ABILITIES.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐎. : a gift from hydaelyn. the ability grants many traits : the power to transcend time, meaning she can mentally travel back in time to witness occurrences experienced by another. the power to transcend worlds, can pass into the aetherial plane &. communicate directly with the will of the planet herself. in extreme cases, the echo can be empowered to grant immortality to an individual. 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐍. : dragoon is sarastus’ main fighting style. dragoons wield a lance, &. their fighting style &. abilities were made to fight dragons. the attacks &. abilities hold some ability, excluding sarastus’ own magic. 𝐀𝐙𝐄𝐌'𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂. : as an amaurotine she is capable of creation magic. even then, her preferred weapon upon her travels was a lance. emet - selch also created a crystal for azem, with the ability to summon allies, even the stars to her aid. sarastus has light - themed magical abilities as azem, some of these survived the sundering.

STORY. THE WORLD THAT WAS BEFORE.

LONG AGO, when ‘ etheirys, the star’ was whole, a planet rich in aether, one of the two fundamental forms of energy that make up the universe. there resided AMAUROTINES, beings also rich with aether. immortal beings, who held the power to weave anything into existence, … SARASTUS being one of those very ancients. though her true name spoken only by those close to her, ———— for she held the title of AZEM, THE TRAVELER, ASSOCIATED WITH THE SUN &. LIGHT. she held the fourteenth seat of the convocation. azem was a person of action, a reckless thing. she often solved problems without seeking council, causing headaches amongst her colleagues. but she was respected for her skill, &. her unending kindness. the world was perfect … not lacking any adventure ( for she’d surely find some. ) &. that is how her life was filled, journeying, aiming to explore &. aid those in need, her friends by her side ———— but there was a dreadful horror looming, waiting for the perfect moment to strike … &. when it did? it struck hard, &. without mercy. THE FINAL DAYS, … death &. despair everywhere. a calamity, that threatened the fate of the star. the convocation decided to summon a god, zodiark, &. sacrifice half of the surviving population to achieve this. &. the sacrifice was too much, &. Azem openly opposed the idea, fought against it. but when the rest of the convocation was headset on proceeding, Azem left her seat vacant. an act that the former allies considered defection. she ran away, deeper into the broken world ———— dear friends sacrificed, &. one friend abandoned to remain on a side she couldn’t associate herself with. SHE WAS ALONE, FIGHTING TO STAY ALIVE IN WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE WORLD. she did not give an answer even to her former mentor, the former ancient who used to hold the seat of Azem … Venat. the woman who gathered followers who opposed the summoning of zodiark, &. in the end, SUMMONED FORTH &. BECAME HYDAELYN HERSELF. the fight between the two gods ended in the sundering : splitting the world into fourteen shards, different worlds. AND SHE WAS SPLIT, a feeling she could not even describe, … how could one, when your soul is torn? regret filled her, for she was meeting this fate alone. ( oh, what wouldn’t she give to be by her dear friend’s side. ) everything had been so loud, the atmosphere in the air made hot by the flames &. destruction all around, the pain sharp deep within her, she could hear her heart beat rapidly! ———— &. suddenly, it was all silent. DARKNESS TOOK HER, &. KEPT HER. it was all so quick … though these memories would hide away, deep within.

STORY. THE NEVER - ENDING JOURNEY.

