Wellllll, since I gave a synopsis here, what I'll give to you, my dear, is a snippet!

During the late nights sitting up at his desk with the light of a single lamp glowing feebly in the dark, Alex will often pull out his phone and flip through photos of Henry. Press photos of their fake friendship at the beginning of it all. Selfies snapped to commemorate perfect moments in time, before everything went so wrong. Even new photos of an older Henry that Alex’s fingers ache to touch again, purple circles beneath blue eyes he wishes that he could soothe before blessed sleep, the crease at the corner of his lips that once had begun to smooth but is now more pronounced than ever.

27. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?

I used to treat myself to take out or a nice restaurant meal, depending on if it was a short fic or a long fic. Now restaurants still make me nervous, but I still like to get myself a little treat. Sometimes it's just a Coke, since I don't drink a lot of soda, and sometimes it's a frosty from Wendy's, or some crunchy cheetos with sour cream, which is something my big sister used to get for our girls nights sleepovers after she moved out.

I have only the faintest idea of what this is. It may be something long awaited by a handful of readers of my long fic, but it may also be something that misses the mark entirely and may never go anywhere. We shall see what happens!

Anyone up for being a little experimental? It’s rough and reflects my current mood of “I need to not give a fuck about who I please or displease”.

Of all the challenges Henry has found in his life, Alex is surely the most complex, confounding and insurmountable. Alex has breathed new life into Henry’s existence, made him yearn for a steadfast, honest and true love.

Uncorrupted. Free of obligation, transactional exchanges and deceit.

Henry wants to stop lying to Alex; for Alex; about Alex.

But Alex’s love is suffocating.

Alex demands.

He demands affection and kindness and respect.

Fidelity.

Henry has infinite resources. An endless capacity to please, to submit, to dominate. He can create any fantasy and serve whatever needs arises. He can be anyone to anyone. He can pull himself apart and put himself back together in a new configuration in a single breath and a split second shift of his gaze down, as if merely adjusting a pose.

But Alex demands truth.

A demand for truth demands a reckoning that Henry has no capacity for. He has burned the truth out of himself, banished it along with every unproductive fear that he cannot settle, every instance that his life has disobeyed his will and veered from the path he had set for it.

His mouth nearly betrays him time and time again, spilling words that have no place in his mind but which stumble out from the darkest reaches where he’d shoved them.

listen, this is not new or surprising news, but I am living in my tummy fic universe. it is in my head rent free. and so i'm forcing everyone to come along with me (threatening but affectionate). this week i'm working on a more explicit companion fic to the original, involving some lots of teasing and dom-my Alex and i'm really really excited about it >:) it's still early, so nothing too crazy yet, but here's a bit from that:

Henry turns back and sees Alex sitting up and grinning at him as he shoves a bookmark in his novel and pushes it onto the coffee table. “You’re sleeping.”  “I was, until some flaxen-haired vixen kissed me. Get over here.” Alex quirks one eyebrow at him and fuck, Henry’s his, hook, line and sinker.  Henry goes over to the couch and climbs up, sitting in Alex’s lap. He can’t help but notice the tiny grunt that falls from Alex’s lips acknowledging the weight of Henry atop him. It brings a soft flush to his cheeks, knowing that Alex can feel every ounce of him pressed into his own body. Henry kisses Alex hungrily, nibbling on his lower lip gently. “Missed you,” he says softly into Alex’s mouth. Alex slides his hands over Henry’s hips, holds him steady.

I am 1100 words into March's Adventure for Adventure Saturday so I thought y'all deserved a little treat. A general reminder that this is a massive work for me (13 chapters) and I am working on it when I can, but I am slow.

October teaser:

It’s Friday night and it’s been raining for a full week. Alex is sick of it, but he’s fueled by coffee, a new case to research for a class, and the fact that it’s his turn to plan Adventure Saturday this month. The sun lamp that Bea got him for his birthday is also helping.  Henry isn’t faring as well, though. He usually likes the rain – “it’s soothing,” he’s told Alex on more than one occasion; however, it seems even he’s had enough. He’s been in a funk all week. His Britishisms have gotten worse as the week has gone on, and Alex didn’t even know that was possible. He’s had to ask for translations multiple times.

