As of right now, there is a Vine Revival that works for Android, iPhone, and even Windows Phone, which is not fully supported, but it is still available to be used.

Most of the functionality works, such as posting (works on every version but 1.3.5, on Android), commenting, following people, and, of course, watching vines.

WIP Wednesday - Eddie Diaz and "Buck"

Hello all! Just wanted to bring a bit of my new project, a sci-fi style AU (currently untitled) akin to Detroit Become Human (which I've never played but should). It's still in the works, but I like the idea so far and I'm excited to flesh it out and wanted to share.

Premise

In the near future, androids have integrated society and serve to assist with numerous tasks including Military applications, Search and Rescue applications, and basic household functions, such as meal prep, childcare, etc.

When exhausted former Army Machinist and current Los Angeles Firefighter and single father Eddie Diaz finds himself the recipient of a new prototype Executive Valet Android (E.V.An) codenamed "Buck", he's initially wary at having such a sophisticated piece of technology having access to his daily life.

But Buck does make his life easier, and soon he accepts the help. But having an android that is both so human and so alien can be jarring. Can Eddie keep the two separate, or will "Buck's" exceptionally realistic programming blur the lines between Owner/Friend/and perhaps even more…

“It looks so lifelike.” When Eddie entered the firehouse, bag slung over his shoulder, he noticed that the team was gathered near the foot of the stairs. Worried that he might have missed an important meeting, he jogged over to the collective mass.  “Like, you’re messing with me. This is an actor or a prank, right?’ Chimney poked along the ribs of a tall stranger who looked entirely unaffected by the action.  “Who’s this? New probie?” Eddie asked. He sized up the man in front of him. He was tall, taller than Eddie by at least a couple of inches, with dirty blond hair and the most affecting blue eyes Eddie had ever seen. The man’s features were casual and neutral, with a strong nose, pouty lips, and a small burn or other affect over his left eye. He couldn’t have been older than his mid-twenties. He looked almost too young to be a firefighter, if you ignored the fact that the man was built. Eddie traced the lines of the man’s chest and forearms with his eyes. The veins in his arms alone sent a tickle down Eddie’s spine, as did the tattoos. Eddie appreciated a well-formed build, male or female. It spoke to taking care of oneself. It spoke to strength, stamina, and dedication. It had been what had finally pulled the string in the net cast around him by his estranged wife. Her pregnancy had been what put a ring on his finger, but her ability to outpace him in nearly every activity was what had pulled him into her bed.  

And this? This was a form he could appreciate.  “Not a probie,” Hen said, looking up at the man. “An E.V.An.”  “A what?” Eddie pulled the slipping strap of his bag back over his shoulder and crossed his arms.  “It stands for Executive Valet Android. It’s a prototype from the applied robotics division at Karen’s lab.” She looked up at the tall blond in something akin to awe. “This one’s designated as ‘Buck’.”  At the sound of its name, the blond focused those piercing eyes on Hen. “Hello, Hen.” its voice was warm, not the artificial chirrup that Eddie associated with androids. Chimney was still poking about its ribs, and when it looked at him, he abruptly stopped. 

Eddie was curious. And skeptical. He padded around Buck, his keen eyes focused on every feature he could take in. Buck turned its gaze to follow him as he circled around the android. “No. I’m with Chimney. This is a stunt.” When the rest of the team turned to him, he shrugged. “I worked with automata in the field. Combat Mechanist, remember? The army had some of the most sophisticated units to ever be developed.” He looked at Buck. Its unwavering gaze focused on him as he spoke, its head cocked ever so slightly to the side. “This?” He gestured with his hand toward Buck. “This would be lightyears beyond anything that I’ve ever seen.”  “Welcome to the future then,” Hen said with a broad smile. When Eddie continued to appear unconvinced, she sighed and stepped in front of the tall blond. She rested her hand on Buck’s shoulder, fingers along the ridge and thumb pressed lightly against the pulse point of its neck. Buck’s demeanor never shifted at the intrusion into its personal space.  Eddie watched the display, the casual intimacy of the touch. The way the man appeared wholly unmoved. As far as performances went, he deserved an Oscar. After a beat, a quiet chime sounded. It appeared to emanate directly from Buck himself, but that was impossible. “Buck, diagnostic mode.” Chimney audibly gasped as tattoo on Buck’s arm, a concentric ring of lines and dots, animated and began rotating, pooling under the skin like some sort of LCD display. The man’s eyes faded from sky blue to a milky white, and if Eddie hadn’t physically seen the small panel underneath Buck’s arm unfasten, he would have likely believed the other man was having a stroke. Hen removed her fingers, and casually lifted the man’s arm, exposing a small touch screen embedded inside his skin. Servos and actuators and extremely complex wiring systems with diodes in every possible color blinked, hammered, and pulsed in the cavity behind the screen. In all his years, Eddie had never seen anything so surreal, so entirely foreign.

