Details:
Price: 28,940 Lot Size: 10x10 Version: 1.42 Store Content: None CC Used: None Packs Needed: The Sims 3, Ambitions File Type: Package
Hello! I created this lot a long time ago when I wanted to place a consignment store in Sunset Valley but didn't really liked the premade lot EA provided because it was too big and a consignment lot was not a priority for my active family at the time.
Click on the Keep Reading below for more information and pictures on this lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cleaned this lot of CC clutter and kept it strictly for Ambitions expansion pack, which is required for the consignment lot to work in your game.
This is a flat lot with a size of 10x10, making it easier to place in any world or flat surface.
For some reason, this lot is popular with inactive sims and it can get a little crowded. So I removed anything that requires them to linger in that small space (television, radios, gaming tech) except for the small bookcase in the corner. I placed two couches upstairs for them to use and it's mostly decor on the second floor with a "dressing room".
This lot has been play-tested and I've used it in all my saved games. Let me know if you experience any problems on your end.
1st Floor:
Consignment Register
The Sims 3 and Ambitions Clutter: Kitchen items, old end tables, mirrors, paintings, lamps, books and knick knacks
2nd Floor:
Clothes Rack
Dressing Room
Couches
Mirrors

As I'm doing a rags-to-riches challenge atm for gen 3 of my Random Legacy, I've been looking into mods that make the off-grid experience in TS3 a bit more realistic
I hope this list will be especially useful as a resource for anyone doing rags-to-riches, runaway teen, midnight sun, zombie apocalypse or any other similar challenge which requires your sim to live off the land - I personally love this gameplay style, and I hope this is useful for others too!
As always, if anyone has any suggestions of mods / CC I should add to this list, let me know and I'll update it - it's definitely not exhaustive by any means :)
Mods:
Moar Interactions by Buzzler on MTS
I recommend this mod regardless of if you're playing off-the-grid because it adds a bunch of great stuff, but the interactions particularly useful for this gameplay style are 'work overtime' at the small businesses around town, allowing your sim to earn a bit of extra cash without being officially employed, and also the ability to 'cancel the carpool / schoolbus' (because a carpool wouldn't agree to pick your sim up from their camp in the middle of the woods)
Nraas Careers via Nraas Industries
This mod allows your teen / child sims to be enrolled in home-schooling, which makes much more sense if they're living as a runaway - tutorial for how to assign them to homeschooling is here - I also reccomend using storyprogression to disable curfew for your teen sims if you're playing them as a runaway (tutorial here)
Nraas GoHere via Nraas Industries
This might be a bit random - but this mod is an abseloute lifesaver if your sim doesn't have a car, you can force them to walk long distances without automatically getting in a taxi (best used when combined with the taxi charge mod - linked below)
One with Nature by Spherefish on MTS
This mod is basically the GOAT for off-grid gameplay - it adds the ability to sleep on the floor, pee on the floor, have sponge baths in the ocean / swimming pool and also to relax / daydream on the ground
Pay for the gym by ani on MTS
Some people won't like this one as it definitely makes runaway / rags-to-riches challenges a lot more challenging, but in combination with the other mods I think it makes sense to charge for hot showers when your sim could just go for a wild swim instead!
No Fridge Shopping via Nraas Industries
No more magically buying ingredients from the fridge - your off-grid sim has to grow the produce themselves or go to the supermarket if they want to cook!
Taxi Charge & Subway Charge on MTS
Challenges such as runaway teen require you to buy a flamingo every time your sim takes a taxi - this removes that requirement as your sim gets automatically charged 6-20 simoleons depending on their age - Subway Charge does the same for your Bridgeport sims
No Stretch Children Can Series by Kapaer on MTS
I always recommend this mod for general gameplay anyway, but it's especially useful if you've got kids in your household for offgrid living, they're no longer completely useless!
Attend University online by TwinSimming on Tumblr
Similar to the homeschooling option from nraas careers (linked above), this allows your sim to attend university entirely from the comfort of their computer - they do still have to pay for the degree though!
Off-Grid Inventing Overhaul by SimState on MTS
Allows your inventor sims to create household objects through the inventing table - so you don't have to save up to buy them if your sim is crafty enough!
