All Hermits in Hero Forge!
Tumblr media
Season 10 is coming! And I've finished modeling every Hermit (Thus far) in their TCG-cards poses!
Special thanks to Hoffen for their original minecraft models...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You've already saw these eight models in my Life-series minis showcase, slight tweaks and costume changes... I really need to buy Hero Forge subscription, so i can manipulate fingers individually... Now, for the new guys... Guess what?! I've figured out how to make links! Now you can see my references directly! Technology!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ren got his cool casual look...
Docm77 inspired primarily by Belmarzi's design, such as this... It was very funny to suddenly stop in the middle of this project to model him hugging Snoop Dogg...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JoeHills, unsurprisingly, based on real-life Joe Hills... But I did have this comic by my side while modeling him, for moral support, because modeling someone's likeness is always stressful...
Cleo's pose pose a challenge, It uses a transparent one-legged skeleton inside the main body... Like a real armour-stand magic! I like how it turned out...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've started watching Zedaph very recently, so both Noxolotl's and Applestruda's portrayals of him were very helpful in forming mine...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blaise's Hermit line up was used for Cub and Hypno, which you will see down the line... Bee's art was helpful, once again, and these Cub-arts by Sylvan...
My main goal with Jevin was to somehow convincingly make a slime look slimy... I was so ready to make him as rotund as this art, but alas, program restrictions...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This art was used for False at the very beginning, but it drifted so much with the addition of cheekbones, that it doesn't look like it at all anymore...
Hypno had a surprise for me, because before making this model, I've never saw this brown line on his chest as a boob-window... But now, I am convinced... This is the art, that guided me to that conclusion... Ghostea's and Locus's portraits were useful for figuring out his face...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Iskall lifted from this art... Hero Forge doesn't have any cool one-eyed visors, so I've settled on monocle for him and Doc...
Hero Forge also for some reason doesn't have a hand-held flower, so pretend, that Stress doesn't hold a pen, okay? And has a cardigan... Based mainly on this and this art, which was also used for XB...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My best guess with Keralis was that he is doing Edvard Munch's "The Scream" ommage... Thanks to Myra and Cole , without them, Keralis would've looked more like a bug with them big ol' eyes...
Oh, boy, XB... A true enigma for me... Pictured here, lightly jogging... Only you could tell me, if I did a good job with him, I sincerely have no idea... Since this is in part a TCG-inspired project, it would've been wise to use references from the actual TCG-cards... To bad, I've came up with this idea near the end of a project...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have made so many Xisuma-costumes, and only now I am showing you the main friendly-neighbourhood DoomGuy cosplayer himself... Do I need to credit id Software for this?
WelsKnight is my champion in regards to how many references I needed for him... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7! Despite how many armour options Hero Forge has, making something coherent out of them was difficult... Especially, keeping in mind, that one day I'm going to model HelsKnight as well...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, TinFoilChef, based heavily on this stunning artwork... And somewhat on this skin by Ink-Ghoul... It all comes around...
And the Creator Himself! Beef! And his wonderful portraits: 1 2 3 4...
I actually going to use him as an example, to address something...
Tumblr media
Here is how my screen looks, then I am working on a model... My method of creation is derivative by nature, it requires the art and creativity of other people... And I have SO MUCH anxiety about this... Not being an artist, but still trying to make something with my limited capabilities... And post it on the internet, oh horror...
With recent talks about plagiarism and AI-art, it has come to my attention, that I myself not so different from AI, just not so efficient... So, this is why I so obsessively document my influences, it is the least I can do... Credit the artists, that I stole from... Please, check out everyone mentioned, subscribe to them, commission new pieces of art...
And if you've liked my dorky "minecraft youtubers made in DND character creator" models... Thank you...
Sometime later there will be a google doc on my blog with links to every model I've ever made, go nuts with them... Try Hero Forge for yourself, it's fun...

Some assorted MCYT drawings
1) A drawing of the Flying Fish SIblings :D. Minus Martyn because there wasn't enough space. ;w;
It's supposed to be all of them sitting on two walls. There's one wall then a strip of grass and the other wall?? The perspective is really bad lmao
Grian's just teasing Jimmy as normal and Lizzie being the older sibling is scolding him and Pearl is just watching from up on the wall. Martyn is just answering all his asks from his Tumblr blog or something.
