Touching up on my danganronpa knowledge when I came across the scene in chapter 5 where the group realizes none of them have seen Nagito in a while, and in an act that shorta surprised me, Fuyuhiko is the one who speaks up saying he tried to check on Nagito but hasn’t seen him. I could’ve seen that coming from Chiaki, Hajime, or even Sonia but the game pointing out Fuyuhiko was the one who wanted to see what was going on stuck with me

the anglerfish that we all know and love is actually just the female! the males are much much smaller. here is an example:

these little guys cant really hunt very well on their own, and it is very difficult to find other members of your species when its so dark, so when they find a female to mate with they attach themselves to her! they hook themselves into her bloodstream so she feeds them directly, and they essentially become an extra organ for her, fertilising her eggs when she lays them. her skin even grows over them!

the pit viper is a snake that has pits in its face that allow it to sense infrared radiation, aka heat. this basically gives it night vision! it can 'see' its warmblooded prey even through dense vegetation! and they're very pretty too:

lemon shark pups grow up in lakes in mangrove forests, swimming through the roots of the trees when the tide is high. the adults are too big to fit through the gaps, so its much safer for them since the adults sometimes eat the babies! they have to be careful to leave again before they get too big though, or they can get trapped there and starve to death :(

im not sure if its the religiosity of kneeling as a way to give penance for an act but also kneeling as a way of submission and giving thanks, especially in certain branches of christianity.

i think when he’d finally meet his sweetheart, and they’d want to take care of him, i think he’d like to kneel.

kneeling between their legs, or at their feet, head down, hands folded gently in his lap. i think there, in a kneeling position, would be such a sweet, healing spot for a boy that would do anything to be good.

i think for him i like to imagine the religiosity is not lost. its very much part of it for him. i like to imagine the submission is too. i think there’s penance and love and offering and freedom in it for him. to give himself over like that. to submit but with his heart, in a way that feels good, in a way that says i love you, says please, says hold me and use me and let me be as i am for you. its beautiful. 

so i think with his sweetheart he would love to kneel.

but i think as well, for him, it’s about choice. it’s his choice to kneel, wanting to submit. it’s his offering of grace and devotion. the choice he made, to be with and to love his sweetheart, it’s his and his alone. i think that makes it awe-inspiring for him. that makes his heart open and all the needs he’s ever kept inside spill out, let’s him ask to be good. he’ll do anything and knows his love will let him, will take care of him, will give him the rules to be good and stick to them, never expecting anything more and gator never wanting to give anything but his best.

wants permission to lay his head on his loves thigh, fingers over his hair and face again, feel their soft skin against his cheek, smell their skin and their body and get to think about nothing at all.

So saw a post about Shadowheart's racism towards Githyanki and hating her for that. Saying it's gross etc. I thought it was pretty mild? Considering what the Githyanki are and what they do, I was expecting a lot more racism when you play as one or towards Lae'zel. They aren't nice.

I had a long, long, long diatribe about this, but I wound up editing it to hell and back. I agree with you anon. I think it goes to show you how desperate the camp crew was when they put up with Lae'zel after the mountain pass crèche turns out to be a dud.

Anyways.

If people are singling out Shadowheart for being aggressive towards the literal imperialist slaver race of turbo space fascists and calling that racism, I don't know nor do I care to know about it. Not showing the githzerai has, I think, kinda rotted some BG3-only people's brains since they don't see that it's not about the gith as a species but it's about their imperial culture. It's especially annoying when there are much more direct parallels to racism in-game, structural and otherwise (Astarion with the Gur, Lae'zel with the tieflings, Rivington/Emerald Grove with the refugees).

I get the folks that feel the Shadowheart v. githyanki thing as racism, so I won't speak to their feelings. I will say that it's very definitely more a specific case of "girl stole shit from an empire known for murdering wantonly and is trying to avoid interacting with them at all costs" at the very beginning of the game.

