AS MUCH AS I LOVE JIGSAW AND DOMESTIC PUENTALAY AND OUR LITTLE FAMILY OF THREE NONE OF THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT QUEEN VICE VERSA THE SERIES LIKE OUR SKYY WAS JUST THE CHERRY ON TOP OF AN ALREADY DELICIOUS AND PERFECT SHOW

i simply can't get over how vice versa did everything right. from the very beginning to the very end, it never fumbled, not where it mattered, not with its characters and not with what it wanted to say. they had a vision and they carried it throughout the show in such a lighthearted yet deeply mature way and i love that so much. also puentalay's journey, both as characters and as a pairing, is so important to me TRULY THEE RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND THEE CHARACTER GROWTH OF ALL TIME

as for the episode, i gotta go with real red. not only the entire first part is a masterpiece in storytelling and acting, but an episode 11 in a BL show that does not end with a break up or a separation but a REUNION?????? not to be petty but TALENTED BRILLIANT INCREDIBLE AMAZING SHOW STOPPING SPECTACULAR REVOLUTIONARY SUBVERSIVE GROUND BREAKING MIND BLOWING LIFE ALTERING IT WILL GO DOWN IN THE HISTORY BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!

OK, a slice of my brain that I can’t quite turn off continues to wonder why everyone is having all these angsty conversations about stay in this universe, go back to the other universe, abandon your family and friends there, abandon your friends and the life you’ve built here, what to do what to do ... when nobody has the blindest bit of notion how the Portkey system works or how to actually control it. What do you think Puen’s gonna do if the system just up and decides to swap him back, Talay? He’s gonna go whether he wants to or not. What do you think is gonna happen if Talay really really wants to go home (like he has this whole time), but the portkey system can’t be fucked to take him, Puen? Do you think he’s gonna somehow get there on his own? Hitchhike, maybe? And is either of you considering at all the potential wrinkle that you might not even be each other’s portkey, that the weird feelings you’re having are oh, maybe, falling in love - which you just don’t recognize because neither of you has ever done it before - and not some cosmic universal machinations? Are you saving any kind of space for the idea that if that turns out to be true, what one of you does has very little bearing on what the other one of you does, on a universal-traveling level, at least?

The angst is delicious, but ALL of this is completely THEORETICAL. What do we know for sure? Apparently, if you can find another universal traveler in the body of someone who’s somehow close to the body you’re in, you’ve got a good chance that they’ll be your portkey. That’s IT. That’s all we know. (And do we even know that, or were Dol and Joob just saying it with the same kind of confidence they approached all the other mad science experiments, without actual proof?) Everything else is urban legend and Dol’s mad science experiments trying to match people up. Oh, we know what happens when the system is ready to switch you back: You might remember a thing. What thing? Who knows. Something. A thing you’ve forgotten. You dream. Go to the place you dream about. The only thing you have control over at any point is whether or not you go to the place you dream about. But you have zero control over whether the person who’s in YOUR body goes to the place THEY dream about.

I feel like we’re all maybe acting like we’ve got a lot more control over this than we actually do because we’ve not adequately processed all of the feels that got dug up when Joob DIED out of nowhere and what that illustrates about the precarious positions that ALL THE REST OF US ARE IN.

I mean, fight if you want, the angst is delicious FOR ME (oh fuck me, it’s finger-licking good, just like the KFC :facepalm:), but you’re all Fortune’s fool right now, and all you can do is wait for her to spin the wheel.

Random thoughts on Vice Versa ep 9

I was wondering how they were going to deal with Mek also 'liking' Tess with Talay and Puen getting together…well, it turns out Mek doesn't - so, problem solved! That was easy. As with all these cameos, he was there and then he was gone.

It's so trippy seeing Neo in two different roles in two different series at the same time. Trippy but FANTASTIC. His versatility! I'm so glad he's able to showcase the more serious character of Kan in The Eclipse and I hope he gets more of these serious roles in the future now that he's shown what he's capable of.

I love that we're being given crumbs of a potential pairing of Aou and Fuse - I had to stop and rewind (scroll back?) when Aou was teased with: "Are you having a spark with someone?!" Um...yes he is! And then them sharing A Look™ when washing the dog and then later whilst waiting outside the surgery room. Aou and Fuse is a go!

How is it that Puen is on the sofa and the other three are in his bed? 😄 I mean, I know if it were me I'd offer my bed to others as well...but the last time they were all there he managed to snag the bed with Talay... Poor guy, now that him and Talay are together he's getting c***blocked! And all that with the pillow is hilarious…and bordering on a bit too explicit. Like…I was seriously afraid that he was going to shove his face in the pillow after he unzipped it...but thankfully all he did was imply he wanted to undress Talay and smush his face on him.