Ani's Various Mods
I particularly recommend the 'mountain bike' mod which allows your sims to ride a bike around without roads, as well as the 'ration box' mod & 'consignment'
Sleep on Sofa / Bench by Sammonsim on MTS
Scroll down to post #22 in this thread to get the link to this mod - it basically allows your sims to get a full nights sleep on a sofa / bench without having to queue up 50 'nap' interactions
Functional Wells / Off Grid Plumbing & Functional Washboard
This makes your sim have to collect buckets of water from a well if they want to shower / wash the dishes etc. The functional washboard allows them to wash their clothes in a less mechanical way, I reccomend using Danjaley's functional well cc in addition to the plumbing mod as it adds a few more options for your style of lot
Custom Content:
Pallet bed set on tumblr
BionicZombie's Basement Treasures TS4 conversio
Travel Items by Everlasting Garden
Working Futon on MTS
Hollow bee tree on MTS
Camping time set by Toreno
Around The Sims 3:
Camping Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 Eco Living TS4 Conversion Into The Wild Trashes & Bonfires / Part 2 Stray Life City / Stray Life Woods Beer Keg / Wine Barrel Squat Bedroom
Twinsimming:
Into the wild set TS4 Werewolves conversion
Simzoo:
All-In-One Bush / Toilet bush Rock / Bucket sink Log Bench / Bench 2 / Rock Stool / Wood Box Cushioned Seat Tree Dresser Haystack bed / Log bed Single table-style counter Raft pool lounger Firepit set
TheSimsResource:
Disclaimer: I do not endorse or condone using this website, unfortunately a lot of great CC for TS3 is locked behind it due to the age of the game - so I've linked some of it here, but I recommend using a reliable adblocker (personally I use Ublock Origin for firefox) before visiting it / downloading anything
Hayloft bunk-bed More Mailboxes (These are a lot less space-consuming than the default mailbox, and I like to either attach them to trees or just hide them in bushes on my off-grid lots lol) The homeless pet set Trapper Bedroom All of cyclonesue's stuff for urban environments

Tiny Town Challenge Expanded - The Sims 3
The inspiration for this challenge came from Deligracy's Tiny Town challenge for The Sims 4 (Original rules HERE). I loved the idea of the challenge, but The Sims 3 has a huge advantage: it already has an open world, so the houses didn't need to be restricted to one lot, but instead, we could build a real community. That's why, in addition to translating, I took some time to adapt it in the best possible way to everything that TS3 offers us.
I kept the characteristics of the Sims from the original challenge as best as I could, but adapted them to keep them as "autonomous" as possible.
I have all the expansions and stuff packs, so feel free to do only what fits into what you already have in your game and/or adapt it as best you can.
Tumblr media
When I saw the Stardew Valley map by @boringbones, I felt this would be a perfect match! You don't have to start on the same map as me, but I strongly suggest you start on a tiny or small mapto really have the proximity between the lots and, even better, if it's empty so you can populate it as you play with the Sims.
I'm just starting to play this challenge, so not all the rules have been tested. I will adapt as needed and welcome suggestions.
Tags: #TinyTownTS3 #tiny town challenge ts3 or tag my "@". I would love to know you're playing too. 😍
The Goal
The goal of this challenge is to build a town with tiny houses for up to 16 Sims (depending on whether you want to use mods or not or which packs you own) that match their desires and skills.
You can watch my gameplay of this challenge on my YouTube channel here. (link to be available soon)
The Stardew Valley map can be purchased here (link for download).
The Rundown
Each Sim has a set skill that you must utilize to fund the construction of their tiny home. For example, Frank Stem likes flower arranging, so you must sell flower arrangements to fund his Tiny House build.
You must also represent each Sim's favorite style and color in the build (see the Sim characters below). You can only work on one Sim's house at a time, moving each Sim in individually as you "unlock" them.
To "unlock" the next Sim, you must complete the previous Sim's home.
How to Play
Start by moving your first Sim into a lot of your choice.
To select your first Sim, you can use an online randomizer or simply choose your favorite.
After moving your first Sim in, use a money cheat to set the Sim's money to $0.