I headcanon them all as siblings. Lizzie and Jimmy technically are siblings because of Empire's SMP season 1, but none of the characters are actually siblings in any other SMP's. It's fine though because this fandom runs on an unholy amount of fanon and fan speculation (also the lore that Martyn IntheLittleWood feeds us) and that's what's fun about it. They all act like siblings anyways, and have a sibling dynamic, so it's fine lol
Tumblr media
2) I'm making reference sheets for my designs of all the Traffic Life Series characters. Here's Etho :D
Tumblr media
3) LIZZIE!!! I recently remade this one. The old one looked terrible. A lot of detail in this one because she's my favorite <3
She's an absolute girlboss and deserved so much better in the Life Series. Like, let the girl have her villian arc before giving her the most tragic death ever I swear. She at least got a small one in Last Life but it was cut so short in Secret Life :(
I also drew some little bisexual and trans pins on her sweater. She's not trans but I like to think that her characters are
Tumblr media
4) Some doodles of all the Life Series Girls!! I love them all so much it’s not even funny anymore. They’re all so amazing and their character arcs are all so good and they need to be appreciated more <3
Tumblr media
Featuring Buff Gem because she’s super jacked because I say so 5) Cleo reference sheet!! <33
Tumblr media
6) Gem reference sheet!! Slightly outdated design, because I’ve changed the way her legs look to make them more natural and deer like if that makes sense lol
Centaur Gem as well because I love it when people draw her as a centaur.
Also another little drawing of Buff Gem
Tumblr media
7) Grian reference sheet!! This one is pretty old and I’m planning on remaking it soon. His legs just look a little strange and the art is slightly outdated. He also looks too tall lol
Tumblr media
8) A pretty old piece of art, but it’s of Empires Lizzie and Pearl.
Tumblr media
9) Pretty recent little doodle page of assorted MCYT. The biggest drawing is of Shubble because we love Shubble and she needs all the support she can get rn Also a little drawing of Shrub because I love Shrub with all my heart and soul
I really like the Gem and Grian drawings as well :D

I just watched “Blue Night” or as it seems to be called in the UK “Here and Now” a Sarah Jessica Parker lead remake of “Cleo From 5-7”
A successful jazz singer Vivienne is about to headline at the Bluenote and is releasing a new album but she gets some difficult medical news about a terminal brain tumour. It’s a slow episodic film where not a lot happens as we follow her through 24 hours from learning the news until her appointment for more tests the following day. It’s got a fabulous soundscape that ties into the disorientation and confusion she feels. Many of the scenes are ripped from the original and I’m not sure they really make sense but if you like slow pretty films it’s worth an hour and half. The cast is stellar. Most of the movie is Vivienne so I’m guessing she called up some friends and asked them to do a couple of days filming. The biggest progression in any relationship in the film is with her ride share driver Sami played by the ever fabulous Waleed Zuaiter but even that doesn’t really go anywhere. The film, like the lead character, is just passing the time waiting.
The reason I watched it was because it also has Taylor Kinney in it and the trailer made it clear that he was in a relationship with Vivienne so what was I to do 🙃 He barely has a speaking line but he’s charming and lovely in his relationship with her. She’s divorced and fairly recently out of a serious relationship and you get the feeling these are just two people who like each other hooking up rather than a love story but for her who needs an escape from her mortality it’s a nice distraction. And for me who also needs a break from reality it was a nice (if brief) distraction.
Honestly gif makers would be doing us a huge service to gif the sex scene. It’s a beautiful breathy mess of cut shots but sensual and lovely.

3, 6, 26 for the movie asks :3
yayyy thank you hiiiii :-)
3. a foreign language film - ugh god this is a tough call. i only got around to watching this semi-recently but i really loved it sooo i’m gonna say yorgos lanthimos’s dogtooth
6. a movie released before 1970 - persona >:) or cleo from 5 to 7 :-)
26. a movie with a runtime over 2.5 hours - drive my car! god what a perfect movie. I gotta revisit it sometime. saw it in theaters with my friend on a really snowy day, really fond memories of that time. and the soundtrack is also soooo good (and good driving around music, as you might imagine!)
never read the short story it’s based on but from what I understand the movie is doing way more with it. i’m not a car person by any measure but that movie does make me want to drive a practical little red saab. and yes it’s 3 hours long but it really doesn’t feel that way imo
aaaaand all these movies are foreign language films anyways so they also all count for that #3 answer too >:)

1-10 movie asks!!
Hello, Fee! Thank u <3 I do love talking about movies
1. Your favourite movie released this year:
I actually haven't seen any films released this year; I don't really keep up with new stuff coming out, I just watch things when I feel like watching them. Also, I really dislike movie theatres, so I tend to wait until films are available via other means.
That being said, the newest movie I've seen is probably either Tick Tick Boom or Spider-Man: No Way Home, both of which I loved.
