Murder Tango AU

collab AU with @geoporost !!

In this AU, Daniel (Spy) suffered from a devastating loss when his wife and son (yes, Scout and his mother) were murdered when he was younger. He was just a poor and unknown man at the time so the crime was ignored, left uninvestigated. With no one else seeking justice, Daniel decided to find the killer by himself.

But the deeper he searched, the more he realized that this wasn’t just a simple murder, but part of something much bigger and far more complex. His plan of vengeance he made have put him on a path he never expected to be in. He worked to become a profiler and joined the police force, where he met James (Engineer) introduced to him by their commander Terry (Demo) to be his assistant in this case.

As the case unfolded, Daniel discovered more people connected to the murder of his wife and child, and he killed every single one of them. But there was a problem: he was now part of the very investigation hunting him down. Using his position, he subtly altered evidence, covering his tracks in ways only he could.

However, James was brilliant man, too brilliant even, after the loss of his arm while chasing a killer, he had built himeslf his own robotic hand that was a deadly wapon. Daniel knew that if James kept digging, he might eventually put the pieces together and find him. So, he found the perfect way to distract him: seduction. As they grew closer, Daniel became James' solace, his only source of warmth in the darkness of the case. And yet, at the same time, he was the very thing poisoning James’ mind. The more the mystery eluded him, the more it drove him mad.

Meanwhile, Sebastian (Sniper) had been making his own investigation on the side. Unlike James, he actually uncovered the truth. But before he could tell his best friend, Daniel eliminated him. James had lost his only true friend—at the hands of the man he trusted most.

And in his grief, his exhaustion, his loneliness, Daniel was right there, ready to pull him even further into his embrace.

There’s so much more to this AU, but that’s all I’m going to say for now. ;)

"007n7-" You got cut off. "You can call me father, I already told you I don't mind it anymore." His voice was sweet, making you quickly change his registry in your system before continuing.

"Right... Father, may I request you take a look at my programming?" You asked gently, receiving a confused head tilt in return. "Did something happen?" It was like he knew.

You were hesitating for some reason, knowing his son- technically your brother- was a sensitive topic. And he didn't fail to pick up on it as you spoke. "I think there is something wrong in CK's directory..." You spoke quietly, knowing better than to say his full name outloud because you didn't like seeing 007 so heartbroken like he was during rounds. But there it was again, the guilt.

He didn't need to say anything and simply took you to his cabin to check on you. "You said his directory might have an error?" He asked cautiously, with you only able to nod as you just looked forward to the wall.

"I don't see anything unusual..." He mumbled as he clicked and typed away. You knew where he was looking and tried to point him towards the file you marked 'Unknown Emotion'.

"Kid this- This just sounds like you're... Guilty?" He sounded as shocked as you were when it first happened. But you just nodded again and he sighed.

He simply renamed it and decided to let it be. "Don't feel bad about it... It just means you're learning to be an actual kid. It's natural to feel guilty over hurting... Your brother." You didn't dare look at him now. You just knew he was trying to hold back again.

"But just- Don't worry about it. I feel that way too when I even look at him. You won't have to stun him if that makes it worse. I won't even fault you for that. What matters is that you survive and don't try to get in his way or anything." He sounded almost guilty himself. Just not over c00lkidd this time... Was he guilty over you?

And what do you know- C00lkidd was the killer for the next round!

Despite 007's orders, you went off on your own after noticing everyone going to the same half of the map. You wanted to be helpful and maybe distract your dear brother for a while to try and talk with him.

And so would a new loop begin between you and c00lkidd. A loop in which you were subconsciously fighting a power higher than any of you...

Since his introduction, we've seen that Kid has a strong connection to the overall storyline and other characters. We see his progress post timeskip, even cutting to him during arcs he's not a part of, and he's been in half the total anime openings since his introduction.

As the Supernova who had the highest initial bounty he's set up as a rival to Luffy. While their personalities are opposite, Kid's attacks are shown to mirror Luffy's gear 3 and 4. Based on this it seems likely that he will eventually gain an ability to mirror Gear 5 as well.

He's also got a connection to Vegapunk. It's unclear just what it is currently, but it's important to note that Kid gained his “Punk” naming system and major mechanical creations after we learn about VP. In his childhood art, he's even holding a robot.

