the doctor is in the house (quite literally)

going grocery shopping was an okay chore in your opinion

it honestly depended on your mood or whatever kind of shit happens when you go shopping

cause like something always, always happens whenever you go do groceries

sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, and sometimes it’s just plain weird

one time some weirdo proposed to you in the middle of the store asking for a double suicide

he was good looking you’d admit but it’s not like you’d ever see him again

or so you thought

a n y w a y s

every so often, you’d run out of real person food in your apartment

you mostly survive off all of the leftover bakery treats and ingredients—which works out pretty well actually—but bakery supplies unfortunately also run out quite often

and also unfortunately, one time when both fukuzawa & ranpo took a visit to Sakura’s, fukuzawa argued that “no you can’t live off sweets for the rest of your life”

ranpo was scandalized and scrambled to cover your ears

you guys were at it for a while

in the end you sided with fukuzawa causing ranpo to go off about “betrayal from the people he cared most abt” or smth like that

you guys were okay again after bribing him with sweets :)

for bakery supplies you usually have them delivered bc you order them in large quantities bc ahaha no way were you gonna carry like 15-20 50 pound bags of flour no way

when days like those happen, you close up the bakery early so you aren’t walking home when it’s too dark

you scheduled it to happen every first saturday of the month

on those saturdays, you close at 5 instead of at 8

currently, you were at the grocery store looking for basic cooking ingredients such as proteins, vegetables, fruits, and most importantly, snacks

ranpo’s been rubbing off on you

the sun was starting to set and you were walking home with your two bags of groceries when shit went down

tbh you were kinda expecting it cause your grocery run was peaceful for once

but what you weren’t expecting was a wack-a-do to appear out of goddamn nowhere right when you were opening the side door to get to the staircase up to your apartment

like honestly

let a woman do her own thing

the man who grabbed you tried to covered your mouth so you couldn’t scream but you didn’t exactly make it easy for him

you kicked and thrashed around even using the grocery bags—that were somehow still in your hand—as a weapon and the man struggled but he was still bigger than you and was able to bring you to a nearby alley

he reeked of alcohol and you spotted a wedding band on his left hand

not that you cared about the detail in the moment

you kicked him in the groin and in response he let you go only to fall on broken glass that was in the alley way

using the wall to help yourself up, you grabbed a nearby wooden stick and struck him right on his back

your attacker fell and you immediately turned on your heels to escape only to fall back down on the hard cold ground once again

you lift your face up and look back to see the man holding onto your ankle

grabbing a shard of glass—cutting yourself in the process— you begin to swing it at him only for him to easily grip your wrist and stop you

you get ready try and kick him in the groin again but you’re interrupted as your attacker gets sucker punched and flies to wall

you look up to see your savior and you’re blessed to see a beautiful woman, probably not that much older than you are—she’s probably around ranpo’s age— donning a white long sleeve button up, a matching black necktie, knee length skirt, and gloves, along with tights, red heels, and a pretty butterfly clip in her short black hair

but what you really notice is her eyes

ranpo’s eyes were pretty but you like hers just a bit more

you’ve always liked the color magenta

the pretty lady holds out her hand and you take it graciously and thank her as she helps you up

as that’s happening, your attacker gets himself onto his feet and his groan catches both of your attention

he struggles to stand and the pretty lady simples saunters over to him and delivers an uppercut knocking him out cold

you’re stunned and you breathe out a “thank you” making her turn towards you

she notices the condition you’re in

bleeding scrapes on your hands, arms and legs, small rips in your clothes like your tights, blouse, and skirt, and the ruffled state of your hair and clothing

she asks if you live nearby and you tell her that you own the bakery that’s one or two buildings away

when you tell her that, it clicks in her mind that you must be the bakery girl ranpo’s been talking about and the friend fukuzawa was cat sitting for

it’s been abt two weeks since ranpo and fukuzawa first met you and since then, they’ve seen lucky in the office plenty and the boxes of your signature sweets even more

if those two trust you, she has no reason not to

she smiles at you, holds out her hand for you to shake, and introduces herself as the doctor of the armed detective agency

your eyes widen and you smile back at her shaking her hand

“ah! you must be yosano-sensei then! ranpo-san and fukuzawa-san have talked about you! it’s so nice to meet you! im (l/n) (y/n)!”

