Summary: Reader is a coach’s daughter.

Author’s Note: I gave Diego a random ass number lmao. Also, no hate to no sabo kids. Also, maybe a multipart series? 

     Your dad was a very valuable man in the football community, especially Mexico. Football and Mexico ran in his veins like crazy. His passion was unlike any other, which is why the Mexican Selection team needed him. Everyone was sure he would guide Mexico into a new season of triumph and success. 

     Unfortunately for you, that meant you had to leave everything you knew in America and move to Mexico. Sure, you had a lot of love for Mexico. After all, it was quite literally your mother’s and father’s land. But, America was your home, you had been here for two decades. All your friends and family were here, so you weren’t super excited to leave everything behind just so your dad could teach a bunch of men how to play football. 

     Your father sensed your sadness and decided the best way to make it up to you was to bring you to work with him. Maybe his love and passion would rub off on you and you would finally understand that this was a good thing. 

     “Hijita, por favor, I don’t want you to be sad anymore.” Your dad begged as he kept his eyes on the road. You sighed, staring out the passenger side window. You two were on your way to the team’s practice. 

     “I know papa, but you know I don’t even like football.” It was true, you weren’t interested at all. He sighed at your response as he parked the car. 

     “Okay but, please just be nice to my players. And don’t worry about speaking Spanish, they all understand English.” You nodded as you both exited the car and headed to the trunk. Your father passed you a few orange cones and he slung a mesh bag of dozens of soccer balls behind his back and you both made your way to the open field. 

     In the distance you saw a group of men and when they noticed your dad, they instantly cheered and ran up to greet him. They hugged him and shook his hand before turning their attention to you. Nothing is as uncomfortable as millions of eyes staring at you, especially when those eyes belong to the most gorgeous men you’ve ever seen. 

     “Amigos, esta es mi hija, (Y/N).” Your father said in Spanish, introducing you. 

     “Mucho gusto, déjame ayudarte con esos conos.” A man with curly hair and gloves said, reaching out his hand. You noticed the number 13 on his uniform. (translation: nice to meet you, let me help you with those cones)

     “Umm. Hello?” You said in an unsure manner, reaching out to shake his hand. If you were being completely honest, your spanish was horrid. You hated to admit it but you were a bit whitewashed. The man looked at you with furrowed eyebrows but smiled a little. 

     “¿Que, no español?” He chuckled, sending a look towards your father. Your father sighed, as if he was disappointed at your lack of bilingual skills. (What, no spanish?)

     “Yes, about that. My daughter has spent all her life in America so please try to speak to her in English,” Your dad announced to the team as he placed both of his hands on your shoulder. 

     “Hopefully this time in Mexico will do some good for her Spanish, right?” He asked, looking down at you, shaking you slightly as you nodded in agreement. God this was so awkward. 

     Every football player took turns shaking your hand and greeted you in English. Well almost every football player except number 18. He shook your hand and proudly greeted you in spanish. He was absolutely beautiful. His caramel skin and hazel eyes left you red and flabbergasted. 

     The whole time you sat on the bench watching the team, you couldn’t keep your eyes off him. When practice was over, you said your goodbyes to the team and began walking to the car with your dad. 

     “¡Espera, tus conos!” You heard a voice yell behind you. Your dad chuckled as number 18 handed you the orange cones you accidentally left behind. (Wait, your cones!) 

     “Gracias, Dieguito.” Your dad thanked him, Diego smiled at him and then at you. He flashed his perfect teeth, and you couldn’t help but blush. 

     “Si, gracias,” you said, trying your best not to present your American accent. 

     He smirked and before jogging back to his teammates he said, “You’re welcome, American girl.”

I literally wrote this in like an hour because I was so desperate for any writing posts with football players. Lord knows how feral this world cup is making me.

One Hell of a Vacation

Summary: You're in Spain for a vacation, but you wound up in the wrong place… you find your savior, but… you might annoy him. Just a little.