His strongest attack, Damned Punk has a very visible 07 on the side, we're shown it several times. When the SH crew reaches Egghead VP explains there are six punks on the island. This seems to indicate there may be more in the world.

The Sea Beast Weapons seem to confirm this, as there are 8 of them. It appears they mirror Vegapunk and his Satellites, but this leaves us with one extra who just happens to look like Kid. It's also worth noting that "Kid's" sea beast is the only one not wearing the eye mask.

With Elbaph unfolding currently, we are seeing a lot of devil imagery. This makes the religious symbolism in Kid's creations all the more fascinating, because they are full of it. The most obvious is the backing of Punk Rotten, which is very clearly matching the cross of Nika.

The skulls of PR and Corna Dio also have spiked halos. For someone who is seen as a monster, Kid certainly uses a lot of heavenly imagery. Will this play a part in the devilish saga currently in play?

Something I just noticed that may or may not be related is that Wire's outfit is different in Elbaph. It reminds me of Renaissance Madonna images. Again, this one may just be coincidence but... It also might not be.

The last point I want to make is that of the Horned God. Punk Corna Dio is based on the heavy metal hand gesture started by artist Dio, but also can be interpreted as Horned God. He could have called it something like Toro Dio, but he didn't.

This isn't the first time we see horned skulls, since both Road and one of the Holy Knights wear them. And then we have Chopper, who turns into a massive horned being. The concept of the Horned God seems to be one we see throughout the series.

Kaido and the Ancient Giants are also horned beings, and now we are seeing horned devils as well. It's interesting to me that the only other Sea Beast weapon to resemble another character just happens to be Chopper, and it's shown next to "Kid".

While Kid's fate is currently unknown, it seems Luffy has taken his fashion decisions from him, going with the belted leather kilt and red feathered coat. Luffy tends to mimic others, so could it be a nod to someone who helped him in Wano?

Additional thoughts: Nika/Joyboy connected to not only liberation but laughter, and now because of Killer's Smile the crew has chosen to laugh along with him. Will they be free of the false happiness forced by the false DFs one day?

Or has Killer found a way to overcome it already? Regardless of circumstance or emotion, he shouldn't be able to *not* smile, as we saw with the people of Wano at Yasui's execution. Yet we see here that he's not. There's a reason we're shown this brief scene.

Finally, we see Demalo Black and co. cosplaying Kid. This means we'll see a confrontation eventually, as in Sabaody. I think Cross Guild may play into freeing the false crew. Funny that Black disparages Joyboy when we see that Kid may be a Nika disciple.

There's a lot of little details about Kid, and individually you might chalk them up to coincidence. But taken together, they really start to add up. His role isn't finished yet, and I believe we'll see him again soon in Elbaph.

Bainus: Himiko doesn't know how she got here, but she see's smoke and bodies and flames. As she walks down the street, she hears voices that she can't quite make out.

She stops just before an alley way, everything about it is telling her to run away. Even 'The Force' that Izuku was helping her train in was warning her against going forward.

Ignoring those feelings, Himiko walks into the alley. After what seems like an eternity, she sees a flash of red. Gold sparks appear a moment later.

Chasing after the crimson glow, Himiko stops at the scene she comes across. What looks like a robot is on the ground, red oil spilling out from under it. Against a wall is what looks like a scarecrow, limp and unable to move.

Just ahead of her, was Izuku. Fighting against a shadowed figure that also wields two swords, same as her friend. Izuku was obviously the superior swordsman, his trust in The Force helping guide him against the older man.

The unknown assailant then performed a move none of them were expecting, he threw his sword at the downed robot. As Izuku turned around, his shorter 'Lightsaber' held backwards as he extended his arm to catch the thrown blade, the shadowed mans other one speared through her friends stomach.

Himiko screamed in horror as Izuku fell limp, shock visible in his expression.

As the world faded, she could hear the killers words: All for a more just society.

Himiko wakes up screaming, the walls of her room fractured as Izuku holds out his hands to contain her fear induced shockwaves.

HOLD THE HENRY HOTLINES BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING—hopefully no one thought of this before.

Now before I was under the pretense that perhaps the 2 brothers who found the Finding Frankie IP before they sold it off were perhaps Real and Monster Frankie. But may I suggest something else?

