I got my first V rank on the literal last dungeon of the game. Turns out having a boss rush adds more opportunities to increase the Combo and Support score.

Experience the Excitement of Turbo Sliders Unlimited: A Classic Racing Title with a Modern Twist
Tumblr media
Turbo Sliders Unlimited driving game with 3D features is due to get a full release on Linux, Steam Deck, and Windows PC. All credit goes to the creative genius of developer Antti Mannisto. Making its way out of Steam Early Access, along with 92% Very Positive reviews. Turbo Sliders Unlimited is gearing up for its full release on September 12th, and if you’re a fan of classic racing titles with a modern twist, you’re in luck. After spending over two years in Early Access and racking up 92.5% positive reviews on Steam, this title is finally ready to make its mark. So, what makes Turbo Sliders Unlimited stand out? Imagine the top-down driving title you liked as a kid, but with a full 3D makeover and loads of online features. Whether you’re into casual fun with friends or want to dive into serious competition, this title has something for everyone. Plus, it’s got some killer sandbox elements that let you get creative. Doing so with level design, vehicles, AI players, and even your own modes. These modes are where Turbo Sliders Unlimited really shines. Sure, you’ve got your traditional racing and hotlapping, but it doesn’t stop there. How about parkour driving, sumo battles, or even car soccer? You can also dive into tag, capture the flag, team weapon battles, and so much more. And the best part? All of these modes support online play with up to 20 players. You can even host your own custom games, tweaking everything from the levels to the vehicles.

For those who prefer to play solo, there’s plenty to keep you busy in Turbo Sliders Unlimited. You can take on the Time Trials campaign, racing against the clock or leaderboard ghosts to unlock new events. Or, you can challenge AI players in the Race Challenges campaign. If that’s not enough, you can dive into player-made campaigns or create your own and share them with the community. Local multiplayer is a blast too. Grab some friends, because you can play with up to 4 players in split-screen mode. And if you’re feeling competitive, you can jump into online multiplayer together. One of the coolest features of Turbo Sliders Unlimited is its in-game editors. Whether you’re into creating custom levels, vehicles, or even AI player groups, the tools are right there at your fingertips. You can share your creations via Steam Workshop or let others download them automatically in online games. Customization is another big win. You can tweak your vehicle’s looks, from colors to paint jobs, and even buy packs that unlock new options. Plus, with the variety of camera angles and recording options, you can capture your best (and worst) moments in style. Turbo Sliders Unlimited is ready for a full release on Steam. Plus support for PC, Linux, and Steam Deck, all for just $14.99 USD / £12.79 / 14,99€. Whether you’re looking to relive the glory days of top-down racing or try something new with friends, this title is ready to deliver. So buckle up, get your engines ready, and let’s hit the track on Linux, Steam Deck, and Windows PC.

