The adult!gaang would still have a little fun with it. Like, I can see Sokka or Toph asking if Zuko knows anything about the Blue Spirit or Pohuai Stronghold, or if he's ever seen a turtleseal up close, just to see him freeze or squawk.

Early Book 3 gaang accidentally pisses off a powerful spirit who retaliates by throwing them at the feet of the Fire Lord - just not the current Fire Lord. Maybe another spirit intervenes to save them. Maybe the spirit is just bad at using their immense power and overshot it. Maybe the spirit just thought it'd be funny. Either way, the gaang come face to face with Fire Lord Zuko sitting in his own bedroom, almost 30 years and still dressed in his sleep robes.

Safe to say it doesn't go well.

Katara freezes Zuko to his bedroom wall and they high tail it out of the Fire Palace. No one tries to fight them. The guards stationed at the palace walls see them coming and open the gates for them?? Sokka swears one of them wished him a good morning as they ran by?? And greeted him by name????

It takes them a while to figure out what's going on, and then even longer before they actually believe it. The townsfolk are happy and thriving in a way Aang remembers from before Sozin's reign. There's no whispers of war. No double-takes at their brightly coloured clothing. No guards chasing them down. And everywhere, on every street corner, they talk about Zuko.

Zuko eventually tracks them down, alone and unarmed. He's so different to the angry 16yo they remember. Older, and calmer, and kinder. And when the gaang refuses to return to the Fire Palace (because there's NO WAY they're going to fall for that trap, nuh uh, no way), Zuko decides to come with them. They try to argue- until he pulls out his heavy coin purse and offers to bank-roll their journey.

And that's how the teenage gaang ends up on roadtrip with the future Fire Lord.

The gaang are VERY distrustful and angry and occasionally aggressive. They're traumatised kids displayed over a decade in time (for Aang, it's the SECOND time he's been displayed in time, and it's bringing up a lot of trauma he never got a chance to deal with). Zuko draws on everything he's learnt from Uncle. He's patient and doesn't push. He lets them rage and doesn't raise to the bait when they throw Ozai or Azula in his face. And eventually, they come to open up and trust him - first Aang and Toph, then eventually Sokka and Katara. The gaang get to journey with an adult they can actually trust, who doesn't patronise them or expect them to be soldiers. Someone reliable.

Internally, Zuko is extremely freaked out by the baby versions of his friends, but he's doing his best not to let that show. He always knew they were too young for war, but having to stare at their little faces every day? God.

Also: Please picture the reactions of everyone else who encounters this ragtag group as they search for answers on how to send the baby!gaang home. Are those extremely stressed out kids okay?? Why is one of them cosplaying the Avatar? ........Is that the Fire Lord sitting with them????

Sokka muses about Zuko’s affinity for turtle hybrids when he finds out about the way that Zuko gets into the city was taking the turtleseal tunnels.

None of them get jealous when they see this. I don’t know what you are talking about. Aang doesn’t jump between them (or snipe with the turtleseal out of Zuko’s line of sight, the turtleseal definitely knows what he’s doing). Katara doesn’t ‘accidentally’ ice over a hole that lets the turtleseal get to Zuko. And Sokka definitely is just going on a turtleseal hunt because he needs to hunt.

(Zuko also definitely doesn’t sabotage the hunt. Melt the frozen ice for the hole that he thinks was frozen because it’s too cold at the North Pole. Or give the turtleseal a good scritch on the head when Aang’s back is turned.)

Firelord Zuko’s chapter in the history books would basically be just a list of all of the buckwild and illegal shit he got away with.

So, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles s1 is almost done.

Well, I guess It's time to talk my experience watching the various adventures of ninja turtles...

I've been fan of TMNT since 2003, back then I used to watch that years incarnation of turtles. I fcking loved it, show was just so good, action was fantastic and tense, tone was perfectly Balancen between dark and funny, music was just perfect (DATTHEMESONGTHO!), and characters were great too, especially turtles themselfs.

TMNT 2003 had some most memorable episodes too, like for example that ep where Leo gets badly wounded by Shredder's Foot soldiers and forcing the whole turtle gang escape from NY and going to hiding at Casey Jones farm house. Or that where Donnie gets himself transported to future and.... well, we all know what happend, right?

...And yeah, two last seasons of tmnt 2003 were, just uterly bad. And we don't talk about them. EVER.

I also got into TMNT by reading various comic books.

I got to watch those 90s era tmnt cartoons too, and never liked them. Don't ask why.

I enjoyd the two live-action tmnt movies too, those "Bayturtles" movies were wild.

Tmnt 2012 show was least of my fave show, I guess the whole 3D cgi animated style didn't get my brain to be exited about the show. Characters were pretty much the same classic tmnt characters, Leo as leader, Raph as hot head and so on. I just didn't understand the whole April having psychic powers thing. But, that show gave me laughs and I over all enjoyed it.

So, what comes to the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show....

I hated it first time.

I still remember when folks saw the first pics of turtleses new look, everyone just went totally mad. Someones were so mad that they wanted it to be cancelled.

I had mixed feels while watching the first ep, I thought that, it was okay, but maybe too funny. And the whole turtleses having different personalities, in fact they didn't had no personality, except Donnie who was the same nerd, this time more SAVAGE. I think Raph being leader now made me question choices that creators and writers of the show had done.

But what I REALLY liked, was the animation, holy shiet it's so good. Especially action scenes were perfectly animated, it was just so "flowy" and smooth. There was clearly lot of influenses taken from anime side.

After I've watched couple more episodes of rottmnt, I started to like it even more. Show just followed turtle teens running around the NY and doing some crazy stuff. I think the world builging was handeled pretty well, the whole mystical side of tmnt. But if one thing buged me was the short time that episodes had (not counting specials), 10 minutes isn't enough for good episode, when I had fun with it, it's already over. I hope that episodes get some more running time at the next season.

I think over all TMNT as a show has gone far for a good, started as a joke comic to one of the most succesful shows ever done in a children cartoons aside of Transformers and MLP.

Rottmnt proves that you can change the show and try something new, while angering it's fans but also pleasing them for that trying different things than going with the same old plan that won't work over and over again.