Takes place in modern times and not 2005, because I said so, and so then I could make certain jokes lol

Also, probably not very correct in the timeline of the game, it's really just for the haha's LMAO

Leon walked up to a home with his gun in hand. He’d already encountered many… “locals” in Spain, and he was always prepared to be greeted by more. He didn’t expect to hear whines from behind the door, though. Unsure if it could actually be an enemy or not, he knocked. Suddenly the whines stopped and it sounded like someone held their breath.

“Who’s in there?” He spoke with a stern tone. No response. “You don’t have to pretend, I know you’re in there,” He sighed.

“Nobody’s home,” A small voice spoke, almost like a squeaky mouse.

Leon groaned and placed his forehead on the door while he leaned onto it. “I can’t deal with this shit…” He muttered to himself. “I’m coming inside!”

“That’s trespassing!” The tiny voice spoke up again. “No one’s here!” 

Leon ignored the small voice and went to open the door anyway, which was locked. “Unlock the door, or I kick it down,” He demanded. Silence. “Okay,” He shrugged and backed up. He put all of his strength into his right leg and kicked the doorknob, forcing it open.

“Ahhh!” The no longer squeaky voice yelled at the loud bang and him as he walked in. They were sitting in the opposite corner of the room from the door. Knees-up, arms wrapped around their legs. “Don’t come any closer I, uh,” They stuttered, searching around them in a panic. “I have a stick and I know how to use it!” They grabbed the wooden stick next to them and pointed it at Leon.

Leon’s shoulders slumped and he sighed in annoyance. He pulled up his gun and pointed it at them. “Who are you?”

“Guns aren’t something to mess around with, you know!” They panic again. “Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me!” 

“Tell me who you are, or I’ll shoot you like you’re one of the cultists!” Leon threatened.

“Please, I don’t even know how to speak Spanish!” They shouted in fear, dropping the stick and raising both hands up in surrender. “Please, I came to Spain on vacation and now Adam Sandler is trying to get in my head,” They started sobbing uncontrollably.

“Adam…” Leon put down his gun and looked at the person in complete disbelief. “Sandler?” He groaned and threw his head down, placing two fingers on his temple as he massaged it. “Do you mean… Osmund… Saddler?”

They look up at Leon through their blurred tears, and their facial expression almost turned into one of shock. “Oh my God, I thought they were saying Adam Sandler this whole time!” They exclaimed, then began sobbing more uncontrollably. “I’m so stupid!” They groaned into their hands while they covered their face.

If Leon could abandon this random human, he would. Unfortunately, he was… a good person. He groaned at the thought. “What’s your name?” He sighed in defeat.

They released their hands from their face and looked at Leon with puffy red eyes. “I’m Y/N,” You replied.

Leon walked forward to you and crouched down to your level. You flinched slightly. “I’m Leon,” He introduced himself and stuck out his hand. “I’m here to help,”

You looked at him in awe as he began to be more calm and assuring towards you. “Really?” Your words came out in a whisper.

“Yes,” Leon responded. “Really,” You took his hand and he helped you get up on your two feet. “How did you get here, anyway?”

You scratch the back of your head and chuckle awkwardly. “Long story,”

“I got all day. Except not really,” 

“So, basically I had a pen pal from Spain, and we planned this trip to meet, but I got here, and I was like ‘woah, they aren’t at our meeting place, did I get catfished?’ or however it’d be, and so I asked around the town for their location and people knew who they were, but said they recently went missing, so I was like ‘yo what the fuck’ and so they explained to me all the missing people shit and this area and that my friend had come here, so I decided to Nancy Drew this shit thinking I was the bravest person to walk the Earth, and now I’m here,” You responded in one long run-on sentence in one long breath. Once finished, you started breathing heavily to catch your breath. “There’s the TLDR.”

Leon listened attentively to your TLDR. “Do you know where they are now?”

“Oh, they’re dead,” You spoke bluntly. “Like, dead dead. SUPER dead.” You laughed, but it was obvious to mask the pain and trauma of whatever happened.

“How did they die?”

“Have you seen the anime, Chainsaw Man?”

“Oh…”

“Yeah…” Leon sighed, unsure of what to say. “I’m in way too much shock right now to think, if I just smile, it never happened, right?” You speak with a look of pain on your face along with a smile. You kind of look awkward and freaky.