A VOICE SO FAMILIAR, YET SO DISTANT … ‘ hear, feel, think. ’ a mantra that echoed in the sea of stars she found herself to be gazing at. warmth filled her being, a tingling sensation, AS IF SHE HERSELF WAS FILLED WITH LIGHT. ———— but within a blink, she was somewhere else. she found herself laying on the ground, within the forests of gridania. she, SARASTUS, a name that she felt to reside within, it felt like it belonged … when little next to nothing else remained. somehow she knew so much of what surrounded her, but little next to nothing about herself. HOW WAS SHE HERE, WHERE DID SHE COME FROM, WHAT WAS HER PURPOSE? ———— THE LATTER IGNITED A SPARK! … a yearning to explore, to experience adventures! stange, she didn’t feel any fear, any doubt when she marched forward, … a lance behind her back. ( oh, what awaits you. ) &. ADVENTURES WERE CERTAIN TO FIND HER PATH, … one could wonder did she seek them more than they sought her? SHE AIDED THOSE IN NEED, THE WHO SWEPT IN JUST AT RIGHT MOMENT. hydaelyn had her champion : &. it was her. SHE WAS BLESSED WITH THE ECHO, an ability to see into peoples’ past, among other qualities. ( she prefers not to mention the amount of times she fainted during the first experiences of the ability. ) ———— she was starting to make a name for herself, ‘ the slayer of eikons, primals, &. all foes! ’ … scions of the seventh dawn were the ones to welcome her to their ranks ; a secret society developed to serve the realm in tasks beyond others. ( BUT THEY WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHOS’ INTEREST SHE CAPTURED! ) no, … for the ascians, ones who serve zodiark &. aim to bring calamity to the worlds, to make the world whole again, … they had a keen eye for hydaelyn’s champion. COUNTLESS TIMES SHE HAS SAVED THE WORLD, hell, she has saved even another reflection of one, ‘ the first. ’ it is there, where she encountered an old friend, now an enemy. ———— it was then when the flashbacks struck. flashbacks of someone’s memories, THE ECHO FORCING THEM TO FLOOD IN. but they were from her perspective, … she was not witnessing the flashback as an observer as always before. it made her dizzy, &. when her friends called out to her, she tasted salt. tears had streamed from her eyes, without even realizing. SHE HAD PEERED INTO HER OWN PAST. THE CONFLICT IS A TALE OF ITS’ OWN, … only adding to the ever - growing list. SHE HAS SLAYED EIKONS, PRIMALS, ASCIANS &. GODS. a force unlike any other. yet her tale is far from over, ...

My favorite thing about Calamity era Arawn is how unimportant he thinks he is. Like he thinks he's just offering a place to sleep and that's nothing. But he's offering a legitamate SAFE place in an APOCALYPSE.

John Glenn: Flew the first American manned orbital mission termed “Friendship 7” on February 20.

1963

Pope Paul VI: Cardinal Giovanni Montini is elected to the papacy and takes the papal name of Paul VI.

Malcolm X makes his infamous statement “The chickens have come home to roost” about the Kennedy assassination, thus causing the Nation of Islam to censor him.

British politician sex: The British Secretary of State for War, John Profumo, has a relationship with a showgirl, and then lies when questioned about it before the House of Commons. When the truth came out, it led to his own resignation and undermined the credibility of the Prime Minister.

JFK blown away: President John F. Kennedy is assassinated on November 22 while riding in an open convertible through Dallas.

1965

Birth control: In the early 1960s, oral contraceptives, popularly known as “the pill”, first go on the market and are extremely popular. Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965 challenged a Connecticut law prohibiting contraceptives. In 1968, Pope Paul VI released a papal encyclical entitled Humanae Vitae which declared artificial birth control a sin.

Ho Chi Minh: A Vietnamese communist, who served as President of Vietnam from 1954–1969. March 2 Operation Rolling Thunder begins bombing of the Ho Chi Minh Trail supply line from North Vietnam to the Vietcong rebels in the south. On March 8, the first U.S. combat troops, 3,500 marines, land in South Vietnam.

1968

Richard Nixon back again: Former Vice President Nixon is elected President in 1968.

1969

Moonshot: Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing, successfully lands on the moon.

Woodstock: Famous rock and roll festival of 1969 that came to be the epitome of the counterculture movement.

1974–75

Watergate: Political scandal that began when the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, DC was broken into. After the break-in, word began to spread that President Richard Nixon (a Republican) may have known about the break-in, and tried to cover it up. The scandal would ultimately result in the resignation of President Nixon, and to date, this remains the only time that anyone has ever resigned the United States Presidency.

Punk rock: The Ramones form, with the Sex Pistols following in 1975, bringing in the punk era.

1976–77

Menachem Begin becomes Prime Minister of Israel in 1977 and negotiates the Camp David Accords with Egypt’s president in 1978.

Ayatollah’s in Iran: During the Iranian Revolution of 1979, the West-backed and secular Shah is overthrown as the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini gains power after years in exile and forces Islamic law.

Russians in Afghanistan: Following their move into Afghanistan, Soviet forces fight a ten-year war, from 1979 to 1989.

1983

Wheel of Fortune: A hit television game show which has been TV’s highest-rated syndicated program since 1983.

Sally Ride: In 1983 she becomes the first American woman in space. Ride’s quip from space “Better than an E-ticket”, harkens back to the opening of Disneyland mentioned earlier, with the E-ticket purchase needed for the best rides.

