Crazy how at the beginning of the season my first thought when Tommy was being brought up online was “who the fuck is that?” and "him and Buck would make no sense that's a reach" and now, only a couple months later, I kinda don’t even wanna imagine the show without him and it's so obvious to me how him and Buck fit together so perfectly in a way that I don't think anyone could have anticipated, even the writers.
I know this has been talked to hell and back but I genuinely think he’s got so much potential not just as a LI but also as a character on his own. There’s so much he could bring to the show in terms of storylines, those being personal or emergencies, that I don’t wanna see him go anytime soon (or anytime at all).

hate it when there’s already enough characters & they bring in a new one to take up all the attention from the already interesting characters. like ok. no one asked

In theory i like the idea that rick is growing and developing as a person. In practice it ends up falling short though, because no one balances him out. rick is getting better while no one else is getting worse, and it causes the whole thing to end up feeling a bit stale. The biggest draw, at least for me, has always been rick and morty's shitty dynamic, but it barely exists anymore because rick has been so watered down.
The ideal solution is literally just to make morty into a bigger asshole. Essentially flipping the main characters' personalities would offer a wide variety of conflict into the show, and would also help keep it "fresh".
Instead it feels the writers are pretending that they can't possibly do anything with morty's character, that they have to keep him the same anxious idiot he was in season one. I've said this before, but it's incredibly frustrating to watch the show have no problem with expanding rick's character while struggling with keeping morty's heavily stagnated characterization consistent. Where rick has space to develop between multiple seasons, morty is constantly forced into one of two boxes (smart/stupid) depending on the episode.

god I feel so legitimately bad for people whose 'fandom friends' make them feel like they have to continuously apologise for liking a fictional character.... like bestie 1) you do not have to apologise. love your blorbos without shame. 2) if people are making you feel like shit for liking, again, a fictional character... maybe they ain't your friends lol. 3) the problem is not you or the character. You can like any character ever and not need to 'justify' or 'explain' yourself. Or freaking beg for forgiveness for the sin of liking them.

What's so fun about BruJay as a ship is Jason's sheer obsessive devotion to Bruce. Jason is possessive over Bruce, to the point he doesn't care about the deaths of others so long as he has Bruce's attention. A part of the UTRH arc this isn't talked about enough is that Bludhaven fucking explodes mid-way and Jason won't let Bruce see if Dick is alive.
batman (1940) #650
A lot of discussion about UTRH paints Jason as this anger-driven cold, calculating machine up against Bruce when it's so clear that his love for Bruce is what drives him at his root, even if he won't acknowledge it. He says it himself, he would've done anything if it was Bruce who'd died instead of him and his anger is rooted in that possessive devotion not being reciprocated.
batman (194) #650
BruJay as a ship always to be, to some level, unrequited. Even if Bruce loves Jason back in that way, he'll never be that obsessed with Jason. Jason will always view Bruce's love for Dick or Tim to be a distraction, proof that Bruce isn't dedicated enough to him. Jason has the need to always have Bruce's attention, even when it could come at the cost of Bruce's other loved ones. Something something cannibalism as a metaphor for love in how Jason wants to consume Bruce's whole existence. He can't let Bruce leave him again, can't let Bruce love or grieve anyone else. Forcing Bruce to choose between Jason and the Joker isn't just about confronting Jason's killer, it's about confronting the other person who exists as this duality with Bruce and consumes so much of Bruce's life. That's the role Jason wants to fill, calling himself Red Hood and forcing Bruce to look at what he's become. But still loving Bruce and wanting more than anything for Bruce to reciprocate that love in the way that Jason understands. I just think it's good soup and rife with Dynamics that are underexplored with them.

you know what, I actually will talk about this because it's bothering me. The issue with focussing so heavily on syd and carmy's potential for a romantic relationship isn't that there's something inherently unintellectual about romance or whatever, it's that a lot of people seem incapable of doing that without immediately flattening the story and ignoring or intentionally misreading any and all nuance for the sake of that romance. Every scene suddenly becomes about how it impacts their relationship, every analysis is done through a romantic lens, every frame or line of dialogue becomes about finding some easter egg or hint that "proves" these people should start dating. Their dynamic is absolutely a fundamental part of this show, but if you can only see it as a will-they-won't-they, you miss so much of what the story is actually trying to say with these two.
There are good versions of this story where their relationship is romantic and there are good versions of this story where it isn't, but as soon as you decide them being together is "the point," you lose the ability to actually judge the story for what it is, not what you want it to be.