Each Sim should start on their lot with their skill item of choice and some useful items. They also start with a sleeping bag (requires Generations), a mini fridge, and an All-in-One Bathroom (requires Island Paradise, Into the Future, or Movie Stuff). Feel free to adjust these items if you don't have the necessary packs. After placing these items on the lot, set the money back to $0.
After finding your skill items, start earning Simoleons by selling your creations!
Use this money to build your Sim's tiny home!
Since we don't have a sales table in The Sims 3 like we do in The Sims 4, I suggest that all collectibles and creations be sold at the consignment store (requires: NRAAS Consigner - [link HERE]).
Extra Rules and Ideas
Your Sims can contribute to community areas to help other neighbors when they move in and to create a pleasant sense of community and lifestyle. Ideas could be a shared laundry, bathroom, BBQ area, garden, central square, pool, etc.
As you play, your town will grow and your community will become fuller. When you reach the last Sim, you can go back to playing with the first family, and here, my suggestion would be to put everyone in a rotational household using Story Progression and evolve with each family.
If you don't have all the necessary packs, feel free to alter the challenge to suit the packs you have, or use the base game features. There are many ways to make money, including tasks like collecting valuable objects or careers.
You can play on any lifespan, but I suggest playing on epic or disabling aging altogether to get the most out of your Sims.
According to the original rules, you can use cheats, rewards, and anything else to make it easier, but keep in mind that the easier you make it for yourself, the less challenging it will be!

Hi! I am currently obsessed with your ts3 screenies and was wondering if you know of any good builders/lots for ts3 especially community lots? I literally cannot stand the tattoo shop/consignment store that comes with ambitions lmao... If not no worries I was just wondering ! <3
For community lots I actually don't know, my go-to builders, gelina and FHRA only really do residential lots.
When I'm in need of a community lot, usually I'll just grab them up from other worlds, even custom worlds, and adjust them to suit the world I currently playing in. Otherwise I would suggest checking a ccfinds blog, like this, if you'd rather do without all the extra work.

Heacock’s Department Store, Roaring Heights - community lot makeover #1
Formerly the Landgraab Sell n’ Swap Consignment Store.
This was a little project that I did the past few weeks, a lot makeover of the Landgraab Consignment Store. I converted it to a “department store,” adding many features from different DLCs, such as selling nectars, elixirs and clothing, a cafe, and a photo studio, where I can take pictures of my sims for my mood boards and portraits. The lot has now a total of 3 floors.
The name and design of the building was inspired by an old department store building in Escolta, Manila of the same name. For reference, you can go to the Manila Nostalgia blog post about the building.
The first floor has the window displays, shelves of goods and decor, toilets, and the consignment, nectar and elixir cash registers. The second floor has the clothing store, with mannequin and clothing displays, and fitting rooms.
Note: THIS IS NOT A DOWNLOAD... yet. If you’re interested, I can upload this to my Google Drive or The Sims 3 Exchange. I used A LOT of EPs, SPs, and Store stuff here, so I’m having second thoughts on uploading this online for download. Let me know what you think. Thank you!

some time around the mid 50s - the world ended.
except it didn’t.  Not really.  Because life goes on.  Thirty years later, life is still going on.  But the scars are there and no one’s recovering any time quickly.
Last Stop Gas and Go - at the end of the world, the road really does go on forever.  And if you drive it too long, you’ll never find your way back.  Last Stop Gas and Go is exactly what it says it is.  Your last chance before the horizon for food, for gas - and for human company.  Don’t waste it.
download Last Stop here
note: lot contains cc.  Please download responsibly.  List of cc sources can be found here.
note 2: I used some of CloudWalker Sims package files for the nostalgia effect.  Their site is down and unfortunately they seem to be long gone.  So download the cc here.

Snow Mountain Ville by Angela Ester
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's Wednesday, and it's a world overview, and for once this one isn't on the Exchange. Woo! But, it is an older world, uploaded in 2012, and it's a mountainous one. Mountain worlds will catch my attention even more than desert worlds will, so...yeah.
And this one's very pretty! Perpetually snow-capped mountains with more in the distance via a distant terrain (Sunset Valley's, I think), a big waterfall, lots of evergreen trees. Feels like home, to me. Just needs some aspens. (And, @echoweaver, it could be an excellent Warrior Cats world?)