“they’ve talked about you too, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you (y/n)”

after that exchange she insisted on bringing you home to treat you wounds which you told her it wasn’t necessary

she gave you a pointed look and that was when you realized what state you were in

you sighed and weakly gave in to which she only grinned at

before leaving the alley she walks over to the unconscious man and pulls out his wallet for some sort of identification and home address as you try to see if there’s any groceries still salvageable

after texting the details to kunikida, yosano turns to you poking around the now ruined grocery bags

she simply rubs your back and tells you that the both of you could go buy more groceries together as she was meaning to get some anyways; she even said she’ll pay for you

you refused obviously but she, unknowingly, used the same tactic fukuzawa used with you

“so you’re saying you don’t need groceries?”

“...”

*cue an eyebrow raise from our resident queen*

“...you agency members don’t like making things easy for me huh.”

you gave in reluctantly and at this point you don’t even know why you try negotiating with them

and that’s only three of them

apparently, she was on the other side of the street on the way to buy groceries for the agency when she noticed different produce items on the other sidewalk leading to the alley and she went to check out what happened

ironically, the way to the grocery store from the agency makes you go past Sakura’s but she didn’t realize it until after the two of you had met

before you know it, the two of you are in your apartment kitchen as she cleans and patches up all of your wounds

as she does so the two of you have a little girl talk

you find it quite comforting bc since you opened up Sakura’s you haven’t really had the chance to connect to many people much less other women

you definitely see yosano as your cool, loving, badass older sister

she thinks you’re adorable and agrees with ranpo’s opinion

yup

you called it a betrayal and all she did was laugh at you <//3

“awhh that’s really cool yosano-sensei!—MFPH?!?”

*squishing your cheeks the same way ranpo did* “ranpo-san was right (n/n)-chan, your cheeks are squishy!”

“?!”

after that small fiasco, the two of you talked some more and bonded over your love for flowers, japanese sweets, and much more!!

you even made a date to have a girls day to go shopping and eat out!

you’re internally squealing a bit bc it’s been a while since you’ve gone shopping

yosano notices and she giggles behind her hand not saying anything bc she knows you’ll only throw a fit

the two of you came around the topic of ranpo when lucky passed by

lucky quickly warmed up to the doctor and cozied up in her lap

“i wish ranpo-san was able to meet lucky when he came by the first time, but then again, he’d probably throw a tantrum if i don’t pay attention to him for 5 seconds”

she snorted at that and like fukuzawa, she shared stories abt the slightly older male

“ranpo-san doesn’t know how to ride a train?”

“unbelievable right?”

“for someone so intelligent i expected more from him”

“i’ll be telling that to ranpo-san, (n/n)-chan”

“wha—?! yosano-sensei please don’t!”

like ranpo, she’s also a tease </3

but you love her anyway <3

eventually, she finished patching you up and promised to treat you to a new set of clothes when the two of you go out

“you don’t need to lose a good set of clothes just because of a sleazy man (n/n)-chan! you deserve better!”

you were going to argue that the rips in your clothes were fairly small and could easily be fixed—except the tights—but you stopped in your tracks when you remembered that it was practically useless to argue against an ada member

the two of you walked to the grocery store and bought both of your needed supplies—along with some extra goodies—and then she walked you back to your place bc it was already a bit dark out

but even if it wasn’t, she would walk you anyways

besides, if anything happened to you, she’s 1000% positive that ranpo and fukuzawa are gonna flip the fuck out not that she wont cause she most definitely will

speaking of which

you were drinking a bottle of water as the two of made your way back to Sakura’s when all of a sudden

“(y/n) you do realize that i have to tell shachou and ranpo-san about what happened today right?”

you choked on your water

“yosano-sensei you can’t! if you do they’ll freak! they won’t leave me alone for at least two weeks! one if im lucky!”