Okay - not necessarily a character, but moreso a concept that I am tacking on to a few characters between two different projects for the time being. The term "Time is a flat circle" generally refers to the idea that, since time is infinite, everything will eventually repeat itself- a bit like the infinite monkey theorem, stating that if you stick a bunch of monkeys in a room and have them bang on a bunch of type writers for an infinite amount of time, its pretty much a given that they'll eventually write out the complete works of William Shakespeare.

To put it into perspective, "Time is a flat circle" can best be applied to literary or video-format media; something that is the same in all appearances, even when you read or watch it over and over, remaining the same even if your own perspective changes. Your life will repeat an infinite number of times, and everything that has happened will happen again, and has happened before. Think Ouroboros. (Not to be confused with linear infinity!! or, a timeline without a beginning or an end, no closed loop)

How it applies to characters is below the cut, cos' this may get lengthy again (sorry)

(For a better look at the concept by someone who did a much better job at executing it than I ever will, check out No Through Road! Its a fascinating few videos really, and Maverick Files also covered it in a way that clears some things up if you find yourself confused.)

First off, the thus far Untitled Project, otherwise known as "Local Ancient Android Confused That People Give a Shit [About Them.]" There are three embodiments of fear known to date:

Locke: Only technically an embodiment, artificially created by means of the fear they cary and how they present themselves. Locke, to put it simply, causes the fear - they are the catalyst.

Deimos: A "true embodiment," per se. I've said it a bunch of times, but Deimos is the fear - his title is quite literally "Embodiment of Human Fear," he has it down to a science at this point.

Phobos: Another "true embodiment," Phobos is best summed up as the reaction to the fear - much like his (current) namesake, the greek god Phobos. Fight, Flight, Freeze, Flop, Friend and etc. So lightly connecting all of this together, you have this trifecta of Messed Up Little Guys™, which, as I talked about above the cut, can fall into two categories that I know of in terms of the fear cycle:

now, I haven't *really* figured out which way I'm going with this, and the Ouroboros-shaped one admittedly doesn't make all that much sense, but Deimos and Locke talk about things like this all the time when they meet up, (It's a little hard not to when you're both millions of years old and concepts such as those are essentially timeless) and it will likely come up often enough once I get an actual narrative rolling. Not to mention Locke's whole schtick of being mainly based on the metamorphism of stories and folklore at they move through different times and societies with different ideals, but that's besides the point. Undertale AU - guess who has a undertale au <<< this dipshit /aff This one also goes into "Time is a flat circle", but moreso into the idea of this concept breaking down - in short, time travel happened. What if Ouroboros choked? Well, then the giant cosmic serpent would bite itself, and thats just bad news all around. Also, it's entirely W.D Gaster's fault.

Now, theres already a loop going on in Undertale for obvious reasons (both in the fact that the game mechanics are made a very real part of the world in reseting and in the fact that Toby Fox just couldn't get the game to delete itself after completion and henceforth there is really no truly happy ending to what we see- killed by Flowey? super incredibummer, reset. Genocide? that sucks, there are in fact consequences for your actions, reset. reach the surface? well, the only way to continue on past this is to reset, so you and the monsters stuck in the underground perpetually. death of the author in some funky way I guess) so what's the harm in adding one more? Also, nice parallels. Also, because throwing philosophical concepts at my work is fun.