Personally, I'm much more interested in talking about the fandom's general treatment of the slightly corrupted prince charming character (normally a fandom favorite in RPGs) as a second-class citizen. He's "useless" and "not that interesting" this time, for some reason?

yeah that is in fact a things that I have ,, ,

he's my beloved baby boy and I love him dearly <33 personally, I think we as a fandom kinda favor norm and scary since their issues seem to be more visible and they're kinda the big focus rn so to speak , so sure people enjoy linc and Taylor , they don't often *think* about them as often as people might about scary or normal . I think Taylor (much like Glenn) is a character who represses a *lot* , in Taylor's case however , it's a lot less conscious of a decision . I think Glenn realizes when something bad and big emotionally is creeping up on him and consciously decides to not think about it . whereas Taylor experiences something that *should* cause a big bad emotion but he kinda subconsciously sees it as something that's not as big a deal as it actually is . he sees everything as though he's the protagonist in an anime , so obviously nothing bad can *actually* happen to him because he's the good guy obviously . and so then he kinda convinces himself that it'll all be okay because he's on a fun anime adventure and so he must get a happy ending , right ? so he doesn't need to worry about anything *that* bad happening . see but then there's times where that breaks . I think when something really bad actually happens and doesn't immediately resolve itself that's when he starts to break down . like I think to him , the big bad things happen and then the character grows from it and it's fine ! so when something bad happens to him and either it doesn't immediately become better or he himself doesn't immediately become better from it and he still finds himself upset about it , he has a break down . and it's a big one . because he's not used to actually feeling any kind of big negative emotion , so when he experiences even a little bit it completely overwhelms him , since he represses so much , so when something does break through to him so does every other bit of upset that he's repressed .

unlike a string instrument which, if properly cared for, can remain in a good and playable condition for hundreds of years, there are very few surviving oboes from the 17th and 18th centuries and they are seldom if ever played today. whereas there are still stradivarius violins from the early 18th century that are still played today (and extremely highly prized). there are comparably few oboes from the same period that still exist, and the ones that do are in worse condition; they're basically just museum pieces now. there are a few overlapping reasons for this. for one thing, the construction of wind instruments has changed greatly over the centuries, while string instruments remain largely very similar to their 17th century counterparts (the bows generally changed more). not only were more keys added every century to the oboe, but the type of wood used in instrument construction did as well. modern oboes are almost always made out of a dense, hard, dark wood, most commonly grenadilla but cocobolo and rosewood are also seen. baroque oboes were usually made of boxwood, which is like a sandy tan color, and much lighter, softer, and less dense. in addition, even oboes being meticulously cared for won't last forever if they're actually being played regularly. you're blowing hot, moist air through a wooden tube for hours at a time, and you're swabbing it out with a cloth every time you put it away. over time that slowly wears away at the material inside the bore and deforms it. careful maintenance can prolong an instrument's life, but unless it's lined with plastic it's basically inevitable. of course, no plastic back in the 18th century, so if a player had a good instrument back then, they played it until it quite literally fell apart. surviving instruments today? those are probably flawed or mediocre quality in some way. otherwise they would have been played until deterioration. (it was surely expedited back then compared to now based on the softer wood used in construction, too.) so modern day instrument makers trying to craft a period instrument have an interesting problem on their hands. virtually every player today who plays a baroque oboe is playing a modern copy of one of those existing museum pieces, though the instrument maker also has to rely on their intuition/experience and written/artistic records from the period in order to craft an instrument that balances both authenticity and actual playable quality.

I love Yamato Hotsuin so much I chose my username in his honor, so there's that.

I don't think there's any aspect of his character that I don't like. I absolutely love his design. I love his lavender hair and his cockatiel fluff and his Matrix jacket and his military boots and his stupid tie that's like 4 feet long. I love that he looks like a mean, scary badass, but he's actually a weird little drama queen who thinks Hibiki is hilarious and criticizes other people for their lack of social skills.

I love that he's so unapproachable that he has no friends, but it takes him less than 24 hours to be on a first name basis with Hibiki. I love that his attachment to Hibiki is so strong that he only has takoyaki with him one single time before he decides that it's not only his favorite food in the world, it's also the first food he ever taught himself how to make. I love him threatening to slit everyone's throat when he thinks they've poisoned the only friend he's ever had against him.

I love that the Triangulum Arc's Golden End is Yamato's route, and a perfect culmination of the immense character development he goes through over the course of the whole game. I've probably played through Record Breaker a good 8 times, and I never, ever get tired of him. Yamato Hotsuin is my forever girl and I'll wax poetic about him at the drop of the hat. He deserves the world!