“exactly the point”

you just accepted your defeat already knowing that you’d lose

but maybe you can simmer down their anger towards the bastard with sweets and lucky

you arrived at Sakura’s shortly after and after bringing groceries in, you packaged a bunch of pastries leftover from today—bc you closed early—and bc you’re well aware that ranpo doesn’t share any of the sweets you send him with

you even gave yosano her own special box filled with goodies she loves, and a thermos of fukuzawa’s favorite, your special hot honey lemon tea

other than the sweets, you prepared lucky to spend the night at fukuzawa’s

you really really hoped that doing these things would make them calm down

you shivered at the thought of what their responses would be

you felt really bad for giving yosano all these things to carry and that you were keeping her very late

she assured you that she was fine and that if someone tried to mess with her she’d kick their ass

and after exchanging numbers, the magenta eyed queen bid you a good night and walked back to the agency with lucky walking by her heels

arriving back at the agency, yosano was greeted with some concerns asking if she was alright bc she came back from her grocery run pretty late

(she usually goes in the mornings but today was pretty busy so she left in the late afternoon but now it was already dark)

she waved off the concerns and plopped a couple boxes of your signature bakery boxes at ranpo’s desk, the one for her at her own, the last few boxes in the kitchen for any other agent or clerk to grab, placed the thermos on the desk fukuzawa was by, and picked up lucky and handed him to the president

the two males were pleased with what yosano had brought them, and pleased that another agency member had the chance to meet you

fukuzawa was rubbing lucky and ranpo already snacking on treats as yosano expected

but here comes the hard part

or maybe it’s gonna amusing who knows

“i met (y/n) today.”

“we could tell.”

in goes another treat in the green eyed man’s mouth

“would you like to know how?”

“you bumped into each other, had girl talk, made plans to go out, went grocery shopping, and you brought me and shachou presents.”

“great job ranpo-san, you’re almost completely correct.”

this caught the attention of basically everyone bc they knew ranpo was never “almost completely correct”

“we ended up meeting bc she got attacked on her way home from grocery shopping, i treated her wounds, then we had girl talk and did all the other stuff”

ranpo and fukuzawa froze right in their tracks

“i sent all the info of the bastard to kunikida”

“kunikida.”

“yes shachou”

“find out everything about that man and bring it to me and ranpo”

“...yes shachou”

“and yosano”

“yes?”

“text (y/n) and tell her that her cat, tea, and pastries aren’t going to work as a bribe”

just as you finished taking a shower you sneezed

It may be surprising to y’all but I’m actually going to be in my last year of high school next year and university applications are in fact, a thing. Anyways, to all of you out there who need this like me, hang in there and let’s get through 2020 as well as we could :) 

Also this turned out to be way longer than I thought it would be so I decided to divide it into organisations! 

How BSD characters would help their S/O through college apps (Part 1) [ADA]

[Kunikida] 

- This man is a sweetheart despite his short fuse towards Dazai. When he sees you freaking out in front of your computer, he quickly rushes to your side with a mug of chamomile tea (yes he has done his research; Kunikida knew which tea is the most calming and soothing). Once you manage to calm down and let him wipe away your tears of frustration (if you had any), he asks you what was wrong. 

- Kunikida lets out a sigh of relief when he heard that it wasn’t something life-threatening. However, he still recognises that college applications are extremely important, so he resolves to help you as best as he could. 

- Kunikida has been to university, so he knew that the process was quite difficult. However, when you list out your problems with a lot of terms and jargons that are specific to the college application system, his head went up in confusion.

- He quickly figured out the basics through Google though, and did research on a lot of applications that did get the applicant into the universities that you were looking at. After leaving him alone for five hours and stressing through it by yourself, he came back with a stack of information that would help you, and talked you through it slowly, making sure you understood all of it.

[Dazai]

- Dazai tries to cheer you up with jokes and his frolicking around, as well as snacks and maybe even something romantic. But when you start breaking down into tears of frustration, he starts to mildly panic. He asks if there was anything he could do to help and you really didn’t know. 

- So he decided to look at what was scaring you so much. Dazai has to admit, he was a little surprised at how complex the entire thing was. But he manages to educate himself on it to try and help you for once (yes, Dazai can be helpful when he wants to be thank you very much)

- Once he’d checked you have calmed down, he presents you with a whole new host of options; do you want him to help you threaten or bribe your dream university so they would accept you? After your shock at his proposed solutions faded, he starts to offer actually useful advice. 

- Dazai is a strategist and he knows it. So he laid out his plan to ‘conquer’ this complicated game of ‘entering university’ (because after all, it’s still a situation where brains would help; there were set rules and people had manoeuvred around it. He would simply do the same and play dirty). Amazingly, his plans were strategies that you had seen people talk about on Youtube -- and once again Dazai took the opportunity to brag about it and act cute around you. 

