MY FIFTH WULF INTERPRETATION
Tumblr media
so, i've decided, before anything else (before i do all the ideas i wanted to do), i want to give a lot of the little Shipwrecked/Broadside Beach characters i've drawn some tweaking in my artstyle. and Wulf was first up! I made him a bit shorter and more stout than usual because it just fits better i believe

Can you draw more plus-sized Summer Rose? Do you have other body diversity headcanons in RWBY, such as Qrow with a beer belly?
Hellooo lovely anon!
god, when i saw this ask i went absolutely ballistic. No words can explain just how much I adore my hcs of Summer Rose, she's my favorite RWBY character because the little details i added to her character as hcs just kind of made it for me, even if she has next to no screentime in the main series.
Personally, in my aus, i have tweaked and changed a LOT of the main cast so it'd have more representation. I couldn't draw all of them sadly, but here goes the little list:
Body diversity HCS ->
1. Blake Belladona is poc! This is the more obvious one but I decided to make her a dark-skinned woman as a general hcs in everything I do. You could also go further and say that her hair texture is different, and that she just straightens it.
2. Yang Xiao Long has a muscular build! (No shit sherlock) but yeah, she's buff! Give the girl her muscles! I also made her anatomy a little bit less off and she probably has a little belly too, because I can't really accept that she's so thin while her breasts are completely disproportionate to her body. She's also tanned!
3. This isn't exactly my HCS, because I haven't specifically added them to any AU, but I really like @peixedobar's take that Weiss Schnee has albinism.
4. Ruby Rose is also a bit stronger physically! She isn't as buff as Yang or Raven, because these two are absolute units, but she also isn't as thin as she is in cannon.
This is also more prominent for my Zombie!AU because Ruby lends Crescent Rose to Oscar for a good part of the plot, and after that she just... fucking punches everyone to oblivion. (I know it's a bit OOC but in-universe it makes sense)
5. Lie Ren is blasian! I don't really know where I got this from, but while thinking to myself about what I could do to make my Zombie Au more inclusive, the thought just crossed my mind. His hair is also textured, he has braids.
6. Raven Branwen is fucking jacked. Seriously she's probably the most well-built character I can think of in my AUs. She isn't like a massive war tank(or similar to League of Legends Illaoi for example) but she is very in-shape and has very well-defined muscles along with a body adorned by scars. Aside from that, she's also part asian, part... Brazillian? More elaboration on that on Qrow's part lmfao.
7. Qrow Brawen with a fucking beer belly LETS GOOOOOOOO!!
Anon, when you suggested that, i went insane. It had never crossed my mind, because I often drew Qrow with a very muscular build, mostly out of anatomy studies — But gosh, I adored this hc in so many ways i'll probably add it EVERYWHERE. QROW WITH A BEER BELLY SHALL BE MY MARK ON THIS PLANET.
Aside from that, I also made his face more detailed. Usually it was difficult for me to draw him because he lacked a lot of facial details that often make irl people more unique, and I believe that's due to RWBY's artstyle. On mines, however, he has beauty marks below his right eyebrow and one above the right side of his lips. Scars all over, too.
He has a Japanese descent(Assuming that The Branwen Tribe is from Anima + Raven's choice of wear cannonically) and asiatic features on his eyes, but him and Raven also have heavy latin-american characteristics. They're Brazillian in my aus, mostly out of a inside joke(I too am Brazillian) and the fact that Qrow gives me a lot of latino vibes(Contrary to popular fandom belief, his hips do not lie !!!!), but after a while I started noticing that It actually wouldn't be too far-fetched to believe this, because if you look back at the history and relationship between Brazil and Japan, you'd find that these two countries actually have a LOT of story together!
Brazil homes a bunch of different cultures and ethnicities in it's lands, it's a country with a lot of diversity so in my opinion it wouldn't be too otherworldly to make The Branwen Twins brazillian in my aus :p
That's it for body hcs! I'll probably have more in the near future, but for now these are the ones I can remember.
Other diversity Hcs ->
1. Autistic Penny, Ruby, Summer Rose(this wasn't on purpose, it just happened as I was writting her LMFAO), Neopolitan
2. Transfem Nora, He/They Lie Ren
3. ADHD Jaune, Qrow Branwen
4. This is specific to a AU I have, it isn't present in my other works, but in La Vie En Rose(Royal Au) Neopolitan eventually has a leg injury during a major plotpoint that leaves her disabled, so her Parasol is also used as a cane of sorts since she can't be as agile and flexible anymore. She's still slaying though, always.
5. Summer Rose is blind of one eye!
I'm quite sure I forgot a few, and with time I'll update you on everything, but for now these are the ones! Thanks for asking, Anon!
And just as you asked for~ A lovely Summer Rose on a Beach day for ya!