ok so those guys in particular are from the fox procedural called 9-1-1 Lone Star, which is a spinoff of the original 9-1-1 (which just got moved to abc after some Drama that went down so my tag for it is 911 (not fox) lmaoo). but both shows are about first responders (firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, police) with a particular focus on firefighters. 9-1-1 (the og) is set in LA, and primarily focuses on the 118 firehouse and the firefighters/paramedics there with some other characters in the main cast who work as dispatchers/police officers (the police storylines are more often than not FULL of copaganda which sucks but the main focus is on the firefighters so i'm able to enjoy the rest of the show). 9-1-1 Lone Star is pretty much the same except it's set in austin texas, and is about the 126 firehouse. there are onscreen queer characters in both (in the og there's a married lesbian couple raising a kid, and in lone star there's the aforementioned hot gay boys [one of whom is unfortunately a cop but i swear to GOD i will get him out of there. one day.] and in lone star there's also a trans man and wlw woman in the main cast.) and my favorite thing about these shows is the found family !!! like these are the shows that have endeared firefighter aus to me because they live together and eat meals together and just. the familial/platonic love is So Powerful and it legiterally makes me cry to watch. like there's romance ofc but genuinely it's one of my favorite found family medias to ever exist. its So.

of the two the og is my favorite for a LOT of reasons, but they're both pretty enjoyable !! lone star definitely has more of a comedic tone than og (theyre BOTH funny but lone star doesn't have as many somber intense moments as og does, and they're much more spread out so there's a lot more room for goofy shenanigans. but og still definitely has plenty of those) and the team dynamics in them both are just...ughhh <3333

HOWEVER. lone star has ..... Him...(derogatory)...he's the fire captain and (despite lone star SUPPOSEDLY being an ensemble show with no Main Character) is in fact. the Main Character. and he's the blandest most obnoxious crustiest white man to ever LIVE. he gets most of the storylines and he's constantly propped up by the writing as The Coolest Guy Ever when he's just . not . i hate him so much it's unreal it's soo so unreal (<- biting the bars of my cage) BUT the rest of the team ??? absolutely love them. like i DO love lone star a lot its a great show with great characters and dynamics but it just has. the most annoying guy to ever live front and center when ITS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ENSEMBLE SHOW FEATURING EVERYONE EQUALLY. grr. anyway. og does a much better job of being an ensemble show, and i could not choose a favorite character of the main cast if you held me at gunpoint. angela bassett is there. i am gay. jennifer love hewitt is there. i am very gay. etcetera.

so one of them is tk strand (firefighter/paramedic, also the son of the Main Character (derogatory). i have many many many thoughts about that. i would probably get gunned down in this fandom if i ever said them aloud.) and the other one is carlos reyes (a private detective TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE but unfortunately fox is full of cowards who refuse to see the truth. they wanna have a gay cop in their show sooo bad </3) and they're kind of the main romance of the show (there Are others ofc but theyre like. The Focus. which is fine ig but i do wish there was more focus on other relationships because in general lone star isnt as good as the ensemble thing as og. but i already complained about that so i digress.)

now they're a fun pair because one of them has been shot, frozen almost to death, and otherwise put into a coma on MULTIPLE occasions. and it's not the guy whose entire job is to get shot at. (the whump in both of these shows.....................absolutely effervescent. im thriving here.) and they have a very fascinating relationship because their personalities fit together really well but they have different ways of coping with shit that kind of tear each other apart a little bit. which is of course terrible for them but incredible for me. and the writing is at times ridiculous. soap opera-esque, even. they're ridiculous. i adore them. they cannot catch a god damn break and i love that for them even more. <3

Nah, but the serious answer is that he really doesn't have anything that he would never ever admit. Sure, he may not admit to certain things, like feelings for someone, right away, but that maybe, that eventually, counts all the same. There is no secret he would take to his grave. He prides himself on candidness; if he dislikes you, you will know. If he likes you, you will know. And if he was wrong... well. That's a particularly hard pill for him to swallow, sure, but not an impossible one. He is someone who makes his stances on anything and everything clear, and he ruminates often on his own position on various matters and if they need to change. It's not a point of shame. Those are not things he would ever consider hiding from everyone. The only secrets he would keep to his grave are those entrusted to him by other people.

How I feel about this character: That's my baby boy, he is stuck in my brain and has been for like 2 years now! My favourite character of DC Comics and one of my fav in all fandoms <3

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Like with every characters that get stuck in my head, I ship him with (nearly) everyone in his universe + some crossovers as long as it's relatively well written or the art is good!

My non-romantic OTP for this character: DickDami (also I love them romantically). They have such an interesting relationship in canon and they so clearly love each other <3

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't know how unpopular it is but I wish for him to stop being a vigilante/stop fighting and start helping others by working with charities or something. I want him to rest.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Well, see previous question lmao! But also I want him to explain to his family why he acted as he did when he first came in Gotham and for them to understand that this is a child who was raised in an abusive cult and uprooted from everything he knows and no one explained what was expected of him!
