Vermax
(from the fanfic, The Man in the Pearl Mask)
Domain: God of boundaries, travel, communication, trade, language, and writing
Title: The Cunning
Family position: Son of Aegarax and Meleys, husband of Tessarion, father of Syrax
Personality: Mischievous, far-sighted, never forgets a debt
Appearance: A wide mouth and a black robe, wears gold ribbons around his arms that can make a loop to show visions of the present and future (with his wife’s help), gold eyes like two coins
Distinctive feature: Bird legs - usually covered by his robe
Animal aspect: Raven with gold bands around the legs.
Inspirations: Loki, Hermes
Stories of Vermax are some of the most numerous among the myths that survived Old Valyria. Mostly, thanks to him spending much of his time around mortals and his love of telling stories of his brilliance. He preferred their company to that of the other gods. The stories of Vermax are as numerous as their authenticity is doubtful.
What is not in doubt, however, is that he was the son of Meleys and Aegarax. He grew up watching his parents’ marriage fall apart and often sought refuge in the mortal realm. There, while his family was distracted, he learned the ways of creating mischief throughout the lands and developed great pleasure in hoodwinking the powerful freeholders or tricking heroes into their doom.
He might have become more mean-spirited in his pranks if not for Balerion. After a particularly vicious one resulted in the sinking of an entire navy, Balerion confronted him. Vermax responded as usual with scorn and a witty retort. Balerion, however, was not one for wit. With his mother’s help (for Vermax had also drowned one of her favourite heroes with his prank), he set his own trap for Vermax. Tyraxes offered Vermax the opportunity to help Balerion find out where a dead captain had hidden his gold.
Vermax, already thinking of how he could mislead the mortals to their doom over the promise of treasure, followed Tyraxes into the underworld. There, Tyraxes sprang her trap. She had him bound to a rock and had Shrykos (who had often been the victim of his japes) hang over him in her snake form, dripping venom into his eyes.
So it was for a hundred years. And that resulted in a hundred years of strife between the gods. Though Arrax was King, Meleys was keen to remind them all of her power. In her fury at her son’s continued imprisonment, she turned brother against brother, common against noble and all surrounding kingdoms against the freehold. She pulled apart bonds of friendship, family and alliance until there scarce seemed a single person in the Freehold that was not at war with someone. Even Vhagar grew weary of the constant fighting with rewards that soon turned to ash when the next conflict broke out.
It only got worse as time went on and each petition to release Vermax was rejected. Balerion, after all, is the most implacable of the gods. Even when he saw (to his great pertubation) so many more children and innocents enter his realm, he still believed this honest fighting was better than Vermax’s deceits. Shyrkos, too, enjoyed punishing Vermax perhaps a little too much.
At last, when the Freehold looked close to collapsing under its own weight of troubles, Tyraxes relented and told her son to release him. Shrykos protested but Balerion saw sense and released him but with the strong warning that he could imprison him again if Vermax resumed his pranks.
So, the restoration of the Freehold began. But, this was not to be easily accomplished. So much damage had been done that would take centuries to repair. Vermax saw the damage and, rather than feel shame, he saw an opportunity. He came to Arrax and Tyraxes and offered them a bargain. He would use his powers over trade, communication and writing to repair the broken bonds and bring the Freehold back to prosperity - but he must be allowed to have his own little japes to make the labours more enjoyable.
Balerion was outraged at this but Arrax, who had become so very tired of all this strife, agreed. And, Vermax was as good as his word. The Freehold enjoyed a golden age with the help of Vermax’s silver tongue and far-sighted reasoning. And, he never let the gods forget it. Especially when he was brought before the gods to explain himself for his latest jape.
Though, it cannot be said that he completely went back to his old ways. Half of his japes were in service of the Freehold and what the other gods wished and the other half could be atoned for with a service for them. He was still a trickster but one who made sure he was too useful to be discarded.

Vermithor: god of the sky and ruler of the fourteen flames.
Tumblr media
Balerion: god of the underworld and king of the dead.
Tumblr media
Meraxes: queen of the gods, goddess of motherhood, marriage and protector of women.
Tumblr media
Caraxes: god of war, cruel and violent, counterpart of Vhagar. Taking into account that Caraxes and Vhagar killed each other in the canon, this gods seem to me the most suitable to be the Ares and Athena of this universe xd
Tumblr media
Syrax: goddess of love and beauty, I also think it's great that she is the equivalent of Aphrodite since she and Ares were lovers and they were caught together xd, so the names of Daemon and Rhaenyra's dragons seem like destiny to me 🤣.
Tumblr media
Vhagar: goddess of war and wisdom, counterpart of Caraxes.
Tumblr media
Meleys: goddess of hunting and wild animals, represented with bow and arrows, since Meleys was very fast can I imagine that she was named in honor of the Valyrian equivalent of Artemis? I don't know xd.
Tumblr media
Tessarion: goddess of agriculture and spring, it seems to me that Demeter is a good equivalent of Tessarion, since she was Daeron's dragon, the Hightower come from the Reach, fertile and prosperous lands, and Demeter is also represented in very green environments 😅
Tumblr media
Vermax: There is no better name than the god of the seas for the dragon of Corlys' "grandson", that prince "velaryon" (cough ...Strong 😂) who "would inherit the throne". So well I assumed it would be the Poseidon of Valyrian mythology.
Tumblr media
Arrax: messenger god and the one who guides souls to the underworld....I think that for Lucerys' dragon...it's pretty good. So yes, it would be the equivalent of Hermes.