Heavy metal suicide: In the 1980s Ozzy Osbourne and the bands Judas Priest and Metallica were brought to court by parents who accused the musicians of hiding subliminal pro-suicide messages in their music.

Foreign debts: Persistent U.S. trade deficits

Homeless vets: Veterans of the Vietnam War, including many disabled ex-military, are reported to be left homeless and impoverished.

AIDS: A collection of symptoms and infections in humans resulting from the specific damage to the immune system caused by infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is first detected and recognized in the 1980s, and was on its way to becoming a pandemic.

Crack cocaine use surged in the mid-to-late 1980s.

1984

Bernie Goetz: On December 22, Goetz shot four young men who he said were threatening him on a New York City subway. Goetz was charged with attempted murder but was acquitted of the charges, though convicted of carrying an unlicensed gun.

1988

Hypodermics on the shore: Medical waste was found washed up on beaches in New Jersey after being illegally dumped at sea. Before this event, waste dumped in the oceans was an “out of sight, out of mind” affair. This has been cited as one of the crucial turning points in popular opinion on environmentalism.

1989

China’s under martial law: On May 20, China declares martial law, enabling them to use force of arms against protesting students to end the Tiananmen Square protests.

Rock-and-roller cola wars: Soft drink giants Coke and Pepsi each run marketing campaigns using rock & roll and popular music stars to reach the teenage and young adult demographic.

I'm reminded of that "antishipping isn't purity culture because it isn't conservative christianity" post... And I think I've done some unpacking on why it triggers me so much.

I was an intersex child shoved into the role of a female, in a rural & conservative Christian environment. I've had not just purity culture shoved down my throat, but also the shame of not being able to meet the expectations put on women in that environment.

It's not just cover up, slut. That implies I had something to show off, to begin with. And men still want to ogle you and imagine what your body is like beneath that modest dress. So here, literal child. Have this shapewear to make your figure conform to that of a developing middle school female's under your clothes.

It's contradictory that way. You have to try to be unappealing to not 'tempt' men, but you still need to be appealing in the sense of conventional female attractiveness. Moreover, you must not think about men or sex at all. But you cannot be asexual — your parents demand grandchildren.

Antis do the same with their queer representation. It's the same contradictory expectations... They champion the idea of breaking societal norms through queerness (i.e. the idea of 'queer as in fuck you'), then demand that every nuclear family norm be met. Queer characters must be disruptive without actually disrupting anything. And the contradictions apply to fans, too — you're homophobic if you don't like a canon queer ship, and you're fetishistic if you like queer ships too much. (There are more, but I'd be stuck here forever if I listed them all. 😅)

There's also the obvious — fictional sins being as bad as things done in real life. There's Matthew 5, which includes so many popular verses about thought control that Christians use, and equates bad thought to bad doing.

It's not just purity culture they embody, though — it's the satanic panic, too. Good lord the amount of times my grandma wouldn't let me watch Ghost Hunters because she thought I was welcoming demons into the home, or her concern for me watching horror movies because I'd surely become more violent. It's the same shit, different horse.

On a more light-hearted note, they play the same game that Christian demoninations do, too. I was Baptist, and considered the Methodists okay. But the Catholics? No, keep that shit away from me. Why are you worshipping Mary? That's idolatry! How horrible, to openly spit in God's face. When I read antis' DNI lists rattling off forbidden, unredeemable fandoms, it feels the same way, haha.

But what really seals the deal for me is how they smile in your face and promise they're just looking out for you. Christians do that, too. "We want you to get better. We want to help you. You're on a dark path." While they break your bones to force you into their mold. You may not be hurting anyone on your dark path, but they'll convince you that you ARE. You're hurting yourself "spiritually," you're hurting the community, your family, by being an abomination to God. You're hurting everyone and yourself, you just need us to help you realize it. Antis feel the exact same. I block them pre-emptively because I cannot handle having that shit directed at me again.

Moreover, their insults feel the same. The childish "icky," the ad hominems. It's too reminiscent for me. Of my mom hating my icky facial hair and my classmates making fun of my masc traits when they thought I couldn't hear; you are a gross person!!1! Ew!!!

