Dang, why aren’t they translating the social media comments? They are really important to the plot and the topic they want to show here....

They really get the internet twitter culture right so far.... including the real shipping demands and more NC scenes vs anti-fanservice crowd vs the LGBTq crowd who demands proper representation + the people who demand actors to out themselves in order to be allowed to display ‘gay interactions’ on screen and RL. And the whole cancle culture once something happens.

Haven’t quite moved on yet. Wish there would’ve been more episodes with them than just 5. Wish a lot more people would’ve liked the show and that it would’ve actually sparked a fandom where people write fanfics that I could read.

But I guess I understand why the show doesn’t seem to have been nearly as popular as other BL series. Same goes for Secret Crush on You, if for different reasons, I guess. Personally, I didn’t like SCOY as much either. I’m sorry.

Wish there was a chance for another series with the two of them. But probably not.

Obviously, I liked Seng Wichai’s acting a lot, especially of course in War of Y - New Ship. But playing such totally different characters such as Toh in SCOY and Pan in WOY deserves massive amounts of kudos regardless of which series I liked more!

And then there was Spider .He was just stuck here.Too young for a cryo-capsule.Orphaned by the war he was rased by the lab guys.He wasent a part of out family.He was like a  stray cat.Just always around insaperable from our kids. To Neytiri Spider would always be alien. One of them.

Happiness is simple.Like date night.Time away from the kids.

But a thing about happiness…..it can vanish in a hearbeat.A new star in the night sky.It can only mean one thing.Ships.Decelerating.And the sky people returning.

y/n pov:

I was riding my ikran as i was flying next to Loak and Nateyam. All the warriors on ikrans and Direhorses were ambushing a train from the sky people.The train exploded and the warriors on the Direhorses went to get some weapons that are still able to be used.Loak,Nateyam and i are supposed to stay on our ikrans and worn the others if the sky people come.Spotters. That is what we are supposed to be. The fact Jake even leted me join them was a miracle.I did see him as a father figure but to me he was not my father.But i clearly was a daughter for him.

Loak:We have to go down there.

Neteyam: No way father will kill us.

y/n:Dont be a skxawng.If we go down there we could die.

Loak:Oh come on you guys.

Said Loak as he started to fly to the ground.

Neteyam:Lo'ak, come back!

Yelled Neteyam as he went after him.

y/n:Nateyam,Loak come back you idiots!

Neteyam:Stay there y/n! I got this!

I groaned in anger as i followed them.There is no way im letting them go down there alone.

I quickly followed them and just as i landed a few seconds after Nateyam i ran to him as i saw a navi giving Loak a gun.

Neteyam:Lo'ak, you don't even know how to use it.

Loak:Dad showed me that.

Said Loak to Nateyam with the sound of pride in his voice.

y/n:Dear Eywa you two are skxawngs.

Neteyam:Y/n? I told you to not follow us.

y/n:Im not ganna let you two be here alone.

Neteyam:You can get hurt.

y/n:So can you two.

Loak:Oh calm down y/n we are all okay.

 Just as Loak said that a helicopter gunship came into view.

Neteyam:Shit. Come on guys lets go

Said Neteyam as he grabbed my hand and started to pull me to the ikrans. We were runing to our ikrans as i Neteyam and Loak were thrown up in the sky.Im guessing the helicopter gunship fired.I was not thrown to far away i got a little hurt but i was just happy i was alive.I looked around scared as i saw Jake coming towards me with Nateyam in his arms.I did not care about my small injury the only thing i cared about at this moment is if Nateyam is ok.

Jake:You ok baby girl?

y/n:Yeah im fine is, is he hurt?

I asked worried.

Neteyam:Im…good.

I could hear Neteyam mumble.

Jake:Yes he is but he will be good dont worry, now lets go back before more of them come.

He said as we walked to our ikrans with Loak already being there.I got on my ikran as Neteyam got on Jakes.

y/n:Loak are you hurt?

I asked as i looked over at him.

Loak:Im fine.

He said as we all took off flying.

As we all got home Tuk , Kiri and Spider were there waiting for us as we landed.I got down from my ikran and waited for the rest to join me on the ground.The second Nateyam got down from dads ikran i was next to him looking at his wounds.

y/n:If Jake wont kick your ass for being this stupid i will.

I wispered to Neteyam as he smiled at me.

Jake:Fall in!You guys are spotters. You must keep an eye out for enemies. At a distance!

Kiri joined me next to Nateyam looking at his wounds as i was now looking at the ground in shame.

Jake: Kiri, go help with the wounded.

Said Jake trying to not sound angry at Kiri since she did nothing wrong.

Kiri:My brother is also injured.

Jake: Tuk, go with her.

He said as Kiri roled her eyes and went of to grandma with tuk.

Neteyam: Father, I take full responsibility.

Dear Eywa Neteyam why are you so stupid.You dont need to take the blame for everything.

Jake:Yes, because you are the oldest

Neytiri: MaJake, your son is bleeding.

Neteyam:It doesn't matter, mother.

I glared at him as he said that clearly not happy with what he said.

Jake:Go in and get patched up.

I gently pushed Neteyam away towards one of the tends. And as Nateyam went of with Neytiri after him i , Loak and Jake wore left alone.

y/n:Jake dont blame Nateyam it was me, i should have never leted them go down there.

I said not wanting Loak to get in more trouble.

Now that i think about it im just like Neteyam.

Jake:No baby girl its not your fault, go to Kiri im sure she will be happy to get some help with the wounded.

I glanced at Loak and gived him a sad smile as i left as i could still hear Jake talk to Loak.

Jake:You must be aware that you almost got your siblings killed.

Loak:Yes sir.

Jake:You are banned from flying for a month.Dismount the ikrans. All of them.And wipe the nastiness off your face.

 That was the last thing i heard as i made my way to the tent my sisters and the rest were in.I took a sit next to Nateyam looking at the wound he had.

y/n:Your okay? Yeah right.

Neteyam:Its not that bad.I have had worse.

I rolled my eyes as i looked away from him.

Moat: Give him this.

Kiri: I would use yalnabark.

Moat: Aha. Who is tsahik here?

Kiri:You are, grandma, but yalnabark is better.It hurts less.

Said Kiri puting what ever was inside the small wooden pot on to Nateyam.

By then Loak came to us and walked around Nateyam to go sit on the other side.

Loak: Mighty warriors.

Said Loak teasingly.I chuckled as i smirked at Neteyam.

y/n:My mighty warrior.

I said teasingly as i was meet with a blush on Neteyams face.

It was not a long time after Nateyams wounds were healed me Kiri,Spider and Loak made our way to one of the labs.We were walking thru the camp some of the avatars were going to rest in.

Norm:Hey, Spider.

Spider:Your ass is mine

Norm:Im right hire

Norm said jokingly.

:Avatars only, go around!

Said a fimale as Kiri made a stupid noise in return that made me smile.

Loak: The blue stripes don't make you bigger.

Said Loak to Spider as we made our way in to the lab.

Spider:Yeah well i can still kick your ass.

y/n: Oh stop it you skxawngs , we all know I could kick both of your asses at any time of the day.

Spider:Yeah ha ha wery funny.

Spider said as we all go in to the lab.

Spider:You know what really sucks,you can breath our air hire for  hours.And i can only inhale yours for ten seconds.

Kiri:Yeah that really sucks monkey boy,for you.

Said Kiri as she took one of the masks.Just as the took one of the masks Spider grabed Kiris tail as she hissed at him.That made him hiss back .

Kiri: Hey max

Max:Hey kids

Said Max.As Kiri and Spider stoped the little play fight they just had .

Loak:Wats up Max

Loak  said as him Spider and i went over to them and Kiri made her way over to our mom.

Max:Hey guys how are you two

I could hear Max ask as i walked after Kiri.

She said softly as she looked at her.

y/n:She looks just like you.

I said smiling at Kiri.While  she had a lot of features similar to moms i had hardly any.

Loak:So whu do you think knocked her up?

