Dear creator,

Thank you for taking your time to check my requests. I know my requests can sound a bit tricky, but please don’t be discouraged. I wish you will have good time writing first and foremost!

HONKAI STAR RAIL

Kafka/Stelle

I was down bad for Kafka ever since I first saw her and it’s no surprise that this ship quickly found a way into my heart.

I love Kafka’s manipulative demeanor, but also how she clearly cares about Stelle in her own twisted way. Or is that care also a part of an act? Who can tell? Certainly not Stelle, who is stuck trying to figure out Kafka

I honestly want to see more interactions from those two. Maybe Stelle, bored to death from waiting on Xianzhou’s bureaucracy to let her kick some ass, stumbles on Kafka and decides to try to get some answers from her rather than contacting Express. Will they go on a date, or maybe go on a mission together, or maybe there will briefly make out? Or an extended take on Kafka’s personal mission. So many options!

Or maybe for some reason Stelle gets briefly kidnapped by Kafka, and just because Stelle understands what Stockholm Syndrom is, doesn’t mean it’s easy to resist falling for her captor

What if Kafka broke into Simulated Universe with Silver Wolf’s help and added herself into the code. I’d love a story where Stelle keeps jumping into SU in order to meet virtual Kafka, hoping to gain some understanding of her and maybe getting some nice virtual gifts each time it happens

I also love the dichotomy they have going when it comes to their approch to destiny. Kafka claims to believe in destiny, yet seems to desperately hope for Stelle to prove her wrong in a very contradictory way. Meanwhile the protagonist despite being setup as a pawn in Estio’s plan is clearly carving her own destiny as a Trailblazer and there’s just something really poetic about it. I feel like it’s that aspect of Stelle that makes Kafka smitten with her

Ruan Mei/Stelle

I didn't know I would grow to love Ruan Mei as much as I did, but she ended up really exceeding my expectations.

I love how the main story kinda demysticizes Ruan Mei from the distant genius she heard about to introvert who is hesitant to form honest relationships with others. The roundabout way she goes around to resolving the crisis she caused made me laugh.

I'll gladly take more shenanigans with the anti-truth serum. What if Ruan Mei starts using it to avoid having Stelle confess, since she has no idea how to handle other's affection towards her. Or maybe Ruan Mei assumes the memory lose side effect kicked in when it clearly didn't and Stelle is now keeping up the illusion of losing memories (since she has first-hand experience and stuff), because she's afraid that Ruan Mei will leave if she discovers Stelle has her memories. Or alternatively, the memory lose side effect did kick in and Stelle is now desperately trying to grasp all the affection slipping away from her. Or what if something went wrong during preparations and Ruan Mei accidentally wiped out her memory (or maybe it wasn't an accident?), forcing Stelle to look after her

I'm also up for all the critter shenanigans. Stelle bonding with critters and trying to make Ruan Mei care more for them since it raises the chances of her returning to Hearta Station. Or they start an actual cult. If this event showed something it's that you could make a religion out of Ruan Mei.

It'd also be interesting to see a research taking Ruan Mei down a strange or dark path and her dragging Stelle down with her. We'd already seen how narrow her view becomes when she hyperfocuses on her research. What if she ends up hurting Stelle in the process. Feel free to go dark with this prompt.

AUs and ships

I’d rather avoid setting AUs for this canon, since I feel like it would be hard to replicate the elements that make those ships so fun. I’d however love any canon divergences. I’d love an AU where Kafka is a double agent and has separate identity as Stellaron Hunter and someone on the Express. Or maybe since Kafka has powers affecting mind, there��s some sort of mental link between her and Stelle. What if Stelle starts to regain her memories. For Ruan Mei I think an AU where she starts to tamper more with Simulated Universe would be fun. Maybe something happens to Hearta and Ruan Mei starts to lead the development or it's an AU where it was always her project. Or maybe Ruan Mei's secret project in Herta's lab was something different.

I’d rather characters I requested aren’t shipped with anyone else. I wouldn't want an outright love triangle, but I'm okay with mentions of Stelle potentially having feelings for both women I requested her with. I’m fine with background Bronya/Seel. Feel free to inquire about other background pairings

AKANE-BANASHI

Akane Ousaki/Hikaru Kouragi

Finally, classic shounen rivals - lesbian version. I’m so glas we are finally here.

Rivalry slowly turning into romance! Becoming closer with every rakugo event that they meet at. Going together (on totally not dates) to rakugo events to watch other performers or maybe visiting places connected to the stories they’re working for inspiration. Would they try to help each other if either of them ran into trouble?

How would a confession look like? Would it be something open, or would one of them slip it between the lines. Would there be pushback about them dating given how traditional rakugo it? I won’t be surprised if there had already been some gay relationships the rakugo community that were an open secret, but what if Akane and Hikaru decide to come in the open about their relationship

AUs and ships

I think a setting change could be pretty fun as long as the element of rivalry stays intact. Different time periods, fantasy AUs, or such could be really interesting for them. Maybe they’re singers now, or bards. I would also be very up for a fastforward to when they’re adults and their rakugo career is in full bloom. How had relationship between them changed? Or has it stayed pretty much the same?

Please don’t ship Akane and Hikaru with anybody else.

MACHIKADO MAZOKU

I watched both anime seasons, but haven’t read the manga yet. Please don’t spoil developments that weren’t yet in anime.

Chiyoda Momo/Yoshida “Shamiko” Yuuko

Do I even need to explain? Those two are just perfect together - a depressed magical girl finding love and acceptance with very clumsy demon who makes the dark side look way more tempting than it ever should have been.

I’m definitely here for both Shamiko trying to pull Momo out of depression through her “evil” schemes and for some more serious plot. Whether it be cute moments of bonding or Shamiko proving her worth when her friends or family are in danger, I’m here for it.

I would be up to more outings of those two. Maybe they go to aquarium or movies? Or maybe Momo requires more mental support and has Shamiko dive into her dreams (this time consensually) to help her deal with some sort of bad memory or recurring nightmare. What if some rouge demon or magical girl came into town and started causing trouble? How would our duo resolve it? Are there more secrets left behind by Momo’s sister than need to be solved?

Chiyoda Momo/Yoshida “Shamiko” Yuuko/Lico

I really loved the addition of Lico to the cast. She’s such an chaos element, because at one moment she’s extremly useful and the second she’ll be trying to spike your food with suspicious herbs. Just 100% trickster fox and I love her for that.

I found her relationship with both Shamiko and Momo extremely compelling. She’s a bit of a cunning senpai for Shamiko, obviously happy to teach her, but definitely not above a harmless prank here and there. On the other hand, there’s Momo, who visibly reminds Lico of her bad experiencess in the past, but at the same time she’s very willing to help Momo, but not without being very snarky about it and pranking her like there’s no tomorrow. I feel like that complex relationship between the characters is so good.

I would be curious to explore Lico’s point of view when it comes to Momo’s descent to the dark side. Is that the reason why she warmed up to Momo despite her bad experiences? Does she have some specific hangups that she needs to work through before she can actually enter the relationship? Does Lico want to influence Shamiko’s development as a demon in some way, or is she satisfied helping her along on the path Shamiko choose herself? Does she try to teach Shamiko some of her magic? What if Lico engaged in some pranking that got out of hand and now is desperately trying to hide the truth from Shamiko and Momo by creating a fake villain?

AUs and ships

I don’t want any setting changes, but would very much enjoy other AU shenanigans. What if Sakura was still around and trying to play a matchmaker? What if something goes wrong when Shamiko dives into Momo’s dream and they end up bodyswapping? What if Momo also started working in the cafe? Time loop could be very fun for this fandom.

There are no other relationships I’d be interested in that come to my mind, but, as always, feel free to ask me through the mods about secondary pairings you may want to add to the story

REIGN OF SEVEN SPELLBALDES

I’m up to date with anime and read the first 3 volumes of manga.

Oliver Horn/Pete Reston

I just love how tropey “my roommate has magically changed gender and now I’m helping him keep it a secret” is. The moment I saw it I was sold. Especially, given that Oliver has plenty secrets of his own.

Also, the setting being just edgy Hogwart with swords is so good. I love how dangerous Kimberly is, and how well it captures the charm of magic with the madness of people who end up pursuing it too farm and the system that encourages them to do just that.

Oliver is teaching Pete swordfighting which is such a good opportunity for extra bodily contact with helping him adjust his stance and such. I’d love to see Pete getting distracted, while Oliver is just doing his best to be hundred percent professional teacher and try to ignore his feelings. Extra points for accidental sword-related double entendres.

I’d also love an exploraion on how much changes about their cohabitation. Pete mentions wanting to set a curtain, but is it the only change that happens? If there are other changes, what prompts them? Are some changes only applicable to when he’s a woman and get removed if he turns back to his original gender (since it’s mentioned that reversi can change between genders)? Are there situations where Oliver has to help Pete protect his secret? How does he go about it?

AUs and ships

I’d prefer no setting changes, I just really, really love the idea of Kimberly as this edgy take on Hogwart. Though as always I’d be open to canon divergences. Maybe Pete catches a hint of Oliver’s secret and tries to carefully figure out what’s going on. How would he react if he learned of his revenge? Would he try to stop Oliver?

I’m fine with mentions of Oliver’s fascination with Nanao (and Pete potentially feeling jealous of Oliver giving her attention), but I don’t want an outright love triangle

CROSSOVER FANDOMS

Mordred (Fate Series)/Stelle (Honkai: Star Rail)

I feel like those two would be just perfect for each other, both being artificial humans caught in schemes of other people and just trying to find their place in life as they go.

I’m fine both with the idea of Mordred becoming incarnated and joining the Express crew or Stelle summoning Mordred during Holy Grail War (or contracting her some other way). I’m fine both with using already existing Holy Grail War as a setting or creating a new one for purposes of the story. Also feel free to go as deep or as shallow with Fate lore as you want. I just want to see fun interactions between Stelle and Mordred, so I’m fine with whatever amount of worldbuilding works with you as a writer

I feel like those two would have amazing dynamic, quickly hitting it off and enabling each other. They’d also work really well as a battle duo, dishing out damage left and right. They’d be incredible Master and Servant duo or partners depending on which setting you chose. I would also love to see how they’d deal with the main thing that sets them apart—the fact that Mordred had already lived her life and made her mistakes, while Stelle is still trying to figure stuff out, not remembering her past and still being caught in other people’s schemes.

If you chose to focus on HSR setting I’m fine both with following already existing stories, or some original adventure. Maybe Stelle and Mordred decide to engage in some bounty hunting for some quick cash. Or they go sightseeing and end up wrapped into some kind of trouble.

I have some idea of pretty much all Fate series officially translated into English (I’ve only seen the OVA for Fate/Strange Fake, since I wanted to wait for anime adaptation, so if you want to use characters from it, please elaborate a bit more on who they are), but other than that I should be good for any existing Fate characters you want to use.

TOTAL FANTASY KNOCKOUT

I’m fine with story based on either anime or manga, I’m caught up with both.

Jinguuji Tsukasa/Tachibana Hinata

Childhood friends who are practically inseparable and strongly dependent on each other? That’s already perfect, but now throw into it a crazy goddess who isekais both of them, turns one of them into a girl, throws an unspecified curse, and forces those two to confront the fact that their feelings for each other might go beyond friendship? That’s beyond perfect. That’s galaxy brain and I want more of that mishmash of tropes.

I’m all about everyday interactions and weird rpg shenanigans they get into, so you can never go wrong with leaning into it. But for something else: What if at some point one of them got returned back to their original world? How would the other cope? Would they be able to establish communication between the two worlds? How would they go about reuniting?

I would love to see them taking their relationship a step further. I crave all the awkwardness that’s going to come with those two idiots trying to figure out how to admit their feelings to each other. And the inevitable defeat of any villains who get in the way of them having a moment. Will Jinguuji and Tachibana try to go on a date with a disasterous results? Will Jinguuji desperately try to find a dating manual in another world? And will they be able to enjoy a romantic moment without “CHARMED” status ruining it?