2. A movie you think is underrated:
Hmmm. This is a hard one, because I am hardly the authority to call a film underrated. That being said, while I love the likes of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, I think Whisper of the Heart is a criminally underrated Ghibli film. I love the quiet coming-of-age, summer-in-the-city atmosphere. And I'm a sucker for a coming of age story that features a wise antique shop owner bestowing wisdom.
3. A movie you think is overrated:
I can only speak on films I've seen, and I have to say, I didn't enjoy Saving Private Ryan. I don't like action sequences at the best of times, and the hyperrealism of war was just too much to me. It's a fine film, but I think war films, particularly American war films, get a lot of accolades just on the merit of Being About The War, which can be annoying.
4. A movie you like but wouldn't recommend:
I don't think I wouldn't recommend any film I like. Maybe I wouldn't recommend Jeux interdits if you're a crier, because a child's parents and dog die within the first few minutes.
5. A movie musical you like:
I just recently watched Umbrellas of Cherbourg for a class, and I love loved it. The bright, 60s aesthetic was beautiful, the singing was gorgeous, and I love an open ending.
6. A horror movie you like:
I'm currently writing a paper on Coraline, and it's an incredible children's horror film. I love the when horror intersects with coming of age, and Neil Gaiman is great at doing that in his novels, and Henry Selick nailed the adaptation.
7. A sci-fi movie you like:
Arrival is the first to come to mind. I don't watch a ton of sci-fi, but I loved how Arrival explored time and language/communication.
8. A fantasy movie you like:
I also don't watch a ton of fantasy, but The Princess Bride is a classic. I could watch that film a thousand times and never get tired of it.
9. A movie in your native language you like:
I'm a native English speaker, so I've got all of Hollywood to choose from, but I'm going to pick a Canadian film to narrow it down for myself. My all-time favourite Canadian film (and one of my all-time favourite films full stop) is Last Night. I love anything that explores what it means to be alive through a narrative about death. It's a gorgeous, heartwrenching film and Sandra Oh is great in it.
10. A foreign-language movie you like:
I'd never seen a film in another language before I started taking film classes, and now I've seen so many I love. Here is a non-exhaustive list of some favourites: Les vacanes de Monsieur Hulot, La vita e bella, Before Tomorrow, Umberto D, Cleo de 5 a 7, and To Live.
Thank you again Fee!

Chapter 2 / Onceler x Reader
Tumblr media
You woke up. Your bedroom was filled with extremely bright, warm light, which only seems to be appearing in the mornings of cool, early October. You had the eeriest dream about your childhood friend. Wait, who was that? The more you tried to remember, the hazier it became, eventually slipping away entirely. Could it be Onceler? You haven’t seen him in such a long time, since his family moved. You gave up trying to grasp the details. It was time to get ready for work.
You dropped out of college last year. Your mental health had suffered a lot after the incident, but you were getting therapy and overall doing better. On one of your beloved hiking trips you saw a child disappear into a waterfall in the Truffula Valley. It was never seen again and you couldn’t even imagine what the family was going through. You weren’t able to put it into words at the time, but you needed to slow down a little bit and take some time for yourself. So you decided to quit school and move to your parents’ old cabin, located in the outskirts of Truffula Valley. Having spent the best moment of your childhood there, it was still your favourite place in the entire world. The cabin was old and almost unrecognisable from the wild nature surrounding it. Your parents told you it was built by your great-grandfather, a biologist studying these amazing trees. The bookshelves were filled with notebooks he kept writing until his death, which happened somewhere in the early 70s. You loved reading them as a child - what he wrote felt more like a fairytale full of magic creatures than academic analysis. After he had passed, your grandmother, his daughter, tried donating them to a university library in town, but they very rudely declined the offer, calling his writings “pseudo-scientific gibberish”. This made you very angry when you were little - you wanted to experience his world and everything in it. As you got older, you realised he probably lost his mind living here, entirely on his own for decades. The forest got the best of him, but you weren’t going to follow in his steps. You have never, ever been happier.
(Vashti Bunyan - Diamond Day playing softly in the background)
During mornings like these you’d wake up extremely early to watch the sun rising from in-between the colourful Truffula tufts, all accompanied by the sky changing its color every 3 minutes or so, from hazy, purplish blue to light lilac and soft pink. You sat outside your cabin and gazed at it calmly while drinking an oat milk latte. After finishing your coffee and breakfast you had to start preparing for work. You recently got a part-time job in Greenville, the hours were ok, the pay was ok, and - since it was an obscure movie theatre - sometimes you could sneak in and watch some niche, old films. Early October in Truffula Valley was your favourite time of the year - the tufts were still colourful yet already fading into the most beautiful, warm shade of orange. You put on your favourite outfit and biked to town, feeling the soft, autumn breeze on your rosy cheeks.