Wanderers in the Night: (Rough Draft) Two childhood rivals, Markell and Veles, are forced to work together to undo a conspiracy to quicken the Celestial War--a prophecy of when the Divines and the Old Gods battle to decide who will remain the sole exalted force.

Untitled Cyberpunk: (Rough Draft) An android named Nova works to figure out why she’s being hunted by the most powerful conglomerates in her city--only to discover a terrifying truth about her origins

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Cloud Gaming Beta Launches September 15th

Starting September 15, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member’s can use their Android devices to play games via the cloud in 22 countries as a beta. This means subscribers will be able to play Xbox One and Xbox Series X games on their phones and tablets bundled in for free with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. More than 150 games will be available to play at the initial launch. According to Microsoft, “you can expect the library to evolve over time, based on members’ feedback, with new games added all the time”. Microsoft’s cloud gaming service called Project xCloud goal is to let gamers play big-name games on whichever device you want, whenever you want, and stream via your consoles, phones or Windows 10 PCs.

You’ll be able to discover the freedom and flexibility the cloud can bring to your experience playing a game. No more waiting to get home to finally play a game or having to spend extra money on a handheld  game console that you may forget to charge before a vacation. I can see cloud gaming being a huge benefit for people sharing rooms, tvs, and electronics. You can all play the same Co-op game on different devices, or while someone is watching TV you can still be playing your games on your phone. The world of Xbox can be opened up to those who don’t even have a console at all. All you will need is an Xbox Game Pass Membership, an Android phone or tablet, and a supported controller to join in on the fun.

You will have the option to play single-player or online multiplayer games on your preferred device. You will also get the opportunity to play with PC players in games where cross-play with Xbox One is supported. Please note, cloud gaming will be dependent on having a stable internet connection, but Microsoft promised the service will be able to run on a 7-10mb/s connection.

Some of the games available in the Xbox library include, Tell Me Why, Grounded,Battletoads, Untitled Goose Game, and Destiny 2.

New members can join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate today for $1 for the first month, then it’s $14.99 a month afterwards. To play games on your phone or tablet, download the Xbox Game Pass app from the Samsung Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store. A Home In the Meadow

So for those of you that don’t know, I am very proud and excited to be a part of the as yet untitled Choices Crossover! As part of this new project @tornbetween2loves @kennaxval @teamtomsato @strangerofbraidwood @sawyeroakleyscowboyhat @stopforamoment @begging-for-kamilah and I have been writing various one-shots and drabbles in an attempt to world build/ introduce our versions of these characters. the following is one such piece, based on a song prompt from the wonderful kennaxval himself. The song I was given is “A Home in the Meadow” by Debbie Reynolds. Hope you guys enjoy! PS This is my first ever piece that has ZERO TRR characters in it so go easy on me...

       Kai opened her eyes to find Hayden's baby blues staring into hers. She inhaled sharply, scrambling away from him, sleep-induced confusion still flooding her mind.

   “Hayden, shit...you scared me.” she began, propping herself on elbows as he beamed at her.

   “I'm sorry, I'm just so excited for today. I wanted to wake you, but you looked so peaceful...” His voice trailed off as he looked up at her sheepishly, running his hand through his dirty blonde hair. “Forgive me?”

   Kai rolled back towards him, planting her full lips to his forehead. “Yes. I've been looking forward to today, too. Although you still haven't told me what we're doing.”

    He smiled mischievously as he rose from the bed. “And I'm still not going to. You get dressed and I'll make us some breakfast, okay? Wear something comfy...and sensible shoes.”

        Kai cocked her head to the side at her boyfriend's advice, his award- winning grin making her body tingle. She threw back the comforter as Hayden left the room, the door clicking softly behind him.

    She showered and threw on a pair of denim capris coupled with one of Hayden's powder blue t-shirts. It was over sized and it hung down her shoulder a bit, revealing the black strap of her sports bra, so she tried to adjust it, twisting the bottom to one side and securing it in a knot just at her hip.

   She peered at her face in the mirror, tying her unruly red hair in a sloppy ponytail and applying a thin layer of cherry chapstick.