Tumblr media
PD: The background is in relation to the dragon named in his honor in the canon, this is just an opinion, you can think differently 😂 since there is no canonical information.
Bye 🫶🏻

The First Queen
Aegon II Targaryen x niece!Reader
Important notice: in this series reader has features of Ser Harwin, including Brown hair and tone of skin.
Previous chapter Next Chapter
First Chapter
Tumblr media
Just like her mother, young Y/N was given the nickname, the Sunshine of the Castle. The girl was already 2 years old, by this time Princess Rhaenyra had another son, Luceris, Luke for his loved ones. The little prince also has dark curls, which are unusual for a Targaryen. Ser Laenor's three children do not look like him in appearance, it is too early to talk about the similarity of character, but despite all the gossip within the walls of the Red Castle, he spends all his time with all the children. Jayce teaches how to hold a sword and parry blows, walks with Y/N in the garden and helps catch butterflies, which are then carried to Helaena and the three of them look at them, and together with Luke watches the dragon egg, which is in the cradle.
Dragons. As one of the last houses to survive the Doom of Valyria, dragons became a family trait within House Targaryen, along with platinum hair and violet eyes. With the help of dragons, they captured Westeros, protected the dynasty, conquered new lands and connections, and conquered the skies. They say that the Targaryens are closer to gods than to people. But sometimes even the gods do terrible things, it all depends on the dragon riders.
Jace's egg has already hatched and a new resident, Vermax, has appeared in the Dragonpit. The dragon keepers say that even at his young age, Vermax avoids the cold in every possible way and tries to be close to other, older dragons. For example, Sunfyre.
The golden dragon belongs to Aegon and is similar in character to its rider. A nosy and nimble dragon cannot stay in one place for more than a day. The catacombs of the Dragon's Lair seem to be suffocating him, so his mood changes dramatically when the dragon is brought out to the prince. While the small dragon always approaches its owner with joy and excitement in its eyes. Dragon keepers would swear they've seen Aegon hugged his arms around a dragon's neck a couple of times.
And his sister, young Helaena, during walks with her father in the dragon’s lair, shows a special interest in the Dreamfyre. The dragon also reacts calmly to her presence and even allowed herself to be touched.
The situation was different for peers, Aemond and Y/N. Their eggs did not hatch and the children were too young to understand what was happening. Some say that the year of their birth was cursed, others say that it is a punishment for the fact that the origin of Rhaenyra's children is called into question, but then what does Aemond have to do with it. The boy inherited all of his father's Valyrian features, Platinum hair and purple eyes.
Everyone thought. No, hoped that the eggs would hatch over time, but two years is already quite a long time. The firstborn of King Viserys 1 has already spoken to her father that if Syrax lays the clutch, then she is ready to give her daughter a new egg, she is even ready to give Aemond one, as a sign of goodwill for his mother.
Once old friends, now they meet only on certain occasions. The queen and princess, who once communicated warmly and cordially, now greet each other with cold glances and the proper courtesies that the royal court expects from them.
The relationship finally deteriorated when Lord Otto Hightower, the queen's father, was removed from his position as Hand. From that moment on, Alicent did not believe a single word of her former friend. There were a lot of lies, they flowed through the Red Castle like streams, flowing down the steps, parapets and entrevolts into the ears, penetrating into the common sense and hearts of all the inhabitants of the castle.
Therefore, when the queen caustically noted that for some strange reason the Baratheon genes outplayed the strong genes of the Targaryens, Velaryons and even the Arryns three times, this only created another reason for new whispers in the dark corners of the castle.
Now the royal family will have to meet again and put on fake smiles for everyone around them. For the second time in a year, the king announced a royal hunt. Two moons ago they were dedicated to Prince Aemond, second son of King Viserys. The boy turned two years old and his curiosity about everything around him began to awaken. Especially to his father's model of ancient Valyria, he often walked around him, and Viserys sometimes helped him, lifting him into his arms and showing the figures closer. The prince especially liked miniatures of dragons, which he only had in toy format and could never emit real fire.
Today, the royal hunt was dedicated to the second anniversary of Princess Y/N, the king’s granddaughter from his beloved daughter. The girl was wearing a light blue dress. It reached to the ground, and there was a rectangular cutout under the neck to make the princess feel comfortable under the summer sun. The sleeves barely reached the elbows and their bottoms were framed by flowers made of silver fabric. The skirt of the dress was also inlaid with silver threads and small stones.
Despite the obvious colors of House Velaryon in the costume of the young heiress, the head was still adorned with now long brown hair, like the other offspring of Princess Rhaenyra. The hair shimmered brightly under the sun's rays and made it a warmer shade than it originally was.
In the clearing in the middle of the Royal Forest, tents were already erected, and the servants were urgently making final preparations. The united coat of arms of House Targaryen and Velaryon fluttered in the wind, and the standards fit tightly into the ground. The clearing gradually filled with guests, lords and ladies from different parts of Westeros. Any event in the royal family means the possibility of potential alliances, which is why many noble families were present today, despite other plans and assignments.
But all this did not worry the young Targaryen heirs. Three royal carriages were almost approaching the scene of the event. The first was the King and Queen's carriage. Alicent sat inside, heavily pregnant. The maesters said that in one moon the queen would give birth to another child for the king of the seven kingdoms.
On her lap sat the princess of Helaena. The girl played with her long platinum hair, some of which was braided. Her light green dress shone from the rays coming through the window.