“It happens,” Leon shrugs. “Anyway, I need to find someone. I’m on a rescue mission for her. I had her, but she ran after Saddler had gotten to her. Have you seen a young girl with blonde hair anywhere?” 

You shake your head. “I’ve been hiding in here for a long time now. I haven’t seen much,” You explain. “I also really need to pee, so it’s hard to pay attention to anything,”

Leon groans in annoyance. “Is there not a bathroom in this place?”

“There is a bathroom here, but that’s disgusting! I don’t want to get some disease, or even worse, have some worm thing eat my ass!” You complain, your words shocking Leon and having his entire body language and facial expression fall in defeat.

“I have no idea what to do with you,” Leon mumbles. “Is there a bush outside you can just use?” He huffs out.

“But what will I wipe with? I don’t want piss on my underwear.”

“A leaf, I don’t know?”

“Wouldn’t that be painful?”

“God, just piss your pants then for all I care!” Leon’s voice raised in frustration. He was so upset and annoyed, and you were no help for him. But, he couldn’t just leave an innocent civilian, either. “You can argue with me about where to piss, or you can just do it! I’m going to leave here with or without you!”

“Okay, okay, God, I’ll pee in the bush!” You shouted back and rushed out the back door. Leon waited, quite impatiently, and when you returned from your bathroom break he looked at you in defeat. “I’ve successfully pissed in the bush,”

Leon shut his eyes tightly. He was never one to be religious, but he was suddenly praying to God to give him strength to deal with you. “Let’s get going,” He huffed.

When you two had turned around to walk away, two locals had begun to walk over. You screamed. Obviously, like any normal human being. Leon quickly took out a shotgun and shot both, their heads blown to pieces. You stared in shock. Your face then turned pale when tentacles came wiggling out of their necks where their head should be.

“Oh my God, why are they worms!” You screamed. “No, I will not love you if you were a worm, get away!” You panicked, going over to Leon and grabbing the pistol in his holster.

“What are you-“ But before he could finish his question, you began shooting aimlessly at the worms. 

“This is why I don’t wanna use the toilet! What if they eat my ass!” You scream, your eyes shut as you continue to shoot. You were lucky that you didn’t shoot Leon, and the locals did get shot a couple of times, but you did waste all the ammo Leon had.

“God fucking dammit!” Leon shouted as he turned back to the enemies and shot them with his shotgun again, enough to kill them entirely. “What the fuck were you doing?” He shouted at you.

“Self-defense!”

“You used all the ammo!”

“I was scared!”

“Gah!”

“Ahh!”

After Leon was done with his fit of frustrated grunts, and you finished your confused screams, you both caught your breath. “I’m going to help you leave,” He started to speak while he panted. “And then I never want to see you again. Okay?”

“Yes, sir,” You squealed with fear and saluted Leon.

You were having one hell of a vacation.

having finished watching the bear in the early hours of the morning, i have some thoughts rattling around in my head that i need to jot down because they keep distracting me from work, lmao. spoilers under the cut 

→ i had fun! it was emotional! it was stressful! i was entertained and then i had to suppress the feelings of familial relatability brought up in ep. 6!  → MARCUS!!! TINA!!! NAT!!! EBRA!!! RICHIEEEEEEE!!!!! All going through their own shit, changing, emotional, relentless, scared, nervous. I especially loved Richie this season and he had a speech in ep. 1 that broke my heart ("I'm 45, I've been here a long time, you feel me? I mean, you know what the fuck you're doing, you know. You love all this shit. It's fun for you. I don't have that. I'm afraid imma wake up and you guys are all just gonna cut—just drop this ass.")

→ Sydney, light of my life. Her fierce ambition, so obvious and strong in S1, got tempered by doubt and distrust in her partner, by the gradual recognition that she is doing so much, too much, by herself. I don’t think it bodes well that the last shots we get of her, she’s ralphing after opening night service—after an intense kitchen set-up that tests her limits and shows who she can and cannot trust. (Giving Carmy in NY, throwing up before service vibes). And honestly? I wouldn't be mad if she really, really starts doubting her partnership with Carmy and just dips. 