It's a fairly big world, but I think it's still 1024x1024, and the playable area is pretty condensed, which IMO makes worlds easier to play. The world requires all EPs that existed at the time that it was uploaded, which is up to Pets. I don't think it requires anything from stuff packs or the Store, and there is no CC included or needed, as far as I can tell.
The world has many lots both community/rabbithole and residential. I'd say about 40% of the houses are fully furnished, and the rest are empty. (More about the residential lots after the cut.) The world has many duplicate rabbitholes (two hospitals, three science buildings, twi business buildings, a bunch of diners and bistros, etc.), but I suspect it's mostly for the look of the buildings rather than their function. For instance, the science rabbitholes look pretty industrial, and they're sitting in the part of the "downtown" that looks more industrial. With all those rabbitholes, it means there'll be plenty of job opportunities in the town, but if you use the Job Overhaul mod, it also means that the job your sim wants (or that you want them to have) might be drowned out by redundant offers from the redundant rabbitholes. So, you could delete some of the extras and replace them with something playable but with the right "look." Or, you could use the Transmogrifier to turn the extra rabbitholes into non-functional deco buildings. Whatever. My point is, they don't have to remain rabbitholes. LOL
The world has all of the available-at-the-time spawners except the WA fish ones, and they're well-distributed throughout the world.
The title of this post is a link to the world's upload on the creator's Blogspot blog. I'm not uploading a .world file this time because this world isn't on the Exchange, and the creator is active and creates lots and worlds/neighborhoods for TS2, TS3, and TS4. She is active on YouTube, but I wasn't able to find a Tumblr for her. So, I thought I'd advertise her on Tumblr, too. :)
If you download this world and find yourself liking it, I recommend taking a look at the creator's other downloads. There are four or five other worlds as nice as this one, as well as many lots in different sizes and styles that would fit into this world or others.
There's more specific info and many more pictures behind the cut.
First up, we'll do some overhead pics of the world in map view and Edit Town. Here are both views for most of the world:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can see the redundant rabbitholes in the map view pic, mostly in the "downtown" area in the upper right of the pictures. There are also two salons, two firehouses, and two consignment shops in the world, though only one of each is categorized as such. The others are categorized as art galleries, for some reason. Both of the firehouses are EA, as is one of the salons and one of the consignment shops. I don't know if there was a rationale behind the duplication, but if I were to play this world, I'd probably replace the EA salon and consignment shop and one of the firehouses with something else, probably lot types for the later EPs. There are also some other community lots that are missing proper categorization. For instance, there's a laundromat that's categorized as no visitors allowed. Again, I don't know if this was intentional or if something just got messed up in the packing process or when I converted the sims3pack to a .world file. Whatever the case, it's easily changed/fixed.
Here are map view and Edit Town pics of the rest of the world:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, these lots are mostly residential, and there are a number of empty lots as well. I like that the residential lots in this world are broken out into distinct sections. So, let's take a look at some of them.
First, there are some apartment lots in the "downtown" area. A couple of them are EA lots from Late Night, though they may have been edited (I didn't look), but the others are original and are furnished. Some pics:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, in the lower right of the pics of the main part of the map, you can see a block of 27 residential lots. These are all identical one-bedroom houses on 20x20 lots, and they are all identically partitioned inside but empty. They look like this on the outside:
Tumblr media
I don't personally have a use for 27 one-bedroom houses, so I would switch some of these out for other small bungalow houses I have that have more bedrooms, or build some new ones. But if you do have a use for 27 one-bedroom houses and are OK with the tract housing look, you can easily change exterior colors and add different plantings and stuff like that, so that they don't all look exactly the same, and then furnish up these little guys.
Speaking of little guys, another residential area is the small island connected to the downtown area by a bridge. It's in the top center of the overhead pics above. There are 8 small lots situated on a walk path on that island, and 3 of those lots have furnished houses on them. Again, they're little one-bedroom houses, but they're really cute, and they're spread out amongst the trees, some with mountain views and some with ocean views. Here are two of them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd use these as my starters, personally. Assuming I'm starting with single sims.