I also love the new development in manga with Love Goddess reappearing and messing things up even more. I’d absolutely love if you delved into those new changes!

Feel free to include any other characters, they are a colorful bunch. Though if you want a suggestion, I’m very partial to Schwartz and Shen

AUs and ships

I don’t want setting changes, though I would enjoy seeing a different spin on how those two dorks get isekaied and under what circumstances they end up inflicting the wrath of Goddess of Love. Or I would love an AU where the goddess doesn’t succeed in her first killing attempt, so she keeps trying to isekai Tachibana and Jinguuji keeps foiling her plans every time (or maybe he fails at some point?). What if the curse placed by the goddess manifests in some other ridiculous ways? What if Shwartz wormed his way into the protagonists’ party and third-wheeled like only he can?

Feel free to include any one-sided crushes from canon.

WORLD TRIGGER

I’m caught up with the manga, feel free to incorporate new developments. I love the wide scoop of this series and that it really feels like a realized world.

Something goes wrong on the Away Mission is a prompt applicable to all the relationships. The relationships don’t have to end happily, especially if the story is set on Aftokrator.

Hyuse/Jin Yuuichi

I love that Jin’s endearment towards Hyuse is equally proportional to Hyuse’s grudge towards him. However, at the same time they are extremely alike in their whole-hearted dedication to their respective homeplanets. Due to that any sort of romantic relationship between them would require them to compromise the values they hold dear.

Jin as Aftokrator’s prisoner of war, because the idea of a scenario opposite to what happned in the canon is really fascinating to me. How would Hyuse treat his captive? Would Jin be able to manipulate Aftokrator’s politics to his advantage through Hyuse?

For something closer to Earth, I would love to see any shenanigans connected to Hyuse having to tolerate Jin’s presence. Does he act petty in small ways? Does Jin use his foresight to sabotage Hyuse, escalating their conflict into a full out prank war? How badly do Jin's attempt at teaching Hyuse chores or human culture go?

Jin Yuuichi/Miwa Shuuji

Their relationship is so fascinating, given how differently they chose to deal with their trauma regarding losing someone important to them to Neighbors. I’d be fine with both a look into their relationship when Miwa was still very against Neighbors or now futher into the story when he has mellowed down a bit about it.

Some sort of mission goes wrong and they end up having to work together. Or maybe something happens deepening the divide between the Border’s factions making it more difficult for Jin and Miwa to reconcile their feelings for each other with what they believe in. Or Jin gets hurt/kidnapped and Miwa has to struggle with both his feelings and how difficult it is to protect people without Jin’s support

Hyuse/Miwa Shuuji

Two idiots coming from the opposite sides of conflict, having to overcome their strong nationalistic tendencies to meet somewhere in the middle and kiss.

I love the idea of Miwa monitoring Hyuse when he sees him in the Border, because he��s an enemy. What if Jin roped Miwa into helping mantain Hyuse’s cover story. What if they bonded over their shared dislike of Jin. I’d also love a scenario where Miwa squad didn’t know that Hyuse is a Neighbor and interacted with him normally (while Hyuse was under assumption that they obviously know and are just helping maintain his cover). What if Miwa was taking part in the away mission alongside Hyuse?

AUs and ships

I don’t want any setting changes, but I would be okay with any roleswaps. What if Jin was an Aftokrator’s Neighbor and Hyuse was an actual Canadian? Or maybe Hyuse was the friendly Neighbor that Mikumo meet at the beginning of the story. It would also be fun if teams were different. Or different characters’ having different side effects. Someone being caught in a timeloop during the Aftokrator’s invansion would be extremely interesting (or other interesting point in canon).

On top of my head the only extra pairing I’d be fine with would be Ema/Chika. Please inquire about other pairings through mods, there are just too many character’s for me to remember all the ships. I’d rather the requested characters didn’t end up in an outright love traingle, but I'm fine with acknowledging them potentially having feelings

FATE/GRAND ORDER

I’m only playing on NA server. Please don’t include spoilers for what happened on JP servers.

Okada Izou | Assassin/Sakamoto Ryouma | Rider

I love that the first we see of their relationship is Okada being absolutely pissed about Ryoma betraying him and leaving to die, and Ryoma being like “that’s fair”, and letting himself get stabbed because he has absolute confidence that Okada doesn’t actually want to kill him. If that’s not great ship material I don’t know what is.

I love how thin the line between Ryoma caring about Okada and manipulating him into doing what he wants is. And that Okada is aware of it, but at same time he’s completely unable to let go despite constantly proclaiming that he won’t get tricked again. And yet he gets tricked. Every. Single. Time.

I would love both some shenanigans in Chaldea, as well as a look into their lives before they became Heroic Spirits. I’m not very versed in history of Japan though, so while I’d love a more history based story please assume you are telling it to someone who needs a quick history lesson at the same time. For Chaldea shenanigans I would enjoy Okada picking up fight with everyone who catches his attention and then inevitably getting his ass kicked, because he’s used to being a big fish in small pond, while Ryoma tries to make sure he doesn’t kill himself in the process. Or helps him get along with other Heroic Spirits. I would love to see Okada being pacified with some food. Maybe discovering liking for a dish he had never tried before.

Inclusions of Oryou is welcome, and you are free to make it a threesome. Just please don’t forget to include some flirty Ryoma and Okada interactions.

Saitou Hajime | Saber/Yamanami Keisuke | Saber

What is with GudaGuda and introducing great m/m ships?! We will never know. But what I do know is that Saito being very protective of Yamanami all through the event really got to my shipper soul. Everyone was giving Yamanami shit about being the traitor and what did Saito do? Make sure that this time Yamanami wouldn’t be alone when traitoring and if it isn’t a basis for a ship, I don’t know what is.

I would love both some shenanigans in Chaldea, as well as a look into their lives before they became Heroic Spirits. I’m not very versed in history of Japan though, so while I’d love a more history based story please assume you are telling it to someone who needs a quick history lesson at the same time. I obviously don’t want any references to how Yamanami is going to join Chaldea in the future, but the fifth GudaGuda event already gives a pretty good idea about how he interacts with others. I’d enjoy seeing a Shinsengumi outing where they try to ease Yamanami into being a part of their group again and Saito quietly supporting it. But I would also love to see Yamanami reciprocating that kindness by seeing through Saito’s facade and being there when he needs it.

Amakusa Shirou Tokisada | Ruler/Semiramis | Assassin

I feel in love with this ship when watching Fate/Apocrypha and I’m living with all the content FGO is giving for them. Truly, Ancient Babylonian Ruler/Priest is a winning formula for Fate ships.

I love how much those two contrast, yet fit each other. And how well they understand both the virtues and vices of the other. I’d love to see valentine events after the first one where Semiramis got introduced. Are they similar, or does the way they celebrate change? Is there a return gift on White Day?

I greatly enjoy that Amakusa is pretty much a kindergarten caretaker who works himself to the bone when he isn’t the biggest Holy Grail craving menance to happen to Chaldea. I would enjoy seeing either side of him, whether it be Semiramis indirectly helping Amakusa regarding the children or foiling his attempts to get the Grails. I would also love any totally-not-dates involving those two.

General prompts for all the requested relationships: I’d love mission gone wrong. Maybe they Rayshift with Master (I’m fine with both male and female Master for this request) but end up stranded during the mission. Or they have to camp somewhere and it results in a lot of bickering. Or the characters unsuccessfully try to stealth.

AUs and ships

I don’t want setting AUs for this canon unless you want to explore alternate history takes, since that’s the type of content I’ll eat with a spoon.

FATE/SAMURAI REMNANT

Zheng Chenggong/Zhou Yu | Archer

A Master and Servant duo that was gone too quickly. I'd love an alternate version of events where they stick around for longer (or even just snapshot of what if Zhou Yu survived for longer).

I'd also ve very okay with some look into their lives during the Waxing Moon Ritual. They had a very interesting relationship of mutual respect and I'm kinda interested in seeing how it would reflect on them becoming even closer

Miyamoto Musashi | Berserker & Zheng Chenggong

Miyamoto Musashi | Berserker/Zheng Chenggong

Since the game was hinting very strongly that Musashi's Master might get eliminated early (or resign from Holy Grail War to protect her life) I started speculating that maybe she and Chenggong would end up working together as a Master and Servant duo since they had a lot of interactions together. It didn't happen, but I kinda want to see that version of events now, where after losing Archer, Chenggong ends up contracting Musashi who became Masterless. Fell very free to combine this prompt with my Archer/Chenggong request, and have Chenggong internally suffer because he formed a contract with different Servant.

Alternatively I'm fine with more canon typical shenanigans. Plans going astray because Musashi keeps rushing forward. Or a patrol that ends up with her getting distracted by shops or events. Those two had such fun interactions with Chenggong trying to be tactical, but always getting caught in Musashi's chaotic tempo.

Or maybe Musashi visits Chenggong to cheer him up after he lost Archer, because she would never pass an opportunity for drinking. And if she cheers him up while she's getting plastered then all the better.

AUs and ships

Feel free to go wild with swapping Servants, putting in different ones, or changing the course of the Waxing Moon Ritual. I'd rather the majority of the main Servants were still Japanese, since I liked the theme, but you don't have to stick to it for stray Servants. I also feel like my timeloop like would be very relevant here with Chenggong potentially trying to find a way to have Archer survive the loop or maybe he just gives up and tries to make the most of that final neverending day they have together

I lowkey ship Iori/Saber (but don't let that stop you from potentially yeeting Saber out for some fun alternatives if you do go for Servantswaps). Also for Saber I'd prefer they/them pronouns in general, but if a character canonically addresses Saber with a specific pronoun then please stick to it

THE WEAKEST TAMER BEGAN A JOURNEY TO PICK UP TRASH

Ivy & Oguto

I really loved the relationship between those two and kinda hoped that Ivy would stay longer in Latome. Which is why I'm hoping to read some more about Ivy and Oguto

I'm always up for Oguto protecting Ivy. Maybe someone from Latomi comes and tries to take Ivy away and Oguto steps in to stop them. Or there's some other trouble that Ivy gets dragged into

I'd also love if someone noticed Adandara again, which resulted in more attempts to hunt her, while Ivy was desperately, but subtly trying to discourage Oguto from searching. On that note I love both Adandara and Sora, and would be very happy to see them included.

If you go for a story where Ivy stays for a longer time at Latome I'd be excited to see her finally trusting Oguto with her secrets.

AUs and ships

I'd prefer no setting changes. Though I would be very okay with an AU where Ivy stays for a few years in Latome with Oguto. I don't necessarily want her to give up her dream of travelling, but I think that waiting until she's at least a bit older would be a good compromise. I would also be very okay with Oguto adopting Ivy if she does decide to stay for a longer time in the village. I assume it would initially happen for legal reasons (like making sure she can't be forced to return to Latomi), but Oguto would quickly decide to become an actual parent to her

As a resolution this year I decided to be completely unapologetic about what I draw. So what if I've accumulated 50+ fandoms in the time I've been alive and some of them sledgehammer me out of nowhere with nostalgia every other day? So what if some of those fandoms are ancient? So what if I like rare pairs, poly ships, bi ships?

In the past year I saw so much fanart of a certain old anime on my dashboard that it felt like some kind of Renaissance comeback. Maybe it's me who was out of the loop and it never got less popular, but I want to see that kind of resurgence for more fandoms in general.

I saw a crack ship in another fandom become popular because one artist thought hmm there's something here and just never stopped drawing them. I'm pretty sure it got its own tag on AO3 now.

I love horror and I have so many horror ideas but I've always felt hesitant sharing those, same with mature/kink stuff. (Where do you even post that nowadays?)