Y'all do know you can't make Jason be NOT white without changing his whole character, right?
For other characters, yes, because their physical appearance are not that influential in their story, on how they are viewed by people, on their personality formation — you can have a black/asian/indigenous/arab/brown/latino/etc Nico and yes, the hate he gets will have a undertone of racism but at the same time nothing significant on his story, motivation or personality will need to change. This is also true for other characters: Clarisse risks repeating the "aggressive WoC" stereotype but the character itself doesn't change.
This isn't true for Jason, whose main character trait is how he is perceived by others and how he showcases himself to others based on that perception. (specially with how little effort Riordan put on him besides making him perfect-er Percy who's somehow also weaker and less important than him).
Let's not pretend a black, Arab, indigenous, Asian, Latin man, etc, in the USA would ever be treated with the universal reverence Jason gets from New Roma, you can't have the illusion of perfection and most of all, of invincibility they have about him when you see him suffering racism or xenophobia in the middle of a mission. Nothing in his life has ever gone wrong, that's his image, destined to be king, he is supposed to have no weakness on his peers eyes.
He is not trying to prove people wrong, he is trying to prove them right; he isn't worthy despite their prejudice, on the contrary, he only tried to make himself worthy to fulfill their expectations. He can't be a woman or an immigrant or have a visible disability or any other thing that strays him from a perfect ideal by western society standards, and be that same character.

I am so tired of how Quotev/Wattpad level fanfiction, written by what reads as a 15 year old getting into their first fandom, gets pushed up the book ratings in the gay romance genre (m/m). Why is Red White and Royal Blue always at the top. Why is Boyfriend Material. Why must I suffer. Where are the standards. Why is a 30/40 year old recommending me, a grown adult man, stories that feel like they were written for highschoolers who don't like to read so they pick up the trashiest, most easily digestible shit in order to have the bare minimum of fun while doing their reading interpretation project for class.
This is coming from someone who had fun reading goddamn Twilight by the way. I'm not a book snob. I can enjoy objectively bad media if it's fun. My favourite book series with LGBT main characters is All For The Game, and that's a shitshow! But at least there's passion in it! There's fun!
I am going insane!!!!!

slight tw warning for scars that i didn't realize when i placed them could look like sh scars! they're not meant to be sh scars, but they could look like some... so be warned if you're sensitive to that sort of stuff
I finished a character line up for the feisty five!! i would've made each character more pscaed out but uh.. forgot to put Mooch's line art of a seperate layer from Starlo's so they're forced to be next to eachother (ya'll see why)
some of Moray's clothing details (the cloak being longer in the back, fin design on the collar, etc) is ideas from other people! that i decided to put into my own interpretation of them! same with Ed being an armadillo and some of Ace's details as well
your honor i will admit i play favorites and it fucking shows

I completely agree with your take
Like I tried to like Robin, I really did, I’ve read about her and do find her story a lil interesting but i just can’t seem to care
In my head it’s just the original foxes and that’s it lol
No space for anybody else in my head just them
ahahaha honestly I think if I allowed myself to like her I'd probably eat it up I just selfishly never like new characters esp with a cast that's already tight. and I don't want the ogs to like anyone else either (LMAOOO toxic much?) because what do you mean Neil is going to make another friend? what do you mean Andrew is going to like anyone else? and like akdhhsjs whenever I remember that Coach will have lots of other kids after these bitches it feels like treachery. like a personal attack. you're just going to cheat on us like that :/ your own children :/ you're just going to move on :/ you're not going to retire as soon as Neil leaves :/ were we not enough for you :/ it's just one relationship to the next with you :/ fake bitch :/ I think I've gone off topic...
but yeah same. it's one of the only parts of the ec i don't pay much attention to. i do think she'd be an interesting character but I don't want her making moves on my gang. there's very limited space in my heart unfortunately and I want them to MYSELF (and to themselves)