    Kai frowned in the closet doorway, looking over her shoe rack. Sensible shoes. Hayden's words echoed in her mind as she traced her fingers longingly over her beige wedges, deciding to wear her black tennis shoes instead.

     She rounded the corner into the kitchen to find Hayden scrambling eggs, and he extended his arm to hand her a coffee mug without looking away from the pan.

    “I was trying to sneak up on you.” She pouted, accepting the coffee.

    Hayden laughed out loud. “Not barreling down the hall like a herd of angry elephants.”

    Kai smized at him over the rim of her mug.

    “These sensible enough for ya?” She wiggled her foot in his direction and he glanced down with an approving nod.

        After breakfast Hayden grabbed a backpack from the closet by the front door and tossed it over his shoulder, grabbing Dipper's leash and his car keys. He patted his thigh and the chocolate border collie leapt from the couch, nose pointed at the door and tail wagging.

    “Well now I'm even more intrigued. Dipper and a backpack? Where are you taking me?” Kai mused as they headed for the car.

   “With everything that's happened-everything with Eros, Nadia and Steve's engagement, your new job, my new job, moving in together- it sort of feels like we're living in fast forward. I wanna take you someplace where we can just hit pause for a moment.”

     They drove for what felt like forever but was probably about an hour until Hayden pulled off the main road onto a tree lined dirt path.

    “Is this the part where you kill me in the woods?” Kai joked as she peered out the window. Dipper let out a low growl, her head whipping in Hayden's direction.

    “Traitor,” he laughed, ruffling the dog's ears.

   They finally arrived at a small clearing and the android pulled off to the side near the trees and put the car in park.

    “From here we go on foot.” He told her cheerfully. They both got out of the car and Kai's shoulders slumped.

   “You mean we aren't there yet?” she whined and her boyfriend chuckled.

   “Promise it will be worth it.”

     Dipper ran out ahead, reaching the pathway on the other side of the clearing long before her masters and she waited patiently, tail wagging and nose sniffing the air.

   Kai scratched the pups head, gesturing toward the path and Dipper took off never getting too far away.

    The fifteen minute hike was filled with jovial conversation and Kai could scarcely remember the last time she and Hayden had had a moment to just enjoy each other this way. It was nice, just the two of them with Dipper and the subtle sounds of the forest around them, so far off the grid that they couldn't hear the city anymore.

    Up ahead there was another clearing, visible through the parted trees at the end of the trail. Hayden smirked, “Almost there. That's where we're going.”

    He nodded and Kai squealed, the excitement almost overwhelming her. She picked up her pace, lacing her fingers in his and tugging him forward.

     The path opened up to a small meadow, wild flowers plentiful and down the way a bit there was a peaceful, pristine lake. Kai's eyes went wide with wonder.

   “Hayden, this is beautiful! It's almost as if this place has been completely untouched by civilization. It's...it's…”

   “Indescribable. And I mean that truly, it's not a glitch.”

    They both laughed, and Kai silently thanked her lucky stars that they had finally reached a place where Hayden was able to make light of himself. She had hated seeing him so miserable as he tried to sort himself out, and although she had supported him, she was glad that that time had passed.

    “So what's the plan? What's in the backpack?” she questioned as they made their way towards the lake.

   “A sleeping bag, a fire starter, lots of junk food, a couple of towels…”

  “Towels?”

   “In case we wanted to go swimming.”

   “But we don't have any suits.”

    Hayden stopped walking and stared at her unblinking. “Why the hell would we need suits?”

    Kai blushed as she whirled to face him. His faux- seriousness crumbling into a fit of shared giggles.

     Stretched out on the sleeping bag, towels and a blanket rolled beneath their heads Kai and Hayden watched the clouds roll by, white fluffy images in the sky that out here seemed endless.

      Kai rose from her spot, coyly eyeing the blonde man before her.

   “What? What is it?” his eyes squinting against the sun, now hanging low behind her in the early evening.

     Kai didn't answer him, she simply reached for the hem of her t-shirt, pulling the garment off in one fluid motion and flinging it at him.

   Hayden pulled the fabric from his face to find that her sports bra was gone as well and his jaw went slack as he watched her shimmy out of her capris and panties.