It's funny that antis are so often anti-kink, considering they're so fucking intent on giving me a golden shower and telling me it's rain. I hope they're careful not to choke on the homophobic, pedophilic pastor cock they're sucking.

why is it an important point that alan is very light sensitive and prone to migranes? other than being a disability rep for those of us who cannot function in broad daylight without sunglasses and explaining why the bright lights in aw1 are such a pain to look at (from alan's point of view) but like. it's important.

we see it in the flashback with alice where alan is hangover and seemingly has his sunglasses next to his bed already - a little weird right? and alice mentions them as well - because this is common. because he often needs them. frankly speaking from experience you don't get to the point where the sunglasses become a mandatory bedside fixture unless it's a really bad day often - which must be the case here. we also see then in 'herald of darkness' where "Dark shades could never save the day" and we see alan in shades. it's common for him. he does it often. mood! anyway mr champion of light being sensitive to light is just a funny coincidence right? wrong.

I also suspect that alan's tendency towards full outfits is also a part of this. no sane human wears that many layers in september, and alan specifically covers pretty much all the skin possible without looking weird. also a lot of his article shots in rose'.... shrine have sunglasses and thick layers as well. this man is SENSITIVE sensitive to light and that's a coincidence I can't ignore in the remedy!verse.

alan was born (as stated in aw2) in 1977 - we don't know when, or where as he moved to new york later. his mother spent most of his childhood in psychiatric facilities, and his father is not only non existent but highly suspiously fictional (the only object we are told alan has of him is the clicker. the fucking clicker. tom zane's clicker that was definitely written into alan's life before he was born and was not a gift from his father proper. frankly we know the least about alan's childhood compared to all other remedy!verse protags - not knowing where or truly when he was born is important because it leaves options.

Light sensitive could be a coincidence - but we thought that about the nightmares too, and they turned out to be important clues. and hell- *Scratch* is less sensitive to light than Alan is - only flashbangs and the super steong hand flares make him flinch, direct light seems fine unless super powered and normal flares are nothing. alan actively gets headaches from these things and obviously it hurts him. wtf is up with that? when the protection of the dark presence patches up your weakness you have a issue.

theory time:

we know alan is tied to this god damn lake. zane wrote it so - at very least alan was destined to fall in it at the end of aw1. but what if there is more? we also know that alan's darkness became at least the aw2 dark presence which. fine? an endless cycle of destroying yourself while under the impression that that's not yourself. we don't know if the dark presence in aw1 is also this same one, and if it isn't we now know there can be multiple dark entites (implied by Mr Scratch also). if it is then damn alan has issues.

I don't know if its just me but the fact that the small darkness within someone can be escalated out to being the whole larger dark presence at full power feels... off. that feels like it doesn't work with what we know of the entities- unless there was more darkness in alan then originally suspected fueling this presence. the strength of the dark presence born from him combined with the strength of his light sensitivity makes me very suspicious to how human he was originally, and how much of alan is just lake bullshit. if he was a creature or creation of the darkness forced into a human body (perhaps the 1976 awe the andersons fought back in brightfalls wasn't all it seemed. maybe the dark presence or something else was looking for a crack to escape through. maybe it succeeded, but was reborn as a human who was already showing signs at a young age of being light sensitive and also being a parautiltiarian, and a strong one at that.

maybe there was never a father because there was never a mother - linda wake may have found a child on the lake shore and adopted it as her own, not knowing the truth behind its origins. maybe the torchbearers who operated in brightfalls around that time were involved. maybe the reason alan and tom look identical is the dark entity needed human dna when being reborn as a human and zane was there at the right time. could be why other traits are shared, and zane foresaw and influenced the creation of the dark place to get what he wanted (after all it was borrowing from him his face and personality - at very least it could give him wiggle room to escape?)

alan always had... issues. darkness. a lot for a man. so what if its all supernatural bullshit? no one is looking too closely because there is supernatural stuff going on. I'm not sure this man is human, or at least his soul isn't and never was. some darkness wearing a human skin maybe, sensitive to the light but forced to manage it. I don't know, maybe I'm looking too much into this.