Also, a very important note to self, it's ok to just create for yourself without the intention of posting. It frees up so much room for creativity when you don't care about imaginary opinions or whether something is 'good enough' to post.

Pandora Hearts Month 2022 (REDO) Prompts!

Hello all!

I have recently learned that the @phmonth2022 blog is experiencing some technical difficulties—and has for longer, and a greater extent, than I realized. I don't get notifications properly, I don't get notified at all if people tag the blog, my posts don't show up in site's tags, and it seems you have to click on the blog itself to see any of its posts.

It seems as though a number of people who wanted to participate in Phmonth22 in May/June...never saw the posts about it.

This means that we will now be doing a redo of Pandora Hearts Month 2022!

It will have the same exact prompts as before, allowing people who didn't see it before—and anyone who otherwise didn’t get the chance before—to participate now! It will occur at the same time as The Case Study of Vanitas Month 2022! (Check here for those prompts!)

Because of the phmonth2022 blog's issues, I am hosting it here on my ph (and vnc) sideblog @this-idiots-left-eye. I will reblog my posts on the @phmonth2022 blog, as well as my main blog @i-prefer-the-term-antihero but I will make the initial posts here.

Streamer!Scaramouche [2]

thanks for all the support in the first part! i wrote a second part where scaramouche plays genshin + the reader comes in (i tried to make it as gender neutral as possible, so let me know if there’s something off!). you’re a close friend of scaramouche and also a voice actor!

i had been planning this since i wrote the first part, but because i was busy and uninspired i couldn’t finish it. but here it is and it’s actually pretty long (over 5k words...)! i hope you guys will like this!! obviously he’s a little nicer than he is in game but,,, for the sake of the plot + it being a modern au, it had to be done sjnfdskjf

He was selected to play the beta for genshin because of his popularity and tbh he really wanted to play it

The game hadn’t really caught his eye all that much when he first heard about it but he saw how everyone online went crazy over it (plus other streamers who also were selected to play it in early access kept talking about it) and he became more curious to know what it would be like and if it’d live to everyone’s expectations

However he couldn’t really play it until it was officially released because he had a very busy schedule, and when he saw other streams of people playing it he was,,, lowkey jealous because it did look fun

When it was finally released and the game finished downloading and installing, he went live right away

And since so many people were looking forward to seeing him play plus the game was getting so popular so fast, that stream of when he first played hit his biggest milestone of live viewers ever

ANYWAYS skip forward to further into the game

when it comes to the gacha,,,

we’ve established that this boy is loaded. he won’t hesitate to throw some big amounts of money at the game to get every single character and weapon he wants and get their constellations to the max

i feel like he’d make little bets (and it works as a way to thank the chat for the support) like “if i get (insert newest character) in the first 50 pulls, i will gift 50 subs”

he’d be SOOOOOOO LUCKY it’d make everyone who doesn’t play think that it must be very easy to get the 5 stars or that the drop rate must be very high,,,

so in the end he’d have to gift the subs and it’d be funny to see the chat go absolutely crazy because everyone is commenting at the same time trying to see if they got lucky too and got the sub

but the chat goes so fast that they can’t even see their own comment after they send it sNDJGDJSK

he’d end up turning subs mode on for a while because it goes crazy

and that’s when he’d see people going “I GOT THE SUB-” all excited and he can’t help but chuckle and congratulate them for being one of the lucky ones

probably another game he can use to play with some subs once in a while! they could play co-op and when he’s a very high level he’d go to the worlds of some of his subs with lower level to help them with whatever they need

SO, LITTLE SKIP HERE

this is where i want the reader to slide into the picture

you’d be a voice actor, and also you have been a friend of his for a very long time

he met you even before he started streaming and you were always so supportive of him, as he was of every and each of your dreams

in fact, he would have invited you over more than once to stream with him

people don’t say anything bc they’re afraid of scaramouche banning them (it’s happened before) + they understand it can be disrespectful... but…

some people lowkey ship you two a little bit,,,,,, you didn’t hear it from me. scaramouche don’t ban me----

so one day he’s making another livestream playing genshin (sponsored by mihoyo to promote the newest update and event) and they’re going to release a new character

AND he has told everyone that you are the voice actor of the new character, who will be introduced in the event and is also getting their own banner

so everyone is very curious of what they’ll be like, if scaramouche will try to get them (obviously he will, he has every single character…. the amount of money he has put into the game…. just thinking of it gives me the heebie-jeebies)

could he even,,, main them,,,,

spoiler: he won’t because he’ll stay honest till the end (and no hard feelings) but there are other characters that he has built up to the max just like them and still work better with the way he plays but he’ll still find a chance to use them often

he didn’t know anything of what the character you voiced would be like because you wanted to keep it a surprise and he knew his audience would enjoy seeing his first reactions

I think the character you voice in the game would have the role that Scaramouche has in the actual game, and their design would be fairly similar (maybe similar color palette) to the design fans made for him as a genshin character (the one i mentioned that he uses for popup notifs of subscriptions and all!)

needless to say he’d absolutely love their personality and the charisma you showed in their lines

of course when he finally gets them he shows everything about them including all their voice lines and he compliments y/n’s voice acting… that was the first time people suspected that....

mayhaps… scaramouche….

has feelings for you....

it’s in the soft gaze in his eyes,,, the gentle smile on his lips,,, his soft voice when saying “I think this one is my favorite line of theirs”

and just how BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL his laugh sounds when someone comments he should invite you and ask you to do that voiceline live for him and everyone else

he’d jokingly reach for his phone and be like “should i call them? i could”

(but he wouldn’t because he doesn’t want to disturb you, you may be busy, considering you still hadn’t replied to the messages he sent to you before he started the stream a few hours ago)

if anyone dares be mean to you saying you got the chance to voice act for genshin just bc of scaramouche

or implies that he did something to get you there he’ll get quite mad even tho he won’t speak up about it (he might if enough people say it)

people can see something shift in his gaze,,,, and he bans them permanently right away

it’d be kinda funny when he does those “reading unban requests” streams and he goes past immediately rejecting people who said those kind of stuff, not even reading the apologies JSNKJFNDSJKGNSDK

some people say he’s too strict about it but literally his stream his rules. people who don’t like him should just not watch him

and people who like him should NOT speak badly about you or doubt your talent and effort, which is what brought you that opportunity in the first place

one day he’d be streaming playing the game, he had been using your character and gathering materials to get their last ascension

and at one point he’d grab his phone and look at the screen for a second before putting it back down and saying he had planned something else for tonight besides playing genshin for a while

then, the doorbell would ring (before he could even close the game-) and it’d be heard from his setup room so people in the chat heard it and they’re all like???

it’s definitely not takeout because scaramouche never orders takeout when he’s on his own, he usually cooks for himself and just orders it when he’s with friends and they all feel like eating something different

actually, offtopic, but i have a feeling he’d be very responsible when it comes to food and like he’d cook himself proper meals all perfectly balanced and all- he could afford having someone cook for him but his house = his privacy and personal space so he’d rather do it himself

it’s like, past 10pm, so no way it would be a package or mail at that time

and then he says “we have a visitor tonight”

and then the chat goes crazy saying “CHILDE” “HARBINGERS” but mostly “Y/N!??!?/PLEASE LET IT BE Y/N”

AND IT WAS YOU!!!!

and omg you brought takeout--------

it had been a while since they had seen you in scaramouche’s stream and you didn’t have your own channel (even though there were many people who encouraged you to open one)

SO everyone was very excited

i feel like scaramouche wouldn’t be the biggest fan of eating on camera so you guys would put the food away so that you can eat it later on your own without an audience

and you two would just spend a while talking to the chat, watching videos

AND reviewing fanart and fanmade content together!! it’d be so cute especially fanarts of the two of you together, little animatics or comics of funny clips or memes from his streams of you two,,,

someone made a little felt plushie of the genshin character you voiced and the way you COOED because it was SO cute

only those who were truly paying attention were able to notice the soft smile on scaramouche’s lips and the way he looked at you as you gushed over how cute the little plushie is and how talented the person who made it is!!

also you’d tell him you saw signora make a stream where she talked to some of her fans on discord individually to give them advice on their life/problems (nothing too serious) and it was very funny and you wanted to do that with him someday

and he’s like “that… could be a huge mess. people could say some crazy stuff” and you’re like “NO but i talked to her about it and she said she got her mods to talk to them first and approve them before they moved them up to the channel where she was to talk to her”

and he’s like “still…….. what if people lie and then when they get to talk to us they say something-”

and you’re like “BOY!!!! DO YOU NOT TRUST YOUR FANS *GASP*” and everyone in the chat is also going “GASP” “HE DOESN’T TRUST US…” “IS THIS YOUR IDOL…..?” “SAY SORRY” (all good fun, obviously he’d love to talk to everyone if he could make sure there won’t be anything disrespectful said)

SO!!!!! you two say you’ll plan to do something like that soon and everyone is very excited, they can already tell it’ll be both super cute and hilarious

before he ends the stream, you two watch some videos together

some are about some upcoming videogames and he talks about them and what he knows and explaining things to you... he is.. so knowledgeable…

the way you look at him as he goes into a little rant about it… cinematic parallels with the way he looked at you before

ONCE AGAIN, people aren’t blind. they notice. but they keep it to themselves bc scary scara (the way i had to resist overusing this one joke with his name-)

so the stream ends and you two walk out of the setup room to go to his living room and eat the takeout you brought while watching something on tv

he apologises because the food is cold now, but you brush it off saying it’s ok, you had missed being on his streams and you two can just heat up the food again

he doesn’t look at you in the eyes as he mutters that you know you can join his streams whenever, and instead just says it as he makes his way to the kitchen to heat the food

you join him in the kitchen soon after and tell him you also bought something for dessert and put it in the fridge already before

and honestly he didn’t know how much he wanted to eat that dessert until it was in his fridge, so he can’t stop himself from sighing and saying “god, i love you”

there’s silence for a second, right as the microwave beeps as it finished heating the food

it feels eternal to him, but you immediately started laughing and said jokingly “of course you do! you’re welcome!”

he’s happy you took it as a joke because that’s not how he planned to confess (he didn’t plan to confess anytime soon in the first place) but at the same time ?? he’s lowkey offended inside because? you took it as a joke?? is it so unrealistic that you wouldn’t even think that he meant it romantically?

it’s at that moment that he realises that if he didn’t want to confess before, now he does.

he wouldn’t want anyone to know about how he let that slip because he’s sure no one in you two’s friend group even knows he likes you

but you,,, actually,,,,, were actually caught off guard too because scaramouche wasn’t precisely one for words of affection and he showed his care for everyone with his actions

in fact, you had never heard him say those words before but well- it was kinda nice- if only he meant it as you feel it- but he couldn’t, right? who’d confess their feelings so casually while looking at a dessert in the fridge with desire-------

that night, it gets pretty late and to be honest he’s a little too tired to drive you home as he usually would, so he asks if you’d like to sleep over

it wouldn’t be your first time doing so, not even the first time you stayed unplanned, and he had a couple guest rooms that you could use so you accepted

also, staying for longer meant you could keep watching some more of that series with him without worrying about it getting late

or,,,

“actually” you said in a low voice, almost a whisper, since it was getting late and you two had been in complete silence while watching the series “i lowkey still wanted to stream some more”

he scoffs but then lets out a short chuckle, replying in the same volume

“it’s past 2am, who’s going to watch me stream now?”