Work was really dull that day and you actually had to cancel two screenings already, because - surprise, surprise - no one came. “People in this town are really uncultured these days” you thought, wondering what happened to the customers who used to storm the cinema on a daily basis. You took a deep breath and realised it really wasn’t your business and you shouldn’t get irritated. “Only two screenings left”, you thought, uncontrollably yawning. One of them was definitely going to take place - it was kind of a big event, management posted flyers all over town a month ago already. The movie was Citizen Kane, an old, black and white classic, which’s hype you never really understood. “Who cares about the problems of some rich, white dude”, you’d always chuckle when anyone mentioned it. It was just so outdated. The second screening, sadly, could actually get canceled. It was an Agnès Varda 1962 movie called Cleo from 5 to 7. You saw it last year and thought it was really ahead of its time.
As you predicted, more and more people started coming in for Citizen Kane. You were extremely bored, yet polite, handing clients their tickets. At some point, the line disappeared, you looked down and started remembering that eerie dream. Was there a cinema involved? You still couldn’t get yourself to remember the hazy details. Suddenly, a loud voice brought you back to reality:
- Can I get a ticket for Cleo? - you heard and looked up.
- Oh my god! - you shouted way louder than you should’ve - Oncie!
Such a coincidence, you actually thought about him this morning. And there he was, standing in front of your counter. It really seemed like he hasn’t changed at all since you saw him at the age of, what was it, 8? He seemed to only have grown in terms of height, being so exceptionally tall you had to take a second, searching for his round, bright face somewhere around the tacky, vintage ceiling. He smiled at you, showing off that wide, extremely cute smile, which was one of the most vivid images of him left in your memory.
- No way! Y/n? - Onceler seemed excited - so good to see you! Do you live around here?
- Yes, well, actually no, not exactly in town. I moved to my parent’s cabin in the Truffula Valley, you remember it?
- How could I forget? - his face brightened up - that means we’re sort of neighbours right now! I just moved down there too.
- Really? - you smiled - moved away from the ranch?
- Yea! I’m actually, sort of, starting a business? Or at least trying to - you could see his smile turning awkward and forced, so you decided to drop the subject immediately.
- Your ticket! - you suddenly remembered you’re supposed to be working - Unfortunately, I think we’re gonna have to cancel that screening. You’re the only person who showed up and there needs to be at least 5 people.
- Aw! I was really excited to watch it - he sighed - Are you playing anything else then?
- Yeah, Citizen Kane. A bit overrated for my taste, but it’s a classic.
- Okey-doke, then I’ll have one ticket and… - he stopped abruptly and a subtle blush appeared on his cheeks - will you still be here when the movie ends?
- Yea - you said, a little bit surprised - company policy, you know. It might seem pointless, but we had a popcorn machine stolen once.
- Yuck, really? - he flinched and laughed - then maybe we can grab a beer after the movie? I haven’t seen you in ages.
- Okay, sure, why not - you replied with surprising confidence, which must’ve been a result of his incredibly calming presence.
- Then, um, see ya later! - he waved at you and disappeared into the big door on your right.
The movie started and everyone vanished. You noticed yourself being a little bit nervous and couldn’t really figure out why that was. Were you developing a teeny tiny crush on your childhood friend? “Not again!”, you thought to yourself, “you literally spoke to him for 2 seconds”. He got really handsome over the years - his eyes were big and blue, his smile was heartwarming and kind with something unexplainably sexy about it, his hair… ah, his black hair. Accepting the invitation was definitely a good choice. After all, you haven’t really spoken to a friend in months.
Wondering about all these things and replaying that short encounter in your head, over and over, you didn’t even notice when the 119 minutes passed. People started walking out. You tried not to stare too much, but couldn’t really help yourself. You spotted him in the crowd and he immediately looked at you as well.
- Hey! - Onceler shouted approaching - let’s get going!
You biked slowly, as he walked next to you. The nearest bar was about 20 minutes away, but the evening was warm. The whole town was covered in a lovely, dusty blue fog, successfully covering its hideous, decaying buildings. You didn’t like Greenville. The northern half of it consisted of creepy suburbs, where all houses looked exactly the same and costed way more than a normal person would earn within two lifetimes. The southern half was simply neglected, deprived of life, joy and culture. This is where the movie theatre was located. It was once a popular spot, where teenagers would go on dates and parents would take their children on sunny weekends. However, since streaming services became an option, people stopped coming whatsoever. Its days were numbered, you were sure of it.