Spider:Pretty sure it was Norm.

y/n:You do not deserve to live

I said with a annoyed look on my face.

Loak:No no no ,think about it.I mean he is the teachers pet.He is out at the lab with her all the time.

Kiri:I would kill myself.I would drink acid.

Spider:Bro your right he is like in every shot.Bro look look he is giving her the look

Kiri:Hey

Said Kiri, i could hear the sadness in her voice.That made Spider shut up.Ofc it did i know he likes Kiri so it makes sence he does not want to make her sad.

Loak:See im thinking there are two avatars  in the woods all alone

Said Kiri as she pushed him.

Spider:Guys i mean sometimes its not so good to know who your father was.

Said Loak with sympathy in his voice.

I  said as i hugged him from the back.

Kiri:She is right Spider you are not and never will be like him

Said kiri now standing right nex to him putting her hand on his shoulder.We stayed like this for some time,me hugging Spider from the back,Kiri patting his head and Loak just standing there.Spider was happy 99% and that 1 % of sadnes was when we started to talk about his dad or maybe just something that remindet him of his father.I never liked it when he was sad so i did my best to make him smile again.

Max:Kids you should go back home its getting late

Loak:On it

Replied Loak.And just as he said that he started to pull me Kiri and Spider out of the lab.

Loak:Come on guys i dont want dad to be mad

Said Loak as we made out way out of the lab.

y/n:Yeah yeah your just scared he will be mad with you,you little baby.

I told Loak with a smirk on my face.He started to protest but i turned away to look at Spider.

y/n:Sleep well Spider.

Spider:Yeah you too Ri

Loak:Ok lets go

I smirked as i gently pulled Loaks tail.He hissed at me as he started to run after me.

 As i and Loak made our way to the tent we all were living in Tuk was already waiting for us in her little bed.Dad was cleaning some guns,mom was preparing  her side of the bed and Nateyam was standing in the door way looking at me and Loak.

-Nateyam!

I shouted as i hugged him and stepped behinde him.

Neteyam:Riti.Loak giving you trouble again?

He asked as he gived a smirk to Loak.Ever since i was 3 years old Loak and i played a lot.Thoes games always endet in me running to Nateyam to seak shelter.He was always so proud that i saw him as someone i trust.And the fact i ran to him if i was in danger made him happy and proud.So he always looked at Loak with a face telling him i see him as someone that can protect me while he was the person i was running away from.

Loak:Not fair. You always hide behind him.

He protested as i showed him my tongue.

Loak:One day he wont be here to protect you.

I rolled my eyes playfuly as i glanced up at Neteyam.

Neteyam:Go to bed Riti.

y/n:Fine fine.

I said chuckeling as i walked to my spot and laid down.After some time everyone was lying fully or just half asleep.Neteyam was lying next to me with his eyes closed.

y/n:I cant sleep.

I wispered as i was meet with his eyes slowly opening.

Neteyam:Maybe if you stay quiet you will be able to.

y/n:Or a story.

I said smirking.When i was younger Jake told me stories before i went to sleep.He stoped some time ago as i thought i was too old for that but i still beg Neteyam to tell me stories.

Neteyam just turned fully to me and took a deap breath in as he started to tell me a story.I didnt know what story it was as i was sleeping about  5 minutes in the story.His voice was deep and at night it really helped me falling asleep.Before i could drift of to sleep i could feel something warm on my hand.I was not sure what it was but my best guess was it was Neteyams hand.

180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us

This first ep just wow. I have really high hopes for this. If the quality continues it might just end up being the best thing I have seen so far.

21 Days Theory

Is this anything special? No. But do I like it? Yes. The only thing that worries me is that it’s only going to be 4 eps. We had 2 eps so far and we are only on day 3/4 of the bet. I feel like they will rush the ending.

Same as before. Nothing changed, still boring. Atleast I liked the part were Tee is trying find himself a new parter.

Still enjoying this show. But I knew the rejection was coming. The ending of this ep hurt. And Japanese BL’s continue to hit differntly.

It’s still the side couple were it is. The storyline of the main couple is so damm boring. We are at EP7 and Kim continues to be an asshole for no reason.

The Eclipse

This show came in with a bang! First ep and I am already loving this. Had problems with sound mixing in ep1 but the director promised to fix it.

Unforgotten Night

Communication kings! Kamol has no secrets and he keeps telling Kim that he can ask him anything he wants.

War of Y

The angst in this BL. But this is good. Way better then some other director who claimed to be all about the dark side of BL. But I can see people not liking this show because they wanne keep on being in denial and pretend te BL world is all rainbows and sunshine. Because those people use BL as an escape from real life. So we can’t have their escape to be kinda harmful for the actors in it.

I just finished watching Tales of the Jedi for the 2nd time and I’d like to share my thoughts.

Spoilers for TotJ!!!

The series overall—Animation was ok (I mentioned how Rex/the clone model still looked off here) but overall it was good (especially the environments). THE MUSIC WAS 💯💕 BEAUTIFUL. There were a few things that was kinda like 🤔 but it’s nothing too major and I had some thoughts on what I, personally, would’ve liked to see.

Ep1–Life and Death

—Thought it was good. Baby Ahsoka’s design is similar to the one shown briefly in CW 👍

—The panda dog things were adorable and the food they eat looks SO SIMILAR to Mantell Mix

—The village elder does 3 hand poses (and says something in their native language) when Ahsoka’s mom made a kill, which reminded me of Rebels and the 3 hand poses that opens the portal thing

—Giant cat looked very tiger-y and immediately thought of Jungle Book, though the stories are very different.

Ep2–Justice

—Loved Young Dooku/Quigon duo. Like their designs/interactions, everything, was really good imo

—Dooku wears a cape and not a jedi robe

—Quigon didn’t have his padawan braid but I guess that was time between Padawan/Knight.

—Liked the fact that the senator’s son wasn’t upset about being kidnapped. Loved 2 Ton’s design (the droid)

—clearly sets up Dooku’s fall to the dark side.

Ep3–Choices

—The Mace/Dooku duo was something I’ve wanted since seeing them in Attack of the Clones.

—Mace’s design is also changed slightly (like Anakin/Ahsoka/Obi) to keep up with the better technology. How old is Mace? I honestly don’t know and actually expected him to look a bit younger. Like I know he trained Depa Bilaba (Caleb/Kanan’s master) but, to me, he seemed to be the same age as he was in CW.

—Loved that AotC was more of a noir/detective movie and seemed to continue into this episode (Windu/Dooku solving a jedi murder case).

—I think the guard guy that Mace killed was the son of the guy with the different colored eyes. Which means Mace killed someone’s son and left a father without a child and he also killed Boba’s father Jango, leaving Boba without a father. That’s just my opinion/HC and wasn’t confirmed or anything.

—MACE DID NOT STEAL THE COUNCIL SEAT FROM DOOKU! From context, Dooku has no problem doing things his way and explaining it to the Council. That means this has happened more than the one time we saw in context of this episode. I believe Dooku never really had a chance at a seat on the Council. He believed he did. I think his own ego/shortsightedness blinded Dooku into believing he was guaranteed a spot on the Council

—By now it’s clear that Anakin and Dooku have a lot in common (think RotS when Anakin got upset that he wasn’t a ‘master’ but on the Council)

Ep4–The Sith Lord

—This was my favorite episode!

—MASTER YADDLE!!! FINALLY!!! I believe we first see her in The Phantom Menace when Anakin is brought to the Temple on Coruscant and the jedi are testing him. She appears briefly in the background and has no speaking lines if I remember correctly. I know Yaddle has a different story in Star Wars Legends (the Extended Universe—books/video games etc) but I actually really enjoyed seeing her.

—Her relationship with Dooku seemed really important. Dooku was Yoda’s padawan and my own HC is that Yaddle and Yoda are Grogu’s (Baby Yoda) parents. I believe Yoda/Dooku/Yaddle were kind of like Anakin/Ahsoka/Obiwan respectively. Ahsoka is Anakin’s padawan but also had Obi-wan as a friend/mentor just like Dooku is Yoda’s padawan, but also seemed to be friends with Yaddle.