What changes have you made to the Motley Crew’s design since first drawing them? Hair shape/volume, shading, body shape, scars/birthmarks, etc etc
Is there anything you’re currently debating on changing to the their looks?
they are constantly evolving. Adam's hair has gotten wavier, his scares have gotten more prominent on his body Edward's sideburns got bigger, I draw him a little more "Jekyll" like in his facial features. Erik probably changed the most, I made him significantly balder and scruffier. Some changes are just due to my artstyle improving but I find myself tweaking characters pretty often.

Wanted to try redesigning one of my old fakemon as a lil way of seeing how much i've improved, so I figured I'd use it as an excuse to go back and tweak the designs for Servumian Maractus and Maracabre a little! These were some of the first pokemon designed for the Servume region, before Cherie and I even decided to make a region together, so I'm really happy to see them all up to date with my recent pokemon artstyle :)

I always start laughing when Tiffany calls Caroline a 'creepy little girl' so, I drew Caroline as a pretty underrated creepy girl. Samara Morgan! The Ring has always been a horror fave of mine since I was a kid. Also yeah, I'm still tweaking this new artstyle. But practice makes perfect or so I've heard !!
((I've tried to add the refs I used under a cut like 3 times but It messes up my post each time so no refs sorry, but they're just pics of samara))

yooo! i'm soo happy you're back! your artstyle is so delicious and severed and splintered has been living rent free in my head ever since it finished, i can't wait to see what you do next!
Tumblr media
thank you both so much!!
i’ve been trying very hard this month to truly hone in my style and figure out what palette/paneling/backgrounds/etc i want to do for the remake of s&s as i have many ideas but the execution of just one is daunting lmao
(again, if you wanna see my progress moving forward- you can support me on kofi or patreon to see that i promise this will be the last time i mention it haha)
the writing side of it will remain mostly the entire same, with some minor changes. those changes won’t affect the story as a whole but better pacing in some areas and little tweaks to the specifics of events (specifically for Gaspard, the blu spy) as i had a lot of time these last few years thinking on the exacts of the technology in his situation.
ik using logic in a silly tf2 comic whaaat???
it’s why moving forward you all already haven’t seen and will continue to not see gaspard with his white hair anymore. yes, that was a crucial part of his story that had to be altered for the sake of my brain understanding ludwig’s technology. i promise it will all make sense when the comic is done, but hopefully these changes will also make the remake more engaging for those already more than familiar with it (:
for my last note, i do intend to post any and all comics here and on my instagram as per usual, but if there is another place you wish to see me posting on- or specifically posting the comic on as ik these sites really destroy any and all resolution- please feel free to let me know !

if you didn't notice from the ask blogs pinned post, I've changed my artstyle! the other one was very limiting and I was relying on the mirror tool way too much 😅 I really like this one I've been doing! also I found a new brush that I love.. airbrush particle <3
the designs have been tweaked a little as well! I'm gonna do Donnie, Lea and Venus soon. after I finish all these then I'm gonna (finally) get the comic done so hopefully the ask blog starts getting asks! :3