→ Anyway, I came back to add that Sydney, despite her doubts and not-unfounded fears, is such a positive source for those around her. We saw it in S1, when she gave Marcus a confidence boost, when Tina sought her approval after initially being very hesitant about her. And that faith in others just increased in this season, and god, to be around someone like that, who lifts others up no matter what, is so rare. I love her so much. (And her carrying around that book the whole season! Just holding onto courage and confidence, letting it shape her leadership.) 

→ I'm so happy Natalie wasn’t relegated to glimpses this time around. She's present and focused and involved in dismantling her family’s trauma and history, and I love that for her. I also love her and Syd's relationship (them almost being synchronised in saying Carmy Problem) and her interactions with Fak, lmao. 

→ Tina at culinary school! Tina with reservations about her place but thriving and finding inspiration. There's a moment where some of the people in her class all go out, and they invite her, and when she meets them at the bar, they've all got a nasty judgemental face (it's def an age thing) but then she EATS THEM UP at karaoke with a beautiful song in English & Spanish, TINA TE ADORO. 

→ I immediately re-watched Marcus's episode and I want a spin-off series where he stages at different world-renowned bakeries and lives his best patissier life. 

→ That Variety piece that said Carmy was the least interesting character in this show was RIGHT ("It’s no coincidence that these weaker points tend to involve Carmy, a character perfectly rendered by White who’s still the least interesting part of his own show.") 

→ Speaking of: the romance between Carmy and Claire (which we all unfortunately saw happening after the trailer, and is fucking annoying, and yes part of it is because I love Syd & Carmy together, but also because the showrunners pledged no romance in the show which would have been fine, too) is BORING. So boring. I know Claire is going to get a lot of hate and honestly, it's barely fair because she's just not developed as a character at all. Beyond being someone Carmy knew in his past, and who is now stealing his time and energy away from the restaurant, there's not much to her. She's written with so little dimension, and exists purely to be Carmy's lil girlfriend and it's disappointing. She could have at least been fucking interesting. 

→ Carmy's so angry around the time of the opening, and he projects it onto everyone else, and it's really his own fault that he's not aware of what's happening in the restaurant.  → Okay so another thing—Sydney talks about how much she wants a Michelin star, how it’ll make The Bear a true destination spot. And rudely, Carmy goes, “you really want one of these bullshit stars?” to which Syd says yes, I really do, and this fucking dickhead tells her: “you’re gonna to have to care about everything, more than anything” AND HE STILL LET HER DOWN!!!!!!!! The more I think about it, the more upset I get. 

→ Also, Michael doesn't haunt the narrative the way he did last season—his presence is so faint. There's moments, of course, but it just feels like something is missing or off. I had expected some sort of sentiment to come to the surface towards the end of the season at least, some sense of acknowledgement that maybe he would have loved The Bear, or hated it, or something, from literally anyone—Carmy, Nat, Richie, someone—but nope, nothing besides the cannoli.

→ Episode 6, man. Episode fucking six. Natalie Berzatto, you deserve peace. 

→ Anyway, overall there’s a sort of bite missing in this season. The looming threat of Cicero has been softened a lot and yes, obviously internal workings at The Bear are the new obstacles but it doesn’t feel quite the same. Maybe it's a lack of tension, or a lack of anxiety? I don't know how else to explain it.

I’d like to say maybe dialogue? I feel the most comfortable writing it.

Flow. I don’t ever feel like I have the correct flow in my stories.

So I have, and am currently. I don’t know any other languages, so unfortunately google translate is my friend, but I truly enjoy adding the little extra depth to a character who doesn’t speak the same language as the other characters.

It’s a bit of a tie between my Mind Your Manners series and Into the Clear. I really enjoyed writing them and they made me very happy. They also took over my head and it ended up being really easy to write them. Which is always nice 🫶

what’s the last movie you’ve watched? I think it’s I Know What You Did Last Summer LMAO. For context me and a couple friends get together on Discord to watch movies from time to time so we can chat and talk shit during the movie, and we tend to chose 90-early 2000s rom-coms or classic horror, and this one kinda fits into both so it was an obvious choice lol. Now I’m trying to get them to watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind this weekend.

If your mother tongue is not the language you write now, what caused you to switch languages?