—Also I believe this was the only episode that is set during one of the movies (Phantom Menace). Dooku talks with Quigon about the Sith Lord (Darth Maul) that he and Obiwan encountered on Tatooine before it changes to Yaddle informing Dooku about Quigon’s funeral (after being killed by Maul on Naboo). She is clearly concerned about Dooku, especially when he says he must let Quigon go as he’s one with the Force. She asks him if he ‘can do this’, to which he responds with ‘what choice have I?’

—Dooku’s always been shown to have great control over his emotions (which is why he doesn’t have sith eyes) but despite that, Yaddle’s concern wins out and she follows him to his meeting with Emperor Palpatine.

—DOOKU LOVED QUIGON JUST LIKE OBI LOVED ANAKIN! His convo with Yaddle earlier (about the tree) clearly showed that. And he was RIGHTLY upset that Palpy had him killed by Maul.

—SHE LEFT THE COUNCIL FOR DOOKU!!! SHE EVEN ADMITTED HE WAS RIGHT!! That is love right there. She clearly had a loving friendship relationship with Dooku for her to leave the Council. And what does Obi-wan tell Satine? ‘Had you said the word, I would’ve left the Jedi Order’. Yaddle probably didn’t think of Dooku in a romantic way (I hope), but she obviously cared about him just as he cared for Quigon.

—YADDLE BEGGED DOOKU TO HELP HER BRING PALPY TO JUSTICE.

—THAT WHOLE FIGHT, JESUS!

—Ok, whoever is in charge of ratings sucks cuz there’s no way that this episode was TV-PG. Yaddle’s death was BRUTAL! Like they didn’t really show the blade connecting, but they showed her lifeless body after, made the saber-on-flesh-sound, and showed Dooku beginning the execution move. JESUS Disney. Shit

Ep5–Practice Makes Perfect

—Seeing young Anakin and mullet-Obiwan in clone armor made me SO HAPPY!!!

—The sass is still there!! AAHHH!!!

—Plo Koon sitting with Yoda, Obiwan and Anakin watching Ahsoka proudly was such a dad-move!!!

—And seeing young Caleb/Kanan and Bilaba at Ahsoka’s training test was amazing! And he was so obviously gushing about Ahsoka to Bilaba when they walked out lol

—MASTER SINUBE!!! GRAMPS!!! Was this before or after that Lightsaber Lost ep?!?!

—Of course Anakin was unimpressed with the test and unintentionally taught her how to survive O66.

—Seeing the clones in phase 1 armor again made me flash back to early CW animation.

—ABSOLUTELY LOVED JESSE’S LITTLE ‘Sorry Commander!’ As it was funny in the moment and tragic when you think about the fact that Jesse lead the turned clones during O66 and was going to kill Ahsoka (and possibly Rex too).

—I think this episode is the only one with a time skip. Loved the transition of the stuns and Ahsoka waking up older and seeing the clones in their phase 2 armor.

—THEY MADE ANAKIN’S TRAINING INTO A GAME!!!

—Then skipped again to O66 with Ahsoka and Rex walking into the hangar full of clones ready to kill them (with Jesse out front).

—Gave me Arcane ep7 Ekko/Jinx vibes TO THE MAX!! (Though if I’m being honest, I preferred Arcane’s version though it’s so close lol).

Ep6–Resolve

—Ok so I think out of all of them, this one’s the worst.

—Don’t get me wrong, it was ok, but out of every ep, I didn’t really care for it.

—My fav part/scene was Padme’s funeral and Bail’s convo with her.

—Ahsoka is living in hiding in a small farming village that has Empire presence I guess.

—Ahsoka has to use the Force to save one of the workers, who realizes Ahsoka is a jedi. Her brother rats Ahsoka out and an Inquisitor comes. From what I’ve heard online, it’s the 6th Brother?? Idk so please correct me if I’m wrong (I believe we’ve seen the 3rd Sister-Reva, 5th Brother, 7th Sister, and the 8th Brother briefly)

—So I’ve never gotten into SW Legends (the Extended Universe), but apparently from what I’ve seen online, this episode is supposed to be an animated version of a book called Ahsoka. It’s basically telling the same story 2 different ways.

—That’s pretty lazy 🤔 to me. Like there are so many other story options (even within just Ahsoka) so it still could’ve worked out 3 v 3 (3 Ahsoka/3 Dooku) eps. I’ve never read the book but I believe it’s about Ahsoka’s time after O66 and how she gets her white lightsabers.

—I heard that the female worker Ahsoka saves is actually black/dark-skinned in the book which is blatant whitewashing (I think I also read that the character was also established as queer). She was replaced by a female with fair skin, straight brown hair and light hazel-y brown eyes. SERIOUSLY?! THE WHITEWASHING HAS TO STOP!!! POC MATTER (in the US, it’s Nov so it’s Native American Heritage month! And Nov 1st was dia de los muertos/day of the dead).

—The Inquisitor’s design looked cool af

—The fight was ok. Reminded me a little of Maul v Obiwan but b/c there was no obvious history it wasn’t very impactful. Liked how he faded away though. And from what I read, he’s voiced by Clancy Brown??? Really!? I love Clancy Brown!! Also it seemed like the Inquisitor knew Ahsoka (he knew her name), though Ahsoka made no connection to him.

I guess those are my main thoughts on the series as a whole and on each episode as well.

What I’d change:

—ep 6 entirely. I’d actually would’ve loved to see how Ahsoka got her second lightsaber instead of the Inquisitor.

—the whitewashed clone model obviously

—So I loved ep4 and Dooku vs Yaddle, BUT! How cool would it have been if Dooku’s saber slowly changed to purple as the fight went on before turning red as he struck down the Jedi Master?? I’m sure that would absolutely go against how lightsabers turn red, having to do with emotions/feelings and that Dooku is great at controlling his own emotions. I just think that would’ve been cool. Though I’m sure that goes against how he actually got them (assuming it’s explained in Legends or something).

—I loved ep1 and baby ‘Soka. But I also love Plo Koon. Would’ve died to see him discover her and talk with her parents/the village elder.

What I’d like to see going forward, assuming there will be a s2 (w/ 6eps):

—MORE CLONE CONTENT!! Gimme a story about Boil going back to Ryloth with Waxer’s armor (post Umbara) and telling Numa what happened to their ‘nera’. Gimme cadet cody/rex bonding! Gimme 99’s creation and demotion to maintenance!! Would also give Disney yet another chance to change the clone model (though if we do get more clone content I highly doubt they would). Gimme Jango/Boba bonding (bonus points for Omega’s creation) I’d like to know SPECIFICALLY what Jango told Boba to make him hate clones. Gimme Wolffe’s demotion from Marshall Commander cuz he lost the whole 104th on the Malevolence. Gimme more clone domestic-life with the boys painting their armor/being w/ their Jedi generals. Just GIMME MORE CLONE BOYS!!! UNWHITEWASHED!!!!

—You can’t tell me that Tales of the Clones wouldn’t be badass lol

—I’d love to see General Grievous’s backstory. From what I’ve seen online, he’s some sort of warrior-hero/savior to his people but the Empire (I think) turned him into what we know as ‘Grievous’. Also that’s not even his name (I forget what it really is, but b/c Grievous sounds like ‘grieve’ I have a bad feeling that it has to do with his people or something).

—Black Krrsantan (Santo-the black wookie form BoBF) or Chewie’s backstory. I know we get a bit of Chewie from Solo: A Star Wars Story and would honestly prefer more Santo content (I think he fights Obiwan in a comic or something) but idk how likely that would be.

—Samuel L. Jackson has stated that he wants to return to Mace Windu/SW and was quoted saying of Mace’s demise- ‘in Star Wars, people survive getting their hands chopped off all the time. So it’s possible,” (or something like that—point is, he thinks Mace could’ve survived his fall/chopped limb). Would love to see Mace post O66 if he in fact, lives.

