Cammie had mentioned the students from Beacon were here, had been training with the Ace Ops, and Val just had to see for himself. It had been a frequent discussion among their little group, and they'd all been intrigued, interested in the group of fighters.

They'd all done quite well in the tournament, after all, and well, with the way Cammie spoke of them, they were all that much more intriguing.

"Training hard, are you?" he asked with a grin, leaning forward on the bench outside of the training room. "I've heard great things."

Sadly there isn't a lot of representation for us genderfluid folks in the media, but I tried my best to compose a list (keep in mind that I haven't read/seen all of these, so some of the representation might not be the best, sorry about that!!):

Brothers, she is bored -- feeling forever trapped in this ballroom, in the vice grip of her dress which felt like a unique form of torture, bouncing from one inane conversation to another. It was endless, the vain attempts at making small talk. The weather. Politics. How's your father, how's your mother? Who are you wearing?

She wants to scream, but keeps it inside, festering and twisting. So much so that she barely hears the voice that attempts to cut in over her internal torment.

It's the hand that enters her periphery, moving between her and the young up-and-comer that catches her attention more than the words, and Winter breaks out of her thoughts to turn and see who had approached.

Val...? Winter knows them, vaguely -- knows of them more than anything else, not seeing the operative in their day to day with the scientists or the special-ops. They had looked different, the first time they met, she notes distantly. The hand is still offered, and Winter realizes what the question had to have been -- a dance? Saving her from yet another boring conversation, another hour of being spoken over?

"Please." Slipping her hand into Val's, Winter forces a polite smile to the poor boy she is leaving behind before following out to the dance floor. "...I wasn't aware you danced, Romanyszyn."

Genderfluid Pride Icons

For Pride Month 2021, I will be celebrating and highlighting 31 canonically LGBT+ characters. Today’s character is Val/entina Romanyszyn from gen:LOCK, who is canonically genderfluid, going by Valentina and using she/her pronouns when identifying as female, and going by Val and using he/him pronouns when identifying as male. Due to this, they are exclusively referred to with neutral they/them pronouns in press releases.

(Please forgive me and correct me if I have used any incorrect terminology here. I have precisely zero first hand experience with genderfluidity and am very likely to have gotten something wrong.)