Spent some of my afternoon/evening printing off @copperbadge 's Found Fortune oracle deck (yes my printer sucks). This is just standard cardstock, which is far from an optimal choice from a shufflability standpoint but it's what I had on hand. Considering going out tomorrow to get one of those corner punch thingies to round the edges. And maybe some sort of thin sticky-back paper for the backs to stiffen them up a bit (but then I'd have to trim them all AGAIN, so... idk)

I do not have particularly strong feelings towards tarot/oracle decks as a future-telling device, but I thought it could be a handy tool for storytelling and perhaps songwriting. My hugely unofficial january personal challenge is to write some sort of music-y thing every day (either new or a good effort working on something incomplete), so I decided to shuffle and pull a little spread for inspiration tonight, using whatever imagery pops up as a starting point for a song, as in where it's coming from / what's the problem / where's it going.

Here we have The Champion (All material things. Value; the counting of winnings), Delay (Thwarting. Indecision, weakness of character), and Light (Joy. Good fortune, delight).

I certainly could have gone more literal (a champion delayed in the quest for light) but it ended up a bit more abstractly themed around taking the physical distractions and the internal overwhelm, considering what sort of people those things turn us into, and then coming together to find/ensure there is still light in the world. Musically speaking it still needs tweaking and as usual I'll fiddle with the initial lyrics (possibly add another verse), but the chorus bit I particularly like is don't let the light escape from the sunset unseen.

Okay okay okay. This is literally gonna chew on my brain, so.

Here I list the tenets that guide the blooded sword:

okay, so now that we’ve gone through all the ways Helsknight broke his tenets this chapter, lets talk about the WoG confirmation that the red text is the will of the his Saint and his accusation that Tanguish is twisting his tenets.

…… yeah I mean, he kind is. He’s admitted to it in the past too.

Like, obviously I am deeply unwell about this series in general, but Helsknight’s devotion to his Saint is so fucking fascinating to me personally. Holding to a code no one else has to is hard as shit and the Saint’s code is pretty vicious. But part of the code also addresses getting help from others and I don’t even know if there are others of the order?

BUT what there are others of, is the champions of the arena. And Helsknight has been forgoing their help for a while and the Hand calls him out on it. Helsknight just now realizing that he doesn’t have a lot of things grounding himself to him instead of Wels (and self-admittedly ignoring several of those things of late) isn’t healthy and he needs to reach out and he needs someone to hold him accountable, either to his tenets or whatever internal logic he decides to replace them with, and I don’t think it can be Tanguish, because I love him, but he’s absolutely a manipulative little shit who will use Helsknight’s code to his advantage in tense situations.

Hels doesn’t get much in the way of happy endings and I’m not entirely convinced that the ideal scenario for Helsknight to follow his tenets to the letter at this moment would be to muster up his allies and a battle plan and then march on hermitcraft to duel Wels or something. Which would be lowkey highkey horrible for everyone involved, not gonna lie. But I also have to wonder reallly strongly about how the red text of the Saint’s will directly violated several of the tenets and what that means for Helsknight going forward.

Bro NEVER confronts his feelings, he constantly invalidates his own emotions in favor of other's. The only time he speaks up is when prompted, and then PUSHED.

Its just the truth, he keeps being funny despite genuinely being banished. Like dude, that's FUCKED up, it's not your responsibility to make people feel better about WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU.

I imagine that in this context 'being gay' is more like being a person, his life was wrecked because he has fucking emotions and thoughts and acted on them. And in this case his 'mother' is probably more like the elders or the undersea in general because he got banished. And No, he WILL NOT recover, his life fucking sucked.

This is just so him saying that he got banished to Chip and Jay. His head feels 'underground' because he was fucking PANICKING. "The joke is gone" they know he's not officially the champion anymore, they know he lied. But they don't care that he got banished, why would they? Gill is their friend, that doesn't change anything. And Gillion is more comfortable, able to be open to them.

His childhood WASN'T a childhood, and every joke or reference he makes simply highlights that. I think in this context the 'you' is us, the viewers. We laugh at the joke, and then realize what the fuck he actually just said and take in how horrible it actually is.

That's what Gillion does. He makes light of bad situations, on the surface for others, but also to try and hide and ignore his past trauma. 'It may not be so funny to you all, But know I am having quite a fucking ball' to me this feels more like behind Gillion, as in it being Charlie. We are all horrified at how horrible Gillion's life was and Charlie always grins whenever we bring it up.

He is traumatized, and I fucking love it. Can you tell?

In recent times, that would include traveling all the way to Ichigozaka to pay a premium for the best catering possible in all of Japan.

A party for the many idols who performed at the recent national idol competition, including her greatest superfan and leader of arisen!, Yumi Muramoto. Plenty of the girls would show up at Fumiko's mansion to discuss about the thing that makes them bond together: music, and enjoying themselves with the many other things the mansion has to offer.