Sitting on Viserys' lap was his second son, Aemond. The two-year-old prince was looking at pictures in a book about his ancestors, about Aegon and his two conquering sisters. He especially looked at the illustrations of dragons.
To their right sat Aegon, the prince was talking about something with his father, when the latter handed him a goblet of wine.
“Viserys,” Alicent shouted. "He is only six years old," the queen was unhappy with her son's affinity for wine.
“He is already six years old,” the king commented good-naturedly and with a smile. “Even more so, it’s diluted,” after these words, Viserys shook his head approvingly towards Aegon, mentally giving permission to try the drink. The prince took a sip and broke into a smile.
Suddenly the carriage hit a stone and the remaining wine from the goblet spilled onto Aemond’s book, covering Vhagar’s drawing with a dark red stain. Two-year-old Aemond was clearly unhappy with this and hit his brother with his small fist. The carriage suddenly filled with noise in an attempt to calm the dragon's offspring.
But this was not heard in the next cart. Princess Rhaenyra was stationed there with her husband Ser Laenor and two children, Jacaerys and Y/N. It was decided to leave the newborn Luke in the castle under the supervision of maesters and midwives. The little girl tried to fall asleep, burying herself in her father's side, while Jace, on the contrary, tried to start a conversation. For a three year old he was very active. And now he was trying to teach his sister to pronounce his full name.
“Come on, tell Jacaerys,” the prince had been trying for ten minutes.
“Jace,” the girl said and laughed, seeing her brother’s dejected face. Rhaenyra also grinned and turned to the first child, "Don't worry, she will say your full name someday, right now it's still hard for her, she's only two years old."
“I hope it will be easier with Luke,” Jace said and frowned. Y/N carefully approached him and carefully hugged her brother.
“Jace,” she said and smiled. Jacaerys was no longer dissatisfied and smiled, “Well, at least I’m her favorite relative.” Everyone grinned.
“Favourite relative,” Y/N said carefully and in syllables and hugged her brother tighter.
The third carriage carried the rulers of Driftmark, Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen. They were discussing Laena, who had recently given birth. She gave birth to Damon's two daughters, Bail and Reyna. The babies were not even a year old. They now live in Pentos and due to the danger of travel for the girls, they were unable to come to King's Landing. Although before pregnancy, they visited Westeros and Leina became quite close friends with Rhaenyra. Eyewitnesses say that they often saw three dragons flying together. Caraxes, Vhagar and Syrax.
Now, when the clatter of the hooves of the royal horses can be heard from the clearing, the musicians line up holding the fanfare high. Golden chimneys shine and shimmer under the rays of the sun, and the coats of arms of the Targaryen and Velaryon houses hang proudly in a row. The sounds of music spread throughout all the tents, the invited guests head to the meeting place of the main persons of this holiday.
The carriages drove into the clearing and, to the deafening claps of the guests, the Royal Family went outside. The fanfare blew so loudly that six-year-old Aegon covered his ears in displeasure and there was some disgust on his face. But it soon disappeared, when he saw Rhaenyra’s only daughter, his niece.
It was unusual, but something attracted him to her. From the moment of her birth, Aegon made sure to spend time with her. He looked at her in the cradle and gave her small toys from his own collection. Hell, he even let her slobber all over him just to see her smile. And now, when the holiday was in full swing, he wanted to see her. But his mother distracted him.
The birthday girl of this celebration sat in her mother's arms as she spoke with the chief of the city guard, Harwin Strong.
“Princess, I also have a small gift for you,” Harwin said with a smile. He handed a small toy into the girl's hands. It was a white wooden horse whose mane was decorated with green, red and blue colors. Those colors that decorated the coat of arms of the House of Strong. The girl examined the gift and then poked it in Harwin’s chest, where that very coat of arms was and smiled.
“You have a bright child growing up, a rare combination of intelligence and beauty,” Harwin chuckled. Princess Rhaenyra also smiled and lightly patted the baby's head. Y/N and she really was smart, she often saw Ser Harwin and how he spoke to her mother. Therefore, the next phrase plunged the two adults into a slight stupor.
“Favorite relative,” Y/N squealed happily and stretched out her arms in an attempt to hug Harvin. Rhaenyra looked around sharply, trying to figure out if anyone had heard this phrase. Harvin was a little embarrassed, but in his heart he was pleased, although he understood that all this was wrong.
“No, Y/N, you can’t say that,” Rhaenyra said. The baby frowned and did not understand the reason. When she said this to Jace, her mother was pleased, but now she scolds her. Harwin asked her to cheer up the baby.
“How does the horse gallop?”
“Clunk clunk,” the girl imitated, picking up the toy, and then laughed with Harwin. After that, Rhaenyra smiled guiltily and went to the royal tent.
“I would like a niece like this,” said Laris, who suddenly appeared.
There was fun in the royal tent. Wine flowed in streams, and bards entertained the high-ranking guests. Y/N sat on the carpets next to other children and looked at the toy. The color red reminded her of her mother, grandfather and all the Targaryens. Blue was similar to the color of her father and relatives from Driftmark. And Green, who did green remind her of? His. Aegon.
The prince appeared in her field of vision and the girl smiled at him, stood up and hugged him. Aegon chuckled and sat down next to her.
“You,” Y/N exclaimed and first pointed to the green line on the horse, and then to his green tunic.
“Yes, Green,” said Aegon
“Gween,” Y/N repeated incorrectly.