—Grogu teaching younglings the Jedi and Mandalorian ways, diving into his backstory pre-Mando. I HC that he’s Yaddle and Yoda’s son. It would also give SW a chance to tell a story post—the Skywalker saga timeline (Phantom Menace all the way through to the Rise of Skywalker), since Grogu can out-live the characters in the sequel trilogy.

—I’d like to see High Republic era stuff. I know little to nothing about that era but from fanart I’ve seen, it looks dope af (I know the new animated show Young Jedi Adventures is supposed to be set during that era, but it’s aimed for preschoolers so obviously I’d like something more adult set in that era—but I’m still going to check it out when it releases! Lol)

—I played the SW computer game The Old Republic so I’d also love anything set during that era as well (Master Satele Shan, Master Orgus Din, etc)

Love In The Air Live Blogging

As a maker of terrible decisions, I’m starting watching this on the day a 10% assignment is due (which I’m not done) and 3 days before my midterm (which I haven’t started studying for).

I usually do my best to avoid spoilers but not for this show lol I know like 80% of what happened so far (released up to Ep 11) to prepare myself for the characters (specifically Payu and Prapai) and their questionable actions. Also, I’m slightly obsessed with Sky from these clips.

Ep 1 (Nov 2)

Cast Reaction: It was mostly them ganging up on Noeul as Rain lol They also seem to have fun watching scenes they weren’t in 

I do wonder if it’s better if I watch the show first so that these faces are just mostly the characters to me rather than watching the show and having it be “X playing Y” in my mind. I can’t really do that wish people I’ve watched before or know a lot about outside of the show (like so many GMMTV actors lol like I was watching eclipse and in my head it was First playing Akk rather than just Akk), so this is an opportunity that I get for rookie actors/people I haven’t watched before. But on the other hand, I’ll watch like 5 eps a day and finish early and have to wait for ep 13 otherwise so...

Ep 2 (Nov 2)

Y’know it’s interesting that Payu doesn’t like ill-mannered people or swearing because I feel like on a surface level that’s more of a uke trait. I guess it also helps that his other traits like being quite domineering and doing racing help counteract that also

Me watching this the day before my midterm (27 hours left...) and Rain’s getting scolded for being irresponsible and not using time wisely regarding school work ummmm why would you do this to me. Although I find the prof so annoying like submission due date at 8:30am what a joke and why is there no late penalty handing in? Profs like that are soooo annoying like “if I extend it for you, how many would I have to extend?” like bruv give people some wiggle room

Aw, poor Rain, he’s in first year right? Tough times, uni was so different than high school for us and it was a wild time to come being one of the better students in your class to a place where pretty much everybody is as good as you or better. I wonder how much this is worth lol cuz I’ve gotten used to taking Ls on stuff that’s worth 10% or less, it’s the 20% or greater Ls that hurt now but even then, gotta get over it quick or else you’ll fail the next thing

My midterms just ended tonight so I’ve also been having a Fun Time and I’ll be sleeping so well tonight but after that I’ll have to catch up on 2 weeks of work on 2 different classes that I’ve neglected cuz that material won’t be on the midterm rip

lol the state of love interests in BL is so shit that I was pleasantly surprised by Payu not resorting to violence or provocation at the race (which is his workplace) despite the shitty rich kid. He did provoke a bit with words toward the end but like deserved

Cast Reaction: Always fun to see Boss shrivel up and be cute about the makeout and NC scenes. hilarious to see him say “It’s not me, It’s Payu!” about the scene where Payu tells Rain to take off the suit or whatever before the race (12:30m). Seeing all of them literally pass away while watching the NC was hilarious lol, after it ended it looked like all them came down from a roller coaster. lmfao watched the longer part of them watching the NC scene on a diff youtube clip and they just screamed and yelled the whole time, so funny; Fort was right saying that was tiring. 

Ep 7 (Nov 7)

The kidnapping’s kinda just meh, like sure. It’s like the ep 10 conflict w the gun in Bad Buddy like why can’t we keep shows that have mostly internal and interpersonal conflict that way without throwing in a random gun/kidnapping for some plot. 

It wasn’t that cool either cuz it was just Payu going and getting beat up (which makes sense lmao he’s not a trained fighter nor a mafioso). kinda interesting once again that they didn’t make him sooo cool and better than everybody that he can take all of them. Rain on the other hand was really ballsy though, probably too much considering he was tied up and could do nothing 

lol Rain’s iconic “*kick!* only P’Payu can screw me!” and Payu’s big ass grin when Rain walks back to him afterward is cute lol

lol the telling friends about their relationship was funny when I watched clips of it and it’s still funny now. I’m gonna ignore how Sky didn’t have permission to say Rain’s dating someone nor did he say it’s okay for Payu to say they’re dating in front of all his friends

oh yeah I knew Payu tampered with Rain’s car. It’s one of the early ep things that I’m just: ignoring. “You won’t love me after learning the truth?” well, i’d certainly reconsider

Fave Scene: The telling friends scene I guess

PayuRain story is done. Overall thoughts is that I thought I’d have to ignore more things than I did lol; like it’s just the very first night, the bathroom, the spanking, and the car tempering that are questionable and those happened really early on. I don’t like that people say that’s just their brat/tamer dynamics because you do need to agree upon the dynamics first. Anyway, still fun dynamic if you don’t think about how uncomfortable it is.

I don’t get people saying this had no plot because ? Character growth and growing into a relationship is like a fair plot for a BL, esp because so many bls are already like that. so i don’t get it.

Enjoyable but not a fave.

The Prapai/Sky bits in this ep were giving me such mixed feelings cuz it’s actually really appealing to me but like, even as a lover of fucking rancid dynamics, Prapai being a creep to a traumatized abuse victim is just a lot. like some of the spoilers I’ve heard... I like Sky so much though, I just want better for him

Ep 8 (Nov 8)

I would’ve been way more eager to start this if ep 13 didn’t piss everyone off. ahh i’ll try to enjoy it as much as i can bc i think it’s a very interesting story and dynamic still

Unwanted tally of Rain being a shitty friend: leaving Sky during the race (and not even wondering what happened to him), giving Prapai Sky’s number

Watching this is like I really don’t know how to feel. Fort was probably Payu-level teasing with the “ooh yknow what you have to do to leave” but Sky took it literally cause of the past abuse T.T Can’t even watch the sex scene without thinking of how Sky’s gonna feel hurt by it and how he feels coerced into it

finally watching 2 eps in the same day again. midterm season ended, i’m a little caught up on homework and i gotta make sure i get to ep 13 by thursday 

Prapai also bi/pan and also there’s something kinda ew about how his siblings and he discuss sleeping with people like that’s your siblinggggg but Pai holding both their heads and vibrating was cute and sibling-like

nooo even the mention of ‘love’ taking Sky to a bad place

sky canon nipple piercings... but also apprehension bc idk where he got them, considering his past trauma and abuse

This sort of stalking and sleaziness from Prapai is slightly off-putting but I could probably put up with it, esp once Sky decides he likes him

Sky nightmare :( but then Sky unconsciously smiling at Prapai’s texts. Reminds me of The Eclipse with Ayan’s nightmares and Akk’s smiling at Ayan’s text

Has P’Som been useful in any way ever? Annoying ass character

Dang, does Sky have nightmares every time he sleeps? Makes sense why he always seems to stay awake when his friends come over for all-nighters and naps

How the fuck am I supposed to root for Prapai when he keeps getting new SIMs to get around Sky blocking him and texting him so much that he worsens Sky’s breakdown over his ex and his abuse. Seeing Sky being so upset about these texts and calls is just agh

Rain strike 3: giving sick Sky’s dorm keys to Prapai despite Sky having gotten mad at him for giving Pai his phone number + insisting times he doesn’t like Pai

A taking care of sick boyfriend (to be) is cute if yknow... it’s not so greatly against the sick person’s wishes

Cast Reaction: Fort and Peat both looked really good in this reaction lol Also Fort’s reaction was kinda fun cuz I think he’d sometimes get confused lol and also he was actually sad at the sad parts. I think it was fun cuz it seemed like they were also watching it as the audience instead of as the actors

I don’t even know what to say like why couldn’t it just have been like regular levels of creep and more of us seeing Sky fall for him and saying no to guard his heart. Why the hell would I wanna support Prapai after his relentless texting and calling made Sky’s breakdown worse and had him yelling while clutching and pounding his bedsheets.

