World Pasta Day!

Holy shit, I almost missed this!

Some pasta "facts":

pasta existed before civilization. there is intense debate within academic circles as to which ancient homo genus first introduced pasta into our lives, but i'm firmly convinced it was denisovans.

pasta comes in many forms. no one truly knows how many, as several are lost to history and others are being invented every day with the advent of modern technology.

it has been "proven" that the pyramid of khufu, aka the great pyramid of gaza, was "constructed" entire of "pasta."

pastaic intervention successfully prevented the outbreak of all the world wars before the first world war.

while quetzalcoatl is not a being made of entirely pasta, as early 20th century historians once thought, it is true that rigatoni was his/their meal of choice.

literally every minute of every day, someone in the world is eating delicious pasta. that's pretty neat.

what absolutely floors me is the way "Unknown (Nth)" is the song for Treachery, and yet is more about betraying ourselves rather than being betrayed. hozier says that, when the break-up happened, it felt as though his lover was chewing on his heart while it still beats, but he can only blame himself because entering a relationship is acknowledging the chance it may fail and still going through with it. AND THEN HE SAYS "i'd walk so far just to take the injury of finally knowing you" - meaning he would do it all again with the knowledge of failure because isn't that what he risked in the first place anyway? ,,,"Unknown (Nth)", the weapon that you are-

I find it really interesting that I rarely see pure First love. Like, most ppl who comment on his acting mention Khao in some way? At least, when commenting on his performance in FirstKhao-centric shows.

And I understand it's part of promoting as a pair and whatnot, but Khao seems to get a lot more kudos to his acting than first does? For example, I saw a comment on an Only Friends reaction regarding FirstKhao's amazing acting and chemistry. And I was expecting someone to reply agreeing and saying that they are both amazing actors, because they are, but instead they talked about Khao's ability to pull out amazing acting from anybody he works with, even the most ok actors. And I don't think they meant it like this, but couldn't it be read as kinda a diss on First? They didn't comment on his talent at all...

And ya'll, I am biased, so I am aware that anytime one has a "favorite" it seems like they don't get as much recognition. And that might just be what this is! But, I just feel that with as much recognition Khaotung gets for his acting (rightfully so, he's crazy talented), sometimes First just... seems to get the short end of the stick w/ compliments and recognition? He's an amazing actor in his own right and I just don't seem to see ppl say that very often!

Let me put the fuck into Fuck It Friday and share this snippet from the donation smut, which – though it still needs some heavy editing – I will try to post it this weekend (or the next, if time gets away from me).

“E-Eddie?”

“I’m here.” Eddie sounded stoic and restrained and Buck wondered if he was trying to hold back a laugh or a shout. “So you want me to talk you through your… donation?”

It was stupid. It was stupid. Oh, it was so so stupid.

“I uh yes. That’s e-exactly what— and I couldn’t call anyone else and I’m sorry, I know it’s too much and y-you don’t want to and I—”

“Woah Buck, relax. It’s okay.” Eddie cut his ramble off with the tone he usually reserved to placate panicking victims on more difficult calls.

Was Buck's complete distress that evident?

“It is?” He blinked slowly.

“Yeah it’s… yeah, I’ll do it.”

“T-thank you I— but Eddie?” Buck prompted quietly, waiting for an answer to make sure Eddie was really listening before he’d continue.

“Yeah?”

“No questions asked.” Buck said seriously, because he was pent up and suffering, but it was still not the time to tell Eddie about his not-so-much-a-crush-more-like-down-bad-head-over-heels-in-love kind of feelings, so it was better to keep this strictly on a technical level.

“No questions asked.” Eddie repeated back slowly and Buck released a breath he didn’t know he was holding. “Alright. So, how do you wanna do this?”

maybe the funniest and most telling/damning thing about the whole forced AI art horseshit is that of all the actual artists who might sensibly stand to benefit from it, or otherwise end up on the wrong side of this argument, the guys out there churning out boring unimaginative porn at a breakneck pace haven't adopted AI at all...

The guys who aren't particularly good artists. Don't have any unique artistic vision they're achieving or putting out into the world. The guys that live and die by their twitter post count. Churning out the same 3 poses and the same 1 bodytype with just a rotating assortment of topically popular cartoon/videogame characters... Those guys.

Not only did they not make the jump to AI generated porn. They didn't even incorporate AI into their workflow. Like, while I would not have been surprised if some of these guys had absolutely zero artistic integrity and put down their pen/stylus entirely, I also would have at least expected a good chunk of them to fall somewhere in the middle on this issue and embrace using AI to render their handdrawn lineart and increase the speed at which they produce their low quality art. Especially the ones who already have so much crap that they actually could train an AI learnset on their own work.

Yet such a hypothetical guy just straight up doesn't exist somehow. It's incredibly telling that the people verymuch at the bottom of the totempole of the artistic community at large don't seem to see any use for AI art.

Ahh okay so at this point I have to confess something terrible: I still have not seen the third Hobbit movie. I'm sorry! I just couldn't do it. The fuckery of it all, especially in the second movie with Mirkwood and Thranduil and Legolas ("a lowly Silvan elf" what the FUCK what the fuck PJ WHAT THE FUCK), was just too much for me. Character-assassination is one thing, and I thought after Denethor I knew what I was going to be getting with Thranduil but NOPE! It was literal world building assassination and I just CANNOT.

Don't get me wrong, Lee Pace did an amazing job and actually seeing Mirkwood was amazing and it was genuinely delightful to see Orlando put those ears on again; but the OuTrAgE that filled my heart at the yeet-ing of what minimal canon we even have for the Mirkwood elves was just intolerable, and while I did mean to go see it, really I did, I just...couldn't actually get the motivation to go before it was out of theatres. I've heard the EE are better (less studio fuckery) so I'll watch them someday! Honest! I just...haven't. yet.

And as to the Lord of the Rings trilogy...man, I don't even know how to do this. In terms of which is the best film, or in terms of which one I enjoy watching most, or in terms of which on hits me in the heart hardest or...? I don't know if I can objectively rank my feelings about these movies even in my own brain because RotK ends with Into the West and I have FeelingsTM about the Undying Lands and Sea Longing okay. So the last scene of RotK at the Grey Havens is a fucking spear through the heart every time and I can't even describe the knot of feelings it engenders, and I think overall TTT may be my favorite but also it has Plot Issues that piss me off even more than the Plot Issues in RotK I think,...yeah, we're going to do this in terms of Film Crafting rather than personal favorites because I'm having too many feelings lmao. honestly Al's Inferno had such a hilarious concept JDLAMX like. some Guy makes some bad decisions at a party and wakes up the next morning with the most debilitating diarrhoea known to man and then somehow being transported to a toilet-themed hell. the hell is complete with levels/circles ala dante's inferno. he has to do some weird shit to get himself out of there and eventually climbs into a toilet bowl to escape. quite literally toilet humour but it's still the funniest thing to me

had a fucking insane non sensical dream again it was new years themed and my parents were there, my brother was gonna celebrate with his friends but he dropped by to give us a (very important) transparent pumpkin to carve, I was really perplexed by this. then my friends and I decided to go see someone (the pope I think?) and the line was so long we hit midnight while queuing up. we put on a live stream of Dan and Phil and Louise carving a pumpkin (not transparent) and dnp were so flirty it was uncomfortable and Phil was bleach blond. there's other details but I'm forgetting them as we speak. huh??
