Learn How To Help The Library Of Congress HonorThe Veterans, Living Or Deceased, For...Veterans DayNationwide Campaign to Collect Stories from the Men & Women Who Served their Country with Monica Mohindra of the Veterans History Project When we think of U.S. military veterans, we often imagine those who saw combat overseas, but just as relevant and heroic are those who served in other capacities, including Uniformed Public Health Officers and those who were deployed to respond during a natural disaster or public health crisis. The Commissioned Corp of the U.S. Public Health Service is one of eight uniformed services. Founded more than 200 years ago, its members play a critical role in protecting our nation’s health in all 50 states and overseas. Monica Mohindra, Director of the Veterans History Project, joins Mark Alyn to discuss how the VHP is actively seeking stories from these veterans with oral history interviews, original photographs, letters and other corresondence to be archived and made accessible for future generations. LIVING HISTORY — Collecting, preserving & making accessible firsthand recollections of U.S. military veterans who served from WWI through todayTIMELESS TREASURES — Audio & video-recorded oral history interviews, unpublished memoirs and collections of original photographs, letters, diaries/journals, artwork and historical documentsALL INCLUSIVE — Veterans from all branches and ranks who served at any point are eligible to participate in the Veterans History ProjectVETERANS DAY SEARCH — VHP actively seeks Commissioned Corps veteran’s oral history interviews, original photographs, letters & other correspondence VHP Director, Monica Mohindra, has worked for more than 15 years with the Project. She has coordinated major initiatives with Members of Congress, the National Museum of the American Indian, the National Endowment for the Humanities, PBS, Ken Burns/ Florentine Films, the HISTORY Channel, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, among others. Energized by the large collections development initiatives which enable exploring new audiences and new participation in the Project, the most meaningful part of her work is helping uncover and shed light on the individual personal stories of US veterans.

Hi! I was wondering if you knew why shady belle was abandoned? I did some research earlier and apparently it was a plantation and was abandoned during the civil war. Do you know any more details about it?
Okay, I do have some details... But I don't know if they will clear up anything.
One of the first things is that I don't think it was abandoned during the civil war, because that war ended in 1865 yet there are many dates in the graveyard after that. Agnes Dowd died in 1883, Archilles Chevelier in 1896, Coline LeBleu in 1886, Damita Ravarre in 1890, Esther Leroux in 1872, Michele Jardoin in 1897 and Louis Breax in 1888.
Some of the things that I notice about all these names is that, one, none of them share last name, which is weird considering that plantations are often owned by families. Two, if the last person who lived there was buried in 1897, then how is it all rotten already in 1898? And three, if it was abandoned during the civil war, then why bury your loved once there, it is not a family grave so it shouldn't have a special meaning and it is also a hastle to get there due to the Lemoyne Raiders who appearently have been staying there since the war.
I have heard some people state that all these graves belong to Raiders, but we know for a fact they do not. Agnes Dowd was a rich woman, we know her story because we can meet her ghost, and even if her family hated her and didn't want her buried at their family graveyard, why place her there when it is so hard to get to? Another point to debunk this is that the last person who died was a woman, and all the Lemoyne Raiders are in fact men because they are all veterns and women couldn't be veterans.
I think the developers just missed this and that they kinda wrote over one another.

okay, they've already justified Shikamaru's annoying little tag along- he's the same age as shikamaru (or at least looks it), but he's kind of. like. an annoying 19 year old who doesn't want to do paperwork. and Shikamaru kind of hates him but kakashi's like 'no, that's what we want. 19 year olds that are allowed to be annoying instead of war veterns.' BUT shikamaru hasn't had his 'i want a world where everyone can be lazy' character development yet so instead he's just strung out lol. good way to introduce the concluding theme of the story early