Okay so in finding Frankie there is implications there IS something so much bigger going on. Henry references higher-ups and potentially them being the ones to do him in (which is possible they DID do him in and were the ones to make his head pop). But the fact that there is people going beyond Real Frankie obviously means there is some unseen force pulling strings here and it's not just Real Frankie. I don't think it makes sense for Real and Monster Frankie to be the brothers considering ya know, they sold the IP and now there's higher-ups meaning they aren't in control and have like no control over the gameshow. So why would they be the mascots? Simple, PERHAPS THEY'RE NOT! (Also the 2 brothers being the 2 Frankie theory ignores the secret room where we find all the mascots on charge so like.... Pretty sure all the mascots are just robots with Monster Frankie specifically being just some sadistic killer animatronic)

ANYWAYS! One thing I don't see people notice or overlook is in the cinematic our character WANTED to be a contestant because they not only went through several boxes to get the VHS but also have a sticker on their VHS player like they're some big fan...

(also real quick HC: I think our character is diabetic because out of 769 boxes he did apparently eat an unknown amount yet it's at least enough to need MULTIPLE BOWLS. Like you can reuse bowls, he has probably eaten nothing but this lucky charms type cereal with marshmallows for who knows how long, I think he's diabetic and has dental issues y'all.)

Anyways: it's clear by the dedication to buy all these boxes, each costing 3.99 plus tax, and the little sticker detail that our player character is a fan. A big fan at that. I bring this up because in another secret room you can find a lease for an apartment with some peculiar text on it

What if our character is one of the original brothers and the one who sold the IP, after all we do live IN AN APARTMENT we see we are located on one of the upper floors in an apartment building during the end game cutscene after all. This could be a BATIM situation where our player character who seems to have some deep WANT to be a contestant is actually one of the people who made Finding Frankie and this is his big return to what the show became after he sold the IP. Maybe the red text and lease is after he sold the IP, he got enough money to buy an apartment for himself and the red text saying "everything changes" is him distancing himself from the IP.

Now that's all I can make with just the evidence given however I also have a small theory. Maybe a falling out happened between our character who is possibly one of the original IP owners and his brother, thus we live alone and the red text was our character leaving our brother and is excited that everything is set up and done and we can leave behind the IP only to inevitably come back for some unknown reason. What is that reason? Idk perhaps something with our brother, we don't know for sure though and that's all I got.

Anyways this is just a theory, A GA—.... Oh fuck that's taken already.... Uhh– A game TOON THEORY!

Hello♥️ I was wondering What is your opinion or feelings on the new Killers? For example these four: The Unknown, the Singularity, the Lich/Vecna, The Dark Lord/Dracula??

I know it's been a hot minute since I've been on Dead by Daylight (almost two years I think). And so a lot of new faces have hit the list since then. I've definitely seen game play of all of them and read some of the lore. Here are my opinions so far- oh, I added Chucky if that was okay.

The Singularity

I'm all for robots, but this thing actually gives me the chills. I read it's backstory and stuff a while back and it's definitely an awesome character. Fanfiction wise, I would not write the Singularity romantically. I don't think it particularly likes humans either. If I were to write it in a story, I would either write it as a protector who grows new feelings towards a reader, or I would write it as a dangerous obstacle/problem like I did the Dredge in My Saddest Journey.

The Unknown

Very interesting character. Not sleep paralysis inducing at all! I have not been able to read the backstory or lore on this character yet, but I think it's pretty cool. I would not write it romantically, though, simply because of their childish personality. Friendship wise, I think they'd be great to pair up with a reader. The Unknown is someone who I see being a good friend and very protective, especially if the reader is nice and understanding towards them. Emotional support slasher for sure!

Vecna

Once again, I haven't been able to read lore about this character yet. I don't know his reason for being evil. But, what I can say is that he gives me the same vibes Pinhead and Pyramid Head do; an overpowered, magical monster capable of great pain and destruction and only has mercy towards certain humans that he deems worthy. I would write him romantically. I think he'd make a good ace partner as well. One-hundred percent an emotional supporter. I can already taste the angst he'll generate.

Dracula

Seven feet tall, despises humans and feeds off their blood, turns into a wolf and bat, and has phenomenal powers? ANGST. Can you taste it? Can you taste the angst this vampire is going to cause? Imagine a traumatized reader absolutely terrified but in need of help, and his lifeless heart is kind enough to try and support them. I would write him romantically. He'd be a good ace partner as well. But ohhhhhhhh, the angst! I'm totally writing him as a cat to stalk the reader to learn more about them- call me weird, it's literally my name!