“i would” have mercy for his poor heart- “but i’d be the streamer too this time so it doesn’t count”

“what even would we do”

“can we play that co-op game you played with childe? it was so much fun”

had you not brought it up, he wouldn’t have offered that ever because? if he had recently played it with childe he didn’t want to stream it again and make it feel repetitive for his audience

(jokes on him because when genshin came out they put up with it being the only thing he streamed for over a week. they’d rewatch any game if it’s you two playing it)

but to be honest, he didn’t really want to stream anymore that day and just wanted to be with you, just you and no one else

he got up from the couch and walked towards the hallway, making you look up to him in confusion for a second, but then started getting excited knowing this meant he was going to let you play it with him

“i don’t really feel like streaming anymore today, but we can still play it. let’s go”

the next day, you two wake up around the same time and make breakfast together

scaramouche i feel is not very talkative in the mornings

in fact, i feel like he’s just not the most talkative in general. he’s more the type to listen, but it’s different during his streams because he’s doing what he loves and talking about what he loves

and when it comes to you and he talks more it’s because he’s talking to who he loves----

before you’re going to leave and you’re standing at the door about to say goodbye to him, he suddenly speaks up before you can

“do you want to go somewhere tomorrow?”

you raise your eyebrows in curiosity from the sudden request, but then smile at him and nod

“yeah sure! what do you have in min-”

“it’s a date” he said, interrupting you, which was weird enough of him (since he would never interrupt you), but his words were even weirder-

“h-huh?” you felt the heat rising to your cheeks, and scaramouche just repeated his words

on the outside, he looked so casual and just, confident- bUT INSIDE he was actually panicking a little bit

but just a little bit.

After a moment, you smiled at him again, this time somewhat more shily but also excited for your date!

“I look forward to it”

Just with that, you two knew you had made the first step

You weren’t just friends anymore

You two had hung out on your own many times before, in fact and as it was mentioned before, you two had even slept over at his house or yours many times before

but it had all always been purely platonic, and you guys had never even questioned that aspect of it even after realising you had romantic feelings for each other

he’d spend the rest of the day thinking of what you could do the next day, as if he hadn’t been brainstorming for ideas all night either

i feel like he hasn’t gone in many (if not any--) dates before

solely because he has never been interested in romance plus he had never liked someone or at least, not as much as he liked you

and even when he found out he felt something for you, he just always told himself he was okay with how things were, because he’d never experienced anything beyond friendship and didn’t feel the need to try and maybe ruin the friendship

SO he didn’t have many ideas of what a good date could be

he definitely didn’t want a cliché corny date, but he really didn’t have any idea of what was good enough for a date

(and if for future dates you want something he’d consider a “”cliché corny date”” he’d do it for you and actually enjoy it)

the last thing he wanted was to have to ask you what you could do for your date

1- because he didn’t want to show you any side of him that didn’t look like he always has everything under control and he’s always composed (as if you wouldn’t want to see every side of him, even his most vulnerable sides- you’d have to work on that with him when you two become official)

2- he… kind of wanted to surprise you…..

but it really got to the point where he really didn’t know what you’d like the most (or what he’d like the most too) and what he wanted most over anything else is to not disappoint you in you two’s first date

SO he finally texted you asking if there was anything special you wanted to do (and therefore indirectly admitting he……….. just really wanted to ask you out. so much he did it without thinking of what he’d do if you said yes--)

you didn’t seem to mind, and in fact you were happy he asked for your opinion

overall, scaramouche was very independent so he wasn’t one to ask others for advice, opinions or anything, much less for help regarding anything

“how long has it been since we last went to the arcade? we could go there! i heard from childe that they added new games!”

and he’s like !?!?!?? THAT…. is…….. the perfect idea

“that actually sounds perfect” he admitted, and the message brought a big smile to your face

“just don’t get mad at me when you lose at all of them” he sent right after, teasing you, and you couldn’t help but let out a laugh out loud

“the last time i won in your favorite game” you reminded him, and even after he read your message, he took a little bit to reply

(he needed a second to put the pieces of his pride together SJNFKJDS)

“don’t get used to it, it won’t happen again”

“we will see about that” the more you two joked like this, the more excited you got thinking about tomorrow

scaramouche was sure now that it’d be a great first date that you’d both remember forever

the next day, it was almost the time for the date and scaramouche was going to pick you up at your house

i feel like scaramouche would be very fashionable and even in his style he doesn’t try to hide that he’s loaded…

not that he cares about buying cheap clothes, literally he’d say if he likes it and it’s good (aka it’s not cheap because it’s made of something that won’t make it last longer than 3 weeks) he’ll get it

but it just so happens that many times… the clothes he likes most are from famous brands…

AND THIS DAY!!!!!! he’s putting together one of his favorite outfits because it’s a special day

it almost hurts me just how nonchalant he’d look on the outside, making it a little hard to know exactly just how much this date meant to him (because as i said he’s not one to be very vocal about his feelings or even his thoughts)

BUT i trust that you… since you know him well…. can see past all that and you know that this is not just anything casual to him. this is special.

STILL!!!! he’d try his best to not let the blush rise to his cheeks and show, as well as to not let his voice shake when he complimented that you looked very good

ANYWAYS i think i think Scaramouche wouldn’t be one for big pda

the most he’d do where anyone can see is hold your hand or put his arm around your waist

WHICH IS WHY he’d try to be all smooth (and he would manage) reaching for your hand and lacing his fingers with yours

he wouldn’t make eye contact because then he’s sure it’ll show on his face that he’s getting somewhat flustered, but he’d still ask if you’re okay with it, to which you said yes

the area where the arcade was is always somewhat crowded so when you two were getting there, scaramouche would tighten the grip on your hand a little bit to make sure you wouldn’t let go and you’d be pulled apart by people trying to walk past however they can

you know that if you two got serious about your relationship, he would want to be the first person to share the news with his fans

BUT since he was so popular now, you two lived in a pretty big city and now were at a popular area (+ scaramouche wouldn’t be the type to try and hide his identity because he’s never had people make a fuss when they recognise him)

you were a little worried someone would see you two and maybe take a picture and post it online and it’d go viral before he can admit it himself

because of that, you end up throwing back to him the question he had asked when he held your hand

“are you sure this is okay?”

your question confused him because he didn’t know what you mean, so he finally looked you in the eyes and waited for you to explain further

“it’s just- what if somebody sees us and recognises you?”

he looked away from you and back at where he was going, taking a few seconds to answer before he just shrugged

“i don’t care”

you softly let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding as you waited for him to say something, and almost missed the way he whispered

“as long as it doesn’t affect you”

for someone who seemed and actually tried to seem to self-sufficient, who appreciated his friends but was also okay on his own because he was absolutely comfortable with himself, he was actually…

more selfless than people would ever know, especially when it came to you

you two would have SO much fun in the arcade, trying every single game many times

this time though, scaramouche won in his favorite game so he lived up to his words

you two won so many tickets you literally didn’t even know what to do with them once you got the couple prizes you were interested in

you bumped into a couple fans of his, so you talked for a while

once again, you were met with suggestions of opening your own streaming channel, and even scaramouche said “i’ve told them that many times too, but they always say they think their streams won’t be fun enough”

and the fans are like “NO!! literally everyone thinks you’re super nice and fun!! of course you don’t have to if you don’t want to, but we’d love it!!”

one of the fans (exaggerating a little as a joke) said “i’ll be your number 1 fan i swear” and the three of you laughed, except scaramouche who just scoffed and smirked

“i am ALREADY their number one fan. but good try” <- scaramouche in his head. say it outloud u coward.

but at the same time it was a joke scaramouche chill pretty much everyone knows you’re their number one fan……. even though you think you’re so smooth………. they just don’t say anything

they were very nice and fun to talk to and you knew scaramouche and you didn’t really want anything else from the prizes, so you offered you two’s tickets to them

“we don’t really need these anymore so maybe you’ll have more use for them!!”

they got SO excited, the way their eyes lit up :( scaramouche is convinced you’re an angel but he’s also very happy to see how joyful his fans got because those were more than enough for the prize they really wanted-

so after that cute little interaction and having used up your energy for competition, you two leave and think of buying some ice cream or a milkshake or something to end the date nicely and to enjoy while you walk back home

the arcade was not exactly very close to where you two lived (it was far from your house, but even farther from his-) so he asked if you were okay with walking back or if you two should get an uber or something, to which you said you were okay

walking back with him meant!! a little more time you could spend with him

and he was happy you said that because he was feeling the same way and still didn’t want the day to end

we’ll see more about the kind of things he likes and dislikes if he’s released as a playing character BUT FOR NOW i really get this vibe that he’d LOVE boba tea

i even think he’d?? enjoy tea in general??? classy boy…

SO you two would end up going to get some boba

it was very touching how, when reading the flavors they had that day, he suddenly and casually went “oh, they have your favorite” and you looked at the one he was pointing at and !!! indeed it was your favorite!!!!!!!

he remembers this kind of details very well

you take the chance to talk some more as you’re walking home

scaramouche asks about your job with voice acting and you tell him that you actually have been recording some new lines for your genshin character lately because in the next update there’ll be an event involving them

he’s looking forward to it but he teases you a little asking if it’s okay for you to spoil him with such information

but it’s okay because it’s not like he’d tell anyone, especially knowing it could get you in trouble

when he drops you off at your house, he has a hard time saying goodbye

literally you’re standing at your door and he’s in front of you, a couple steps away, looking away from you

you don’t say goodbye either, mainly because you know scaramouche is working the courage to say something, and you can also sort of guess what he wants to say

you think of saying it first, but then think that it would make scaramouche proud to be honest about his feelings and confess first

“i’ve liked you for a long time”

you can’t help the smile that makes its way onto your face, unconsciously reaching a hand up to slightly cover it

“i feel the same way” you replied to him in a soft voice

he took a deep breath and exhaled it softly, finally lifting up his gaze and making eye contact with you

it was already dark outside, so you couldn’t appreciate the faint rosy blush on his cheeks well

“can i kiss you?”

your eyes widened for a second, not expecting him to ask and if anything, thinking he’d just step forward and do it

so you were a little embarrassed and caught off-guard to reply properly, so you just nodded and put your hand down as he took the last couple steps and his face was right in front of yours

he’d cup your cheek in one of his hands, feeling the warmth of your skin

you closed your eyes, and he looked at you for a second longer before he finally leaned in and closed the short distance that separated your lips

at that moment you both knew that you had been missing on so much more when you two just settled and were content with your friendship

but!! that was about to change now, so it was all worth it

after that, scaramouche would make clear that this would be the first day of your relationship!! and even if he didn’t say it with words, you could just feel his happiness!!

so!! after that, because of work you two got a little busy the next couple months so dates weren’t very frequent

or at least, they weren’t dates like the one you first had

but still whenever you two were free he’d go over to your house, or you’d come over to his to play, stream together, or literally just spend time together doing anything

he wouldn’t let people know you two had started dating straight away (if anything, only his other streamer friends -aka you two’s friends in common- knew)

but the day he said it, he wanted you to be there

SO one day you two were streaming and you were currently reacting to one fanart of you two together

so he looked at you and you made eye contact and it was like you two spoke with your eyes like

“do we tell them now”

“let’s tell them.”

so scaramouche would clear his throat and without closing the fanart, he’d say he has something he wanted to announce

everyone was excited thinking it’d be some new project, maybe involving you

maybe some merch??? and the fanarts had reminded him of it???????