I don’t like when the situation is just main character’s love interest has made him unable to escape 

Ep 10 (Nov 9)

I’m really excited for this ep because I think I’m gonna love it and my favourite scene that initially made me very interested in the Sky/Prapai arc is in here.

Also, I’m fully intending to ignore nearly every red flag of Prapai in this ep unless it’s wayy too big, so.

Oof, the finale coming out in 12 hours bc I didn’t time this correctly lol I have love in the air blacklisted on here now bc I don’t wanna be spoiled for ep 13 hmmm I think I’m gonna watch this, watch ep 12 immediately after waking up and look at tumblr and stuff then, and then avoid tumblr and twitter until I can watch ep 13 at like 5 after my lecture. hm

Cast Reaction: During the NC scene, Fort tried to cover his eyes, then Peat’s eyes, then his eyes again all within a second lmfao. Also Fort mentioned the hair pulling >:) they said it’s a very romantic NC scene compared to ep 8 and yesh, I agree

I... don’t know how I’ll feel about this ep, I’ll be honest. I’ll try to do the ‘ignore pai’s questionable behaviour’ thing but will it hold up? Lemme rewatch the ep 11 NC scene full of romance and love and care before i start this lol

what a distressing scene rip there are so many things I feel where it’s like Pai was seen by Sky being too touchy with some other dude (and he should’ve detangled himself earlier but was he really at so much fault? he didn’t do anything but nicely establish some boundaries) --> Sky ghosted Pai and was very mean to him when breaking up on the phone (and it wasn’t right of him to do that but also it’s due to his past trauma and insecurities) --> Pai going to Sky’s dorm and reading his diary (bro is like fuckkkk boundaries but also him reading out loud Sky’s entries was insane and I think Fort did well) and then idk how to feel about Sky’s love confession

“I wonder where you got this idea that I’ll tire of you one day”

they’re really running with the Rain Dumb As Rocks thing but like lol the attempt at 2 convos at once was funny

Fave Scene: Pai during the phone call to Sky (esp the “you pick up when it’s not my number?” and the tears at the end of the call) and the way Pai was speaking during the diary scene. Also Pai kinda playing with Sky during the papercut scene

Cast Reaction: Boss and Noeul were there this time. Lots of talking about character motivations and Fort cried and Noeul got teary-eyed

That wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be; I’d seen a lot of complaints so I thought it’d be worse but it was just kinda sad distressing because they were both hurting and then hurting each other because of it and I can empathize with both.

Okay I was nervous about this ep because of certain spoilers and because I heard some general dissatisfaction but when watching, I could see where both characters were coming from and why they were reacting the way they were. There was something slightly off about the episode to me (was it disjointed writing? maybe iffy editing? idk) but I thought it'd take me back to how I felt about ep 8/9 Pai but nah, the characters' actions and progressions made sense to me based on who they are so far

I thought it was good at showing the sadness of the situation like Sky's insecurities and past experience make him ghost and lash out at Pai on the phone and Pai is understandably hurt and and although the breach of privacy by just going in Sky's room and reading his diary is a lot for me, I knew Pai was like that from ep 8 so lol

Also, I’m becoming more impressed with Fort’s acting because I didn’t think much of it before but in ep 10 when he was upset with Sky for the panic-inducing call and this ep when he was angry (”...you pick up when it’s not my number?”) and sad during his breakup call with Sky were idk good at showing intense but subdued emotions. him reading the diary entries out loud was wild though like it was making me nervous and I thought he did well. I think he’d just do better in a role that’s not a “dom, older dude” because he’s better when he’s not tryna pull off the sleazy domtop thing and he was giving me ‘younger seme’ vibes in ep 9 and 10.

Also, people have been saying Sky in the diary scene was just supposed to be not crying tears but rather yelling and hyperventilating etc the way he was but I wish the show actually showed that.

Ep 13 (Nov 10)

Okay, last episode came out like 9 hours ago, time to watch it. I’m glad I waited to watch it instead of as soon as it came out though because apparently it’s extremely triggering and they do a weirdly realistic job portraying Sky’s abuse and SA. So. I’m nervous about that. 

People have said it’s in general a strong episode (even if they have gripes about the portrayal of SA)

I wish there was more of a mention of Sky’s future healing journey plans than just Pai being a good boyfriend and remembering an actor’s quote

Fave Scene: The scene of Gun smoking while Pai was happy lying behind him filled me with so much dread; loved the lighter sound motif throughout the ep as well. Liked seeing Fort’s subdued tears and sadness about Sky’s situation. 

A good finale, although I wish the parts after Sky told Pai what happened were a bit different? I wish we got something more about plans for a healing journey being Pai being beside Sky. Also, I wanted to see Gun die with my own two eyes.

Overall Thoughts:

RainPayu - PayuRain story is done. Overall thoughts is that I thought I’d have to ignore more things than I did lol; a few things happen early on and we can ignore that + the fact that there wasn’t consent/discussion for a brat/tamer dynamic and just enjoy it - still a fun dynamic. I don’t get people saying this had no plot because ? Character growth and growing into a relationship is like a fair plot for a BL, esp because so many bls are already like that. so i don’t get it. Enjoyable but not a fave; I think the fact that I got into PaiSky the very next day also made me kinda forget about this pair.

PaiSky - They took up much more of my brainspace than PayuRain, both in good and bad ways. Pai was shitty in the first few eps of their story (mans is fr a stalker, doesn’t take no ew) but he’s also so good for Pai once he stops with the creepy shit and I have to be like... whelp, if you like him. I watched ep 10 and 11 being like “I shall ignore all of Pai’s questionable behaviour” and it’s definitely enjoyable that way, I liked ep 10 the best. 

The show is known for the NC scenes and I enjoyed both pair’s second NC scenes. PayuRain’s was just wild and I was intrigued, even though I had negative physical reactions a few times. SkyPai’s was soooo romantic and I’m floored by the fact that I enjoyed watching them kiss, what about their kisses was different than others’? 

I like Fort being an adorable cutie, I wanna see him play something younger (I think Pai as a younger seme would’ve been sooo good here). There were some production issues, like the sound was just shit and the editing for the second half was kinda worse than the first half.

OG Teaser/Trailer: I remember when I saw the OG SkyPai teaser come out on r/boyslove lol It was interesting and then I heard nothing about it for several months. The trailer is interesting bc so much of it is exactly like in the actual show, there are some differences as well. Also, Pai did as much office work this trailer as in the whole of LITA.

Currently re-watching Food Wars. And here's my reaction to the first two episodes of S1:

Ep1: So, first off - the main antagonist of episode 1 is a woman who wants to buy the restaurant, so they can tear it down and build something bigger and "more modern" in the same space.

And this (supposedly) functional adult, instead of approaching Soma's dad - aka the actual owner of the restaurant - she has a pissing contest with his 15 y/o son.

And in the end, she vandalizes the place, commits the crime of breaking and entering and destroying the meat supply for at least the next three days. And THEN she eats there for FREE - when the restaurant was supposed to be closed, might I add - and walks away scot-free??

Like, excuse me?? How do I sue in the owner's name??

Ep2: This episode has me wanting to call the child protection services of this universe...

So, Soma's dad leaves his 15 year old son on his own and flys out to America, and he'll stay there for the next 2-3 years.

And the fact that Soma is more worried about the restaurant closing than his dad leaving him on his own for the next couple of years??

That (to me) screams child endangerment/previous neglect people!

Some Avett Brothers song sounds from the little radio that sits on the corner of the counter. Thick drops of rain pearl against the window, racing each other down the glass before meeting up eventually and becoming one with each other. 