And here are some pics of some of the other residential lots in the more "suburban" residential areas of the world, where the step-up/wealthy lots are. Plus there's another such pic before the cut on this post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, I quite like the residential lots in this world. Some of them are EA lots, but I think they've been edited a bit because they aren't the impractical eyesores that EA lots tend to be. The yellow mansion aside, they're very much my style because I prefer more compact houses. They're just easier to play, IMO, because you don't lose your sims in them. That said, I do think there are too many one-bedroom lots in this world because I tend to think that most players want their sims to procreate, and small, one-bedroom houses aren't very conducive to that, at least not in the long term. But, as I said, this is easily remedied, if you agree with me.
Next, we'll have a quick look at some of the community lots, most of which are in the "downtown" area:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Respectively, those are:
A cat park next door to one of the firehouses
The non-EA consignment shop
The library (on the left side of the pic) and the non-EA salon
A little park next to the city hall. There are a number of similar little parks in the "downtown" area. Some of them have some playground equipment on them, some just have seating. You could easily add more stuff to them, if you wanted to. Plus there's a full-blown playground next to the block of 27 one-bedroom houses.
A nectary with a big community garden next door
A chapel set up for weddings. Directly behind is the graveyard with a mausoleum. They are separate lots, but with no space between them.
Annnnd we'll finish off with some random scenery of this very pretty world. :)

All the lots loaded of the garden center I created in the sims 3 town I built. It’s based off of a garden center in my town. The garden center in the world is broken up onto 5 lots, since we have open world in ts3.
There are all sorts of draws to these lots, including the harvest stand, a consignment register, tea sets, one of the lots has a place I added for sims to get married (I say added because the place I modeled this after would never hold weddings in real life), and there’s a lot with public plants.
The lot with the public fields is in the back left, while Sarah and Jenny’s house is behind the garden center to the right in this image. The home in the top front left is a residential lot for someone to live at the center of the garden center lots. Mermaid Kiona is living there right now since she loves nature and is eco-friendly, so she was sure to appreciate all the fresh plants and produce.

⚔️TROST UPDATE⚔️
Finally finished a chunk of Trost! It took awhile because I was trying to figure out how the buildings should look in ts3, making cc objects (like the decor arches, garrison roof decor, retaining walls), and figuring out a layout that felt natural. After multiple revisions, I was able to build the exteriors for a journalist/business building, consignment store, hospital, bar, and started the garrison regiment headquarters (still need to make cc for the top tower). I will make a more detailed post once I finish doing the interiors. Previously, I made stone corner objects for the buildings but I didn’t want to use too much cc so I’m just using a wallpaper from LN. Also, as you can see from the top view shot, this is a total of 5 large lots because that seemed more logical than having multiple small lots (hopefully this is more game friendly too). To put it into perspective, within these 5 lots, 1-2 buildings are accessible/functional and the rest within that lot are empty. These are all community lots, so I think I’m gonna work on residential/apartment lots next.Things will probably be moving more quickly because I have finalized a design style for the buildings which I made sure to look at reference photos from the anime and AOT game. Hopefully I will be more consistent with updates after my finals so I can make more progress on this big passion project of mine ❤️
If anyone has any suggestions for what kind of community lots I should add they would be greatly appreciated! I’m not sure what Trost citizens did for fun (life in Attack on Titan is rough), but I plan on adding a bunch of bars/taverns where they can drink their sorrows away and forget about titans lol.

I love The Sims.
Which is why I will never stop being disappointed in TS4.
Lets do some math, and I’m going to keep this mainly between TS3 & TS4. While I did play TS2, there isn’t a lot of information readily available on what the games themselves cost at the time of release. I have some information on that, but I’m not sure if it’s 100% accurate as I was baby when they came out and my mom had to buy them for me. I’ll release it later if anyone is curious.
TS3 launched with a base game priced at $49.99, and throughout it’s lifetime accrued nine stuff packs at $19.99 each, and eleven expansion packs priced at $39.99 a pop. This comes to a total of $669.79.
TS4 launched with a base game price of $59.99 (that price soon dropped to $49.99 because the backlash was immediate), and introduced the new game pack. In total (as of 4/15/2020), TS4 has sixteen stuff packs at $9.99 each, eight expansion packs at $39.99, and eight game packs at $19.99. That comes to a total of $699.67.
