

Now, I don't believe her to be the only reason for the Cataclysm nor Khaenri'ah's destruction, more so the beginning of a chain of effects that would happen later on that ultimately brought destruction to Khaenri'ah and wrecked havoc all over Teyvat. I say this because if the fact that she was made to absorb unlimited abyssal power was enough for her to become the key, then I have zero doubts that dividing that abyssal power (either the same or to have an opening to more of it from the same source) among the five that would later be known as the Five Sinners added fuel to the fire.

This is what I think that made Dain so upset about the Five Sinners (four of which he had also gathered to save Vedrfolnir, if we're to think of them as the "brilliant young ones of the age"). These were people who carried the hopes of the people of Khaenri'ah, thanks to who the kingdom was even saved once, only to end up contributing to its eventual destruction. If the content of the prophecy bestowed to king Irmin was the nation's destruction, irregardless of how vague or detailed it may be in combination with a brilliant mind such as Vedrfolnir's was described (to add more, his schemes with the Abyss Order + Fontaine's prophecy), he could think of ways of preventing that from happening if there was any love for the country left in him (I'd understand the case being the opposite, though). And even if there was none, to defend it.

What makes me confused and a good reason why I think that it fuels Dain's anger towards him is his involvement with the Abyss Order and the possibility that its creation was just one more step towards some goal he has. Just like when someone has the ability to glimpse into the future may try to avoid it, they can also tip the scales in the right direction to make it happen. And as far as the Abyss Order goals' go, strangely enough, they seem to align with the common belief in Khaenri'ah that the Abyss can overthrow the gods and thus plunge the whole world into darkness due to some vendetta they have against those people who decided to continue their lives under the Seven (there are several item descriptions and/or dialogues from Abyss Order-aligned enemies that talk about ignorance and wanting to force the "truth" on the people). The reason why this confuses me about Vedrfolnir is that this take was probably aligned with his own, and that still he chose to do nothing to prevent the disaster in Khaenri'ah by becoming one of the reasons it happened in the first place, too.

Woe fan seasonal spirits be upon ye ✨

YEAH THATS RIGHT for one of my uni projects I decided to design some seasonal spirits plus a guide for my own hypothetical Sky season! The original concept was having a skykid guide the player helps uncover some of the ruins and truths left buried by the ancestor spirits, though I kinda had to just focus on the designs themselves due to time woooo

Each of these spirits were probably alive when the dark stone pollution/general issues in the kingdom came to ahead. The idea that Fearful Florist was trying to preserve some of the flowers destroyed by the pollution, Caring Fisherman used to fish for light creatures for dark stone processing but later came back and freed them and finally Starry Manta Rider used to raise Mantas but slowly watched as they were either taken or became spirits.. mmmm we love fun lore ✨

(The seasonal location would probably be in a desert area outside the Vault of Knowledge, similar to Isle, Wasteland and the Little Prince area! I imagine it’s accessed through a crack in the vaults walls. Maybe the player follows a little starry manta to get there?)

I did have ideas for seasonal quests like uncovering the spirits pasts or saving the guide from a krill during one of their investigations of some ruins but did not have to do draw it sadly ;-;

Tangentially related, Breath of the Wild and especially Tears of the Kingdom have pretty strongly implied that most deities don't really work on human systems of morality. The Horned Statue considers money and life force interchangeable, the Bargainer just cares about getting souls to the afterlife (and outright says it doesn't care about mortal morals), Malanya cares about horses at the expense of everything else...

My point is, in light of this lore, it's very probable that Hylia, as a goddess, didn't really run on the same ideas of right and wrong as mortals either and only came to understand the questionable morality of her actions after living as a mortal herself. Which is not necessarily an excuse but does fit the established lore and is more interesting than making her a massive jerk for no reason.

im back on my Hylia did nothing wrong soap box. if i see one more thing about hylia making heroes lives miserable imma have to,, do something dramatic. why would the links point at her for everything gone wrong in their lives when ganon is RIGHT THERE actively lowering their quality of life.

the only link i could really see having a weird relationship with hylia is sksw link and thats because of the "manipulation" hylia/zelda believes she pulled on link even tho he wouldve done it all for her anyways. she did her best. demise kinda killed hylia, she was low on options.