- How’d you like the movie? - you asked.
- I liked it! It was… interesting.
- Really? - you asked with genuine curiosity. That was an unexpected take on Citizen Kane.
- Well, no - Onceler replied and laughed - I fell asleep at the beginning and woke up when the lights turned on. I’ve been so exhausted recently. I feel stupid.
- Don’t! - you smiled at him - I once fell asleep on Nosferatu. Black and white movies tend to do this to your brain.
- There is something weirdly soothing about them - he agreed.
- So… - you decided to push the topic a little bit - why are you so tired? Is it because of the new business?
- Yea, it is - he said, looking down - Let’s just say it is not going very well.
- Explain - you asked and suddenly noticed a red spot on his white shirt - hey, you got a…
- Yea - he interrupted and laughed nervously - I know! So, uh… I’ve been knitting. I had this amazing idea of a thing that could be used in so many ways! - you noticed his eyes sparkling - I call it a thneed. I keep trying to sell it, but anytime I show up at the town square, people start throwing things at me - he shrugged his shoulders irritatedly - I guess I should just quit and move back to my parents.
- Um - you sighed loudly, not really knowing what to say. You never knew what to say when people were sad around you - are you sure? Maybe you just… - you smirked - thneed some more time?
He looked at you with a heartwarming, pathetic half-smile and for a moment it kind of felt like no time had passed since you saw each other last.
- I don’t even know anymore if that’s what I wanna do - he sighed - I thought I had it all figured out, ya know? - he took a deep breath - enough about me. How are you doing?
- Ummm, fine - you mumbled looking down. He caught you off guard. For some unexplainable reason you weren’t prepared to be talking about yourself - nothing out of the ordinary. I go to work, I leave work and bike around. That’s all, I guess.
- Is it? - he grinned - I can’t believe that’s true. What are you hiding, y/n?
- Nothing, I swear! - you laughed - Seriously, I have retired. And I’m enjoying it.
- So, how do you spend your days in retirement? - he asked.
- So… - you took a moment to think about the right words to make your daily routine sound at least a little bit interesting - I wake up early. I walk around the forest a lot. I read. And if I don’t have any chores or work I bike to the lake and swim a little.
- She swims a little! - he scoffed - You come to town a lot?
- Only when I have to - you replied - For work, I mean. I don’t really like it here.
Suddenly he stopped and grabbed the handle of your bike. His hand brushed against yours, which immediately set off a tingly sensation in your chest.
- We don’t need to stay here if you don’t want to - he gave you that heartwarming smile again - you could come see my cottage. I’d show you the thneeds.
- Sure, why not  - you looked at him curiously. You weren’t expecting this. Although you probably should have; “he was always so kind and understanding”, you thought, “unlike the rest of his family”.
- Can we use your bike?
- Yea, sure! I don’t think I’ll be able to take you on the trunk though, with umm…
- My abnormally long legs? - he laughed - it’s okay, I can drive. My cottage is not that far away, we’ll manage somehow.
(Porridge Radio - Eugh playing softly in the background)
He hopped on the bike and you sat on the trunk, putting your arms around his waist. It felt good - your breath slowed down, your heartbeat was calmer now, the anxiety had vanished completely. You laid your cheek on his back - it felt almost like a natural reflex - and gazed into the evening sky. You exited the town and rode through the forest. The sunlight was dim, almost non-existent, and a perfect full moon was emerging on the horizon. The cool, fresh air gently caressed your cheeks with a soft evening breeze. You took a deep breath, smelling various types of flowers which grew all around the Valley. Your eyes closed - seemingly out of their own, independent will - and for a moment it felt as if every little thing in the world ceased to exist, besides the two of you, speeding through nothingness. You rode in silence, as the breeze became cooler. You noticed yourself gripping Onceler’s waist tighter, as you got a little cold in your dress and he really seemed like the warmest thing in the universe. Suddenly, you saw a cottage rising from the forest.
- Here we are! - he announced - Welcome to my humble headquarters.
You became a bit pensive during the ride and didn’t even notice you were still holding on to his body. You finally let go of his torso and the both of you hopped off the bike. He didn’t seem to mind.
- Oh! - you gasped - wow, it looks pretty! I don’t think I’ve ever been to this part of the forest.
- I’m really glad you like it - he unlocked the door and turned on the lights - soo… this is my workshop.