   “You said there'd be swimming, Mr Young, did you not?”

    Hayden scrambled to his feet, discarding his own clothes quickly as Kai scampered towards the lake.

    She hit the water running, her muscles tightening slightly as the cool water hit her, settling finally where the water was waist deep.

    “Okay, so I expected it to be warmer, but we can still enjoy this, I think.” he whispered in her ear and she gasped, a bit surprised as he slid his strong arms around her waist, pulling her back flush to his chest.

    He placed a soft, tender kiss to the crook of her neck, her hands resting on his forearms in front of her and they swayed together for a moment, the evening sun's rays glittering over their bodies and the crystal clear water around them.

  Without warning, Dipper hurled herself off of the bank, splashing the couple and ruining the mood.

   Kai cringed at the watery assault, spinning out of Hayden's arms and raising her own in a feeble attempt to shield herself.

   “Thanks, Dip.” Hayden laughed his nose scrunching up, droplets still rolling down his face. The border collie barked, tongue lolling and tail wagging.

    “I guess we wanted to swim, right?” Kai laughed.

    He grinned mischievously as his hand slowly skimmed the surface. He studied the water as he dipped his fingers in, savoring the sensation as he drug his hand through it, before cocking his head to the side to look at Kai.

    “No. Hayden, you wouldn't dare.” she said, eyes going wide.

     “I wouldn't?” he flicked his wrist, playfully splashing her as she squealed.

    “You're going to pay for that, Sweetheart.” She said, both of her arms dipping below the surface, sending a tidal wave in Hayden's direction.

    A water war broke out both parties splashing wildly, giggling all the while and when finally they tired Hayden noticed the sun had almost entirely set in the distance.

   “Wanna watch it together?” He asked his chin tipping in the distance to a near perfect view of the sunset.

   Kai nodded eagerly as they waded to the shore.

   After towel drying, Hayden laid out on the sleeping bag and Kai curled into him, her head resting on his chest as he cradled her and planted a kiss to the damp locks at the crown of her head. His fingertips absentmindedly grazed the length of her arm as they laid together, watching the oranges and pinks as the sun went down over the horizon.

    The world around them seemed so still, the tranquility was a feeling that Kai wasn't used to and it almost made her uncomfortable, her body tensing. As if he could read her mind, Hayden began to hum a tune, breaking the silence, and he felt her body relax against him.

    “Away, away; come away with me, where the grass grows wild and the winds blow free. Away, away; come away with me and I'll build you a home in the meadow..” Hayden sang softly, barely audible, but Kai could feel the rumble of his baritone voice reverberating through his ribs, vibrating her body soothingly.

   “I love it when you sing to me, Hayden.” she mused and he felt a smile bloom on her lips, against his chest.

  He gripped her arm, pulling her into a tight side hug.

   “If it makes you happy, I'll do it everyday.”

    Eventually, the sun was completely gone, replaced by the ethereal glow of the moon light and the flames from the fire Hayden had expertly constructed. Dipper plopped down at their feet with a sigh.

   “Is it bedtime, girl?” Kai asked and the dogs ears perked up briefly.

   “Maybe...maybe we could just stay out here tonight...Naked and peaceful. We don't have a tent, but I brought plenty of blankets. Dipper and I will keep you safe under the stars.”

     Hayden sat up, producing two more swaths of cloth from the bag.

   “How on Earth did you jam so much into that one backpack?” Kai mused, shaking her head.

   “Well I-”

    She cut his explanation short as she pressed her full lips to his, and he melted into the caress, his hand coming up to cup her cheek.

   “Today has been so perfect, I don't really want to head back to the city just yet.”

    She nudged him gently, coaxing him to lay back down. Hayden caught the hint and he grinned as she snuggled into him once more, drawing one of the blankets to her chin, wrapping them in the warmth of it and each other.

   “I'm already sold, Hayden. You couldn't make me leave now if you tried.”

   He craned his neck, looking down into her eyes as she traced her fingers along the smooth, flawless skin of his chest.

     “I love you, Kai, and you make it so easy to love you.”