Unfortunately I can only speak English. I’d have loved to learn a new language but I just didn’t the attention span when younger nor did I like being forced to learn French and Spanish at school so I refused to learn them and just do the bare minimum to pass my exams :’)

Are you happy with how your favorite canon muse was portrayed in canon?

I mean... Eh? We haven’t really got much Zhongli lore wise since his second Character story and he’s only briefly appeared in a few events. Even then not much is really revealed bar crumbs. I don’t like how fanon likes to idk... Make him seem innocent and stuff like. Mans morally grey. He doesn’t hate the Fatui nor the Tsaritsa from what I remember and I see people seem to believe he’s some beef with them. 

I also think people tend to forget who he was. We only know what Genshin feeds us and even then we learn that some stories like Rex Lapis Incognito shouldn’t be taken as truth as even some things aren’t true/exaugurated. Even then people forget he was a warrior and that and seem to idk... Act like he isn’t? And that he abandoned his country when he didn’t???? Idk he’s very complicated and in canon we only get crumbs and with them crumbs fanon likes to make him seem innocent and stuff half the time so. With what we see in the main quest I do like but I do wish he got a bit more love in some events. Same with Tag but I don’t wanna open my can of worms on him!

Who is your favorite OC?

I don’t write him here. But his names Rohan and he was originally an RK900 from Detroit Become Human. I’d like to bring him here eventually but I don’t know if I will??? Mainly cause I don’t really have good Faceclaim for him that’s like animation style. Only realism right now. If I pick one I like maybe I’ll bring him here. He’s based kinda in futuristic settings due to DBH so think like Cyperpunk and games that have that as he does have a prosthetic cybernetic arm. And he’s a lowkey corrupt Detective for the police atm. Yeah we’ll see.

Is there any fandom you regret exploring?

Yes... I do. I won’t mention any really but just there are certain fandoms I just avoid for personal reasons due to how they where in the past and because of that I like to avoid them for my own sake.

Have you ever developed a ship based on writing with a certain other character / mun?

I have in the past. Just ships I didn’t think would occur just happened or wouldn’t consider and they just happened and I always enjoyed them in the end. It’ll hopefully happen here maybe one day but then again I don’t mind if it doesn’t. Sometimes it’s fun to develop unlikely relationships with characters that you didn’t think would occur uwu

What trend would you wish to see on here?

I honestly don’t know. I’ve seen so many over the years and they’ve all be kinda fun. I think seeing like promos with a silly little tumblr/twitter shitpost quote would be nice to see. I’ve had like 2 over the years. The first was like my Marvel days so like 8+ years. The other was with The Arcana so that was like 2/3 years ago I think. Like they where always easy to do and just a bit of fun. I might do one again one day.

Oh, I wish I spoke freely a lot of languages, but I'm lazy. I studied French at school, but all I can do us probably read without mistakes. French was my first love and I wanted to know it so fucking bad, I was obsessed. But the teacher at my school ruined it for me and made me kinda detest it for a couple of years - and it makes me sad. I love it now and want to start learning it again. Just mad that some teachers can ruin even the subject that you love :( I know a bit German because of college, but I'm really not good at it. I can read some slavic languages, but definitely not speak them. It's just nice, when sometimes I go on Twitter for god knows what reason, and see a plethora of different languages on my timeline and can read them and even understand! Carlos Madrigal was sick.

Or so he thought he was. Lately, he had been feeling weird in his stomach, his face was always turning red, and he was nervous almost all the time. The reason? (Y/n) (l/n).

After what happened between the two of you last week. Whenever he saw you, he felt the urge to just..run up to you and talk, it didn’t matter if it was important or not. When he sees your smile he would feel butterflies start swarming up in his stomach, when he hears your laugh he feels so at ease.

Most of all, he felt conflicted when he was with you.

He didn’t like it at all.

The two of you had always done that to each other, calm the other down after a fight and help them recover, patching up their injuries. Maybe banter here and there but last week felt…different to him.

He had never felt this way with someone before. Carlos knew he was stupid, but he wasn’t that stupid. He knew what he was feeling about you and he..well, of course was disgusted. I mean, he knew you were pretty, gorgeous, sure. But he hated you, or well he was supposed to? He wasn’t quite sure. But he knows he’s not supposed to fall for someone like you.