“Gween,” the prince assured with a grin and thought for a couple of seconds. Suddenly an idea popped into his head and he tried to implement it. "Do you know my name?"
The girl thought and blinked her eyes a couple of times in confusion. Y/N frowned and shook her head in denial.
“I am Aegon. Can you repeat that? Ae-Gon,” the prince pronounced his name syllable by syllable and looked at her expectantly. After a couple of attempts the girl exclaimed
“Aegon,” Y/N started laughing and Aegon smiled from ear to ear. Jace, who was sitting next to him at the time, frowned and became indignant.
“Why can you say his name, but not mine,” the prince exclaimed displeasedly.
“It’s obvious, nephew, I’m her favorite relative,” Aegon said and Y/N smiled
“Aegon, Beloved Relative,” said the princess and buried herself in Aegon’s chest, hugging him with her small arms. The prince blushed.
“At least I still have Luke,” Jace muttered dissatisfied and continued to play.

Valyrian Pantheon Headcanons
We know the names of 5 of the Valyrian gods and that's it. We don't know anything about the practices or even what those gods were patrons of. Here is my headcanon reconstruction of the pantheon ^_^
I think the Fourteen Flames (the volcanoes) are named for fourteen gods who constitute the main pantheon, similar to the 12 Greek Olympians or the 12 Roman Dei Consentes. There are many minor gods, usually personifications of concepts like seasons/emotions.
I imagine them like Egyptian gods, who are personified sometimes as humans, sometimes as animals, sometimes as animal-headed humanoids. I imagine the main fourteen as dragons, though idk how silly that would look lol.
I think they were also androgynous gods. Why? That's fun. That's so fun. Dragons are theorised to be hermaphroditic/intersex who can change their sex at will, but also are referred to as she-dragons if they are confirmed to lay clutches of eggs. So some of these gods are gods, and some are goddesses, despite being a-gender
Canonical Gods
BALERION: I believe Balerion's name is at least a little inspired by Ba'al, an ancient Semitic god who was very important to the religions of the region (Canaan, Babylon, etc) and features as a false god in the Hebrew bible. I think he's the King of the gods, like Zeus. God of war or fire or conquest or all of the above. Many ancient gods shifted their patronage and powers.
VHAGAR: Consort of Balerion, similar to Hera. Goddess of war/wisdom, similar to Athena. I think this fits a person like Visenya.
MERAXES: Perhaps a concubine of Balerion? Like how Zeus had thousands of lovers. Metis, Leto, Demeter, etcetera. Goddess of love, because Rhaenys seems like a woman who enjoyed love and life. Perhaps also a goddess of marriage?
SYRAX: It's gotta be someone Rhaenyra would think is cool. Perhaps a goddess of the sun/moon? Another war goddess? A queen? Actually, perhaps Syrax is the Hera of the pantheon, while Vhagar is not necessarily virginal like Athena but 'unmarried' so to speak. Goddess of beauty/wealth would also fit Rhaenyra. Goddess of the sun or moon would be fun in opposition to Sunfyre.
BOASH: called 'The Blind God' Mentioned as the god the Lorathi worship, whose religious followers (dissidents of the Valyrian Freehold) founded the city of Lorath. The name doesn't follow the typical Valyrian naming traditions, perhaps he was originally Boax/Boaxes? Would be fun. He's a very esoteric god connected to 'higher truths', the priests are eunuchs and the followers are vegetarian teetotalers and a main tenant is that everyone is equal. They also wear hair shirts which is an old Christian practice. I think he's a version of a Valyrian death god
the BLACK GOAT: Whose followers founded Qohor. I think he's a minor god, perhaps of magic or agriculture even, agricultural deities tend to be very important to common folk. However the goat imagery evokes Satan and Baphomet, so I think a villainous or death deity would be fun.
Non-canonical gods
A lot of the Targ dragons are given names with similar naming style to the canonical god dragons.
VERMITHOR & VERMAX: The naming conventions of Vermax and Vermithor intrigue me... I think one is the name of the God and one is a theophoric name in reference to the god. Perhaps a god of justice, law, order, etc, since they were the dragons of Jaehaerys and Jacaerys and I can see them picking that kind of God.
ARRAX: Lucerys names his dragon this, so I think a coming-of-age god or god of youths would be fun since he, yknow, got eated at 14.
CARAXES: This is Daemon's dragon so I'm saying Caraxes is the Dionysus/Hermes trickster god. Daemon picking the bacchanalian drunk sex god for his dragon is real to me.
MELEYS: Rhaenys TQWNW's dragon. Rhaenys gives off SUCH demeter vibes idk so agricultural god would be fun but idk i don't think she'd pick something like that. Perhaps its based off of Meraxes since Rhaenys is her namesake. Perhaps an oceanic or weather-based god.
MORGHUL: Morghul is simply the word for death in High Valyrian e.g. 'Valar Morghulis', but I like it as a euphemistic name for a God of death. Like his name is so tabboo that you just refer to him as death, or he's just named death in relation to afterlife, like how Hades refers to both the god and the underworld. I think perhaps Boash and the Black Goat are actually interpretations/aspects of the same deity, perhaps a death - morghul - god.
SHRYKOS: Sick name sorry just had to say that. He's Jaehaerys (son of Helaegon)'s dragon. got no clue what he could be a god of cos jaehaerys is a plot device character. I think he's just a cool Valyrian word, like Morghul, since Jaehaerys and Jaehaera are twins. Be fun if they picked life/death dichotomy for their dragons :p
TERRAX: ridden by the pre-doom character Jaenara Belaerys, who flew further south in Sothoryos than anyone else. God(dess) of travel/wisdom/conquest/oceans would be fun since she's a traveller who flew across oceans and sort of exemplifies the Valyrian conquest/adventurer spirit.