The Champion walked on into The KIRAKIRA Patisserie. They were refined, passionate, humble, and unarguably the best at what they do, Fumiko could easily tell. Sporting her usual fine white suit, she bowed to the likes of Ciel.

Then, she proceeded to take out a unique white notepad, writing out what she had to communicate to the likes of the girl.

@ygoc-week day 5 is swap, so let’s swap to talking about another OC for a bit!

YU-GI-OH! DM — ISABELLA “IZZ” ROOKE

Oh Izz. Izz baby. My girl :3c She's the main character of a DM alternate fic called Soul Release, named after a card that's very important to her. She survived a tragic pileup that killed her entire family. Unbeknownst to her, this event tied her to a freshly-born reincarnation of Anubis named Rin in this verse.

This version of DM also includes a faction of worshippers of Apophis because of the existence of The Prophet of Apophis, a strong leader and manipulator… as cult leaders tend to be.

Aigami/Diva also appears earlier in this story rather than being a post-canon aspect; we get a Kisara reincarnation named Sapha, a German TCG champion; and Battle City gets a top 16 on the blimp with these three OCs especially mixing things up via their being chosen by the Wickeds.

I say “chosen,” but both Yami Bakura/Zorc and Rin/Anubis work together to create them to oppose the Egyptian gods. Yami B and Rin have a… working relationship, very much rooted in “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” They both strive for the pharaoh’s downfall. Rin chooses Avatar for herself while Yami B takes Wicked Dreadroot. Then Prophet blows up the museum, catching Yami B in the blast, and steals it for himself. Rin gives Eraser to Izz because she sees Izz as a puppet Rin can coerce to do her bidding anytime, including opposing the pharaoh.

Izz moves to Yugi and co’s school. She’s fairly distant from everyone in her life because of the tragedy, but they are kind to her and she is kind in turn. She wins local tournaments and tops regionals because, in order to hide from grief, she fixates on Duel Monsters deckbuilding and ratios and meta etc. This is enough to earn her a Duelist Kingdom invite. Overall, she’s an anxious mess who needs a hug and isn’t sure how to properly interact with other people anymore. She feels like a cataclysm waiting to happen again and again.

Now the elephant in the room! You see her with the Pyramid of Light. Rin approaches Izz after her first regional win. Izz is weak at the knees for beautiful women (and men—everyone is a bi disaster, remember?). Rin explains she hosted the tournament and forgot about a particular prize. She compliments Izz’s dueling and gifts her the Pyramid of Light, saying she’d like to get to know her better. Izz is flabbergasted and accepts the Pyramid, asking only what it is. Rin only describes it as valuable jewelry and recommends Izz keep it on her person.

The iridescent swirls in the pyramid’s sky blue are mesmerizing to Izz, and staring at it provides an indescribable comfort… and focal point to keep her grounded/stop her out of body experiences such that she does indeed wear it constantly

This has an unintended side effect

See, Izz wears a necklace (in the artwork, matches Dark Magician Girl’s pendant) that just so happens to contain the ancient and slumbering spirit of Mana. Being so close to the dark energy of the Pyramid of Light stirs her, and she becomes Izz’s ghost like companion similar to the pharaoh and Yugi. Mana is always trying to be a positive influence on Izz where Rin is like the devil on her shoulder. Izz often makes mistakes and trusts the wrong people, hurting her friendships with the gang and repairing them again.

Her using Wicked Dreadroot however… that one will certainly be difficult to come back from.

And as for pairings, I’m undecided and going so many directions! I would probably have to write it all out.

The entire crown lighting rig couldn't fit in the venue, so only the bottom of the crown was used at this show (and also the following night in Hamburg).

Before the medley, Freddie says, "We have a lot of music for you tonight. That's why we don't have a support. I just wish there were a bit more of you."

During the "Take me with you and love me forever" line in The Millionaire Waltz, a single person in the audience shouts "forever" at the right moment, to which Freddie responds, "That's nice."

Freddie replies to the audience's rhythmic hand-clapping after the medley. "You're the only audience that does that... did you know that?... in the world. I mean, if you all clap together, I'll have you sing together too, right? Let's what you can do in this next song. We ended up with a song called You're My Best Friend. For those of you who didn't know, it was written by John Deacon, and we'd like to do another song written by John. This is our latest single release. This is called Spread Your Wings." What follows is perhaps Freddie's best live version of the song, delivered with complete conviction. His voice is in incredible shape tonight.