BUT THEN he straightforwardly said

“y/n and i are dating”

and everyone goes aBSOLUTELY CRAZY

amidst the chaos, you two catch a comment saying “will you unban the people who shipped you two” and you laugh

and you look at each other like “did you read that one?” “yeah”

and scaramouche is like “yeah, i guess i will have to unban some people”

and when some get unbanned they’re like “fREEDOM!!!!”

and jokingly they’re all like “APOLOGISE!!!!!!!! SAY SORRY!!!” so he just laughs and you join them being like “!!! apologise!!! you banned them for it and!! look at you now!!”

so he ends up trying to hold in another laugh as he mutters a halfassed ‘sorry’ and everyone starts commenting claps and hearts and celebrating that he apologised. now justice has been made.

the rest of that stream suddenly feels livelier and brighter!! you two are laughing a lot and so is everyone in the chat!!

and also the new genshin event would’ve already just been released that same day so you can talk about some of your experiences with recording or what you thought of it

and scaramouche would let you play it yourself!! (he still hadn’t played it) and it was also the first time you played genshin live!! you’d show people the characters you have and everything and tell them some anecdotes

people would be SHOCKED because you!? don’t have the character you voiced!? D:

and you’re like “yeah… i pulled for them and used up all my primogems and… didn’t get them”

and your banner is back because of the event, so scaramouche won’t let this slide!!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL GET YOUR CHARACTER.

your luck is terrible compared to his so at one point you’ll literally feel bad for how much he’s spending for you to get it

but he doesn’t mind at all and everyone is having fun so!!

and once you finally get them you’re sO HAPPY and everyone in the chat is celebrating

and you think it’s over but scaramouche is like ???? what are you doing?? open the wish page again. you’re going to get them c6.

and you’re like oh my gOD PLEASE NO DON’T SPEND MORE MONEY ON ME FOR THIS

but he won’t listen and he’ll do it

Do you ever wish that some people would check out our own underrated fandoms of underrated media that no one has ever seen or checked out before? I can already tell you have a bunch of underrated fandoms of said underrated media like mine that no one has ever heard or watched of.

Ooh the eternal dilemma for me, an obscure fandoms lover. Yes and no

Yes for obvious reasons. Finally people would love that piece of media the way it should ! Finally it would get posts and theories ! Finally it could have memes ! Finally it could have more fanart that isn't mine ! Finally there would be content for my ships ! Finally people would see my fanwork and it could spread and give me visibility since I'd have been until there the main provider ! Finally it could perhaps help the franchise be reborn !

And no for the sad reality of what fandoms have become. The first 2 weeks would be great. Then these bastards who crave bullying and harrassing over fake justice and kindness because it is the trend and allowing them to be mean and justified would get bored as they always do with their current fandoms and notice these new ones "Ooh ? Unsullied and still happy ? I will so destroy it ! :D" and they'd come and create conflict. They'd first seem nice and do normal looking posts and art and fics. Then they'd start policing what you must do and not do. That if you ship this you are a monster who deserves to die over fiction. That if you like this character you condone what they do. That this one person should be ostracized because they are so awful for something taken out of context they did 3 years ago they know they spied on them. Myself would end up slandered given how often I say this behavior is bullshit and I'd have this dear fandom of mine taken away from me by these people who say they want to keep it pure despite the fact they completely violated it. And once they'd be done and bored with its empty shell, they'll go to the next shiny one to corrupt

Back in the days I'd have loved 100% with no hesitation. Nowadays, I saw too many times good healthy fandoms become unhealthy as fuck in the span of a month because of jerkasses who like to feel powerful and make the whole world fit their views and opinions all for throwing it away once it's a shadow of what it used to be once the trend passed. And I find it very sad and wish this decade long tendancy (10 years already !...) will reach its due time soon and fandom spaces will be back to its rightful ways like back during the forums era

I just read all your Karasu x Sabo fanfics (with Google translate cuz I dont speak French) and I'm un looove with them😍😍😍 they are such an underated ship! Before checking your fics I only saw like 2 fanfics and some fanart on PIXIV but It was not as much as the ones from other ships 😭😭😭 (Plus there Is hardly fanarts of Karasu!!!). Anyway, do you have any headcanons about them as ship? 💖

Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for taking your time to read my fanfictions! Kudos to you! ^^ I also have difficulties to find good fanarts about them. Well, I have some headcanons for them.

Canon-verse

-Sabo and Karasu met when a small bird was hurt. Karasu helped the young man to heal the animal. They kept a look over the bird until it was healed enough to fly again.

-Sometimes, Karasu and Sabo train together, but they always end up kissing on the floor. It's a joke between them.

-They have their super-secret spot on Baltigo, in which they can gaze lovingly the sea. They usually take a snack there until the night.

-During missions together, they try to be together as much as they can but they also remain professional. It's not a common fact they are currently dating.

-After their missions, Sabo enjoys to take a nap on Karasu's back when they fly back to Baltigo. Let's say they just love this moment, when it's just the two of them, alone in the world, lost in the sky.

-Someone actually saw them in the showers, and the word spread out. The Chief of Staff and the North Blue Commander were together! Half of Baltigo is jealous of Karasu. Lots of people think Sabo is awesome.

-Karasu is the only person Sabo shares his notes with. Karasu is a good critic and doesn't hesitate to help his young lover.

Alternate Universe

-Sabo is a reporter and he met Karasu when Karasu published his book about human rights, environmentalism, feminism. Because they share a lot in common, they end up together.

-Karasu is a pilot, he painted crows on his small plane. He also shows Sabo breathtaking landscapes because that's the most romantic date, right? ^^

-Sabo and Karasu enjoy trekking. They like to be alone snacking close to a lake and taking pictures about birds together.

-They are super-massive bookish nerds. Sometimes, evening and night are just silence. Sabo ends up sleeping on Karasu's shoulder.

-They do enjoy drinking tea as a date, they often argue about which perfume is the best. Green, white or black? That's quite the question!

-Sabo is hardly a morning person. Karasu usually waits him to wake up to take breakfast in the bed. But they mostly like taking it in their kitchen.

-They live in a small house built with lots of wood, it's environment-friendly.

right away sorry if this gets too ranty I've just been Thinking lately and i feel like twn is such a good example of like. this idea that Real and Good film and television can only be made by Hollywood i guess? like there's even this polish saying that roughly translates to "you praise the foreign and don't know your own" which gets made fun of a lot but also. it's very true imo. like i still wonder what could've been if actual good polish filmmakers were entrusted with making a new witcher (1/?

and it would've been such a good opportunity for like. one showcasing that there Can be good art and entertainment made locally and two some genuine cultural exchange. like i know its too big of an idea for Capitalism™ but if there was a well made polish-language show on international Netflix like. idk i feel like maybe that could spark some interest in like broadening peoples horizons and changing their views on what fantasy looks like etc and its just frustrating that there wasnt even a chance

i really agree. i have been dreaming recently about what my ideal "visual adaptation" of the witcher would look like, and what i've come up with essentially is something like the polish audiodramas set to 2D animation by fans of the witcher. subs, not dubs, i guess?

gilthoniel1173 on youtube has uploaded many select clips of the audiodramas, translated them and set them to pictures. amazing work and i highly recommend this.

i really value the majority of sapkowski's prose, though there are faults with the witcher, his prose really has a marvelous quality to it and i am trying to think of a way to keep this intact. something like the audiodramas in which there are narration may be the best way to go, with subtitles so that

it's the sort of thing i think about like, hey, if i had netflix's budget (approx. $70 to $80 million, [dies]), how would i make the witcher adaptation?

disclaimer: i hesitated to @ artists because i feel like it sends the message that i am saying, "hey you, specifically, should do this idea for free, also btw, i only see you as a witcher fanartist and nothing more :)" this is not my intention, what i want to do here is just want to bring light to these artists in the community and the work they have done, both witcher-related and original work (and i hope that i am in no way defining them as 'only-witcher' artists). additionally, this is in no way suggesting that i don't want to involve any artists i did not mention or that i do not adore the work of other artists in the witcher fandom, these are just the immediate two i think of when i think of animating the witcher.

embracing the roots, introducing diversity

my main point in this section is that i believe the polish & eastern european culture of the witcher is essential to it, at the same time i also value diversity and uplifting people of color. i do not believe that these two concepts are in conflict with one another! a discussion simply needs to be held, which is something that netflix did not do because it had few eastern european voices on the set, and kept the voices of color it did have down.

something netflix failed to do is acknowledge the witcher's cultural origins... at all. really, at all. in the writing, in the dialogue, in the set design, in the character and fashion design... and they had the opportunity to do this. this is massively disappointing and thoughtless.

my goal would be to bring polish & other eastern european writers who are fans of the witcher to work through the prose to tell the story. i would also like to have female and lgbt voices in this because the witcher has some elements that are...! disconcerting, let's just say. as we saw with lauren, having a woman in charge doesn't immediately make things not misogynist anymore, somehow she added to the misogyny of the witcher. but i think this is still a step in the right direction. additionally, this writing process would NOT look like writing fanfiction. it would really be going through and working with the artists and translating the prose, deciding what should be kept and what should be left out (some things like forest gramps should be left out, wouldn't you agree?).

new scenes could be added, but they would just have to be done for a reason. i believe the 2002 hexer did this somewhat-successfully in scenes such as this one, in which they develop relationships between characters just that little bit more and add to the pathos of the witcher (which is quite direct and does not "loiter" upon many things!)

i would also really value the voices of set designers, fashion historians, food historians, and cultural anthropologists who are from + study poland & eastern europe because i believe the history and culture should be integrated into the witcher and appreciated, demonstrated in a positive and celebratory light to the world, without doing so in a cultural appropriation-like manner (in which elements are just taken without any knowledge of where they are from and what context they hold). also, yes, the witcher is not a historical fantasy - but its setting is inspired by history and it would be rewarding to see a visual fantasy universe that is not based in english culture!

i think the witcher community is really vast and holds many opinions... this is both a good and bad thing, because "the witcher fandom" includes both people of color and like, white supremacists. i will say that i wouldn't want the latter working on the project, just saying. i would like to see designs of color for the cast of the witcher (i have done a few but hesitated to post them, lol) and sensitivity readings, NOT just diversity for views like netflix performed, but diversity that empowers, makes sense, and isn't "people of color are in this, they are either white-passing or just there to support the white characters." ... i also would like to think about how we approach diversity, as in, designs/casting of color should not be relegated to insignificant or evil characters, the good protagonists could be people of color. i would also like to think about and avoid problematic tropes such as when white characters in a media teach and "civilize" a young person of color, or when "monsters" or non-human characters are cast as people of color... i think people of color should be given roles in which they are in control, powerful, desirable, and good. we need to think about the message we send. in the end, my goal would be "genuine cultural exchange" as you said.

additionally: i think involving jewish and indigenous (broad terms, but i mean them to be broad) voices specifically in conversations about writing would be significant because sapkowski made some decisions in the witcher which can come off as offensive to these groups in particular (regarding the parts of the story about elves, dwarves, gnomes, dryads, and specific characters such as yennefer and regis).

honestly, not many thoughts here! can we really get any better than the soundtrack of the witcher 3? cdpr has many faults, but their music is not one of them in my opinion.

afterthoughts

i was displeased to learn that alik sakharov left twn because of not being appreciated and instead being fought on his writing, but i feel a project like this would actually value input like his instead of kicking him out and citing "creative differences"

what is really the most significant thing to me is good writing and ciri's relationship with her parents, because i believe these being taken away is one of the things which was most painful about netflix's "adaptation."

Now AOT is over...

So, I read the final chapter of Attack On Titan and there are a lot of thoughts and feelings. But overall I'm pleased with the whole story and the ending. I trusted Isayama and he didn't disappoint me.

There are certain things I'd like to go into detail about Levi, Ymir, Mikasa, Eren etc and certain moments during the story.

So if anyone cares here we go. (warning, this got long and contains spoilers for chapter 139 and obviouisly the whole story!)

First, Ymir Fritz, Eren, and Mikasa.

The more we got to know Ymir, the more we knew about her circumstances and how it all started, the more I asked myself, why she doesn’t simply stop all of the misery, if she can and, obviously, has the power to do so (chapter 122).

I thought, perhaps, because she loves King Fritz so much, after all, she sacrificed herself in order to protect him (which I didn’t like at all, because he was a shitty person). But then I wasn't sure if Isayama would use 'love' in such a way. He did and it's nothing new but it's something we can all understand. Love is good, but it can also be something bad, something toxic, and Ymir was most likely a slave of her own feelings because she didn't know better. Her life was miserable until she got the power to become a Titan and gave birth to the daughters of the king. But as you can see, at the beginning of chapter 122 she watches a couple getting married and that was what she wanted too. To be loved. This was the love she knew and the love she protected and believed that was true love (most likely) because she didn't know a different kind of love.