Hey come read up on some Steam Next Fest games I tried out
I do genuinely like Next fest, it's nice to see a bunch of indie stuff put front and center for awhile and try out all the fun demos. Naturally, I gave some a spin, here are some thoughts.
Virtua Unlimited Project is very much a love letter to the Mega Man Zero series. The translation leaves much to be desired, which is a shame because I feel like it's going to turn a lot of people away from what is otherwise one of the best-feeling Zero-likes to date. You got your dash, your wall hope, a buster and a sword, but added into the mix are a neat drop kick you can use to bound off enemies. Also gaining a boss's EX weapon regardless of your rank, something the Zero series really could've benefited from. The overall moveset, as a result, leads itself into a ton of neat, fun, and tight interactions in the moment-to-moment. No really, I can't say it enough. Even Gunvolt's physics didn't feel this much like playing Mega Man Zero again. It's clear the devs really loved that game and did their utmost to recapture the essential feeling of it all.
Pepper Grinder - It's what I've come to expect from Devolver-backed games at this point. A nice, single-minded experience that tries to get the most out of an idea. I'm a big fan of the Wario Land games, so I really love moving about and ransacking the stage to get all of Pepper's treasure back. That's great, top-tier motivation for a little drill gremlin girl. The earth-swimming with your drill really toes the line between chaotic and controlled. A sweet spot that asks you for mastery, I think. It's a lot of fun, I love when a game is super intent on getting the most out of one mechanic.
Umbra Claw - Hey remember when I mentioned Gunvolt up there? Inti Creates dragged me into their works with GV and Blaster Master Zero, but lately I feel all their frenetic action has become... Slow and clunky. Look, I broker no joy in being harsh on a creative work but our friend Kuon, the cat, feels so very off to control. I mean even with all of their powers in place, there's no real flow state like the other games where you're constantly moving and reading your foe. I don't feel feline fast at all and it's just kind of disheartening.
Toree Saturn - The bird is BACK(pack). They took Toree's run and gave him a butt slam that sends him careening forward. And for good measure added a homing attack. All of this comes together to make a barely-controllable bird that rockets through stages, gobbling up stars and flying high over pits. Really glad to see Toree return, I'm really a huge fan of these bite-sized 3D collectathons. Toree, Kiwi 64, Lunistice in particular is something of a comfort game. It's relaxing to be able to complete an entire little experience with nice movement in a few hours at the end of the day.
Death of a Wish - Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream. Play Lucah: Born of a Dream.
(I am so FUCKING normal about Born of a Dream and Death of a Wish. Born of a Dream obsessed me until I got every single achievement, and Death of a Wish, the sequel, plays just like Lucah but with enough tweaks to give combat a whole new feel. I love the new character portraits for everyone and the scratchy, sketchy style that permeates everything. I love the consistent battle against guilt to find your own expression. I fucking love fighting off the Nightmares that seek to drag you down, becoming better than this burdensome fate bestowed to you.)
Geometry Survivor - Looks like they made Geometry Wars into a VS clone. Neat. I guess I can argue all day whether VS clones are hitting saturation but the answer is I don't really mind. I like a good 20-30 minute bullet heaven experience, it's really relaxing. And more just means there's an aesthetic out there for me. This was... not that, but I don't think it's the game's fault. I ran into a graphical glitch that spun a neon-magenta polygon across the entire screen at incredible speeds and immediately vomited. I am... Very highly photosensitive. Like severely, so that hard-stopped me. But I implore anyone who likes VS to give it a go.
Shield Knight - I just... Kinda wasn't feeling this one I think. It seems to involve a lot of waiting to get the one type of attack you can parry to spawn. Also the colors are a little too desaturated for me to personally keep track of easily. Light sources tend to blend things so I tend to need contrast. I love the core idea, a knight who can only parry, but it needs just a touch more oomph in what can be turned back at your foes. There's probably a powerup somewhere to do just that, and I might go back to see.
The Land Beneath Us - Radical. It's a roguelike in a truer sense of the word, with turn-based movement on a grid. This one is much more in line with space-dancing, though. You can see the enemies' attacks at all times, and you're expected to be out of the way before they land true. If you're like me you probably find standing still, repeated tapping into an enemy to be a huge grind, but here it's more a matter of managing your position. Each turn is a little puzzle, and that's without getting into its main element. You may assign one weapon to each cardinal direction. You must do so, even, and then it's just.. there. You have to come up with a build and think sincerely about how to arrange it and approach enemies. It's great, anything that can keep me thinking and on my toes is a win in my book, ever since Necrodancer.
Alright that's it, go play some video game demos.

!Important Warning!
These Days some Mods containing Malware have been uploaded on various Sites.
The Sims After Dark Discord Server has posted the following Info regarding the Issue:
+++
Malware Update: What We Know Now To recap, here are the mods we know for sure were affected by the recent malware outbreak: "Cult Mod v2" uploaded to ModTheSims by PimpMySims (impostor account) "Social Events - Unlimited Time" uploaded to CurseForge by MySims4 (single-use account) "Weather and Forecast Cheat Menu" uploaded to The Sims Resource by MSQSIMS (hacked, real account) "Seasons Cheats Menu" uploaded to The Sims Resource by MSQSIMS (hacked, real account)
Due to this malware using an exe file, we believe that anyone using a Mac or Linux device is completely unaffected by this.
If the exe file was downloaded and executed on your Windows device, it has likely stolen a vast amount of your data and saved passwords from your operating system, your internet browser (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Firefox, and more all affected), Discord, Steam, Telegram, and certain crypto wallets. Thank you to anadius for decompiling the exe.
To quickly check if you have been compromised, press Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run window. Enter %AppData%/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/UserData in the prompt and hit OK. This will open up the folder the malware was using. If there is a file in this folder called Updater.exe, you have unfortunately fallen victim to the malware. We are unware at this time if the malware has any function which would delete the file at a later time to cover its tracks.
To quickly remove the malware from your computer, Overwolf has put together a cleaner program to deal with it. This program should work even if you downloaded the malware outside of CurseForge. Download SimsVirusCleaner.exe from their github page linked here and run it. Once it has finished, it will give you an output about whether any files have been removed.
+++
For more Information please check the Sims After Dark Server News Channel! Or here https://scarletsrealm.com/malware-mod-information/
TwistedMexi made a Mod to help detect & block such Mods in the Future: https://www.patreon.com/posts/98126153
CurseForge took actions and added mechanics to prevent such Files to be uploaded, so downloading there should be safe.
In general be careful, where and what you download, and do not download my Mods at any other Places than my own Sites and my CurseForge Page.

in case anyone needs to hear this after ffxiv took home 2 more awards and is currently the first thing you see when you open the Steam recap page for the game awards along with a big flashy “Buy Now” with a seemingly cheap $19.99 price tag...
DON’T DO IT.
steam will charge you out the wazoo and deny you the famous free trial (which really genuinely is that good), so DON’T let steam trick you out of unlimited play time up to level 60 and the award winning expac heavensward!!! instead go here:
https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/na/
and follow their instructions to get yourself set up with their own game client. i cannot stress enough, doing it this way gives you FREE play time until you finish heavensward which is hours upon hours of content.