TESSARION: Okay the blue queen has to be a goddess of the ocean or the sky<3
TYRAXES: Joffrey's dragon :) I think a god of animals would be cute also cos he sounds like T-rex. I would name my dragon T-rex. Possibly a bastardisation of Terrax though...
URRAX: This is the name of a legendary/fairytale dragon from the story of Serwyn and Daeryssa from the Age of Heroes. By Daeryssa's naming convention and the fact she is mentioned only in AGOT, I think she was perhaps supposed to be a Targaryen before GRRM had established a full history. I think he's just a bastardisation of perhaps a Valyrian god like Arrax.
So my vision of the Valyrian pantheon includes Balerion, Vhagar, Meraxes, Syrax, Vermithor, Arrax, Caraxes, Terrax, Tessarion, which is 9 gods
plus Meleys and Tyraxes who I'm not sure if I want to be referring to above gods or just the name of a god entirely, which makes 11
Adding a death god (Boash, Black Goat, Moghul) makes 12,
which leaves another two unnamed for my personal idea of a Valyrian pantheon :)

Ewan: One answer. Vhagar. She is the oldest, baddest dragon in the known world. She is named after the old Valyrian God of War. And she is the hardened survivor of over a hundred battles. I don’t want to throw shade on Syrax and Vermax but they’ve not seen what Vhagar has seen. But June 16…she will teach them. ✍🏻 in this essay I will ✍🏻✍🏻

The steed of Rhaenyra’s thirdborn son, Joffrey, Tyraxes was a growing dragon with a lot of potential. He was slightly smaller than Vermax and Arrax, and at the time of the Dance, he was able to fly long distances but not big enough to fight.
Tyraxes, who was named after one of the gods of Old Valyria, meant ‘justice’ in High Valyrian. The offspring of Syrax, Tyraxes takes after his mother in terms of appearance. Although more of a light grey, with accents of blue and silver, he had a horse-like snout and protruding horns.
Like all dragons, Tyraxes echoed the same traits as his rider. So, although Joffrey was young, he was adamant in playing a role in the war against the Greens. He wanted to defend his House, his family and most importantly taking revenge against his brother. Tyraxes followed suit and never went against orders. They were both headstrong and resilient.

I spent the past two hours charting out how the dragons are related in Stormbreak trying to see if we have any more double dragon foreshadowing. You've created a monster Bella. A monster.
oh god you should have asked me!! i made that spreadsheet ages ago ahaha. i updated it a bit recently (namely changed my guesstimate of tessarion's age) compared to the other dragon spreadsheet i've posted. and i haven't posted it bc not all of the eggs had been introduced yet. but now i can! sorry it came too late to save you the time...

this is the schema i've made for the history of which dragons have laid clutches and when. obviously most of this is headcanon, but i've tried to work it into canon timelines as i usually do. this doesn't include every dragon ofc, i really just made it for stormbreak purposes. some fun things to note:
terrax is technically from the same clutch as the eggs that will become dany's dragons, though at this point in time her siblings are all fossilized and essentially dead. also, dany's eggs were all laid at harrenhal, aka a hotspot for valyrian magic...
syrax and sunfyre are from the same clutch. i think it's why sunfyre died after eating rhaenyra in canon. also the parallels of both him and aegon being basically the last survivors of their families...
tessarion, vermax, and moondancer are all from the same clutch, though they were all separated and hatched at different times.
baby aegon and viserys were given eggs laid by caraxes.
caraxes is a bit stunted and is only able to lay small clutches of an individual egg. she's trying her best okay??
vhagar is also a bit stunted bc she's so old. fertility declines with age, after all. so her clutches are also unusually small.
balerion was the only dragon out of the conquering trio that was completely infertile. just to parallel the "aegon i was infertile" theory that i love.
vermithor was laid by vhagar while visenya was pregnant with maegor and the egg was likely placed in maegor's cradle but never hatched. it makes rhaena taking the egg and putting it in jaehaerys's cradle even more badass, especially if you subscribe to the theory of her being a dreamer.
rhaenys had a miscarriage two years before she had aenys, where meraxes laid a clutch of eggs in anticipation of a baby that never came.

Poessive Gods
I had this idea from the Au I am doing on Ao3, it’s called Do You wish for This?, under Anon but it’s a Aemond/Lucerys fic. But it involves the gods of old Valyria being fucking creeps and...well...
Chapter 1?
The air was tense, so tense that a knife could cut through it and show the air beneath it.
And in an instant it shifted.
Queen Alicent had grabbed Ageon’s dagger from her husband and turned, intent on taking Lucerys Velaryon’s eyes before all the witnesses before them and the boy screamed.
But instead of his mother coming to stop her, someone else did.
A man dressed in robes of gleaming white and gold, hair purer than snow and eyes of burning amber locked arms with the queen. His fang teeth bared in warning as his clawed hands gripped her wrists.
“Do not…hurt him,” he hissed, everyone stepped back as the man had magically appeared.
“My queen!” Cole had called out, rushing to her aid before a similar man with forest green hair and bright red eyes stopped him, snarling right at him as a woman appeared, hair a fiery red and eyes a bright orange as she looked around before standing in front of Rhaenyra.