all she does is help in botw/totk. she helps link regain his strength when given offerings. shes not as strong as she used to be. demise kinda killed her, remember? she DID try and talk to zelda through dreams but the reception seemed kinda bad

ITS DONE!! It took forever but it was worth it :D I drew this for my half-baked poolverine au! It’s kind of a post-apocalyptic time skip, and it’s based on 616 Wade and Wolvie, so not from the Poolverine movie >•< I’m thinking of maybe doing a couple more pieces of them in this au :D

AU lore dump/intro (TL;DR at the end):

It’s been decades (maybe even centuries - who’s keeping track?) since civilisation collapsed, and there’s little left but ruins and bones. Shattered buildings, once tall and steady, litter the skyline.

By all accounts, it’s the end of the world.

And yet, Wade Wilson and Logan Howlett still live on. Their healing factors, although not as fast as they once were, still refuse to let them die. Everyone, and everything, they had once known though, is long gone. Taken by the collapse or just the quiet passing of time. But they’ve managed to find each other, and they’ve made it work.

Right after the collapse, Logan spent months alone, furious and hurting at the loss of the people he’d never been able to admit he cared for. He never stopped moving, tracking faint scent trails across near-empty countries, looking for someone, anyone, that he had known before. Looking for those that he didn’t yet know were alive or dead. ‘Ro, Kurt, Laura, Scott - anyone. Well- anyone but Wade Fucking Wilson.

Logan tries getting rid of Wade for a while after they meet. He yells at him, stabs him, threatens him - but Wade clings on like a damn limpet. A loud, overly affectionate limpet. And for the next few weeks, Logan does not know silence. Wade follows him everywhere.

Eventually, Logan just gives up and stops trying to abandon him in a cave somewhere. He even starts sharing his food and water when it becomes clear that Wade has the self-preservation skills of a newly born puppy. And now that he’s not actively trying to lose Wade, Logan starts noticing something weird’s going on with him. More so than usual, anyway. Sometimes he’ll just stop mid-sentence, confused, unsure of what he was talking about or what he was doing. Or he’ll miss a step while walking, and look around like he’s not sure when he’d gotten here. (Think Wade in the Deadpool and Cable comics prior to Nate using his funky telepathic powers to make it better). He asks Wade about it, and gets a messy answer about regenerative healing factors, cancer, and ‘people who keep fucking about with his brain cells’. Logan chalks it up to what happened in the collapse - no one got out of that unscathed.

Once it’s clear that it’s not something Logan can fix with his claws or his tools, he stops asking. Instead, he compensates. They make it work. Logan gets good at giving Wade the rundown of what’s happened that day when Wade forgets, and dragging him back when he wanders off. And Wade knows to pull Logan out of his thoughts when he notices his Wolvie being a bit too broody and standoffish. Wade understands what Logan’s lost, why he’s still looking so desperately for the ones he loved. Wade had lost his own people, though he has no reason to search like Logan. You can’t look for someone you’ve already buried.

And so Logan and Wade keep travelling. Weeks turn into months, months turn into years, and years turn into decades. The little outposts of survivors that they come across get sparser and sparser, until they disappear completely. Green starts taking over shattered concrete and brick, and the rubble of cities gets covered by a layer of moss and brush. Animals begin settling in on top of the remains of what was once human, and it becomes easier to think that maybe people had never walked the earth at all.

And soon, it becomes clear. They’re the only ones left.

TL;DR: A ‘would you love me if I was the only man left on earth’ situation but it’s not hypothetical.

Overusage of Lore

a lot of people tend to say that bioware put little to no lore into Veilguard, and i might be on a minority on this to me it's way too much and way too shallow

The entire game feels like writers just scream at you "Look at all the magical thing we have!! So we have Titans! And Evanuris! And Illuminati Those Across the See! And-- are you listening? You better listen cuz there are more! We have Shadow Dragons! We have Griffons! We--"

the best thing in DA was the way it beautifully showed real life issues through the lens of medieval fantasy world.