He once again responds to the hand-clapping. "Do you do this for everybody? Do you do this for Led Zeppelin?" (They haven't been in Denmark since 1973, but they would return in 1979 to a few thousand clap-happy fans for warm-up dates for big their Knebworth shows). An excellent version of It's Late follows, with the perfectly executed vocal harmonies making it one of the best versions ever.

Roger drums up a storm in Now I'm Here, especially in the first verse.

Brian, before Love Of My Life: "This is a song for Sheer Heart Attack which Freddie wrote, and it was written for piano and voice but we're gonna do it with guitar and voice tonight, so we'll see how it goes." Brian had forgotten which album it was on, and it seems to become an ongoing joke between him and Freddie throughout the tour.

Brian's use of his echoplex delay unit in the last minute of White Man is nothing short of masterful.

Hey who wants to see my ancient WIP for "Let's Take Eros And Psyche But Make It Zelda"

Inspired by this glorious fic by my dear friend @whyoneartheven

Many years ago, there was a great and beautiful sorceress- so powerful and so stunning that the people of the land mistook her for a goddess. Her name was Cia. One might have supposed that a woman as talented and attractive as she would be gracious and kind as well, but the sorceress had let pride cloud her heart, and in time became jealous and vindictive- resenting anyone who would dare to rival her.

Within Cia’s realm lay the small Kingdom of Hyrule, and while it may not have been the largest of the earthly kingdoms, it was a happy and prosperous land indeed. For the pride and joy of Hyrule was its princess, Zelda. Not only was she well-versed in the arts of magic, she was also exceedingly lovely. But more importantly, she was kind, just, and fair, and ruled her people with goodness and mercy. Her subjects adored her, and in time they even began to say that she was far superior, in every respect, to Cia herself.

What began as local whispers of awe and admiration soon began to spread outside Hyrule’s borders, and it was not long before they reached the ears of the sorceress. The witch became enraged, and furiously began to plot the downfall of the princess.

At this point, it would be prudent to mention that Cia had a ward. His name was Link, and he had once been none other than the Captain of Hyrule’s Royal Army. But in a ferocious battle- waged on none other than Cia herself, for in older days the kings and queens of Hyrule had not been as terrified of the witch and had valiantly attempted to free the lands from her dominion- he was gravely wounded in combat and left for dead. In the aftermath of the battle (in which Hyrule’s forces had been thoroughly routed), as Cia walked amidst the carnage, whether by fate or the hands of the gods, her eye caught on the Captain- barely breathing but still alive. She had seen him fight bravely, and, noticing that he was also very handsome, she decided to spare his life. She revived him with her magic, under the condition that he would serve her as her champion and warrior. Though hesitant- for he knew that Cia was a jealous and petty woman, and could be dangerous if her wrath was incurred- Link agreed. He thus had been her servant and soldier for many a year (for her magic both saved and increased his life and beauty), and in time, Cia grew to develop an obsessive lust for him. However, despite his pledge of servitude to her, Link shared no reciprocative feelings towards his mistress, and in all his time under her command, had done all he could to avoid her unwanted advances.

As Cia schemed against the Princess Zelda, she finally decided to humiliate the maiden so as to lessen her reputation amongst the people of Hyrule, for she yet saw no need for death. So, using her most potent magic, she created a draught that would make its victim fall hopelessly in love with the first thing, person or otherwise, they saw. She then called for Link, for she required his assistance in the plot.

“Draw your sword,” she commanded, and as he did so, she coated its blade in the potion. “You are to steal away to the Princess’s chambers in the dead of night, when no one will see you, and touch her with the blade. But quickly! so as to avoid being seen, should she wake at its coolness on her skin.”

So that very evening, the knight set out for Hyrule’s castle. He arrived [insert time here], and, slipping into the Princess’s chambers, drew his blade to do as Cia had commanded.

But something about the lady Zelda gave Link pause. Even in the half-light of the moon, he could see that she was perhaps as beautiful as the rumors had said, and, were the softness of her features and the small smile on her lips any indication, just as kind.

And, whether it be fate or the hands of the gods, in his moment of hesitation, his hand slipped, and he cut himself on his own blade.