When Eren told her, that she can decide and asked her to give him the power he needs, it didn’t sit well with me. I guess because I never connected Eren to have any romantic feelings (though I guessed so much when it comes to Mikasa and he simply wanted to be cool or something). But AOT in itself doesn’t display love in the way we usually see, that became very clear to me with each new chapter. And love is not the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about AOT.

Now about Eren.

Oh boy, look at that. When Eren slowly became the villain I liked the idea but at the same time I was questioning it. It simply made no sense to me why he would want to kill everyone and yet care so deeply about his friends. Also, Isayama is not that sort of person to let his characters act out of character. Whatever the characters I agreed with it because that was how Isayama created them. That's why, when it came out that Eren was able to see the past, present, and future, I thought he probably saw a way to stop all of this and protect his friends. Isayama played us good, when Eren was rude towards Mikasa and Armin and then the rumbling came, but I constantly thought 'No, there must be more to it'. And yeah, Eren saw a possible future because everything was unclear to him and he grabbed that chance and took it.

Remember in the first season, when Eren, Levi, and Levi's squad were fighting against the female titan and that Eren has to decide what he should do and what not? That he has to accept the consequences? Yeah, Eren did that and he knew it was bad but it was the way he believed in and saw, even if it meant to kill 80% of humanity (what the...) and sacrifice his own life. I don't see Eren as a hero nor as a villain. But he definitely acted on his own free will and accepted the consequences.

Now about Mikasa.

Well, I'll be honest, I was never a fan of Mikasa. I didn't like how she was solely focused on Eren and didn't seem to have her own goals that were not connected to Eren. I simply didn't like that and Eren wasn't my favourite either, but I love their development. The moment I started to feel sorry for her was when Eren said he hated her. You see, I get it, I understand why Mikasa is the way she is and I'm simply no fan of this 'I do everything for you, fuck everyone else' especially not in a world like AOT, I also understand the Ackermann Bond (I ship Eruri after all). So I was really pissed at Eren to stomp on her feelings like that because, no matter how much I like or dislike a person, you don't treat them the way Eren did (also toward Armin). From that moment on, I enjoyed her development and when she cut off Eren's head I was sad and happy for her.

So, in many ways, Mikasa is like Ymir, or rather, Ymir is like Mikasa, but on a whole different level. Mikasa, who devoted herself to Eren, just like Ymir did to King Fritz, saw that what he was doing was wrong and she decided to stop him. She loves him still, of course, but she was able to do what Ymir couldn't and she did it for the greater good. Because there is more than Eren, there are more people who deserve to live. I did like that and also that her action was the eye-opener for Ymir. It doesn't change the way Mikasa feels about Eren, and that's okay, but she was willing to kill the person she loves more than anything because it was the right thing to do. Ymir simply couldn't do what Mikasa did because she didn't know better.

About Levi, Erwin's death, Armin saving humanity, Berthold wasn't supposed to die, and just some thoughts about AOT in general.

Now, I do ship Levi and Erwin together and I was sure Levi would die and meet Erwin in the afterlife and then Isayama would out them (haha). But I'm just happy that Levi survived and is now the adopted uncle of Gabi and Falco. He's my favorite character and a lot of things would have ended badly without him. For me, he and Erwin and their squad represented not only a strong force and saviours but also how you probably have to be in order to survive/handle a world like AOT.

So I was shocked, at first, when Levi saw Erwin and the others because I thought he would die, but when the tear ran down his cheek, I could feel how everything fell of his shoulders. Levi never cried, never had time to mourn his comrades because he understood the world they were living in and that he needed to keep on moving. I never considered him as someone cold because he clearly wasn't. But he also never cried and seeing that... finally. And I'm sure he cried some more after everything. I thought he would cry (he was close to though and perhaps did when he was alone) when Erwin died because that fucking broke him.

Their relationship fascinated me even before I started to ship them but it broke my fucking heart when Erwin died too.

And here we come to the part about Armin and Bertholg.

I was so pissed that Armin survived and even more when things just became worse. I thought, in AOT, you can't solve everything through talking. It worked during certain critical moments, yes, but it simply isn't the main key for everything when it comes to the world of AOT.

So, I never understood why Armin had to survive and not Erwin and it became more and more confusing for me as the story continued because Armin, clearly, is not Erwin and he doesn't have what Erwin has. I don't know if things would have been better with Erwin being in charge, but he would have definitely done something while Armin didn't know what to do. Sure, he is younger than Erwin, doesn't have the experience as Erwin does and in his core he is very different, and that's totally fine. Armin is fine the way he is, but during the story. I constantly found myself thinking: 'With Erwin and his mind, we wouldn't be in such a situation'. I once read somewhere that Levi and Erwin are too smart to be fooled by, for example, Yelena. I can't help but agree.

And today, when I read the final chapter and Eren said 'Berthold wasn't supposed to die on that day' and also, that he couldn't see the past and future as separated paths but everything at once I thought, that this is Isayama giving us his version but there are also many many other ways this story could go. Which is, for me, such a sweet and grateful message. We are free to choose our path (fanfiction/fanart etc) and to create a different story, but this AOT version is his version and how he imagined it, or rather, how Eren saw one possible happy end.

I'm still certain with Erwin around things would have been different, better even, but I understand Eren too. I guess, he didn't only choose Armin because he knew things would have a happy ending for his friends. He also choose Armin because of personal feelings. I wonder what would have happened if Berthold survived, was there also a happy end but without Armin? And perhaps without the rumbling? I think it's nice that Isayama did this and that he, basically, points at a different way but it's up to us.

Now, the rumbling is over and so is the power of the titans and in such a world, someone like Armin is the right person to be in. Now it's all about talking, having a proper conversation, creating relationships through words. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Erwin would have been able to do that as well, but Armin is much more diplomatic than Erwin because he doesn't want to fight or kill, it's really the last option for him. Erwin on the other hand wouldn't hesitate, and someone like him was important for the world before the rumbling was over.

Now some general thoughts about AOT now that it's over.

Okay, so, I watched tons of Anime when I was a teenager and the best thing for me was Death Note. But after Death Note I found nothing that really interested me and a lot of weird stuff. I don't know, it simply wasn't for me. However, I continued reading my yaoi Mangas and even studied Japanese for a year. Then, I did hear about Attack on Titan but I was so used to shitty Anime that I thought it would be shitty too (the next best thing I found was Yuri on Ice). However, a friend of mine gave me the first season and I thought, well, why not. I was so wrong and through AOT I found my way back to Anime.

It's not just the story, not just the art-style I like, it's Isayama and his brain I enjoy so much. I'm a very logical person and I like it when stories and things make sense and are connected from the beginning till the end and when it never feels forced but natural, true, loyal to the characters and the world they created. I don't know how he does it but I'm so grateful for AOT and that he decided to share this amazing story with us (even though it was fucking painful and my poor Levi). It's really been a while for me to find a story that caught me like Death Note did many years ago.

So, ありがとう、Isayama-San!

But I'd love to know more about the Ackermans and Levi and perhaps we'll get a book like Answers etc later. That would be great.

Hey! I'm sorry this took so long! Thank for for requesting Gowther as part of as a parent series! (If I can even call it a series XD)

Personally I really ship Gowther with Slader. But I was it to make it generalized so it can be with anyone.

*I'm not sure whether or not Gowther can have biological children. But, with the amount of magic in the world and great power of adoption. I dont think that matters!

*If he marries I can see him wearing both a wedding dress and a suit. I could not make up my mind which one.

*if his child marries. He will have the best mother of the bride dress, that will leave anyone jealous.

*I think if he ever gets concept of sentimanity he will have so many scrap books of his family and friends. If he doesnt he will appreciate it if his partner or friends do it for him.

*Will probally read every parenting book he can find.

*Given how upset he was at losing Daddy Gowther... Also losing Naja. (He may have a few abandonment issues) I think Gowther will be hesitent to leave his children for long periods of time.

Kafka/Stelle

I was down bad for Kafka ever since I first saw her and it’s no surprise that this ship quickly found a way into my heart.

Or maybe for some reason Stelle gets briefly kidnapped by Kafka, and just because Stelle understands what Stockholm Syndrom is, doesn’t mean it’s easy to resist falling for her captor

I also love the dichotomy they have going when it comes to their approch to destiny. Kafka claims to believe in destiny, yet supports our expression of free will at every step. And despite being part of Estio’s plan Stelle is clearly carving her own destiny as a Trailblazer and there’s just something really poetic about it. I feel like it’s that aspect of Stelle that makes Kafka smitten with her

Ruan Mei/Stelle

I didn’t know I would grow to love Ruan Mei as much as I did, but she ended up really exceeding my expectations.

I’ll gladly take more shenanigans with the anti-truth serum. What if Ruan Mei starts using it to avoid having Stelle confess, since she has no idea how to handle other’s affection towards her. Or maybe Ruan Mei assumes the memory lose side effect kicked in when it clearly didn’t and Stelle is now keeping up the illusion of losing memories (since she has first-hand experience and stuff), because she’s afraid that Ruan Mei will leave if she discovers Stelle has her memories. Or alternatively, the memory lose side effect did kick in and Stelle is now desperately trying to grasp all the affection slipping away from her. Or what if something went wrong during preparations and Ruan Mei accidentally wiped out her memory (or maybe it wasn’t an accident?), forcing Stelle to look after her

I’m also up for all the critter shenanigans. Stelle bonding with critters and trying to make Ruan Mei care more for them since it raises the chances of her returning to Hearta Station. Or they start an actual cult. If this event showed something it’s that you could make a religion out of Ruan Mei.

It’d also be interesting to see a research taking Ruan Mei down a strange or dark path and her dragging Stelle down with her. We’d already seen how narrow her view becomes when she hyperfocuses on her research. What if she ends up hurting Stelle in the process. Feel free to go dark with this prompt.

Acheron/Stelle

The first meeting between Stelle and Acheron sold me so much on this ship. The unreal atmosphere of the dreamscape, mixing with Acheron's strange questions. It made for a very memorable introduction and then getting to know her just made her even better.

I would love any and all misadventured with her in Pencony. Feel free to disregard the timeline and have the two of them go on a shopping trip. Or maybe they end up getting themselve into trouble. Or maybe a research into Clockie at Universal Park after Acheron learns we can see him.

I'm also very okay with playing into the trippy atmosphere of their first meeting. Has Acheron and Stelle met before? We know they likely didn't, but I loved how that scene makes you second guess it, erasing the line between dreams and reality, truth and lies. Maybe Stelle dreams of different pasts and futures involving Acheron, slowly starting to lose sight of what really happened and what is only a dream.

Aventurine & Stelle

All memes about the way Aventurine says friend, aside. He really needs one. And Stelle is weird enough to stick around even with how unhinged he can get.

Feel free to disregard the timeline and have the two of them explore Penacony. I can absolutely see Stelle absorbing Aventurine's bad influence like a sponge and getting into gambling. Do they win it all, or lose miserably? Do they get into trouble with Penacony's underworld? Or maybe they just spend their time having harmless fun.

I would also love a post-Penacony story. I'm fine with both scenarios where Aventurine escapes IPC and forges a new identity for himself, or scenario where his gamble ends up failing and he gets dragged back into serving corporate overlords. For the former it would be fun to see a big plan on how to smuggle Aventurine out of Penacony without IPC realizing what is going on. Also, I love the idea of awkward atmosphere on the train, as we try to transport him to a nearby planet, since technically he did honor his part of deal, and Stelle is the only one to think that the whole big battle is a water under the bridge. Or maybe he manages to weasel his way into the Express as a more pernament passanger.