The dalish weren't so fascinating because they had an entire language made for them and pretty tattoos. They were fascinating because they were enslaved, fought for freedom, then got their land taken away YET STILL continued to fight for survival, for their cultural identity, their children and their children's children, for freedom. Literally combination of native american's and jewish history. Because despite having one goal they all had different approach and opinion about other of their kin: city elves (those disconnected from their culture) and half-elves ("can they be considered elves?" "should they be allowed to be a part of dalish?").

The city elf origin wasn't so memorable because every npc had a backstory with a length of bible. It was memorable because it was the most obvious analogy on racial oppression, segregation, colonialism and fetishism in the entire franchise. Because it had the guts to actually show in details the horrors of these things.

Broodmothers weren't so horrifying because it's a female mixture of jubba hutt and a fucking pudge from dota with a detailed explanation their anatomy. They were horrifying because they were paralleling a very real misogyny, mistreatment, the way how women in some countries are seen as nothing but a walking uteruses, where the only thing they're good for is to give birth

AND bioware doubled it while doing the same thing with Orzammar, cast system & Rica!

The Circles weren't so interesting because we've got dozens of pages in WoT explaining their hierarchy/fraternities. No, they were interesting because it was literally a bunch of medieval GULAGs with a function of a mental hospital, it showed what mistreatments happen there, the abuse, child abduction and enforcement of religion.... And from the side of templars it was a discussion about professional deformation, addictions and the way high ranking people abuse those to control their underlings.

..... And you know, if we were back in origins, griffons, for example, would've probably been used as a parallel on irl eco terrorism. it might've been about how Wardens despite their good nature unintentionally bonded the general association of the entire animal species to their order and abused this connection to the point when the species was beyond preservation!

and btw, then that decision in davrin's quest would actually had any meaning, instead of throwing wardens into mud (again) and turning isseya into a villain for no fkn reason.

lore is only good as long as it's used for purpose, when it has things to discuss, not just exist

i don't fucking care about titans/evanuris/and other shit because they're just a 30 pages long article in codex and WoT trying to explain magic and write DA timeline almost to a fucking mesozoic era. it's BORING. Get me emotionally invested, then i'll care

Welcome to the planet Uuntya. Uuntya is a massive, ocean-covered super-planet that is home to multiple alien species, but is primarily dominated by the anthropomorphic reptilians known as the Leviathans. The ancient Leviathans had seized control of Uuntya millions of years ago with their advanced technology, having fled from a desolate world in search of starting life anew on another. Much time as passed since then and the modern Leviathans have only ever known life on Uuntya, their alien history lost to time, as well as their advanced technology. Now, the Leviathans and other species of Uuntya live with technology akin to that of the seventeenth century. There is one fabled Leviathan that's earned herself a name like no other: Titania Marooner. Captain Titania Marooner is the founder of a small yet rambunctious and notorious crew: the Barbaric Hurricanes. Titania prefers to be called by her last name, “Marooner” by others. Titania appears to be very stoic and blunt, however, that’s to no fault of her own. She’s often very unaware of how truly imposing she appears, and despite what she had been through, she sports a very gregarious and easy-going personality. She can be quick to irritation, though. After escaping an arranged marriage, Titania struggled to make a living for herself for some time. Her marriage had ended on a quiet note, but she did not realize she was pregnant until moons after she had left. Determined to make a good life for her eggs, she took up any job she possibly could. Unfortunately, most of these jobs, under the eye of an oppressive monarchy, were not suitable enough to make a living off of. This had led her to taking up the job as a deck-mopper on a monarch crew. Little did she know the true intention of the captain when he had enthralled her with promises of riches after a deep-sea plundering. Titania was nothing more than fodder. She had spent many years at sea with these Leviathans, though not a moment of it was enjoyable. She had struck a brief relationship with the captain out of sheer boredom and to have a safe place to keep her eggs while she worked, but it ended poorly. One day, when the crew had been stranded, Titania chose to flee from the crew. In shambles they attempted to hunt her down, seeing her as nothing more than prey. In the end, the crew had cannibalized most of each other, and the last one standing was Titania herself. There was one problem though: their boat was wrecked and there was no food… Or so titania thought. There was enough meat to salvage of her crew, so, she ate them. She preserved what she could and survived off of Leviathan flesh and rum as she rebuilt a boat for herself out of what was left. In that time, her sanity had begun to slip, but not too far. She was only alone for about four months before she had managed to mend a makeshift boat and took to sea, she was eventually taken in by others. Titania returned to the lands changed and with a newfound craving for the blood of her own kind. This led her down a harrowing path where she eventually met her current wife, Dolores. Around this time Titania's eggs had finally hatched and she named her sons Eel, Urchin, and Slug. Eventually Dolores and Titania teamed up and picked up bands of misfits along the way, eventually forming their crew, "the Barbaric Hurricanes", bonded by common goals: bloodshed, adventure, and delegating the monarchy. The monarchs and their pawns were the perfect prey, after all. Now, the Barbaric Hurricanes maintain a wicked and morally questionable means of usurping the monarchy- liberating those beneath while still feeding themselves. They eat the rich, quite literally.