It was warm inside. Not only in terms of the temperature, but the overall vibe. The interior was simple and cosy, which made you feel at ease. You sat on a chair next to what seemed like a desk, covered entirely in crochet needles and pink Truffula tufts.
- Oh… so you make them from Truffula trees? - you asked curiously.
- Yea! - he said, opening a beer and handing one to you - they’re extremely soft, don’t you think?
- Yea, I guess so. But don’t you have to like… cut down the trees to get them?
- At first I thought so too! - he raised his voice and suddenly you remembered he actually used to do that a lot as a kid. Whenever he got excited about something, he’d practically yell at you - but then, since it came out I’m not gonna be knitting that many of them… - he looked down and took a sip from his bottle - I found a way of harvesting them, which doesn’t disrupt their growth at all. I made this.
He went up to a wardrobe and started throwing things out of it, looking for something.
- Aha! There it is.
It looked like a giant pair of pliers with an extendable handle.
- Impressive, Once - you laughed, taking a sip from your bottle.
- Buuuuut… - Onceler looked down again, shrugging his shoulders - can you imagine I haven’t sold even one thneed? It’s crazy!
- You still haven’t shown me what a thneed looks like - you said - or even told me what it is.
He headed back to the wardrobe and took out a pink, fluffy something. It looked a little bit like a scarf, but had a lot of holes in it.
- Look, it has all-natural microfibers. It’s super absobernt. You can wear it as a scarf - he put it around his neck - you can use it as a hat, as a top, as a carpet… I think it’s a revolutionary product and I really want people to notice it too! Try it on.
- Okay, show me.
You stood up and straightened your arms along your waist, not knowing what to expect. He came up to you, put the thneed around your neck and started adjusting its numerous holes so it fit perfectly. You felt that tingly sensation again. His face was focused, but so incredibly close to yours you could feel his breath on your cheeks.
- It suits you - he finished styling it and looked at you with a smile - so, since you’re such a hermit now, maybe we can sit outside? It’s not that cold.
- Yea, you don’t have to ask. There’s a full moon tonight.
- Keep the thneed - he said, opening the back door.
(Totally Mild - Nights playing softly in the background)
You adjusted the thneed wrapped softly around your neck and followed him outside. He laid a blanket on the grass, carefully, and sat on it, crossing his legs. You noticed your heart rate go a little bit up when you glanced at him in this scenery. You couldn’t stop wondering that this could be your life now. Knitting these weird things, living in the forest… together. You couldn’t stop imagining other things as well. “Stop this”, you thought immediately, “let’s just enjoy this evening”.
- So… what’s on your mind? - you asked, sitting next to him.
- It’s just… I’m working so incredibly hard now and I’m still failing - he said - I wish I was more successful.
- It doesn’t always come right away, Onceler - you said, sipping your beer - sometimes you have to wait.
- But I’ve already done so much - he sighed.
- I know what you mean, but, you know, don’t worry - you didn’t know what to say - at some point someone’s definitely gonna buy one, just give it time - you smiled at him. This thneed was really growing on you.
- Maybe you’re right - Onceler sighed - but I really want to make it big. To see everyone using them. Everyone! A world filled with thneeds.
- Do you really? - you scoffed - and how exactly would you do it? You’d need a lot of help, do you realise that? And what about the trees?
- I guess I would figure it all out along the way. I just want to be the successful one, for once - he looked down with a miserable half smile - are you happy with your life right now?
- I don’t know - you laughed, a little bit confused - is, like, anyone ever?
- I believe so - he smiled - that’s what I want, to be proud of my life.
- Being happy and being proud are two different things.
- To me they’re the same.
- Wouldn’t you just prefer - you stopped for a second, thinking of the right words - like… just peace of mind?
- I will have peace of mind, when I become successful - he explained - I’m sure of it.
- Seriously? How are you so sure? - you pushed him.
- I just am - he replied.
- Wouldn’t you want something more like… a slow life in the forest? - you laughed - I know it sounds cliche, but imagine it. Taking long walks, enjoying the views, the fresh air. Every day. You know, I feel like living in my parent’s cabin turned out really good for me. I feel like - you sighed and looked him in the eyes with a half smile - I feel like I always knew it subconsciously. That this is supposed to be my life. Here, in the Valley.
- I used to dream of that too, ya know? - Onceler looked at you, when an unexpected, soft blush appeared on his cheeks - actually, when we were little I thought we were gonna end up that way. I mean, the both of us, together...
The look on his face changed slightly. He was now gazing into your eyes with this soothing, dreamy expression.
- I guess I thought so too - you said - it seemed like… it was the natural way for things to go.