AUs and ships

I’d rather avoid setting AUs for this canon, since I feel like it would be hard to replicate the elements that make those relationships so fun. I’d however love any canon divergences. I’d love an AU where Kafka is a double agent and has separate identity as Stellaron Hunter and someone on the Express. Or maybe since Kafka has powers affecting mind, there’s some sort of mental link between her and Stelle. What if Stelle starts to regain her memories. For Ruan Mei I think an AU where she starts to tamper more with Simulated Universe would be fun. Maybe something happens to Hearta and Ruan Mei starts to lead the development or it’s an AU where it was always her project. Or maybe Ruan Mei’s secret project in Herta’s lab was something different. For Penacony characters, feel free to really delve into idea of dreams and all the associated weirdness.

I’d rather characters I requested aren’t shipped with anyone else. I wouldn’t want an outright love triangle, but I’m okay with mentions of Stelle potentially having feelings for other women I requested her with without being in relationship. Please don't ship Aventurine with anyone. I’m fine with background Bronya/Seele. Feel free to inquire about other background pairings.

I love the idea of Miwa monitoring Hyuse when he sees him in the Border, because he’s an enemy. What if Jin roped Miwa into helping mantain Hyuse’s cover story. What if they bonded over their shared dislike of Jin. I’d also love a scenario where Miwa squad didn’t know that Hyuse is a Neighbor and interacted with him normally (while Hyuse was under assumption that they obviously know and are just helping maintain his cover). What if Miwa was taking part in the away mission alongside Hyuse?

Holy heck, look at this. A regular update TWICE in a row! Here’s some more smol Zuko for you all. Some smol Zuko and a bit of the Northern Water Tribe.

Again, this fic is inspired by @muffinlance‘s fic Salvage and fanart that @agent-jaselin did of it.

“I hate laundry again,” Toklo muttered as he scrubbed a dirty shirt.

“It was nice to have hot water,” Panuk agreed. Enough time had passed that Toklo was no longer giving Panuk the cold shoulder for not telling him about his brother. Panuk had tried to hide how relieved he was when Toklo finally started up a conversation with him again.

Zuko hadn’t bothered to hide his relief. He’d been the only person Toklo would talk to for a while. Given that most of Toklo’s interactions with him had changed due to his young age, it was obvious the firebender wanted someone, anyone else to be the subject of Toklo’s attention. Panuk looked over at the toddler in question.

Since becoming four years old, Zuko had been unable to heat water or dry clothes. Apparently, those tricks required more skill than someone his age had. He had been relegated to scrubbing again, but after falling into the washtub three times, demoted further. Now, he handed Toklo dirty clothes and Panuk clean clothes.

At least, that’s what Zuko was supposed to be doing. At the moment, his arms were out before him, a tiny flame hovering above his cupped hands.

“I’m working,” Zuko said quickly, noticing Panuk’s eyes on him. The flame disappeared, his arms fell to his side, and he stood. He toddled over to Toklo, took the clean shirt from him, and brought it over to Panuk.

“Why have you been doing that so much?” Panuk asked as he inspected the shirt for holes.

“I’m a firebender. I’m supposed to firebend,” Zuko said in a sulky tone. He went over to the pile of dirty clothes and brought a pair of pants to Toklo.

“Aw, don’t get upset, Zuko,” Toklo said. He patted Zuko’s head, wetting his hair. “We’re just not used to you doing that particular kind of firebending all the time. Is it like meditating?”

“Not really.” Zuko sat down again. He kicked the backs of his heels against the floorboards, seemingly without realizing he was fidgeting. “It’s an exercise in control. One of the first that firebenders learn. I need to make sure I maintain control of my inner fire, even while I’m stuck like this.”

“What sort of other things do little firebenders learn?” Panuk asked curiously. Discovering the shirt to have no holes, he hung it up to dry.

“If you’re a regular firebender, some easy forms to generate fire, but mostly just manipulating fire that already exists.” Zuko scowled. “If you’re Azula, forms used in combat,” he muttered, crossing his arms. Toklo handed him the cleaned shirt. Zuko took it and brought it over to Panuk.

“I wonder if the Chief would let you do any of those forms,” Toklo remarked as Zuko handed him a pair of socks. “I mean, you can’t cause as much damage as you could when you were bigger. Right?”

“I…don’t know,” Zuko said after a moment. He crossed his arms again, his lower lip jutting out in a pout. “I’m certainly not coordinated enough right now to do advanced or intermediate forms. But even beginner forms can produce a lot of flames. Especially if the firebender lacks control.”

“But you have control,” Panuk said.

“Yes.” Zuko looked at his feet. “…For the most part.”

“If you do the forms you mentioned that just involve controlling fire, not making it-” Toklo began. Zuko’s head whipped up. He scowled at both crewmen.

“Why do you want me to do actual firebending forms so badly?” he snapped.

“Watching a baby firebender dancing around the deck would be adorable,” Toklo said. Panuk nodded. Zuko’s scowl deepened.

“But the Chief probably won’t let you practice,” Panuk said. “You’re a little kid now, but we’re still on a very flammable ship.” He thumped the wooden boards with a booted foot for emphasis.

“I’m not a little kid,” Zuko mumbled. His fingers twitched.

“Go run around the deck for a bit,” Panuk instructed.

“No. Why?”

“You’re fidgeting again. The Chief said that you need to run off your extra energy, remember?”

“But-” Zuko started.

“Seal Jerky could use the exercise, too,” Toklo put in. Zuko sighed, but stomped away.

“Smart,” Panuk said with a nod. “Turning into a kid made him even more attached to the dog.” Toklo grinned.

“I have my moments.”

Zuko sat on the deck, idly playing with Seal Jerky as the members of the crew did actual work around him. He’d prefer to join in, but according to Hakoda, none of the tasks were ones he was allowed to do.

“Ahoy, the boat!” a voice called. Zuko’s head jerked up. That voice didn’t come from anyone on the Akhlut. He got to his feet and hurried to the side of the boat. Unfortunately, he was too short to see anything.

“I got you, little prince,” Ranalok said, lifting Zuko and propping him on his hip. Zuko’s instinct to argue angrily against the humiliating moniker was wiped away by what he now saw. A ship, also Water Tribe by the looks of it, approaching.

“Is that…?” Tuluk asked, joining Ranalok and Zuko. Bato came over as well.

“It is,” said Bato. “That’s a ship from the Northern Tribe.” He glanced at Zuko. “Wonder if they’ll have any healers.” He cleared his throat. “Ahoy!” he called back in response. Faint cheering echoed across the water, as the sister tribes rejoiced at reunion.

Hakoda was fetched, and the Akhlut waited eagerly until the ship from their sister tribe was close enough for the boarding planks to be laid across. Zuko got Ranalok to put him down, then hid behind Bato’s legs. He didn’t enjoy giving into childish urges, but at the moment, he didn’t want to draw attention to himself.

The first person to board the Akhlut was an elderly man with a severe face. Zuko peered around Bato’s legs curiously.

“My name is Master Pakku,” the man said, bowing to Hakoda. “Myself and some other members of the Northern Tribe set off to assist in the rebuilding of the South Pole.”

“Chief Hakoda,” Hakoda replied, inclining his head in return. Pakku nodded.

“Your children told me of you.”

“My…”

“Sokka and Katara.”

“You met my son and daughter?” Hakoda asked. Pakku nodded again.

“As well as the Avatar. I’m more than happy to tell you about their stay at the North Pole.”

“Please,” Hakoda said.

“Do you have a cabin where we can speak in private?”

“Yes. Follow me.” Pakku followed Hakoda only a few steps before he caught sight of Zuko watching from behind Bato’s legs. Zuko quickly hid again, but it was too late.

“You have a child on board?” Pakku asked, aghast. “This is a warship, is it not?”

“Nuktuk is a special case,” Hakoda said. Zuko fought back the instinctive scowl at the fake name.

“We found him in a Southern village that had been completely destroyed by the Fire Nation,” Hakoda continued. The lie had been spoken so many times by now, it came out without hesitation. “He was the only survivor. Whatever soldier found him chose not to outright kill him, just wound him. Most likely because he’s, well…” Hakoda turned to Zuko. “Nuktuk, come say hello to Master Pakku.” Reluctantly, Zuko emerged from his hiding spot. He walked over to Pakku and bowed. Pakku crouched down to look more closely at him. Sympathy and understanding sparked in his ice-cold blue eyes.

“Ah. We have some children sired by the Fire Nation brutes, as well,” Pakku said after a moment. He stood. “Why have you not dropped him off at a village to be cared for?”

“We were unable to return to our own villages to have him be cared for by Water Tribe. And given his trauma, we thought it best to not leave him in some Earth Kingdom town.”

“You’re probably right,” Pakku said after a moment. He smiled at Zuko. The smile felt forced and cold. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Nuktuk. We have women aboard our fleet who will be more than happy to take care of you.”

“Do you have healers?” Hakoda asked. Pakku nodded. “Excellent. While I speak with Pakku, could someone bring Nuktuk to be looked at by a healer?”

“I think someone would be willing to wrangle the kid,” Bato drawled, eyeing Panuk and Toklo, who just now had come to the deck to see what the commotion was about. Panuk strode over to Zuko and picked him up.

“Of course, Chief,” he said. Hakoda and Pakku disappeared into the chief’s cabin. “Come on, Nuktuk.”

The healers Zuko was brought to were all women, something that befuddled him. Didn’t the Northern Water Tribe have male healers? The Southern Water Tribe did.

Zuko was instructed to remove his outer clothes and then gently placed in a tub of water. He laid back, keeping his breathing steady, hoping against hope that they might find out what was wrong with him. Being a toddler wasn’t something he enjoyed.

“Hmm,” said the woman bending the glowing water in the tub. She’d introduced herself as Yugoda. “Nuktuk, you’re a bender, aren’t you?”

“Yes,” Zuko said. Responding to the fake name was humiliating, but he’d become resigned to it at this point.

“You don’t seem to be a waterbender…”

“He’s a firebender,” Panuk said. Yugoda stopped bending. She stared at Panuk. “He’s a, um…” Panuk leaned in to whisper. “War bastard.”

“I figured that out just by looking at him,” Yugoda said dismissively. “We have some at the North Pole as well. But none of them firebenders. They all pass away before their first birthday, once the dark winter starts.”

“…Oh.” Panuk cleared his throat. “Well, Nuktuk’s special.”

“Evidently.” Yugoda resumed bending. Being surrounded by water was harrowing, but somehow, Zuko felt his eyes beginning to close. “Ooh, looks like someone’s due for a nap. Don’t worry, I can finish checking him over while he’s sleeping.” Zuko snapped his eyes open, only for them to drift shut again as he dozed off.

“I’ve never been so glad to pack more than I need,” a voice said. Zuko’s eyes opened. He sat up. “Oh! Hello, Nuktuk!” A young woman entered Zuko’s field of vision. She beamed at him.

“It’s about time you woke up,” said Bato’s voice. Zuko looked over. Bato was sitting nearby, cross-legged. “You slept during the healing session and being carried off the boat and everyone pitching tents and dinner.” Zuko looked around. As he slowly woke up, he could now tell he was in a tent.

“Yugoda said that the healing session might have caused you to sleep deeper and longer than normal,” said the woman. She smiled apologetically. “Sorry.” Zuko’s stomach rumbled. “I’ll go get you something to eat!” The woman dropped the clothes she was holding and left the tent.

“That’s Yuka. She’s got a kid your age back at the North Pole,” Bato explained. “The second she saw you, she insisted on watching you.” Bato nodded at the clothes Yuka had dropped. “And adjusting some of her kid’s clothes to fit you. Just before you woke up, she was telling me how she packed clothes for her kid, only to realize she didn’t need them, since he was staying behind.”

“…I’m getting more clothes?” Zuko asked, deciding to respond to the last thing Bato mentioned.