I like several things about your art & lore so a simple note doesn't do it justice i feel, i just hope tumblr formates it somewhat okay via ask lol. 1. How absolute soft and round you draw, you hardly see any edges or hard corners and i am at this point fully convinced you do this on purpose, even when it comes to Vyrm's sidespikes or any claws.
2. Being able to make all characters easy to recognize yet give each your spin, even if one were to fully color any character in your art black, you can still say whats going on and who is who. 3. Expand on "blank slates", while we got all these Lore tablets by PK, we hardly know him as official, public text written as the King do not tell how he was in Person, and I for myself have adopted a few things as my HC on how your Vyrm acts in that regard, even more with his relationship with WL. Same goes for Grimm, the aspect of an eternal, ageless god seeking a quiet life after tasting all the world had to offer is very, very nice.
4. Not restricting yourself to what the game shows us, that might be just Take 2. but i feel like this should be mentioned as well, you dont just say "everyone is a bug" you go with reptiles, mammals, bugs, birds, literally everything imagineable to fit your vision of characters, especially your design of Lurien shows that being both bug & bird inspired. 5. Also Dinosaurs. Your Baryonix picture is still one of my faves, not just because Baryonix have become one of my fave dinos thanks to ARK: Survival Evolved but in general, still close to one of the more accurate renders we have while also adding your own charm, love the light blue "crest" (not sure how to call it) you added on the head especially, not just stylish but a possible feature to attract mates. You make dinosaurs look soft but not forget they were dangerous beasts.
Oh gosh this is a long one, I really appreciate this! I'll try responding to each one.
1. It is on purpose, yes! Funnily enough, it's a complete contrast to my old artstyle from over a year ago. Using Vyrm's side spikes as an example, they used to be almost perfect sharp triangles. These days I try to make the shapes in my art very round and soft, so I'm really glad this is something you like!
2. Thank you, I'm glad you think so! It's something I've been a little conflicted about sometimes. On one hand, I worry that I changed them so much they might not register as the characters they're based on. On the other, I want to draw them like this, that personal touch helps me connect to them on a much closer level, and considering Grimm and Vyrm in particular are my comfort characters, I'm trying to get rid of that doubt so I can fully embrace it. Hearing that they're still recognizable really does help!
3. Ahh I'm so happy to hear you adapted some of my interpretations into your own headcanons! It's really flattering to know that my silly rambles might have impacted how others view the original counterparts/their own interpretations.
4. Thank you! I'd just be repeating what I said in the second one, but again, it's very reassuring that people are open to my interpretations!
5. Ooooh I didn't expect this one hahaha. I'm glad you liked it! Redesigning the Jurassic World Baryonyx used to be one of my favorite things, I'm not the biggest fan of the movie design and I always found it fun to tweak it in subtle (and less subtle) ways to make it work better as the animal it's supposed to represent. And yes, I believe crest is the correct term here, it's something the movie design didn't include but I think it gives Baryonyx a lot of personality.
Again, thank you so much for your kind words!

Finally got a new ref made of this guy! Yaaay!
For those who haven't already seen him, this is Specs, my personalized version of Peter Parker. He's in his mid-twenties, has been Spider-Man for over a decade at this point, is married to Mary Jane Watson, and carries a lot of anger and trauma that he fights against almost as much as he fights supervillains. In his civilian life he's an investigative photojournalist, using his camera and his job at the Daily Bugle as a tool against crime and corruption--doing his best to make the world a little better in the long term.
Commissioned from the ever-brilliant @sirwolficus. A black and white version, as well as some design notes, are under the cut.
Tumblr media
Specs genuinely needs those glasses. The spider bite didn't fix his eyesight, and in fact probably made it a little worse. When in costume he wears contact lenses, but he insists on wearing glasses in civilian life because that provides a little more separation between his identities.
The spider bite also didn't have the benefit of making him naturally buff. Instead, Specs' build developed gradually over his years of acrobatics and combat; his thighs have significantly more muscle mass than anywhere else, because he spends most of his time either running, jumping, or crouching. Most of the rest of his body places more emphasis on lean muscle definition; there's a lot more agility than brute force here.
The universe this Peter Parker lives in, Earth-61610, has an artstyle that refuses to hide the stitching and seams on a superhero costume. That's why they feature rather prominently on this reference. Over the years Specs has tried to tweak the costume's patterning so that the seam lines contribute to the aesthetic rather than interrupting it.
Specs' web-shooters are strapped onto his wrists under his gloves, which have large holes to allow the shooters themselves to be visible and operate without getting snagged on fabric. There's a very slight, but still visible, bulge beneath his gloves where the watch straps sit.
The black fingers and palms of Specs' gloves are made of a different material to most of the costume's black portions; it's much thinner and rather loose-knit, because Specs' adhesive ability doesn't work very well through typical cloth. The soles of his boots are split into sections that're each lined with the same material, so Specs' feet can stick to walls without too much obstruction.
The eye lenses of his mask are a polarized polycarbonate material; they're not white, they're just very shiny. And they don't move or emote like most Spider-Man masks seem to; instead, Earth-61610's Spider-Man wears a permanent half-glare.
Specs draws the web-pattern onto his costume by hand; he's been doing that for so long that he doesn't particularly care about making it look "right" anymore. In a way that's almost a benefit to the suit's aesthetic, because his carelessness gives the pattern a subtly messy, asymmetrical look, a lot like an actual spiderweb. It also means that artists are fully allowed to just bullshit the pattern and draw lines going vaguely the right direction, because that's exactly what he's doing in-universe.
Those red patches on his thighs are pockets.