That’s not a huge price difference. All in all, it’s about $30 if you want to get the whole, complete collection, so why do I dislike TS4 so vehemently?
Quality.
Let’s compare a few expansion packs just to get a feel for what the difference is.
TS3 launched the “Late Night” expansion at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Bridgeport) with 82 lots
Fame & reputation systems
Bars & night clubs
Apartments with penthouse suites
Subways
Elevators
Breast & muscle sliders in CAS*
Zodiac signs
A fountain tool*
Height adjustment for wall objects
Groups & bands
Butlers
Vampires!
The mixology skill
2 new traits (shy & star quality)
TS4 launched the “Get Famous” expansion at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Del Sol Valley) with 11 lots
Fame & reputation systems
Active acting career
Multiple ways to become famous
Music, video station, etc.
And that’s about it.
Now I’ll be the first person to admit that TS3 wasn’t perfect. Although it was a very full game, it struggled in areas of performance. With such large, open worlds, and detailed customization systems, it was pretty buggy for a lot of people, but we’ll talk on that more later.
But what I want to focus on is the disparity between these two packs, as they’re supposed to be mirrors of one another. “Get Famous” is the TS4 version of “Late Night”, so where did all the stuff go?
Well, EA broke it into 3 packs.
To get the full experience of “Late Night” in TS4, or at least something similar, you would need to purchase, “Get Famous”, “City Living”, and “Vampires”. That’s 2 expansion packs, and 1 game pack. So, to replicate the experience of “Late Night” you would need to spend $99.97.
That’s almost $100.
So, for an experience we paid $39.99 previously in the last installment, we’re now being asked to pay $100 for.
Is that fair?
Lets do another expansion pack comparison:
TS3 launched “Ambitions” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Twinbrook) with 82 lots
5 new active jobs that take you all around the world your sims inhabit
Firefighter, investigator, ghost hunter, stylist, and architectural designer
Self-employment
Sculptors, inventors, painters, writers, gardeners, and so on can all profit from at home work
Laundry
Tattooing career
New traits (eco-friendly, good observer, weirdo, etc.)
Consignment stores
Inventing
Sculpting
TS4 launched “Get to Work” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Magnolia Promenade) with 4 lots
3 new active jobs that take place in one location
Detective, doctor, scientist
Baking & photography skills
Retail lots
Illnesses for sims
Aliens
There’s definitely more crossover here, but “Get to Work” still falls short. $39.99 for a full game and all we get is a world with 4 lots? Even in TS2 “Open for Business” we had more to do.
And, that isn’t to mention the fact that “Get to Work” launched separately from the TS4 “Laundry Day Stuff” pack. So, to get a similar experience to TS3′s “Ambitions” you would need to purchase both “Get to Work” and “Laundry Day Stuff” at a total of $49.98.
One more comparison for good measure.
TS3 launched “Island Paradise” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Isla Paradiso) with 118 lots, the most of ANY TS3 expansion
Houseboats that can move anywhere around the island
Resorts that you can either visit, or own, manage & edit
New transportation modes
Boating, skiing, and windsurfing
3 new careers
Lifeguard, resort manager, scuba diver
Diving into fully realized underwater scenes
Sims could also catch fish, explore underwater caves & find sunken treasure
Shark & kraken attacks
Mermaids!
Missions to discover and unlock new islands
Blueprint templates*
TS4 launched “Island Living” at $39.99, and it included:
A new world (Sulani) with 11 lots
Docks & new foundation types
4 new careers
Conservationist, diving, fishing, and lifeguard
Mermaids!
Boats
Missions to clean up the island
2 new traits
In the case of “Island Paradise” vs. “Island Living” there are a quite a few similarities, but the disparity remains. Thankfully, this time around EA didn’t break “Island Living” into multiple packs, but imagine if in a few months we get a resort style pack? Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past EA.
In these pack comparisons, I hope I’ve highlighted some of the issues between what should have been pretty similar packs.
And, to clarify, I’m not saying that EA should have just copy pasted TS3 packs into the TS4 style, but for the amount of money they’re asking, the quality should remain the same. There should be a similar amount of features between each pack, but there isn’t.