On the top of his list of reasons not to like you was that he didn’t deserve you. I mean, look at him.

“I can hear you thinking from here,”

Carlos jumps from his seat on his bed, almost giving himself a whiplash from how fast he turned his head. His eyes wide but soon his face falls to an annoyed look.

“Does nobody in this family knock?” He grumbled.

Dolores smiles. “I did knock. Unfortunately for you, you didn’t hear it at all” she says. Taking a seat next to him. “I wonder why,” she teased.

His face flushed red, turning his head to avoid his sister's watchful gaze. Feeling embarrassed as he was caught red handed. “N-No idea what you're talking about” he tries to lie.

“Don’t bother lying, hermano. I can tell just from your face that you were thinking about (y/n)” Dolores laughs. Poking his side.

Carlos sighs for what felt like the hundredth time today.

“So? What if I was?”

His sister hums in response, patting her lap. Carlos huffs childishly. Laying his head down. Closing his eyes as his sister runs a hand through his hair, soon enough he relaxes.

“Were you thinking about how you weren’t good enough? Or how you don’t deserve her?” Dolores asked quietly.

“Since when could you read minds??”

She laughs. Pinching his cheek. “Youre mi hermano, i don’t need the ability to read minds to know” her laughter dies down as she turns serious. “But honestly, thinking like that won’t do you any good”

“Yeah?” Carlos hummed. Feeling sleepy.

“Under all this rough exterior you have, you’re a good kid” she begins. “You two are like two sides of the same coin you know? You need each other to be whole, (y/n) knows you just as well as I do… Besides, you’ll never know once you try, take the chance. The worst case scenario is you get rejected but that’s part of life”

“Cuándo te volviste tan sabia, hermana?”

“I know a lot of things,” she smirked. Pushing his head away carefully, Standing up slowly as she begins to leave. “Think about it carefully” was the last thing she said before closing the door behind her.

Carlos heaves a soft, annoyed groan. Falling onto his bed.

As he closes his eyes and sleeps.

He was avoiding you.

Sure it sounded bad..okay it sounded horrible, but he couldn’t bare to even stand in the same area as you without turning red and feeling giddy, he almost vomited at the thought. It was so uncharacteristic of him. Even the entire town was worried at how quiet he was being.

Carlos knew that you were going to catch on soon, you were going to find out that he was avoiding you and god was he not ready to be confronted yet. He knew that you were pushy and always wanted to make sure he was okay…in an aggressive manner sure, but still.

He hid in the forest as he avoided you, somewhere only the two of you know. It was a small lake hiding in the forest of the encanto, it was peaceful and quiet enough for him to gather his thoughts. He was pacing so much he didn’t even hear you.

“Wow, you seem pretty conflicted with yourself these days,” you laugh. Poking his arm

He yelps. “Jesus, what is with everyone sneaking up on me?” He exclaimed. You shrug. “Well, you have been pretty unfocused these past few weeks” you say with a small smile.

His face started to heat up as he gazed at you.

God, he was down bad.

“No i haven’t”

“Don’t lie, pendejo”

“Shut up”

“You shut up”

He groans. “You’re so annoying, don’t you have some guys to beat up or something?”

You tilt your head, confused.

Fucking hell that’s so cute he thought. Quickly looking away from you. “You’re avoiding me,” you said.

“No ‘m not..” he mumbled.

You huff. Walking towards him, roughly turning him around to face you “Stop lying, what’s wrong? Did Daniel say some shit again?”

Carlos rolls his eyes. You really were persistent. As he stares at you he regretted it the second he did, you were so close to his face and you looked so..pretty.

Carlos tunes it out for the most part as he gazes at you. His face softened as he watched you ramble on and on about something, it seemed like time slowed down. The sun was hitting your face making you look even more ethereal, your hair was a mess but he loved it either way, you looked so free and your dark eyes shone so bright underneath the sun. It was like his breath was taken away as he kept watching you with a loving gaze.

He couldn’t take it anymore as he grabs your arm and pulls you in for a hug.