Protecting them.
“W…Who are you,’ Alicent demanded, gasping as she was pushed back into Ser Harrold’s grip and she finally got a good look at him.
His eyes were that akin to a Dragons and his skin was littered with patches of pearlescent white scales.
“...I am Arrax,” he grinned, Viserys making a choking noise but he ignored him, turning to look at Rhaenyra who stiffened under his gaze before it moved to her left.
To Lucerys.
And Arrax smiled.
“....My boy,” he breathed, striding forward and kneeling down as the green haired one released Cole and turned to the Blacks, looking for someone as well. “My Lucerys,” he cupped his face, smiling as the boy looked to his mother confused. “Finally for you to see me….”
“Jacaerys,” the other male smiled, kneeling down with a grin and arms open. “My boy! It is I! Vermax!”
“....L…Lord Vermax…” Rhaenyra was near the point of passing out as more appeared from the shadows, all adored with patches of scales and one with hair as dark as night coming to her father.
“...Sit. You need rest Viserys,” his voice was soft, deep, commanding and Viserys knew who it was in an instant.
“....Balerion…” he breathed in awe as those of Valyrian descent shifted away in fear from the god of death.
He seemed to not notice, offering a kind smile to the king who felt at ease around him.
“...Aye,” he nodded, pulling up a chair for the ill king who fell upon it in shock.
“....To what do we owe a visit from the gods of Valyria,’ Daemon asked, looking round with apprehension as he held Dark Sister in a tight grip.
“Down boy, nothing is to happen to you,” a man with flowing auburn locks snorted, coming beside him. “...But it’s what I like about you.”
“...Caraxes.”
“...In the flesh,” he smirked. “Vhagar! Get out here and see your bonded child,” he quipped, turning to the hidden alcove by the fireplace where a man was standing in the shadows.
He was sullen, eyes sunken in and his face was that of annoyance as he looked up to Caraxes with pure hatred before it went to Aemond.
“....No,” he rasped, looking away from the boy as Caraxes snorted.
“He has claimed the dragon Vhagar. Technically he is the boy you are to be bound to for the rest of his natural life-”
“I DON’T WANT HIM!”
Vhagar boomed, coming out with rage emanating from him as he stood next to a cowering Aemond.
“I don’t want him! Tesarion doesn’t want them, Gaelithox and Shrykos don’t want them. I wanted Rheana,’ he screamed, Arrax turning to him with a narrowed eye before snorting.
‘Then you should have devoured the fool when he tried,” he deadpanned, standing up with Luke in his grip, smiling as Vhagar sneered, stepping closer to the Blacks and ignoring Aemond.
“...Hmmm,” he huffed, coming to stand behind them all and keep an eye on the proceedings. “....Leana will always be better,” he grumbled, Daemon turning to him as he nodded, and looked away.
‘As to why we are here,'' Arrax began, handing Lucerys over to a woman with light pink hair and Targaryen eyes. “...I came to make balance,” he smiled, hands clasped behind him. “And with that…I must kill some of you.”
“....I see,” Viserys nodded, the gods shifting as Arrax nodded to Balerion who snapped his head to Cristion Cole, rounding on him in seconds and lifting him up by the throat.
“Cole,” Alicent screamed, the man choking as the god of death beheld him and sneered.
“...I’ve always hated you. Always bad mouthing. Calling the child of my bonded Targaryen a whore, loose woman…I will take great pleasure in this,” he whispered, squeezing his hand as Cole began to choke.
‘I beg of you please! Spare my sworn shield-”
``You are no Targaryen, you have born no Targaryen children, you have no say in this matter,” he snarled, Cole’s neck snapping in an instant and dropping him cold and dead on the floor before turning on her. “You have no say in any of what is going to happen tonight.”
“...I am a Targaryen,” Aemond spoke up, Balerion and Arrax turning to him with looks of displeasure on their faces.
“...Just because you have the looks, you claimed a dragon and are the son of the king…does not make you a Targaryen,” Balerion informed him, moving to Viserys who was scared, confused and unsure of what to do.
“The second who must die this night….I will do this myself,” Arrax nodded, the children quivering as he smiled at them before stalking right to Otto Hightower.
“Wh-NO,” Alicent screamed as Arrax grabbed the man’s shoulder and shoved his hand right through his chest, holding his heart as he whispered in his ear.
“Your treasonous actions cost me, Vermax and Tyraxes our children…but that ends tonight,” he murmured, ripping his arm back as Otto fell to the ground dead and Arrax turned around with a bright grin. In his hand was Otto’s heart that he held out to Rhaenyra, looking at her expectantly with a raised brow before she opened her mouth and took a bite.
Arrax smiled, nodding as he cupped her cheek and murmured that she did well; then moved one.
Arrax moved around to all of them; one by one: Daemon, Rhaenys, Jacaerys, Lucerys, Joffrey and Viserys before he turned to the Hightower children.
He took a single stepforward before Helaena took a step forward herself to the God and took a bite, Arrax nodding as a woman with a veil grabbed her and moved her to the side of the blacks.
He turned to Daeron who grabbed his hand, seeing a way out of Old Town and took a bite, a man with singed clothes coming to hold his shoulder as he pushed him by Joffrey who had blood all over his mouth.
Aegon and Aemond remained, Arrax turning to Aegon who shifted and looked at Arrax like he handed him the world.
“...Eat this and become a dragon,” Arrax commanded them, devoured heart outstretched like an offering. “Don’t…and forget about being protected by us.”