With each expansion, it feels like EA is spending less and less time working on the unique gameplay features, and pouring more time into the general aesthetics of the packs. So, while TS4 is the prettiest of all The Sims titles, it’s also the emptiest.
Despite the shiny veneer of a good game with solid graphics, TS4 ultimately lacks depth. It doesn’t feel like a game, but rather a character creator. I spend more time building sims and their homes than I do actually playing out their lives.
All in all, I find that the “life simulation” part of TS4 is severely lacking. It mostly comes down to the little things, which is exemplified whenever I go back and replay TS2. Sims would cuddle their partner in their sleep, burglars were a real and present danger, raccoons would topple your trash can at any given chance, and friends would call all the time to ask if you wanted to go downtown.
It’s been 6 years since TS4 came out, and, from what the dev’s have said, they aren’t planning on pushing out TS5 anytime soon, but let’s dream a little bit about what could be.
In my perfect game, TS5 would include aspects of TS3 and TS2. The open worlds were great, but not many people’s computers were beefy enough to run them. The one thing I will applaud about TS4, is that its made with everyone in mind. We can’t all afford big, gaming computers, a lot of simmers play on their laptops, and we should all be able to play regardless of what type of machine we’re working with.
So, instead of fully open works with 90+ lots, I would like to see open neighborhoods. If we take the open concept of TS3, and combine it with the neighborhood style of TS4, we’d get an open world of about 15-20 lots. That’s nowhere near as big as TS3, but would allow for more fun neighbor interactions, and remove the constant load screens.
I’d also like to see a return of the color wheel. This is also a point of contention, where I understand that excessive customization really dragged down TS3 and made it unplayable for a lot of people. So instead of full customization, relegate it to just colors (instead of different materials like fabric, metal, wood, etc.,) and just CAS.
I think a lot of what gummed up TS4 was the fact that you could customize everything. Hair color, eye color, makeup, clothes, accessories, wallpaper, paint, tiles, flooring, chairs, sofas, decorations, and on and on. Restricting it just to CAS, and in a simple color wheel would give us so much more freedom.
A color wheel in CAS would also solve EA’s issue of diversity. While they’ve given us the ability to create trans and nonbinary sims (which is fantastic!), they’ve been really slow on any progress when it comes to skin tones. A color wheel would allow us to create sims of all colors, and give power to the players to create more realistic and diverse representations of their lives as sims.
The last thing I would really love to see is a return to the little details. Give us more randomness. Genies, walking skeletons, ruins we can explore that aren’t just rabbit holes, more active careers, more opportunities. Don’t be afraid to give us the weird things, we love the weird things! But don’t forget about the little things. Sims sitting in the grass together and chatting, sims leaving flowers at your door after a really great date, sims scooting together to cuddle while watching a movie together on the couch.
Overall, TS5 should just include more more, if that makes sense.
Leave your comments & thoughts below! I’d love to talk to ya’ll about this, its really been brewing for awhile.
*Features included in TS4 base game.

The more I look at Newcrest, the more I’m tempted to build it with only community lots. We just have no space in the other worlds and it gives off Downtown area/ Main Street vibes. I also don’t want to have a sim build a skill every time they want to experience something, so I’d rather they visit a soda shop or a florist like we would.
Also, I’m really interested in seeing how in depth this Plopsy feature is. I think it’ll be a good way to get rid of objects in your inventory that build up over time from skill-building and act as a modern version of consignment like in ts3.

Heacock’s Department Store, Roaring Heights - community lot makeover #2
Formerly the Landgraab Sell n’ Swap Consignment Store.
This was a little project that I did the past few weeks, a lot makeover of the Landgraab Consignment Store. I converted it to a “department store,” adding many features from different DLCs, such as selling nectars, elixirs and clothing, a cafe, and a photo studio, where I can take pictures of my sims for my mood boards and portraits. The build has now a total of 3 floors.
The name and design of the building was inspired by an old department store building in Escolta, Manila of the same name. For reference, you can go to the Manila Nostalgia blog post about the building.
The third floor has a cafe, artists’ workshop, and a photo studio, a space where I can now take my Sims’ portraits properly. :D
Thank you!