[Atsushi]

- Atsushi isn’t sure how important university really was, but then he saw you having a breakdown in front of your computer and knew it was serious and competitive business. After panicking for about ten minutes, he calmed down enough to ask whether you were okay and whether you need anything. 

- After getting you a glass of water, he tries to reason his way around it; after all, a lot of people had got through life without university, so it wasn’t absolutely necessary. Besides, you can always join the ADA! But when he saw it was going nowhere, he decided to call in the expert - Dazai. 

- Dazai gave him shit advice as always, so he turned to Kunikida. Kunikida rambled on for quite a while, but he summarised it at the end by simply saying ‘Try to figure it out yourself before you can help her, brat.’ 

- So somehow he decides to try for university himself as well, despite not having had any qualifications before. Atsushi decided to try getting into a vocational training institute (where you learn practical skills rather than going for an academic/professional degree), and you ended up helping each other to your dream universities :) 

[Yosano] 

- Yosano-sensei is another one who doesn’t understand the need to go to university. She herself became a healer through her abilities (and her past which we won’t go into), so she thought that it was ridiculous you needed to go to medical school.

- But when she realises the gravity of the situation she immediately sobers up. While she knows that she can’t help on that end, she offers as much moral support as she could; ushering you to bed whenever she sees you staying up too late, making you meals or getting takeout whenever you want to stress eat, or comforting you. She was there for every step of the way, and available for hugs all the time. 

- When you had to go for an interview, she made sure you were dressed properly for the occasion. Even if it was an online interview, there were no excuses; you absolutely cannot wear a formal shirt and shorts just because you were at home. 

- Once you were done and finally finished with the applications, she drags you out on a shopping trip with her. It didn’t matter that there wasn’t anything you guys needed, she made up her mind that it was better for you to get out of the house and take in some fresh air. Besides, it was the better alternative to sitting in front of the computer and continuing to fret. 

[Ranpo]

- The third one that doesn’t give a crap about university. He decided to pick a fight with you, stating out about 100 reasons why it was pointless to go and why you shouldn’t go because 1) it was useless and 2) he needs you by his side. 

- He had meant to rile you up in a fight, but that just resulted in you being more stressed and attempting to push him away instead of seeking him for comfort. When you started giving him the cold shoulder (because you really needed to concentrate), Ranpo threw a fit and there was a cold war in the house for a few days.

- Eventually, he asked Kunikida about what was so important about university, and realised that it may actually mean a lot to you. But being Ranpo, his pride was still there and he didn’t want to apologize just yet. He decided, however, to be as helpful as he could be. 

- And every time you sit in front of the computer, there was a different kind of sweet sitting there waiting for you. Sometimes it was your favourite, sometimes it was his favourite,  but it didn’t really matter; the intentions did. When Ranpo saw you accepting the sweets, he took it as a sign that you forgave him and started to stick to your side whenever you were working on your applications. He doesn’t really say anything, but you knew he was there as best as he could.

[Tanizaki]

- Somehow he found you in one of your breakdown sessions and immediately panicked. However, instead of being in panic mode for ten minutes like Atsushi did, he asked hesitantly whether he could approach you, and when given permission, he held and hugged you until you were able to calm down significantly. 

- Tanizaki admits that he doesn’t really know how to help; he was a student formerly but quit to join the ADA. However, Naomi was still in high school, so he decided to approach his sister for help regarding this.

- Naomi gave him loads of tips which he shared to you, but eventually he invited her over and you two had loads of studying sessions and university application sessions, which helped you a lot, especially when you had a friend together. Naomi was also motivational because she gets things done easily, and gives you a lot of advice. 

- Tanizaki knew that he would be interfering if he was part of the circle, so he just lets you and his sister get it on. He does provide mental support and food though, and cooks dinner, and makes desserts whenever you two feel stressed or are studying late into the night. 

[Kenji]

- Kenji is a country boy. He doesn’t know what this complex university system is, because back in the country you get plucked out of school every so often to help with crops and most of them don’t make it to university. (please tell me if I got this incorrect!) 

- Being innocent and carefree as he was, he kept asking you questions about how things were done. At first you replied to get him away from you, because you needed peace and quiet, but while answering him, you realised you answered some of your own questions. 

