To tell you the truth I've never really had a good opportunity to participate in dungeons and dragons. I played a few times with my cousins as a tiny falsetto child, but maybe twice. I usually ended up dying horribly and then reading the manuals they had instead, far, far more stimulated by the illustrations of tight shit, which Ironically enough, I did end up manufacturing ersatz for use in my own workings purely out of convenience many years ago. Though, It would be a lot of fun, to steal away with a DMs favorite dice and conjure them to behave Erratically In My Favor (Or My Enemies Disfavor) Or learn to read dice and use numerological breakdown equations to attempt to read the dms next moves and plan your strategies accordingly.

The most pop-culture magic thing I've done was in my early twenties when I used some jupiter magic to petition a specific hour of jupiter for hunting shiney pokemon. It did seem like I found quite a few more, but in the end I ended up feeling kinda bad about it because depending how you view planetary magic you're basically asking a planetary intelligence older than humanity to perform a function you could provide for yourself just as easily with a romhack. (I was emulating). I may still end up making my besty a shiney charm for pokemon go, as it gives her joy, and I like to show my affection with gifts, but that I would work with blood, so arguably only my ancestors might give a shit and they ought to know by now I ain't got good sense so.... we'll see.

As far as programming a spell itself, that's a biiiiit of a long stretch by my magical model that I adhere to. I'm primarily an animist, so for me, the thing is, say I call or conjure a spirit to do a thing. Sometimes a whole mess of them.

If you're of a chaos magic bent you could *try* sigilizing something, as plaintext, and writing a very simple proglet to echo that text to the console endlessly, or based on a planetary hour, or select a versicle related to the purpose and echo that, or all of the above, or even a script to open and close a planetary seal in a window at certain hours, or an ASCII snip of a planetary glyph, but to my personal models, I could just as easily accomplish most of those things without electricity with rocks and sticks and bones and ink and materia, and efficiency of resource use, both physical and computational, is my guiding star.

*maybe* it could be useful, If you had a job interview, or impending incarceration, or a court date and wanted to know *something* was happening conceptually related to another pre-existing spell to feed it, but by my model of practice, this would still require off-code magic to make the spitting of characters to a console even remotely related to a spell intended to Do A Thing, and, Depending on how you view magic and transmission of intent you could hide stuff in the comments as a certain astrology app developer was said to do, but to my reasoning and practice, this is a waste of effort and a misunderstanding of a key element of what makes witchcraft distinct from other forms of magic - if a cute decor to your source code - as compilers don't include comments by default in any finished binary. Using an interpretive language would keep the comments intact with the instructions but they would still be stripped prior to VM code and thus excluded from execution.

You could, in theory, store a spoken spell as a string variable hardcoded in the binary and then call that variable to instantiate the spell in memory, perform some transformation against it so the compiler won't optimize away the "unused" string variable, and then do something with the transformation, say, walk the string a character at a time, summing their ordinal values, and printing the result every X milliseconds and immediately clearing the screen so the entire process is invisible outside a debugger, but this is an experiment I have not performed. Yes I accidentally just invented ascii sigils just now oh my god the disc horse I can hear the hoofbeast what have I done what have I done whyyy?!?!?!? WHY GODS?!?!

It really all depends on how you use and view magic and your creative limits in regards to brainstorming how you might incorporate technology.

For my own uses, about the best purpose I could find for my programming bent in relation to magic was in the production of my digital grimoire I wrote to prepare print-pretty HTML output of spells I input as a write them for inclusion into my solid, meatspace grimoire, and offline use on any device with a web browser:

the output + indexing feature of which is complete, and is a very handy means of auto-calligraphing a spell onto paper via Thee Most Sacrede Inkjete Printinge Daimon Of Artaeaea, and it's lacking only the finishing of the plaintext console version that can run with no browser. It runs fine under LINKS2 on dos but that browser runs for shit on the newest handheld I own (I suspect a bug in the dos emulations network layer spamming the error console as the device has no network hardware, but have not poked around enough to determine if that's why yet)

The current revision even supports theming, formula storage, windows and linux, and supports a different theme for each section, with support for CSS themes, for which a proof of concept of layering and animation support is functional, for basically no good reason than I was high on eweed and was like 'hehe what if nyancat":

I'm also currently working on retroprogramming an enumerator program to derive, accurately to occult theory, based on the qualities of arbitrary objects, correct planetary rulerships based on the doctrine of signatures and associated texts, but so far only the plant function is feature complete. The program itself isn't complete yet, and will support at least color theming:

The photo is a very early prototype, and while I got stoned one week and wrote 90% of the functions when our internet shat out and I finally had 0 distractions from the task, I haven't fucked with it further yet. The current prototype runs under DOS emulation so I can run it on anything modern, including phones and handheld gaming devices. I may end up rolling all the pieces and parts into one program that can do the whole witchy business, possibly with a very simple natural language core shell I might call AGATHA in honor of ELIZA, the ancient ai experiment intended to simulate a conversation with a therapist. All of these are essentially iterations of the first whole program I ever wrote intended to store occult information. I called it arcana and it was lisa frank colors. I'll post a photo sometime.

i'm playing with the idea of learning enough lua to produce a more adorable version for Pico-8 or a FOSS work-alike for the planetary enumerator, but have not began this yet.