He laid on the blanket, facing the sky. You laid next to him.
- This feels right, doesn’t it? - he asked, closing his eyes.
- Yeah... I think so - you whispered, yawning.
- I’ve missed you, y/n.
Hearing this was the last thing you remember before the both of you dozed off, right under bright, October stars, wrapped in a warm, cosy thneed.
...
You woke up to the same, bright, warm light, which you enjoyed so much every morning. Only this time it was way brighter than before.
“Oh my god”, you thought to yourself, “why am I outside?”. Before you managed to make a quick recollection of the series of events which led the two of you to falling asleep, so peacefully, on a blanket in Onceler’s backyard, you’ve noticed his hand was holding yours, with great intensity at that. The initial anxiety had left. The tangly sensation returned. It was cute.
He looked so at ease. His hair was messy, falling into his eyes. Considering the stress he’s been going through with the new business and all, you decided not to wake him up. You thought about making some breakfast, maybe coffee. You carefully freed your hand from his grip and went inside.
You found your phone on the tuft-covered desk. “Oh no”, you thought as you noticed numerous missed calls from your parents. You opened the texts: “Baby, where are you? Your mom broke her leg and we really need you to come home and help her. Call us asap”. Your heart started pounding again. You had to go, leaving so many questions unanswered. You looked at Onceler through the window, still sleeping, completely unbothered by the sounds of nature waking up. You found a piece of paper, scribbled a note, “phone number!”, you thought frantically, “he needs my phone number”, took your bike and left for your parents house.
(Alexandra Savior - Can’t help myself playing softly in the background as y/n rides away)

so recently the folks over at @petrichormeraki have been working on a silent tommy au because of a few asks talking about mute!tommy. and one of the things that’s canon in that au is the fact that xisuma is the only mortal hermit. i took this as free reign to work out why each of the other hermits is immortal. some of them are gods, some of them are demigods, some of them are supernatural beings, but none of them (except xisuma) can be killed through feasible means.
because of the sheer amount of immortal hermits there just to live out immortality in peace, i like to think hermitcraft is sometimes referred to jokingly as ‘the retirement zone’ by other immortal beings. most mortals outside of hermitcraft wouldn’t know the hermits are all like... gods and shit.
hermits + their immortality under the cut because oh god this was supposed to be a fast post but i accidentally wrote... a lot. whoops!
Grian is a watcher. He was a watcher before he joined hermitcraft. That’s... just. Canon Grian Lore TM. Not much to explain with him.
Cleo and Joe are both immortal by virtue of no longer being capable of being mortal. As both of hem are undead beings (cleo a zombie and joe a ghost), killing them again isn’t... possible. In addition to this, at some point during their afterlife, they managed to gather enough power between the two of them to be labelled as the “Twin Gods of Life and Death”. Which one is life and which one is death? That depends on the day.
Cub and Scar are definitely not gods. But the deals the two made with the Vex are almost more of an insurance on their immortality. The Vex protect their ConVex as a dragon protects its hoard. Not only can the two of them hold their own in a fight, but their respawn is insured by the fact that even if they were to permadie, the Vex would bring them back anyways.
False is the Queen of Hearts, Heads, and Body Parts. She’s also a vampire. In a similar vein, Ren is a werewolf. Both of them can only be killed through very specific means, and neither can die of old age. Throughout their many years in the worlds, they’ve gathered tons of skills and allies. Although now they’ve both stepped down, content to enjoy their peaceful lives and chill out in Hermitcraft, each of them was once a ruler of their respective factions. The ‘queen’ part of False’s title was never just a title.
Etho was granted immortality by a council of gods, after they took a liking to his interesting antics and kept an eye on his longstanding worlds.
Doc, BDubs, Beef, and Etho (again) were all brought to Hermitcraft as the last ‘mortal’ members to join. The general idea was that maybe they could give Xisuma some company and relief from the antics of his immortal and godly friends. This did not happen. Instead, the universe decided it was going to give all of them godly powers in their own right. Etho himself may have been immortal, but he and the rest of the NHO all grew infinitely more powerful after leaving the jungle of season 5.
Stress is a dryad. She can control and warp the nature around her in strange and beautiful ways. In addition to this, were her body to ever get fully destroyed in a way that would prevent her from respawning, a new body would instead form for her out of the nature wherever she died. This is how ice queen stress came about in season 6.
Impulse actually bullshitted his own way into immortality. Where most of the other hermits were either brought into it by someone else or born into it, Impulse actually discovered the secret of immortality while he was trying to figure out how totems of undying were made. He now knows how to create totems and how to become immortal, though he won’t tell anyone else if they ask. Part of the process of creating totems involved...