Chucky

Is it a sex toy? Kidding. I love Chucky. I wouldn't write him romantically, but I think it would be fun to pair him up platonically with a reader. And, I might sound really crazy here, but I see him being as kind of a father figure as well. Imagine him helping a traumatized reader and other killers try coming around or displaying romantic interests? He'd slice them up immediately. Chucky also has unique elements that would be fun to meddle with. Emotional support slasher any day!

Drones on cybertron were never seen as real people. In reality they are shadow play and empurata bots.

In my au the very act of empurata is turning someone into a drone. So drones aren’t lucid, but they could be. With a couple of risky procedures the effects of shadow play can be mended, with still some permanent damage to past memories and the mind. Both Shockwave and Whirl are now lucid. It’s unknown who woke Shockwave up, but he made whirl lucid by using the same procedure. Sometimes it doesn’t work and the empurata bot just dies.

So there is no difference really…

“Where are we going?” you asked, grinning as the Doctor darted around the TARDIS console, pulling levers and flicking switches with her usual infectious enthusiasm.

Her eyes gleamed, and she looked over her shoulder at you with that cheeky, almost mischievous smile she loved to flash when she had something special planned. “Ah, that’s a secret! Can’t go spoiling the surprise, can I?”

You crossed your arms, pretending to be skeptical, but you couldn’t hide your own smile. “Every time you say it’s a surprise, I end up knee-deep in some intergalactic mess or running from killer robots.”

“Not this time,” she said, finally pulling one last lever that sent the TARDIS into motion with its familiar, comforting whoosh. “This time, it’s going to be fun. Promise. No robots, no death traps, no killer plants. Just… fun.”

“Uh-huh, sure,” you replied, amused. But the excitement bubbling in your chest was undeniable. Adventures with the Doctor were always unpredictable, but they had a way of making the universe feel impossibly wide and full of wonder. And whenever she hinted at something “special,” it always felt like a gift meant just for you.

The TARDIS came to a gentle stop, and the Doctor bounded over to the door, practically vibrating with excitement. “Come on then! You’re going to love this.”

You followed her to the threshold, the hum of the TARDIS fading behind you as you stepped outside into the unknown. The moment your feet hit the ground, your breath caught in your throat.

Before you stretched a sprawling alien city, shimmering in the golden light of twin suns. Buildings, tall and curved like glass spires, dotted the landscape, glowing softly in hues of turquoise and silver. But what really took your breath away was the sky above. Hundreds of thousands of lights dotted the heavens, not stars, but floating lanterns—each one casting a soft, ethereal glow.

It was beautiful.

“Doctor…” you whispered, glancing at her in awe. “What is this place?”

“Welcome to Tellurine,” she said, stepping beside you, hands in her pockets as she took in the view herself. “Home to the Festival of Lights. Happens once every twenty years. Lanterns in the sky, music in the streets… all in celebration of their twin suns aligning in the sky. Thought you might like it.”

You turned to face her, heart swelling with emotion. “I… I don’t even know what to say. It’s perfect.”

Her face softened, and she reached for your hand, intertwining her fingers with yours. “It’s just getting started. Come on, there’s more.”

She led you down the cobblestone streets, and as you got closer to the heart of the city, the vibrant energy of the festival became palpable. Music filled the air—an alien melody that was both unfamiliar and beautiful, echoing through the air like a lullaby of another world. People, dressed in flowing, colorful garments, danced in the streets, their movements slow and graceful, as though in sync with the celestial lights above.

Vendors lined the roads, selling all sorts of strange and wonderful foods. You stopped by a stall where a woman offered you a glowing, fruit-like treat that tasted like sweet, fizzy lemonade mixed with honey.

The Doctor smiled as you took a bite, clearly delighted by your reaction. “Good, isn’t it?”

You nodded, savoring the taste, and glanced back up at the lanterns floating in the sky. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this. It’s magical.”

“Thought you deserved a bit of magic,” she said, her voice softer now, more intimate.

Your heart fluttered at the warmth in her gaze. It wasn’t often that she slowed down enough to let moments like this sink in. The Doctor was always moving, always a flurry of energy and ideas. But right now, she was still, focused entirely on you, as if this moment mattered as much to her as it did to you.