I love the word play, though, even if I don't totally understand it - something about the way Talay says 'Stop it, Tun' must sound like 'dentist' in Thai...

The best three seconds of the show, though? Definitely when Mix entered - with that slow-mo reveal from the side and the soft breeze of his hair. I just adore all the cameos. And for a hot minute I almost lost my sh*t when I thought the height difference between Mix and Aou/Fuse was real (then I noticed there was a step down).

Anyway, back to Puen and Talay and I thought the emotional scene after the birthday felt a bit rushed but at least we got a seed of Puen's 'backstory' - not having any real friends is easy to understand with him being an actor but not even having any family adds another layer to his motivations. He seems like a naïve, sheltered kid in a man's body who hasn't had the emotional support or 'real-world' experiences to know how to properly respond to situations he finds himself in. It's like he got wrapped up in the happiness of Pakorn's life that he didn't really think before saying to Talay "how about we stay here?" without consideration for the consequences of that to the other people involved. And of course he does, because he has everything in the alternative universe that he had dreamed of having in his real life. And when Talay doesn't respond in kind, when instead he challenges Puen, it's like a reality check slap across the face.

And it feels 'in character' for Puen to then disappear (I say this as someone who has also lived very independently because this is what I would do) to deal with this 'opening of his eyes' to the repercussions of what he had thought to be such a simple suggestion. He needs time to reflect and process and since he's used to being alone, he does what he knows and goes to be alone. In contrast, whilst Puen is dealing with it on his own, Talay has Kita to offer a different perspective to help Talay understand Puen more. Because, I have to admit, if it were me under those circumstances, I'd also consider staying in the better universe...before eventally accepting that of course I couldn't. Someone else has already talked about how great communicators Puen and Talay are and I think it's so true. They discuss how they're feeling and also take time to process that information and I think this is why Talay hasn't shown any greater frustration at Puen not telling Talay his real name. They understand one another, learn from each other, and choose to accept the flaws they each have.

Okay, enough with the essay.

I loved the beach scene. THE NEW SONG! And it was a wonderful conversation, apology, and confession all in one. They both listen and meet each other in the middle, and aren't afraid to say how they feel. It feels measured and mature...and ultimately why I trust they will have a happy ending.

And lastly...I'm not one to look at or buy anything from the GMMTV store but all those 'gifts' the friends gave each other are going to be for sale, aren't they?! 😂 But with the hourglass...I feel like I've maybe missed something between Puen and Talay because I don't really understand why it's important enough for Puen to give to Talay (I understand the symbolism of it in the show but not what it means to them). I theorised with @grapejuicegay that perhaps it's something to do with the Thai language - that maybe they way they talk about 'wanting to have time to do things before they die' might linguistically involve the word or concept of an hourglass...but I might be way off the mark. Anyone with a knowledge of Thai want to chip in here?

I wish I could guess at what might happen in the last three eps but I feel like it's totally up in the air. There are moments in the trailer that suggest Puen could go back to the original universe first (when Talay is on the beach looking at the hourglass) but also there are moments that suggest Talay could go back first (Puen crying with Tun's parents). BUT whatever happens I actually feel confident that there will be a happy ending. I'm also very indifferent about whether Puen manages to tell Talay his real name before they get separated or not. At this point, Puen knows enough to find Talay, so them not being able to find each other is not a worry for me. The worry is more that only one might go back...but since we know from the trailer that Talay and Puen will reunite in their original universe (below - Talay has his glasses on)), even that doesn't scare me (I know, I know, 'don't trust a Thai trailer'...but this time I do). In fact, I look forward to seeing what antagonistic forces outside their control will separate them (and thus cause the angst) and then how they'll eventually get back together. Even better is if we see the effects of Tess and Pakorn in Puen and Talay's lives and then the fallout of Tess and Pakorn returning to their own universe. Ultimately, I'd like at least one whole ep on this.

And I'll finish off by saying this... I wonder if this place (below - from the ep 10 trailer) will be significant in one or both of them returning because I think it's the same place as where they'll be in the original universe (above):

Bravern ep 9 spoilers)

I've been dumpster diving on twitter in search for supe fanart (I didn't find many) but i came across an interesting analysis. Ep9 has shown that the popular theory was right, there are multiple timelines, and this user claimed that we've seen multiple timelines in past episodes. There are some evidence that look really convincing.