...Tango, who is a demon. As a demon, his powerset includes but is not limited to both pyrokinesis and an affinity for very very large and very very deadly animals. He doesn’t use those abilities on Hermitcraft often, but they’re in his skillset for sure.
As a byproduct of the immortality, Zedaph showed up in the current timeline. His immortality is... strange, because it’s not technically immortality. Zedaph, as a person, is mortal and can die. Zedaph, as a being, though, is one of billions of Zedaphs in the universe; each of whom is nearly identical to the others; and whenever one Zedaph dies, he is replaced instantly with a new Zedaph; a functionally identical Zedaph to the one who died. Nobody’s quite sure how this process works, but Zed claims it’s through “time travel”.
Jevin, as a slime, can actually inhabit any portion of his slime that he wants; no matter how small the amount. Even if he were limited to one singular molecule of slime, he could still exist around that molecule and regenerate slime until he was fully present again, though it might take a little while for him to complete that process. The only way to kill Jevin is by fundamentally altering the chemical makeup of every single molecule of slime he’s ever had anywhere. It simply won’t happen. He does use his abilities to get out of conversations, if he’s feeling particularly annoyed at the time.
TFC is potentially one of the most interesting hermits, in his prior responsibilities. It’s easy to forget that he’s not mortal, considering how frighteningly average he acts in his day to day life. One peek into any of his bunkers, though, and you’re hit right in the face with a bold reminder. TFC used to be one of the gods responsible for shaping the very worlds players would walk on; more specifically, he was in charge of cave systems and mineshafts for a long time. He’s retired from that life and is having a lovely time in Hermitcraft, just vibing.
Wels gained his immortality through a deal with the patron god of the kingdom he grew up serving. He made this deal as a young knight and watched for decades as the kingdom grew and prospered, Wels himself known far and wide as quite probably the best warrior of them all. After being dismissed honorably by the kingdom, as he’d been protecting them for many decades now and the rulers honestly felt he deserved a break, the god he’d made a deal with finalized this immortality. He joined Hermitcraft not long after, and has taken up a spot doing his part to protect the hermits.
Iskall was somewhat of an enforcer, for the gods. Were a god to be acting particularly out of line, Iskall would be called in to bring them to the council for trial. Sometimes his targets came peacefully, sometimes he’d have to use force to bring them in. No matter what he had to do, there wasn’t a single target he missed. He both can and will kill a god if he must. Technically, Iskall’s still on call, but generally councils don’t call on him unless absolutely necessary anymore.
Hypno made a deal with a god many years ago, trading his mortality for the ability to see hundreds of thousands of alternate paths for the future. He wanted to chronicle them, and he still spends one or two days a week writing out winding paths of the future. When he’s not working, he wears his bandana to cover up the third eye that allows him this insight. This helps him focus on the now, rather than the futures that may or may not be.
Xb is an eldritch being with reality warping abilities. He has them under fairly good control, most of the time. They really only become an issue when he gets too much pent-up magical energy at once; examples of this being things like season changes. His season 7 base is built around what happens when he needs to release. It’s a post apocalypse world, and the apocalypse was him.
Mumbo is definitely both magical and immortal, but the specifics of his powers are incredibly unclear. The hermits know it has something to do with redstone, maybe, and that the unpredictability of Hermit Challenges are a reflection of his strange and confusing powerset, but nobody’s really sure where his immortality stems from. Every time you ask him he gives you a different answer. The mumbonis are all different joking theories as to where his powers came from.

56 french-language film recs!
I wanted to find some movies I can watch to improve my French, so I looked for films available on Kanopy (which is rly cool--if you live in the US, you can stream some movies for free if your library or school subscribes to it!) All of the following films are on Kanopy, and I imagine you can also find many of them on p*racy sites (totally not endorsing that at all no sir!). I’ve listed each film’s title along with its year and score on IMDB. I only included movies with at least 1,000 IMDB ratings and an average of at least 7/10 so they’re all reasonably acclaimed! Ahh Cleo from 5 to 7 is one of my favorite movies! It is definitely an essential movie for cinema lovers.
It's great, isn't it? I watched it again recently - hence the gifs! My mum and I have this thing where I have a box of "tasks" that she put together for me and when I need inspiration or am feeling low I can take out one of the tasks. There's more to it but that's the basics and one recently was "watch a French film." I was aiming for Bande à part because I haven't seen that yet but I couldn't find it and then Cleo was there instead.