There are a few other features it needs to be generally considered a digital witchcraft assistant system, but ONE DAY.

I intend to release it all eventually, maybe on itch.io or something. Freebie wise, I'm also working on a set of scripts for AI to give them the same capabilities, but so far only bard can run it. My own model and method of Doing Pointy Hat Things relegates computers to reference tools, more or less, and not active participants, but, I mean whos to say you couldn't build a servitor as a text object on a flash drive or something? Experiment, chase results, lean into what seems like it works a little, until you have something that works flawlessly. Stepwise Refinement and all.

Scott Moir: 35th birthday chart

There's a lot going on in this chart for this year until his next birthday

Sun square Mars: a lot of drive for accomplishing things, as well as a lot of competition. Which in his work, duh. But it's always validating when the chart is lining up with what we can see happening. There's tension between what he wants and what's expected of him. It can also be that his self-interest and the goals of others are in conflict. This is one of several aspects saying he'll be overscheduled. Finding a balance so it doesn't strain his relationships or possibly impact his health will be a challenge.

Usually without a birth time, you can't look at moon aspects, but no matter what the birth time, he has this T- square in this chart with Moon opposite Uranus, both squaring Saturn to some degree, and even if it's weaker, it's big enough to mention:

Moon opposite Uranus: sometimes this aspect means some sort of change in the home but without ease - could be a physical change like renovations or a move, or something less obvious like a transition in an established relationship. external change can be the result of restlessness you feel inside, needing space. could also be about disruptions from travel or changes in your situation.

Moon square Saturn: this one can potentially be heavy because it indicates some kind of emotional block or frustration-- could be feeling like you can't express your emotions openly or that you lack a good emotional support system. Or something making it harder to move forward. You'll be carrying a lot of responsibilities and maybe feeling isolated. But can't say to what degree this would be happening without a birth time

Saturn square Uranus: this has been a long transit so that most people had this in their birthday charts last year- this has an element of resisting change. Scott having it again this year means that IF he's not been learning necessary lessons, those areas will get more intense. Resisting instead of dealing with it makes it more of a struggle.

Saturn being the apex of the T-square and the trigger of a yod brings up a theme of boundaries and limits- feels like a tug of war with other people - when to compromise and when to say no. are you going to put up walls, or are you going to be open and honest. But again, how difficult this is depends on whether you work on it or shut down

Venus is making a yod with Neptune and Pluto and is opposite Saturn though a little bit wide - the themes here are, what do you really value? what's real in your life and what are things you're projecting or that turned out to be illusions? you might be faced with your control issues. Neptune and Pluto making inconjuncts to Venus can play out as relationships or finances being pulled in directions you didn't intend, or things not going according to your plan.

He has Venus square Saturn in his birth chart- this year he has Venus opposite Saturn in this chart, so the themes of the square, including low self worth and what part that plays in his relationships might come up. being pressed to balance and make compromises between what he needs and what others need comes up yet again

Hello! Thanks for remembering me for my astrology posts, those happened a few months ago. (For those who haven’t seen it and are curious, I did a really thorough astrological examination of Tessa and Scott a while ago. You can find the masterlist here or look through my astrology tag for other questions.)

Indeed, Tessa is in her Saturn return at the moment. It typically begins around ages 27-30, when a person’s Saturn placement returns to the sign they were originally born in. Here are some basic facts about her Saturn return, and what it means:

For Tessa, it had taken 28 years for her Saturn sign to orbit completely and return back to its original sign, Capricorn. Which is also, coincidentally, the sign ruled by Saturn.

Her Saturn return began on December 19, 2017 and will last until March 21, 2020. 

Saturn returns can be—quite honestly—cruel. They put the person through a lot of emotional turmoil and through their toughest lessons, because planet Saturn wants to whip them into shape and turn them into the best human they can possible be. 

Saturn returns are considered a rite of passage in the astrological world. It basically takes the human that you are, puts you through a bender of crap, then spits you back out a better person. 

I would like to point out, at this point, that Scott has already endured his Saturn return. It began from September 17, 2015 and lasted until December 18, 2017.

Saturn returns are all about learning lessons. This phase will force a person to realize the right method to go about solving a problem. (Potentially, a problem they’ve endured many times in their life.)

I read a really interesting thing about Tessa’s Saturn return which might apply but I don’t know, obviously. Here’s what it says on this site:

“Goals, goals, goals! You may be obsessed with success to a detriment, and your Saturn Return will remind you that the end does not always justify the means. […] Ambitious Capricorn is associated with men and the father. Daddy issues could plague you, or you may have a strained or distant relationship with your father. Or, your dad could have been very stern and authoritative, making it difficult for you to express yourself in his company. These will need to be dealt with during the Saturn Return, but powerful men will also help you manifest your dreams. Big business could call your name. You may return to school for an MBA, be promoted to a director’s position, or open up shop on your own venture. Hello, CEO.”