(Y/N) refills the last of the mustard bottles, setting it on the counter next to the others. It’s a quiet night at the diner. The kitchen’s been closed for an hour now and usually, that’s when people stop coming in. While the Little Blue Diner is known for their hot dogs and burgers, neither their coffee nor their cold sandwiches are gonna win any prizes any time soon. 

And yet …

Sure enough, as her eyes lift towards the figure slouched down in the corner booth, his gloved hand is already outstretched, signaling his desire for yet another refill.

A mixture between a chuckle and a scoff tumbles from her lips at the thought of him wanting more of the slightly burned liquid. If there’s one thing (Y/N) can admit to being bad at, it’s brewing coffee. Where there should be a rich brown color, hers usually ends up with an inky black hue and instead of leaving a hint of warm caramelization on your tongue hers just tastes bitter. It doesn’t seem to face the man in the corner though. Not even a little bit. To say this worries her is a bit of an understatement. No one in their right mind would take 7 refills of her witch's brew.

“ You okay, my dude ? “ (Y/N) inquires as she steps up to his table, coffee pot in hand. 

The man doesn’t look up at her. He doesn’t have to. She’s acutely aware of the character currently occupying the corner booth. It’s a face she knows like the back of her hand. One that’s been staring at her from books and documentaries, one she’s been greeted by every time her dad took her with him to the Smithsonian. Though they do not dare look up at her, she’s so awfully familiar with the bright blue shade of his eyes, he might as well be a long-time friend. 

“ I’m fine. “ 

Of all the lies in the world, “I’m fine” must be the most unbelievable one and yet the one told most often. No one who’s actually fine ever says those words. Those two words are reserved for the lonely and broken only. It’s like getting “I’m not fine at all” tattooed across your goddamn forehead. 

“ Sure you are, that’s why you’re having the 7th refill of my god awful coffee. “ 

“ ‘s not that bad. “ 

“ Sure, if you’re into licking charcoal it’s probably not that bad. “

It’s just a split of a second, a fraction of a moment, but (Y/N) is sure she can see the corner of his lips lifting slightly. It falls back into the stoic scowl immediately but it was there. For a teeny tiny moment, there was the shadow of a smirk on his face and that’s a success in her book. 

“ Either way, here’s how we’re gonna do this. I’ll give you one last refill, after that, I’m cutting you off, my friend. I know I’m a waitress and it’s my job to bring you what you want but I do not fancy watching you suffer a caffeine-induced heart attack in this very diner. I am not equipped to handle a situation like that and quite honestly they don’t pay me enough to deal with that either. “ 

His eyes are still trained on the scratched-up white linoleum table but ever so faintly he nods his head in silent agreement. 

As promised, she pours him one last cup of coffee. A brew so dark it could rival the bubbling goo of a tar pit. 

“ Enjoy your last cup of the night, Mr. Barnes. “ 

It’s then, as she’s just about to walk back behind the counter, as those words leave her lips, that he looks up for the first time since he’s walked in. 

His eyes are the exact shade of blue she’s so familiar with but there’s something else about them. An infinite sadness haunts every spec of blue. Where she thought there would be a sparkle of adventure, a hint of mischief, there is just loneliness. This is not the man she’s read about in museums, heard about in stories. This man right here is completely and utterly lost.

“ I - I uh — “ 

He clears his throat, once, twice, then nervously brushes his hand across his face. 

“ I can go if you don’t want me here. “ 

“ Huh? “ 

“ I asked if you want me to leave. “ 

As those words escape him, his eyes seem to grow even more devastated. They glimmer with memories of a time long gone and a future uncertain. Shine with hurt and fear. 

“ Why would I ask you to leave? “ 

Bucky shrugs his shoulders in a way to make it look nonchalantly. It’s hard to seem casual though when you seem to carry the weight of the entire world on your shoulders. 

“ People who recognize me usually aren’t so keen on having me around. I don’t know if you’ve heard but I’m uh — I’m not people’s favorite person. “ 

It’s a sad thought, (Y/N) realizes, to be constantly bound to a past that is yours but never really belongs to you. To be forever linked with the horrible actions of a version of yourself you had no control over. And no matter how hard you try to set it all right and to repent for your wrongdoings, to some people it will never be enough.

“ No, you don’t have to leave, “ (Y/N) reassures before sliding into the booth opposite him. “ I don’t know you because of — because of what happened. I know you first and foremost as Sergeant Barnes, former officer of the 107th Infantry Regiment, part of the Howling Commandos, and best friend and brother to Steve Rogers. Everything else that’s — none of my business really. “ 

Bucky lifts his eyes off of the table again and while the sadness is still there, something else lingers for a moment. Curiosity, intrigue maybe, or just relief. 

“ Wow. Didn’t think I’d run into someone reciting my life to me. Huh. “ 

“ My dad used to be a curator at the Smithsonian. He was in charge of the Captain America exhibition. I’ve seen your face a million times, visiting him at work. I gotta say though, you look way more approachable and friendly on the picture they put up. “ 

This time, it’s more than a fleeting moment, this time she’s sure about it, this time he lets out an actual chuckle. 

“ I was a lot younger then, okay? Cut an old man some slack. “ 

“ Oh, you pulling the old man card now? “ 

“ Is it working? “ he asks, eyebrows raised in question. 

“ Not really. “ 

“ Ah, what a shame.” 

Silence settles upon them again like a thick duvet filled with feathers, it’s not uncomfortable but it’s smothering anyway.

“ Do you wanna talk about it? Your sour mood, I mean.” 

Bucky shrugs again “I have a therapist.” 

“ Does she make you draw your feelings? “ 

He smiles again at that question. His smile, (Y/N) thinks, ain’t the worst thing she’s ever seen. She wouldn’t mind seeing it more often.

“ No. Why? “ 

“ Mine did. She stopped pretty quickly though, I guess my drawings were too detailed and gory for her.” 

“ Huh. “ 

“ Mmmh.” 

After another sip of coffee, one he takes without grimacing, without showing any sign of disgust for the burnt brew, Bucky speaks up again.

“ Mine thinks I’m lying to her. “ 

“ Are you ?” 

“ Well yeah, but she doesn’t need to know that.” 

“ Maybe telling her the truth would help you. “ (Y/N) suggests only to be met with a determined head shake No from Bucky. 

The notification sound of a phone pulls them from their conversation and at the sight of the name on the display, Bucky lets an “oh shit” slip from his lips.

“ Don’t you sound excited about getting texts from your friends, “ (Y/N) jokes

“ I had a date last night. That’s her. “ 

“ Since she’s texting you I assume it went well. “ 

Bucky grimaces at her words, slightly shaking his head in disagreement.

“ No? “ 

“ I mean, I had fun and it went well — at first. She’s really sweet. But then we started talking and I may have run. “ 

“ Ran where? “ 

“ Away. “ 

“ Away as in you left. “ 

“ Mm-mmh” 

“ Just like that? “ 

“ Yup. “ 

“ Why? “ 

He throws up his arms in frustration and shakes his head again as if to gather all his thoughts and rattle them neatly back into place. 

“ I don’t know, okay? I haven’t been on a date since the 1940s. Everything I know about women and dating and romance seems antiquated. I’m overwhelmed and confused and I just don’t wanna do anything wrong.” 

“ Dude, you ran from your date without any explanation. How much worse could you have handled it? “ 

“ Yeah well, hindsight is 20/20. “ 

While his words try to sound light and nonchalant, his shoulders tense and his whole demeanor seems to shift back into the gloomy state he’s been in since he entered the diner. Like a big cloud that’s following him around, casting shadows at all times and hardly allowing any light to shine through.

“ Look, I don’t think any of us know what the heck we’re doing half the time. Like, trust me I know what I’m talking about. Online dating means I have to choose between men who think posing with a dead fish will make me want to sleep with them, men who think knowing obscure Star Wars facts can replace having an actual personality, and men who send me pictures of their … privates without me ever giving any indication of wanting to see those. So yeah — dating can really s - be frustrating. “ 

Bucky regards her for a second, the right corner of his lips pulled into a lazy lopsided smirk.