- Kenji was also a kind boy, so he asked the people he helped around Yokohama how he could help you. Some of them offered genuine advice, but he just messes it up when he tries to offer it to you, but it does make you laugh. Sometimes, however, he comes back with sweets and offerings from sympathetic parents; he once came back with a kitten, which made your stress decrease a LOT. 

- On weekends, he insisted on you taking a trip with him to the countryside even though you protested it; you had a lot on your plate. However, these trips often help clear your head and you were able to write more once you get home. The fresh air does do wonders for your stress. 

[Kyouka] 

- Her first response was to kill someone, obviously. However, once you persuaded her that it doesn’t work, she told you, with a deadpan face, to trash the computer. That wouldn’t work either.

- She tried to bring you all sorts of cute things to cheer you up. That did, temporarily, but she soon realised the fundamental problem of ‘not enough space’. So she decided to cook for you instead, which helped a lot. 

- Kyouka doesn’t really understand how university works, so she had you explain it to her. Once she learnt all of it, however, she started offering advice on her experience as an assassin, and tried to put them in context of university applications. 

- You weren’t sure how, but it somehow worked. Kyouka also asked Atsushi for help, who asked Kunikida. At the end, she dragged Kunikida to your place and helped you, while staring at your process. Whenever you get stressed and wanted to throw things, she offers her ability as target practice. 

[Fukuzawa]

- Fukuzawa did go onto higher education. But back in his days higher education was much, much simpler. He just stared on in disbelief when you tried to explain the current university application process, and had to tell you that it was ridiculous. 

- However, he tries his best to help. Being an avid reader of literature, he introduced books that he thinks might help your preparation; if you didn’t have time to read them, he gives you ten minute crash courses on them (despite his dislike of people not reading what he recommends), and helps you out on how to summarise them properly on your applications.

- Fukuazawa also helps you proofread your essays or applications. He points out what he thinks as incoherent or lengthy; basically, after his scrutiny, your application was beautifully polished in the only way he could help. 

- He also makes sure you gets enough rest and sleep in the midst of all this. Fukuzawa remembers to usher you away to bed at the appropriate timing and to wake you up whenever you decided to operate on sleep deprivation alone. He was the only thing keeping you to a reasonable schedule and timetable, but you could get out of it if you waved a cat in front of his face.

Fyodor

-so I don’t write a lot for fyodor, but I like the idea of him not really admitting to himself that he has a crush on someone. So the only reason he doesn’t see this coming is because he doesn’t let himself realize that you’re important enough to him for someone to try something.

-so when he turns around and sees a child that bears a striking resemblance to you, he debates leaving you on the streets.

-”It’ll wear off….eventually…I’m sure…it was their fault for not watching their back anyway…”

-then you say “Fyodor?” and look at him curiously. The baby voice grates on his ears but he knows he can’t just leave you alone. Then you’d cause more problems for him.

-he sighs and tells you to be quiet or he’ll have to kill you. You don’t understand that he’s serious, get excited, and ask if you’re playing spies. He calls you an idiot, then says yes, of course you are playing spies.

-anybody giving him a weird glance for toting a child, passerby or subordinate, is placed on a hit list he’s developing just for today’s events.

-he decides the best way to cure this is to kill the ability user that did this to you. He doesn’t really spend a lot of time with you because okay yeah the more he thinks about it the cuter you get but he must free you from this prison and no amount of baby giggles will change his mind

-when you’re an adult again, he doesn’t look at you with relief or anger. He’s just…indifferent. He makes it clear that this isn’t to happen again and leaves without much of an explanation, despite how confused you are.

-It’s better you don’t remember much from the excursion. You were tainted by that ability, but if you truly didn’t remember it, repentance wouldn’t be too difficult.

Dazai

-Dazai….Dazai is also a disaster

-he doesn’t consider leaving you on the street, however. He gets excited, cooing over how cute you are and how he’d be a great parent, until about five minutes in and the new-ness wears off and he realizes this is terrible and he needs to stop it now

-before that, he’s extra doting, offering you ice cream and candy, offering to play board games with you

-he’s like a really fun, reckless older brother

-then he realizes that he can’t be your boyfriend if you’re almost 15 years younger than him and decides to go find the ability user that did this to you

-after bribing ranpo with the ice cream and candy he previously offered you, he finds the user and leaves you with Kunikida, who is nowhere near as fun as Dazai.

