Hi,

I have kind of an unusual ask to put out there for my fellow P/C shippers

I have shipped PC for 30 years, (I’m 39) but I have never written fic for them. I just now am getting up enough courage to try, but I have a bit of a hurdle. I want to do the best job possible, but I have a physical disability that makes physically typing, and even more hand writing, a slow process. It probably takes me twice as long for me to type a page of writing ( or something like this post I’m currently typing myself ) due to motor coordination speed issues, as if would for one of you .

And I want to put so much emotional detail, family interaction and hurt comfort into this fic that my ideas are getting way ahead of my typing speed. I only have one page typed but have so much crafted in my head that it’s frustrating not to be able to get it out quickly. I have typed fic for myself before but it is usually short, for the longer stuff, I usually dictated to friends. But I don’t have a lot of friends who have typed for me before, that also like P/C, and the ones that both have and do, are busy right now.

Is there anyone out there in P/C land who would be willing to type this story for me, either live over zoom or FaceTime or by transcribing voice notes that I send them?

For those wondering: Doing dictation to Siri etc, would be an option, except that it doesn’t work out that great as I have a bit of a speech impediment so a human typist would be best

You could also feel free to discuss content and characterization with me if you wish as I do not have a P/C beta yet. You would be credited in my author’s note as typist ( and beta if you took on that role)

(I cannot afford to pay anyone for their time but would be willing to self type a short fic with a premise of their choosing in return for this help or write a longer one with that same premise if they wanted to transcribe it again.)

That all sounds like it might be okay, you say, but what is the premise of what I’m being asked to type here?

The premise of the fic at its core, is a childbirth scenario so if you that is not your cup of tea I do not want to make you sit through it. It will have a happy ending, but may be somewhat angsty in places. (The angst will NOT involve the baby’s survival or Beverly’s or Jean Luc’s etc) It will be a one shot , but may be 10-20 + pages of words. It will contain spoilers for both all of TNG and Season 3 of Picard.

Please let me know if you would be interested in doing this by sending me an ask . I will respond to it privately unless it’s requesting more information that might be helpful to anyone who might consider doing this

Below is a longish one shot story I wrote for Janeway/Chakotay a long time ago. It is not childbirth or baby centric but may give you an idea of the writing style you would be transcribing.

Anonymous typing

It's July 31st, 2023

As of late I've been trying to get some of my thoughts down on paper and I've found it so... difficult! It's been so intimidating!

It's like my brain heard my plea to get things done "properly" and automatically started malfunctioning! I've been struggling so much with perfectionism, AKA the grappling fear of FKCNG up. So much so, I've been too scared to even get started.

So this is me, typing at midnight, saying FCK it! I'll vomit my thoughts onto this page and not look back. I'll vent, scream and probably cry a little while typing my confessions in the anonymity (sort of) of the internet.

Whoever you may be, dear reader, you're welcome to join on this strange journey into the wordy unknown.

sos type my fic for money

strongly considering just paying someone to re-type my fan-fiction for me because this is doing my head in >< do i know anyone looking for an odd job? it would involve typing from photos i'd send you of my fan-fiction journal. you'd have to be ok with my handwriting & you'd have to be ok typing occasional smutty parts, & you'd *have* to be discreet & not share my WIPs with anyone

for context: the hard drive of my previous laptop overheated & i lost all my writing files on it. i write most of my first drafts by hand in my fan-fic journals & then type them. it's a complete pain in the ass that i need to re-type everything, especially since i work full-time, & that's why i'm lookin for a handy helper