“...” Aegon wasted little time as he downed a goblet of wine and took out a chunk of heart with a groan before a woman ushered him to Daemon’s side.
Aemond remained.
“...” Arrax kneeled down, looking the boy right in the eye as he placed the last piece of heart down. They kept their eyes locked as Arrax reached a hand out and placed it over his wounded eye and all was silent.
Then Aemond screamed.
“NO! NO! NO! NO! VHAGAR! VHAGAR! LISTEN TO ME! LISTEN TO ME! NO, VHAGAR NO!” he screamed in pure agony before Arrax released him and stood up.
Aemond seized in his seat, gasping as Alicent rushed over from her father’s corpse to her son who turned to her in horror and smacked her hands away.
“...A…A good thing….even though you…you,” he panted, blinking as he tried to keep the future away from the present.
Arrax had moved on, letting Aemond go through his madness without help as he took Lucerys back with a croon of adornment, kissing his hair as he caressed his face and Rhaenyra got the sense something was very WRONG.
Her sons were being coddled as if they were the most precious things in the world by the Gods of Old Valyria.
But the adults were no different.
Caraxes had Daemon caged in his arms, head nestled in the junction between his head and shoulder as he spoke of the poor souls lost at sea. Anytime Daemon made a move to leave, his arms tightened around him and God gave him a warning snarl.
Meleys held Rhaenys close as she murmured to her sweetly about times long gone with Leanor and Laena, hands tightening as the Queen who Never Was tried to take her hands back. Her eyes flashed a bright pink in warning until she sat down with her Husband who knew naught what to say.
Viserys, her father, watched Aemond beside Balerion who held his shoulders with both his hands. Keeping him in his seat whenever he tried to move and eyeing him with a stern look when he went to argue. He began to massaged his shoulders to calm him down as Viserys relaxed into it, but kept his eyes trained on his daughter.
Rhaenyra herself felt the presence of Syrax, the god holding a goblet of wine in hand as he watched the proceedings beside her, smiling and grinning as he kept a hand around her waist and tightened his grip when she tried to move.
He gave her side eye every time, but cooed at the sight of Joffrey and Jacaerys.
“More hearts for budding Dragons like you,” he cheered, raising his goblet with a smile. “Perhaps that Cole fellow,” he grinned. ‘Eh, Tyraxes,” he asked eagerly, the goddess nodding as she bounced a scared Joffrey on her hip.
“Shall I get it?”
“...Oh look, he made his decision,” Syrax commented, Aemond stumbling over and looking right at Luke.
“...I-”
“Not a word,” Arrax commanded and all went silent. “...Now….shall I lay down the law,” he grinned, head cocking to the side.
And Rhaenyra felt as if everything was about to crumble all around them as Syrax held her tighter and shared a look with Caraxes.
Something very bad was about to happen.

VALYRIAN PANTHEON HEADCANONS.
the goddess tessarion is the ruling queen of the fourteen - ruling alongside balerion, her king. she’s the goddess of creation, family, rebirth, harmony and the first flame.
balerion is the god of divination, death, and warfare. together both deities are meant to represent balance, and the belief that fire can only truly forge when and as one masters its capability for creation, and destruction.
balerion’s twin sister is the goddess vhagar. she is the lady of the dead, goddess of the underworld, strife, discord, and vengeance. often seen accompanying balerion into battle in ancient legends.
meraxes was born to tessarion and balerion, and is the first of their four children. goddess of mischief, and the goddess of youth. she is described as more draconic in appearance then the rest of her kin. born with a dragon scale birthmark down the right side of her face - it’s alleged her interest in humans is what led to the first dragon bond with mortals.
arrax, the second eldest child. the clever one. and the herald and the god of travelers. he served his parents as a messenger. and was said to bless the ones who could figure out his identity.
tyraxes is the god of healers, and light and the elder twin to viserion. the goddess of the night and lady of the moon. she’s said to be more reserved then her brother, and who the old valyrians prayed to for safety when they couldn’t light a fire of their own.
syrax is the goddess of beauty, fertility, love and war. her domain is anything that might be prompted by passion, and by emotion. her eyes and hair are both golden. she’s who the valyrians prayed to when they needed help professing their love for another.
meleys is the goddess of strategy, the forge and crafts. and often patron of the scholarly arts. she was worshipped by the metalworkers who folded and unfolded the liquid metal to make valyrian steel.
vermax is the god of lighting, storms, and the winds. he is the father of daenys, and valarr. and credited as the protector of the stranger for the guiding hand stories claim he reaches out to those who are in unknown situations.
daenys is the goddess of the hearth, and is the one credited as being the creator of dragons in ancient valyrian mythos. she forged the bond between humans and the first dragon lords at the behest of her cousin meraxes, and is worshipped and revered by dragonlords in particular.
valarr is the god of orchards and vegetation, wine, and the patron of the theatre. he is the youngest of the fourteen and poets / creatives and farmers alike would pray to him for inspiration and fruitfulness.
vermithor is the god of the sea, oceans and rivers. and commander of all that lay beneath the surface. he is popular among sailors in particular, as they prayed to him often for safe travel on the waves.
caraxes is the god of single combat, justice, and heroic glory. another deity the dragonlords of old were especially fond of, he was the inspiration to many knights and warriors of the old freehold.
worship of the gods is primarily ? their temples were located in long since dormant volcanoes, though many would often pray over an open flame. this is because it’s said that the original six ( tessarion, balerion, vhagar, vermithor, daenys, and caraxes were all born fully grown from one )
upon the creation of the dragonlords a very ? important devotional act when it came to worship of these gods was to name your mounts after them.
the magic of the old freehold was primarily ? flame and blood based. as such the three goddesses most often worshipped by practitioners were tessarion , meleys, and daenys.