HOW DO YOU MIMIC ARTSTYLES SO WELL???
I honestly don't know? I just sit myself down and stare at official art and keep tweaking my drawing until they look similar. Helps with picking up on the little quirks of every style tho.

canon questionare. // accepting!! 2 - How did you get into this franchise/fandom?
[[ Through the first season of the anime ! I always look for new seasonal stuff when it comes out, and KNY sparked my interest right from the start. I love shounen series, the artstyle looked amazing, and my attention was immediately drawn to "that dude wearing the boar head" in the opening xD ]]
5 - What’s the best thing about the fandom?
[[ It's fairly active because KNY is a popular series, and we get new official art/content super often thanks to that popularity. Coming from a dead fandom that got little to nothing in over 15 years, it's a big and welcomed change :') ]]
6 - What’s the worst thing about the fandom?
[[ The tags are filled with n/sfw writing stuff and I simply do not wanna see that lmao. Shipping is overbearing as in most fandoms, but again that's just a matter of personal preference ^^' god forbid people care for platonic found family stuff /j ]]
9 - Have you tweaked the character from canon? If so, what did you tweak?
[[ Not really! My goal is always to be as faithful to canon as I can, so I haven't changed anything big about him. I've mostly added on what canon hinted to, especially with how Inosuke view himself.
He never outright states that he thinks he's a boar, but the way he talks (and mostly how he addresses "humans" without including himself in the lot) would make you think so, and I tend to have him be al ittle more literal about it. ]]
12 - What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?
[[ Probably what I've said right above :') he's got a bit of a Tarzan syndrome and he doesn't quite consider himself human. It's mostly just a twist of his ego (he considers himself to be better than humans), but it's also a fundamental part of his character. He doesn't wear that boar hide for show.
He's a really good take on the "feral child" trope, and I really really love that all his abrasive and brash attitude hides a very sweet and soft kid underneath. His character development throughout the series is very well executed, and the margin he has for improvement is probably what felt most unique to me, when other characters (notably Tanjiro) start off with defining qualities that don't need to evolve as much. ]]

Love your coloring and art style 💖 can I ask you a question how you get better at drawing? I'm new (year 2) and struggling with digital art off and on. It's only been two years I'm drawing digitally but I just want to draw better. Like even better. If you have advice or tips, that's awesome. Hopefully it doesn't come off the wrong way. But thanks in advance.
not me forgetting that I had asks on 😭 if you're still interested, here's the (extremely) late response (again, super sorry 😭)
In terms of coloring, there isn't a lot I can say (being a learner as well), but I think seeing how others color can be really interesting! Do they use reddish hues or blueish hues for shades? Or do they use both? I personally use a slightly desaturated salmon pink-ish color with a low opacity (also desaturated) sky-blue. It can help to try out a variety and finding what works for you!
example: (this is an old piece of mine and I used red and blue as my tools for shading)
Tumblr media
The same can be said for base colors. For those, I recommend color-studies and seeing how relative colors can influence how you perceive the entire piece. Rather than focus on the colors as separate entities (blue as blue, yellow as yellow), it's really helpful to instead look at it instead as something meant to intermingle with (if that makes any sense 🥲).
In a blue-prevalent piece, straight-up grey might look reddish or even pink. In a purple piece, the skin-tone might look like light-magenta than a peachy color. Yet, when you look at the piece as a whole, it definitely looks like a skin-tone.
example: you can tell that the skin looks like a skin tone, but when you actually pull it out and look at it in comparison to a peachy tone, it's purple! And this is because of the idea of relative colors. Against a white background, a color might seem saturated and dark, but against a dark background, the same color might seem super light.
Tumblr media
For lineart (if you do them at all), it might help to experiment with brushes and thickness of lines! Do you prefer boxy lines? Smooth lines? Thick or thin lines? It might seem redundant, but you'll eventually find yourself a style that fits you the best, even if it doesn't seem that way ^^
Another tip I have is that if you have a bunch of artists you really like (whether that be their composition, style, coloring, etc), examine what exactly you like about them and try to imitate it and see how well it works for you! If it doesn't, then that's fine, but if it does, then thats even better!
If you have artist mutuals, do the 'friends' artstyle challenge'! You might learn something interesting that might take your fancy and at the worst, you'll just have more experience under your belt when it comes to style :D
Though it may seem like everyone's saying this and it feels of little use, studies (whether that be pose or coloring) will help a lot! Also, try tracing over those free dynamic pose photos if you want to improve in the aspect of anatomy! Try see where limbs are placed and how they work. It's sort of like seeing the answers to a math question: once you know the answer, you can work backwards to see how to get it :D
Sorry for the delay and super sorry if this isn't of any help at all 😭 Honestly, I don't really know how to do the stuff I do at all, either. Half of the time, I'm just winging it and tweaking stuff until it looks decent, but I hope this helped!
(Also, really really sorry for not replying 😭)