In ep 2 smith busted the door to the torture room open, but after that the door looks completely fine

In the scene where they changed lulu's hairstyle, the background changed drastically (seaside + runway turned into buildings, with isami watching) they shouldn't have walked that far for the place to change so much

In japan, the command people were first shown observing the events outside by binoculars, but then changed to monitor. Why go inside? If it's safe to observe in the beginning why bother going inside

Also, remember the risque scene of smith with lulu? It seems the bg also changed between what seemingly looks like seamless scenes. The green duvet is messy in the first scene, but neat and undisturbed in second scene?

Also, this is my own observation, but the place where superbia meditated also changed. In the beginning the place is completely clear, but in ep9, there are many dead trees very close around him.

You could argue he moved, but if you look closely he's on top of a rather tall hill(?) and there's no other place with the same height in immediate vicinity. He'd also made the decision to sit there and think, plus (from what i understood) he could get a good grasp of the situation with bravern vs deathdrives so it's not like he changed place to get a better view

There's a post by another user pointing out that hibiki's injury has changed from head to hand (or vice versa? I don't remember) but I couldn't verify this yet.

There are many more things pointed out in the thread, but they're non visual stuff that require checking and might be affected by subs. Please check it out yourself. I think bravern really needs rewatching after all the revelation.

I think it makes sense that there are different timelines. Because these different timelines could be based on smith/bravern's memories (before and after transformation). But I wonder if we'll continue seeing these in ep10 and so on because starting from knuth's explosion, he can't possibly see what happens in the future

discussion #13 (only friends): 'fire' as a prominent and reflective symbol of topmew's relationship

this is so random, but i just realised that topmew's relationship has a lot to do with fire.

top's trauma, mew burning the drawing (we can really see how top flinches when the paper is caught on fire), another fire alarm set off (?) in the final ep, and their relationship (also their personality) in general.

it's like their relationship (or mainly top's story arc) centres around the fire. the fire—in this context—varies. passion. fear. pain. love. sacrifice. i love how there's a connection between top's trauma and the nature/dynamic of their relationship. because even though top is afraid of fire—a traumatising turning point in his life—liking mew is like playing with fire, too. but he shows resilience, perseverance, and effort to make it work. although i do believe he's afraid of this new journey—he even said he couldn't bear the idea of not holding mew again one day—the feelings he has for mew surpass everything.

additionally, liking mew also gives top purpose. i think this is a recurring theme in some dramas i'm watching right now. kanghan from dangerous romance, for example, is becoming a better person after he meets sailom. because sailom has expectations on him—sailom believes in him. and it's similar to top. we know top dates for a maximum of three months (but one thing i realise is topmew have dated for four months because the drama starts in august, and since in the previous episode, mew helped his mothers hang the christmas ornaments, it's literally four months! mew is indeed special, and top is definitely serious in this relationship).

ok. i regress.

what i'm trying to say is, after meeting mew, knowing mew, falling in love with mew and losing mew, top finally found his purpose—he wants to make mew happy. it's the only thing he wants to do. and in episode 11, top said he wanted mew to believe he wouldn't take this second chance for granted. he would be better, for mew, for this relationship. why? because he loves mew. he loves mew. that's all there ever is.

(side note: this is the most heartbreaking thing about top, in my opinion. he just looks so peaceful and happy when he's with mew. it's really devastating. he can do anything to make mew happy—even if it causes him pain—and i somehow believe it's the humblest and most selfless definition of love: when we put someone's needs higher than ours. and top is doing just that and so much more for mew. so if i see anyone says top doesn't genuinely love mew, i'm going to fcuking cry tears of blood... t_t)

so ironically, top has been living 'with' the fire—mew—all this time. but he isn't running away. mew isn't something traumatising but life-changing. he's the 'fire' that top needs to realise and understand that love is real when it's with the right person. and mew is the right person for top. and vice versa; only top can put out the fire in mew.

mew is like the oil to top's fire. the more he pours himself on top, the brighter he burns. even though it's painful, it's still oddly beautiful. they're like the fire—destructive and dangerous. but they just can't walk away from each other's life. because the fire connecting them is none other than love.

Well, well, well. Look at you, Puen. Remembering a thing. (I mean, how could you forget the guy who didn’t wash his hands, then followed it up by telling you that you have a big head, right?)

ETA: Wh - Why would you do that, Show? I AM NOT OK over Talay apparently NOT remembering their meet-cute when Puen did. Puen not only recreated the hat-askew-adjust-it-for-me bit that we saw in the flashback, he also fed him the llama vs. alpaca bit earlier. I cannot BELIEVE you didn’t have Talay figure out Puen’s name FOR HIMSELF right then and there, Show. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY ISN’T TALAY REMEMBERING A THING?

Also, wow, you shouldn’t have admitted that your greatest fear was being left in this universe alone, Talay, because now I can see that bearing down like a freight train.