     “I love you too, Hayden. Thank you. We really needed this trip. There's only one thing that could possibly make this better.”

    “Whatever it is, consider it done, Ms. Park.”

   “Sing me to sleep?” she bit her bottom lip as she made the request. The roll of his chuckle in his chest was delightful as he responded,

    “Of course I will.”

Anticipation.

Happy New Year! Did y’all enjoy your 2018 stats? We wanted to check in and let you know what we’re looking forward to in 2019, film-wise and otherwise.

First off, we are very close to launching push notifications for iOS and Android. All the dopamine hits can be yours! This will roll out as soon as we have completed the necessary safety checks. Stand by for an imminent launch.

Secondly, films. Films, films and more films. Get your 2019 “most anticipated” lists in order with the help of this 2019 tag and our official most anticipated in 2019 page, based mostly on what you all have in your collective watchlists. Predictably the top end is crammed full of superheroes and mutants, plus Tarantino and Scorsese. For something a little different, check out our own Crew Picks for 2019. Honestly, we could have chosen 50 but stopped at ten for sanity’s sake. And yes, we’re aware The Modern Ocean probably won’t be a reality this year but we can dreeeeeaaaaam.

We’ve also put together a list of 25 anticipated films by women directors in 2019, using a combination of what you’re most looking forward to, what our crew are waiting for, and what wider critics and film festivals have pegged as ones to watch.

We’ll know soon enough how some of these anticipated films will land: Sundance is in session, with the Berlinale and SXSW not far behind. Follow along with some of the Letterboxd folk who are at Sundance this year, or check in on the sundance-2019 tag. (Our West Coast editor Dom Corry will be firing through some reports this week.)

Planning to watch the 91st Academy Awards despite feeling personally attacked by all the snubs? We’ll be there with you, tweeting along during the ceremony. You should also bookmark the comments thread on this list of all nominated films, as that’s where we’ll invite community discussion on the day. (Hot damn, those push notifications are gonna come in handy!)

Finally, as our 2018 Year in Review disappears in the rear-view mirror, a few highlights as noted by the Letterboxd team:  

The mix of films in the overall Top 50 Highest Rated is a useful snapshot of where filmmaking is at in 2018: from the variety of genres to the slowly growing number of non-white protagonists, to the 11 women-directed films (up from last year’s three—and a much better statistic than this year’s zero female director Oscar nominees). It seems Hollywood is incrementally starting to resemble the rest of the world. We point this out because, as the Letterboxd community writes, time and again in your reviews, we are suckers for representation—and frankly, it doesn’t seem to affect box office negatively.

On that note, the non-English languages represented hard in the top films of 2018: Roma’s characters speaking in Spanish and Mixtec, Shoplifters in Japanese, and the people of Wakanda in isiXhosa, not to mention the non-verbal language of “Spidey-sense”.

2018 was a huge year for studios and superheroes: from the celebration of Black Joy and the afrofuturist art of Black Panther to the absolute explosion of the comic book style in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Letterboxd member reviews suggest what’s working is the attention to storytelling within the blockbuster form, whether it’s the brilliant reimagining of what makes a ‘bad guy’ tick in Black Panther or the subtle examination of the Brooklyn middle school system in Spider-Verse.

Some things never change: Scarlett Johansson was our most watched actress again (with the great Danai Gurira—Black Panther’s Okoye—close behind), and Samuel L. Jackson was our most watched actor, again.

This last fact made us curious about 2019 for Johansson and Jackson. Looking at Jackson’s slate, which has already kicked off with M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, he is undoubtedly on the fast-track to most watched again. He’ll be back as Nick Fury in Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far from Home, and he stars as John Shaft II in the new Shaft sequel/reboot, sandwiched between Richard Roundtree’s John Shaft and Jesse T. Usher’s John Shaft Jr. Then there’s Todd Robinson’s The Last Full Measure, and The Banker, a drama about 1950s entrepreneur Joe Morris, one of the first African American real estate scions.

Scarlett Johansson, meanwhile, is keeping 2019 slightly more chill with just three anticipated releases while she preps her Black Widow feature film: Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit, Avengers: Endgame, and an untitled Noah Baumbach project.