-Kunikida is in the middle of scolding you for drawing with his pens when you suddenly turn back into an adult. He coughs and tries to act like he wasn’t yelling at a now 20-ish year old, and you are very confused.

-When Dazai comes back, he throws his arms around you and acts as if it’s the end of the world and you almost dies. After you let him hang on you, he starts commenting on how cute you were as a child and how he hopes your children together look more like you and not the monster that would be their father. he’s totally fishing for compliments

Chuuya

-Chuuya would be a wonderful caretaker if he wasn’t a mafia executive

-When he wakes up next to you as a child, he freaks out a little. a lot

-does his absolute best to childproof his apartment with what he has: wine bottles go up, doors and windows are locked, drawers are blocked as best as he can get them to be, everything.

-as he’s trying to make some breakfast a child would like, he calls mori and tells him about what’s happening, realizes his mistake, and calls Kouyou to ask if she can take care of you

-while waiting for her to show up, he sits and talks to you. How do you feel? Do you know how old you are? Do you know who he is? He’s relieved when you answer that last one with “Chuuya!” and a quiet “you’re cute…” At least he doesn’t have a seven year old prancing around saying they’re dating him.

-he doesn’t know if he should be doting or indifferent, so he leaves after awkwardly ruffling your hair and promising he’ll fix this. Mori had already set up a plan for him to find the ability user once he gets to work, something he is extremely grateful for.

-Kouyou plays with your hair and sings to you. She even brought over a doll for you to play with while she watches you. She doesn’t admit it, but she likes having someone to watch over again.

-Chuuya calls once every hour making sure everything is ok. He’s so frazzled help him

-When you turn back into an adult after Chuuya has taken care of the ability user, she explains things to you and the two of you have a quiet night of catching up until Chuuya gets home. He greets you with a big hug and feels significantly less….gross now that you’re back to around his age.

Atsushi

-Finally, a boy that will spend time with you!

-He’d be surprised and instantly worried once he realizes you were turned into a child. Did it hurt? Are you okay? How much do you remember? He’s asking you so many questions that you start to feel overwhelmed and cry a little.

-He feels bad and just kinda…holds you while pleading with his eyes for Dazai to help him figure out what just happened.

-They take you to the agency where Atsushi tries to keep you occupied with pens and paper or playing hand games with you. Dazai joins you and Atsushi sporadically to avoid doing paperwork until Kunikida yells at him

-Ultimately, Atsushi stays behind while Dazai and Ranpo go to take down the ability user. He takes you on a walk with Kyouka, who buys you a crepe.

-The three of you are sitting on the docks talking when you turn back into an adult. You’re a little dazed as you look around and ask what happened.

-Atsushi explains it as well as he can, how an ability user made you a child and he’s been taking care of you the whole day. You thank him, and he responds with, “It wasn’t really a problem. Why didn’t you tell me you were such a cute kid?”

Imagine all the ADA go to CoKa. How would the night go?

OSAMU DAZAI

Would absolutely be into it!

He’d spend most of the time teasing Atsushi and Kunikida, while simultaneously trying to encourage everyone to have a bit of fun.

He’d be the type to manipulate people into singing specific songs that he’d enjoy or would cause embarrassment, really the most entertainment for him.

He would order alcoholic drinks (such as sake) but not much; he is the classy type. He never would get drunk anyway without a lot.

I can see him singing along to some Bon Jovi , pop rock or even some Katy Perry. You may think he can sing brilliantly, and tells everyone he can sing, but is tone deaf. It is both surprising and expected from everyone.

ATSUSHI NAKAJIMI

Hed either be dying of embarrassment or second hand embarrassment for fellow agency members.

He’d be so wrapped up in the weird shenanigans of his co workers, that when it does cycle to his turn, he doesn’t even realise.

He’d lampshade his own singing. “I’m really not a good singer!” And then proceed to sing at a not too bad a tone. He doesn’t have much confidence, but thanks to everyone, he’ll finally get into the song midway through the first chorus.

If the lounge serves tea on rice, bet your ass he will order. He would most likely stick to juice though.

The orphanage never really played music. So he’d get someone else (likely Junichirou) to pick a song for him. That is unless he recognises a song that was plays on the radio. As long as everyone liked the song, he wouldn’t mind.