“ Did you just censor yourself because you don’t wanna swear around me ?” 

“ Maybe, but that’s beside the point. The point is, we’re all just human and in the end, we’re all just looking for someone to like us the way we are, all quirks and issues and baggage included. I know women might seem intimidating but really all we want is to be loved and appreciated. And not the over-the-top build-you-a-house, the notebook kind of love. More like the Harry and Sally kind.“ 

(Y/N) can almost see the gears working inside Bucky’s brain, the desperate attempt to make any sense of all the words and phrases she’s just thrown at him. A jumbled mess of pop culture references swirls through his head like a swarm of bees, chaotic and messy. 

“ I have no idea what you just said. “ 

“ When Harry met Sally? “

Bucky just shrugs and shakes his head.

“ You’ve never seen it? “ 

“ I’ve been a bit preoccupied with being blipped away into oblivion for the last 5 years. So I haven’t really had the time to get into movies yet. “ 

This time it’s the gears in her own head that start turning. 

“ What are you doing Friday night ? “ she asks, biting her lip in nervous anticipation.

“ I — I don’t know. “ 

That’s a bit of a lie, really. He does know. It’s the same thing he does pretty much every other day. He gets some takeout, brings it home, sits down in front of the tv, tries to get lost in whatever show they put on, fails at doing so, reads a few pages of a book, lays down to sleep, and then wakes up a little while later to yet another nightmare, tangled up in sweaty sheets, heart racing. 

(Y/N) doesn’t need to know any of that though. He doesn’t tell his therapist so why would he tell a random stranger.

“ Well, don’t make any plans. We’re gonna kill 2 birds with 1 stone. “ 

“ We are? “ 

“ Yeah. Trust me on this one. “ 

“ I don’t even know you. “ 

“ Sure you do. “ (Y/N) says and taps the tag pinned to her baby blue polo shirt with the diner’s logo on the back.  “ I’m the one who serves you just enough coffee to keep you happy but not have you die a painful and honestly mildly embarrassing death. “ 

Every part of him screams at him to say no. To stay away from her the way he does from most other people, even Sam. To get up and get out and not cause any more damage than he already has in other people’s life. But then he remembers his therapist's words, he remembers Leah’s face full of confusion and disappointment, he remembers the empty feeling in his chest. That feeling of pure and utter loneliness. 

“ Alright, Friday works for me, (Y/N). “ 

“ Perfect, Bucky. “ 

“ Bring a jacket. “ 

The address and “Bring a jacket” that’s all she’s texted him. No explanation, no plan, nothing. 

Bucks leans against the streetlamp, hands stuffed deep into the pockets of his leather jacket. Anxiety is washing through his system like tidal waves on a stormy ocean. This whole being spontaneous thing was much easier back in the 40s. When his shoulders weren’t so heavy with guilt. When he didn’t have to constantly face the consequences of his actions. Consequences of a past he can never quite outrun no matter how far he goes and how hard he tries. 

Maybe this is good, he has to remind himself. Getting out of his comfort zone, if that even exists for him. Opening himself up to new opportunities. Maybe even make a friend. (Y/N) seem nice enough, if a bit peculiar. 

His shrink would be proud of him. Getting out there, talking to people, being approachable. This must for sure earn him some kind of gold star equivalent in her notebook. 

“ Hey there, Mr. Grumpyface. “ 

(Y/N)'s voice cuts through the chilly New York night like headlights through thick fog. She strolls towards him, lips pulled into a big bright smile. Leading up to tonight he’s spent quite a lot of time wondering if this is some kind of project for her, if maybe she sees him as a sort of charity case. Something to earn her karma points. It wouldn’t be the first time. But the genuine joy radiating from her face lets those worries melt away instantly. 

Maybe, Bucky thinks, she really just thinks he’ll make a good friend. And maybe he can. 

“ Hi, (Y/N). “

“ You brought a jacket” she points out, pinching the black leather between her fingers. Her nails are painted in various shades of red, each finger a different hue. 

“ I did. You told me to. “

“ And you listened! “ 

“ Why wouldn’t I ? “ Bucky inquires, a look of confusion settling on his face.

“ You wouldn’t believe how many men think wearing a jacket when it’s cold out somehow clashes with their need to demonstrate their masculinity. “ 

“ Wow. “ he exclaims.

“ Yeah. So anyway, you ready to go up? “ 

She nods her head towards the house across the street. It’s a slim multiple-story brick building with rusty fire escapes. It looks like a residential lot, not much else that could give away (Y/N)’s plan for the rest of the night.

“ Up? “ 

“ Mm-mh. “ (Y/N) nods and motions towards the top of the building. “ to the roof. “ 

“ The roof? You’re not planning to push me off or anything, right? I don’t usually spend time with strangers on rooftops. “ he tells her, a smirk lifting the sides of his lips.

She grants him a smile in return. One of those that you try so hard to suppress but despite your best efforts they find their way onto your face anyway. Because some smiles demand to be smiled. And her smile is pretty cute, he thinks, it deserves to be seen. 

“ Foiled again, damn Bucky. I’m a waitress with a useless degree in literature and creative writing but assassinating you was exactly what I had planned for tonight. Couldn’t let me have that one, huh? “ 

“ Sorry to spoil all the fun. “ 

She softly bumps her shoulder against his right side as she passes him and crosses the street. Her red skirt flutters around her knees like a ribbon of fire, bright and warm and —

“ You coming, grumpy ?” 

“ Yeah uh — yeah sure. “ 

The walk upstairs is filled with chatter from her and nodding from Bucky. It’s been like this most of the time since — well since he’s really back. Other people usually do the talking and Bucky listens. It works most of the time. Works with Yori. Sometimes though, sometimes it doesn’t. He can see people getting frustrated with him. Hell his own therapist does and she knows the baggage he has to carry around. 

This is different though, (Y/N) doesn’t seem to mind much. She’s a waterfall of words and topics and doesn’t seem to get bored or annoyed with him. It’s nice. 

A heavy iron door swings open as they reach the top of the building and as soon as they step out onto the rooftop balcony they get engulfed in an ocean of lights. They’re strung from one end of the roof to the other and back again. Next to the door, a little makeshift bar is set up, and a guy in a Star Wars shirt hands out beers to people. 

Multicolored deck chairs and beanbags are haphazardly placed across the entire roof, all pointing towards the corner furthest away from the door where a big white sheet hangs spanned between two poles. 

“ Sooo you gonna tell me what we’re doing here? “ Bucky asks again as (Y/N) steers him towards a cluster of chairs in the back. 

“ Some peeps I went to university with, set up movie screenings here every once in a while. I could pull some strings and got to choose the movie. “ 

“ We’re gonna watch a movie? “ 

“ Not just any movie, “ she exclaims and drops down onto one of the plastic deck chairs that looks like it used to be bright pink once but is now but a bleached blush colour from being exposed to the sun too much. “ We’re watching when Harry met Sally. “ 

Bucky slumps down on the chair next to her, a blue one with white daisy patterns. 

“ Me not knowing this movie really does bother you, huh? “ 

“ It’s a classic, might as well start with this one. And anyway, maybe this can help you get back into the dating game. Ya know, help you understand modern romance. “

“ You think so? “ 

She shrugs and starts fumbling around in her bag, “ I dunno. It might. And if it doesn’t at least you’ll spend your time watching a good movie and get to experience the blessing of my company. Ah-ha! There you go “ 

Her hand reaches out holding a bag of M&Ms.

“ I brought snacks. “ 

More and more people start occupying the chairs and bean bags and a few minutes later a guy steps up in front of the sheet. He’s wearing a shirt with a black and white bird pattern, huge glasses with a brown frame, and jeans that don’t cover his ankles. He’s tall and lanky and his hair is so messy, Bucky wonders if it’s intentional or if he just hasn’t brushed it in a while. 