Regarding Scott in his Neptune opposition Venus phase… I’ll admit I didn’t even know this was a thing, so I had to do some research before answering this ask, lol. But I think I’m equipped to answer it now, sort of.

Planet Venus does not move slowly (unlike Saturn), so I’d imagine this phase will occur multiple times throughout a person’s life. 

Neptune opposite Venus in the transit (which means, when it’s moved into this phase in a person’s chart, as Scott wasn’t born with this conjunction) can definitely have an impact. This is because Neptune clouds judgment and causes confusion, so it can definitely disrupt the Venus sign, which means it will disrupt relationships that are already occurring, or influence a person to enter a relationship (or multiple relationships) that they shouldn’t be in.

Neptune opposition Venus can influence you to “fall victim to people who seek to take advantage of your caring and accepting nature. People may see your niceness as a weakness, appearing more loving or generous than they are. Over idealization or gullibility can lead to embarrassment or disappointment in love, or financial losses that would all have a harmful effect on your self-esteem. You need to be more aware of the potential dangers of any offers, schemes or dating sites at the moment. Being generous and giving also has it problems at the moment. “Nothing will come of the matter” is the general interpretation you give to VM, but I wonder if you could clarify that? Someone once told me VM was a good time to commit a crime, based on the same interpretation. But is it literally ‘Nothing will result’, or more so Nothing constructive will result? Someone who commits a crime and ends up in prison -in many (Not all) cases we would say that “nothing” came of this life of crime. But obviously there *were* consequences, just not constructive ones.

Back in the BCE days, astrology was entirely “electional” - answering the rulers’ questions. Is this a good time to attack my enemy? Which princess should I marry? Is the Chief Priest for or against me? It was observed over the eons that, after the Moon had made its final major aspect (conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition) to one of the planets, the time period which followed was basically “fallow” - nothing would come of the matter.

Back then they had only the seven visible planets to work with. In the US we currently extend the “major aspects” to include those with Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, even though we can’t see them. And that begs the question, what about the Asteroids and the Centaurs?

Sometimes the Moon will be void, but will make a major aspect to something in your chart. This tends to sustain your judgement (Debbi Kempton Smith) but is still, well, null and void.

It is possible to use this - I always submit my annual income taxes during void Moons, for example, to avoid audits or any other issues, and it works just fine for that. If you didn’t want to do something, perhaps starting it during a void Moon would sabotage the project, too.

Scott Moir and Charlie White 9/2/87 and 10/24/87

Scott and Charlie are close in age- Scott's older by 52 days. So their slower placements are quite similar. Those represent something of the times and world you grow up in, so the two of them have a lot in common in their makeup and influences. They have North Node in Aries at the same degree, Chiron in Gemini at the same degree, and all the slower planets from Jupiter to Pluto in the same signs. So for instance, their Neptunes are both at 5 Capricorn, so Charlie relates to Scott's Neptune pretty much like he relates to his own. There are parts of their dynamic which feel very natural to them because they live with the same energy in themselves.

Without birth times, we don't have houses, which would make a big difference in how these placements express themselves in each of them. So we can only look at signs and aspects.

Scott has a lot of Virgo and Sagittarius in his chart. Charlie has a ton of Scorpio, with a Libra Mars. The Virgo energy in Scott makes a flowing sextile (60° angle) to Charlie's Scorpio - earth and water signs are harmonious. Scott is extremely mutable, so he's adaptable but can be ungrounded, while Charlie has a lot of fixed energy which is very steady, but can get stubbornly set in his ways. So they complement each other well- Scott needs steady, grounded people around him, and Charlie is enlivened by flexible, more spontaneous ones.

I'm going to focus on the composite rather than synastry because many of the synastry aspects are either in their own charts or are echoed in the composite.

Composite charts come into play only when people are in active relationship with each other, so it was most present when they were training together, but still would be in play now when they're in touch:

Sun square Neptune: idealism and sensitivity between you where you can read each other well. but also a possibility of not showing who you really are, or revealing what's really going on, so a level of distrust or disillusionment can develop. It particularly can play into weak spots in your egos.

Mercury conjunct Venus: affection for each other. a shared sense of what you consider beautiful, especially in art. a tendency to be kind in how you speak to each other and have sensitivity towards each other's feelings.

Mercury/Venus sextile Saturn: Saturn has a restraining effect on the other two planets, so the way you show affection might be kind of quiet, but this gives a steady longevity to the positive feelings and respect you have for each other

Mars square Uranus with Pluto at the midpoint: high energy between you. your individual objectives may be in conflict 👀 an unpredictable connection. isn't going to have a steady course. they have this aspect very close, and Pluto in the middle making semi-squares to both amps this up even more and adds an element of ego conflict and competition but also a way that they force each other to grow and change at a deep level. also that over time, the relationship itself goes through great change and can be reborn in another form

Jupiter trine Uranus: something unusual about this relationship- it needs to follow its own patterns and won't look like a typical friendship. a lot of forward looking creative energy between you where you inspire optimism in the future and spark new ideas in each other.
