Synopsis: what they do when you can't sleep

"What are you even still doing up?" They'd ask, sleepily rubbing their eyes.

"Can't sleep," You'd respond.

They had a semi annoyed look on their face before sighing.

"You're not even trying." They lay back down beside you, wrapping their arms around your waist and resting their head on your shoulder.

"I am..." you said.

"No you're not. Your eyes aren't even closed." They lazily trace the features on your face with their finger before giving you a quick peck on the cheek.

"Now close your eyes, dummy."

"Hm? Are you still awake? At this hour?" Their expression shifts into one of worry.

"Oh I just can't fall asleep. That's all.." you say in an attempt to shake their concern.

"No no no, that simply won't do." They get up from the bed and start walking towards the door.

"Where are you going-?" You lean up on the bed.

"Don't worry about it too much. I'll be right back." They give you a soft smile that you can barely see in the dark before exiting the room.

It doesn't take long before they come back with a cup of freshly made tea.

They take a seat on the bed next to you and hand you the cup.

"Now... is there anything else you need? I can pick out a good story to read... or maybe youd prefer somthing else?"

They sigh before getting onto the bed and laying down on your lap.

"If you're going to pull an all-nighter, you might as well do it with me."

Feeling flustered and embarrassed, you excused yourself from the table and stepped outside, hoping to catch a breath of fresh air. The cool night breeze did little to calm your rattled nerves, until a voice, melodious and comforting, reached your ears.

"Rough night?" The voice belonged to a waiter from a nearby café. He had a welcoming smile and bright cerulean eyes that seemed to shimmer with kindness. He introduced himself as Venti, the cafe's cheerful and charismatic waiter.

You found yourself pouring out the details of your disastrous date to Venti, who listened with genuine interest and a sprinkle of lighthearted chuckles. His easygoing nature put you at ease, and for the first time that evening, you felt a genuine smile tugging at your lips.

"Tell you what," Venti said, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "To make up for your less-than-stellar evening, how about I treat you to some of our finest boba? It's on the house."

You blinked in surprise at his offer, your heart warming at the unexpected kindness. With a grateful nod, you followed Venti back into the cafe. The atmosphere inside was cozy, with soft music playing in the background and the sweet aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air.

As you sat down at a table, Venti returned with a tray of colorful boba drinks. He placed one in front of you, a combination of flavors that he assured would lift your spirits. The first sip was a burst of flavor that seemed to chase away the remnants of your bad day, and you couldn't help but let out a contented sigh.

"See?" Venti grinned. "A little boba can work wonders!"

 Know, the caffeine fiend, is indeed waiting for coffee with probably too much sugar and too many espresso shots. He turns his head to look at the woman behind him right when she mutters under her breath. "Oh what is it? I'm not allowed to be tall?" He said what he assumes to be whatever grievance the stranger has with him. It wouldn't be the first time someone has told him he was too tall.

She looks at him, and her face shows her confusion with a bit disgust. Wearing her heels she is a full 10 centimeters longer than the boy who just said he isn’t allowed to be tall. Her eyes find his and she shakes her head- obviously annoyed and nods at the scene in front of them where the lady is now loudly discussing the consistency of maple syrup with the poor barista’s. There are multiple people now also behind them so the line is growing steadily.

“No, I was talking about that…” she steps closer to underline that it wasn’t his height she had a problem with (but by now she has a problem with his attitude…)