“I like you..” he whispered.

You freeze in his arms. As Carlos buried his face In your hair. “I have been avoiding you because of that…to be honest I’ve never felt this way with someone before and I didn’t know what to do so my first instinct was to run away as always…’m sorry”

A silence falls between the two of you.

Then..

You laugh.

Carlos gapes. Watching you laugh so hard you begin to lean on him for support. He loved seeing you laugh but he didn’t know whether to be offended or not.

“I’m sorry..! It’s just..!” You giggle. Trying to catch your breath. “That’s so stupid…!” You cackle.

“It is not!” Carlos exclaimed, but began to laugh himself.

The two of you topple down onto the grass. Laughing together, as Carlos held you close to him. He’d never felt so at home with you in his arms.

“Are you serious about that?” You grin. Sitting up on your elbows. “Yeah..” Carlos replied, sheepishly.

Your grin only widens. Kissing his nose.

“You’re so stupid”

“You’re the stupid one!”

“I’m not the one who was having a crisis with himself!”

He gasps. “That’s foul, (l/n)!” He exclaimed. Tickling you.

You squeal. “Don’t you fucking dare, pendejo” you sit up? Moving far away from him. “Come here, corazon” he smirked as he began to chase you around.

Summary

All in all, a fairly mixed week. I’m feeling burned out and depressed and anxious and I feel like I have nowhere to turn to and I’m not about to bother anyone with my own stupid non-problems. But then, I’ve been feeling that way for months, so I guess I’m gonna just keep pushing on through and hoping that things will change soon. I have my italki pre-approval meeting on Wednesday and then I finally get to start teaching. I’m terrified, but hopefully having something extra to do and keep my brain occupied will help (it’s a risk though because if I get even 1 not-so-great review my confidence will probably be ruined, but I have nothing else going for me so I guess it’s worth a shot). A change is as good as a rest, right?

Norwegian

I tried out a new italki tutor this week and she was lovely! We had such a nice relaxed conversation :) She said to me she wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to learn from her because I speak so well and she didn’t have to correct me at all haha. So next time I’ll come armed with some more advanced topics to discuss instead of just making small talk about familiar topics (performance arts, cats and the pandemic mostly).

I’m still not sure what to do in regards to tutors... I’ve been using two different ones and the original plan was to alternate weekly. Unfortunately because I have Problems, that ended up being two lessons a week. But now I feel like shaking it up and trying out different tutors but I still like the ones I have? And I’d feel sad if I ditch them (even though one of them is always rescheduling and honestly I’m kinda sick of it lol). But also I want to cut down to one session a week again (that makes me sound like an addict which tbf isn’t necessarily inaccurate) and if I’m trying out different tutors then I won’t be able to keep up lessons with my current tutors.

I’ll think about it.

Spanish

I can feel myself getting burned out with this intense Spanish already lmao. I guess because I’m just trying to get my grammar back up to speed and refreshing vocabulary. Also, I’m mostly using textbooks and the immersion I’m doing is quite difficult so I can’t just relax and enjoy it. I need to find something fun to get into! I started watching SKAM España in an attempt to do just that, but I don’t really understand much without English subtitles. Still, it’s something. And I enjoyed Dreaming Spanish and didn’t find that too hard, so I’ll try watching more of that this week.

I’m still considering italki lessons. Once I’m back up to speed on a few more verb tenses I probably will (right now I’m aware of them and roughly how to form them/use them but they need refreshing for sure). I’ve had a look at some tutors and there’s a few that look nice and aren’t too pricey. Although I’ve gotta say, I wish more of them would tell me about themselves and their classes in their bio/intro video. They basically all just list their qualifications and it’s. so boring? Like congratulations you’re qualified so is every other professional teacher on this website that’s literally what professional teacher means. I wanna know if you’re someone I can vibe with, y’know?

Again, I’ve just been working with Duolingo refreshing certain skills. And once again, I’m realising that things that once made no sense at all now click and I can recognise a lot of kanji that I previously struggled with. It’s actually inspiring me to get back to it properly because I can see how much progress I’ve actually made. But it’s probably a good thing to go over and strengthen my foundations right now.