Aaron making hot chocolate for his little girl 😭😭😭😭 she only wants his and can tell if someone else has made it, and flat out REFUSES to drink it. Reader calls Aaron on the phone during a case and all he can hear is his daughter crying in the background and reader is like “wtf do you put in this hot chocolate??? Coke???????” because reader just cannot get it right despite Aaron walking them through the process of his hot chocolate before 😭 maybe Aaron talks on the phone with daughter for a bit to calm her down and the promise of unlimited hot chocolate once he comes home AHHHHHHH
dad's way
please 😭 and the way i literally had a hot cocoa candle burning as i worked on this cw; fem!reader, food descriptions, brief picky eater talk, girl dad!aaron <333333
"hi sweetheart-"
the shriek on the other end immediately caused him to hold his phone an inch or two away. it was piercing and loud, even for his bad ear.
concern had already swarmed his chest before the cry had ceased, and the room suddenly felt a bit hotter. "honey? is everything alright?"
there was a brief rustling sound, a small clattering of what he assumed was dishes, the close of a cabinet following after. "how do you make your hot chocolate?"
"why-"
"how, do you make your hot chocolate." you interrupted him, your voice distancing a bit for a moment, "dada's on the phone, it's okay."
"oh." aaron chuckled softly as realization hit, his voice filled with a tinge of pity. "someone's upset."
"tell me about it." you sighed in defeat, exasperation clear. "apparently, whatever i make isn't good enough. i've given her three different cups already. three. well, given the third was a reattempt of number one. but with whipped cream and sprinkles. jack too tried to persuade her, but nope. it's daddy's hot chocolate and daddy's hot chocolate only."
"is it in the right mug?"
"the one with all the little ladybugs? yup."
"okay," aaron quickly excused himself - he was still sat amongst the rest of the team, who were silently digging through records - jj shot him a sympathetic glance as he got up. he trailed down the short hallway outside the conference room, in search of a more secluded area to give instructions. "well, i usually-"
aaron walked you through it - steaming the milk, at just the right temperature. adding the cocoa mix, a little extra than the standard serving size. mini marshmallows, and the secret ingredient you had missed - adding a touch of vanilla extract. it was simple, really, but your daughter was a stickler.
she wasn't a picky eater, but was very adamant on how things were made or presented. for example, if two foods next to each other on a plate happened to merge - it was the end of the world. and when it came to aaron's hot chocolate, she couldn't get enough of it. she asked for it nightly, promptly right after dinner. she always insisted on sitting on the counter as aaron made it, watching intently and asking questions on what he was doing. it was their thing together. and more than likely, his absence was aiding to the current meltdown.
"here," aaron hears you say, your daughter's cries lessening for a moment. "this is dada's."
there was a moment's pause, and aaron could easily visualize your daughter analyzing the drink, her eyebrows furrowing in that hotchner way that was just genetic at this point - jack had it too. but as you both already anticipated, another wail produced in response.
"nooooo it's not!"
aaron heard you tiredly sigh, and he was quick to offer more assistance. "want me to talk to her?"
"please."
another shuffle came from your end of the phone, handing it to your daughter. there was a slightly louder sniffle, indicating she was close and listening.
"hi sweetheart," aaron softened his voice, his heartstrings tugging as he silently wished he was home, with you all, rather than a few states away. "what's the matter?"
another sharp sniffle. "i want your hot chocolate."
"i know bug," he consoled softly. again, his heart breaking at her small, upset voice. "but since i'm at work, mom's gonna have to make it for you."
she hesitated, bottom lip quivering. another small wail was quick to follow. "but i want yours."
"i know, but i told momma how i make it, so it'll taste exactly the same, i promise. she put all her love in it too, just like i do. which, do you wanna know a secret?"
that grabbed her attention, her cries stilling so fast it was almost humorous. "uh huh."
"that's the secret ingredient that makes it taste so good, whether mom or i make it. but you can't tell your brother that, okay? it'll be our secret."
"okay."
"so tonight, can you drink mom's hot chocolate? she worked really hard to make it special, just for you." she quieted, still unsure, so aaron switched tactics. "and when i get home, i'll make you two cups. with extra, extra marshmallows. how does that sound?"