As the sun began to set, the lanterns’ glow intensified, casting the city in a soft, golden light. Music swelled in the streets, and before you knew it, people were dancing around you, couples spinning in graceful circles, hands held tightly as they moved to the beat.

The Doctor turned to you, offering her hand again, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. “Fancy a dance?”

You blinked, caught off guard. “You? Dance?”

“Oh, I’ve got moves!” she said, twirling around once, her coat flaring behind her. “Come on, it’s not every day we’re at an alien festival, is it?”

Laughing, you took her hand, letting her pull you into the flow of the crowd. At first, it was awkward, the two of you stumbling slightly as you tried to mimic the graceful movements of the others. But soon, the awkwardness faded, replaced by the sheer joy of being together in such a beautiful place.

The Doctor’s hand was warm in yours, her laughter infectious as she spun you around, pulling you close and then twirling you back out again. The lanterns above danced with you, their soft light casting a golden glow over her face.

For a moment, everything else fell away. There was no danger, no running, no saving the world. Just you and her, dancing beneath an alien sky, wrapped in the warmth of the festival.

As the music slowed, the Doctor pulled you close again, her arms wrapping around your waist. You rested your head against her chest, listening to the rhythm of her hearts as they beat in time with the music.

“I think I could stay here forever,” you murmured, your breath warm against her coat.

The Doctor smiled, her voice soft and full of affection as she whispered, “Maybe not forever. But for now… yeah. We can stay as long as you like.”

You tilted your head up to look at her, and for a moment, the world seemed to stop. Her eyes were bright, reflecting the light of the lanterns, and there was something so tender, so real in the way she gazed at you.

Before you could second-guess yourself, you leaned in, pressing your lips to hers in a gentle, sweet kiss. The Doctor hesitated for only a heartbeat before she melted into it, her hand gently cupping your face as she kissed you back.

The universe around you disappeared, leaving only the warmth of her lips on yours, the steady rhythm of her hearts, and the quiet hum of the lanterns above.

When you finally pulled back, breathless and smiling, she rested her forehead against yours, her voice barely above a whisper. “Told you it’d be fun.”

You laughed softly, your heart full to bursting. “Yeah, you did.”

And in that moment, under the glow of alien lights and the soft hum of distant music, you knew that this—her, the adventure, the wonder—was exactly where you belonged.

The Houndmaster

Snug senses the creature first. He stops in his tracks and tilts his head. Portia turned around the second the paws against the ground stops making the familiar scratching sound. She looks around, an empty dark forest just like the kind the Entity seems fond of, nothing but bushes, trees, and moonlight.

“Wha’s matter, boy?” She asked, in the same manner she would a crew mate. Snug barked, flashed a look at Portia and then again his gaze returned to the bush. “You see somethin’?”

Snug gave a single bark, a usual indicator of yes but it wasn’t the same as usual. Normally he gave a proud, forceful bark or a low growl if it was necessary not to be heard. This time it was a little high pitched and unsure.

“What e’er you are, get your hide out here!” Portia yelled as she slammed her cane down. It was rare that anything unsettled Snug, and she and damned if she was going to let whatever beast it was get away with it. Before she could approach the dark space she heard a strange noise, like wet meat rubbing against each other, and a twisted, deformed head on top of an oversized, stretched out neck appeared above the bush.

Snug let out a distressed confused bark and took a few steps back, Portia raised her cane in the direction of the new beast.

“I don’t know what in God’s name you are, but touch my boy and I’ll turn your mutant flesh into stew,” Portia growled, standing tall to appear as big and dominating as people.

“Dog play fetch?” The creature asked, its voice warped and almost strangely robotic.

The Blight

From the desk of Talbot Grimes. A crimson leather bound book, the first page refers to it as a ‘Beastiary of the Fog” in Talbot’s own calligraphic writing. Two thirds of the way through is a sketch of a strange creature with long twisted limbs wearing the clothing of one of Talbot’s test subjects from before the fog took him.

The Changeling

Note: the other denizens of this realm call it ‘the Unknown’, I am not satisfied with this nomenclature and refer to it as a changeling.

Location: Sixteen steps left from the bleeding tree and twelve steps in the direction of the skeleton horses.

