Things my dad’s and my major fandoms (Discworld and the band Jethro Tull, respectively) have in common:
English
Dry sense of humor
Genre Crossing
Huge canons spanning decades
Social/current and historical events commentary
Whimsical, sometimes surreal elements
Trans people
Works that get meta about life being stories
Involvement with folk rock group Steeleye Span
An installment called Raising Steam

Saw Jethro Tull live today (for the second time in my life). They were good, as was to be expected, though Ian Anderson's voice was not in top form. His flute playing was though, which is the more important bit.
But why are there always annoying people talking over the music when I go to a Jethro Tull concert? Last time it was a young guy who looked like Harry Potter who tried to appear as if he knew a lot about the band, this time it was a bunch of guys sitting behind us who just had to chat over the music. Why do you even come to a concert if you're not going to listen to it?

I wanna do an acoustic cover of still you turn me on at open mic sometime because I've got that specific version of it down now and it sounds really cool but I'm worried it might just be too much for the old men who are obsessed with me to handle