i discovered your lovely page through larra rogare tag as you had written a response for imagined AU that she didnt leave and the impact that would had been on naerys
can i ask how do you image she spent her time after she left kingslanding? Do you think she felt better or worser or numb? Do you think aegon 4 or aemon or naerys wrote letters or tried to see her? Or maybe larra wished to come back but viserys didnt allow it as in a way larra had betrayed him by abandoning him in a extremely difficult time
and whats your headcanons for viserys and larra relationship🙄 which is I know and I agree its pervert and sick but at the same time I am curious, viserys was a kid but also kid who was extremely smart. i wonder if larra pitied him felt bad for him when he was hostage and then kind of became his friend while married? or did larra started to resent viserys for how his father found viserys and made larra marry him? do you think viserys II ever know what true love was? Did he thought he was in love with larra but then she left and he grow up and he closed himself emotionally?
i dont know What are you thoughts ?what do you feel how things went?
i'm sorry this took forever, end of the year was wild for me.
so i’m fully aware this is all getting jossed once f&b part 2 comes out (if it ever comes out) but I have thought a lot about the family dynamics of the dance kids after the dance, and how it affects them growing up and their relationships with their children. any sort of violent overthrow is going to affect the way its people develop, and the dance ending in the deaths of nearly every dragon when the dragons are more than just animal familiars to the people of westeros and what's left of the valyrians is going to be an extreme affect. the dragons are nearer to gods at this point, and yet they were all killed! i think this, and aegon iii being known as "aegon the dragonbane" especially in relation to the first aegon being "aegon the dragon" and the second being famous for having a bond so close to sunfyre that sunfyre died for aegon and not just at aegon's order (way different dynamic from vhagar, meraxes, caraxes, moondancer, and vermax), that all of viserys and aegon iii's kids are completely destroyed on a spiritual level. they're also raised by a bunch of young ass parents (i know like 19-20 isn't uncommon an age to have kids, but this generation is kind of extreme in that literally every single one including the boys is married and has at least one baby before 18) who are all struggling and failing to control their ptsd from the trauma of the dance. all of that to say, i think Viserys and Larra's kids and Aegon and Daenaera's kids (and Baela/Alyn and maybe even Rhaena/Garmund) were all doomed for unhappy lives from the start.
For sure, I think for Larra there was a lot of numbness. Unlike, say, Saera, who abandoned Westeros for a life that is certainly depressing imo (the only freedom a Targaryen woman is ever allowed is through the bartering of her own sex; either on the hopes of a kind husband or as a literal sex worker. it's soooooo damn depressing) but was at least living a life more in her control, the way Bellegere Otherys lived. Larra, however, abandons King's Landing because she is driven out due to the hostilities. She must leave all three of her children behind, and she must return to Lys in utter disgrace after the nonsense pulled by the men in House Rogare. She failed not only to protect the men in her family with her proximity to power but she also failed in keeping the smallfolk, the lords, and even her husband and children on her side to raise her house higher. And the price for a woman after a failure like that is usually obscurity, depression, and isolation. Look at the last days of Alicent Hightower, Maegor's wives, or what everyone hopes they did to Cersei at the end of Dance. I hope she wrote to Naerys but I wonder if she'd feel it wasn't her place anymore especially considering how religious Naerys is.
I do imagine Viserys latched onto her when they first married and Larra encouraged this; she's a part of the little crew of rascals during the Regency so she's clearly close to Viserys when she first arrives. I think it makes sense that he would get close to her as both his wife but also as a pseudo sibling or mother figure, after being separated from his own mother so suddenly and violently. I think the downfall of her house may have been what really started to sour their relationship; even though Aegon and Viserys come to her family's rescue, the damage to their reputations has been done when the Lyseni Spring has ended. Now, instead of clinging to the only kind face in a kingdom he doesn't know, Larra becomes a political liability; a foreign wife with foreign gods and a disgraced, upjumped family. I think this is why Viserys really doubles down on the incest by forcing Aegon and Naerys to marry and trying to force Baelor and Daena to marry - trying to prove they're real Targaryens still, even without their dragons. And because Larra doesn't fit into that, she gets cut out of the whole story.

The Founding of Valyria was signified by these three gods, and three eras.
Vermax was the god of the shepherds, husbandry, and any gathering from animals, the first god that the Valyrians acknowledged. He also sired Albion, the demigod who became the first dragonlord and founded Valyria. Through him, all of the Forty Families claim descent from Vermax.
Arrax was the god of mages and sorcerers, patron of creation. He took an interest in Albion’s line and guided them to the Fourteen Flames. He sacrificed himself to teach them how to make Valyrian steel, which convinced Balerion to let the Valyrians stay. He was eventually replaced by Tyraxes.
Tyraxes was god of bravery, soldiers, and duty. Tyraxes began as a young soldier, but rose to prominence uniting various clans from the line of Albion into Valyria, conquering various peoples to fully settle the Fourteen Flames as well as capturing enough slaves to cultivate it on their behalf. He ascended to godhood, replacing Arrax among the Fourteen Flames. To the Valyrians, he represented piety and the restraint of a dictator- the ability to act with impunity and yet the character not to.