Date / Time: Day 1598 / Sixth hour

Height: Approximately seven feet

Weight: Unknown - long thin limbs, skeletal in appearance.

Witness statements: I have seen this creature only once upon leaving a trial and was uncertain as to whether it was a trick of the Entity or a creation of my serum. It dressed in the same ragged attire as one of my test subjects - one of my servants who had been with me for years who I no longer had a use for. It seemed as if a being was attempting to replicate a human only the creature had too many bones and nothing in their body was quite the right size. Its skin was too loose and too tight at the same time. When it moved it seemed more like a scorpion or an adult who was learning to walk for the first time.

It approached me to my surprise, I expected it to be an illusion of the Entity. It came close enough for me to touch it, the twisted neck towering over me. I reached out and pressed my index and middle finger into its neck to see if it had any pulse. It did and it didn’t, it did not have a human heartbeat, or a pulse one would find from a mammal at all. It was instead a continuous vibration that pulsed through my arm. When I pulled away, flakes of the creature’s skin stuck to me. That was when it spoke, fractured words that I could barely make out. I think it was greeting me, or perhaps telling me it was lost, I am unsure. More investigation needed.

The Ghoul

Kaneki had been generally underwhelmed by everything the Entity gave him. It seemed like a fitting punishment, he would be trapped in this hell where he could feed but only on this group of people who must have individually committed sins that meant they were in the same hell he was. As such, the rest of the world population were safe from him, it seemed quite an elegant solution. He was not particularly surprised by the others and the way their bodies had been deformed, he assumed they were ghouls at first - but when he discovered they weren’t he supposed it made sense other horrific creatures existed.

The only thing that surprised him was the strange, scuttling creature that had followed him around for the first few days in this realm. It was like a spider in the way it moved, but on its back, and the way it spoke was so strained and disconnected. In fact Kaneki wondered if the Entiry had given it the ability to use human speech recently, it felt so alien to the creature. At first the poor thing hadn’t let Kaneki speak to it. Whenever he turned to look or talk it scuttled away, so fast that it was only the sound that told Kaneki where it had gone. Eventually, he took it by surprise, he’d laid down on the ground in the forest after a trial, his eyes closed and blood covering his front. He opened them to see the creature leaning over him. Kaneki gave an exhausted smile and tilted his head as he looked up at him.

“I’m Kaneki Ken. Who- or what are you?”

“I am… unknown. The Unknown. Name… cannot… Translate. Sounds… Like… Scream.”

“Maybe you’re a ghoul too, nice if there were two of us,” Kaneki joked. And for the first time he saw a sense of sheer joy fill its face.

Albert Wesker

Wesker did not scare easily, one could not be the pet of Oswell Spencer and have a faint heart. However, when Wesker awoke that morning in the home the Entity had so gracefully given him, he could not help but feel fear. He squinted up at it and didn’t speak or act for a moment as its large, bloody teeth hung inches away from Wesker’s face. The worst part was that from his position it seemed to be entirely a head and neck, as if was a snake like creature. Despite the strange mutated flesh however it seemed humanoid in its face and expressions.

“Do… You… Want to play… A game?” The thing asked, Wesker shifted to the other side of the bed, turning on his side to get a better look at the creature.

“What the hell are you and why are you here?” Wesker snarled, he felt uncomfortable without his sunglasses on but didn’t want to be vulnerable to the monstrosity before him. He reached out and pawed at his bedside table managing to switch his lamp on and grab his sunglasses, slipping them on his face and feeling instantly calmed.

“Can you help me?” It repeated, its voice sounding distorted and strangled. Before Wesker could say a word the beast before him collapsed into a wet pile of flesh on his bed. It looked like someone had managed to deflate a creature like a balloon. What shocked him the most however was that it was now stood by his bedroom door, its head tilted and looking at him expectantly. The anxiety calmed instantly as he watched its movements carefully. He sat up with an almost manic grin spreading on his face.

“No. But you can certainly help me,” Wesker replied smoothly.