“ Hi guys, I’m Andrew. For those of you who don’t know me, I live in apartment 2B and I just wanna say thank you for showing up and welcome you to our movie night under the stars. A few days ago we received a special request from one of our good friends and because she let me stay on her couch for several months back during our college days and I still owe her for that I couldn’t reject her request. So thanks to Miss (Y/N) over there in the pink chair you now get to spend the next 90 minutes watching Meg Ryan fall in love with Mike Wazowski. Enjoy. “ 

As he steps away from the sheet, the lights are turned off and the MGM logo pops up on the screen. 

“ Trust me, Bucky. This one’s so good.” (Y/N) assures before throwing some M&Ms into her mouth, now entirely focused on the movie.

It takes a while for Bucky to relax. Being around so many people and not having any fear of what’s lurking around the corner is still very new. Letting go is never as easy as it sounds. Eventually though, his nerves settle down a little and as the movie progresses, he finds himself relaxing more and more. Something he hasn’t done in a long time. Not since Wakanda.

Exactly 46 minutes into the movie, (Y/N) lets her eyes wander to her left where Bucky, until now, sat slumped into his seat. Still perpetually grumpy but more chilled out and relaxed than she’s seen him before. Until now. A moaning Meg Ryan visible making him uncomfortable.

“ You okay, grumpy? “ 

He doesn’t grant her a real answer, just scoffs and rolls his eyes. There’s a smile though, she’s sure. Somewhere hidden there is another smile. 

“ So, what did we learn today? “ 

Bucky looks at (Y/N) who has her arms wrapped tightly around her middle shielding herself from the chilly night air. The movie night has ended a while ago and the two of them are slowly strolling along the New York City streets on the way back to (Y/N)’s apartment. 

“ To take your own advice and dress warmer for a movie night? “ 

(Y/N) chuckles. “ No, grumpy. I meant the movie. “ 

He shrugs at her question. Quite honestly he hasn’t learned anything new. Nothing about the movie seemed in any way revolutionary to him nor does he see any benefit for himself and his dating life going forward. But the way she looks at him right now, expecting something grand not from him really but some beautiful consequences to her ideas, that makes him reconsider. Sure he could tell her that it was just a silly little movie about people falling in love but that would no doubt hurt her, even a tiny little bit. And if there’s anything Bucky has enough of, it’s hurting others. 

“ I guess that men and women really can not be friends. “ 

“ Noooo! No. Is that really what you took from this movie? “ 

“ That’s literally what happened. “ 

“ Okay first of all it works, look at us! We’re friends! Second of all, that’s not what the movie is really about. It’s about love and vulnerability. It’s about overcoming all the tiny things that can work against you and your relationship. Like distance and timing and egotism. It’s about hiding who you are because really opening up to someone, being your authentic true self with all your faults and imperfections, that makes you vulnerable. And being vulnerable is fucking scary. But love is worth it anyway. That’s what the movie is about. “

As Bucky noticed before, some smiles demand to be smiled. They need to be smiled because they’re important and they mean something. The one gracing his face now, that’s one of those. One of those you remember because you feel them all the way in your heart.

“ You think we’re friends? “ 

“ Oh, are we — are we not? “ 

“ No. I — no, we are! I’d like to be friends. “ 

(Y/N) abruptly stops in her tracks, turns towards him, and holds out her hand. “ To friendship.” 

“ We’re shaking hands on it? What is this, a business deal? “ 

“ You know what, yeah now that you mention it that’s pretty lame. “ (Y/N) agrees, balling her hand into a fist “ how about a fist bump, bro? “ 

Bucky reluctantly knocks his right hand against hers before continuing his walk down the street. “You call me bro again I’m canceling the friendship. “ 

“ Alright. Noted. “ 

“ So have you talked to the girl again? “ 

“ Hmm? “ 

“ The one you went on a date with? “ 

“ Oh, Leah. Uh — no.” 

“ Why not? “ 

Bucky throws her a look. One that says “are you kidding me?”. One that says “ you know why.” 

“ Cause I ran out. That’s embarrassing. She’s gonna think I’m insane. She’s never gonna wanna see me again. “ 

“ I sincerely doubt that. You just gotta say sorry. I know in Love Story — that’s a novel and also a movie from the 70s — they say that ‘Love means never having to say you’re sorry but that’s a load of bull. Just say sorry and ask her for a do-over. “ 

“ And then what? We play a rematch of battleships and talk about my trauma? “ 

“ Well, what did you do on dates in the 40s? “ 

That time, his youth, that seems like a different life altogether now. So much happened between then and now and the man he is now, has no relation to the boy he was then. Sometimes looking back hurts, makes it painfully obvious what he’s lost. But sometimes, like tonight, he can feel a hint of fondness coursing through him at the thought of times long gone.

“ Dancing, mostly.” 

“ Like, ballroom dancing? “ 

“ Swing. “ 

“ You swing dance? “ 

“ I did. “ 

(Y/N) regards him through squinted eyes “ really? “ 

“ You don’t believe me? “

“ I don’t know. You don’t strike me as a dancer. “ 

Not a second later, Bucky’s gloved hand grabs onto her’s and twirls her towards him then away from him and back in. 

“ You twirled me! “ 

“ Mm-mh.”

“ I’ve never been twirled. That’s so fun. “ 

It’s like autopilot taking over as Bucky holds onto her, twirling her again then pulling her in and swaying them in a circle. It’s not swing dancing, not even close but there’s no music either, and anyway, his dancing days are over. But sometimes you gotta make a point and if that means slow dancing in the middle of an empty street then that’s that. 

The night wraps them in a blanket of comfort and intimacy as the stars and the New York skyline try to outshine each other. It’s a moment so peaceful, Bucky can’t remember the last time his heart felt so light, his mind felt so at ease, his entire being got to let go and just be alive and in the moment.

And then the shine of headlights rips them from their moment and makes them jump back onto the sidewalk. 

“ Get off the road you fucking morons! “ 

“ Gotta love the big city folk. “ 

“ Yup. “ 

“ Hey, Bucky.” 

“ What? “ 

“ You really can dance.” 

“ Told you. “ 

“ Can I tell you a secret? “ 

“ Sure. “ 

“ I can’t dance for shit. “ 

“ That so? “

“ Yup. Which means you gotta teach me. “ 

“ Absolutely not.” 

“ Oh, 100%! “ 

“ We’ll see about that.” 

There are nights you try to forget. Nights that you wish to never ever remember. Ones that break you. That beat you down and leave you bruised and battered.

Then there are nights like this one that you want to hold onto for just a little bit longer. Those that fill you with joy and an immeasurable thirst for life. The ones that make you feel grateful to be alive right here and now. 

The inevitable end of the night creeps closer as they arrive at (Y/N)’s front door. Neither of them really want to say goodnight but both know there’s no use in delaying it.

“ I hope you didn’t hate the movie too much, “ (Y/N) speaks up, leaning against the front door of her apartment complex.

“ No. It was fun! Although I still don’t know who Mike Wazulsky is. “ 

“ Mike Wazowski, he’s — you know what? That’s a conversation for another time. “ 

“ Alright, if you say so. “ 

“ Thanks for walking me home. “ 

“ Oh, yeah no need to thank me. It’s the right thing to do. “ 

For a moment they just stand and smile, trying to cherish the last few moments of this night. 

“ We should do this more often. “ Bucky suggests, surprising even himself.

“ For sure. I still have so many movies to show you. “ 

“ Can’t wait. “ 

A slight sense of awkwardness falls over them as neither of them knows what to do. Go for a hug? Shakes hands? Wave goodbye? 

“ I uh — I should go. “ 

“ Yeah, of course. Have a good night, Bucky.” 

“ You too, (Y/N).” 

“ Oh and Bucky? “ 

“ Yes? “ 

“ Give Leah a call. “ 

Bucky nods his head before turning around and walking back into the night.

As he takes the way back to his own home, there are only two things on Bucky’s mind: the vulnerability of falling in love and the question of who the hell Mike Wazowski was.