“Yep. Water Tribe clothes, not the Earth Kingdom stuff we bought.” Bato leaned back. “Hakoda had me watch you, just to make sure Yuka didn’t try to steal you or anything.”

“Would she do that?” Zuko asked quietly. After a moment to think, Bato shook his head.

“Probably not. But better safe than sorry.”

“What were the results of the healing session?” Zuko asked.

“Yugoda’s talking to Hakoda about that right now. Oh, and he wanted me to remind you to be on your best behavior.”

“I always am!” Zuko protested. Bato snorted.

“Sure. But in this case, best behavior means acting like a regular toddler, okay? Don’t say or do anything that would make anyone think you’re something other than a Water Tribe four-year-old,” Bato said. Zuko looked down at his lap. “Not saying anything is an option, if you have no idea how someone your age talks.” Zuko nodded silently.

“I heard you like sea prunes,” Yuka said, entering the tent again with a plate of the aforementioned food. She handed it to Zuko. “Eat up! A growing boy like you needs a full tummy!” Bristling at the cloying and condescending tone, Zuko nevertheless did as he was told.

Yuka worked fast. By the time Zuko finished his dinner, she had finished altering an entire outfit to fit him.

“I can dress him, if you’d like,” she offered. Bato shook his head.

“Nuktuk can dress himself.”

“…Oh.” Yuka deflated. She recovered quickly, beaming at Zuko. “You’re such a smart boy!”

“Would you mind turning away?” Bato asked. “He likes privacy.”

“Oh, of course.” Yuka and Bato turned away, allowing Zuko to dress himself without being watched.

“Done,” Zuko said, once he had pulled on the last article of clothing. Yuka squealed.

“You look so much like my little boy, Kota. Except for your hair…” Yuka patted her lap. “Come here, Nuktuk.” Zuko looked at Bato, who shrugged. Reluctantly, Zuko walked over and sat in Yuka’s lap. “A young warrior like yourself can’t have such messy hair,” Yuka said.

Zuko’s hair had been getting long lately.

“It’ll only take me a second to fix that up for you,” she continued, pulling Zuko’s hair back. “And…done! Now you’ve got a proper warrior’s wolf tail.” Yuka patted Zuko’s head. “No one would be able to tell you weren’t full Water Tribe.”

Something uncomfortable uncurled in Zuko’s stomach. Hakoda popped his head into the tent. He did a double-take at the sight of Zuko in Water Tribe clothes and with a Water Tribe hairstyle, but masked his surprise quickly.

“Bato, Nuktuk, come with me.” Zuko hopped off Yuka’s lap.

“Nuktuk, what do we say?” Bato said, stopping him from leaving the tent. With a soft sigh, Zuko turned to Yuka and bowed.

“Thank you,” he said. Yuka beamed.

“No problem.”

“Now, let’s see what the chief has to say,” Bato said. He took Zuko’s hand and led him out of the tent. The two walked through the sea of tents that had been pitched for the night, allowing the sister tribes to spend time together. The women from the Northern Water Tribe cooed at Zuko as he walked past, commenting on the “little warrior”.

Zuko wasn’t sure whether he preferred “little warrior” or “little prince”.

He and Bato arrived at Hakoda’s tent and entered. Hakoda and Kustaa were waiting for them. Kustaa raised an eyebrow at Zuko.

“I like this new look for you, nephew,” he commented. Zuko flushed. Kustaa patted a spot next to him. Zuko walked over and sat. Bato sat next to Hakoda. “Healer Yugoda told us what she was able to determine from her healing session, as well as what all she healed in you.” Zuko swallowed nervously.

“And?” he asked. Before he could get a response, someone entered the tent. All heads turned to the man stepping inside, Pakku.

“Master Pakku, we were going to talk with Nuktuk in private,” Hakoda said. Pakku sat across from Zuko.

“I know.” His eyes bored into Zuko. Zuko met Pakku’s steely gaze in return. “I wanted to speak with Nuktuk as well. Yugoda just told me that he is spirit touched.”

“We were hoping to tell Nuktuk this ourselves,” Hakoda said firmly. Pakku raised an eyebrow.

“I think he knew he was spirit touched without me saying so.”

“Master Pakku-”

“I received word from an old friend some time ago,” Pakku said, talking over Hakoda. “He informed me that he had lost his nephew at sea.” A chill passed through Zuko. “He was hopeful that his nephew may have been able to save himself; the boy was very stubborn and strong, after all. Though every day that passed, he felt less and less certain. All he could do was pray to the spirits.” Pakku placed his hands in his lap and leaned forward. Zuko sat straight, fighting the instinct to lean back. “He’ll be pleased to find that they stepped in.”

“What are you trying to say?” Hakoda asked. Pakku continued to stare at Zuko.

“You need to contact Iroh, Prince Zuko.” A stark silence fell.

“Master Pakku, this is incredibly-” Hakoda started. Zuko leapt to his feet. His hands, clenched in fists, burst into flame. The fire in the lamp lighting the room surged. Pakku merely straightened, satisfied to have been proven correct.

“How do you know my uncle?” Zuko snarled. He heard Hakoda and Kustaa sigh.

“It’s a very long story, Your Highness.”

“Don’t call me that.”

“If you insist, Prince Zuko.”

“Just- just Zuko,” Zuko said quietly. The flames wreathing his hands faded. The lamp dimmed, returning to normal. He sat down. “I’m not a prince anymore.”

“Hmm.” Pakku looked Zuko over thoughtfully. “Then what are you?” Zuko looked away. “The women in the camp are calling you a ‘little warrior’. That seems an apt enough description.” Zuko felt his face turn red. “Regardless of your title, you need to write to your uncle.”

“…No,” Zuko whispered. Pakku’s eyes narrowed.

“He is beside himself with grief, boy. He has the right to know you’ve survived, regardless of your own embarrassment over your current situation.”

“I can’t.”

“Either you tell him or I do,” Pakku said firmly. Tears sprung to the corners of Zuko’s eyes. He hurriedly wiped them away, trying desperately to feign a casual air. “Will you write to your uncle, telling him you’ve survived with the help of the spirits?” Zuko shook his head. “Really? You won’t tell your beloved, grieving uncle that you are alive?” Pakku snarled. Hakoda stood.

“Master Pakku. It’s his decision to make, and his decision alone. You may contact his uncle if you feel you can do so without risking lives or safety.” Hakoda gestured for Pakku to stand. Pakku got up. “Please. Let us have our conversation with Zuko in private.” Pakku reluctantly bowed.

“I will write Iroh for you, then, little warrior.” He exited the tent.

“Bato…” Hakoda started.

“I can keep an eye on him,” Bato confirmed. He followed Pakku out. Hakoda turned to Zuko.

“I can’t write to Uncle!” Zuko burst out. The tears he’d been holding back began to stream down his face. Hakoda strode over to the young boy and sat in front of him.

“I understand,” he said softly. Kustaa was patting Zuko on the back, but the gesture wasn��t calming him whatsoever.

“No, you don’t!” Zuko covered his face with his hands. “I- I want to. I miss Uncle. And if I write the letter, then I can cut out the humiliating details. But I can’t write to him. I can’t- I can’t write to anyone!” Kustaa’s gentle pats stopped. He and Hakoda exchanged an uncertain look.

“What do you mean?” Hakoda asked, keeping his voice calm. Zuko pulled his legs to his chest and buried his face in his knees.

“I can write. But only- only some things. And I can’t write it very well. I physically can’t write to Uncle and explain what’s happened to me.” Hakoda nodded slightly, feigning an unperturbed air. This wasn’t good news. It was the opposite. But it was in line with what Yugoda had told him.

“Yugoda told me that the way the spirits touched you disrupted your chi. She felt that it might reduce certain capabilities of yours until you are balanced again.”

“How do I get balanced?” Zuko asked, his voice choked with tears.

“I don’t know. Yugoda could only do so much.” Hakoda thought back to the very first thing the healer had said.

“Maybe if I had been there when he was first burned, I could have done something,” Yugoda said, visibly distraught. “But when one heals, the body is set in that way. It can only be righted by reinjury.”

“What are you referring to?” Hakoda asked.

“The damage caused by his burn. I cannot rid him of that scar, nor restore all abilities of his ear and eye. Nuktuk will have to learn to adapt to his handicap. I’m sorry.”

Hakoda hadn’t realized until then that some part of him hoped a waterbending healer could do something for Zuko’s burn. He had never seen waterbending healing in action; it seemed magical. How could magic like that fail?

But it was for the best. It would only serve to distress Zuko further if he woke up to an unblemished face and unencumbered sight and hearing. Yugoda’s failed attempt to heal the old wound would be kept a secret from the boy.

For now.

“Great.” Zuko raised his head. He wiped away the tears spread across his face. “I was put in water again for no good reason.” Guilt twanged in Hakoda’s heart. Of course the boy was hesitant to be submerged. An adult that barely survived drowning in the ocean would avoid the sea. To a child, it might feel torturous to be submerged in even a small pool for healing. Hakoda hadn’t considered that.

He should have.

“Not quite. She did heal a few injuries that you apparently still had from going overboard,” Kustaa said. “As well as some scrapes and bruises from your time on the Akhlut. The most prominent injury she healed was what she called ‘a rather stubborn concussion’. Once you’ve gotten a full night’s sleep, you should feel much better.”

“…I suppose that’s good,” Zuko said begrudgingly. He rubbed his eyes, stifling a yawn.

“You should probably go to bed,” Hakoda said. Zuko yawned. “Little warrior.”

“Don’t call me that,” Zuko muttered.

“Why not? It’s what you are.” Hiding his serious thoughts behind a playful smile, Hakoda flicked the short wolf’s tail Zuko’s hair had been put into. Zuko scowled at him. “You’ll be sleeping in this tent with me tonight.” Hakoda nodded at a corner, where he had put the pile of furs that had become Zuko’s bed while he was a toddler.

“Okay, Chief,” Zuko mumbled. He yawned again. Kustaa stood and pulled Zuko to his feet.

“Come with me. Let’s have you hit the latrines before bed,” the healer said. Zuko nodded. Kustaa exited the tent, Zuko toddling alongside him.

Hakoda let out a tired sigh.

Iroh,

I know how you desperately hope that the spirits intervened when your nephew was lost at sea. As such, I am glad to share the news that they did.

During our journey to our sister tribe, we came across a Southern ship. On board was a boy, clearly Fire Nation, with a large burn on the side of his face. Our healer informed me the boy was spirit touched. As a leader of my Tribe, I take care to interact with spirit touched individuals and determine why the spirits intervened in their lives. After speaking with the boy, my suspicions about his identity were confirmed.

Your nephew, Zuko, is alive. The crew of our sister tribe’s ship has taken care of him as though he were their own, and he seems pleased enough to be with them.

Our sister tribe asked that I not give you their location, for their safety. I must acquiesce to their request for the sake of tribal unity. But you may know that they have been traveling along the Earth Kingdom coast. The same coast you were traveling along when Zuko went overboard.

The boy seems very invested in maintaining his dignity. That may be something to keep in mind, should you cross paths with him.

The letter trembled in Iroh’s hands. He stared down at the loosely elegant handwriting of his old friend, unable to believe what he had just read. Zuko…was alive?

“Thank you, spirits,” Iroh whispered, his head bowed. He had been ridden with guilt since the events at the North Pole, when his inaction had resulted in a young woman giving her life to save the Moon Spirit. That guilt, combined with the grief over losing Zuko, had caused him to part ways with the Wani, its crew, and the Fire Nation as a whole. The knowledge that the spirits hadn’t held the incident against his family was humbling.

Starting my own tea shop will have to wait. Iroh tucked the letter into a pocket. …But that doesn’t mean I can’t visit someone else’s. Tracking down Zuko will require the kind of planning I can only get while enjoying a nice ginseng.