I'm not that big on X-Men lore, but I've got some thoughts from the snippets of media I've consumed

I feel like the concept of the X-Men goes way beyond just a racism allegory. Mutants, in a way, represent the fear of the unknown, unpredictable, and uncontrollable. While discrimination against them is obviously wrong, it’s not always rooted in blind hate; sometimes, it’s genuine fear. Mutants can randomly develop dangerous powers they can’t control, like that one comic with the kid who accidentally kills people just by existing, so it makes sense why regular people might be terrified even though it's not the fault of the mutants at all. The randomness of mutation means anyone could wake up one day with god-like powers or a body that’s suddenly see-through, and the society in the Marvel Universe has no system in place to manage that besides Xavier's School. The tragedy is that instead of working with mutants to build understanding, cooperation, and systems that could potentially stop any catastrophic events from happening, the humans let fear rule, leading to killer robots (The Sentinels) and mass persecution. It’s a complex issue of evolution, paranoia, and failure to choose cooperation over control.

By the national average, Lilja is a rather short woman who stands at around 166 cm tall. She is slim and athletic, with messy blonde hair, freckles scattered across her cheeks and nose, and eyes with partial heterochromia on both irises that are both blue and brown in color, which are easily distinguishable between the two. She is the one who usually wears heavy, long clothes that are uncomfortable when it comes to grabbing objects and that hide her body well. She wears glasses because she is astigmatic, which she removes to use contact lenses when she has to work in the field. more facts about her aspect: -Lilja has a lot of bite wounds on her body, done of course by the dogs she worked in the past with most of them being reactive ones that easily snapped when something even small bothered them. Lilja is a reserved woman by nature, she doesn't like to talk to people too much and generally prefers to be alone. Sometimes she seems detached and lost in her thoughts, it almost seems like her brain is constantly working, constantly creating new thoughts. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as she always has new ideas that she can implement in the form of robotic objects useful to her team. She seems to prefer small speeches to long, deep ones, which is often not in good taste with other operators and those in command, but she often ignore the thoughts of others. This doesn't mean she's a totally insensitive person, she just doesn't know how to relate to people without seeming weird, which leads her to avoid social situations most of the time.

Hi i don't know much abt styx aside from general prog fandom osmosis but kwh has always intrigued me a little bit. Can you explain it in excruciating detail? (genuinely i'm not being sarcastic)

on february 22, 1983, styx released their eleventh studio album Kilroy Was Here. it was a concept album/rock opera though dennis deyoung likes to call it more of a "rock theatrical experience" in recent interviews. they even made a minifilm they played before the concert!!!! you can find it and the rest of caught in the act on youtube

it was made partially as a response to the rise of the satanic panic in the early-mid 1980s. people started to believe that rock music was evil and hiding satanic messages. the band was targeted by the public when they were accused in particular by the government of arkansas (i think?) of putting backwards messages (called backmasking) in their song Snowblind (the line "i try so hard to make it so" sounded like "satan moves through our voices" to some people. i own a copy of paradise theatre, that track in particular is damaged.).

and then dennis deyoung had a GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!

so basically the album follows a sort of loose and vague backstory that's somehow still solid enough for people to follow some sort of a plot in their head (which is slightly backed up by Caught In The Act, the designated KWH "concert," which i'll get to in a second). the basic synopsis (paraphrased but still in excruciating detail) is as such:

set in a futuristic chicago(?) rock and roll has been made illegal under code 672 (prohibits the playing and purveying of rock music). Dr. Everett Righteous (played by JY), who was responsible for this, is the leader of the majority for musical morality or the MMM for short. the MMM is one of the strongest organizations in this universe since you know. they literally convinced congress to criminalize an entire genre of music for the entire country. righteous also hosts a television show where he encourages the public to burn guitars and records in a huge bonfire during “nightly rallies”. he also projects himself onto a big triangle over the skyline which i think is fucking hilarious i haven’t been able to get over it

Robert Orin Charles Kilroy (played by Dennis DeYoung, of course he's the title character), was a prolific rock musician at the time of the ban. he was thrown in prison for breaking the law and after being framed of murder. they accused him of bashing an MMM crusader's head in (which he obviously didn't do) after they raided one of his concerts at the paradise theatre. he then goes to rot in prison and is subjected to attempts of brainwashing by the dr. righteous show with the other “rock n’ roll misfits” they’ve arrested. it doesn’t work lol. i don't understand how it would work BECAUSE IT'S NEVER EXPLAINED

the prison kilroy is rotting in is maintained/monitored by japanese import, mass produced robots dubbed the "robotos," hence the title track. ignore how racist they look, it was 1983, this is not my fault