DOPPO KUNIKIDA

Dying. Inside. He would just be waiting for the night to end, keeping to his own corner to ignore everyone’s shenanigans with budgets or future cases. He’d bring as much work as he could get through.

Though at some points he may tap a foot to some melodies, he’d restrain himself from joining in the fun. Work was too important.

Eventually he would get roped in, most likely due to Yosano’s determination or Fukuzawa’s encouragement to take a break.

He would only ever order water; someone’s gotta stick to budgets. The agency is spending this money out of its own pocket.

He’d likely end up singing whatever was picked out for him. He’s not wasting mental energy on picking out a song, and (wrongly) trusts his fellow members to pick something good for him..

RANPO EDOGAWA

He would definitely be joining Dazai in the persuasion of other member’s song choices.

Would order every single sweet on the menu. There wouldn’t be a moment in the night where he wasn’t eating some kind of a sweet treat.

Uses sweets to bribe everyone into letting him pick their songs. Then he resorts to blackmail.

Even though he’s just as into the karaoke shtick as Dazai, you’d never find him pick out a song for himself. Everyone in the agency respects him too much to persuade him otherwise, so he’s the only one who gets away Scott free.

AKIKO YOSANO

She’s the most chill person of the night. Though she does partake in a little teasing of other members, she doesn’t full out embarrass them (like Dazai).

She spends most of her night with Ranpo, giving him ideas as to what the song requests should be (in a mostly joking tone), that is until he takes it seriously, though she doesn’t really mind - more amusement for her.

She’d be ordering Saki with Dazai. She wouldn’t give a damn about no budget.

When it’s her turn to sing, everyone knows she SLAYS. I can see her going for the Aggretsuko style screamo, or the opposite end of the spectrum with a bit of old pop.

JUNICHIROU TANIZAKI (+ Naomi)

Junichirou and Naomi are sticking together with glue, and more if our dear Imouto can help it.

Not that Junichirou minds. If they sing a duet together, though he isn’t the best singer, the two together sound like an angel. The weird incest stuff is a small price to pay to avoid humiliation... I guess.

Junichirou is a little concerned about his fellow members and experiences quite the second hand embarrassment, but is discreet with these feelings. Naomi isn’t phased by any antics, always focusing on her big bro.

At the same time, Naomi wants other agents to have fun too.

Shield Kenji and Kyoka’s eyes. Think of the children. Pls.

80s pop duets are there jam. Seasons of Love, that kind of thing. Maybe even some Disney classics with a sprinkle of Musicals.

KENJI MIYAZAWA

There’ll be that jerk making fun of the ADA outside on the way to the vending machines. Kenji is the one to teach him a lesson. A lesson of hugs and kindness! (and maybe a punch)

This is a much deserved rest, so he is going to stuff his face at the lounge (but is wary of Kunikida’s stress over the budget, and is considerate boi).

After he eats, he sleep for almost the entire night, except for moments that he’s eating or singing.

He’s a ray of sunshine. Even if he can’t sing, he gives the aura he can, and everyone will be super supportive. It’s impossible to dislike anything he does after all. Late 2000, early 2010 upbeat songs are what he’d sing.

YUKICHI FUKUZAWA

This man is in charge of making sure everyone is relaxed. Especially if there’s been a really hard mission they’ve just come back from.

He will most likely pay for the entire event from his own pocket. He wants everyone to be okay, and to enjoy themselves to the fullest.

After the night is over, he will see everyone off to make sure they leave safely. The agency members are like children to him (some still are children, and others certainly act the part). It’s also to make sure everyone had as much fun as they could.

He’d definitely sing old Japanese folk songs.

KYÔKA IZUMI

She’d stay with Atsushi, though less bewildered with the antics then him or Junichirou. She’s dealt with the Port Mafia after all (Higuchi, Chuya, Kōyō, Kajii, and the whole gang were all preparation).

She’d be honest with everyone about their singing. If they sing badly, then she’ll tell it straight. Dazai may get a little upset, but recovery is quick. The scene plays like a theatrical play then a simple conversation (the theatrics provided purely by Dazai).

She’d be sipping her tea and eating tofu in the corner. Of course.

This girl is perfect. She’s adorably cute, is polite, can assassin like no man’s business, and has the voice of an angel. Fukuzawa and Ranpo are giving her all of the treats (provided Ranpo resists them in the first place, which is unlikely).

She and Yukichi are in the old folk song gang.