and yes titania and dolores are cannibal parents that raise their kids with love. and cannibalism. i'll elaborate on this more in the future

Got a rude response from someone I reblogged from so I'm making my own post about Ice Flight because um--

Hey Ice Flight can be pretty cool actually and be different from the rest of the flights, and this post is gonna be my two cents about it. I've seen people go around just summing it up as "cops" when just like every other Flight they can be so much more?

While first, I do agree that Ice’s aesthetic is kinda weak as is. Not a lot you can do with the same winter themes over and over with the occasional broken chain motif. I’d love to see people get creative to what they think Ice represents and how they contribute to Sornieth’s systems, cultures, and dragons as a whole.

I see ice flight specializing in stuff like collection and cataloguing as iirc before the map update it said those were things Ice Flight likes. I think where Earth is Uncovering What Was, Ice is about Preserving What Is.

They’re not entirely just cops (and even then stripping them to just the role of "cop" is a bad take). They’re also researchers of the things they fear, and of relics that need studying. In my head Ice would probably have the best museums, archives, and storage houses. What better way to preserve or trap something than in ice?

They’re a flight of Order, not so much in the sense of cops and law but a flight that bulks when there’s a sense of disorder or chaos, disorganization, and imperfection. If it’s uncategorized, unsorted, then it needs to be so in order to be learned. Where Lightning is stats and progression, Ice is pattern recognition (Tundra’s memory being linked to their smell may also reflect this) and tradition (Gaolers role system and lack of awareness about the state of Sornieth and not just the Ice Fields).

This can be extended then into interests, individual home cultures, businesses and what not. Why not start a collection of rocks? Or insects? They’d know best how to preserve it. Need something specific from the shop? Probably very easy to find if you know the qualities and traits you’re looking for. Need something preserved for safe keeping? They’ll do that, and they’ll do it awfully well. Perfectly. The systems have to be perfect. The line up has to be perfect and up-kept and looked after intensely— possibly so intense it’s evolving into passion. There can certainly be a sense of pride.

Combine with the lore that Ice is typically more hostile to outsiders due to their melting home I can see them being much more traditional and closed off. Not quite isolated, but having a more unique culture that’s a little more closed off from others and not quite as shared, trying to preserve what is left of their home and traditions.

What about urban legends and superstition? They’re guarding creatures and horrors in those prisons, surely the local resident dragons have folklore over that? What about fishing and hunting, two very popular ways to get food or supplies in climates like these? Where are the ice fisherman skins or hunters bound in furs? What about the fauna or flora found in the region we can probably make skins for that too.

Existential horror can also be fun; remember, relatively recently Gaolers learned that Sornieth has changed. Dragons of other flights have other magic not native to their elements and in addition the age old threat of Shade that seems to be making new problems for new times.

We have a flight literally dealing first hand with monsters and horrors existing already on the planet and in its own prisons and fighting against it, yet people relegate that to Arcane. 😔 Unlike Arcane, the unknown is already here in Ice.

You could easily take inspiration from the movie The Thing, too. It writes itself ngl.

Theres much to do and think about with Ice when you remember this is a region with its own people and culture and not just an aesthetic, and I’d like to see it dabbled in more. Even if it’s just headcanon, you can make it into a skin. That’s what people have done with Light with the whole angelic themes, so why not take creative spins on ice too?

Give ice some headcanon love like y’all do with Arcane and Light. Those flights aren’t about eldritch horror or angels but there’s endless skins for them about it. Give ice some of that same ole love too 💕