i mildly dislike them but it sucks how they’re essential to the plot ANYWAYS

here comes Jonathan Chance, (played by Tommy Shaw, albeit reluctantly) who is a rebel that is part of a underground resistance (that's only really mentioned once). with his friend, he breaks into some unknown area that is most likely a recording studio and hijacks the live television recording of the dr. righteous show. he proceeds to namedrop himself and then run off

kilroy sees this happen, which inspires him to attempt to escape the prison. kilroy incapacitates a roboto that visits his prison cell and disguises himself as it so he can escape without being noticed (i do not like the way he does this)

after kilroy escapes, he goes throughout the city and leaves messages for jonathan, leading him back to the paradise theater which is now the Dr. Righteous Museum for Rock Pathology

it's got a bunch of shitty animatronics that include people like jimi hendrix and elvis presley, but at the very back is an animatronic of kilroy repeatedly bashing in someone's head

this is my favorite part of the minifilm which i've basically explained sorry. you see like what you think is another roboto emerge from the shadows, and then it takes off its mask AND IT'S THE ACTUAL KILROY!!!

and then dennis deyoung prances around and has his little pick me theater main character moment and sings mr. roboto and dances and stuff it looks so stupid. the live version of mr. roboto is way funnier than the official music video i don't know. i posted it about here before but i love this part in particular

so that's how kilroy and jonathan meet and that's basically the plot of one of styx's most popular songs!! sorry i gave kind of a play by play of the minifilm

now here's the fun part !!!! (unfinished lore/controversy)

unfortunately the reception of this album was less than satisfactory for most people back in '83, since KWH was way far away from the brand that styx had made for themselves in the 70s. they made art rock and prog, but this was just straight up synthpop. some people liked it though. i read somewhere in an article that it "alienated their male audience" and honestly if you're alienated by a little bit of gay pick me theater bs from your favorite band, that's a you problem

caught in the act was the designated "kilroy concert" that styx did sometime in 1983. the concert, however, doesn't give any. depth. to any additional explanations of multiple plot holes present in the story. as much as i love and cherish dennis deyoung he didn't do a very good job at writing this.

caught in the act felt more like a compromise than a show, seeing as the banter after the performance of mr. roboto was very bare? kilroy explains to jonathan that he was framed for murder, and then he goes in depth on the night it happened. "the crowd was totally psyched," he says, and then it goes to JY performing a guitar solo, which leads into the rest of the concert. the entire concert was portrayed as a flashback and gives no real backstory to any of the established characters. and then at the tail end of the concert they get "raided" by the MMM and you watch as an MMM officer murders one of righteous' own followers with kilroy's guitar. they cut back to kilroy and jonathan, they sing haven't we been before, and then kilroy hands jonathan this sick ass glowing guitar, then they perform the world's worst finale. the dance party ending of caught in the act. it sucks. it's horrible. i hate it. also there is no dennis deyoung in the kilroy was here universe lmfao

i'm still grateful for the concert though don't get me wrong!!! amazing concert

if the rest of styx didn't want to rip dennis deyoung apart for making them do this (i recently learned from a manager that DDY made them turn down an opportunity to perform at one of the largest concerts of the 80s, because he was like "but muh kilroy"), i believe songs off the album like High Time and Double Life would have been performed at Caught in the Act. both extremely lore-heavy songs, especially double life. i really wish they played double life. but c'est la vie, i guess.

literally everyone in the band hated dennis' guts so much while they were making this (justified, he was a stubborn asshole during production) but god was it worth it. for me at least. i imagine one of the conversations about production went like

JY: dennis have you considered that maybe this is a bad idea Dennis: i'm gonna make you the villain of the story if you don't shut the FUCK UP

i still think that JY had a little bit of fun though. he was hamming it tf up as dr. righteous i'm sorry you need to watch the mv's which you can find on youtube as well

but unfortunately tommy shaw wasn't having a good time at all, he literally quit on stage and stormed off and styx split for a while bc of this album i mean LOOK AT HIM HE'S SO PISSED OFF

overall this album is both cheese AND corn, worst album i've ever listened to, and yet it's given me a purpose in life. i've written 7,000+ words in one document about this album just to try and fill in the blanks the lore has, it's got so many. it's a running joke on this blog, i really hope you check out the album, because i think it's wonderful and it's endearing regardless of the controversy, it's too late for me. save yourself