Hitting the ground running for this WIP Wednesday with the opening to a new sweet and sexy alt meet FirstPrince fic. Alex doesn't have a secret crush on June's coworker Henry. Nora doesn't dare a drunk Alex to kiss him at the office party they've dragged him to. Henry doesn't complain to June about rent in New York, and June does not shove her annoying man-child brother into a sublet. Or maybe that does happen. You can't take my word for it, I'm a writer. Writers lie.

June’s laugh rose above the click-click-click of the gas burner lighting. “What, decaf?” “Abomination,” Alex muttered, turning back to the envelopes in his hand. Who sent paper mail anymore? He dropped the ones he’d flipped through already and stared down at the expensive cream stationery remaining. Careful handwriting addressed the piece to Ms. June Claremont-Diaz in an ink much more blue than blue ink tended to be. Alex flipped it over to find the same gently slanted script revealing the sender. Of course.

Six Sentence Sunday!

Emerging from the depths of the land of the uninspired, exhausted muses, Val is here to share a little bit of writing from a WIP that is close to being finished, but isn't quite there just yet. The wheels have started to turn once more, so I'm hoping by sharing this and getting some validation from y'all, it might just give the muse the push she needs to get back in the game.

No tags as of 10:30 PM ET when I'm about to schedule this, so I'm going to start us off, and if someone tags me between now and midnight ET, I'm sorry in advance haha.

“Turns out attempting to suck my brain out through my dick is pretty fucking sobering because I want to commit it to the long term memory bank, so I’m fine,” he assures, and Henry believes him. The laser focus in his brown eyes, a look that Henry recognizes all too well. He’s seen it in the middle of the night, gazing back at him from the office where Alex was hunched over his laptop and surrounded by a pile of law books. He’s seen it in the kitchen, Alex’s tongue sticking out from between his lips as he attempts one of his abuela’s recipes. And he’s seen it in Kensington Palace, what might as well be in another lifetime now, lighting the midnight dark and filling Henry with a hope that he didn’t feel he deserved for a life that he is now living. “And I want it. I want you.”

I was thinking about the scene where April kills Cas temporarily (e.g. until Gadreel heals him), and the Destiel components range from kinda-hilarious to subtle-and-painful, so I bring them to y'all.

OK-so it's Wednesday and WIPs and all that

ok so i meant to get back to hockey and books 'cuz that's where i wanna be right now but my brain was in a not so creative place until someone broke me out of it last night

so for wirp wednesday i got bits of a new thing that is gonna be part of a series NOT-SO-MUCH ONE NIGHT STANDS (cuz well they don't necessarily stay that way) that i've already got 2 fics going for - one firstprince and one liam/pez cuz well that's apparently really becoming a thing for me

Now, it’s moments like right now, where he’s biting his way across Alex’s thighs, thighs sprinkled with just the right amount of hair, hairy in the way that Henry likes, not just a dusting but actual hair that catches on his tongue as he lavishes the spots he’s sucked bruises into. These moments are the ones that make him so glad he got away from everything else. He can have this anonymous moment with someone so hot he doesn’t want to kick him out the way he has the others eventually. It’s halfway through the morning after, and they’ve yet to get out of bed for more than bathroom trips – one of those with some spectacular moments in the shower – and some quick trips to the kitchen for drinks and some quick snacks when Alex lures him into turning on the tv and watching a movie after round three. They barely make it through the movie when Henry is orgasming for the fourth time that night. Henry is no stranger to multiple orgasms; he’s in his low 20s and knows that brings with it a quicker refractory period. But Alex, the stranger who’s fast working on filling Henry in on every aspect of his life so it no longer feels that way, is doing things for that quick refractory period he’s never experienced before.  Henry doesn’t know how he got so lucky last night when he accompanied Pez and Liam to the club, but he is beyond happy that Liam decided to bring his friend, and that said friend was agreeable to finding his way into Henry’s bed.

I guess the pattern I can say is I tend to cut to the chase? In Chinese we call it 開門見山 Kai Men Jian Shan "Open the Door and you see the mountain". This phrase has been repeated in my Chinese writing class so many times during high school lol
